Request: With the incident happening, may I see Adrian as time goes on slowly reciprocating physical affection between us, his lover now? Like from brief hand holding to him just plopping his head onto our shoulders or just him sleeping inside our bedroom and cuddling close to us.

Humans sleep a lot, or maybe that’s just you. Adrian cannot fathom the extent of your need for sleep, even though he is part human himself. You remain the connoisseur of naps, resting your eyes for 15 minutes or indulging in a 12-hour special on weekends. You remind him of a cat basking in the sun. Sometimes he wonders if sleeping could qualify as a hobby for you.

You sleep with the most peaceful smile on your face. Your brows are free of any crease, as if even the darkest of nightmares cannot challenge your will to find rest.

Your hair falls around you messily, and your limbs entangle themselves in the nearby blankets and pillows. A few wayward strands rest on your forehead, gently swaying with the rhythmic warmth of your breath.

And Adrian cannot bring himself to sleep. He cannot convince himself to look away from the sight in front of him, even as nightmares and horrid scenes haunt his dreams. It's as if the physical separation of your separate beds is insignificant.

Lost in your dreams, you clutch your pillow closer to you, and for once Adrian wonders if it is concerning to feel envious of an inanimate object. He could be there, in your embrace, his arms around your waist, allowing you to snuggle into him.

He could, but he hasn't been able to. Not since then… not since his body finds every contact repulsive, even the ones his heart craves. His mind, heart, and soul know that you cannot and will not ever harm him, not when he is aware of the depth of your love for him.

He cannot be fooled, not after you broke down every wall he had built around himself in the aftermath of Taka and Sumi's betrayal. You did so without complaint, expecting nothing in return. And if by some remote chance there existed a possibility of your betrayal, Adrian would choose death by your hands without a moment's hesitation.

A fall for you would be sweeter than any other.

Separated by the narrow distance between your beds, in the dark of your unlit room, Alucard reaches his hand towards you. His hand lingers in the air, yearning for you and your warmth.

"Ai," you exclaim, trying to retract your hand but failing to do so. You freeze as you watch Adrian hold onto your hand. It had been an accidental brush of your fingers, something you did not intend, not at the cost of upsetting your lover.

On any normal day, you would have immediately pulled your hand back and apologized for the contact. It has always been the reality of your relationship, and you have accepted Adrian, all of him.

However, your world tilts on its axis as Adrian surprises you by not letting go. With trembling fingers, your beloved interlaces his fingers with yours, and you savor the point of contact that he has granted you.

So, you smile with all the love you can muster. You smile to show your happiness, your pride, and your affection. Adrian's hands feel cold against yours as the lines of your palms align.

Maybe if times had been different, you would have kissed your beloved. You would have cupped his cheeks and looked right into his eyes, but for now, you let him lead at his own pace as you map the expanse of his hand with your thumb, offering the comfort he has allowed you to offer.

"And then we just ended up leaving because honestly, there was no point in staying," Adrian listens to you ramble as you take another bite of your watermelon.

The heat of the long summer dissipates as the sun descends to the corner of the world, casting a hazy shade of orange over everything. Birds rush back to their nests with renewed urgency, and cicadas sing the song of the night.

Both of you sit on the secluded porch of your childhood home, the backyard now bearing the fruit of your day's labor. A subtle scent of jasmine fills the area from the tree you planted in your childhood.

It's a perfect evening next to you, but Adrian cannot focus. His mind is filled with thoughts of you—your carefree smile, your eyes, your voice. He feels intoxicated by your essence. A part of his heart sings with joy as you still hold his hand close. Despite your complaints about his icy cold fingers, you allow it anyway. He is surprised by how natural it feels for you to hold his hand in yours, how habitual it has become for your fingers to intertwine and for your thumb to run soothing patterns on the back of his hand. It feels nothing like the past he fears; it is different, and he knows it.

Your love doesn't bind him; instead, it offers him freedom.

Adrian's throat dries as he steels his mind. He has to do it, for your sake and his own. Months ago, his dreams were nightmares full of terror, but now they are the manifestations of his desires, desires that urge him to follow your touch.

With a slight tilt of his head, Adrian inches closer to you. His gaze lands on your lips. He yearns, but he resists. Someday he will, but for today, Adrian finds comfort as he rests his head on your shoulder.

Your voice stops, and Adrian feels the sharp breath you suck in. He almost fears rejection. Does it mean you don't desire him? Is he too late? But all his fears dissipate into thin air when he hears the loud thud of your heart. To his sensitive hearing, it sounds like a loud drum.

A smile blooms on Adrian's face as he feels the heat rushing up your neck and catches a glimpse of the light red that colors your ears. Adrian simply closes his eyes and snuggles closer to your arm, leading to where your hands are linked.

His nose nestles in the hollow of your collarbone, and for the first time in his life, he feels goosebumps on his skin. A thrill of pleasure consumes him, leaving him wanting more. In those moments, no fear, no trauma plagues him. There is no room for it anymore; you have taken over everything.

You clench your fist, feeling your knuckles crack under the force of your motion. You despise everything in this godforsaken room—the awful-tasting wine, the snobbish elite, the constricting fit of your formal outfit, the vampire who stands way too close to Adrian, and most of all, yourself for feeling this way.

Yet, you cannot help but watch your lover next to his friend. A friend from childhood who possesses the elegance of immortality that you lack. Morgan, a vampire, who holds fragments of Adrian's life that you do not.

You cannot help but notice how good they look together, how much easier it is for Adrian to accept closeness and the comfort that Morgan offers. Compared to you, who still struggles to calm him down after a bout of nightmares.

Maybe if you were better, you would have the courage to selflessly allow Adrian a better chance at life with someone who would remain by his side until the end of times.

The bitterness of your wine lingers on your tongue as you try to pry your eyes away from the pair who seem deeply engrossed in their conversation. A part of you hopes that Morgan will be there when you are no longer in this world, that Adrian will have someone by his side.

It's hard to gulp down the next sip of wine as scenarios of your separation cloud your mind. You imagine a future where you're no longer part of Adrian's world, where he finds solace and love in the arms of another. It's a painful thought, one that tightens your chest and leaves you feeling hollow.

Was what you offered enough? Would it ever be enough of what little you could offer Adrian? Deep down, you know he deserves more, more than anything and everything you have to give.

Stuck in a room full of people who seem unaware of your inner turmoil, your steps falter as they lead you outside to a balcony, where the cold of the night sobers you from the slight daze of your wine.

Your breath comes in fast and loud as you try to control it, to quiet it down and hide it from the vampires flooding the room. Your vision blurs, and the world becomes hazy. Leaning on the dainty railing for support, you try to steady yourself.

Your heart beats loud and fast. It hurts—everything hurts. It hurts so bad that you lean in, bending at your waist. Your skin feels too warm, and the world feels too loud.

"Y/n," you startle when you feel hands supporting you. Trying to back away from your helper, you mutter quick apologies that seem to blend into your heaving breath. "I'm… I'm sorry… I… uh," your words stop when you feel hands cupping your face and lifting it up.

Cold hands, slender fingers, and flowing golden hair. A blurred silhouette of Adrian stares back at you. You fail to see his face through the tears that won't stop flowing from your eyes.

Now you have worried him, just what he needed. Despair fills you even further. "It's okay. I am okay," you try to reassure him as your breath starts to steady. "Give me a minute. I'll be there, you go back…" you try to pull away as you clear your throat, but Adrian remains unmoving.

You try to decipher the complex emotions in his eyes but fail to do so. Even the miserable smile you try to put on your face doesn't work.

"Have some faith in me. I may not have the courage to love as you do, but allow me to share your burdens as you have shared mine," you cannot bring yourself to answer as Adrian holds your hand in his. "Teach me and expect things from me. You know you deserve all of it. Get angry at me, cry to me, but… not like this… not alone. Don't bear it alone."

And then, without another word, Adrian leans in. His lips peck yours, the slightest touch that leaves butterflies in your stomach. The world goes quiet as you kiss your lover, your hands cupping his face as your lips explore his.

Your end will come one day, and it will hurt Adrian. It will grieve him, but before that day comes, there will be many others. And you will make sure to make them so bright that even in the gray of despair, there will always be a memory bright enough to make your beloved chuckle with amusement.

And if there exists a world beyond this, then you will find him there.

"Sing to me again" x Alucard

Fight.

Attack.

Defend.

Alucard couldn’t think of anything except you and the baby while he was on the front line. The village had been so peaceful, for long he nearly forgot there were still monsters crawling around in the world. The stragglers that had grown stronger, the ones who persevered throughout the days, weeks, months. The stragglers that had already killed some of the makeshift infantrymen, the ones who have had nothing but time on their hands and are so hungry they see red. The stragglers that had Alucard running out to defend the village while you stay hidden away deep in the castle, barricaded and locked behind the safety of your shared home. They were evolved, instantly locking onto the dhampir who was the strongest amongst the men, bloodied grins widening: teeth sharp as blades that could tear through muscle and sinew with ease. Alucard steadied himself, gripping a little tighter onto his shield and sword, kissing its hilt and imagining your sweet face, the sweet face of his newborn daughter, and lunged.

You were frantic, trying so hard to stay calm if only for your energy not to be poured into the babe huffing and crying in your arms. You’d been trying to put her to bed, but how could she? How could she sleep when she felt your panic, your anxiety pulsing into the very air she breathed in? How could she sleep when your soothing rocking was more jarring than anything, your voice shaky as you shushed her? How could you ever expect her to calm her sorrows when, if you tried hard enough, you heard the incessant howls and screeches from the deadly monsters outside castle walls. You prayed, you prayed to all the deities and gods that could ever possibly exist to bring your Adrian back home. You’d never worry like this, he’s so strong, fending off the monsters with ease. But you’d never seen him so nervous like this either: having the heavy knocks of men on the castle doors begging for saving. The sheer strength of the creatures overwhelming them.

What felt like days passed, it could have been a few minutes, it could have been a few hours. You’re not sure, you and your daughter going in and out of sleep, waking at every creak and bang that was heard. You shushed and cooed, steadying yourself the best you could to maybe sing a lullaby to your darling girl. “Shh, shh, I know sweet pea--I miss him too. But he’ll be safe, he’ll come back..” You whispered, kissing her forehead as a tiny hand balled into a fist rubbed at scrunched up eyes.

Her eyes and words are so icy oh, but she burns like rum on the fire. Hot and fast and angry as she can be, I walk my days on a wire.

It looks ugly, but it’s clean, oh momma don’t fuss over me.

Way she tells me I’m hers, and she’s mine. Open hand or closed fist, would be fine. The blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine.

The cries lulled to a few whines and whimpers, holding her to your chest as you continued your hushed tones.

Calls of guilty thrown at me, all while she stains the sheets of some other. Thrown at me so powerfully just like, she throws the arm of her brother.

But I want it, it’s a crime, that she’s not around most of the time.

Way she tells me I’m hers, and she’s mine. Open hand or closed fist, would be fine. The blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine.

Singing has calmed you enough to keep a gentle bounce, baby slowly falling asleep in your arms. You internally sighed, thankful that at least the immediate worry of your child has been quelled.

Now all you can do is wait for your beloved.

Alucard ended the life of the final monster, hearing the victorious cries and hollers of the villagemen around him. He was grateful the battle had ended, retreating quickly to your shared home, finally able to hold you in his arms. Slowly, he opened the doors, knowing any sudden movements could stir his (hopefully) sleeping baby girl. He didn’t want to increase your stress, already guilty that he had to leave you in disarray. He made his way to the room he’d left you in, sure you’d still be in there: the nursery. The very nursery that you two built with your own hands, right next to his old bedroom.

Just like Vlad and Lisa.

As Alucard got closer, he heard small hiccups and babbles from his daughter, along with the soft singing coming from you. He recognized the song, a song you’d often sing to yourself when you thought he wasn’t listening. The same song you’d sing into his hair when he was half asleep. He pressed the door open, his heart stopping at the very sight of you whispering the song into your daughter’s fluffy mess of a head, eyes closed. You hadn’t noticed him, and he was grateful. He wanted to just take in the moment, all panic and anxiety of constantly thinking that something might have happened, that something might have gotten through the castle, all quelled the moment he saw you both.

He let you finish, giving you a moment before softly knocking on the door, your eyes darting to him immediately, tears forming in the corners of your eyes. “Adrian..” You whispered, voice heavy. He crossed the threshold, kneeling at your feet and holding you both without disturbing the sweet babe. “Oh thank god you’re safe.” You did your best not to cry, you really did, not realizing just how scared you were for his safety. But he was alive and well and back in your arms. “I’m here now, love, I’ll keep you both safe always.” He whispered into your hair, looking down at his baby with adoration.

“I heard you singing, love.” You hummed, calm enough now to put your girl down in her crib. The moment you sat back down though, Alucard’s head rested on your lap, hugging at your legs. You pet his hair, combing your fingers through the blond tresses. You hummed the melody of the song to him as his eyes fluttered close, breathing even. By the end you’d thought he’d already falling asleep, instead he spoke a whisper: “My darling, will you sing to me again?” Your heart clenched, and with a smile you responded:

“As long as you keep coming home to us, I’ll sing to you every day.”

Promises of False Kisses...

TW. Angst, body dysphoria, Big Body...

Blinking neon lights from the bustling Chinatown outside illuminated the bedroom. You could make out the silhouette of the knocked out man next to you. The top sheet barely covered his hips, hiding nothing from your gaze, and the smirk that seemed to plastered upon his peaceful face made you chuckle quietly before the deep ache of loneliness creeped in.

This man literally fucked you stupid and made you feel wanted in your own skin, fat rolls and dimpled thighs included. You knew that you weren’t the preferences of chiseled gods like him during daylight hours, but you knew gods like him always wanted to be with a girl that was only beautiful after 10:15. The only type of girl men like him loved at night. So you grew into your mid thirties learning to hit it and quit it and became closed off to the wonderful idea that you were meant for…feelings.

Standing quietly and moving with the finesse of a trained ninja you gathered your clothes and your heavy Doc Martens. Once you slipped on the easy dress and your jacket you looked one more time at the man illuminated by the red neon lights…then you left out his door. Disappearing into the throngs of souls upon the street you hugged yourself and tried to hide the body you hated. The usual intrusive negative thoughts of post nut clarity began to hit and you rushed home so you could shower and scrub off the remnants of the false hopes of men like him.

With the scalding shower and your skin now scrubbed the feel of the oversized hockey jersey hiding your body you finally lay in bed. Plugging your phone in and feeling the promise of a small amount of serenity encroaching. You stared at the ceiling, you hugged yourself once more, and could feel the pricks of tears. It was the curse of being in a bigger body…you were pretty enough for nighttime false kisses and whispers…doomed for the loneliness and revolting aversion to the promise of romance you passed by daily.

It wasn’t that you were mad at the world…you were just mad that you were never good enough. So here you lay in your bed…in your shitty little apartment…watching the lights from the busy streets light up your ceiling. You knew that men like him would never give you the time of day…but you smiled knowing you got to keep those false kisses and whispers to fill your stories to cover the fact your loneliness was real and give you the jaded view that love perhaps wasn’t real.

So you fall asleep smiling with tears and loneliness ripping through the fibers of your heart as you remember the way his large palms caressed and made you feel wanted. The way he kissed you so deeply and the way he made you feel like a goddess…you thought about that smirk and the laughter…you dreamed of what was never meant to be.

like the homie krankittoeleven, i pretty much only use angst as a plot device - there are only happy/hopeful endings in this household lmao - but if i consider context, the fic with the angstiest ending is probably Honorfall (zutara, rated E). maybe Of All the Things My Hands Have Held (zutaraang, rated M)..?

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

lots of my fics have happy endings ;))))) as for the happiest... ahh, probably If It Means a Lot to You (zukaang, rated M) and Flowers Never Pick Themselves (zutaraang, rated M).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

er, yes and no? i feel like hate is a strong word. it's more so that there are some readers who have simply ~disliked~ certain premises of mine, which, y'know, is what it is! click away or write your own shit! ♥

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

the good kind, baby, and absolutely nothing less. if it doesn't make me wet, i don't post it!

10. Do you write crossovers?

i used to! especially with and amongst irl friends. if there was a fandom i/we were into, there was a harry potter crossover in our shared docs to go with it LOL.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

an entire fic? no, not to my knowledge anyway. but i've definitely had some scenes and dialogue grabbed and scattered across the web over the years.

no ;-; i've never even had art made for/inspired by my fics ;-;;;; one day though. one day i am going to write something [clenches fist] so fucking good...

15. What’s a fic you’d like to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Take Care (zutara, rated M), and several other zutara fics that i have put into a graveyard so that even though they're unlikely to be completed, they can still be appreciated!

16. What are your writing strengths?

mmm. this is a bit hard for me to answer because i feel like i could use improvement everywhere, always. i could probably use some more work in my dialogue though (just having more of it, i think). with conflict resolution as well - circling back to angst, i usually gloss over it because i want [my] characters to have nothing but good times and good endings. i need to be less wary of putting them through some shit, which i am working on!

anywayyy. my biggest strength is my prose!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

up for debate, but personally my weakness is outlines. i try to use them but my brain does not like having "rules" when it comes to creating a story, even if i am the one to write them ;;

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

i'm a native (american) english speaker, so this question feels.. odd? bc ~american~? but as a native english speaker, i absolutely don't mind at all. i love languages and i love letting them into my brain! i myself use words from different languages, especially in what i'm writing is based in another country/place of origin.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

inuyasha! no you cannot see it, it's lost in the ether!

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Real War is Far Easier (zutaraang, rated M) and Performance Issues (zutara, rated E), which was a gift to the wonderful @zutarawasrobbed! there's a whole universe there that nobody but the two of us know about and i can't wait for the day that everyone can laugh about it as much as we do LOL

20 Questions For Fic Writers

The original Fic Writers Ask thread was super long, so like LycoRogue, I decided to create my own post for it, but please do check out the original thread.

1. How many works do you have on ao3?

I currently have 18, though I have more on FFN. 8 for Miraculous Ladybug, 5 for W.I.T.C.H, 4 for Hellsing, and 1 for Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji

2. What’s your ao3 word count?

As of this post, I have a total of 619,000 words. Wowzers...

3. What fandoms do you write for?

At the moment, I mainly write for Hellsing and Black Butler. But I have also written for Miraculous Ladybug, W.I.T.C.H, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

1. Madness Within (Miraculous Ladybug) 2. Double Trouble (Hellsing) 3. Experimental Kiss (Miraculous Ladybug) 4. Destiny's Dance (Miraculous Ladybug) 5. Go and Conquer (Hellsing)

5. Do you reply to comments?

Sometimes. I always appreciate every single comment, but sometimes I don't always know how to reply without just giving a generic 'thank you' again, and again, and again. But I do read them all, I promise.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Tough one. I think if I had to pick though, it would probably be Project Darkness, an old Sonic the Hedgehog fic of mine.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don't think I've ever done a fic with a 100% cheesy happy ending, but the happiest and closest to that would probably be Twelve Days of Chatmas (Miraculous Ladybug).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not usually, but I have gotten hate on Madness Within (Miraculous Ladybug), which I guess was always an increased possibility due to the amount of views that story has. However, that hate has only ever been on FFN. It was mainly people bullying me over long periods between updates.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Not usually, but you're more likely to see me write smut for Hellsing and Black Butler. There are some sexual scenes planned for the future in some of those fics for those fandoms. I can't see me ever doing a 'porn with no plot' fic, but it would be more like 'sexposition' and will make sense with the plot (e.g. advancing character relationships etc).

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one?

No, but I have thought about it on the odd occasion.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Oh yes, and it is so annoying! My work is usually stolen by people on Wattpad, and the most recent stolen work of mine was Destiny's Dance (Miraculous Ladybug).

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah, which is awesome! Amicus (Hellsing) has been translated into Spanish by ayelenrock, who is also planning on translating my other Hellsing fics into Spanish. I've had a few offers for my fics to be translated into French and Russian, however, those have yet to be published as far as I'm aware.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yeah, I co-wrote a few Sonic the Hedgehog fics with @free-in-the-wind and @jowyavilon at one point in the past. However, we didn't get very far with them and they ended up abandoned. Our lives were just too busy.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Alucard/Seras from Hellsing.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Probably Immortal Bonds (Miraculous Ladybug). I just seem to have lost all motivation for it, like with quite a few Miraculous fics of mine. It's a shame because I HATE leaving stories unfinished.

16. What are your writing strengths?

People tell me I'm good at writing realistic emotions, so I guess that would be one? A lot of people have complimented me on my accurate representation of mental illnesses. Also, apparently I'm also really good at writing realistic child characters, and they seem to always be a favourite of my readers.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Names. I'm terrible at them, and it takes me ages to settle on something. Also fight and action scenes can be quite difficult to write sometimes.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language for a fic?

A rule I tend to use is try to imagine like it's real life. You'd probably understand, or at least discern, certain words in another language, so I tend to write those in. For example 'bonjour', or even simple sentences. However, if a character starts speaking full, long sentences in a foreign language, then I do not write this in, as it would probably just sound like gibberish from the point of view of the character I'm currently writing for. I simply point out that the other character is speaking in said language. I hope that made sense?

19. What’s the first fandom you wrote for?

W.I.T.C.H when I was, like, 10 years old or something? Back then, I didn't even know what fanfiction was, I just knew that I enjoyed writing my own stories based on the characters.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I think I definitely have a soft spot for Double Trouble (Hellsing). I love Lily and Luna so much and they're so much fun to write!
