The funniest thing in Rule of Wolves is the Darkiling thought he could defeat the advanced Fjerdan army with some nerdy monks and a shadow show. Then the Fjerdan army pulled out some modern sh1t and my old man was confused as hell. He's like "I can't sexy wizard my way out of this"

Ok weird question but what kind of grisha do you think you would be? I read your darkiling fic and I’m curios and what kind of demigod?

Oh I think I’d be a healer 100000%. That’s actually why I made the reader one, I blame most of my reader inserts off of myself in one way or another for certain starting points. I try to leave bias out of it as much as possible, but for stuff that NEEDS to be decided (like what kind of grisha the reader is) I just choose who I think I’d be.

A LOT of my fics are actually directly based off of characters I made in D&D for spin off campaigns or daydreams I have and self inserts I create. I hope that doesn’t show too much, I do want my fics to be good for as many peeps as possible, not always just me

Maven, Darkling, Azula and Rhystrash

You know there is a HUGE difference between those characters. I really like Maven he is my favorite character, and although I don’t have any strong feelings about the Darkling I understand why people like him. I really disliked Azula the first time I watched Avatar but now I do like how complex and well written her charcter is. But I really dislike Rhystrash(he is not the character I dislike the most, this honor goes to the guy who was murderer in the hollow, by Agatha Christie).

So, what put Maven, Darkling and Azula apart from Rhystrash? All of them do horrible things and have tragic backstories, so what makes them so different? The way the narrative frames them. M, D and A are villains, of course they do bad things that’s what villains do. Their never put as tragic heroes or something like that. They are villains. But that doesn’t happen with Rhystrash, he is put as the hero, a tragic hero who was forced to do bad things because of the circunstances. But that is bullshit. By all means, he is a villain, he does what a villain does. He is manipulative, abusive, he tortures and kills people. He sexually assaults and mind rapes people. He is a villain, but he is treated as a hero, by the narrative, the main character and the author.

But everyone makes bad things and if they do basically the same thing why you like the others but dislike Rhysand? Because there is a difference between a villain doing horrible things and a hero doing horrible things. A good guy can’t be a good guy if he doesn’t act like a good guy, he can’t be treated as a good guy if he doesn’t act like one. And that’s what happens with Rhystrash. If he was put as at least a anti-hero, it would be an very different thing. But he is supposed to be the best person ever.

You have all the right in the world to like a villain. Maybe you like him because he is shympathetic. Maybe you like him because he is a complex person. Maybe you like him because he is less unsuferable than the protagonist. Whatever. Like it. But a villain being seen as a hero is problematic and makes me really angry. Because of that I think it is unfair when I see people put Rhystrash, Maven and the Darkling together as they are all the same thing. They aren’t. Maven and the Darkling are villains. Their job is to make horrible and disgusting stuff. But that is not Rhystrash case. He was supposed to be the good guy, and when the good guy is as bad as the villain or maybe worse, and the narrative contine treating him as the good guy we have a problem.

The fact that Rhystrash isn’t treated according to his actions makes him a very unlikeable character. Not that this can’t happen. For example Azula is a horrible person, but is super compentent. She was able to conquer Ba Sing Se. The difference between that and Rhystrash, is the narrative recognition of how unfair or bad the situation is.

Basically, there is a difference between a villain that is acknowledged by the narrative and the one that isn’t. There is a difference between liking a villain but recognizing his bad acts and liking a villain/character and ignoring or excusing his bad acts.

I know this text was quite repetitive and not well written, but I hope you were able to understand.

Both of them are people who look a lot younger than they are, and create a relationship of some sort with an eighteen-year-old girl with at least one glowing body part in order to achieve their own selfish end goals. They also both have a dramatic speech in which they victimize themselves and say that the protagonist is villainizing them, when that is not at all what is happening.

CIRI-CIRI ORANG MUNAFIK

Salah satu sifat yang amat dibenci Allah SWT adalah munafik.

Menurut bahasa, munafik diartikan sebagai berpura-pura. Sedangkan menurut istilah, munafik artinya berpura-pura dalam suatu hal.

Orang munafik juga disebut orang yang perkataannya tidak sesuai dengan tindakan atau kenyataan. Ciri-ciri orang munafik telah disebutkan dalam Al Quran dan hadits Nabi Muhammad SAWAllah SWT berfirman dalam surat An-Nisa ayat 145 bahwa orang munafik akan ditempatkan pada neraka tingkatan paling bawah.

اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ فِى الدَّرْكِ الْاَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِۚ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيْرًاۙ

innal-munāfiqīna fid-darkil-asfali minan-nār, wa lan tajida lahum naṣīrā

Artinya: "Sungguh, orang-orang munafik itu (ditempatkan) pada tingkatan yang paling bawah dari neraka. Dan kamu tidak akan mendapat seorang penolong pun bagi mereka." (QS. An-Nisa: 145)

Menurut tafsir Kementerian Agama, ayat tersebut menjelaskan tentang peringatan terhadap orang munafik, bahwa mereka akan disiksa di neraka pada tingkatan paling bawah karena munafik adalah perbuatan paling jahat.

Mereka (orang-orang munafik) disebut telah menipu Rasulullah SAW dan orang-orang mukmin. Maka, kelak mereka tidak akan mendapatkan penolong yang dapat menyelamatkan ataupun meringankan siksaan yang akan mereka terima.

Dikutip dari buku Pendidikan Agama Islam oleh Tuti Yustiani, berikut dampak negatif yang timbul akibat sifat munafik:

1. Perbuatan munafik akan merugikan diri sendiri. Munafik juga termasuk salah satu penyakit hati yang dapat menutup hidayah dari Allah SWT.

2. Orang munafik juga tidak akan dipercaya oleh orang lain karena mereka terkenal akan kebohongannya.

3. Munafik juga dapat memunculkan permusuhan atau ketidakharmonisan hubungan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat.

4. Merugikan dan menjerumuskan orang lain.Ciri-ciri Orang Munafik Sifat munafik diterangkan dengan jelas dalam Al Quran.

Bahkan, Allah SWT menurunkan satu surat yang berisikan orang-orang munafik, yaitu Surat Al Munafiqun, surat ke-63 dalam mushaf Al Quran.

Berikut ciri-ciri orang munafik sebagaimana terdapat dalam Al Quran dan hadits:

1. PendustaCiri orang munafik yang pertama adalah pendusta. Orang yang suka bedusta saat berbicara adalah orang yang munafik. Sebagaimana disebutkan dalam surat Al Munafiqun ayat 1 sebagai berikut

:اِذَا جَاۤءَكَ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ قَالُوْا نَشْهَدُ اِنَّكَ لَرَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ ۘوَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ اِنَّكَ لَرَسُوْلُهٗ ۗوَاللّٰهُ يَشْهَدُ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ لَكٰذِبُوْنَۚ - ١

Artinya: "Apabila orang-orang munafik datang kepadamu (Muhammad), mereka berkata, "Kami mengakui, bahwa engkau adalah Rasul Allah." Dan Allah mengetahui bahwa engkau benar-benar Rasul-Nya; dan Allah menyaksikan bahwa orang-orang munafik itu benar-benar pendusta." (QS. Al Munafiqun: 1)

2. Khianat, Ingkar Janji, dan ZalimSementara itu, dalam sebuah hadits riwayat Muslim, disebutkan bahwa ada empat ciri-ciri orang munafik.

Dari Abdullah bin 'Amr radhiyallahu 'anhu, ia berkata Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam bersabda

,أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ ، وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

Artinya: "Ada empat tanda, jika seseorang memiliki empat tanda ini, maka ia disebut munafik tulen.

Jika ia memiliki salah satu tandanya, maka dalam dirinya ada tanda kemunafikan sampai ia meninggalkan perilaku tersebut, yaitu: jika diberi amanat, khianat; jika berbicara, dusta; jika membuat perjanjian, tidak dipenuhi; jika berselisih, dia akan berbuat zalim." (HR. Muslim)

3. Malas BeribadahCiri orang munafik lainnya adalah malas beribadah kepada Allah SWT. Sebagaimana firman-Nya dalam surat An-Nisa ayat 142:

اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ يُخٰدِعُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْۚ وَاِذَا قَامُوْٓا اِلَى الصَّلٰوةِ قَامُوْا كُسَالٰىۙ يُرَاۤءُوْنَ النَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُوْنَ اللّٰهَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًاۖ - ١٤٢

Artinya: "Sesungguhnya orang munafik itu hendak menipu Allah, tetapi Allah-lah yang menipu mereka. Apabila mereka berdiri untuk salat, mereka lakukan dengan malas. Mereka bermaksud ria (ingin dipuji) di hadapan manusia. Dan mereka tidak mengingat Allah kecuali sedikit sekali." (QS. An-Nisa: 142)

4. Mengajak pada KemungkaranDalam surat At Taubah ayat 67 disebutkan bahwa orang munafik adalah orang-orang yang fasik. Mereka mengajak untuk berbuat mungkar dan mencegah untuk berbuat kebaikan

.اَلْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْضٍۘ يَأْمُرُوْنَ بِالْمُنْكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمَعْرُوْفِ وَيَقْبِضُوْنَ اَيْدِيَهُمْۗ نَسُوا اللّٰهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ ۗ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ هُمُ الْفٰسِقُوْنَ - ٦٧

Artinya: "Orang-orang munafik laki-laki dan perempuan, satu dengan yang lain adalah (sama), mereka menyuruh (berbuat) yang mungkar dan mencegah (perbuatan) yang makruf dan mereka menggenggamkan tangannya (kikir). Mereka telah melupakan kepada Allah, maka Allah melupakan mereka (pula). Sesungguhnya orang-orang munafik itulah orang-orang yang fasik." (Q.S At-Taubah: 67)

5. Suka Mencela Orang yang Berbuat KebaikanCiri orang munafik yang lainnya adalah suka mencela orang mukmin yang berbuat kebaikan. Sebagaimana disebutkan dalam surat At Taubah ayat 79:

اَلَّذِيْنَ يَلْمِزُوْنَ الْمُطَّوِّعِيْنَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ فِى الصَّدَقٰتِ وَالَّذِيْنَ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ اِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُوْنَ مِنْهُمْ ۗسَخِرَ اللّٰهُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ - ٧٩

Artinya: "(Orang munafik) yaitu mereka yang mencela orang-orang beriman yang memberikan sedekah dengan sukarela dan yang (mencela) orang-orang yang hanya memperoleh (untuk disedekahkan) sekedar kesanggupannya, maka orang-orang munafik itu menghina mereka. Allah akan membalas penghinaan mereka, dan mereka akan mendapat azab yang pedih." (QS. At-Taubah: 79)

6. Suka MenipuOrang munafik suka membuat tipu daya. Sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam surat Al Baqarah ayat 8-9

:وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَّقُوْلُ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِيْنَۘ - ٨ يُخٰدِعُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا ۚ وَمَا يَخْدَعُوْنَ اِلَّآ اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُوْنَۗ - ٩

Artinya: "Dan di antara manusia ada yang berkata, "Kami beriman kepada Allah dan hari akhir," padahal sesungguhnya mereka itu bukanlah orang-orang yang beriman. Mereka menipu Allah dan orang-orang yang beriman, padahal mereka hanyalah menipu diri sendiri tanpa mereka sadari." (QS. Al Baqarah: 8-9)
