Thank you so much!! I’m so glad you like my writing, it means a lot to me to hear that you enjoy my writing!! And Kokichi is one of the best Danganronpa bois, so I’d be glad to write for him!
Forgive me for not knowing everything about psychology, there’s probably some mistakes there. And this is a little cheesy but I wasn’t entirely sure how to write it.
Title: See Through
Pairings: Kokichi Ouma x Reader
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, therapist reader, Kokichi’s a little shit
Summary: You can see straight through Kokichi, and he’s not sure how to feel about that.
“Kokichi, would you like to have a therapy session with me? I’m not charging.” You teased.
Kokichi put a finger to his chin, as though he were thinking hard about your offer. “Hmm, doc, that’s very tempting, but I have to meet up with Shuichi at noon.”
You raised an eyebrow, clearly disbelieving, “You can just say you don’t want to do therapy, I’ll understand. No need to make something up.”
Kokichi just grinned back at you.
As the Ultimate Therapist, you had seen all of the other students so far, happy to try to lift them up in such a worrisome time. A killing game could take a toll on everyone’s minds, so you did your best to be there for them.
The others all had their own issues to work through. Maki had trust issues that had nothing to do with the killing game, Miu had a tendency to be promiscuous, Korekiyo had sister issues, Tsumugi was clearly hiding something, Shuichi had past trauma involving his Ultimate talent… While Kokichi refused to sit down and talk with you, it was clear what issue he had.
Lying.
There were two types of liars: pathological and compulsive. They were similar, but with key differences. Pathological liars lied for some sort of gain or manipulation. Compulsive liars couldn’t help themselves, and lied about even the smallest of things.
While you leaned towards the latter, you wanted to sit down and talk to Kokichi. You wondered what his reasons for lying were, although you had some ideas.
“Why do you lie, Kokichi?” You asked him pleasantly, “Is it to feel better about yourself or can you not help it?”
His grin faltered just slightly.
“Just have one session with me, that’s all,” you pleaded, giving him your best puppy dog eyes.
For a second, you saw his mask slip. That grin melted into nothing but a blank stare, his eyes swirling with an emotion even you couldn’t place.
Then, the grin was back and he was cheerfully saying, “Okay, okay, doc, no need to beg.”
He took a seat across the table from you, resting his chin on one of his fists while he watched you carefully, cautiously.
“Do you remember the first lie you ever told?” You asked.
Kokichi smiled, “Yes. I lied that I took a bath, when I didn’t.”
You held back a small groan, “Kokichi, I can tell you’re lying.”
“Well how am I supposed to remember something so long ago?” Kokichi asked, a little giggle escaping his lips.”
“That’s a lie too,” you monotoned.
Kokichi’s grin faded, “How can you see through me so easily?” His voice was serious this time, a little deeper than before.
“I’m a therapist, that’s my job.” You said briskly, “Let’s move on to a different question. How-”
“You smell like strawberries, you know,” Kokichi smiled, kicking his feet back and forth under the table like a child.
“Um, thank you,” you replied, unsure of how to respond. “How do you feel when you lie?”
“I feel bad-”
“No, you don’t.”
Kokichi finally seemed a little frustrated, his lips curling into a pout. You felt a little bad for pushing him too hard in your first session, but it was important for him to know that you weren’t falling for his lies.
“I don’t feel anything. Lies are just more interesting than the truth. There’s only one truth but infinite possibilities for lies. And there are lies meant to spare people’s feelings or not creep them out. I wouldn’t normally tell you, for instance, that I’ll do anything to make people I like like me, even strangle them if I need to. And you’re someone I like, doc.”
You swallowed dryly. For once, Kokichi was telling the truth. “I thought you disliked me.”
“Nope!” Kokichi popped the “p”, a dark grin spreading across his face. “Tell me if I’m lying here, doc.”
He leaned across the table, face drawing nearer to yours until his warm breath played across your lips.
“I follow you around the school sometimes, just because I feel warm being around you. I’ve picked the lock to your room and poked around in there, lying on your bed because it smells like you. I can’t help thinking about you every moment of the day.”
You swallowed again, closing your eyes and trying to still your wildly-beating heart.
He was telling the truth again.

COMMISSION: Kokichi Ouma dating a taller woman (headcanon list + drabble)
Word Count: 1.4K words approximately
Warnings/Details: SFW was requested, so any NSFW headcanons would have to be a separate piece. Expect fluff, romance, and possible unhealthy relationship elements because it’s Kokichi, but still SFW overall.
(A taller woman is defined here as literally even an inch taller than him, all the way up to a major height difference. I’ve dated a man only an inch shorter than me and definitely noticed that inch difference so we have a wide height range to work with here! I personally am imagining a woman at least a good five inches taller than him in my mind, but again, anyone taller than him in any way would work!)
As friends before you two were officially dating (but he had a crush on you):
Kokichi is definitely the type to tease and pick on the people he likes. It might even be hard to tell he has a crush on you because he’s mischievous and obnoxious with everyone. Depending on your personality type, you might enjoy just having his attention so often or, you might think he hates you or is just trying to bully you.
If you respond by liking the attention or teasing him back, he would get super confident and a little more touchy each time. It would become increasingly obvious that he’s flirting with you.
If you responded by pulling away or getting offended, he would become frustrated. In his mind it would be obvious that he likes you. Why else would he be giving you so much of his precious time and attention??? He would be a little whiny when you responded poorly or eventually feel the need to explain that he really likes you, but he would hate having to explain it. His cheeks would get all red, he’d roll his eyes, talking to you like you’re some idiot for not picking up on his cues.
Kokichi lies to everyone, even himself, so even though he acts like his height doesn’t bother him and even might joke about it sometimes, it probably bothers him at least a tiny bit deep down. He doesn’t make it a focus in his life but doesn’t like when people point it out, even if he plays it off and has a sarcastic rebuttal for them.
Therefore, when he finds himself crushing on you, a woman taller then him, he for sure would use your height to tease you. If he’s going to feel insecure, then everyone’s going to feel insecure. He doesn’t want you to think his height matters/is a flaw, so him teasing you will prove he’s confident in himself, right?
You’d definitely hear a bunch on uncreative jabs and nicknames: tree trunk, giraffe, skyscraper, stretch, bigfoot, lamp-post, daddy long legs, gigantasaurus, Goliath, stilts, rooftop, and so on and so forth.
He might surprise attack you, running and jumping onto your back and latching on. Whether or not this takes you down to the ground or you carry him around like a baby sloth matters little to him.
After you two start dating:
Sometimes, he will like to prove implicitly that he is not weak and not to be looked down upon for his size…
When you two are alone, he sometimes will pull at your hair or the collar of your shirt to bring you down to his height so he can kiss you or whisper in your ear.
He likes to put you in physically uncomfortable positions to fluster and corner you. Feeling like he’s in control and can make you nervous excites him.
He will corner you in hallways, push you up against walls and trap you in between his arms.
He’s much stronger then he looks, but like with most aspects of Kokichi, what you see initially, isn’t always what you get.
When you two are alone in his room, he will cage you below him on his bed to kiss you, hold you down, be more assertive and initiate make-out sessions.
If you’re sitting together talking or playing games, he might pull you onto his lap, reassuring you in his own immature, aloof way that you’re not too heavy for him.
The teasing never stops, and certainly not in public. Kokichi isn’t one to bring down his walls and be vulnerable and romantic in front of others. Protective, possessive, or jealous maybe. He reserves his true feelings and mushy moments for when you two are alone, and threatens you with death should you tell anyone.
If he does let out some PDA with you, it’s purposely to fluster you or scare away others that he thinks are interested in you.
Also, he’s very much the “Only I can make fun of Y/N” or “Only I can hold Y/N’s hand” type of boyfriend, especially if you’re insecure about your height already. He gets clingy and jealous even when you’re just being platonic with others.
You were sitting in your dorm room for once. Usually, you found yourself spending the night in Kokichi’s, but he was being rather secretive about his room for some reason this week. You sat next to him on the ground, looking at a splayed out deck of cards on the floor. You often spent the nights like this: with him, either wandering the school grounds and getting up to trouble or in his room where he could have you all to himself. He could be selfish like that, clingy. Sometimes seeing others get close to you made him more jealous than he’d like to admit.
And you could most definitely tell when it was one of his more needy days. He’d be more whiny, showing his true feelings through a furrowed brow here or a scrunched nose there. He sighed, tired of leaning his head onto your shoulder. He wanted more, more contact with you, more of you entirely. Without warning, he grabbed both hands firmly onto your legs and pulled you into his lap. He was sitting with his legs criss-crossed, and with an unexpected show of strength for someone of his size, he sunk his slender, pale fingers into the meat of your thighs and slid you effortlessly into his lap. He snuggled you in and you slotted perfectly into the cavity of his hips and thighs.
You squirmed in protest, gasping a little at the surprise of being lifted so suddenly. Your cheeks warmed up at the close contact and intimate position. He placed his chin back onto your shoulder, nuzzling against it every so often and resumed the game, handing you cards and promising not to cheat and peek at your hand (probably a lie).
When moments passed and you still squirmed about uncomfortably in his lap, he grunted, irate:
“Sit still, I’m trying to get comfortable!” He tilted his head, biting down into the skin of your shoulder in a childish display of frustration.
“Well… Kokichi… aren’t I a little heavily? Are you sure you want me to sit here like this…?” You finally voiced the apprehension behind your wriggling. You were bigger then him, and his frame was so lithe and petite. You felt like a beast crushing it’s prey. It wasn’t that you didn’t like the closeness and his touch, but you couldn’t help but feel self conscious.
“Why would I put you here if I didn’t want it, stupid head?!” He puffed his cheeks out in exasperation.
“It just… I mean I feel like I’m grating your pelvis into dust right now…” He wouldn’t say it directly, but he hated comments like this. Though he knew it was your own insecurities against yourself at work, he couldn’t help but be offended for himself, like you thought he was puny and weak at the same time. You would never say that to Gonta or Kaito, right? Even Kiyo, who was thin as could be would be spared from such comments. Why? Because he was 6’2”. Kokichi frowned at your comment, trying not to take out that anger on you, though he really wanted to.
“If you move even an inch, I’m going to bonk you over the head and knock you out…” he grumbled, wrapping both arms around your torso and crushing you into his chest in a show of dominance. He wanted to prove that he could hold you, he could be strong and in control, he could handle all of you.
You relaxed into his hold, feeling the beating of his heart against your back and deciding to let the topic go for now.
BONUS: In a NON-DESPAIR AU
He gets pissed, crossing his arms and practically steaming when you guys go to amusement parks and people imply that he’s not tall enough for certain rides.
He finds your body super attractive, content to sit back and simply watch you try on clothes without complaint.
He refers to you as his “tall gf” or “huge gf” in many different scenarios, even if you’re just the least bit taller than him.

“Closer.” Pregame Kokichi Ouma / Reader (Fluff)
CW: light cursing
note: this is from 2021 (?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You tapped your pencil against your desk, glancing over at the windows across the classroom. It had started to rain about mid-lecture. Your eyes flickered between the window and clock. If anything, school was the least of your worries. You glanced across the classroom, fixating on your gaze on your childhood friend, Kokichi Ouma. He lifted his head from his textbook, looking over at you. You didn't even try to hide the fact you were staring. Kokichi's face seemed to flush a bit, as the corners of his mouth lifted to warm smile.
After class, you wrapped your arms around Kokichi from behind for a hug. "Y/N!" He exclaimed, getting a bit startled. "How was class?" You asked, resting your chin over his shoulder. "It was okay .." He replied. You pulled away, moving over to face him. "I'm glad it's over but, I-I was wondering if you could walk me home? I just don't like going alone." Kokichi asked, looking over at you for an answer. "I'd love to!" You smiled.
You started to walk down the hall with him. Once you made it up to your lockers, you began to look for your umbrella. "Dammit!" You closed your locker with a sigh. "Did you lose your umbrella, Y/N?" Kokichi asked. "We can share mine. I-If you want to." He offered, looking away. "You don't have to do that-"
"But, I want to." He confessed, handing you his umbrella. You smiled, oblivious to the blush growing across his cheeks. "Thank you." You said, watching him smile back. For you, it was always the sweetest sight to see him happy. "We should get going before it gets any worse." He pointed out, watching you open his umbrella. "You're right .. well, are you ready?" You asked, gently taking his hand. He didn't say anything, but nodded.
Though you grew up together, Kokichi still seemed a bit shy around you at times. His umbrella was a bit on the smaller side, but you did your best to fit the two of you under it. You pulled him in a bit closer as you stepped out of the school, feeling his grasp around your hand tighten a bit. Hand in hand, your shoulders brushed together as you walked.
You didn't mind being close to Kokichi at all. You'd always notice how flustered he'd get when you would hug him, or snuggle up to him. Rain poured down against the side walk towards his house. But, you weren't paying attention to that. The only thing on your mind was the boy next to you. "Hey, y/n?" Kokichi turned towards you, a nervous look on his face. "Hm?"
You felt his hand tremble, his free one rubbing his cheek. "I just .. I wanted to thank you." He said, meeting your eyes. "Why?" You asked. "I've never had someone care about me the way you do." He suddenly stopped talking, and let go of your hand. "I'm sorry!" He stepped back from under the umbrella, tripping backwards. Kokichi reached out for you, and you quickly caught him. You pulled him into your chest, being able to feel how fast his heart was beating. "Are you okay?" You asked, noticing he still had his arms around you. He hummed in response, slowly pulling away. "I-Im sorry." He apologized once more. "I shouldn't be saying those kind of things, and I just .. just get so nervous around you sometimes." He began. "Hey, don't worry." You said, taking his hand. "It's alright." You said with a nod.
After a bit of awkward silence, you finally saw his house coming up in the distance. You walked with him up to front door. "Are you gonna be okay?" You asked, tilting your head a bit "Uhm. Yeah .. I think so." He said, sounding unsure. "Oh yeah! Thanks for letting me borrow your umbrella." You said, beginning to close it. "N-No! Keep it! It's still raining." He said, pushing it back into your hands. You turned back, it was pouring. "I guess you're right." You shrugged. "I'll see you tomorrow okay?" You waved, beginning to head off.
"Y/N, I wanted to tell you something." Kokichi tugged on your hand. You turned back, stopping in your tracks. "What is it?" You asked, seeing the tears sting in his eyes. "Y-You won't leave me, right?" Kokichi asked, squeezing your hand. He started overthinking every word that left his mouth, too afraid of scaring you. So afraid of opening up. "Oh, Kokichi." You frowned, pulling him into a hug. "You don't have to worry about that." You assured him. He tightened his arms around your embrace. "Y/N." Kokichi pulled back and rubbed his eyes. "I promise I won't leave you. I don't know what I'd do without you." He mumbled, glancing down to his feet. As he stepped closer, he hesitantly took your hands in his. "I-I .. I really like you." Kokichi said, face lightening up in a red tint.
"I've never felt this way towards someone." He said, gripping your hands. "I-I .. um .." He took a deep breath. "I like you, y/n."
You paused before saying anything, looking back at him. His school uniform and hair were a bit wet, and his face burned a deep red. You felt the shake in Kokichi's hands pressed against yours. "I understand if you don't feel the same way." He began to move hands away. You held on. "I like you too." You confessed with a smile. "Really?" He seemed shocked, but started to smile. He wasn't a big hugger, but .. he knew it made you happy. Anything that made you happy, made him happy too. Kokichi hugged you, nuzzling his head against your chest. "I love you y/n. I-I really do." Kokichi said, a bit more happiness in his tone.
Afterwards, the two of you headed inside. Kokichi had made some snacks for you. "A-Are you comfortable? I can find more blankets for you if you want." He said, cutting on the tv before sitting next to you on the couch. "I'm okay, don't worry about it!" You assured, pulling him closer. And so, you both snuggled and fell asleep together.

Sleep Alone
Pairing: Himiko Yumeno x Tenko Chabashira
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,129
Spoilers: Slight spoilers for up to chapter two of Danganronpa: Killing Harmony
Even with how awful things had been so far, Himiko never struggled to sleep. Typically, the mage’s day to day life already exhausted her enough, but throw in literally fearing for her life any time she left her room, and needing to debate so she and the rest of her classmates weren’t all slaughtered? This increase in likelihood of death was really beginning to take a toll on the already chronically sleepy girl. However, despite this, two so-called class trials and four of her classmates dead later, Himiko was suddenly stricken with a case of insomnia. She tossed and turned in bed, unable to quiet her mind down enough for even a moment of rest. She’d even attempted a few sleeping spells to ease her weary mind, but she’s noticed that ever since she’s been stuck in this school, her magic wasn’t nearly as powerful as it used to be. It was incredibly frustrating, the poor girl only wanted some shut eye! Who knew that what was supposed to be the easiest thing for someone to do would end up being such a pain?
After what felt like hours of unsuccessfully trying to sleep, Himiko simply resorted to just staring blankly up at the ceiling, a prickle of anxiety eating away at her slowly but surely. This little prickle began increasing more and more before she suddenly sat up, feeling a chill run down her spine. She instinctively gasped and hugged her arms around herself, feeling as though the walls of the dark bedroom were closing in on her and it was getting more difficult to breathe. She couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t stay in this room anymore. Throwing caution to the wind, she scrambled out of her bed and out of her designated bedroom, somewhat relieved to see that the large center area was empty, everyone else likely asleep. While slightly difficult to navigate in the dark, she eventually found her destination. Himiko took a deep breath, feeling suddenly anxious for a different reason, silently wondering if she should jump ship, simply go back to her own room and continue the feeble attempt to get to sleep on her own. However, a cold sweat on the back of her neck reminded her how much she did not want to do that as she found herself knocking on the door and awaiting an answer.
--
Tenko always had a very specific nightly routine that she adhered to. Naturally, it consisted of stretches and breathing exercises that her master had taught her. These were essential for getting a good night’s rest so she was ready to face the day and have enough energy for her Neo-Aikido! She was in the middle of her final exercise before finally heading to bed when she heard a knock at her door. Her expression dropping into a slight pout at having been interrupted, she hesitantly made her way over to the door, ready to give quite the verbal lashing to whoever it was. Especially if it was one of the degenerate males who dared to do so! Tenko opened the door, eyes blazing before quickly deflating after realizing who it was.
“Himiko!?” The name dropped from her mouth before she even processed who had been at her door. “What are you doing here? I mean, not that I’m not happy to see you, I was just wondering ‘cause it’s kinda late and I didn’t expect to see you…” She instinctively babbled somewhat nervously at the short mage’s intentional presence in front of her. Himiko was quiet for a moment, fiddling with the sleeves of her pajama top and looking off to the side, seemingly not wanting or able to look Tenko in the eyes.
“I..Well, the energy tonight has been really bad, so I wasn’t able to fully recharge my mana alone in my room… It’s a pain…” The redhead trailed off. Tenko looked at her in confusion before slowly understanding. She was scared to sleep alone. She nodded her head before moving to the side and allowing Himiko to enter her room.
“We definitely can’t have you not being able to recharge your mana! How would you do magic then!?” She closed the door behind her before looking back at Himiko with a thoughtful look. “Actually, I was just finishing up some exercises before I go to bed. They’re meant for Neo-Aikido, but I’m sure they’d help for magic! If you want to try one, of course.” Tenko offered, seeing Himiko tentatively nod.
“Okay.” She agreed with a small, shy smile. Tenko brightened up immediately, excitedly taking Himiko’s hands.
“Okay! So, it’s just a simple breathing exercise…” Tenko began walking Himiko through the exercise, being sure to correct the mage’s posture to be sure that she benefits the most from it. Himiko got the hang of it quickly, much to Tenko’s delight.
After a few minutes, Tenko noticed Himiko’s eyes begin drooping as her movements also slowed. It was clear that the mage was ready for bed.
“I think that’s good for tonight. You’re really good at this, Himiko! I’m proud of you.” She grinned at Himiko, who offered a tired smile in return.
“I do feel better. …Thank you, Tenko.” Himiko said quietly, before standing up and looking apprehensively between Tenko and the door. Tenko moved over to her bed, patting the empty space beside herself.
“Did you….wanna sleep in here, tonight? I mean- it’s totally okay if not, I was just offering in case the energies were still bad in your own room, you know??” Tenko stammered, her face heating up in embarrassment. Himiko looked relieved as she nodded, taking the empty space beside Tenko and curling up. A gentle smile crossed Tenko’s face at the action as she rolled over to the side, to give Himiko as much space as possible so she wouldn’t be uncomfortable. “Goodnight, Himiko. Sweet dreams.” She said, getting a quiet ‘mhm’ in return. She chuckled gently to herself and turned off the light, getting ready to sleep herself. A few minutes went by before she felt a warm presence closer beside her. Curious, she turned over only to feel arms wrap around her torso. “Himiko?” She questioned, only to be met with Himiko’s form, clearly in a deep sleep.
“Safe…” She heard a quiet mumble coming from under the covers. Tenko could feel herself blushing even deeper, thankful for the dark room and the fact that Himiko was sleeping and couldn’t see. Unfortunately, she couldn’t as much hide the rapidly increasing speed of the beating of her heart. She only hoped it didn’t bother Himiko as she slept. Thankfully, it didn’t seem to. Himiko slept well for the first time in a long time that night. Tenko did not, but she didn’t mind.

Sweet S/O gets a cruel punishment
Tumblr media
[ ONE-SHOT ] [ Kokichi Ouma ] [ Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony ]
⚠️ This contain a little bit of spoilers
Tumblr media
This was requested by @sleepyone2three, thank you for requesting it!! The version of the other characters requested you can find it in the masterlist
I have a love-hate for Kokichi, I don't justify Kokichi's actions but I kinda understand him, and from my point of view at the end he was brave and super smart the little bastard. Also, this is my first time writing for him I hope you like it!! 💜
Tumblr media
It could be pretty surprising to see someone like Kokichi, who likes to mess with everyone and always put jokes on others, with someone so sweet and patient, people may don't completely understand why you two are together but that doesn't matter, Kokichi loves you and you love him, that is the only thing that matters
Once you two get into the Saishu Academy and the killing game his attitude doesn't change much, however at the start he was a little more calm, still he finds this whole situation pretty interesting and exciting, or at least that was what he tell everyone, he find it interesting in a bad way, he doesn't trust the academy nor Monokuma at all and the posibility of you getting killed terrify him (but he doesn't tell you this)
Kokichi doesn't really trust in people and whenever he is atracted to someone normally is just because that person could be of use or bring him some fun, so for you two being a couple means that Kokichi deeply loves and trust you (not blindly but he does trust you), that is why he wants to win this killing game with you, you may don't like his idea but he doesn't like the idea of losing you, the only person he actually trust
Kokichi really appreciate and loves your patience, he can say a lot of little lies or put on you a lot of jokes and tricks and still you never get truly mad at him, he may annoy you sometimes but you still love him and you still are sweet to him. Under other conditions he will like to test your limits but inside of this killing game it wouldn't be a good idea if he wants to keep you by his side, in addition Kokichi grows more clingy and a little more serious and strict with you (it could seem like he is just joking or may he himself says that he isn't saying it seriously, but with you and only you he gets sincere and you can tell that his worries are true), he loves your sweet and calm personality but in a killing game that is just a disadvantage, you could be easily tricked by someone and end up killed, or worst, use you to kill someone else
Kokichi tried to warn you more than once to don't trust in anyone inside of the academy, anyone could be planning something against you or even use you, Kokichi doesn't trust in anyone there aside from you and he is trying to make you see that too, is his weird way of trying to protect you
However, no matter what Kokichi says or do that doesn't stop you from still trying to help the others, with your sweetness and patience you easily inspire the others and motivate them to work together, specially after what happened to Kaede
Kokichi has his own idea of how to end the game and he doesn't care what he has to do to fullfil his goal he is planning to do everything in his power to make the two of you survived and win this whole game
The killing game was stressful enough, the only situation made everyone nervous and somehow a little paranoid from time to time, adding Monokuma, the Monokubs and the incentives that they bring after every trial it makes things more difficult to endure, even when everyone wanted to end with the game the attitude of some of them doesn't help at all (Kokichi being one of them)
As patient as you can be everyone has a limit, between Monokuma and the Monokubs, Kokichi messing with everyone and you trying really hard for them to not attacking him was driving you crazy, and the situation just get worst when you add the investigations, the trials and losing more and more friends. Kokichi tries to remind you that you can't trust anyone, specially after the trials, and he isn't really good to bring you comfort and support in those moments, in other situation he would have less troubles with trying and show some vulnerability with you, giving you and craving for some comfort, but he can't just let himself do it right now, he has to be strong and keep his facade, Kokichi feels like that is the better way to survive but in his need of survive he forget about you in a more personal way
Everything started with an argument between you two, you wanted to make Kokichi see the things from your perspective, you wanted for him to stop messing with everyone and just try to find a way out of there, a way to end with the killing game with everyone else, into the other hand Kokichi just insisted on his own plan, he insisted that you shouldn't trust anyone in there and that he himself will end with the killing, even if he has to do it alone. The stress were making both stubborn, even it were making you lose your patient, however the problem comes with Kokichi, he was starting to feel desperate and stop thinking on what he was saying and just start to compare you to Kaede, remember what happen to her! she tried to help everyone and now she is gone! Do you really want to end up like her? You can't trust in anyone in here! Heck, you shouldn't even trust in him! He can easily being planning something against you too!
What Kokichi told you hurt, it hurt a lot, the discussion was escalating rapidly, it was just rising and rising in tone, even if you tried to cut him and go away it was too late because your argument bring the attention of the Monokubs, now under the lead of Monodam and he can't just let this happen, everyone is supposed to be friends and don't argument like this
It was just like an instinct for you to shield Kokichi, you were always like this, standing up for him when he gets into problems for messing with someone and trying to calm the other person, so this time you, once again, stand in front of Kokichi like hidding him and tried to reason with Monodam, you tried to tell him that everything was alright, you two are friends and get along really well he doesn't have anything to worry about, but Monodam heard your angry voice, and the hurtful words Kokichi had told you a moment ago it still hurts, as much as you tried to put an smile and look calm the sadness was all over your face and tears were close to fall from your eyes
Monodam obsesion for everyone being friends blind him from understanding that the situation was stressful, that in this kind of situation will be normal to break out just like how you two were just doing, he just take your obvious signs of sadness to say that you two weren't friends and he can't alow that, since now he took the control from Monokuma he has the power to punish the students, his plan was to just give the two of you a lesson, hopefuly after this you two will be friends, but human bodies are diferent from the bodies of his robots siblings and the hit were too hard for you to handle, and since you were shielding Kokichi you were the only one who recived the attack
To Kokichi was like it happened is slow motion, he isn't able to react until your body hit the floor, screaming in desesperation your name he runs to your side, with tears in his eyes he kneel by your side and check all over you, the hit was really hard, the exterior of your body maybe doesn't look too bad but the internal damage was the problem, there is no way to help you now (specially since no one in the academy has the profesional knowledge to do so), from this point there is nothing else to do than wait for your death
Even if Monodam understand what he have done Kokichi won't let him get near you again, not him, not the other Monokubs, not even the other students, he isn't going to let anyone get near you for a long time. On your last moments Kokichi can't do anything else than cry and beg you to please don't leave him, this whole time he just wanted to make sure that you two could get away from that stupid killing game and now, for his stupidity, he is going to lose you
When Kokichi finally start to calm down he quietly apologize to you and promise to end with the killing game for you, even if you weren't hearing him anymore
After Kokichi calms down he returns to his normal self, he isn't going to let anyone see how sad he is, how hurt he is nor how much he miss you or how much he blame himself for your death. However the others can intuit it since he doesn't let anyone talk about you, not even if is something good he imediatly gets irritated and scream at them, also he never tell anyone what happened, if they want to know how you died they will have to find out themself because he isn't going to tell them (nor Monodam, he is too ashame for what he had done)
After this Kokichi is more motivated and eager to end with this stupid killing game, he doesn't care what he has to do nor even if he has to put himself at risk, he is going to to finish this hell for you

“Danganronpa is the latest and greatest in Killing Game Entertainment! As they are the pioneers of their craft, they try to incorporate bigger and better gimmicks into each season. With the fiftieth season and beyond—the V0-series if you will—came the ‘implementation’ feature! As Danganronpa moved to virtuality to host their seasons, it became possible to program not just avatars for our Players, but false memories, talents, and personalities as well! All of this has allowed the characters to come to life before the audience’s very eyes! “See, there’s a special little agreement that one must sign before the game that’s part of the audition contract! It gives the Player the option to keep all of the artificial junk that Team Danganronpa stuffed into their head under the condition that they win! It’s an optional prize, but who wouldn’t want to keep their very own—very special—Super High School Level talent!?” A single checkbox makes Shuichi Saihara’s world spin. A single check mark makes Kokichi Ouma’s world break. --- Or, the killing game ends, but not everyone is back where they started.
After six years(?), I have finally returned to rewrite my post-game, saiouma fic which you can read [here].
The story follows, Shuichi Saihara after the events of V3. He discovers that the killing game was all a virtual reality simulation and all of his friends are alive, except anyone who didn't survive til the end AND sign off on keeping their in-game memories before the game has been reverted to their pre-game state.
It's a story of self-discovery in the wake of an identity crisis sprinkled in with the frustrating romance of two teenage boys!
It's been an arduous five months of work, but I've come to deliver 60K+ words to you, dear reader! Even if you have already read this fic in the past, I would strongly encourage you to give it a once-over/another chance. I have VASTLY improved the pacing, plot, characterization, and grammar, and I'm quite proud with what I've been able to create! I used to be very insecure with my writing style but in the past six(?) years, I have improved in both my confidence and prose.
Give it a shot, leave a comment, and just let me know what you think! Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated and I hope to continue working on this after taking a bit of a writing break! :D

In the moments Shuichi Saihara found himself entangled in the delicate threads of love, his usually sharp and analytical demeanor softened. His eyes once focused solely on unraveling mysteries, now held a warmth and tenderness that spoke of emotions beyond logic. Love, it was.  The vulnerability that was a lack of better words was replaced with something he could never offer. Shuichi has always found himself reluctant to take leadership roles or even compare himself to being charismatic in the slightest.  This ever-present determination that defined him in investigations now coexisted with a gentle uncertainty when it came to matters of his heart. Bleeding out of control with lush and victory: he approaches his emotions wisely. However, he was nowhere close to the lover he wished to be. As he sat wasting away the time he thought he had. A trickle of sweat beaded on his brows as he slumped over his desk. Shuichi Saihara sat alone in his corridors with only a few colors to show for it. A soft and distinctively cyan glow illuminated from what can only be foretold as a lamp. A dim lamp. A lamp that has mold and ruggedness that can only foretold with the simple word, gross. Yet, there he was, in this killing game, awaiting disaster to strike at any given moment, give or take. He patiently laid in a room of solitude, once a sanctuary for loved students to a penitentiary for unraveling mysteries and mental exhaustion. Shuichi let out an excruciating long sigh before raising his head, “I can’t believe how long it has been, maybe… Maybe Kaede was right. Maybe we’re all just trapped in a never-ending nightmare.” His sigh was not of relief, but of fear. A fear that can only be considered as infeasibly large dumbbells hanging across his shoulders. He couldn’t take it. No, the idea of losing his faith and who he was just clogged his way of thinking. He needed to let something out, to talk to someone, to alert his feelings, and just release some of this tension he had built inside. “I can’t keep this up, I need… I need…” In between deep breaths and short-sighted anxiety, he paused. “I need to tell them.” Without a second thought, he rushed down his room into (Y/N)’s, knocking profusely before stumbling into their room. “(Y/N)!” Shuichi called, “I can't hold this in anymore.” Sharply, his tone shifts from the well-known shy and innocent guy he’s always been to a complex warmth of emotions. Shuichi looked forward, noticing all the implicates of who (Y/N) was, and what made them unique. He adored all their attributes, in more ways than one. As he froze, watching them, he could only muster a word or few. “I’m.. in love.” not even a moment later Shuichi says these words before hesitantly holding (Y/N)’s hand. It started from their fingertips, holding the ends in hopes of an invitation to continue. (Y/N) nodded, pushing into his fingers and locking their hands tight. Shuichi smiled at their acceptance, “I’m in love with you, I think I always have been.” His gestures, though subtle, spoke volumes. A lingering touch, a genuine smile that danced in his eyes, or a momentary pause in conversation—all revealed the intricate dance of emotions he was navigating. Suddenly those feelings don’t feel as scary anymore. A hush of words was only a gentle surprise as they drew each other closer, their fingers intertwined, their adoring shared and their love fleeting at every second. Flushes of red shared between the two’s faces as Shuichi squeezed their hand tighter against theirs, opening the cracks to his normally composed exterior.

i love ur yan kokichi omg i need more... plot can be whatever u want go crazy babe
I hope this turned out okay- I decided to mess around a little and came up with this plot. A bit cheesy and short, but my brain isn’t working well.
Title: Frayed Edges of Sanity
Pairings: Kokichi Ouma x Reader
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, Kokichi is a ghost, murder
Summary: Are you losing your mind, or is someone behind all of the hallucinations after all?
“Fighting the fear of fear
Growing conspiracy, myself is after me
Frayed ends of sanity
Hear them calling”
-From “Frayed Edges of Sanity” by Metallica
“So this is the place,” you wrinkled your nose a little as you looked at the decaying house.
A patchwork roof riddled with holes, peeling paint, a generally displeasing aura… that about summed up the manor you were met with.
But it was a house. And it was free. What kind of person would turn that down?
Apparently your great uncle, who you had never met, had entrusted this house to you for some reason. The whole thing seemed like a scam but here it was- an actual place to live. No strings attached.
There was no path to the front door, so you walked through the yard, grass crunching under your boots. The yard is choked with weeds and the grass is turning brown. The entire property is one big mess.
“This is going to take a ton of work,” you groaned. You should’ve known this would be a little too good to be true.
But still, it was a house. Not your tiny, musky, thin-walled apartment or an extra room at your parents’ place.
You unlocked the door and pulled it open, ignoring the ear-splitting creak it gave you in reply. There was a mirror in the entryway and you nearly walked by it, when something in your peripheral vision flashed in the glass. You took a step back, but the mirror didn’t show what you thought you’d seen.
No dark-haired boy in sight.
You shook your head, banishing the thought from your mind. It had simply been a trick of the light, that’s all.
Your therapist had suggested you keep a journal to document your mental state. Since you were starting over your life in a new home, you might as well start a new habit.
January 8th
Got a new house! Finally out of that awful apartment.
Looking forward to a brand new start.
—-----------------------------------
January 26th
I feel like someone’s watching me. And all night, I hear giggling.
I think I’m going insane.
You put the pen down and buried your face in your hands. Every day, you felt like you were slowly going crazier.
Your furniture kept rearranging itself, your possessions kept disappearing, you kept hearing a voice whispering in your ear, telling you to turn around, only for you to find nothing there.
You climbed into your bed and pulled the covers up to your ears. You closed your eyes but the feeling that someone was watching you was overwhelming.
You opened your eyes and were met with a pair of purple ones.
“Good moooorning, sleepyhead!” A playful voice met your ears. Your blood ran cold- that voice was the same one whispering and giggling in your ears since the day you walked in.
The dark-haired boy was floating upside down, arms behind his head as he regarded you with amusement.
“Who… What are you?” You demanded, scooting back on your bed until your back hit the headboard.
“I’m Kokichi Oma,” the boy replied. He puffed out his chest and added, “I’m a ghost.”
“Why am I only seeing you now?” You asked suspiciously.
“Get up,” Kokichi’s grin grew, “Get up and you’ll see.”
He held out a hand to you, but you waved it away from you, anger bubbling up inside of you. He’d been bothering you for weeks, making you think you were insane.
You slowly stood up, watching Kokichi carefully. He merely gave you a closed-eyed smile and pointed behind you, “Now turn around.”
You obeyed him and, as soon as you did, your entire body froze.
There, on the bed, lay your body.
Your eyes were open, unseeing, glazed over with death. Your skin was several shades lighter than it usually was and a dribble of blood had dried on your lips. A knife was driven through your chest, blood soaking through the shirt in the area around the blade.
“I’m… dead…” You stared at your body, realizing only now that you were just a spirit, “Kokichi… what happened?”
“I killed you,” Kokichi supplied cheerfully.
“What?!” You shrieked, “Why?”
“So you could finally be with me,” Kokichi pouted, “You couldn’t even see me while you were alive. But I hung out with you for a while and decided that we should be together!”
“What is wrong with you?” You screamed, “You killed me because you wanted me to be able to see you?”
“That’s not the only reason,” Kokichi said, “Now, I have you all to myself.” Kokichi let out a loud giggle, “If you don’t believe me, try talking to anyone else. They can’t hear or see you.”
“I’m all you’ve got left.”

Small analysis on DR murder mystery no one asked for but I wrote it anyway!
Danganronpa! A colourful series of murder mysteries with a pink tint of blood. The last addition to the series – Danganonpa V3: Killing Harmony – has been around for 7 years now and that makes me automatically feel so old, but hey what’s worse than that is to think that 2019 was 5 years ago now. It’s been half a decade since the start of COVID epidemic and that alone would make someone sick. And during these years I found myself in and out of Danganronpa fandom spaces. Specifically a Fan Danganropa fan spaces, the inception goes crazy on this one. I am a big enthusiast of taking the Danganronpa’s core ideas and shaping them into something new. I don’t really go into actual canonical Danganronpa fandom, because, well, it's a completely different can of worms that I really do not want to deal with. I've had enough discourse these past 5 years in MCYT fandom and am really tired. But that’s a side tangent.
What we are actually here today is to take a peek at what makes the most intriguing part of any Danganronpa game tick – the murder mystery. And as a side hustle we can take a peek on how different characters affect it. And just maybe a structure of the plot itself. (spoilers for mainline dr games ahead)
So, first thing first let’s look at the way a chapter in the main line Danganronpa game is structured, something you guys know very well.
DAILY LIFE
First we have a Daily Life. On the first glance you might think – “What Daily Life has to do with a murder mystery aspect of the mainline game? Isn’t it supposed to be a peaceful time with no murder?”. And on the surface you are right. But Daily Life serves many purposes for the Murder Mystery: Environment, Motive and Social Interaction.
Firstly, set up of the environment. Like props on the stage, rooms and layout of the building or other environment that is introduced in Daily Life will affect the murder in some way. It’s basically Chechov’s Arsenal we’re talking about. If there’s a gun in the first act, it must be shot by the end of the third and if there’s a garbage compactor in the Daily Life it must be used in a murder. Of course as we progress down the chapters and the area of the Killing Game’s grounds grow bigger it gets harder to just keep in mind what happened when and what rooms have what. And mainline DR games really suffer from “we used this room once in one chapter and forgot about it” disease. But in defence of the games, the area they work with is usually so unbelievably huge (especially suffers SDR2). I really don’t blame them for not utilising stuff from previous chapters in new ones.
But also it’s what is really easy to fix for us, the murder mystery and DR enthusiasts, in our own Danganronpa-like stories. All that needs to be done is to shrink the scale a notch. Instead of opening up a whole new section of buildings or new floors every new chapter, it’s worth opening up a few rooms. It’s also important, listen to me, it’s very important that every new room that is opened is unique in some way. You should not be able to replace it with a room from the previous chapters and you should not be able just get rid of it without significantly changing the plot! It shouldn’t be just a prop that characters alternatively hang out in. This one gets really bad in V3 with the Ultimate Research Labs – most of the labs were not really special and not used at all, which is a pity.
The second thing which is provided to us by Daily Life is a motive. Motive is a really broad term for any event that was planned by the Mastermind or organiser of the Killing Game. It can be Practically anything, but what’s important to keep in mind is that it’s something that someone who Wants murder to happen made. It’s basically a stimuli for a murder however it might present.
Some of the cannon motives in Danganronpa, especially in the very first game, are very trivial, while the others are kinda weird. In the THH it was the very point that Junko was making – the Ultimates, so called symbols of hope, will actually abandon morals like any other person for such trivial reasons like secrets and money. In SDR2 and V3 they just kinda decided to get crazy with them. The infamous Despair Disease and that Virtual Reality thingy or even the First Blood perk. Because, well, Ultimately both of the games’ Masterminds didn’t have anything to prove with them. One existed to just simply send players into a state of Despair again and the other was a TV show for fun.
Which leads to this interesting point – the Motives of your Danganronpa-like story should reflect the Mastermind’s ambition or their own motive for making a Killing Game. Also, personally I think it would be nice if every motive was related to the main theme of your story. Since the Mastermind tries to prove something to the cast to “win” over them, the protagonist usually symbolises the opposite idea (ex. Makoto “Hope” vs. Junko “Despair”; Hajime “Future” vs. Izuru & Junko “Past”; Shuichi “Truth” vs. Tsumugi “Lie”), so it would be a great chance to show how Mastermind thinks and how cast and specifically the Protagonist overcomes the motive from the other side of the ideological spectrum. And it works to show the grey area of the spectrum too, but it’s way deeper into themes than into murder mystery itself.
And the final third part that presents in the Daily Life I eloquently named “Social Events”. To clarify, I do not mean like Free Time Events, no. I mean Major Events that were organised by the cast that played into the murder. A lot of people caught on to the importance of this one element of Daily Life, but got stuck on the execution part of it – something I dubbed in my head as “Party Syndrome”. Categorised by the extensive need to write a some sort of party in one too many chapters.
Jokes aside, the Social Events are VERY important for a murder case in every Danganronpa chapter. Basically Social Events is something that characters That Are NOT the Mastermind do that will affect the way the murder will play out. They are often made to be something to combat the Motive or other ways to cope with the reality of being in a killing game. Rarely they are set ups organised by a wannabe killer and when they are, the wannabe killer got beat to it by someone else. Except for all chapter 3 murders. Yeah, one of the absolutely weakest parts of every Dangnronpa games, what a surprise. Not! Absolutely no one is surprised that the most obvious murders have the easiest solution – a person who set the whole thing up. Which is an important lesson – sometimes the thing that makes the most sense is not a good answer for a good murder mystery.
There’s actually a lot of good examples of Social Events in the mainline DR games that aren’t some party. Like the switch of rooms between Sayaka and Makoto, the sauna challenge between Mondo and Kiyotaka, Kaede’s and Shuchi’s Mastermind investigation, Kaito’s and Shuichi’s training, Insect Meet and Greet (technically. Not a party. Kidnapping).
A lot of fangans faced this criticism about how weird it is to throw a party in the killing game, which is absolutely completely fair. Whatever your social event is, please remember that your characters in the story feel the weight of death on them. Even the most carefree and borderline delusional ones. Which unless it’s the point, not all and definitely not most of them. Keep it real, ask yourself would YOU approve of such an event in these circumstances? If not, why would it happen anyway? Or come up with other ways to introduce social activity. Remember the worst your characters can be is passive and reactive in lieu of being active and making decisions.
And that’s about covers Daily Life, in conclusion to the end of the segment I would like to say that Daily Life should highly set up the scene for Deadly Life, they should not exist as two separate entities. Of course when murder happens you are supposed to feel shocked, but to a reader of Danganronpa-like story it’s very obvious that the murders will happen. There’s no point of trying to surprise the audience, they highly expect it. So, set the viewer up properly instead of trying to use an element of shock. But don’t fall into the pit of predictability either. It’s a delicate balance.
DEADLY LIFE
Before we could go into details of Deadly Life part of Danganronpa Murder Mystery inner workings, I want to make a note of the methods they use to conceal the identity of the killer: time of death, murder scene and murder weapon. Or simplier put: “when?”,” where?” and “how?”.
On the most rare occasions it’s also “who?” as in “who’s the victim?”, such as in chapter 5 and 6 of THH and chapter 5 of V3, one of the most convoluted chapters of the entire game trilogy. The reason why it’s so rare is because, at its core, DR Killing Game is a closed murder mystery which means we have a set number of characters we know, so it becomes obvious who’s not with us anymore. It’s a really hard trick to pull off to completely disguise a victim to beyond recognition And not make it obvious who is missing from the cast. In THH it’s achieved by “extra body” of a secret sixteenth’s student who was murdered by a mastermind previously, the whole chapter relied on that lack of knowledge and was a set-up by a mastermind to get rid of one of the players. In the V3’s case however the idea was flipped – now it’s a plan of two students working together to confuse the game and break it, which was supposed to result in beating it entirely. The idea of both is pretty clever and it’s what sets these 5th cases apart so much.
But generally the culprit will try to conceal the true time of death, the true murder scene and the true murder weapon to hide their identity. Or for other reasons (ex. Mondo moved Chihiro’s body to Girl’s changing room in order to keep his secret rather than hide a true murder scene).
You should be aware that no matter how much effort you put into murder, there’s no such thing as a “perfect murder”, there never is. Especially in the DR killing game. The game is NOT fair for the killer, please, understand it. Your killer works alone against a group of innocent students AND against the Mastermind. Mastermind does want to test the participants’ abilities and for them to feel despair of possible looming death. HOWEVER, the mastermind won’t allow the unsolvable. The mastermind wants the game to continue, this is why they provide a case file about a murder. Of course they would leave out some information that would probably reveal the identity of the culprit immediately, but generally the mastermind's goal is to have the innocent party win and win until there’s 2 (or 3, depending on the rules) students remaining.
Also even if it wasn’t that way, it’s nearly impossible to set up a perfect murder, due to a killer and a victim being flawed. Everyone makes mistakes, especially in a high stress situation as murder.
Now we can move on to Deadly Life.
I would love to divide Deadly Life in three parts: a body discovery, investigation and a trial. Very obvious division, but an effective one at that.
When we talk about Body Discovery I of course mean these things:
When was the body discovered?
Who discovered the body?
What circumstances led to discovering the body?
These things are crucial to understand when you write a body discovery, because Discovering a body is one of the important things for the killer in the DR scenario. Until the body is discovered there will be no trial held, which means the killer has no chance of escape even if they kill somebody.
When was the body discovered? Time frame. In the killing game time measured a lot like this daytime/nighttime due to having morning and nighttime announcements and some areas being off-limits during night.  Which actually doesn’t matter for Mastermind, I think. Like a lot of rules have literally no effect on the mastermind (like no sleeping outside dormitories). They are made exclusively for the murder mystery part, so guilty students could take advantage of it. When answering this question it’s also important to think “How much time has passed between actual death and the body discovery?” and “Why did it take this long to discover it?” and “Why discovering it at this time would benefit or hinder the killer?”.
Who discovered the body? According to canon DR rules across the trilogy, the body is officially discovered when three non-guilty participants see it. It’s a very special rule to the killing game and stayed a very important part of it across the mainline games. It’s often used to either deduce the killer or prove the innocence of one of the suspects. When you answer this question, think about “Why was it they who discovered the body?” if discovery wasn’t immediate after one person found it why didn’t they tell others?
What circumstances led to discovering the body? Did the group of participants just accidentally stumbled across the body? Did they come looking for this person, because they were missing? Were they doing something unrelated and the body just sort of dropped on them? Did they actively witness death live and where too late to save the person? And most importantly “why is this circumstance important/not important (in case they didn’t do any preparation) to the killer?”
Noticeably every part should include an answer to “Why?”. Killers in DR do not do anything for no reason. BECAUSE IT’S A WASTE OF TIME! If something doesn’t benefit them in some way, do not do it. Very simple.
The Investigation is a mandatory part of the game where you run around and note down all the clues you can find, as the name suggests. It’s always a convenient amount of time when at least one person finds everything there’s to find physically. The main mistake you can make during the investigation is to give out all the information about the circumstances of a murder. You give out hints, not the whole murder and it’s very important. If your audience solves the murder entirely from investigation alone – you’ve failed to write a mystery.
Class Trial – the main event of the Deadly Life, where innocent parties try to find the guilty and where the audience should try to puzzle together the whole mystery. During a class trial some new details about the murder should present themselves as we go along. Like for example in my absolute favourite case 4 for SDR2 where we deduce the layout of the funhouse. Something that we couldn’t understand from investigation alone. But it doesn’t have to be anything big like a whole layout of the building. It can be details of someone’s seeing the victim or the killer and realising it at the moment, the details of how some part of the mechanism works, etc. Also it’s the perfect time to catch slip-ups. The DR community do not usually like when something is solved on pure chance of slip-up, so if you plan on using them, make sure that instead of chance, your characters set up a trap for their suspect to fall in. That would look MUCH cooler than if your culprit just gave out too much info by accident.
A danganronpa case always gets solved because it was something specific to a character that only the culprit could have done, but it is not supposed to be obvious from the start.
Also I really want to bring attention to the victims of the case. Victim is an important part of the case WITH the killer. They should play an active part in the murder. This will further the context to the murder and give more mystery. Was the victim doing something to provoke the culprit? Why did the culprit choose this character as their victim? Did they even have a choice? If the victim was strong, how were they overpowered by the culprit? What if they wanted to be murdered? What if they tried to fight off the murderer and lost? Did the victim have habits a culprit took advantage of? All of that WILL directly affect the murder mystery. Make the victim an active character and make it so no one else but this character can be a victim in this case.
FROM START TO FINISH?
The truth is – murder mystery starts with a new chapter, we just do not know it yet. When you start writing a chapter you should already have an idea of who the culprit and victim are and how you want to carry out a murder in this chapter. Because you need to go through several steps and even the first one – level design with it in mind. It's kinda a question of “what came first, a chicken or an egg?”, but instead of “chicken” and “egg” it’s a “murder plan” and “level design”. Say, I can’t exactly tell if the idea of Kirumi using a ropeway that connects the gym window and a window of Ryoma’s lab through the pool came before or after they designed a level like that. And neither do I know how the hell they had an idea to use a confusing building structure of a funhouse from SDR2 as a “secret weapon” to kill a guy. But what I do know, it was set up from the very beginning of the chapters.
What I do know is, when you already have an idea who the culprit of the case is, try walking them through the chapter as if they were the protagonist. “What made them want to kill now?”, “how did they choose the victim, the timing?”. Construct a “perfect murder” from their POV, divide it into parts and think about what can go wrong? Because something always goes wrong. Maybe rules will affect their plan, or there will be some witnesses the culprit wasn’t expecting. If the whole thing was actually a freak accident – how would they react and improvise? How can you involve other characters into that murder otherwise?
Just start somewhere and answer your questions “what’s next?” on the way. When you write it it may seem genius and convoluted or maybe on the flip side, too simple and obvious. So my advice is to have a story “beta-testers”. When you finish the draft of a full chapter – send it for a reading to someone who could provide you with feedback on the quality of the mystery. They will tell you if you are being an idiot. If you work completely alone then it gets real hard to judge the story.

“Lost & Found.” Shuichi Saihara / Reader (Fluff)
CW: mild cursing
Tumblr media
"Shit! Shit-No! No..No..No-" You pulled all the sheets from your bed. "Where is it?!" You groaned in frustration, sitting back on your mattress. You had lost your journal. Normally that wouldn't be so bad. Only you had some pretty embarrassing things written in it. What if it got into the wrong hands? Maybe you were stupid for keeping a journal in a place like this. Who knows what would happen if all your words were shared with everyone?! Especially not the person you were crushing on! It was only a crush, really. You'd only fill pages with your poetry, and sometimes you'd write about your classmates. One in particular though. Shuichi Saihara, that is. Even thinking of him made you smile. Only, You didn't want him to know!
You decided to leave your room and search elsewhere. Hoping nobody had found it before you had. It was so much easier writing than talking to someone about it. Or actually telling them how you felt. Maybe you were kind of a loser. A hopeless romantic at best!  Always wanting more out of things, always wanting to be somewhere else. Oh god, anyone who reads that would know! The last person you would want to find it would be Shuichi himself. How could you make such a foolish decision to leave your room with it? You'd be embarrassed .. you'd probably let yourself get killed instead!
You tried retracing your steps. (with each step further from your room.) Where was the last place you remembered having it? You mentally scolded yourself, being so careless like that? You stopped in your tracks. The library? Maybe someone had mistaken it for a book? You were grasping at straws here. Your anxious voyage began, keeping trembling fingers crossed in hopes that nobody had found it before you. Hopefully, that is.
____
You walked into the library with confidence. Those anxious fingers fumbled with your sleeves, looking around the disheveled area. "There's no way I'll find it in here." You admitted to yourself in a mumble, realizing that even if it was there, there was no way you'd have much luck sifting aimlessly through books. It was an average, run-of-the-mill journal. It would blend in perfectly! You only felt worse now. You absolutely poured your heart out into that journal! You accepted your loss and gave up. (in defeat. in sorrow!)
When looking around the library, you were sure you'd never find it in there. Maybe it was just lost for good. You hadn't written your name in it. So, It could always remain a mystery. (worst-case scenario.) It would still leave you very anxious. Maybe there was somewhere else to look? Geez. You sighed, taking your frustrated and upset leave towards the exit of the library. This was ridiculous!
Your monologuing was cut short when colliding right into someone. Someone - Someone who sounded very familiar. You stepped backward, almost falling over on your own feet. "Sh-Shuichi!" You were a little startled. Even if you wanted to make up an excuse to get out of this situation, you couldn't. "Sorry-! Sorry, I should'-"
He seemed more shaken up than you were. "Is something wrong? Did something happen?" He grasped your shoulders, "No-No .. Uhmn. I was just-I'm fine." You nodded, assuring him of that. He let out a relieved breath. (still sounding anxious!) "I was meaning to talk to you." He said, sliding his hands from your shoulders. The pressure of his fingers was warm. No! Don't get flustered now!
"You ... were?" You questioned feebly, staring back at him. "It reminds me," He ducked his head down, pulling a small notebook from his pocket. "My journal!" You gasped out. Before he could even finish his sentence, you were reaching out for it. He allowed you to do so, carefully handing it over. You noted how his fingers brushed over yours. "I found this yesterday," Shuichi explained. "I wasn't sure what it was or who it belonged to. If it belonged to anyone at all .." He began. "Though, I thought it was unethical to read someone's journal."
You were so relieved! Thank God, Shuichi hadn't read it! You held your journal close to your chest, nodding to his words. "S-So I didn't .. at first." He admitted. Seemingly ashamed to say it. "Huh?" You thought aloud. Quite the loud reaction, might I add. The fingers holding that damned journal to your chest trembled. You were at a loss for real words.
"I'm sorry, y/n." He apologetically spoke your name. "I-Well .." He nervously laughed, sounding taken aback himself. The red flush of his cheeks was easy to understand. "I had this feeling about it. I shouldn't have .. I know that now." His eyes darted away from you. (anxious?) "I knew it in the first place. Maybe it's the curious intuition in me. But, The writing.."
Shuichi looked back to you, "The delicate words. y/n, I  knew it belonged to you." He confessed.  You stared back at the boy before you. Each word that came out of his mouth sounded just as uneasy as the next. (nervous regrets?) You felt the same way. With a lethal grip on your journal, you could only nod. He read your journal. All those paragraphs on how you felt, and what you felt for your classmate? (Indeed, you had pure intentions!)
You were terrified of his next words.
"Did you.." He cleared his throat, "y/n, Did you .. really mean all that?" He questioned. Your hands were sweating now. That was it! He knew .. he knew it all. "Uhmn.." You couldn't muster the strength to keep looking at him. Your eyes met the floor, taking in how close you were to him. You were burning up. A furious red in your cheeks; anxious sweat mixing with your emotions. "You wrote with such honesty and emotion .. You couldn't have been dishonest. y/n." His voice was comforting to you. But he sounded nervous.
Shuichi had gone over the possibility that you felt something for him. More than your friends did. He didn't have enough confidence within himself to believe it though. "If I make you feel that way? .. I don't think anyone has ever thought of me that way." He confessed. (breaths were trembling!) "It's only poetry, Shuichi." You spoke quietly and lifted your head. Just enough to see his eyes. "Only poetry?! No. Your words .. they mean something y/n." He corrected you, reaching out for your hand. "To me, at least." He smiled.
You swallowed, grasping his outstretched hand. There was an awkward noise from him with your warm squeeze. "I-Erm-" He choked up, surprised you'd return the proposition. Or maybe it was the contact. Your sweaty palm pressed against his? "I .. wouldn't have expected this." He glanced at your hand, placing the quivering fingers of his left hand over the connection. "Do you really like me that much?" He asked more clearly, moving his eyes back to you. What nervous blotches of red across his face. You took in a deep breath, acknowledging that he could take notice of this. "It's true. I .. did mean what I sai-Wrote." You squeezed his hand, catching a hum from him. (was he touch-starved or something? nervous?)
"Y/N - I .. I think it's sweet. It makes me happy to know I can make someone feel like this."
Your mouth eased into a little smile, unable to form a sentence. "Especially from you. y/n, I-I'd.." He let out a breath. "I'd like to see where this goes." He carefully moved you closer to him by the wrists. "I confide in you more than anyone else. I trust you. That's all I need right now. To have you by my side like this? Its .. " He glanced down with a small laugh. It sounded more nervous than anything. "I wouldn't have expected it." He said, meeting your face again.
"Mhmnm." You hummed, biting down on your lip. Tears stung in your eyes. (don't cry don't cry don't cry!) "Oh! Please don't cry.." Shuichi let go of your hands, breaking the contact. "Shuichi-" You sniffled, taking the moment to pull him against your body. Close enough to press your arms against his back.  He was quiet at best, hesitant to return the embrace. "Y/N .. I .. When we get out of here .. I'll make sure to keep you this happy." He spoke calmly, running his hand down your head. As happy as I am to be around you .. You inspire me." Shuichi continued, holding you there comfortably - leaving you to hear his heartbeat. "So, Thank you, y/n."
His words were .. hopeful to hear. It was quiet. Your foggy mind felt quiet, taking in this moment. It was the most comfort you had felt this entire time. Hopefully, you could hold onto that.
__
You ran your hands down his back, slowly pulling away from him. You only moved a few inches away. Enough to see his flustered expression again. "Oh, Y/N." Shuichi lifted his thumbs to your face, rubbing the wet skin. "Let's stay as positive as we can. Okay? I know .. I feel better having you here."
You nodded, returning a warm smile. You held his hands there - enough to press his palms to your face. Enough for his fingers to press against your warm cheekbones. A quiet sigh from you, and you closed your eyes. (leaning against his hands.) It was easy to feel better around someone you loved. When flickering your eyes open, you'd stare back at Shuichi. Such a sincere expression from him. He was so kind to you. That meant something. When seeing how stray hairs would fall past his eyes, now .. you had someone to hold onto.
"Shuichi," You parted your lips to speak, but his name came out quietly. "Hmn?" He brushed his thumbs against your cheeks. (maybe wondering what you'd say next?) What warm skin pressed against his.
"This is how I want to remember you. Just like this." You said, pressing your fingers against his hands. "Here, with me." You sniffled, unable to hide your smile. "Without worrying about anything. That's what I want to remember." Your voice broke at the last vowel, catching a view of the empathy in his reaction.
"I'll be sure of that," He nodded, steady to keep eye contact. "I'll do what I can to leave here with you. I promise." He assured you, voice soft and full of determination. Bittersweet. That's all you needed. For the past days following, you'd write about the losses. At least you had someone to keep by your side.

💚Rantaro amami headcannons 💚
Rantaro had a feeling he was more fond of y/n than most other students so he spent time pondering on how he would handle the situation until something popped in his head
You were chatting with miu until Rantaro grabbed your hand silently taking you to his dorm “ y/n I’ve been thinking things over for awhile why i was so distracted and I realized I kinda crushed on you so I thought I’d do something sweet “
You blushed from the situation as he sat you down “ i use to do nail art for my sisters and you seemed really stressed so I thought a spa sort of thing would be a nice gesture “ he finished doing the cute design on your nails and quietly grabbed a brush and ran it through your hair humming softly
As the night finished he walked you to your dorm as he blushed slightly “ hope your able to have a good night i don’t usually show this side of me.. “ he placed a small kiss on your cheek letting you go into your dorm

“So let me get this straight,” Maki said with a sigh. “You went up to your crush to ask him to hang out, saw he was with Kiibo, got nervous when he smiled at you, and ran away?” “Yes.” “Shuuichi, you’re a dumbass.”
~ megastarstrike, “Month of Hell”
It’s always entertaining to read AUs about the V3 cast’s shenanigans at Hope’s Peak. This fic features fun interactions full of comical misunderstanding as Shuichi and Kokichi try to work up the courage to ask each other out. Megastarstrike balances facepalm-worthy moments of “How did you miss that?!”, great characterization, and witty dialogue to create a story that’s as adorable as it is hilarious. Newcomers to the fandom might not recognize this author, as they’re one of the older contributors to the AO3 tag and haven’t been active in a while, but they’ve got plenty of other Danganronpa fics to enjoy, so be sure to stop by their library and tell them you appreciate their work today.

So, I've complained extensively about 3-1's terrible Motive. It's time to talk about what works with this setup - and, in a sense, why such an obviously bad Motive would be written in the first place.
While the Motive itself is terrible, it exists not to create an interesting reason for the characters to kill each other, but rather for a different purpose entirely.
In Danganronpa 1, the characters' relationships with one another was what drove the plot. In DR2, it was driven by the Remnants' missing history and redemptive journey, with sacrifice being a core theme. For V3, a major thread that runs through each individual case is "cutting the knot".
Tsumugi is a talentless hack of a writer, and her Killing Game is an incompetently managed mess - often to a comical degree. In turn, the victims of her Game are able to be the single most uncooperative bunch of would-be Blackeneds ever to grace the Mutual Killing Game stage. The murders that take place throughout V3 happen in spite of Tsumugi and Monokuma's machinations, rather than because of them.
She can't keep her players on the rails. This blows up in her face multiple times over the course of the Game - even to the point of subjecting her to multiple full-scale violent revolts. Someone arms her secret base with an assassination trap in the first case and that's just the start of the insurrections she's going to face. She's. Just. Not very good at Masterminding. As a DM, it's hard to be Junko Enoshima.
In the first case of DR1, Junko expected that her players wouldn't be persuaded to kill even with the interesting Motive she offered. She had a whole tutorial murder set up with a co-conspirator, meant to get the game started and grease everyone's wheels into the necessary paranoia needed for them to start killing each other. Then she was surprised when this became unnecessary; the Hope of the Future were way more willing to go along with her despair than even Junko anticipated.
Here in this first case, Tsumugi finds herself in the opposite boat. The best she can come up with for a Motive is, "Uh, do it OR I'LL FUCKIN' SHOOT YA!" But rather than terrify these randos into submission, her trash Motive has the opposite effect: They come together in solidarity. Rather than hop onboard and start killing each other, her LARPers gather up weapons to fight for their lives against the horde of Monokumas.
That is the worst possible outcome for the Killing Game. When you shove a gun in someone's face and order them to kill, they aren't going to think, "Who can I kill and how do I go about it?" They're going to think, "What do I need to do to get this fucking gun out of my face?" You are now their problem to solve.
She's supposed to turn them against each other but has instead given them a mutual enemy to unify against. She went for a physical threat instead of a psychological one and utterly shot herself in the foot. It's hard to be Junko Enoshima.
It is only by the sheer good fortune of Kaede's attempt to kill Tsumugi and Rantaro miraculously picking just the right moment to investigate Tsumugi's base, that this didn't wind up being the most anticlimactic season in the history of the show. And when that still didn't work, Tsumugi had to put her hand on the scale, fabricating a fake murder through authorial fiat. A fact that will ultimately be the undoing of her sloppily-managed mess of a season.
