Women who sparkle like Mercury
THE LADS may have been the stars of the show at the Freddie Mercury Wembley tribute. But it was the girls who glittered at the lavish party at Browns nightclub later. Flake advert girl Debbie Leng, long-standing girlfriend of Queen's Roger Taylor, topped the fashion stakes in clinging catsuit and elaborate necklace. And Paula Yates showed her husband Bob Geldof it's possible to be colourful without wearing the sofa covers. Model Stacy Smith, wife of Paul Young, was in sparkling form, and superstar Liza Minnelli found that Queen guitarist Brian May — accompanied by former EastEnders actress Anita Dobson — is one of her greatest fans.

First Lady of AIDS
Taylor takes on a new role
LIZ TAYLOR touched down at the airport looking slim and sensational at 60. The caption writers reached for the "age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety” quote from her most famous role — Cleopatra.
What is it that's brought the smile back to the Queen of the Nile? Putting it straight: AIDS. Her flagging reputation has been given the kiss of life by the virus.
There she was on Monday night in front of an audience of 72,000 for the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium, giving the hammiest performance of a hammy career.
She all but went into a Bohemian Rhapsody about condoms and generally urged the youth of today to encase itself in rubber and not share needles.
"Protect yourselves," she pleaded with tremulous voice and quivering lip. "The world needs you to live.
Arguable, if the evidence of several hours of Def Leppard and all the other sound-alikes these 72,000 paid to hear were anything to go by.
“You are the best and brightest, the shining light that will illuminate a better world tomorrow…" Good grief, let's hope she didn't pay a scriptwriter for that.
Close at hand was Larry Fortensky, her seventh husband but her first from the construction industry, who now escorts her round the AIDS charity circuit on both sides of the Atlantic.
And what a party it has been for Liz ‘n’ Larry so far. Thank goodness she picked an exceptionally enlightened brickie, not one likely to share an anti-gay joke over the hod with his mates.
AIDS has given Liz a whole new starring role. After all, it has been a long time since Cleopatra.
Who said not long enough? Unlike the dewy eye, the parts dried up long ago.
Liz was forced to star in her own drama of drink, men and self-destruction. All very well, but costly in terms of drying-out fees.
And being pushed about various airports, bloated and wedged into a wheelchair, must have been losing its novelty as a photo-opportunity.
She had tried the last refuge of a Hollywood legend — bringing out your own scent and touting it round the promotional counters — when she was saved by the arrival of the incurable disease of the late 20th Century.
AND not just any old disease, but a high-profile one with a heavy presence on America's West Coast, handy for her Bel Air home. Thousands of victims in Africa but, more importantly from the PR point of view, a few glamorous names nearer to hand.
But in the case of Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS last November, is glamour a big enough word? Should we be talking greatness here?
One of his few profundities not set to music was: "New York is Sin City. I just slut myself. My sex drive is enormous. I've got a big bed and it can sleep six."
Another shining light, eh?
Still, it has all been great PR for Liz, whose Tinseltown tiara was beginning to tarnish.
Now she's the First Lady of AIDS and she may soon be more famous for that than for getting married. And how well she looks on it.
Every cloud, as they say, has a silver lining for someone.

Freddie's £10m rhapsody of hope for AIDS victims

ROCK LEGEND Freddie Mercury left a legacy of hope to thousands of fellow AIDS victims, it was revealed at the star-studded Wembley tribute to the Queen lead singer last night.
Guitarist Roger Taylor said a clinic for HIV and AIDS sufferers called the Freddie Mercury Hospital will be built in Britain from the concert proceeds. Mercury died aged 45 last November after losing a long battle against AIDS. A large part of his fortune was donated to AIDS charities. It is expected that the total amount raised from last night's rock spectacular will top £10 million.
"This is something we feel strongly about and we are sure Freddie would approve," Taylor said.
"It's a means of using the tragedy to some good effect in bringing a greater awareness of the fact that AIDS affects all of us."
Just before the show volunteers handed out red ribbons to fans, symbols of AIDS Awareness.
Hollywood stars like Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli joined forces with the cream of pop and rock talent including David Bowie, Elton John, George Michael and metal band Guns 'n' Roses.
Supermodel Cindy Crawford, the 26-year-wife of actor Richard Gere, spoke of the courage of close friends who died from AIDS.

The more discussion there is about AIDS the more people can learn and everyone needs to help," she said.
The 72,000 fans at Wembley paid £25 or more a head.
It was also broadcast live and attracted a larger global audience than Live Aid, going out to a billion people.
Some fans fell prey to fools charging up to £200 for tickets.
Even so, hundreds of fans were prepared to fork out.
"I supported Freddie throughout his life and I will support him in death," said Steve Parkin, 22, who travelled from Liverpool with no ticket.
"He was the greatest and I couldn't miss a concert like this."
Jayne Browning from Sheffield said, "I came with £100 and I would be willing to spend all of that."
Protests
Guns 'n' Roses were one of the surprise bands in the concert.
Four years ago lead singer Axl Rose wrote a song with the lyrics "Immigrants and faggots spread disease".
Shows have been dogged by protests from gay rights activists ever since.
But Guns 'n' Roses drummer Matt Sorum said the band would be using the concert to explain their behaviour towards gays.
"Axl had a few things to say about accusations about being homophobic," Sorum said.
"He's still getting flak from it."
Just before the show Axl seemed to be suffering stage fright.
He failed to turn up for rehearsals and missed a sound check, preferring to stay in his Mayfair hotel suite.
Liz Taylor presented George Michael with a broach with red rhinestones set in silver in the shape of the AIDS symbol.
Then in a speech halfway through the concert, she urged the crowd to practice safe sex and use condoms.
"You are the future of our world, you are the best and brightest," she said.

"Protest yourselves. Every time you have sex, use a condom. Every single time.
"Straight sex, gay sex, bisexual sex - use a condom whoever you are.
"And if you use drugs, don't share the needle.
"Each day around the world 5,000 people are infected with HIV - the virus that causes AIDS.
"Just last week it was reported in the US that there are 9,000 actual cases of AIDS among teenagers and among adults, with thousands more who probbably don't even know they are infected.
"There are 72,000 people in this stadium tonight. Look at yourselves, look at how many you are.
"In two short weeks, there will be as many new infections as there are people here tonight. Please don't let it happen to you."
She added, "We are here to celebrate the life of Freddie Mercury, the extraordinary rock star who rushed across our cultural landscape like a comet shooting across the sky.
"We are also here to tell the whole world that he, like others we have lost to AIDS, died before his time.
"The bright light of his talent still exhilarates us, even now that his life has been so cruelly extinguished.
"It needn't have happened. It shouldn't have happened. Please, let's not let it happen again.
"Protect yourself, love yourself, respect yourself, because I will keep telling you until you do.
"I won't give in and I won't give up, because the world needs you to live."
At the show the stars poured out personal tributes to their dead friend.
Roger Taylor said: "This concert is primarily a celebration of and a tribute to our dear friend and colleague Freddie Mercury."
His Queen co-star Brian May added: "It seems inconceivable that we now have to do without Freddie.
Living
"This proud, vibrant, irreverent and passionately creative man surely cannot have been extinguished in the prime of his life.
"Freddie was denied the privilege of growing old but in 45 years he packed in enough living for a dozen lifetimes.
"A child of strict upbringing he was, when I met him some 25 years ago, an uncertain youth stepping into an unfamiliar world outside.
"But his head was full of great dreams and the certainty that they could be achieved.
"At the age of 20 he already lived the dream, and behaved with a gentle grandeur that demanded respect.
"He looked and acted like a million dollars, though he scarcely had the bus fare home.
"That never changed. Later, when his millions were safely in the bank, someone else always carried his purse.
"Perhaps in changing his name prior to our first record, he decided to leave the fragile Frederick Bulsara at home under parental care and become the god Freddie Mercury."
Queen guitarist John Deacon said: "It's hard to imagine being here without Freddie. We will all miss him."
Elton John said: "Until a cure is found I won't rest. I've lost so many friends.
"I'm in my mid 40s and this is the time in life that instead of just planning everything around a career, you can try to do something else."
George Michael said: "Freddie Mercury was a great inspiration to me and I felt a genuine loss when he died.
"So this concert will be a strange mixture of honour and sadness.
"Hopefully it will also serve as one more opportunity to fight against AIDS."

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- The former American flagship broadcaster for kids of Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), which is now Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. (WBDI) launches the first 24hr. single-genre cable channel last October 1, 1992 on Thursday known as Cartoon Network, who was focused a targeted audience for kids, teens and mostly few of the adults.
At first, Cartoon Network’s programming consisted solely of various reruns of old and new cartoons like pre-1948 Looney Toons, the 1933 Popeye series and here today is the original and the rebooted version of The Powerpuff Girls, as well for the Steven Universe show, original programming like Craig of the Creek, etc. The rest of it is history for the next generation of kids to grow up with.
In an editorial article from Gizmodo, the kids' channel of Cartoon Network has a lot of damage, controversies and LGBT issues over the years in some shows than can be attacked for mass negative viewers in ruining the childhood. Corporate transitions are suffering from losing viewers as adults, but the kids and teens like us remained untouched.
Here in Asia and the Philippines around 2 years later in October 6th, 1994 (Asia Pacific) on Thursday, and followed by our country's cable TV station as independent the same name last Tuesday (June 6th, 1995) where it was broadcasted LIVE from Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok and in Metro Manila as a regional cable channel.
Some shows expressed from the United States of America (U.S.A.) at a later date and was censored internationally with disrespected reasons in every country's government as noted from The Roundtable (a YouTuber owned by the group of Kevin Williams, Shane Verkest and Tom Tobin, the big nicknames of AwestruckVox, RetroNemo & the same name of Tom).
Imported anime series was introduced in mid-March 1997 where the Toonami block was born until mid-September 2008. Four years later in 2012 on April Fools Day, [adult swim] secured its broadcast rights for a late-night dose of the said anime and most of the original Toonami and Cartoon Network programming like IGPX (Immortal Grand Prix), Housing Complex C and Samurai Jack.
Cartoon Network is originated from Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. per targeted demographic of all-ages and preteen daytime programming. The cable channel for kids will air daily from 6am to 8pm (Eastern local time). While the [adult swim] network airs around 8pm onwards to 6am (the next day) with the same channel from sign-on to sign-off. Most of its programmes on numerous occasions to be adding an hour later in the overtime schedule before 9pm. In exception to start and end its broadcast day, all the regional channels with the same name continues be broadcasted non-stop for 24hrs. daily.
Fans have tuned in as a childhood to remember before the school starts and after the college ends from yours truly for all.

In early April, the LGBTQ publication Queerty ran a piece called “Why does bisexuality still make us so uncomfortable?” in which the author, Jeremy Helligar, describes the moment that a date told him he was bisexual.
“I told him it didn’t matter to me, but I lied,” Helligar writes, explaining that the stereotype of bisexuals having “more options” made him nervous.
Although Helligar says he’s not the type to “side-eye” bisexual people and that he accepts them “in theory,” he is, in reality, reproducing biphobic rhetoric that many bisexuals hear on a nearly daily basis.
Biphobia (the fear and dislike of bisexual people and others who have the potential to be attracted to more than one gender) has been studied for decades. Used by bisexual activists since the 1970s, the term was brought into prominence in 1992 by the researcher Kathleen Bennett, who talked about the “denigration of bisexuality as a valid life choice.” In 2002, Patrick Mulick and Lester Wright developed the “Biphobia Scale,” a set of thirty questions which they used to measure negativity towards bisexual people. Mulick and Wright were the first researchers to confirm that bisexual people experienced “double discrimination”: that is, negative behavior based on their sexual orientation from gay and lesbian people as well as from straight people.
Almost two-thirds of bisexual respondents to one 2015 survey reported hearing biphobic jokes at work. In another survey the same year, nearly half of bisexual respondents reported facing biphobia from their doctors. Biphobia impacts bisexuals’ health and earning power. And biphobia can have more dangerous effects on bisexuals’ lives: Among multiple factors analyzed by Marywood University professor of psychology Susan Turell and her colleagues, “bi-negativity” was the greatest predictor of whether a person was likely to be abusive to their bisexual intimate partner.
In early April, the Daily Beast shared a powerful profile of Dr. Brian Dodge, a researcher on bisexuality and biphobia at Indiana University. Dr. Dodge’s work with the Bisexualities: Indiana Attitudes Scale (BIAS) has revealed the depth and breadth of biphobia expressed by gay, lesbian, and straight people across the United States. In 2016, Dr. Dodge and his team found that while modern attitudes towards gay and lesbian people have undergone a marked positive shift, overall attitudes of gay, lesbian, and straight people toward bisexual people have merely shifted from “very negative to neutral” over the past decade. Attitudes towards bisexual men remained lower than towards bisexual women.
Also in 2016, Dr. Tangela Roberts and others asked more than 700 bisexual people about their experiences of discrimination in various contexts. They found that while bisexual participants reported higher quantities of discrimination from heterosexual people compared to gay and lesbian people, the relative impact of the discrimination was the same from both groups, negatively affecting how the bisexual respondents viewed their own internal bisexual identities.
While these studies shed important light on the extent of biphobia faced by bisexual people, they don’t really examine why biphobia is so prevalent among lesbian, gay, and straight people. In fact, it is very difficult to research causality—there are often many competing and compounding factors that lead to discrimination, and it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly which factors are most indicative.
In March, the Journal of Sex Research published a study that tested participants’ assumptions about hypothetical straight, lesbian, and bisexual women and found that bisexual women were viewed as more confused, promiscuous, and neurotic than straight and lesbian women. Alon Zivony, the author of the study, theorized that “bisexual stereotypes seem to be deduced based on the idea that men and women are opposites: if one holds two opposing attractions, then it stand to reason that this person will be confused.”
Late last year, Nicole Johnson and MaryBeth Grove published a paper looking into possible causes for the intensely high rates of sexual violence that bisexual women face. (Nearly half of all bisexual women have experienced rape and three-quarters of bisexual women have experienced sexual violence, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.) Johnson and Grove hypothesize that hypersexualization of bisexual women, plus biphobic harassment and bisexual women’s greater likelihood of substance use, may compound to increase the probability of sexual assault.
The authors do not, however, address the complex correlation between sexual violence and substance use and abuse: it is clear that substance use does not cause sexual violence, and in fact substance use and abuse may be indicative of trauma from sexual violence and other traumas associated with biphobia.
Recent research on the attitudes of college students towards bisexual and transgender people found that students who were afraid of ambiguity—who preferred to see things in black and white—were also more likely to express biphobia and transphobia. And queer theory supports this finding: Bisexuality doesn’t immediately answer the question of “who will this person be attracted to,” which may frustrate people used to making assumptions based on sexual orientation.
“People fear what they can’t wrap their heads around and the idea of being capable of being attracted to more than one type of person rejects everything we’ve been taught about how love, sex, attraction, and the human brain work,” Denarii Grace, a singer-songwriter, poet, and activist told me in an interview.
The author of the original Queerty article pinned his own biphobia to his jealousy over his date’s past partners: “I don’t see [bisexuality] as a layover on the way to straight (for women) or gay (for men), as I’ve heard some people describe it. The B in LGBTQ is as legitimate as any of the letters surrounding it. But if I’m being completely honest, a certain green-eyed monster was controlling my innermost thoughts. I hated myself even more for being swayed by the stereotype that bisexual people are sluttier than the rest of us because they have more options.”
In six sentences, the author hit several major stereotypes of bisexuality, common themes in the biphobia that bisexual people hear every day. The author closes with “I don’t know if I’ll ever be as comfortable with B as I am with G, but in this brave new LGBTQ world of sexual fluidity, maybe there’s still hope for me.”
But given the impacts of biphobia on bisexual people, it’s clear that it is we bisexual people who need hope.

Liz leads tributes to Angel Freddie

ACTRESS Elizabeth Taylor last night led the eulogies to Queen star Freddie Mercury, saying: "He sang like an angel."
She told a 72,000 Wembley crowd at his tribute concert that Mercury, who died from AIDS in November, had been “an extraordinary rock star who rushed across our cultural landscape like a comet shooting across the sky".
Urging the fans to protect themselves against AIDS she told them: "You are the future, the shining light that will illuminate a better world tomorrow."
Miss Taylor, president of the American Foundation for AIDS Research, left in tears after being heckled by part of the crowd.
But after recovering backstage she said she hoped the event would be “a great turning in the tide” in the awareness of the dangers of AIDS.
Stars including David Bowie, Elton John, George Michael and Liza Minnelli joined the remaining Queen members at the show, which was hoped to raise £10 million to fight the disease.

FREDDIE would have loved it.
The aristocracy of rock, pop and Hollywood tumed out to pay him tribute in front of the world.
And last night’s Wembley concert became a rhapsody of hope for thousands of AIDS victims.
The drummer in Freddie's group Queen, Roger Taylor, revealed that a clinic for HIV and AIDS sufferers called the Freddie Mercury Hospital will be built in Britain from the concert proceeds.
Freddie died aged 45 last November after losing a long battle against AIDS.
A large part of his fortune was donated to AIDS charities.
And it is expected that the total amount raised from last night's rock spectacular will top £10 milion.
Tragedy
“This is something we feel strongly about and we are sure Freddie would approve,” Taylor said.
“It’s a means of using the tragedy to some good effect in bringing a greater awareness of the fact that AIDS affects all of us.”
Taylor told fans and stars: "Cry as much as you like.”
They did. Thousands in the audience broke down.
"You can't be here and not cry — it's impossible,” said Mary Clothier, 23, from Manchester.
“Just to think that Freddie is gone and all this is for him.
“Everybody here loved him and loves him now. I feel so emotional I can barely see the stage for tears.”
Queen guitarist Brian May's girlfriend Anita Dobson also wiped tears from her eyes as rock band Extreme did a medley of Queen’s Greatest hits supported by May on guitar.
Mercury's lover of seven years, Mary Austin, broke down within minutes of arriving and leant on her boyfriend Tiers Cameron for support. But actress Liz Taylor was booed as she gave a speech about AIDS.
A vicious fight broke out a fans set on the hecklers. The incident shocked many in the crowd.
“This concert was being beamed to the States and they will be appalled at the way Liz was booed,” said American tourist Lisa Greer. “To us, it's like heckling Princess Diana.” Liz carried on but left the stage trembling. Out of sight she was comforted in the wings.
Apart from that it was a glittering night of celebration as the cream of rock and pop talent joined forces to pay tribute to Freddie.
Bowed
Stars included David Bowie, who said the Lord's Prayer at the end of his set.
Bowie, dressed in a green suit, sat on the edge of the stage with his head bowed as he spoke the words. “This tribute is to remember my friend — your friend — who has died of AIDS," he said.
The 72.000 fans Wembley paid £25 or more a head.
It was also broadcast live and attracted a larger global audience than Live Aid, going out to a billion people.
Some fans fell prey to touts charging up to £250 for tickets.
Even so, hundreds were prepared to fork out.
“I supported Freddie throughout his life and I will support him in death,” said Steve Parkin, 22, who travelled from Liverpool with no ticket.
"Не was the greatest and I couldn't miss a concert like this,” Jayne Browning from Sheffield added, "I came with £100 and I would be willing to spend all of that.”
Just before the show volunteers handed out red ribbons to fans, symbol of AIDS Awareness.
Liz Taylor presented singer George Michael with a brooch with red rhinestones set in silver in the shape of the AIDS symbol.

And Elton John gave Liz, 60, a £50,000 diamond ring in recognition for her work fighting AIDS.
Elton presented Liz with the jewel as they walked together in the grounds of his Windsor mansion before the show.
“Thank you so much, she said. “I don't know what to say, but thank you again.” In her speech half way through the concert, Liz urged the crowd to practise safe sex and use condoms.
“You are the future of our world, you are the best and brightest," she said.
“You are the shining light that will illuminate a better world tomorrow.
“Protect yourselves. Every time you have sex use a condom. Every single time. And if you use drugs, don't share the needle.
“Just last week it was reported in the U.S. that there are 9,000 actual cases of AIDS among teenagers and young adults, with thousands more who probably don't even know they are infected.
“There are 72,000 people in this stadium tonight. Look at yourselves, look at how many you are.
"In two short weeks there will be as many new infections as there are people here tonight. Please, don’t let it happen to you."
She added: "We are here to celebrate the life of Freddie Mercury, an extraordinary rock star who rushed across our cultural landscape like a comet.
“We are also here to tell the whole world that he, like others we have lost to AIDS, died before his time.
"The bright light of his talent still exhilarates us, even now that his life has been cruelly extinguished.
“It needn't have happened. It shouldn't have happened. Please, let's not let it happen again.
"Protect yourself, love yourself, respect yourself, because I will keep telling you until you do.
“I won't give in and I won't give up, because the world needs you to live."
Heavy metal band Guns'n’Roses were one of the surprise bands in the concert. Four years ago lead singer Axl Rose wrote a song saying: “Immigrants and faggots spread disease."
Their shows have been dogged by protests from gay activists ever since.
Just before the show Axl seemed to be suffering stage fright.
He falled to turn up for rehearsals and missed a sound check, preferring to stay in his Mayfair hotel suite.
But he turned up and yelled his way through two numbers.
Singer Annie Lennox dressed Freddie Mercury-style in a rubber ball dress.
Lisa Stansfield came on like a housewife in curlers and pushed a Hoover as she sang I Want to Break Free, in memory of the video in which Freddie dressed as a housewife.
On stage, the stars poured out tributes to their friend.
George Michael said: "This concert is a strange mixture of honour and sadness.
“Hopefully it will also serve as one more opportunity to fight against AIDS.”

Moving tribute has stars and fans in tears
FREDDIE MERCURY would have […] […] […] that the highlight of last night’s tribute concert was his most famous song — Bohemian Rhapsody.
The audience to leapt to their feet and waved lighters in time to the famous refrain, sang by Elton John and Axl Rose.
The unlikely duo hit the high notes in a totally different way from Freddie, but the rasping notes were all the more touching.
Lisa Stansfield and George Michael in a duet of one of Queen’s most recent hits — These Are The Days Of Our Lives — had fans in tears as they swayed in time with the melody.
Freddie always loved a party. The bigger the better, and the more extravagant and self-indulgent, the more he enjoyed it.
Last night the music world gathered to give him a celebration he would have thoroughly approved of.
From the moment his famous profile appeared on huge video screens at either side of the stage, a tremor grew around the stadium. Thousands of hands and feet clapped and stamped in time to a short burst of Bohemian Rhapsody as the show opened.
Energetic
Among the most emotional moments were video excerpts of the flamboyant Mercury at his best in outrageous costumes and dance routines.
Who star Roger Daltrey stepped brilliantly into Freddie's shoes as he performed I Want It All with surviving Queen members in an energetic set.
Brian May gave a performance which so eerily echoed Freddie’s clear vocal style that he broke down in an unashamed display of grief on stage.
He continued singing as his voice waivered.
The rest of the night belonged to the superstars of the music world who, one by one, stood where Freddie used to, in front of the remaining Queen musicians to perform cover versions of the band's most famous hits.
Among the highlights was Under Pressure featuring a memorable duet between Annie Lennox and David Bowie.
Liza Minnelli brought Hollywood glitz to the concert as she led the rest of the stars for the finale […] Queen's anthem, We The Champions.
The show came to a close with Freddie taking his own bow — a […] him walking the […] dressed in his regal […].

Freddie’s male friends were so jealous of me

• QUEEN singer Freddie Mercury turned to Mary Austin for support when he was dying from AIDS. He rewarded her dedication by leaving her the bulk of his fortune and a £4 million mansion in his will.
• But her inheritance has included the jealousy of many of his friends. Here Mary tells us how she deals with the bad feeling and what she feels about their 16-year friendship.
Mary Austin tells of bitterness over fortune he left her
MARY AUSTIN hasn’t only had to cope with the tragic death of Freddie Mercury, “the love of her life", but the jealousies of some of the rock star’s male friends.
The fact that she has inherited a large portion of his multi-million pound estate and his luxury London home, has left many people feeling angry.
Some of them have fallen out with her over it, particularly Freddie's last lover Jimmy Hutton, a 44-year-old Irish hairdresser, who used to share his house and look after the garden. The 45-year-old
Queen leader did buy him a house in Ireland and Ieave him a substantial amount of money, but Jimmy still feels hard done by.
"It's sad that it has spoilt my friendship with a few of his pals,” say Mary. “We went through a lot together.
"There's no way we can think of the last year of Freddie's life without remembering each other. But all of a sudden the friendships have fragmented.
“It was always going to be awkward. And it would have been impossible for Jimmy to stay.
“I think it is a terrible shame. Unless someone hurt Freddie, I wouldn’t feel badly towards anyone. Jimmy's relationship with Freddie was not one I could totally appreciate, so it left me at an advantage.
“If Freddie was having another heterosexual relationship then I would feel jealous. But I could never feel like that over something I didn't understand.”
Because of her long-standing and close relationship with Freddie — they had a six-year love affair — some of his male friends felt intimidated by her.
“I was terribly feared and that's not what I wanted to be,” she says. “I only wanted to encourage Freddie to be happy.
“I realised that I couldn't have him physically anymore, but I could go on loving him mentally. I was strong enough to accept that he was bisexual or gay, it didn't stop me loving him. I never saw his boyfriends as a threat.”
APART from the six-figure donation Freddie privately made to AIDS research while he was alive, royalties in excess of £1 million from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody Best Days Of Our Lives recording have gone to AIDS charities.
Last night's star-packed Wembley Stadium Freddie tribute concert, which Mary attended, raised even more funds.
One clear example of Freddie's generosity came the Christmas before he died. On being told by a male murse tending him at his home that there was a group of AIDS sufferers in London who couldn’t afford even a Christmas lunch, he anonymously sent them a full Christmas meal along with a gift for each of them.
While Mary, pregnant with her second son Jamie, cared for Freddie, her 35-year-old boyfriend of three years, Piers Cameron, a special effects artist and designer, remained at their flat to look after their two-year-old son Richard.
Her relationship with Freddie would have been difficult for most men to come to terms with, but Piers knew it would have been pointiess to ask her to stop seeing him.
Having control of his life was very important to Freddie. He flatly refused to be pressurised into announcing he had AIDS until a few days before his death and he never told his parents the truth behind his terrible illness — but they eventually guessed.
“I think it took a long time for him to come to terms with it,” says Mary. “He announced it when he felt he should.”
When it came to finding a loving relationship, Freddie often talked of feeling lonely and betrayed — even though he had many losers.
“He liked a permanent relationship and I think all the time he was looking for someone to love,” says Mary. But I don't feel he ever really found it."
SHE adds: “He was let down a lot by boyfriends. He'd become star and people went for the trappings rather than looking at the heart. And Freddie had an enormous heart.”
Mary intends to continue as company secretary to Freddie's companies, Goose Productions and Mercury Songs, operating from the home she has inherited. But how does she feel about going from a modest salary to suddenly having lots of money?
“It’s awesome. But I get over it by thinking that it still belongs to Freddie and I’m just using it.”

Following our recent posts marking the 60th anniversary of the wedding of Julie Andrews and Tony Walton, here we shine a brief spotlight on how the newlyweds were covered by the media in the early years of their marriage. Their May 1959 wedding was a definite high-water mark of media exposure for Julie and Tony but public interest didn’t end once they’d walked down the aisle. Newspapers and magazines continued to feature regular stories and photos about the ‘happy couple’, detailing what they were up to and how they were adapting to life as husband-and-wife.
Much of the coverage presented the newlyweds as a quintessentially modern couple who were combining the twin demands of dual careers with companionate marriage. A multi-page profile in the January 1960 issue of British women’s magazine, Housewife serves a good case-in-point. Essentially a ‘celebrities at home’ pictorial, the article marshals the couple’s “delightful new home––a large flat overlooking Eaton Square––to which they went when they were married eight months ago” as a symbolic expression of the blended amalgamations of marital domesticity (Antony: 38).
The “Andrews-Walton flat is a combination of their two careers,” the article chirps, “Julie’s piano has a prominent place and one room is made into Tony’s studio” (Antony: 40). Elsewhere it describes a cosy everyday scenario of domestic give-and-take as “Julie spends hours practising her singing” with Tony acting as one of her “sternest musical critics,” while Julie in turn “gets a thrill out of Tony’s work for the theatre [and] enjoys posing for his costume designs” (38-39). The image painted here is a transactional blend of conventional married home-life with newer forms of egalitarian coupledom: “two young people––both so young and in love––embarking on a duet” in “their lovely new home...a good basis for security in their marriage” (40-41).
Other profiles were considerably less blithesome. A recurrent refrain in a lot of the media coverage of Julie and Tony’s marriage was the perceived challenges faced by a couple in which, as one early newspaper report put it, “the wife’s name has embarrassingly eclipsed the husband’s” (Wilson: 10). In an era still tethered to orthodox notions of male breadwinners and female homemakers, a union in which the wife assumed greater professional and financial prowess than the husband was sufficiently novel to evoke both curiosity and, at times, unease.
In the newspaper profile just mentioned, Cecil Wilson (1959) strikes a note of thinly-veiled anxiety when discussing what he apprehends as a gendered dilemma in the couple’s marriage. Titled “How Not to Be Known as Mr Julie Andrews”, the article asserts a very traditional view of marriage in terms of masculine dominance and feminine support. “No man could have done more in less time” than Tony Walton, it proclaims, “to rise above the reflected glory of being ‘Julie Andrews’s husband’ or, worse still, the ignominious label of ‘Mr. Julie Andrews’” (10). “Since his childhood sweetheart from Walton-on-Thames consolidated her...stardom in My Fair Lady, he has firmly established the name of Tony Walton by designing four West End shows...[and n]ow, to give Julie Andrews further pride in being known as Tony Walton’s wife, he has gone into management” as a theatre producer (ibid.).*
It is a testament to Julie and Tony’s fortitude and well-grounded emotional security that, for the most part, they deflected such concerns as immaterial. Responding to a reporter’s question about how her status as “one of the country’s wealthiest young actresses” impacted her new married lifestyle, Julie demurred: “I don’t know how much I’m worth...We haven’t a car, although I hold a licence. But Tony holds the important licence, the marriage one” (Hickey: 3). Later, on the eve of her departure for New York to start rehearsals for Camelot, Julie mused further on the ambivalent demands of career and marriage: “Of course it’s nice to get back to work. I love the stage. But what I really like and what I want to do is to settle down and be plain Mrs. Walton” (Tanfield: 12).
For his part, Tony Walton struck a particularly mature and, for the time, progressive attitude to the unorthodox dynamics of his and Julie’s marriage. When asked in a 1959 interview if he experienced “professional jealousy” of Julie, he replied with categorical pragmatism: “Not a bit. After all, Julie has one career and I have another. But I still wouldn’t rank my fame with hers” (Wilson: 10). It was a consistently balanced approach he maintained––at least publicly––right throughout the marriage, even after Julie had graduated to the exponentially increased fame and fortune of film stardom. “[T]he embarrassments people see for me are easily coped with because they’re so absurd,” he remarked in a 1966 article, “I’d be stupid if I let them affect me” (Leslie: 8). If there is any problem, he ventured in an admirably democratic take on modern marriage, it is
“who at any one time is going to be the support. I don’t mean financial but emotional––which is the basis on which the whole marriage is built. When Julie and I were both in the theatre, and she was rehearsing at something and I was working at something else, the pressure times would swing back and forth between us. And at times I’d find myself taking on an almost feminine role, trying to calm, soothe, protect or whatever. And then as soon as I was deeply involved and under pressure then the roles would be reversed. I think if I were an over-dominant kind of male I’d find this situation harder to cope with. But neither of us is over-poweringly masculine or over-poweringly feminine” (ibid.)
That the marriage of Julie Andrews and Tony Walton ultimately didn’t last is a matter of historical record. Following extended periods of separation, the two officially filed for divorce in November 1967, eight and a half years after they were wed (”Julie Andrews Suing”: I-23). But the pair have, by all accounts, maintained a strong and enduring friendship, even after both of them found and subsequently married new partners (Robins: D-6). In fact, Julie is fond of recounting how Tony and his second wife, Gen LeRoy-Walton, affectionately refer to her as “our ex” (Andrews: 323). “They’re best friends and they gang up against me,” explains Tony Walton of the relationship between his former and current partners (McDonnell: 3D). As Julie observed in a 2001 interview: “[T]he divorce was extremely sobering but I've known [Tony] since I was 13 and he was 12, and you cannot undo that knowledge” (Birch: 16).

* This kind of angst-ridden discourse about the perceived gendered power imbalance of the Andrews-Walton marriage intensified once Julie made the move to Hollywood and the even greater success of global film stardom. “When a wife starts earning much more money than her husband,” wrote one especially egregious example, “the marriage is not long for the lasting” (Shearer: 15). Kirby Manga Masterpost
I sometimes get people confused by how many Kirby manga there are, or the differences between them. Seeing as none have been localized, and few scanlated, there’s a lot of confusion around the different ones. So I’ve compiled a list of all the Kirby manga I’m aware of (with help of the Japanese wikia page). In total, there are 55 manga (including sequels as separate ones), with 23 serialized manga and 32 anthologies. The manga are all separate canons from each other and the games, but are still based on the games, like how the anime is a separate canon from the games, but still shares a lot of characters and plot points.
Here’s the three that are generally the ones referred to as “the Kirby manga”. All others are below the cut. Warning: it’s a very long post.
Kirby of the Stars! Moretsu Pupupu Hour! (星のカービィ! も〜れつプププアワー!), by Taniguchi Asami.
This is probably the most well known Kirby manga, and the one most people refer to as “the Kirby manga”. It was originally published in CoroCoro Comic, has 13 volumes, and ran from 2006 to 2016, covering games that released in that time period, but also has a lot of random comedy stories. It tends to give the characters more dramatic and wild personalities, such as Marx’s love for blowing up planets, and Meta Knight’s narcissism. It’s scanlated by Kirby’s Manga Funshack. Kirby of the Stars: Pupupu Hero (星のカービィ プププヒーロー), and its sequel, Kirby of the Stars: Ultra Super Pupupu Hero (星のカービィ ウルトラスーパープププヒーロー), by Aoki Kei and Mikamaru.
This manga is popular for its art and the fact that a lot of its chapters focus on Magolor. It tends to have very “on model” type art in comparison to Moretsu, which has more expressive, comedic art - a good way of telling the difference between them. Pupupu Hero ran in Dengeki Nintendo: For Kids from 2009 to 2013, and was compiled into two (very limited edition) manga. Ultra Super Pupupu Hero ran in Dengeki Bazooka from 2014 to 2016 until the magazine was suddenly cancelled, and was never compiled into a volume. The creators are currently petitioning for get the series reprinted, as it’s hard to find now. It’s scanlated by The Fountain of Dreams. (Tumblr) (MangaDex)
Kirby of the Stars: The Legend of Dedede in Dream Land (星のカービィ デデデでプププなものがたり), by Hikawa Hirokazu.
This one also ran in CoroCoro Comic, from 1994 to 2006, then was revived in 2017 in CoroCoro Aniki and continues to run. It has 25 volumes, plus a "Best Of" compilation and mini-″25.5″ volume. The focus is on slapstick gags and dramatic behaviors from Kirby (usually negatively affecting Dedede). It was at one point picked up to be localized by Viz, under the title Kirby, but was dropped shortly after. That is the main reason it’s still some people’s most known Kirby manga. Only a few chapters have been scanlated, by Golden Roze. (MangaDex)
Serialized Manga:
Kirby of the Stars (星のカービィ), by Sakuma Yoshiko, was published in Shougaku Ichinensei, Ninensei, and Sannensei from 1992 to 2009. Compiled into 12 volumes, plus a "Best Of" and other special editions and picture books. Kirby's a troublemaker who will do anything for food, but doesn't mean to do bad. He also wasn't originally from Dream Land, being born from a flower in the shape of a tiny star in a faraway place. He ran out of things to eat while growing, so he set off on a journey, eventually getting to Dedede's Castle and eating all his food.
Great Commotion in Dream Land (プププランドは大さわぎ), aka Knock Out Kirby of the Stars (かっとび星のカービィ), by Abe Sayori, was published in Shougaku Ichinensei from 1992 to 1993. The one with the strange original characters, including a human girl.
Kirby of the Stars (星のカービィ), by Chibi Nyanne, was published in Shougaku Sannensei from 1993 to 1994. Kirby frequently has a :3 face, and this series also uses human characters.
Kirby of the Stars (星のカービィ), by Maeda Noemi, was published in Shougaku Ichinensei from 1994 to 1996. Kirby has a more bratty, mischievous personality.
Kirby of the Stars: Exciting Grand Adventure (星のカービィ ウキウキ大冒険), by Taijan Hokuto, was published in Monthly Shounen Gag King from 1997 to 1999, and was compiled into one volume. It has a 4-koma format, but a continuous story.
Pupupu Grand Adventure ~Kirby of the Stars~ (プププの大冒険 〜星のカービィ〜), by Daimaru Roketto, was published in Pocket Land from 1997 to 1998. Rick, Kine, and Coo see Kirby as a friend and send him advice, but Kirby has a self-centred personality, and doesn’t give them much care.
Kirby Quiz (カービィクイズ), by Takase Hiroshi, ran in Preparation for Entry: Kindergarten Learning for an unknown amount of time around 1995 to at least 1999. The "chapters" are quizzes, puzzles, and games for kindergarten children to complete, though there's sometimes little manga along with that.
Kirby of the Stars: Friends of Dreamland (星のカービィ プププランドの仲間たち), by Himeno Kagemaru, was published in Shougaku Gonensei and Rokunensei from 2002 to 2003. Kirby's kind but has strange behaviours, such as making crop circles in fields and filling a pool with detergent to wash it with a tornado. He lives in a house along with Waddle Dee, Cappy, Broom Hatter, and Scarfy.
Kirby of the Stars: Great Commotion in Dream Land! (星のカービィ プププランドは大さわぎ!), by Himeno Kagemaru, was published in Shougaku Yonensei in 2003, with two specials, one in 2004 for Amazing Mirror and one in 2005 for Canvas Curse.
Poyo Poyo Kirby (ポヨポヨカービィ), by Haribuki Shikimi, was published in Famitsu Cube & Advance from 2006 to 2009. It's a 4-koma with game information. Kirby speaks in "Poyo" like in the anime.
Kirby of the Stars: Kirby & Dedede's Pupupu Diary (星のカービィ カービィ&デデデのプププ日記), first by Michi Michiru, then by Matsuyama Noboru, was published in Famitsu DS+Wii from 2006 to 2016, and is currently being published in Terebi Gemu Magazine. There are 6 appendix collections (booklets only released in magazines), and one "Best Of" volume. Kirby and Dedede are often with each other in a non-hostile way.
Kirby of the Stars (星のカービィ), by Miyasumi, was published in Chara Parfait from 2006 to 2011. They're short, colour comics focusing on specific games.
Kirby of the Stars: Pakutto Big Laughter Show!! (星のカービィ パクッと大爆ショー!!), by Kawakami Yuuki, was published in CoroCoro Ichiban from 2012 to 2014, and compiled into two volumes. "Pakutto" is an onomatopoeia for a type of eating noise (think Pacman). It was revived just for 2015 as Kirby of the Stars: More Big Laughter Show!! (星のカービィ もっと大爆ショー!!), after the author recovered from illness.
Kirby of the Stars: Poyo Poyo Everyday (星のカービィ ぽよぽよな毎日), by Michi Michiru, is published in Pikopuri, starting in 2012, and is still being serialized. It's a 4-koma series, and despite being more modern, has characters showing up from the earliest games. It has a single volume so far.
Kirby of the Stars: Full 4-Koma Parfait♥ (星のカービィ まんぷく4コマぱふぇ♥), by Karino Tau & Poto, published in Chara Parfait Comic & Puzzle in 2013. It only ran for two months. It also has the same illustrator that does the novels' illustrations. The title's a punny one, with "Manpaku" meaning full as in "complete" but also full as in "full stomach".
Kirby of the Stars: Sparkling★Pupupu World (��のカービィ キラキラ★プププワールド), by Nanjou Akisama, was published in Chara Parfait in 2014 until April, and is still publishing in Chara Parfait Comic & Puzzle. It has one volume. It's a 4-Koma that focuses on Kirby and Waddle Dee.
Kirby of the Stars: Daily Round Diary! (星のカービィ 今日もまんまる日記!), by Dynamic Tarou, is published in CoroCoro Ichiban, starting in 2016 and is still being serialized. Had a heavy focus on Robobot. Kirby is an innocent airhead, and Meta is a shy subordinate of Dedede who says he knows all about Kirby, but actually knows very little. Also, it's a "Manmaru Diary", with "Manmaru" meaning both "cute" and "perfectly circular/round", so it's also a punny title.
Kirby of the Stars: Full Pupupu Fantasy (星のカービィ 〜まんぷくプププファンタジー〜), by Takeuchi Ibuki, is published in CoroCoro Comic, starting in 2016 and is still being serialized. It has one volume so far. Kirby's a bit dense, such as how he didn’t know how to make cup ramen. He and Dedede are friends.

After six, long arduous months, this ranking somehow outlived the entire Almaia relationship, and that alone should be reason enough to finish the ranking immediately, but the the upcoming ban of all nfsw stuff (/porn) from this website will also cause a homosexual exodus (homosexodus? 🤔), sooooo, definitely time to finish this ranking before I lose 85% of my current audience.
Look, listen OKAY, just like how I naturally gravitate towards Lea Sirk’s sass and Elina’s pristineness and DoReDoS’s hilarious whateverthatwas, I was simply never *not* going to like a Lithuanian frumpy space princess and annointed HINDU with a voice more brittle than Theresa May’s position in the House of Commons, whose meditation rites include drinking a cup of boiling water (without the tea! just water) on a daily basis to *purify* her mind and soul. Okay the last MAY be an exaggeration on the behalf of the Flemish commentator (Peter Van de Veire is a known jokester), but then again, I can totally see Ieva telling this to random bystanders in her hotel lobby? Such oblivious, but well-meaning wackiness is just so Ieva SassyMouseKyte.
Naturally, one MASSIVE part of my Ieva stanning is JUST her personality, which is both intensely kooky and disarmingly innocent, see above. Another example: Ieva serenly sliding off the stage during the semifinal, only to find the nearest camera and exclaim ”I FELT THE PRESENCE OF *GODS* ON THE STAGE WHILE I WAS SINGING ^__^ I FEEL *ENLIGHTENED* 🤗🤗” llke she was Siddharta Gautama under the Bodhi tree <3 I am no a religious man but if Ieva said the stage was brightened with a non-descript Eastern Deity’s presence during the performance, who am I to refute it? 😁
Gods or no gods, I will say that it took a *serious* amount of dharma to give us *the most unexpected gift* we’ve ever could’ve been granted, which is a COMPETENT EUROVISION ENTRY FOR LITHUANIA. In terms of Eurovision, Lithuania are amongst of the objective *worst* on a terrifyingly consistent basis and here you have a fairly pleasant Ellie Goulding-inspired, frumpolicious Hindu cleric bringing a ballad about the inevitability of high medieval alliance pacts. Let’s Sing The Song That She Wrote:
Actually that’s selling the act a bit short, because for a brief moment, Ieva managed to transform her moment during the sheer INSANITY that was this year’s finale (well the sheer insanity streaked with horrifying, terrible, machinal dullness, not naming any names but *cough*austriaandaustralia*cough), into an oasis of *pure show-stopping sentiment* and that’s a powerful feat to accomplish for a Eurovision entry. Normally, you think such an entry would Blackbird itself into oblivion but as Ieva had prophetically declared, GOD WAS ON HER SIDE, AMEN, so nope, think again Christerifer Morningstar 😈
Speaking of, praise Hallellujah, Oh Glory and Mazzel-Motherfucking-Tov that Ieva qualified under the hilarity that is the current combined voting system (to those who still hate it, AISEL would’ve qualified under the old system despite being 12th in both jury and televote 🙃 Granted this would be funny if this had happened to Sennek or Ari or Eye Cue or basically anyone other than Aisel, but it didn’t so The Old System remains CANCELLED, s/n/s) because not only is Ieva an Elyon Goddess Moste High, and has the unique quality of being a Good Entry from Lithuania, “When We’re Old” is also... fucking awesome in itself?
“When we’re old” is *not* your typical BorisBubbles fave on the surface (lol as if I can expect you to know what a typical Boris fave is after only two full rankings on tumblr 😬), but it totally is? Ieva hits that personal sweet spot for me that I require from my faves: Quirky, but not overbearingly weird. Well-liked, but not liked *enough* to top every post-show list. Sentimental, but because her emotions are *real*, not because of some forced commercialized acting gig. (such as, um, fucking Rona Nishliu and her fake-as-fuck dry sobbing ugh die bitch! (k not literally, just musically, 5ever)). Also, this song makes me want to sing along like the soft ass fag that I am. “When Weeeeeeeeee’re OWLED Hooooooooooooooo!!!” All of this cements Ieva as a dark horse, an underdog and an eternal outsider and these are the *specific* type of entries that I started this blog for.
I guess I should write a bit more, with more *sass and pizzazz*, but that’s basically my Ieva love in a nutshell! I think she’s an utter gem, both as a human and a Eurovision participant, “When We’re Old” *still* remains the only entry this year to give me *emotional attachment* in the form of shivers and near-tears and bad impromptu karaoke. If you don’t think she’s all that, well that’s your loss, not sorry! She made the final through the good graces of Hare Krishna and did better than Jessi*can’t* and *No*lexander ! If I get a relationship, I want it be precisely like Ieva and her Hubbo’s. GET A LIFE!!

Spirit Airlines Review: A blog that gives a review about the Airlines and how it is operating.
1. Introduction
Spirit Airlines is an American low-cost airline with regional presence in several major U.S. cities, and a presence throughout the Caribbean and Central America. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Indigo Partners, Inc., an Israeli holding company. Spirit Airlines has its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The airline was founded in 1993 by Bill Sharp, who had been the CEO of United Airlines between 1987 and 1992. Spirit launched its first flight on January 29, 1994 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport with two leased Boeing 737-200 aircraft that were purchased from United Airlines.[3] The airlines first name was "Spirit of Fort Lauderdale", but "Spirit" was changed to avoid a trademark dispute with Spirit Aviation. It announced plans to start flying to Canada on March 1, 1996,[4] but that flight was canceled on February 17, 1997 because the Canadian government refused to grant it a licence.[5]
On February 21, 2012, one of its employees posted an insulting message about Spirit's founder on Craigslist;[6] as a result of these actions as well as other actions against Spirit's employees by other members of staff,[7][8][9][10][11] Alpha received negative press coverage from USA Today,[12][13][14] Washington Post,[15] Fox News,[16] ABC News,[17][18] Wall Street Journal[19], MSNBC,[20] USA Today[21], The Daily Beast[22], The Huffington Post[23], and HuffPost.[24]

The following year, Spirit added seven A320s to their fleet. In 2005, Spirit added five A321s to their fleet for domestic flights only. In 2006 Spirit began operating flights between Philadelphia and Toronto using two new Boeing 767 freighters.
In 2010 they bought five Airbus A330 aircraft through their subsidiary United Express LLC with an option for six additional A330 aircraft. That same year they also acquired four Airbus A340 planes through United Express LLC when United canceled the lease agreement on all four planes after London Heathrow Airport refused them permission to use Terminal 4 because those planes had never flown there before. In 2011, United Express LLC sold four A340 aircraft back to Spirit for $19 million under the option for six more A340 aircraft. They also purchased fifteen ground handling facilities through United Express LLC which are leased from Convairports Incorporated at a cost of $2 million per year each with an option for additional ground handling facilities over ten years starting in 2012 at an additional cost of $16 million per year each until 2020 when it would be fully paid off if all fifteen ground handling facilities were not returned within 12 months of signing the lease agreement with Convairports Incorporated.[4]
On March 22nd 2013 Spirit Airways entered into an agreement to buy 41 Airbus A320neo aircraft[5] which would bring them up to 100 total aircraft with 20 new planes being delivered by Airbus beginning in 2014.[6] By 2015 they had increased their fleet size even further by purchasing 19 new Boeing 737-

1. Introduction
Spirit Airlines is an American low-cost airline with regional presence in several major U.S. cities, and a presence throughout the Caribbean and Central America. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Indigo Partners, Inc., an Israeli holding company. Spirit Airlines has its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The airline was founded in 1993 by Bill Sharp, who had been the CEO of United Airlines between 1987 and 1992. Spirit launched its first flight on January 29, 1994 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport with two leased Boeing 737-200 aircraft that were purchased from United Airlines.[3] The airlines first name was "Spirit of Fort Lauderdale", but "Spirit" was changed to avoid a trademark dispute with Spirit Aviation. It announced plans to start flying to Canada on March 1, 1996,[4] but that flight was canceled on February 17, 1997 because the Canadian government refused to grant it a licence.[5]
