having to pay for sebastian, the only straight romance option in da2, is still funny on its own but I feel there’s also metatextual humor if we take the “varric is narrating this whole thing” to another level

like it’s no secret varric cannot stand this guy so the thought of cassandra piping up like “wait, wasn’t the champion also friends with the prince of starkhaven? you haven’t mentioned him at all”

and varric rolls his eyes so far back into his head he almost gives himself a migraine, then she insists “no, he is! I know I heard this, stop lying to me dwarf!”

he’s like “andraste’s nutsack, fine, but if you wanna hear about him I’m gonna need some financial incentive to jog my memory. he was so boring I often forget he was even there”

“you can’t be serious, are you saying you’ve completely forgotten everything about him?”

“seven sovereigns for the choir boy, seeker, take it or leave it”

"I want to kiss him."

Sputtered choking answered Tamlen and he felt red creep up his neck as Mara stared at him in shock, water dribbling down her chin.

"You want to what?"

He refused to look at her. "I don't have to repeat myself you heard me."

"Tamlen!" Mara exclaimed quietly, dropping her cup and grabbing his arm. The red had taken over his neck and now tipped his ears. She shook him lightly, frantically. "Who!? Zevran!?"

"Absolutely not!" Tamlen hissed, his whole face flushed now. "I'd rather gargle darkspawn blood again then place my lips on him."

"Then who would you even be thinking of--" She broke off as she followed his gaze...

To their fellow Grey Warden, shirtless, sweating, sword fighting with Sten in the middle of the camp. Alistair's tanned, muscled form gleamed in the sunlight as he went back and forth with Sten, grunting from a particular hard hit from the quanari. Sten stopped the practice, moving forward to give Alistair pointers. Alistair leaned in to listen, watching attentively at Sten's movements, his chest heaving slightly from the exercise.

"Tamlen..."

"Shut up, Mara, I don't want to hear it."

"Tamlen."

"I said--"

"I want to kiss him too."

Tamlen whipped his head around. Mara met his gaze with a wild grin, her own flush high on her cheeks.

"Well, damn." Tamlen whispered, wishing he felt conflicted, but found that his own smile was forming.

"So..." Mara hedged with a mischievous tilt of her head. "Are you going to ask him to our tent or me?"

"Creator's, Mara," Tamlen laughed, covering his face.

"You then? Got it!" She twisted away from him as he swung to smack her, rolling away and standing in one graceful move. Mara winked at him."I'll even let you get the first kiss."

Minecraft genji skin!

He's a really complex character, so it was really hard to get a pixel skin to look right, and I had to completely remove some of his features for it to work.

I don't know how to properly texture pixels yet, but I really like how he turned out!
