somewhere along the way coffee had become a necessary evil.  probably the angel’s fault all that time spent going to bakeries or lunch causing them to order a drink just to keep up appearances.  here they were in life for coffee when they could feel someone staring at them.  they knew the sunglasses inside weren’t exactly normal but they were a necessity.  they’d only stand out more if they removed them and they very much did not want to answer questions about their eyes.  “didn’t your mother teach you it’s rude to stare?” they questioned turning to face the individual.

it has been said over and over again but if y'all want this fandom to live all the way until season 3 you NEED to start reblogging posts. and no, i don't just mean the occasional one you deem worthy, i mean every single post you like should ALSO be reblogged.
the only exception are posts that are very personal or have a disclaimer, although tumblr has the options to turn reblogs OFF.
so if reblogs are on - REBLOG the post. likes do not mean shit, i'm sorry, there is no algorithm based on likes. they're appreciated but they do not do anything, they do not help spread content, they do nothing to further connection within the fandom.
a 1:10 reblog to likes ratio is disheartening, and there will be more than a few people who get only likes and zero other interactions who will stop posting because of that.
tumblr lives off of reblogs, this isn't twitter or instagram or tiktok, you HAVE to reblog posts, that's the whole goddamn point of the system.
so please, i don't care if you have zero followers or two thousand, reblog every post you like, especially if it's art (whether written, gifs, fanart, etc. doesn't matter).

timeline in which aziraphale is in fact tasked with raising a new baby jesus in an orphanage run entirely by angels so there are no shenanigans nor interferences but the supreme archangel insists they hire at least one human who actually knows how to raise human children. a "human" eventually shows up. Jesus 2 is named Lucy <3

“An emergency contact…” Yuu scratches their head. “Well, there’s one adult who stands out. Someone who has welcomed me with open arms, listened to my needs, and someone I really look up to and trust. Headmage Crowley! Do you have Trein’s cell number?”
Not gonna lie, you had me bawling in the first half 😂
Enter; An Unkindness of Ravens.
Tumblr media
Up until now, Crowley had been nodding enthusiastically to your every comment. Feathers fluffed, eyes shut, as he bathed in the unearned praise. You could almost see his ego inflating right before you.
One adult who stands out.
A smile formed.
Someone who has welcomed me with open arms...
It grew, elevating the apples of his cheeks.
... listened to my needs...
He was glowing with pride, the most excited you had ever witnessed him.
... and someone I really look up to and respect.
His face might actually rip in half.
The you had dropped the bomb, and Crowley's entire demeanor collapsed in on itself. His shattered smile landed atop of the heap.
“Wh-What?! Professor Trein…!!” he managed to stutter out. “Did I hear you correctly?!”
"Yeah," you replied calmly. "Professor Trein."
"Wh-What exactly makes him a standout?!" Crowley demanded. When you gave him a queer look, he quickly deflected. "N-Not that I am envious, of course! I am asking as his employer so that I may take student feedback into consideration when calculating end-of-the-year performance-based bonuses."
"He's done so much to look after me and all of his students,” you patiently explained. “Professor Trein chaperoned us to the City of Flowers and taught us about its history. He ensured our safety when there was trouble afoot and even shed a tear for our moral character. I also heard from Ace and Deuce that Professor Trein oversaw NRC when Charon invaded campus.
“He always makes time to speak one-on-one with his students even on matters outside of schoolwork. Professor Trein cares about us like we're his real children and grandchildren. I'd totally trust him as my emergency contact.
“Compared to that… I seem to vaguely remember a certain someone who shirks his responsibilities at every opportunity, wastes his time on walks and snacks instead of running the school, offloads his duties onto children, and ignores my SOS calls when I was being held hostage over winter break.”
“I wonder who it could be that you’re speaking off.”
“Gee, I wonder,” you said sarcastically, staring right at Crowley. “Sucks that we’ll never know. Anyway, do you have Professor Trein's number or not?"
"W-Well!!" Crowley bristled, disarmed by your demand. "It wouldn't be very professional of me to hand out my employees' contact information as though it were Halloween candy! It's strictly confidential, I'm afraid I cannot divulge it."
He folded his arms smugly, waiting for you to change your mind, to beg for his cell phone number instead.
"Aaah, I get it." You shrugged, cool as a cucumber. "That's okay, I can ask Professor Trein directly myself. It was worth a shot to ask you anyway, headmaster. See ya!"
With that, you turned and exited his office. No fanfare, no groveling. Just... nothing.
Crowley completely deflated, cradling his head in his hands. He teased out a whiny groan.
"For them to overlook their most generous headmaster in favor of Professor Trein... Ooooh, where did I go wrong with that child...?"

I really really reallllly hope we get more Crowley and Muriel interactions in season 3. And possibly a friendship between the two of them. Muriel seems to like both Crowley and Aziraphale even though they aren’t supposed to.
How wonderful would it be if they could expand their social circle to others who don’t quite fit in line with heaven or hell?
Tumblr media
I love how sweet he is here! And look how happy Muriel is to be acknowledged!

The visual mirroring between these two moments is just so good.
The differnce between Crowley's genuine attempt to disuade Aziraphle thinking that he is doing good (soon he'll take off his glasses and show his eyes, the mark of his demonic nature, to Aziraphale as a threat - a reminder of what he is) and his warning reminder to Aziraphale that hell can't think this was a decision he made in his right mind (moving in close and tilting his head to look at Aziraphale over the top of his glasses, not as a threat but to remove a layer between them and show his seriousness unobstructed)
The differnce between the resolve in the set of Aziraphales jaw as he stares into the face of his supposed enemy (his belief in Crowley's goodness is so defiant, something we know Aziraphale needs to muster a lot of courage to bring about in himself) and his fond smile as his friend gives him the same admonishment he has hundreds - thousands? - of times before (he can count on Crowley's goodness as a given, the ease and softness he feels with Crowley is so natural to his character)
Just. So. Good.

"i can live with that." crowley responded nodding their head before turning their attention back to the paper. honestly they'd rather have nothing to do with the shadowhunter but he knew magnus. it was important he got along with friends, acquaintances, whatever exactly this man was, to magnus. "actually" they commented folding it up again. "there is one thing you could do for me. besides leaving me alone. keep an eye on an angel for me. he needs someone to look after him. keep him from making any more stupid decisions."

After the celebration had finally ended, Halt decided he’d had enough of formalities and appearances. A grand homecoming to Araluen was not what he’d wanted. Now that he had Will back, all that was left to do was to return to the little cabin in Redmont and sleep for a week straight. If it weren’t for the assembly the King called for, he’d be able to do just that.
Someone knocked on the door. He gave a final tug on the straps of his pack before heading over, heaving in a silent sigh. But when the door swung open, he was met with an unexpected face.
Well, not entirely unexpected. It was bound to happen sooner or later. He’d rather it would have been later, but alas, Fate seemed to be enjoying her time with him.
“Crowley.” He stepped aside, allowing the Ranger Commandant in the room. “I thought you’d have left by now.”
“Really?” The sandy-haired man turned to look at him. “Eleven months, and that’s the first thing you have to say.”
“Eleven and one week,” he said quietly. “And I seem to recall giving you a full report earlier. So no, that is not the first thing I have said to you.”
Crowley ran a hand through his hair. “And one week.” A breathy chuckled escaped the other man. “Do you think I haven’t been counting each day?”
He raised an eyebrow. “A Ranger Commandant has more important things to do than wait for the prodigal son to return.”
“I’m sorry.” The older Ranger reached a hand towards his arm and then faltered, those light eyes desperately seeking his. “If I could go back in time, I would change everything. I would have broken you out of prison. I would have covered it all up. No one would have ever known.”
“Having everyone know was a part of the plan.”
“But why, Halt?” His voice broke. “Why would you put us through that?”
Halt raised his eyes to the ceiling. After all this time, his friend still had the nerve to ask the same question. “I don’t give you as much credit as I should. You’re not stupid, Crowley. You know the answer.”
It was the boy. Will. He would have burned the world for his apprentice if necessity demanded it of him. He had given up his life for some cheeky, over-talkative child that had somehow become an integral part of his life. Losing Will had been like losing an arm. He could have said all this and more, but he wasn’t sure if the other Ranger would ever truly understand.
“Crowley.” He laid a land on his friend’s shoulder. “You have your loyalties and I have mine. Surely you didn’t think I’d change over the years?”
“No. I never would have expected that.” The older Ranger turned away. “You always were a stubborn one.”
“And I don’t intend on changing that. I became a Ranger to help you. Not to pledge my full allegiance to a King.”
“That’s exactly what being a Ranger is.” The silver Oakleaf felt heavy around his neck. Halt knew what the Oakleaf meant. Running away from Clonmel, he was given a second chance, and that chance had been Araluen and its Rangers. He liked Duncan a great deal more than he cared to admit—certainly the Araluan was a far better King than either him or Ferris. But against all odds, that’s just what Duncan was.
A King.
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” Crowley said quietly. “But it seems to me you’re doing fine in that sense.”
Halt let go of the man’s shoulder. “You thought too highly of me. That’s your mistake.”
“I think just enough of you.” The redhead sighed. “My only mistake was turning you away. I’m sorry, Halt.”
He met his friend’s eyes, and saw the pain inside them, pain he was responsible for. “I am, too.”
