with the way when crowley saw discorporated aziraphale while in the pub, he asked something along the lines of “are you real”/“are you here” which makes me think of all the other times he was drunk and hallucinated/imagined aziraphale standing before him.

I've been thinking a lot about series one of Good Omens and how the present-day portions surrounding the apocalypse are a glimpse into the most emotionally fraught part of these two beings' relationship. They've spent six thousand years see-sawing back and forth about whether or not it was okay for them to be friends, all the while nursing very strong romantic love for each other. Somewhere in the last few centuries, they started to let their guards down more and more, and then the stupid apocalypse to be was upon them.
Tumblr media
They go from not only having to watch their backs when they spend time together, to also having to deal with the idea that they might literally be expected to kill each other. We're walking into their lives at what is essentially the most intense moment of pressure their relationship has ever undergone. There are these massive moments of tension between them because the future is so uncertain and despite all the ways their friendship had been tested, it didn't compare to the damned Antichrist.
Tumblr media
That's why I'm so grateful for the flashbacks in episode 3, because those are the moments that show us what Aziraphale and Crowley are fighting for. They show us what they stand to lose and why they're both so scared. Crowley's mercurial nature in episode 2, Aziraphale's appeals to the Metatron... It's all tied to the desire to protect each other and the things they've built. They both love humanity, of course, but they also love each other so much and series one is like walking into a room and seeing two people who love each other being forced to walk a tightrope from either side and trying to meet in the middle... and the bastards do it!
Tumblr media
Therein lies the beauty of series 2. The blatant touches, the teasing, the bad French- Those are the real Crowley and Aziraphale. That is what they were fighting for. That's what they'll fight for again when the time comes. Series one was the start of that. They will find their 'Us.'

Well, I am a stylist & designer, so i decided to make a small timeline of costumes featured in Good Omens S1&2. Some interviews with Claire Anderson were extremely helpful, and I used my own observations sometimes, so feel free to discuss & analyze everything with me. Hope @neil-gaiman would like it and S3 gonna be confirmed and give us more costumes <3

The fallen Angel
“All I ever did was ask questions…”
This piece was a struggle but it was so fun! The wings did take years off my life but in the end I think they turned out good! I just had this idea of Aziraphale being there to catch Crowley as he fell, I thought it might be cute- and heal our broken hearts. I also put in some process images of my thumbnail sketch :) hope you guys like it!

U ever just sit down and think— oh what a great love story Good Omens is.
Adam, the antichrist himself, loved his parents, his *real* parents, the ones that loved and raised him. He denied his destiny bc he knew what love is, and it isn't whatever the fck Satan is to him. He loved his friends, his family, and the world— love altered reality.
Beelzebub and Gabriel found each other. An angel and a demon who has known nothing but to obey what they thought they were made for. Choosing sides was their thing, but now, they found something worth more than that. They fell in love and suddenly, nothing else but them made sense.
Then, there's Nina and Maggie, defining a love that is new, and exciting, and difficult— makes you wonder if it would be worth it. In the end, Nina needs to heal and Maggie swears to wait. And I just wonder if it would work. I wonder if they'll be able to fall in love with each other, without outside forces pushing them together. Will they find their way to each other? But I think of Good Omens and I remember, it's a love story, so, maybe, they will.
Finally, there's Aziraphale and Crowley— the old love. Azi & Crow stopped Armageddon bc they love the world, and each other.
I keep thinking about their love, the way they reciprocate it so well.
S1, "Even if this all ends up in a pile of burning goo, we can go off together," that line made proof of Crowley's love, and it was directed to Aziraphale. He didn't need Heaven nor Hell, and he loves Earth, but when he said that line, that was him declaring that if they can't save Earth, then it doesn't matter— as long as Aziraphale is with him. That's his love, his truth, and it's them, Aziraphale and Crowley together.
Then, s2 (one of many reasons I love s2), Aziraphale proved to reciprocate Crowley's sentiment. "Nothing lasts forever," he said. He loved Earth, the bookshop was proof of this, he made a life for himself on Earth out of love. But, all that, meant little compared to Crowley. Aziraphale has been disobeying Heaven for as long as we have all witnessed, and he wouldn't have stopped Armageddon if he didn't know any better. And yet, here he is, willing to leave the life he's built on Earth with humanity, to be in Heaven with Crowley.
Aziraphale has been loyal, to the best of his ability, towards Heaven. He believed in the ineffable plan, but look at him now, going back to Heaven fully determined to change it because he knows that it will never be safe for them to be together unless they fix this. Heaven and Hell will always want their war, and unless they do something about it, it's not going to be a happily ever after for Aziraphale and Crowley.
And Crowley was hurt, has felt abandoned, and rejected. Because he just wants to grab Aziraphale and escape, but Aziraphale walked away.
And Aziraphale, too, was hurt, has felt abandoned, and rejected. He wanted to work on their happily ever after together, but Crowley walked away.
And after watching to the end, I wondered if they would work, if they would find each other again. But this is Good Omens, it's a love story, and in this love story, Aziraphale and Crowley have always been able to find each other.
And it's amazing. I have been thinking of love everytime I watch Good Omens. It just radiates so much love.

I don’t really, wish for this to happen, but I always thought it’d be hilarious if at some point God’s form was revealed and it was just fucking Neil with Frances McDormand’s voice.

The casting of Michael Sheen and David Tennant for good omens was artful, and not just in a "they did a real good job" way.
The thing about queer media is that it's not just the film. When an actor does a queer film, regardless of whether they're queer themselves, they're somehow taken as a Representative Of The Alphabetti Spaghetti. So, to star in queer media you have to be morally rock solid, unable to be found fault with, or it seems to set queer people back? Which is ridiculous.
David Tennant is SUCH a household name, literally has been Doctor Who, and doesn't use the internet enough to care about some transphobes on shitter sorry twit sorry xitter. For him to do gomens is wild but also meant that my father, who wasn't homophobic but apathetic, has now watched queer media and vaguely understood queer issues. (This may in part be because of his queer daughter, but regardless.)
Michael Sheen is an actual angel in real life. "I give all my profit to charity" right Sheen, give the rest of us a bit of generosity- oh, and he's sold his house. For him to do queer media means nobody's finding faults in his character. For him to do queer media means it's not just another excuse for people to discriminate against queer people. Also, for him to do so well at it? Like yes, you stare at David Tennant with lovesick eyes (I mean we're all doing it, but none of us TO HIS FACE ON CAMERA WHEN WE STILL HAVE TO WORK WITH HIM-)
Anyway just a few thoughts. They rattled around my brain for a bit like tumbleweeds and I might not have expressed this well but have them.

The final scene in S1E6 holds such a special place in my heart
Everything about this, The scenery and it’s gorgeous colors, the pianos lid conveniently settled above Crowleys head nodding to the scene in Eden, The music, the way Aziraphale leans into Crowley when speaking to him and just ever so gently places his hand on the table next to him, and of course the rapt attention Crowley gives Aziraphale.
This will always be one of my favorite scenes in both seasons
