Coelacanth
Coelacanth fossils are commonly found in both ocean and freshwater. Now they live in the West Indian Ocean and Indonesia. They were thought to have gone extinct in the late Cretaceous period, but were found still alive off the coast of South Africa in 1938. The name coelacanth comes from the latin Cœlacanthus meaning hollow spine.

People are talking about how reading Dungeon Meshi gives them an internal monologue Senshi for eating properly I think we all need to adopt an internal monologue Chilchuck at work. Like the boat is literally sinking and he's just watching it happen because he's on his lunch break.

Keesingia gigas
These funky jellyfish live off the coast of western Australia. They have dangerous stings that can cause severe pain and in some cases heart failure. Keesingia gigas are strange in that supposedly they should have tentacles, however all specimens found so far haven’t had any.

(click for higher quality!) draconified link concept ive been chipping away at this past week ..... here's my funny little compendium concept for him:
"A heroic spirit has taken the form of this bestial dragon. Unlike it's kin, this creature exhibits an extremely aggressive disposition. It appears highly territorial, and will relentlessly chase down those who disturb its skywide patrols - of which it seems to be endlessly searching for either a long-time vassal or foe. Unfortunately, it seems the spirit within has long since forgotten exactly who it was looking for…"
