Glare/Allay/Copper Golem!Reader Part 3 Announcment
I'm sorry to do this to you all, but I've come to a realization tonight. I was procrastinating on the Reader writing due to wanting more lore for the Anarchist Commune since I wrote up to the most recent lore at the time for the Glare. Unfortunately, with the passing of Techno and what I've gathered from Twitter, that's not going to happen anymore, or at least not any time soon.
I've mostly got stuff for the Allay and Copper Golem, and I will write about saving Micheal for the Glare, but I'm going to be splitting them into separate stories like the rest of the individual stories.
I'm not stopping writing for them and I'll have something for the Copper Golem out hopefully sometime this week. I'm sorry that there's no part 3 anymore, but you will get more writings of them.
Thank you for your understanding. And I'm sorry again.

Have some stories that have been sitting in my mind, would you want to see any of these?
Story 1; Heart Spector Hotel
Love Potioned! Main Four!Ninjas competing for the affections of the ASW!Reader to escape the grasp of Cordelia (but also because they are secretly in love with you)
Story 2; Fantasy AU
The Reader is next in line to the throne of an empire, the different kingdoms are invited to compete for their hand in marriage. (Along with some secret stuff ;)
Kai and Nya, the kingdom of Torchflare
Torchflare is, of course, known for its passion and is undeniably the head of smithing, if your empire is ever in the brink ot war the vast amount of weapons supplied for aid is something that could improve your empires offence greatly.
Zane, the kingdom of Kinfrost
Kinfrost, one of the oldest standing kingdoms known for its creation of the Golems; creatures of titanium and copper, built to protect the innocents of their kingdom. Merging your empire with Kinfrost would prove to improve your empires defence.
Cole, the kingdom of Silverden
Silverden, before your empire had risen had been the practical “leader” taking charge and supplying each kingdom in need. The kingdom is known for its confectionary and culinary genius along with its spread of entertainment. Merging your empire with Sillverden would greatly improve your empires persuasion and favor.
Jay, the kingdom of Swiftlight
Swiftlight, known for its head of invention Jay, the prince himself. While the kingdoms population is the smallest, having the head of invention on your side (marriage or not) would prove great use all around. All you would need to do is catch his interest from Nya.
Morro, fallen kingdom Greenwhisp
Morro the past prince of Greenwhisp now finds himself in the place of a future revolution. Discovering at a young age that he had not actually held the potential to be the savior, his kingdom had been torn to the ground. Now with the loss of everything he works with the “preeminent” who promised to be given the power to reclaim his homeland. Choosing Morro you would need to sacrifice it all
Story 3; Lloyds Parent AU
A single mom who works two jobs!Reader going on different “dates” with the Ninjas while taking care of Lloyd.
MONDAY
“Date” 1; Kai, Coffee “date” after picking Lloyd up from school

The Start of something Dangerous Pt3
Here is Part 1 & Part 2 if you missed it. This is the final part of this fic, I hope you all have enjoyed it. @anoncat-007 @sweetpotato-97
No under 18's
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yandere Machine Viktor x F Reader
Warnings: NSFW smut, Angst, Mentions of murder, Strangling. I think that's it... Sorry if forgot something.
Note: I absolutely love Blitzcrank, he's such a good older brother. Wish there was more Blitz content in this. So as I said, this is the final part, and get ready, because it's a long one. ;)
You wake up slowly as you feel someone shaking you softly, trying to stir you from your involuntary slumber. As you are finally able to open your eyes, you see a massive shape looming over you and you somehow by sheer reflex manage to fling yourself to the opposite side of the bed you’re lying on, a small squeak of a scream escaping your lips. The copper golem stares at you, bright blue eyes unblinking as it studies you. It doesn’t seem to be a threat, at least not at the moment. You can’t help but smile as it slowly tilts its head from one side to the other, as if pondering a question.
“It is good you are finally awake, mother unit. Brother has been asking for you. He is currently in the lab; father unit is showing him how he builds the parts to help the people.”
Your eyes widen as you jump to your feet, walking over to the golem you grasp one of his large hands in both of yours, your eyes pleading.
“Please take me to my son.”
He nods and turns, leading you out of the room. As you follow him you notice the height of the ceiling, realising this must be the warehouse on the map from Ambrose’s room; it must have been refurbished to double as a house and workshop. You walk past a kitchen and living room area before the golem turns and climbs up a flight of stairs. He slowly pushes open a door at the top and the sound of your son’s voice drifts out. You quickly push past him, only to freeze in your tracks as the sight before you leaves you stunned. Your son is happily talking to, for lack of a better description, something. A tall figure looms over Ambrose; where the golem has a more rounded body that makes him look jolly, this figure is all metal plates and angles. It looks like a high-tech suit of armour, but it’s more than that. You can make out the flesh of the figures neck fusing with the shoulder piece of the armour and you know it’s his body. There’s some cloth draped over one shoulder and his back like a cape and a loin cloth rests over his hips to hang down between his legs; for modesty or aesthetics, you can’t be sure. His dark hair moves with every turn or nod of his head and you can just make out that he looks to be wearing a mask. The Machine Herald, this is him; and he has your son enraptured, hanging on every word he speaks. You urge your frozen body to move, to push past the fear and dread holding you in place like a vice. With a surge of energy, you quickly cross the distance to push your body in-between that of the Herald and your son, glaring up at him as you reach a hand back to hold your son against you.
“Get away from him! I’m taking my son and we’re leaving.”
You start moving away from him, pulling your son with you as you feel him try to resist, when the Herald speaks up. His voice sounds familiar, curling the words with that accent you love.
“Would you really deprive a father of his son? Especially when we’ve only just met?”
“Vik… Viktor?”
Your son manages to pull free of your grip and run over to him, jumping up and down excitedly.
“Look mama! I found him. I knew he was alive. Aren’t you proud of me?”
Your attention snaps back to your son and you find yourself wresting with a slew of emotions, too many to sort through right now. So, you kneel down slowly, putting yourself at eye level with your son as you try to remain calm and keep your tone even.
“You ran away from home, Ambrose. I was worried about you. You could have gotten hurt, or worse, while trying to get here. Do you understand that?”
Ambrose looks down at his feet, the dejected look on his little face making him look more like the ten-year-old boy he is than the young man he tries to be. The Herald bends down to place a hand on your son’s shoulder, trying to comfort him.
“Perhaps you and Blitzcrank should go to the kitchen for some sweetmilk while your mother and I speak.”
Before you can argue he looks at you and even though he’s wearing a mask, his gaze is so intense that you find your protests dying on your tongue. Ambrose nods and Blitzcrank claps his large metallic hands in delight.
“Sweetmilk for brother. Come! We shall have some brother bonding.”
He leads Ambrose out, leaving you and the Machine Herald alone in the large workroom. The walls are lined with desks over strewn with mechanical equipment and shelves filled with all kinds of metal parts and pieces. Right in the centre of the room is a kind of operating table, the kind you’d expect in a hospital, with a large light on a movable arm hovering above it. A strange thought pops into your head and makes you smile despite yourself.
“I believe greetings are in order, doctor Frankenstein?”
He lets out a soft chuckle before slowly lifting up the mask to reveal his face, his hair falling onto his forehead like it used to. As his golden glowing eyes land on you, a soft gasp escapes your lips. The whites of his eyes are now black and the golden irises emit a soft glow, his skin is still pale, although it seems a bit more ashen now; but it’s still him. He’s alive. You jump to your feet, rushing towards him; you throw your arms around his neck in a tight hug. You feel his arms wrapping around you slowly, cautiously; almost like he’s afraid if he touches you, he’ll realize it’s a mirage. His metal chest is cold and hard against you, and try as you might you can’t ignore that he’s the same, but also vastly different. You let out a sigh as you slowly pull away, putting some space between the two of you so that you can look up at him, look into his eyes. His hands remain at your waist, refusing to let you move too far away.
“So, how much of you is still you and how much is metal?”
He does a slight head cock, the “Eh” leaving his lips like it used to, and immediately you’re reminded of the old Viktor. The Viktor who would get flustered at the slightest compliment. The Viktor who made you a metallic silver rose, because normal roses wilt and die. And even though this Viktor reminds you of your Viktor, he isn’t him, not anymore.
“I had to replace my lungs, for obvious reasons. A few other non-essential organs I also replaced, just for ease and before any other medical issues might take hold. I fused most of my skin with a synthetic alloy I invented. It functions as normal skin would, but it is much more durable. I had to combine my blood with a self-engineered bio-fuel to get the new mechanical organs to function with the normal ones; a difficult, albeit rewarding experience. Luckily my new projects don’t require such extensive alterations. I’ve been successful in making any new organs or limbs work with regular blood supplied by the body. That way my patients don’t need to have their blood suffused regularly, like I do.”
You smile as he continues to speak, apparently the passion he has for his work still gets him carried away with his explanations. He’s always been able to ramble on and on about whatever he’s working on, trying to explain it to you or whomever might want to hear. Your own musings are suddenly interrupted when you feel his warm breath on your neck, just below your ear as he whispers:
“But I made sure to save your favourite parts of me. My face; because I remember how much you enjoyed caressing my beauty spots whenever we were in bed together, lying in each other’s arms. My heart, because it has always been yours. And lastly, the one part of me that always managed to make you scream my name.”
One of his hands slide off your waist to grasp your hand and place it firmly between his legs. You feel, beneath that damn loin cloth, his cock twitching and hot as your palm presses over it. A quiet “Fuck” escapes your lips as you close your eyes, involuntary memories of days spent in his bed playing across your eyelids. You feel his lips graze over your cheek, leaving a burning trail across your skin, before planting a feverish kiss on your lips. You wrap your arms around his neck once more, one of your hands knotting in his hair as you return the kiss. You kiss him with all the love and longing for him that you had kept locked up inside of your heart all these years. Tears sting your eyes as he holds you tightly against his chest, lifting you up off of the floor to place more kisses along your neck and jaw before returning to your mouth. You feel your longing for him bleed down your body to a more intimate part of yourself, a moan escaping your lips and he moans in return. You open your eyes and the heat of his gaze is enough to pull another moan from you.
“Viktor. I need you.”
With one arm he sweeps everything off of the desk next to him, placing you on top of it in a sitting position. He kneels in front of you, pulling off your pants with rushed and shaking hands before his head disappears between your legs as his hands move under your knees to hook your legs over his shoulders. You let out a ragged breath in a hiss as you feel his tongue flick over your clit, already warm and soaked from your arousal. You hear him moan in appreciation as his lips close around your clit to suck on it, the action makes your head snap back as your back arches, his name leaving your lips like a prayer and a curse. His head moves back so he can look up at you, a devilish smile on his face.
“Remove the rest of your clothes for me, my dove?”
Your hands happily oblige before your mind can even fully process the request and you feel him move to stand between your legs, his loin cloth now removed. His hands slowly hook your legs over his hips as he leans in to take one of your now bare nipples into his mouth. His tongue is warm as it swirls around your nipple while he sucks on it. His hands rest on your hips, holding you in place on the edge of the table as he rubs his throbbing cock between your folds. His mouth releases your nipple to place kisses up your chest and in your neck, the cold air a stark contrast to his warm mouth. He moans against the skin of your throat, his lips vibrating with the sound.
“You’re perfect. My beautiful love.”
He kisses you then as he starts to push his cock inside of you, achingly slowly. You kiss him feverishly, a mess of lips and tongues as your hands find hold in his hair, like a grounding element to keep your soul from soaring away from all the pleasure you feel. You feel him fill you perfectly, like you were made for each other; before he pulls out only to repeat the process, igniting a spark in your belly that shoots up your spine. It isn’t long before you feel that familiar sensation, like standing on a precipice before suddenly falling. You feel his name leave your lips as you constrict around his cock, your ecstasy taking over as you reach your climax. You vaguely hear him whispering your name into your hair as you feel yourself come down from your high, his arms wrapped around you to hold you against his chest. You feel him shaking slightly as his own climax starts to subside and he kisses your hair, simply holding you. You sigh contentedly when something catches your eye; a rust-coloured stain on his cape, just past his shoulder. Images come flooding back to your memory; the men lying in the alleyway, bleeding out. The cold hand clamping over your mouth to press the rag over your nose, and the glimpse of a mask with golden eyes before the world went dark. You pull away suddenly, as much as you can in your current position; to stare up at him with wide eyes.
“It was you. You killed those men!”
He sighs, sounding slightly annoyed as he pulls out of you, leaving you feeling strangely empty. You climb off the table to grab your clothes, praying your knees don’t give in after what just transpired between the two of you.
“They were going to kill you Y/N. What was I supposed to do? Let them?”
You manage to grab your shirt and pull it on, trying to cover up your naked body and recover some of your modesty. Viktor doesn’t seem to have the same qualms, his loin cloth lying forgotten on the floor as he paces slightly.
“Eh, honestly, I was hoping you wouldn’t even remember that whole ordeal. The substance I used to render you unconscious was supposed to cause short term memory loss.”
You stare at him incredulously, his blasé attitude towards human life leaving you feeling stunned.
“You could have simply stopped them! You didn’t need to kill them.”
He lets out a huff as he turns his full gaze back to rest on you, no longer pacing.
“Do not fool yourself Y/N. This is Zaun. They would not hesitate to kill you, so why should I hesitate to do the same?”
You shake your head as you gather the rest of your clothes, trying to get dressed quickly.
“If that’s how easy it is for you to kill someone, then Ambrose and I won’t be staying. I won’t let my son…”
He’s on you in the blink of an eye, a hand wrapping around your throat to hold you in place as a third arm appears from under his cloak to train a glowing eye on you. He attached the Hex-claw to his back it seems.
“OUR son. Our son that you chose not to tell me about. That you chose to keep from me. No, my dear Y/N, you and OUR son won’t be going anywhere. This is your home now.”
You desperately claw at his hand, trying to remove it from your throat as your lungs beg for air.
“Vik… Please…”
He relaxes his grip, but only slightly, and you greedily suck air into your body as your lungs burn from the strain. His eyes harden as he looks down at you, his voice gaining a tinge of venom as he speaks.
“You are mine. You walked away from me once because I was too weak to stop you. Never again.”
You glare up at him, the tone of your voice matching his.
“Jayce will come looking for us.”
He surprises you by laughing.
“Then I will kill him. No one will take you from me. Do you understand now Y/N?”
He pulls you close to lean in and say into your ear as you hear Ambrose laughing in the hallway with Blitzcrank.
“You. Are. Mine.”

Tears for another day

pt. 2
You stood in the corner with your arms crossed. Your tail swished behind you unimpressed. Your eyes were trained on the 3 strangers that had broken into your cottage. You slammed the front door announcing your presence. The trio jumped. “Who,” you growled. “Are you?” The smaller brunette gulped looking back at the other two. The masked one put one hand in the air and slowly reached into his bag. “Stop moving,” you snapped at him, ears twitching anxiously. Suddenly he threw a bone out and at your feet. You glanced down at the item before looking back up. You started howling with laughter. The three men looked at each other uncomfortable as you slammed your fist on the table. You were laughing so hard, tears began streaming down your cheeks. “You- you,” you struggled to get some breaths. After finally calming down to soft giggles you tried again.
“You thought that just because I’m wolf hybrid that throwing a bone at me would tame me like those other knuckleheads?”
You smirked looking between them for an answer. “Look, we just wanted to see who was building on our land,” the masked blonde said. You frowned at that and stomped closer. “Now wait just a minute, this is not your land,” you pushed the dark-haired male out of the way. The brunette cried out a name worried “Sapnap,” suddenly there was a hand in your hair just behind your fuzzy ears. Before you could complain the fingers started scratching.
“Hey you- oh…that’s-” you leaned more into the touch.
"That's the spot, a little lower,“ the fingers moved slightly and your tail started thumping against the ground. "Fuck, that’s it,” you sighed, content noises following. After a minute they stopped. You blinked confused. “Wha? Why’d you stop?” you stared up at the one they called Sapnap. He just blinked down at you before looking at the blonde.
“Can we keep her?” He asked before gasping.
“Oh my God Dreammmm we always talked about getting a puppy. Can we keep her? Can we? Can we?” Sapnap dropped to his knees and held his hands up pleading. “I don't- Sapnap stop it,” Dream backed away a bit. Sapnap kept approaching him causing Dream to go back further. You crossed your arms watching again, this time feeling more at ease. The brunette came to stand by you.
“What’s your name?”
“(Y/n),” you answered watching Sapnap almost snatch Dream’s mask off.
“You?”
“George,”
Dream had finally had enough. “Fine, fine,” Dream shouted, he lifted his mask up. His hard green gaze falling upon you. “You coming with mutt?” He asked irritated. You looked around before shrugging. “Sure whatever,” his shoulder slumped. “That- it was that easy?” He asked confused. You skipped around grabbing a few things. “Sure, might as well go on new adventures, nothing to do here,”
When you had first met everything was amazing. You had many adventures with them. Battling witches in the swamps with Dream, stealing blaze rods from the nether with Sapnap, and running from the iron golem with George. At the end of the day however you were with your boys. They were all you needed. That was before everything started getting complicated.
Dream had been fiddling with something for the past 10 minutes. You could smell whatever it was, leather and copper. What a weird combination. However you were more concentrated on Sapnap, he was playing a new game with you. If you could guess what he was holding in his hand behind his back you could have it. “Honey,” you finally answered. You had been amusing him by pretending to be thinking. Sapnap groaned before handing you the crystal bottle of syrupy liquid. “She’s just going to keep winning ” George chided him, sharping some arrows.
“Eh,” Sapnap rolled his eyes and waved a hand of dismissal at him.
“I’ll win one of these days,” he responded.
“(Y/n). Here,” you heard Dream call. You slowly wandered over, his tone had been sharp. You sat by him hoping you hadn’t done anything wrong. “Yes, dream?” now that you were closer you could see what he had been messing with. It was a beautiful collar. Your eyes narrowed at him for a moment. “It’s just to remind those strangers that you are with us. I wouldn’t want them to mess with you,” Dream said softly. You thought for a second. It might have seemed simple to him but a collar was a big deal. It was the ultimate sign of loyalty and it tied you to them.
“You do realize what this means right?” you asked unsurely.
Dream nodded, smiling. That smile always reassured you, put comfort in your soul. You lifted up your hair and let Dream click it around your neck. His finger trailed over it lightly, his eyes never leaving the jewelry he placed on your neck. His glittering green eyes looked into yours excitedly. “You’re officially one of us pup,” Sapnap called your name waving a stick in the air. You stood and shifted into a large black and white wolf. Bounding toward Sapnap you attempted to grab the stick from him. George and Dream laughed watching the two of you play tug.
You didn’t think much of these strangers, Dream always said they were dangerous and not to be trusted. It wasn’t until weeks later that you ran across one. You had been picking some berries from a bush far from the community home. Something caught your scent causing you to almost drop the basket of fruit. A fox. They were known for stealing berries and you wouldn’t allow that to happen to your crops. Slowly you crept towards the edge of the hill you were on. Looking down there was a fox hybrid and another man who was blonde, they were deep in conversation, the fox frowning. You couldn’t help the low growl that rumbling in your throat.
Suddenly a cool metal pressed against the back of your neck. Slowly you turned, heart pounding. There was a man with a beanie holding a sword to your throat. His eyes trailed down to the collar. “Property of Dream, Sapnap, and George, back off,” he read aloud before laughing a bit. His brown eyes glanced over your ears and tail before nodding slowly. “Didn’t know they had a guard dog,” he mocked you. “Wilbur,” someone shouted causing him to jump. There was Dream himself with an arrow pointed at Wilbur’s heart. “Step away,” he warned. Wilbur just smiled holding both hands up in defeat. You quickly scampered to Dream’s side.
You were completely loyal to him. You were too far deep into the manipulation to realize you were stuck in his sticky webs. And Dream just kept giving gifts to you. First the collar, then flower, snacks, toys, jewelry, if you named it, it was yours. You had been through it all with Dream and the others but when it came to moments like right now you couldn’t quite recall why you stayed. Dream had taken two discs that were vital to Tommy of L’manberg. You followed him through his secret base.
“Dream he’s just a kid,” you pleaded.
Dream just shook his head getting tired of your whining. “They are the enemy,” he pointed out. “Yeah but there are other things you could do other than threatening their lives over 2 measly discs,” You tried again. Dream stopped walking and turned around, you faltered in your steps. “I think you need a reminder of who the ‘alpha’ is around here,” he said, finger quoting at you.
You stared at him confused, suddenly the blonde looked more menacing than before. “D-dream?” You stuttered. The next few seconds were a blur. Dream had snapped your wrists into a handcuff behind her and a muzzle on your face. “Dream,” you cried out after the retreating blonde. Tears had started streaming down your cheeks, the muzzle making it hard to speak. “Dream please! What did I do? Dream!” You yelled struggling. Your voice just echoed in the darkness reminding you that you were all alone. It was hours before he returned to your shivering form. Your tail tucked between her legs, you felt pathetic. Dream undid the muzzle.
“Remember,” he gripped your jaw harshly forcing you to look at him.
“What I say goes,” you just nodded furiously, pressing your head against his thigh. A gentle hand reached down and ran his fingers through your hair, petting softly. Sapnap was the first to notice the difference. You no longer wanted to play, you were always on Dream’s beck and call. Sit, stay, quiet. Every command followed without hesitation. And to say Sapnap was worried was an understatement.
Eventually, Dream one day grew bored of you. He reached over and unclasped the collar, dropping it into the dirt.
“D-dream?”
“I don’t need you. Never fucking did,” he said walking away leaving you in the chilly winter afternoon.
You were frozen staring at the collar on the ground. It felt as if someone had taken a bullet to your heart. Had you done something wrong? You thought you had done a good job. The cold wind made it feel like you were standing there for days. Someone bent down picked up the collar.
“Homeless now sweetcheeks?”
Slowly your eyes drifted up to an unfamiliar ram hybrid. Your tail laid limp behind you. He puffed out some smoke from his cigar as he studied the collar. “Come with me sweetheart,” he smirked tossing it over his shoulder. He tapped some ash off of his cigar.
“I’ll make sure you’re taken care of,” You numbly let the hybrid lead you to an unfamiliar place. “I’ll make sure you have a warm bed sugartits, for a small price of course,"

Insomniac Reviews: The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Tumblr media
First of all, I want to say this probably one of the most beautiful books I now own. The cover is stunning!
Rating: 3/5 stars
Summary: A story of a Golem who is brought to the “New World” as a clay wife. And a Jinni who ends up there after his copper flask-prison is broken. Set in 1899 New York City it is a historical urban fantasy tale of two creatures who struggle with their humanity and place in a changed world. A book that incorporates folk mythology with a sprawling city and many characters. The Good: The setting itself was a delight! I have a special place in my heart for urban fantasy and seeing the different neighborhoods and lives woven together around the realities of a quiet kind of magic was quite interesting. The rooftop encounters were some of my favorite places because it just sounded so rich and vivid. This author obviously did her research and put some real life into the places the characters visited and interacted with. The characters also had flares that kept me going and invested. Chava in particular was a very compelling heroine and Ahmad made a good foil for her. Ahmad also had a deeply engaging character arc, but it tip-toed between making him utterly unlikable at points too-- and not in a fun way. The setting and magic of the story were probably the best parts. The Bad: I wondered if I was having trouble reading the book because of the literary bent of it, but when they were still just walking around the city about half-way through I knew there was a pacing problem. The story languished in the middle and lacked a fire in it’s step to keep the plot and characters moving. The main characters are constantly bored and wandering what to do with themselves-- and as a reader I felt the exact same way. Bored and unable to care about where this was going. There were some outlines of compelling characters, the author knew how to create a varied cast, but she didn’t know how to bring it home. She had the sparks of fantastic characters, but couldn’t bring them fully to life by delving deeper into them and their relationships with each other. I wanted more from almost all of the side characters instead of all these loose ends and feelings of unfulfillment with their depth. Like being offered a candy and finding it hollow. The biggest missed opportunity was hands-down Arbeely. I had a general sense the author had a better grasp of the character of the Jewish neighborhood than Little Syria. However Arbeely in particular felt like a huge gap. This was the Jinni’s partner and could have been the thing that spiced up the story and pushed it over the top! Instead, Arbeely feels like a dull place-holder for where a more compelling character could be. Not all characters need to be in your face and bursting with “life,” but they have to at least feel rich with something else. Arbeely wants for very little and is content, which is a foil to Ahmad’s discontent, but they never truly connect, reconcile or interact in an interesting way. What a missed opportunity!
The Ugly: Finally, I noticed this ongoing trend of female sexual desire being met with horrible ends. I mean, this isn’t a new trope in books by any means but I was hoping a modern book wouldn’t lean into it so much. Sophia wants to sleep with Ahmad and gets a horrible chill after they spend a night together making her tremble and be cold all the time. Fadwa loses her senses and dies horribly after feeling desire for the Jinni and having him enter her dreams. Anna ends up pregnant and suffering without any happy ending in sight by the end of the book. Only Chava, good and chaste, has a decent life after that with no horrible repercussions. I have a feeling the author meant something else by all this and was trying to make some other point, but it just read like a tired and boring moralizing Victorian novel. Overall, this was a story with a great premise but disappointing execution of the characters and pacing.

Book recommendation: Girls of Paper and Fire. I finished book one, soon to start book 2. It’s a phenomenal book with a POC main cast (the majority of the characters are coded to be Eastern Asian, with some Southern Asian influence as well) as well as LGBT characters and great fantasy elements. I will say, it deals with some darker subjects like sexual assault and classism, but it’s done well!
@basada-en-la-esperanza
Have you read Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho? It’s a book for those of us who wanted to read Jonathan Strange but couldn’t spend 500 pages caring about exclusively Cis White Men. And the companion/sequel, The True Queen, has a scene with the inner thoughts of a Muslim girl, while her well-meaning white Englishwoman host tries to serve her guest pork, that made me feel so seen! (I’m not Muslim, but I’m Jewish.) They’re both wonderful books, I highly recommend them! (Also The Golem and the Jinni is my favorite Jewish book I’ve read in forever.)
@hacash
for book recs, i CANNOT recommend the Daevabad trilogy (City of Brass, Kingdom of Copper, and a third book hopefully imminent) enough. It’s a fabulous fantasy series set in an alternative 18th century Middle East - as a white reader who’s read probably every iteration of the European mythology stories, it was so fun to find a really well-written, in-depth world centred around Middle Eastern and Islamic folklore!
@akcipitrokuloI would recommend Daughters Of Nri by Reni K. Amayo… but I read it after it was recommended here, so just a thank you for introducing me to awesome book which I also bought for my SIL.
@profoundlygaywriterI started Stars and the Blackness Between Them earlier in the school year but never finished it because I was so swamped. What I did get through was pretty good, so maybe give that one a look
@wisteriaprincess
It is not a book, but a manga I would like to recommend, the name is Otoyomegatari (A Bride’s story) and is about the stories of different women from Central Asia. I know it is not a book, but it is the first time I saw positive representation of Muslim people (I’m not Muslim, though, so I can’t really say, but I read a post from a Muslim person and he was very happy and saw it through positive eyes).

What Could Have Been #3 - The Scrapped Alchemist Story; or, who are Minbare and Sherit, anyway?
A few weeks ago, we published a story titled Stranded at Memory’s End, in which Marksmanship, Tracker, and Bibliophile found themselves in a realm made up of people and things that have ceased to exist. Among them were a few things that even the most savvy Cupid reader probably didn’t recognize - including two mysterious nobles known as Lord Herry Minbare and Countess Anmida Sherit, and a strange, flying beast with both fur and feathers. So, where did these most extraordinary characters originate from? Why, a scrapped draft, of course!
The story below, penned by Lupan Evezan, was abandoned midway through production - and now we’ve posted it here, for your reading pleasure (hopefully)!
Lord Herry Minbare was locked in a fierce battle of wills with the Countess Anmida Sherit.
Both had a claim to the Empire. They were cousins, the late Empress Regnant had been their grandmother. As no intermediate relatives still lived, and the two nobles were fairly equal in station (titles held no real meaning among the nobility anymore), they both had about equal claim to the post of Emperor or Empress of the Northern Isles. The official governing body of advisors was more or less a sham, a ploy to make it seem as though all decisions were not made solely by the ruling official (which they were), and so there was no real way to decide which of the two would rule.
But one thing was certain: they would have to work it out quickly, before one of the other nobles decided that they had ought to claim the position themself.
Countess Sherit had invited Lord Minbare to dinner at one of her estates, supposedly for the purpose of working out the issue once and for all. Minbare suspected an assassination plot, and had brought no less than thirty of his own soldiers, who were now posted around the large hall. He had also brought his own meal, which he ate instead of the food Sherit had provided. This, she felt, was the height of all rudeness.
"Listen, Minbare." The Countess began nonchalantly. "We have to settle this somehow. You know how eager Earl Rabare is to snatch the position. Why, with his army, he could have it done already - he's trying to follow the old customs, I suppose, but it won't last long."
"No, I don't suppose it will." Minbare took a bite of the poultry he had brought with him.
Sherit glared.
"Then what do you propose we do?"
Minbare simply shrugged.
Infuriating. Absolutely infuriating.
"We could... turn it into a duarchy?" Sherit suggested. "Rule together?"
Sherit absolutely did not want to share power with her halfwit cousin, but she also didn't want to have to settle this by violence, if it could be helped.
"No, I don't think that'll work for me." Minbare took another bite of the poultry.
"Enough!"
Sherit knocked the bird out of his hand and stood up.
"If you're not going to settle this in a civil manner, then I have no choice but to best you in a duel."
"Ha! Best me? Hardly likely!" Minbare chuckled. "But, go ahead. Set the conditions. When will it be?"
"Now. Here."
"Here? Now? With what?"
"Poison."
Sherit produced a small, clear vial containing a sickly greenish liquid.
"Venom of the Naddersnatch."
"How, exactly, do you duel with, er, poison? Going to throw it at each other?
"No. A servant is going to poison one of these." Sherit held up two biscuits. "Neither of us will know which. We'll each choose one. Whoever eats the poisoned one will die. The other rules. More of a battle of luck than of skill."
"Ha! As if I'd agree to that. Of course you'll know which is poisoned beforehand."
Well, that wasn't quite the plan. She would know, but this wasn't Naddersnatch venom at all - just a dormaficient, an elixir to induce sleep, made from one of the common weeds which grew in the woods that made up much of her lands. Minbare would eat the biscuit, lose consciousness, and a servant would transport him to some far away place from which he could not return. The empire would believe that he was dead, and Sherit could take the throne. It wasn't a great plan (and it was in fact her secondary plan, after Minbare foiled her first plot to slip the stuff into his food by bringing his own), but it was the best she had at the moment. She couldn't try anything sneakier, with Minbare's army occupying the place.
"Oh, come now, I'm more honorable than that!" she protested.
"You are not! Don't you remember the time you pushed me into the Great Lake so you could win the royal games?"
"When we were children, Herry? Really? Can you hold a grudge that long?"
"I nearly died! Anyway, I'm not eating your poisoned biscuit, and we're obviously not going to settle this tonight! Farewell!"
Minbare stood and walked swiftly to the nearest exit into the vestibule.
Sherit pulled a sword from the wall.
"Fine! Then we'll duel the traditional way. Draw your weapon!"
Minbare chuckled.
"Very well."
He drew his own sword.
"To first blood?"
"To death."
The two nobles crossed their swords, signalling the official commencement of the duel.
Suddenly, a blinding flash filled the hall, and a cloud appeared just above the table.
Minbare and Sherit looked up, bewildered.
A copper head peered over from the top of the cloud. A winged creature leapt down.
It was a strange being, formed of metal in the image of a cherub - although real cherubs were far more terrifying than this. It reminded Sherit of the golems employed by some of of the old wizards of repute.
"What are you, creature?" Sherit inquired.
"A sign from the gods?" Minbare suggested.
"Er, hello. I'm from the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids. I'm supposed to romanticise someone around here...."
The creature turned its head from side to side.
It spotted a sad looking maidservant standing at wait in a corner.
"Ah-ha! You!"
The creature produced a bow. It nocked an arrow. It drew the bow and fired at the girl.
The arrow hit her. It was obviously an enchanted arrow, judging by the fact that she did not die. Instead, she smiled.
"Why, I feel good! Very good! In fact, I think I shall go out into the world and sing!"
The girl rushed out the nearest door, singing.
The nobles blinked, unsure of what was happening.
"Right! That's done!"
The creature turned and seemed poised to fly back up to the cloud.
"Wait, wait!"
The being turned.
"What are you? Where did you come from?" Minbare asked, inspecting the cloud. It was a ship, he realized, cleverly disguised.
"I'm a Clockwork Cherub! You know, a robot! I'm from the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids - we travel the Multiverse, you know, and romanticise people!"
"Multiverse?" Minbare inquired.
"Yes - all of the dimensions and universes and realms and such that make up... well, everything, more or less!"
"You mean to say that there really are other universes?" There were legends, of course, but even the wisest wizards surely believed that they were only that.
"Sure! I've got to be going - nice meeting you!"
The Clockwork Cherub leapt back up to the cloud, which vanished.
The nobles stared for a moment.
Then Lord Minbare turned and ran into the vestibule and out of the estate.

With a sputtering pop, a Fog Ship materialized in the Void. The pilot of the ship managed to steer it into the parking lot of the Interdimensional Tavern and leap out. The ship was in a terrible state of disrepair.
But it hadn't been, moments before. What could have gone wrong?
The Cupid who had been piloting the ship opened a hatch in the front and gazed in at the inner workings of the ship. The dematerialisation circuit was there - but the dimensional warp drive was entirely missing. Without it, the Ship could leave one dimension, but not quite warp into another. The two bits were meant to work in tandem - the ship was useless without one.
"But where could - ?"
Suddenly the Cupid remembered that rather nosy gent who had been poking around the ship.
Blast. The Parliament won't like this.
Well, there were bigger problems at hand. The Cupid needed to get out of the Void, somehow.
First, though, he decided to pop in to the Tavern and have a drink.

Deep beneath the Minbare Palace was a twisting maze of catacombs, at the very center of which was located a laboratory.
Not a Prime Earth sort of scientific research laboratory. Nor a mad scientist type of laboratory (although it was closer to that).
No, this was more of an alchemist's laboratory. Perhaps a wizard's laboratory. A laboratory of dark magic.
The laboratory belonged to Lord Herry Minbare, and he was there now.
Minbare was an alchemist, although no one knew it. It was his secret. It was the secret of the Minbare family, passed down from antiquity, along with this laboratory.
"Other universes - it really is true! All of my research was not in vain!"
Minbare produced a bit of circuitry from his coat.
"And this! This is the missing piece! This is what I need to complete my device!"
Minbare thought a moment.
"Well, I hope it is."
The lord strode to the center of the laboratory, where an intimidating creation towered over everything. It was carved from materials Minbare had researched extensively and determined to be conducive to opening a dimensional rift - the topic he had been researching ever since he first heard, from a wizard to whom he had apprenticed in his younger years, that there may really be other universes out there. And now, proof!
Minbare set the thing he had stolen into his device and turned on a low electrical current beneath the monolith. The circuitry began to spark and then hum. The entire creation followed suit, buzzing and humming intensely. A flicker appeared in the area in space directly above the device. It flickered and began to warp, until it finally tore through the fabric of reality and became a rift.
"Yes! Yes!" Minbare began to cackle like a villain in a Prime Earth cartoon show, not that he knew what that was.
His fit of laughing was interrupted by the sudden appearance of a strange, twisted creature with a tooth-filled beak, glaring eyes, and horns. It was covered with strange mix of fur and feathers, and had claws and talons.
"Er, master?" the beast snarled. "Your evening tea, master?"
Minbare glanced over.
"No, no! I'm in the middle of something! Go away!"
The creature bowed and retreated.
Minbare had created the beast, along with others like it. They had been among his first creations, formed from the bones of animals and given life with an elixir he had brewed.
He called them the greckles.

Book Review... Helene Wecker, “The Golem and the Jinni”
Tumblr media
Rating: 4/5 stars
Reviewer Comments: This book was recommended to me when I expressed interested in reading more non-Western fantasy. Granted, it does take place in America, but the characters aren’t faux-medieval archetypes, so I was immediately invested in their stories. The book as a whole is more of a historical fiction novel than a fantasy one - the magic is understated, so it feels like magical realism rather than high fantasy, and Wecker spends a lot of time telling us about characters and their lives so that I felt connected to each on a human level (even ones I disliked). The things I didn’t like were minor, so I very much recommend this book to anyone interested in folklore or turn-of-the century immigrant stories.
***Full review under the cut.***
Summary: In The Golem and the Jinni, a chance meeting between mythical beings takes readers on a dazzling journey through cultures in turn-of-the-century New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a disgraced rabbi who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic and dies at sea on the voyage from Poland. Chava is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York harbor in 1899. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire born in the ancient Syrian desert, trapped in an old copper flask, and released in New York City, though still not entirely free. Ahmad and Chava become unlikely friends and soul mates with a mystical connection.
Genre: historical fiction/magical realism
Trigger Warnings: depictions of violence
Things I Liked
Understated Magic: Wecker doesn’t spend a lot of time building up lore or explaining how magic works. Instead, she connects the reader to mystical/mythical creatures on a human level, preferring instead to let the cultural attitudes towards golems and jinnis shine. How the golem works, for example, isn’t explained - instead, we’re just expected to accept that it does so that more focus is on whether or not she has a soul, or how she should exist in the world, etc.
Interweaving Stories: I really loved how the stories of the golem and the jinni echoes each other, bringing two marginalized cultures (in the US) into contact and creating beautiful, human stories. Wecker does a brilliant job crafting each story so that they parallel one another without repeating the same things outright.
Prose: Wecker’s prose seems effortless (in a good way!). It flows nicely without getting bogged down by worldbuilding, and is descriptive and sensually evocative without being overly lush. There’s something nice in its desciptiveness, too, which highlights the beauty in the ordinary lives of the characters while also prompting deeper questions about identity and friendship.
Characters: I felt like every character in this book was fully realized, even the side characters. I really enjoyed how they each had distinct personalities and faults, making them feel very human.
Things I Didn’t Like
Pace: More towards the beginning of the book, there were moments where the pace of the narrative seemed to slow down. These moments were very focused on the characters learning to live “normal” lives, so I understood the importance. But personally, I think more could have been done to pick up the pace a little bit.
Recommendations: I would recommend this book if you’re interested in
immigration stories, turn-of-the-century historical fiction
Jewish mysticism, golems
Arabic folklore, jinnis
themes pertaining to friendship, religion, identity

For the week of 17 September 2018
Quick Bits:
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 gives us an “untold tale” of Spider-Man shortly after Secret Wars while he still had the black costume from Saladin Ahmed, Gerry Brown, Lee Loughridge, and Joe Caramagna. It’s a nice bit of embellishment, giving us a look more at the reactions from the people around Peter and what the Venom symbiote was doing while he slept. The dark, moody art from Brown and Loughridge is perfect for this.

Tumblr media
Avengers #8 is a bit of a housekeeping issue from Jason Aaron, taking stock of what’s changed for this new incarnation of the team, putting together the status of the various members, and setting up the new status quo. It’s nice to see David Marquez and Justin Ponsor aboard for this arc, continuing the very high bar this volume is setting for art.

Black Hammer: Age of Doom #5 answers all of the questions, with Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston filling in all of the details in Lucy’s quest to find the missing heroes. It’s an interesting, and satisfying, revelation that sets up an even bigger picture and possible looming threat.

Bloodborne #5 begins a new arc, returning to the city, and focusing on a scientific and religious inquiry into the nature of the affliction besetting the world. Wonderful art from Piotr Kowalski and Brad Simpson.

Burnouts #1 isn’t a bad start from Dennis Culver, Geoffo, Dave Dwonch, and Lauren Perry, riffing on the teen alien invasion vibe of things like The Faculty. The premise of needing to be high or otherwise intoxicated to see the true threat is an interesting one, leaving an obvious out as to whether or not it’s real, but this issue largely takes it at face value.

Captain America Annual #1 is very well done. Tini Howard, Chris Sprouse, Ron Lim, Karl Story, Walden Wong, Scott Hanna, Jesus Aburtov, Erick Arciniega, Israel Silva, and Joe Caramagna give us a story set deep into World War 2 of Cap and Bucky behind German lines, helping a group of civilians who escaped from Stutthof.

Death or Glory #5 sets fire to Glory’s life quite literally. This entire series so far has been damned good, moving at a breakneck pace pushing the characters harder and further with each subsequent issue. Rick Remender, Bengal, and Rus Wooton continue to deliver.

Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive #1 is a curious thing, embracing the odd stylistic choices of Chester Gould’s characters with Rich Tommaso and Mike Allred’s art, and the kind of throwback tone of Lee & Mike Allred’s script, but through the use of a cellphone it doesn’t seem to be a period piece. Still, it’s an entertaining beginning to this mini.

Ether: The Copper Golems #5 is the bittersweet end to this mini, setting up a new problem for Boone and co. to face in the third series, but in doing so putting him in an even more tragic situation, both in the present and in the flashback back-up. Matt Kindt & David Rubín have bottled magic with this series and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

GI Joe: A Real American Hero - Silent Option #1 begins a new limited series following Bombstrike and her team’s investigation of the missing Helix. It’s a bit bloodier and more brutal than the mothership series, but given the subject of human trafficking, it’s kind of understandable. Larry Hama, Netho Diaz, Alisson Rodrigues, Jagdish Kumar, Vinicius Townsend, and Neil Uyetake put together a decent start here. There’s also a great back-up filling us in on Helix’s past from Ryan Ferrier & Kenneth Loh.

Hack/Slash: Resurrection #11 is the conclusion to the “Return to Haverhill” arc and it continues with the usual offbeat humour that Tini Howard has brought to the title. Mixing the horror with wacky hijinks.

Ice Cream Man #7 might be one of the more horrifying issues of the series, telling the tale of a young girl coming to terms with the death of her best friend. That story alone is enough to pick up the issue, but it also brings back more of the ongoing story of the Ice Cream Man’s trials as well, giving us a bit more interconnectivity of what are otherwise mostly standalone tales.

Immortal Hulk #6 sees Al Ewing working to put the disparate pieces of the run so far together, along with revealing at least one group of antagonists dogging Banner’s heels, and working Hulk back into the broader world of the Marvel Universe to deal with the ramifications that have been hovering since Civil War 2. Surprisingly, none of it is particularly confusing, which is a testament to how Ewing is laying this out. Also, really nice guest art from Lee Garbett (with colours from Paul Mounts).

Impossible Incorporated #1 is a new all ages mini from JM DeMatteis and Mike Cavallaro. I have fond memories of their previous collaboration The Life & Times of Savior 28, so came into this with some fairly high expectations. They were exceeded. The premise for this series taps into the same family of adventurers dynamic of the Fantastic Four and Challengers of the Unknown, and it yields some interesting characters, weird landscapes, and phenomenal art.

Infinity Wars: Soldier Supreme #1 is the first of these Infinity Warps tie-in minis to the overarching Infinity Wars saga, blending together two of Marvel’s heroes in this new reality. In this case, Captain America and Doctor Strange. I’m not sure how much impact these will ultimately have on the event, but it’s a fun diversion. Gerry Duggan, Adam Kubert, Matthew Wilson, and Clayton Cowles deliver an entertaining beginning to this story, laying out Stephen Rogers’ origin and showcasing a number of other amalgamated heroes and a rather interesting villain. Kubert and Wilson’s art is definitely more than worth the price of admission.

The Life of Captain Marvel #3 delivers more heartfelt and strange complications for Carol Danvers. I’m really enjoying the drama that Margaret Stohl is creating in this series, it’s really been injecting a real element of humanity in Carol that’s been missing for years.

Olivia Twist #1 is an updating of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, gender-bent and worked into the future, by Darin Strauss, Adam Dalva, Emma Vieceli, Lee Loughridge, and Sal Cipriano. The premise works quite well adapted to a dystopian future, with the protections of society broken down and oppression at an all time high. Although this is set in a future Britain, it’s easy to see similar conditions in America today. What really brings the book together is the artwork from Vieceli and Loughridge.

Patience! Conviction! Revenge! #1 is the beginning to what looks to be another beautiful sci-fi epic, starting out with a bit of a western feel, before moving on to the city. I quite like the voice that Patrick Kindlon gives to the protagonist, Renny, as he doesn’t seem to shut up. Also, the artwork from Marco Ferrari and Patrizia Comino is wonderful. Ferrari has a style that reminds me of Sean Gordon Murphy and Devmalya Pramanik and it perfectly suits a lived-in future.

Return of Wolverine #1 is not a terrible comic. In fact the artwork from Steve McNiven, Jay Leisten, and Laura Martin is very, very good. McNiven seems to be channelling Barry Windsor-Smith for the artwork and it’s perfect. The action and page compositions are wonderful. I can also say that the story, dialogue and such, from Charles Soule is not bad. I’m not sure if I like the implied idea of pulling Wolverine’s history from him, putting the memory genie back in the bottle when we already know his Origin, is a good idea, but his issues with Persephone and Soteira are at least interesting.
What ruins this comic, however, like the Hunt for Wolverine: Dead Ends issue, is that it renders the entire Hunt for Wolverine event superfluous. It doesn’t respect the readers’ time or money, showing that Hunt for Wolverine didn’t build to anything. There’s absolutely nothing in this comic that necessitates having read anything before it. That’s good for new readers, but it’s a crappy ploy from Marvel that manufactured an empty event that seems like its sole purpose was to bilk the customer. I feel terrible saying that, since for the most part the mini-series weren’t bad in isolation, but as a whole, it just seems like a marketing stunt. When it comes to a character like Wolverine, who has previously been associated with the idea of market oversaturation, it’s just worse.
From Marvel Legacy through to now, it doesn’t feel like there’s been any guiding hand. It doesn’t feel like there’s been any coherence between any of the appearances. It just feels like Marvel turning to some of their worst tendencies in making this past year or so a marketing ploy, tarnishing something that possibly could have been special, and ruining the return of Wolverine. Wolverine’s still dead, Marvel’s just pimping a corpse.

Seven to Eternity #11 checks in on Adam’s family at the farm while he’s hanging around with the Mud King. Like every issue, beautiful, stunning artwork from Jerome Opeña and Matt Hollingsworth, somehow outdoing themselves with the brilliant colour schemes and impressive character designs. Also, I love the biting, almost subtle, humour that Rick Remender employs for the Mud King’s dialogue.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #86 begins the Earth Protection Force’s assault on Burnow Island, the new home to the Triceratons and Utroms. The action depicted by a returning Dave Wachter (with colours by Ronda Pattison) is very nice, even as we get some interesting moral and ethical hemming and hawing from both the Turtles and Burnow’s defenders as they choose whether or not to release their war criminals to help fight against the EPF. This feels like the beginning of something very heavy.

Thor #5 resumes the King Thor story from the first issue, in the far-flung future, with a reunion between Thor and Logan. It’s not quite as bonkers a story from Jason Aaron as the opening Niffleheim arc, but it’s certainly up there. I almost get the impression that Aaron and Donny Cates are seeing how far they push the cosmic envelope at Marvel right now, between their respective series. In any event, it’s led to some great storytelling. Especially when you add guest artist Christian Ward, who just makes this a must buy.

Venom #6 is a not-so-subtle reminder that the art team of Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and Clayton Cowles are absolute beasts. Every issue of this series has been impeccably crafted so far and I swear that this one ups the ante. Gorgeous work from the team.

West Coast Avengers #2 is more ridiculous fun. If you liked the first issue, this is more of that, with some even more over-the-top shenanigans with the team, as they try to get to the bottom of BRODOK. Kelly Thompson’s dialogue and humour here are a highlight, reminding me of some of best of Keith Giffen and JM DeMatteis’ work on the bwahaha era of the Justice League. A book that doesn’t take itself too seriously is a nice balm these days. Also, gorgeous artwork again from Stefano Caselli and Tríona Farrell.

Sorry to everyone that has been liking my Glare/Allay/Copper Golem!Reader stories and has been waiting for Part 3 (which was in the works) but due to Technoblade’s recent passing being made aware and it rocking all our collective shits, I'm taking a break for writing for him.
Once I feel emotionally stable enough, I'll wrap up Part 3 and have it posted. I'm sorry if anyone finds this inconvenient or thinks that I should stop writing for him permanently, but I'm of the opinion that we should not stop showing our love for him and I do want to make content for Technoblade, even if I emotionally can't right now.
I'm sorry again. Good luck to you all. Be safe out there. Have a meal/snack, get a drink, have a good cry, and take a nap. We're all gonna need it for the next while.
And everyone remember;
Technoblade Will Never Die.

Vampire Hunter Gilgamesh x Reader: Frozen Soul: Part 1
Frozen in a casket of ice, a young woman with a peaceful sleeping face, laid immobile as her lover looked her with dead eyes and gritted his teeth. Arba smiles and he turned to her. "I kill Solomon, and you will free her!" He yelled furiously at and grabbed his gun and left the dark labyrinth that he detested. Arba smiled and turned back to the frozen young woman. "Oh my, dear, looks like your precious lover is about to commit a sin." She cackled and disappears. The sleeping frozen young woman mind, was remembering the days when she first met the half god half vampire hunter. He was a cold man, and she was a normal human being but the blood of fae ran in her veins. At the young age of nine, she met the man. His name was Gilgamesh. A vampire bounty hunter who killed not just vampires but any supernatural creature who had a great bounty on their heads. No matter if they were innocent or committed a crime. A cold hardened hunter that took the lives of millions. But he also had human blood running through his veins, which he would deny immediately. He saw humans below him. He had the power of the gods and the power of darkness, and controlled it at his will. When he met his lover, he was was 118 years old, a teenger in human years, but truth to be told, he was already a full grown adult. And she, a young normal village girl who had the sight to see the supernatural world. She was a mage who saved lives and created new ones. While he was one that took lives.
- 1950: (Y/n) Age 9 -
The little girl hummed happily as she walked through the woods, accompanied by fae and baby dragons, who loved her and she loved them. You were considered the odd one out. One, both your parent's were off to war. Your mother was a nurse and father a soldier. It was strange not begin with your parents but.....you lived with your grandmother. She was what you call an alchemist. Turning her own physical energy to use magic to create alchemy. But she was a mage also, also, one of the world's last witches, a Artificer. You loved watching her work and you would read through her books on alchemy and magic. "That's right!" You suddenly said as a fae that looked like a lamb with dragonfly wings landed on your shoulder, "Grandmother needed some emeralds from the crystal lake." You said and began to take a different rode from the woods. You hummed happily and walked until you stopped. Your eyes slowly widened at the scene in front of of you. A man with blonde hair, a black jacket, red slit eyes, and blood on his hands and face, as he looked down at the dead body of some creature. You stood frozen and the fae ran. The man slowly turned his eyes towards you. "Mongrel......." he spoke lowly and began to walk towards you, till he was right in front of you, "how much did you see?" He said. You stayed silent then spoke. "Mongrel? What is that? Are you a fae? I never seen your kind before. Any chance are you the ones that can turn to humans? Grandmother always told me about those. I believe they are called shapeshifters?" You question as she placed your finger on your chin and thought. The man burst out laughing at you and then spoke. "Alright then human, who are you affiliated to?" He said. "Affiliated to? Goodness no. Only one I am affiliated to is my grandmother. She's a mage but had been quite busy cause the war." You said and grin. The man raised an eyebrow then caught a whiff of your scent. He frowns. "So you're that hags granddaughter...." He said and sighs. You tilted your head and just shrug to leave but he follows you. "I have business with your grandmother." He bluntly said because he saw the way you were looking at him. You shrug your shoulders and both of you left the woods.
--
Your grandmother jaw hanged as she saw the man behind you and walked over to you two. "It's been awhile peasant. I see age has caught up to you." The man smirked and your grandmother scolded. She took her walking stick and began whacking him like a pinata. "You son of bitch! How dare you show your face here after so many years you temeaning blunt?!" She then used the end of her stick and began poking him in the ribs with it. "Cut it out!! Ah! Ow!! Stop it!! Aahh!!" The man screeched as she kept hitting him and he was trying to defend himself. You couldn't help but giggle at the scene until your eyes went wide when you saw the man lying on his face, with bumps all over his head. "Hmph!!! I ought to feed you to the dragons and have them dance on your bones blasted bastard!" She yells and spat on him. The man groans and began to his and fight back like a cat when your grandmother grabbed him by the back of his jacket and began to drag him inside to the garage. You burst out laughing and followed behind them.
- A few minutes later -
"I swear that man!! I will make him suffer for disappearing after all these Years!" You grandmother grumbled as she brought down a hammer on the metal she was forging to a sword. Both you turn when you hear the garage door open as see the man from before. He now cleaned of blood and wore a long sleeve white button up shirt with some black pants and black shoes. "My son and laws clothing fit you perfectly. Be grateful. I threw away your other clothing and burned them to ashes." Your grandmother mother said. "What?!" He said shocked. "Why so shock? Don't worry about it. I have a new set made for you and will endure more. That will go on your bill." She said and he immediately groans. "So...." she stuck out her hand at him, "pay up." She smirked. "Why you damn wench...." he grumbled under his breath and stormed to the table behind her and opens a golden portal, and gold, silver, copper and many other treasures poured onto the table till there was a pile as tall as you. "This is 80 years worth of money. Happy you hag?" He said and earned him a whack on his back, which you could have sworn you heard a "crack!" She nodded and he summons a sword and placed it on the table. You sat on a chair looked at it. "Looks quite beaten." You you said. "Whatever." He said. "(Y/n), the mangy bastard is the legendary and most respected but feared vampire hunter in all of America, Gilgamesh. Most feared my ass. Stupid bastard can't even properly take care of my father's most proudest craftsmanship!" She huffed and the man now known as Gilgamesh rolled his eyes. "Sasara, shut up and fix it." He said. "I damn well I'm fixing it! Look at the poor thing! Did you fight a golem or something?!" She yells and he opened his mouth but she shut him up. She sighs and picked it up. "You've been through many battles mate. I'm glad to see it still has a pulse. I have all he materials to reforge it, but one." Sasara said and he nodded. He opens another gold portal and takes out a gold chest and opens it. "These god hearts will work better than a fae tears." He Said and her eyes were wide. "Where did get these?" She said in shock. "A few fallen gods had bounty on their heads. Saved their hearts. This is enough?" He said. "This more than enough Gilgamesh. I will forge you the strongest sword. And dragon tears, it will be unbreakable." She smiles. "How long will it take?" He said. "1 month boy." She said and he frowns, "Now now. Cheer up mate. These swords take time. Until then, you may stay here and use the guest room. (Y/n) dear, can you cook dinner today?" She said and you nodded excitedly. You jumped off your chair and took his hand, which shocked him and drag him to the kitchen with you. "Come Come!! I'll make you a meal you'll die for!" You grin. He wasn't happy that a child was cooking but how wrong he was. He watched you cook and he was surprised that you could cook. You served him rice and chicken curry with what your grandmother toold you to bring out a bottle of wine and served your plate and her own. You took a spoon full of your curry and began eating as he did but quietly. "Do you like it?" You said. "This is decent mongrel. But I'll eat it." He scoffed and continues to eat. "Descent huh? Well, looks like I got to work harder." You said and continue to eat. He watched you curiously and shrugs and continues to eat.
During that month he stayed, Gilgamesh favorite thing to do was go sleep in a tree in the shade. You would always go up to him and ask him questions about his quest he has gone and monsters he has hunted. He would just ignore you once in awhile he would speak to you. As the days went by, he slowly opened up. It surprised your grandmother quite a bit but was glad as she continued to work on the sword.
"Here." Gilgamesh said one day and handed you a necklace.
You blinked. "Be grateful mongrel that I am giving you this gift." Gilgamesh said and you grin. "Thank you Gil!" You grin a dust of pink came on his cheeks. "May I sing for you? It's my gift to you." You said and he nodded. He sat down on the grass and you sat between them, which threw him off guard. You took a deep breath and began.
You gave me words of kindness You held me when I was lonely
Sad things happened But together we shared the joy of early spring
I searched for the words that I wanted to leave behind for someone far away before my time ended I simply repeated, “Thank you” I hope that’s the only thing that reaches your heart
May my heart soar far through the sky and convey my smile to you A warmth that feels like the last traces of the fading spring— If I can quietly leave just that inside of you I’ll smile for you
You smile at him and he smiles warmly back to you.
- 10 years later: (Y/n) Age 19 -
"Alright. That's 300 pounds." You said as you handed the Elias a new wand. "Thank you (Y/n). I hope with is, I'll be able to help Chise." He said and you nodded. "You and her are living in a marble reality where time doesn't flow, correct?" You asked and he nodded. "Right. 100 years here is 10 years in there. Arba is hunting alchemist and mages down. Be careful." He said and disappears in his portal of black thrones. You sigh and walked over to a picture of your deceased parents and grandmother. It's been ten years since you last saw the vampire hunter and you've grown to a fine young woman. You inherited your family's home and your grandmother's workshop. You have grown to a master Artificer and have many people come and buy your works. "Mama, is the stone blade done?" A young boy with blue eyes and blue hair said as he picked up some rubies. "Now now Farance. I told you to wait. Welding silver and crimson copper is not easy." You chuckled as you removed your gloves and placed them on the table. Farance is a chanling. He is a fairy raised by human, which means you. You took the boy in 5 years ago. His parents passed away and decided to raise him. Your grandmother was sceptical at first but let you. "Wish great grandma were here. She would yelling at me for accidentally mixing the sage with dandelions...." he shivered. You giggled and ruffled his hair. "No need to worry mate. Grandmother would give me a yelling also." You said and hear the door to your shop open. "How can I------!!!" You froze on the spot when you saw the person that came in. "Well. It seems you finally grew mongrel. It's been ten years, hasn't it?" The person said with a cocky smirk. "Mother what-------?! Who the hell are you? You reek of death." Farance growled and his hair turned green. You snapped out of it and your face turned to anger and you grabbed your grandmother's walking stick and swung at him. ""You son of bitch! How dare you show your face here after so many years you temeaning blunt?!" You yelled then used the end of her stick and began poking him in the ribs with it. "Cut it out!! Ah! Ow!! Stop it!! Aahh!!" Gilgamesh screeched as you kept hitting him and he was trying to defend himself. Farance gawked at the scene and then you punched Gilgamesh in the stomach the stomach, which he fell to his knees and whimpers. You huffed then hugged him. "Welcome home." You cried which he stiffened but nervously hugged back.
- A Few Minutes Later -
You served Gilgamesh tea as he sat on the couch. Farance kept nervously eyeing the sniper gun that was placed on the wall along with his small bag of belongings. "It's been so long. How have you been?" You asked as you say down across from him and your son next to you. Gilgamesh scoffed and crossed his arms. "Looks like the Elder's increased the price on Arba's head. But guess you can say I met some people along the way." He said as he took a sip of the tea and grimace. He summons a bottle of wine and serves himself. You scolded and just shake your head. "Who's the brat?" He motions to Farance, which made the boy hug you. You chuckled and ruffle his hair. "This is Farance. My son." You smile.
PFFFFTTTTT!!!!!!
Gilgamesh spit out his wine in shock and began choking on it. You watched with a blank face. "Cough, cough!! You're married?!" He barely managed to say and you summon a glass of water and handed it to him, which he gladly took. "No. I took in Farance. His parents passed away." You said. "I see...." he said and wiped his lips, "and the old hag?" He asked and your eyes sadden. "Grandmother......passed away three years ago....and my parents....during the war." You said and his eyes were wide. "I'm sorry...." he said and you shook your head. "It's alright. They are at a better place. Now changing the subject, you get cleaned up. You stink." You said as you punched your nose. He glared at you and left to get washed, grumbling curses. But his eyes traveled up and down your body then to your necklace. Honestly he was surprised you still habe it. After all...that necklace is his way of showing others that you belong to him.
- Night -
Farance was finally asleep in his room and you were tried. You knew Gilgamesh was going to stay awake (damn vampires and their night abilities) and would proudly you and have some fun. You on the other hand were going to sleep. You took a shower and shivered. You felt like you were being watched. You ignored the feeling and dried yourself and went to sleep. You turned off the lights and closed your eyes. A few minutes later, sleep was finally coming to to you until you felt the bed sink in again. It was probably Farance again and you ignored it until you felt the right and left side of your bed sink and your eyes snapped open. Red slit smirking eyes met your own. "I see you finally noticed." Gilgamesh smirked down at you. "Gil, what's the meaning of this?" You managed to say. He smirked and you then felt fangs sinking into your neck. Your pupils shrunk and you gripped his shoulder tightly. But.....your eyes sadden and you placed your hand at the back of his head and let him drink.
"Gilgamesh refuses to drink human blood. Even if he needs it." Your grandmother said to you as you were sewing. Gilgamesh was in his room, sleeping. "Why won't he drink it?" You said curiously. Sasara smiles sadly. "Years ago, Gilgamesh caused a huge massacre of humans. He killed them and drank them dry but it was not his fault. He did it against his will. He was captured by the witch of hell she used madness enhancement on him, making lose his humanity, even if just for a moment. Since that day, he refuses to drink human blood and has been traumatized. But...." she said recalling his words.
"I will only drink the blood of one person, that will be the woman I chose to make my mate."
And as the years went by, you, yearning to see him again, you yourself realize you have fallen in love with him.
You felt light headed and felt him hug your body closer to his. He removed his fangs and slammed his lips onto yours. You kissed back and wrapped your arms around his neck. He smirked and through the rest of the night, was filled with pleasure, and screams and moans.
- The Next Day -
The sun was up and you felt your body sore, but worse, you couldn't feel your legs. You felt aems draped around you, and you smile warmly and turn to face him. He was awake and cupped your cheek. "Awake little slayer?" You giggled and he scoffed at your joke. "Yet I had you screaming my name." He retorted back and you flushed red. He chuckled and nuzzled his face into your chest. You chuckled and both of you dozed back to sleep.
- A Few Months Later -
An arrow struck the center of the target. Farance grinned proudly as he turned to Gilgamesh, who hummed amused. The two were in the woods, training. Gilgamesh decided to make Farance is apprentice. "Better then last week." He said and Farance pouted. "Hey.....do you truly love mother...?" Farance said and Gilgamesh sighs and looked up to the sky. "More than anything. You be surprised. There were days where I question if I should even be alive. But your mother kept coming back into my mind. Guess she saves me." He smiles and Farance nodded.
With you.....
You squealed excitedly as a you saw the crystal in your hand turn yellow. You were pregnant!! "Oh joy oh joy!!! I can't wait to yell Gilgamesh!!" You said excitedly and twirled around. You hear the door to your shop open and ran to see who it was. "Welc----!!!" You froze when a woman in a black cloak grinned and black shadow arms were behind her.
"I finally found you Artificer."
- 65 years later -
A young man with long blue hair, blue eyes and wore a blue suite with a ribbon, looked with sad eyes at Gilgamesh, as both looked down to a mansion, were King Solomon resided.
"You will be marked with treason if you this Father....." the young man said as he saw Gilgamesh take out his sniper gun and load it. "I will save (Y/n), no matter the cause," Gilgamesh said coldly. The young man sighs and looked down and eyes went wide. He saw King Solomon helping his son study and next to him, was his wife? Who was also helping his wife. The three looked like family. "Farance. Go to your position." Gilgamesh said and left to go to his. "We shouldn't be doing this!" Farance said and Gilgamesh stopped, his back facing the boy. "(Y/n) would never want this!! Reconsider!" He said. Gilgamesh gritted his teeth and glared at him. "Enough! Just go!" Gilgamesh said furiously and left.
In the cave were you were, you never aged, you never grew, neither did the child that resides within you. Even frozen in ice, you managed, even if for a moment, to ask for help.
"Please....someone....save him...."
--
"Gasp!" Sheba suddenly gasped as she heard a voice. "Mom, what's wrong?" Aladdin said. Sheba looked around then noticed a red dot on Solomon's chest.
BAM!
Solomon's and Aladdin's eyes went wide when blood suddenly spattered on their faces and she smiled weakly as she landed on top of Solomon. "SHEBA/MOM!!!" Solomon and Aladdin screamed as they saw the wound on your right shoulder. Fury filled Solomon and glared murderously out the window. "Shit." Gilgamesh cursed and summon his sword and crashed through the window. He smirked and pointed his sword at the king.
"Sorry King Solomon, but I'm here for your head."
