14. Is there a character or ship you were so sure you would never write/draw but now you've changed your mind?

so I'm interpreting this as "a ship with Leia" - and yes, I never thought I'd be interested in any content centering a relationship between the characters of my OTPs with other people, much less writing it myself... but I do have two Leia/Evaan fics now 😅

17. What's a book, movie, or show you think Leia would like?

Even though I haven't read them yet, I think she'd like The Hunger Games, thematically, or a similar series - a girl standing up to an oppressive regime while she's a girl living under an oppressive regime. I also think she'd enjoy shows like Ms. America and Parks and Recreation.

25. What's your least favourite thing Han said or did?

oh, my rough-edged babyboy. teasing Leia in the medbay about her feelings wasn't his finest moment... but he'd just spent the night freezing his ass off.

Year-End Fic Recs 2022 - part 4

Every year, my fellow fanfic writers blow me away with their talent, their creativity, and their heart. I’m compiling a list to share a few of the fics I read (or reread) this year and would recommend -- by no means an exhaustive list of the many talented writers and wonderful stories out there, and not exclusively stories that came out or updated this year, but a place to start. Because I have a lot to say, I’ll be sharing these in multiple posts. This is my fourth and final post of recs for this year.

2022 Fic Recs Part 4: Oh, Did You Think We Were Done With Sexytimes?

There was an embarrassment of riches in the HanLeia hotness department this year -- while some of my other recs included some excellent intimate scenes, I couldn’t help recommending some additional fics that I found incredibly sexy. Adults only, for certain.

Bound by @corellianangel: A very hot interlude on the way to Bespin, with a bit of Leia dominating Han and inappropriate use of the Force (even if Leia doesn’t quite know that’s what she’s doing yet).

let me tell you a story by @soloorganaas: Han’s trying to help Leia relax, and Leia can’t quite get there -– so he tells her a hot story that takes her the rest of the way.

the bad habits are the hardest to break by xslytherclawx: I’m not usually a modern/Earth AU kind of person, but this little fic was great, with Han and Leia having some friends-with-benefits sex and Leia not quite ready to admit it’s more than a one-time thing, plus a little reference to bi-for-bi Han and Leia, and Han asking for Leia to do something for him...or more to the point, to him.

Lost together by @contrivedcoincidences6 / Spooky66: “When I kiss you, I want you to remember it the next day.” Han and Leia crash while on a mission, and have a sexy little interlude away from the Rebellion.

War of the Roses by kroland: Han and Leia go to a war-ravaged planet on a sensitive mission, and their mutual attraction blooms into a night together (and the beginning of more) as they work together to complete the mission and attempt to determine who their true allies are.

Slick by @madame-alexandra: I think my first reaction was just me with my mouth hanging open, but....yeah, wow. “Things get wet” is a bit of an understatement here. And yeah, Han, if you can figure out how you did that to Leia, could you let us know?

Trust by @inelegantprose: Oh my goddess, where do I start? This is fully intense smut (and you have to be logged into AO3 to read it) but incredibly sexy, emotional, and fully engaged with the characters at the same time. Leia discovers an old Corellian wedding night tradition, something she’s never done before...and she decides she might want to try it. Of course, there’s a bit of buildup needed to this particular act, which turns out to be just as hot as the supposed main event. I’m just going to start cursing now, frankly, because it’s some of the best and most intimate smut I’ve ever read.

(For the Ship It Ask Game)

I totally ship it!

1. What made you ship it?

Hmmm, good question? I think I wanted to know more about where Leia came from and how she was raised, and that led somehow to shipping Bail and Breha.

They're not my hardcore ship- the lay awake at night thinking about them ship- but that's mostly because I still don't know them THAT well and because they are, in the end, Leia's parents, so it feels just a teensy bit weird. That's not going to stop me, though.

But they are so GOOD together and they make me feel warm and fuzzy.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

I love how they manage to have such chemistry with such little "screen time" (even in comics etc) compared to other ships (Han/Leia). I love how a sly smile can convey so much between them. I love how they have nicknames for each other. I love how they each excel at what they do, and support each other. I love how they tease and make each other sharper. You just know they're better both as individuals and at their jobs for having the other one in their life. (And they were already pretty great on their own!)

Finally: I love that while they are such a great married couple, such a great power couple, and such great parents, you just get the sense that they also have fantastic sex.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I know they're a pretty popular option for poly ships, because they're very attractive and around a bunch of fandom favorites who deserve good things (Obi-Wan, Mon Mothma), but for me personally I love them to have each other just to themselves. To be their own little sacred unit, that expands to include their daughter.

But that's just my characterization/preference! This is in no way intended to hate on other people having fun with these characters in a different way, or to imply that there is a right way and a wrong way.

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

I really can't think of any directly, though I've written a lot of my experiences into my stories, like migraines and horses. The closest to anything real in my life would probably be Earth and Fire, as I have worked as a wrangler. I've never had to herd horses away from a fire, though!

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

Oh, boy. The angstiest idea I've had has not yet been written. Someday! Of those I have written, I think Rey's back story in The Haunting of Kenobi House is probably my darkest/most emotional storyline, although Blind Faith is pretty angsty, too. I just love to abuse Rey, I guess! LOL

MSR - Ship It

What made you ship it?

I started watching the x-files with my parents when I was a kid. It was post-original run, but my parents 1st and 2nd rewatches after the original air. Mulder and Scully physically look just like my parents. They had the same height difference and are the same age. That and also David and Gillian are incredibly beautiful people with intense chemistry on screen so it was really hard for me not to ship it.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I love how many possibilities there are about the ship. Thanks to the longevity of the show, there are so many opportunities to think of what ifs and fill in all the blanks.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I’m not sure if I know enough popular opinion to decide what is unpopular but I personally do not hate the season 8/9 abduction arc. I’m not a huge fan of Requiem and some of the other “classic” or popular MSR episodes. I actually kind of wish Mulder were in fewer episodes in the later seasons. I also did/do not like MSR post original run, (IWTB, s10,s11).

Scully/Skinner - Don’t Ship It

Why don’t you ship it?

I am MSR endgame. I will read scully/skinner fanfic but usually if it is eventual msr. I am put off by Skinner’s infatuation with Scully and don’t find it reciprocal. However, I could be convinced into post original run Scully/Skinner now that I’m thinking about it.

What would have made you like it?

We have to get rid of the power play issue here. Skinner is a Good Man and Dana Scully needs to break her bad habits. I would totally be down for Scully/Skinner if a. Mulder wasn't in the picture. B. scully didn’t work for the fbi and he did or vice versa. C. IF Dana scully/Sharron Skinner OR d. Maggie scully/Walter Skinner (sometimes)

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I do love Walter Skinner oh so very much. He and Scully could totally be happy together. He would be so good to her and scully needs some of that in her life.

The chamber is bathed in a reddish orange light that makes it look like hell is supposed to and Han thinks that’s fitting, because whether he lives or dies, this is hell already, leaving Chewie and Leia behind in the hands of Vader and his cronies, the likes of Fett and now Lando (Lando?), feeling like he should have known better, better than ever believing she would be safe with him, that his past wouldn’t catch up and take away one of the best things the galaxy has ever offered him.

1. are you named after anyone? my parents named me natasha bc I was supposed to be born at xmas (my mum’s christian) but I was as with all things late and born mid-january. however they still kept the name in the first of many many years of accommodating my inability to be on time

2. when was the last time you cried? literally this morning whilst i was angsting to my bestie on ft over not wanting to live in america but also not being quite ready to leave america (so nothing new, basically)

3. do you have kids? I have a fat, snappy spoiled cat and a whiny, smart spoiled cat. they are the bane of my life and i would die for them

4. do you use sarcasm a lot? I have never joked about anything in my life

5. what’s the first thing you notice about people? I have absolutely no ability to read facial expressions so I don’t notice things, I just disappear into a whirlwind of panic whilst I try to figure out the social situation. unless it’s a really hot girl where I just freeze mesmerized by their eyes or smile or something equally gay

6. what’s your eye colour? dark brown. looks a little murderous in the right light

7. scary movies or happy ending? I absolutely cannot watch scary movies I’ll have a breakdown. 90% of the movies i’ve watched in my life are disney/pixar/dreamworks

8. any special talents? I speak 5 languages

9. where were you born? an obnoxiously posh county in england which i’ve been trying to escape ever since

10. what are your hobbies? writing angst about gay mentally ill wizards. also crossfit, hiking, rock climbing and outdoorsy photography, bc i am a lesbian

12. what sports do you play/have you played? when i was a kid/teen i swam sort of competitively. and i was a cheerleader in university. it was during my comphet era but honestly i had a great time

Alas, alas, poor Yorick-- I am not done the Diana fic train. BUT we have reached AU fics... and that means I only have this post and at least another one. So, freedom is within my grasp.

“You flatter me, Agent Fowley,” Mulder said, shifting closer to his partner. “But Agent Scully and I are running late for a meetup with Danny. We��ll report our findings to Agent Spender as soon as possible.”

Diana nodded, and it was as though something in the shrewd way her thin lips upturned, Scully understood the other woman’s cool behavior. There had been a moment of confusion at first, but being locked in a conversational triangle with the exes gave her a sharp thrill.""

The End Mulder evades Diana's amorous attempts by pretending he is dating Scully. Scully, meanwhile, is shocked and a bit peeved; but comes around, helping him to flesh out a plan.

""Aren’t you going to let me in?” She pushes at his chest with a smile and he knows she wouldn’t accept a no anyway. He steps aside and his heart leaps into his throat.

“Mulder, who-”

“Agent Scully.” The two women speak at the same time, staring each other down. Mulder watches, swallows, and doesn’t know what to do.

“Rather early for a visit.” Diana is the first of them to find her voice. “But I see you’re leaving.” Scully touches the scarf that’s around her neck and he sees her face fall. She presses her lips together, swallowing what he’s sure are some colorful words. It breaks his heart to see her smile gone. He won’t hear her laughter again tonight.""

The Ghosts That Stole Christmas Diana drops by Mulder's. He leaves her and chases after Scully, who had booked it to her family's.

Making Progress

""No, Diana. That was all you.” Mulder’s voice picks up, is louder now over the fake laughter on the screen. “No, I did not. Not once.” If only Scully could hear Diana’s side of the conversation. Mulder is quiet, appears to listen. He sighs once, runs his hand over his face.

Arcadia Scully overhears Mulder laying down the law to Diana on the phone. (Sidenote: this might not be AU, but I missed the opportunity to put it in an earlier fic list. Whoops~.)

Gwendolyn's Fox Mulder Estrogen Brigade

""OK, Scully. But it wasn't exactly my proudest moment," Mulder began, deciding to get through it as quickly as possible. "Diana and I had been seeing each other for a while but I was just stumbling into the X-Files and all of a sudden, I guess I just wasn't as interested in the relationship as I had been. She wanted a commitment and even started talking about marriage.

"Well, I sort of freaked out about that. You may not know this about me, Scully, but I have a bit of a problem with intimacy, which Phoebe probably had a little something to do with." He stopped to gauge Scully's reaction; she only nodded sagely and arched her brow to indicate that he should continue.

"Anyway, she had to go out of the country for a few months on assignment, so instead of making a clean break with her like I should have, I said that during the time she was away we should take some time off, see other people. I was hoping that while she was gone she'd realize what a basket case I was and meet somebody else and dump me."

"But that didn't happen?"

"No. She kept calling and writing to me the whole time she was gone and when it got time for her to come back, I panicked. So..." he paused briefly, averting his eyes from his partner's intense gaze and bowing his head before continuing in a rush "I decided to tell her I'd married somebody else. I bought a ring and everything.""

Crackfic-esque-- Pre-FTF Mulder is bombarded by both of his exes as they team up to forcefully help him and Scully on a case. (I love this one to death. Hilarious and surprisingly wholesome?)

""Besides, I’m not really here for professional reasons, like I told you before. My motivations are more… personal.”

Scully catches the moan of pain that bubbles up from her gut before it can escape her mouth, clenches her teeth and finishes her drink. She feels like, maybe, throwing up. She feels like, maybe, turning tail and fleeing. She feels like, maybe, her and Mulder would never be left in peace.

“You wouldn’t happen to know a Special Agent Fox Mulder, would you?”

It's Valentine's Day post FTF; and Diana invites Mulder out. Scully sorts her wounded feelings, trying to distance herself from the hurt. When Mulder realizes she has no plans, he swaps to celebrate the day with her.

He turns on a module in her brain that activates abilities like his own; and when Diana swoops in to capture her-- claiming she's aiding and abetting the Conspirators hiding Gibson-- Mulder almost sides with his ex, unable to explain Scully's bizarre behavior. Almost.

""As the elevator doors opened up on the fourth floor of his building, she saw Agent Fowley stepping out of his apartment, her arms full of manila folders stamped with case numbers. She turned on her heels, saying some parting words to him before she began walking down the hall towards Scully. As Diana made eye contact with her, Scully wished she could have evaporated on the spot, but it never seemed to work out like that when you most wanted it to. So she settled for offering a small half-wave as they passed each other.

“Agent Scully,” Diana said haughtily, shaking out her long, dark hair a bit as she passed by. Scully opted to say nothing, marching straight to Mulder’s door but pausing as her fist hung in midair, ready to knock. Did she want to find out what Fowley was doing there?

AU-- TGTSC Scully ropes Mulder into going with her to family Christmas in San Diego. Diana crashes their good vibes by flying out, making out with an unwilling Mulder, and landing him in the hospital from a punch out. Thankfully, Charlie is there to iron out those crazy kids and their wild misunderstandings (while Bill turns from a raging bull into just.. baffled.)
