Looking at r/Deltarune to see what theories ppl have come up with based on That One Valentine and it’s soooooooo funny to me that every single post about it is the same. Actual quotes from the subreddit:

“How do we know this is gaster”

“Why else would it mention the letter being impossible to understand at the start”

“It doesn’t have the signature stilted tone gaster’s always had”

“It doesn’t read like gaster in English at all”

“I feel like the beginning narration, the all caps, and the style of writing clearly point to gaster”

“We have no real reason to think he’d talk this way… ever”

It’s back and forth with these general opinions, especially of ‘oh that’s not how he talks’ and I’m just sitting here like

1. When you are a scientist, you do not necessarily talk the same in academic contexts as you do in casual contexts. For the most part, I speak COMPLETELY differently from my papers I’ve written for school compared to when I’m flirting with my partner.

I wonder if there’s a part of Eurylochus that resents Polites

#because like #out of everyone in the crew that WE know of in epic Polites is the only one that Ody actually listens to and follows through #not saying Ody doesn’t listen to Eurylochus bc he does and E is the second hand man for a reason #but Eurylochus is definitely more prone to violence & doubt compared to Polites which is why Ody even considers P’s option of diplomacy mor #tbh i don’t think E even minded in the past bc P was literally the whole crew’s impulse control and moral compass (in the context of epic)#bc out of everyone P was the only one who still thought to approach the unknown with open arms #sure it’s naive especially in the world they live in #but also they can’t help but be drawn to the option bc above all humans crave connection through community rather than war #(but that’s my own opinion leaking out—this whole post is my opinion lol)#but then Polites dies and now all Eurylochus sees is the fact that Polites was WRONG & yet he watches as Ody continues to live by P’s code #he watches as Ody leaves them to ask a god for help (after Athena abandoned them)#he watches as their consequences of mercy come back to bite them in the form of Poseidon #he watches and i wonder #epic the musical #eurylochus #epic the musical eurylochus
