Good Omens Fic Rec: Man to Man and because thinking makes it so
Man to Man 61,517 words Crowley is the token twink in a corporate office, with a growing fascination with one of his colleagues. After a month of stewing in his horny stupor, he crosses paths with his dream man at an office party, striking up a conversation with the help of liquid courage. There is only one obstacle: based on his past history, the beautiful blond angel is presumed to be straight… or is he? because thinking makes it so 41,398 words It's supposed to be an exchange. An arrangement. Something to make them both feel better and less lonely. But Crowley's never had the brightest ideas.
Length: 61,517 words / 41,398 words
AO3 Rating: Explicit / Spice Level 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best for: After Dark, Human AU
Triggers: None
Read Man to Man here, fic by leukozyna

*Minor Spoilers* So, I don’t know how I feel about making this a double rec, but I feel like these deserve to be read together! Both fics take inspiration from the same Twitter thread and I am obsessed with how each took this prompt and made it their own. If you're going to read one, I really want you to read the other, so double post here we are! To briefly summarize, both start with Crowley (the self-appointed office twink) coming onto Aziraphale (the shy, self-conscious divorcee) at their office holiday party and starting a (super casual, totally won't lead into anything) sexual relationship.
Let's start with Man to Man. This Crowley has had a crush on Aziraphale for ages, and his proposition is a reckless slip of the tongue. I love Aziraphale's wit in this, his comebacks and jokes are so funny and perfectly capture his campy bitchiness. Their relationship is so realistic in a way that I swooned over. I love when sex isn't immediately magical and perfect. It's sloppy and not great at the start, but Aziraphale has a wonderful and patient teacher. This story really celebrates the slow domesticity of a new relationship. Finding out what each other likes and cares about, bringing them into your life, waking up together for the first time. It's all very lovely, but it's got quite a naughty side too! Their sex life is very steamy, and like I said, I loved the learning how to please each other aspect of it as well.
Now, because thinking makes it so, this one takes them down a slightly different road. Here, Aziraphale has a kid! He has an amicable relationship with his ex, and often has his son Adam. But what he misses is sex. Well, Crowley can certainly help in that aspect! This fic is the slightly more explicit one. Aziraphale is more sexually skilled in this fic, but he is still has a lot to learn about the pleasure of having gay sex. Especially when you've never stopped to consider your own sexuality. This one has some excellent plot points with Crowley being introduced to Adam, and how you can imagine them becoming a little family together. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for single dad stories. This one also gives us a little more angst with their relationship, things aren't always perfectly smooth with them, but don't worry we'll get our happy (and steamy) ending.
I loved both of these fics equally, and I really hope you take my suggestion to read both of them! They are both so well written, each are lighthearted, and maddingly sexy. The way each of them interpreted the same idea is so fascinating to me, truly both outstanding stories! After dark reads for both, of course.

While the writers keep playing us, here are some future plots to consider after robert comes back (ryan HAS to comeback at this point ok? i wont accept anything else):
Post-prison Denial - Aaron cannot forgive Robert or accept that he is back; he shifts the blame for Liv's death from Chas to Robert because Robert LEFT THEM
Post-prison Blues - Robert deals with his PTSD badly which engages Aaron's redemption arc; he stays by Robert's side and helps him through it
Reunion 3.0 / Seb's return - Robert gets access to Seb (he comes to some sort of agreement with Rebecca or something happens to her offscreen whatever) and seeing Rob and Seb (their son!!) together in the village destroys any willpower Aaron still had to fight against his feelings for Robert
Wedding 3.0 - this needs no explanation
Surrogacy 2.0 - i dont actually mind them going there again if only to get them their Sugden-Dingle daughter
The Return of Andy Sugden - everything is going well for Robert and Aaron but Andy's return shakes things up; the farmboy that Jack Sugden caught Robert with back in the day is working with Andy now; so we get jealousy and misunderstandings and high drama in the Still-Madly-In-Love-Husband front (because that's Aaron innit) and Robert finally tells Vic and Andy about what happened with his dad when he was young.
Teen Seb Comes to Stay - Seb decides he wants to live with his dads at the village permanently (rewashed Liv plot i know but im making it easy for them!!) there are issues with his little sister at first but they get quickly resolved. Seb and his auntie Eve become thick as thieves and become the village nightmares
The Return of Adam Barton - because Aaron needs his mate back at some point and I doubt Vic will settle with anyone else ever
Robron vs Caleb - this just seems like it would be fun idk. it could have something to do with Seb because he is just like his dads and finds trouble everywhere which Robert and Aaron always have to solve in the end
Robert vs Kim&Andy - at this point in my AU Andy is with Kim (romantically or as business partners idc) because it serves the purpose of killing two birds with one stone so that Robert can finally FINALLY win back Home Farm
Robert Sugden's Regression - being in charge of Home Farm ofc changes Robert a bit and he starts to become the thing he fears most: his father. Cue him pushing his children and Aaron to the breaking point until, in true soap-fashion, they break up again. The kids split too. Aaron takes their daughter and Seb stays with Robert. And this ofc leads to:
The Parent Trap: Robron Edition - Seb and his sister plot to get their dads back together through a series of funny shenanigans, but then one of them gets seriously hurt in an accident (they should watch out for those evil farm animals amirite? or was it another drunk driver? only the soap gods know) so all the progress they made crumbles. Aaron and Robert blame each other and seem broken up for good
The Biggest Mugs In The World - Aaron and Robert try to prove to themselves and their kids that they dont want anything to do with each other but every time Aaron sends Robert his divorce papers Robert 'misplaces them' until Aaron finds out Robert has been ripping them apart and chucking them into his fancy fireplace. They fight about Robert being a control freak and Aaron a jealous queen, because every person Robert has flirted with since they separated has ended up fleeing the village with their tail tucked between their legs (Aaron made sure of it). This goes on until they have angry make up sex and then hate themselves for it.
Reunion 4.0 - *PROBLEMATIC PLOT ALERT* Seb and Eve become romantically involved and try to hide it from their families (aunt and nephew fits the Dingle lore somehow lmao). When they are found out Robert goes apeshit and casts Seb out of the village (like his dad did to him once) but he and Seb are at The Layby and before Robert can make the biggest mistake of his life, the love of his life arrives just in time to stop him. Robert realizes what he has become and decides to leave Emmerdale himself (after all, he was always the disaster, the one unable to make anybody happy, he should have never comeback etc) but Aaron won't have it. They can't live without each other, and that fact has never been clearer than at that very moment (shot to a teary-eyed Seb behind Aaron). Robert begs for forgiveness and Aaron just scoffs because forgiving Robert is the easiest thing in the world. They had promised each other messed up forever, had they not?
You know. I know.

Also speaking of the Trials, that moment when Dean brought up past mistakes from years ago that sam made that he should atone for in the church, good grief I know family ties can be complicated but there have been a few times when I really wanted sam to deck dean and just go on a vacation away from him, and this was one of those moments (one of many if I'm being honest)
It feels like Dean is always judging sam for past 'mistakes' and has never fully forgiven him even after he says that he has, but he has no issue moving past other people's transgressions. Like I don't agree that Sam is fully to blame for the apocalypse since the angels and demons AND dean had a hand in it but no one ever mentions anyone else, just the role sam played in it. I don't understand how anyone considers dean blameless for breaking the first seal, but then they put all the blame on sam for breaking the last seal as if he wasn't manipulated in to it (I don't know if cas ever apologised to sam for for his role in manipulating him but I really bloody hope so)
Dean eventually just came off as so self righteous and high and mighty that for the life of me I couldn't figure out why anyone even liked his character anymore, except for his looks. I imagine he does have some redeeming moments but not nearly enough to justify the writers turning spn into more about Dean than both brothers
omfg i will be aggravated about dean's "list of sam's wrongdoings" until the day i die 💀💀how did he say that with his chest and zero shame istg every single thing he pulled out of his ass were things that either a) weren't sam's fault because it was outside of his control b) something he was lied to about and/or manipulated into doing or c) a combination of the two
AND whenever sam's past is brought everybody conveniently leaves out the part about how he sent lucifer back to hell at the expense of himself to be tortured for all eternity and accepted this as punishment of simply existing as lucifer's vessel which was never a thing he could control to begin with!! angels flat out said multiple times that letting lucifer out of hell to fight adam was a plan they set in motion long long time ago
speaking of angels. castiel. my guy in a dirty trenchcoat. how are you gonna blame sam for making the wrong choices when you kept vital information under wraps for an entire year - information that would help sam make an informed decision
i think for dean, not many knew he broke the first seal, i think only sam and the angels knew + some demons but no human side characters, while sam breaking the final seal became pretty public knowledge through word of mouth after lucifer's release. in addition, sam being lucifer's vessel, being prophesized as the next boy king to rule hell and having demon blood in him made all the "good guys" despise him bc in the eyes of angels and many hunters, sam was closer to demon than human. to some degree, being on the outside here not knowing the full picture i get the fear and anger directed specifically at sam way more than dean but in that case, dean and castiel should've helped lift sam's spirits and ease his guilt by acknowledging their own part in lucifer's comeback, even when they too were manipulated and lied into doing it.
dean does indeed have his moments but they are unfortunately few and far between post-kripke and it's such a shame that they wrote dean the way they did bc the charm and core of the show is the complicated, flawed and dysfunctional yet compelling, believable and caring relationship between the brothers. writers post-kripke were so often close to saying something or having a breakthrough with dean and/or sam but somehow avoided that every time the opportunity arose, which is kinda impressive actually, and lost a lot of what made the characters and by extension the show so intriguing to begin with

Grey's Anatomy Decay (Acting edition)
AKA trained actress rates some of the best and worst current acting in Grey's Anatomy.
First and foremost: The Trident of Super Women.
Chandra Wilson (Dr Miranda Bailey): She has GOT to be the best actress in Grey's Anatomy at the moment, which is not weird, considering her amazing training and experience. Over all these seasons, Chandra has given Bailey such depth, complexity, character... She has managed to show the evolution and changes of Bailey without erasing the very essence of her, and every time she shows up un screen, her whole face and body are full of natural emotion. She's the kind of actress that makes the job look easy. That makes you forget she's just an actress and that Bailey is, in fact, not real.
Kate Walsh (Dr Addison Montgomery): What skill, ladies and gents. She comes second probably just because she comes and goes from Grey's and we don't get enough of her. This is an actress who also fills her character with pure life, but you see her in something else, and she's a chameleon. She can play anything. She gives so much information just by expertly raising an eyebrow, looking in a "certain" way... And like in the previous case, she's brilliant at keeping the essence of the character while showing incredible character evolution, showing us her heart, her soul, her mind... She's at times full of expression and at times completely lacking, perfectly fitting the circumstances. She's, I'd say, the Sandra Oh of the later seasons, and if anybody could effortlessly become the new lead of the series, that's her.
Caterina Scorsone (Dr Amelia Shepherd): She's an absolute monster. I've seen her in both Grey's and Private Practise, and essentially, she's, like Walsh and Wilson, an expert on showing the depth of human emotion, personality, character evolution, expression... She's an expert at nuances too. Wilson and Walsh are simply a tiny bit better.
And on our way down:
4. Jake Borelli (Dr Levi Schmitt): He popped to mind because I used to really dislike his character. But the thing about Borelli is, he really understands Levi, not just that, but he's truly made him his own. Levi wouldn't have the nuances he has if anybody else had played him, and it's hard to imagine Levi being any different. Borelli has also done remarkable work with him, particularly in regards to character understanding and character evolution, but shows a limited range of expression. This means that if you pay attention, it seems like his emotional range with Levi is like, six expressions, three tones of voice and little more. Might just be poor script. Note I still quite dislike the character (and wouldn't mind if it just disappeared), but Borelli makes Levi worth watching.
5. Jaicy Elliott (Taryn Elm): Let this be the ONE time a barely-there-actress makes it to my top five. Listen up folks, Elliott has a lot of potential. Every time she shows up, something about her makes me want to sit down and really listen to her and really get to her essence. Once they discargded the useless and stupid storyline of her love for Meredith, Elm grew. She became a whole person. The fact that she quit medicine was explored by Elliott so well, showing a depth of emotional sensitivity to her that was entirely new, which is why she had to stay in the show somehow. She's the new wise, all-seeing, all-knowing bartender substituting our favourite gay couple in the earlier seasons. And she plays it so well. That being said, her acting potential is being wasted and she absolutely needs to make a gigantic comeback to main role. And she has one thing that another brilliant actress, Sara Ramirez (Dr Torres) also had, which is the great ability to know when to do a lot of acting while seemingly doing nothing. The nuances, man!
6. Niko Teho (Dr Lucas Adams): Behold, one hell of an incredible actor. When you have a relatively small but with a lot of potential role like Teho has, you have to do something to get people interested. And when I look into his eyes, there's just a something hidden there that makes me want to know more, and see more. That's top shelf acting. That's the human nature of showing up but not giving your bare essence in one second, whlist making it obvious that there's more. You look into his eyes and you can see the thoughts moving. And that, with actors, is actually very uncommon and difficult to achieve (and is considered great acting). Normally actors just kind of "show up" like deers in headlights, and do what they think is imitating real life. Actors like Teho, turn it into real life. They make themselves real.
7. Anthony Hill (Dr Winston Ndugu): He's only here because the other day I caught him in another series when he was much younger, and it actually took me a second to realise who he was. Not like he's changed (indeed, the only physical difference was the beard, in spite of the years), but his soul was different. How often do you see actors show their characters' souls? In the US, very infrequently. I see it far more in British actors, which I'd argue is because in Britain, you don't even HEAR about casting notices unless you've got a lot of acting training and are a graduate from some important acting schools. So, this is a quality that really isn't there often, and Hill has it. However, he doesn't quite become his character, I can still see too much of Hill when I'm trying to see Ndugu, so we'll see. But I'm glad he remains in Grey's.
8. Kevin McKidd (Dr Owen Hunt): This hurts me because McKidd has been done so fucking dirty by the script writers for years and he's really tried to do the best he could with the nothing he was given. Whenever his character really had a proper storyline (so for approximately the first 10 minutes of him appearing in Grey's), he was amazing. McKidd gave Hunt such depth, such emotion, such rawness, and also made him so intriguing. But Hunt has just been losing since and to me, McKidd lately looks old, tired and demotivated. He doesn't give me the energy of the trauma superstar any more, more like... An old lion who doesn't want to retire.
9. James Pickens Jr (Dr Richard Webber): Speaking of old lions who just won't retire, with all due respect. So, I have a lot of affection for Webber and ergo, for Pickens. He's not even actually old. But man, he's gone down a lot. He was such a vibrant presence in the earlier seasons, but after all these years... I was Googling whether he'd had hip surgery or knee surgery. I mean, I don't imagine him running to a surgery or to the loo. And truth is, to an actor, our bodies are our tools, and when the body decays, you better be excellent at finding new tools (or when you can't use your body, as it was the case of the amazing acting from Eddie Redmayne playing Stephen Hawkin) and Pickens hasn't. He lacks expression, he lacks energy, he lacks life... I suggest a very long holiday and returning to acting later, or a change for a less active role. Webber is supposed to be an old surgery beast who still has it in him. Pickens doesn't seem to have it in him any more.
10. Harry Shum Jr (Dr Benson Kwan): OK so I've seen Shum for many years, and one thing I've always had clear; he's a top class dancer, but he's not an actor. The US (where I see this most often) tends to make the mistake of pretending anybody can act and hiring anybody as an actor. Dancers aren't actors. Singers aren't actors. You can have incredible actors who happen to be great dancers or singers, but not the other way around. And that is because singing and dancing are great skills and difficult ones, but people devoted to them typically don't have the time and energy to also do advanced acting training. But for actors, learning proper singing and dancing tends to be a must. My opinion with Harry Shum hasn't changed even though I've seen him in a bunch of things by now over many series; He's expressionless, plain, boring, lacking juice, lacking a je-ne-sais-quoi that makes it impossible for me to really believe his characters. I just keep seeing Harry over and over. And he needs to take a page from Sandra Oh, who was the first to show me how fucking full of expression and nuisances Asian actors can be, with or without big eyes.
11. E. R. Fightmaster (Dr Kai Bartley): This is another example of a non-actor. Fightmaster is a fantastic musician. And I can sense that they're also a very sensitive person. Indeed, they've given Bartley that inner depth of a well-written song. However, they're just not actors, and it's always felt to me like I'm just watching E. R. Fightmaster, that Dr Kai Bartley is simply they're doctor alter ego.

Hades from Totally Spies, Mandy from Hercules, and Darkseid from DC are my favorite bad guys. The Lord of the Dead is a hilarious yet threatening snarker with an excellent performer, the Asian mean girl has the best comebacks and her two-dimensionality makes her ripe for “Fanfic Fuel” (no not “Fetish Fuel” you pervs), and Apokolips’ ruler is all the more terrifying when you consider what he represents and how it has resurfaced in our current society. Sure Hades does not represent the original myths at all*, Mandy’s voice might be a little weird, and Darkseid has definitely been overexposed but at least those villains haven't been retconned to death (Xehanort), shoehorned when they didn’t need to be there (Adam Taurus), written as “crazy” to justify lazy writing (DCEU Lex Luthor, Joker), suddenly written as “crazy” out of nowhere (Azula), pathetic (that one guy from LOK who i can’t remember the name), barely show up or are involved with the main story at all (MCU Thanos, and from what was seen so far, MCU Kang), not given enough chance to shine due to being a twist villain (most Disney antagonists nowadays), a tired evil Superman cliche, outright contradict the culture of the work (The “Devil” character in LOK even though it’s supposed to be a Asian world, NOT based on Christianity), unintentionally more sympathetic than the “heroes” (Magneto), incredibly inconsistent due to writers unable to make their minds up on how to write the character (Freddy Krueger and Mystique*). etc. And it doesn’t matter that LOK had good villains, that show was still ******* awful. * Then again, “staying true to the myths” is how we got that horrible version of Wonder Woman’s Amazon family in the New 52, so is that really a good idea now? *No seriously Marvel, WTF is with Mystique in the comics? Is she really good deep within? Is she the most evil mutant ever? In her solo series, she’s in tears about having to sacrifice a child (though someone beats her to it), when one comic said she couldn’t give two shits about throwing Nightcrawler down a cliff and if memory serves the panel even showed her flashing an evil grin (at least the 90s animated series made it clear Mystique felt guilty over it). And apparently a new story revealed that she instead tied him to a log and sensed him down a stream, so oh wait she didn’t really throw Nightcrawler down a cliff? Or something like that. Also in that solo series she seems to really care about mutants whereas other writers say she’s only in it for herself. In fact, Mystique in her solo title seemed to be a very chill anti-hero overall, never doing anything truly twisted. Even when she’s doing bad **** the writers can’t make up their mind on her personality. Her trying to assassinate Senator Kelly and sacrifice a newborn was bad but at least she still was trying to save her dying daughter and wasn’t actively “malicious”; and Senator Kelly was an bigoted ******* so, meanwhile she’s written in other books as a utterly sadistic assshat who killed Carol Danver’s lover while impersonating her for some reason and in Bendis’ run she’s an unapologetic asshole who put Dazzler in a coma and framed to X-men for a crime spree she pulled with Sabretooth and that other villain. And what the duck is with everything she pulled in Jason Aaron’s run? Her relationship with her kids is also all kinds of “do whatever”. Again does she truly love Nightcrawler and Rogue and would give her life for them (as the 90s animated version did one time) or does she see them as tools to be used and is not afraid to maim or kill them? Claremont’s run probably wrote her as a loving mom yet in a later X-Men comic she freakin stabbed Rogue! Even the sympathetic solo series points this out! For gods sake Marvel, I don’t care if she’s good or evil JUST PICK ONE SINGLE VISION FOR THE CHARACTER AND BE DONE WITH IT. Mystique has like 5 or more different characters just crammed in there and it’s such an exhausting mess. Kind of like Xehanort really.

The 1986 film festival was the first I covered as both a writer and photographer, and was the beginning of a quarter century of regular portrait work every September in the rooms of whatever hotels were hosting the guests and publicity suites that year. It was so much easier in 1986, before the big movie PR professionals showed up en masse, and you could still book nearly every shoot and interview through the festival's own press office. Besides David Lynch - my big score that year - I photographed people like Dutch-born Australian director Paul Cox.
I was a fan of Cox after his films Lonely Hearts and Man of Flowers, and he was here promoting Cactus, starring Isabelle Huppert. I wish I'd known at the time that Cox had started his career as a photographer - Google was decades in the future - but it explains why he was so comfortable posing for my camera, despite my inexperience (I had only bought my Pentax barely a year and a half before). Cox was passionate and adamant - he had no patience for the big studios and the mainstream filmmaking that he considered the enemy of small, independent pictures like his. I remember leaving the interview chastened and inspired - practically a convert to his worldview. Cox would continue to make films for nearly three more decades, but this period probably marked the peak of his profile as a festival director. Paul Cox died in 2016.
Another director I photographed at the 1986 film festival was Jean-Jacques Beineix, who I'd first heard about when his film Diva was a huge hit at the festival five years previous. He'd hit a rough patch with his next film, Moon in the Gutter, but made a comeback with Betty Blue, the film he brought to the Toronto festival that year. Films like Diva and Betty Blue, as well as directors like Beineix, Leos Carax and Luc Besson, were dubbed cinéma du look by French critics, and I remember how exciting they seemed at the time. It was, looking back, very much the sort of thing that would appeal to a young man - romantic and stylish and full of angst - and while I think Betty Blue is still worth seeing (though it would never be made today), I'm not sure that Diva has held up well.
Beineix had been through a lot in the last few years and I suppose it showed in these photos. I considered one of these frames unprintable back then, very far beyond my meagre darkroom skills, but I have managed to rescue it today thanks to superior scanning skills and the assistance of neural AI filters in Photoshop. The result looks like a still from an old nouvelle vague film, with Beineix in the role of Belmondo or Delon. Jean-Jacques Beineix died of leukaemia in Paris in 2022.
Horton Foote and his daughter Hallie were at the 1986 film festival promoting On Valentine's Day, the second film in a trilogy of pictures based on his plays set in the Texas of Foote's childhood, which starred his daughter in a role based on Foote's mother. Today everyone probably knows Foote for his Oscar-winning screenplay for To Kill a Mockingbird. He reccommended Robert Duvall for the role of Boo Radley in the film, and years later Duvall would play the lead role in Tender Mercies, which would get Foote another Oscar nomination and win Duvall one for Best Actor.
Foote also wrote scripts for pictures like Baby the Rain Must Fall, Of Mice and Men and The Trip to Bountiful - the latter based on his own 1953 teleplay, which went on to Broadway. Foote was the cousin of historian Shelby Foote, who wrote the 3-volume history that was the basis for Ken Burns' documentary series The Civil War, for which Foote provided the voice of Jefferson Davis. I photographed Horton and Hallie Foote simply, in a chair by the window of a room in the Park Plaza (now the Park Hyatt) hotel; the similarity of the poses and lighting ended up underscoring the family resemblance. Hallie Foote still works, mostly in theatre; Horton Foote died in 2009.

i'm still ruminating on the message of that goddamn ending and Stephen's character 'development.' that he was supposed to learn that sometimes there can be another way is so stupid when you consider that in the first film, HE was the one who was so adamant about always being able to find another way, literally having an entire argument scene about it with Mordo after he just about broke down, and THEN had to be tempered with the "hold your horses boy; sometimes all you got are bad options" by both Mordo then the Ancient One. that sometimes one must break the rules in order to serve the greater good. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT. does that make the Ancient One a villain by Waldron's logic then? does he think Stephen wouldn't exhaust all other options before choosing the option causing the least overall harm, even after getting that message from her? does he think when Stephen saw the future events of endgame he thought, "ah well 5 trillion will die but we win and they'll come back anyways so i might as well stop looking at other options now. peace?" and yeah the argument can be made that it doesn't really count since it was Defender Strange who made the choice to sacrifice America, not our Strange, but it's pretty fucking obvious the film wants us to think of both of them being capable of making those decisions. excuse-the-fuck you Waldron, but i hope you never lay your hands on him again. clearly you don't even know the first thing about his character and you unironically think "getting the girl" should be the reward for saving the universe. ugh.
---
Thank you for your submission! I do believe Stephen has an arc and character development in MoM but first allow me to mention something related to what you said that I have been wanting to mention for a while now.
And it's that Marvel have things happen but the characters aren't always changed by them. They will only mention them in passing so that fans can yell "oh look! they're referencing X movie!" but the character in question won't be changed by what he was put through.
So according to Waldron in a recent interview he said that Stephen had only learnt two things in NWH: he's more patient with teenagers and now he knows of the multiverse, as if he hadn't learnt about it in his first movie 🙄 . It's absolutely crazy to me because Stephen's words about the villains throughout the movie come straight from his guilt about what happened in Titan - it makes perfect sense in his characterization. So seeing Peter actually healing them in the end was a huge surprise for him and it only makes sense that it would have deepened his guilt over having to let trillions of lives be lost for 5 years in order to fully defeat Thanos.
And yet in MoM Stephen never gets to express how he felt before, during and after Titan. The Snap is only mentioned by other characters who either blame him for the deaths, question his decision to let everyone die for 5 years (and he's never allowed a comeback to those who question him) and in the end it is implied he should have done something else by comparing that to Defender trying to take America's power.
Which when you watch IW the only option Stephen was thinking of was protecting the Stone and if that meant the death of Peter or Stark he wouldn't hesitate to protect the stone and not them. And yet! Once they arrive on Titan what does he do? He checks 14 million outcomes trying to find the best option for everyone. And as I've said many times before that doesn't only mean picking the "right" and "moral" choice: the universe was at stake, they didn't know how much time they had, Bruce had told them Thanos already possessed more than one stone...
You can't tell me what 838 Stephen did was so wrong because he chose to fight alone when the Illuminati were a terrible team: as shown in the movie they don't work as a team, they underestimate the threats and they're so full of themselves they're convinced they can define who is the real enemy which makes them overlook everyone else. If what their Stephen did was wrong (use the Darkhold and fix everything alone), then what our Stephen did in Titan was the right thing: he used the Time Stone to check in what timeline they made it right then vowed to replicate every move.
I beg Waldron to tell me: what was the right thing to do at that time? Because if he's going to have characters questioning Stephen he should be allowed to defend himself + explain why what he did was the only way, and if it's not him it should be Wong or literally anyone. "He's so arrogant he thinks there was only one way", yeah fine, what should have been done then? But that's Waldron's MO: he asks the questions but always fails to deliver the answers.
What I'm saying is if a character feels guilty it doesn't mean they are guilty. Of course Stephen is going to feel like he failed the universe but at that point in Titan he literally had no other choice. If they want someone to blame for the Snap Thanos is right there, he's the one who did it.
Regarding Stephen's arc and character development in MoM... I think they were fine. In DS1 he learnt a good lesson like you say ("this isn't about you") but he had full control over the battle with Dormammu, in IW he was learning to let go and he had to take the hands off the wheel for 5 years and then in MoM not only he chose not to fix the problem himself but he left it entirely in the hands of a teenager, he believed in her abilities and her resolve and it all turned out alright.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the "getting the girl" part though. I hated it, it sounded awful and well, pretty much all that chat with Nick was terrible and completely unnecessary.

Like clockwork, I always manage to come down with some sort of respiratory illness every February and September ish; this time around however my body has endured some weird PMS, GI, and UO (my attempt to spare those in my circle who are not in medicine and do not have the same TMI-threshold) symptoms all month and starting Sunday I've been dealing with a feverish, achy kind of malaise with a nonexistent appetite for food or water. Not the strongest comeback after a month of an intense anxiety/adrenaline high (my second exam of the year was hell in ways I won't bore anyone with), but I am grateful for remote access to my education in the meantime 🙏 I just hope I'm able to not mess up my sleep schedule too much, considering I knocked out for hours in the early evening today and find myself writing this at 3am.
To state the obvious and expected: school has been exceedingly difficult. Not necessarily in a bad way though, at least all the time? I am constantly flipping between resentment towards the unreasonable pacing of a medical school education and feeling blessed and willing to probe about everything I learn about**; there's no shortage of academic and even existential enrichment these days, and as a kid who never took school as seriously as they probably should have, I'm holding on tightly to the opportunity to prove to myself that I can be the intellectually curious human I've always wanted to be. In short, these days have been an extension of last year - the arduous yet rewarding process of learning, period; about cells, the trajectory of an organic molecule in our livers, the phenotypical presentations of certain enzyme deficiencies, and the hardest one as of late - about how to maintain my sanity while being tested over and over again.
As I've been carrying the weight of this mental load, movement (in any form) has unfortunately been largely on the back burner. I'm hoping to never have to go a full week without at least fitting in some maintenance weight lifting, if not progressive overloading, but being sick this week might get in the way. The good news is I think I've nailed down a daily routine that I can start sticking to once I'm back in person?? I have one more true P/F exam before I'll start being tier graded (honors/high P/P/F), so the pressure is on to really figure out my strategies this time.
Godspeed to everyone working towards a time sensitive, stress inducing, energy draining or fate controlling project/goal/milestone right now - we're all in this together <3
10 things that have kept me nourished recently (I love fall):
CONCORD GRAPE SEASON YAAAAAAA (pictured above - NOT JUMBO BLUEBERRIES tho I have a soft spot for all fruits ofc)
Peanut butter chocolate chip larabars; I have adam tcharni to thank for introducing me to these
a ton of veggie-saturated japchae, porridge, and japanese curry courtesy of my mom but all very simple dishes to cook up as well if anybody needs meal inspo
finding this chocolate and miso banana bread recipe and making plans to bake it w a friend this weekend
planning a mid-autumn/chuseok potluck for this weekend to celebrate w my fellow asian american classmates! excited to gather and bool
The healthy minds (thank you ryan) and balance apps - both have built-in gameifying features that encourage a regimented approach to meditation in the same way that a lot of fitness apps do
seeing matthew's decorated spooky apt and watching season 4 of love is blind together as a mental pacifier before bed
deep cleaning/sanitizing my own apt
finding a volunteer opportunity for a trick or treat program the school hosts for the city kids
A very long but very needed talk with my brother who imparted tons of his invaluable wisdom
**Our existence is made up of long ass codes, created by strings of sugar, phosphate, and nitrogen-rich molecules. These codes are used to make proteins. But where the hell, then, does sentience come from??

Although the awards season has just begun, we wouldn't be surprised if David Fincher's next picture, The Killer, gets mentioned at next year's festivities. The film is based on the graphic books of French writer Alexis Nolent and depicts a violent assassin.
The story develops a conscience and stars Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton. Keep an eye on things to uncover the mystery of the movie. We hope you will enjoy this amazing movie with your friends or family.
#7 Love At First Sight
In the film Love at First Sight, Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy play the roles of two young people who meet by coincidence at an airport and sit next to each other during their journey. The strange occurrences inspire an instant bond between the two people.
They get along famously during the flight. Yet when they arrive at their destination and find that they are no longer together, they have no choice but to put their trust in fate to reunite them. Let's wait to witness this cute love story.
#8 Pain Hustlers
The novel "The Hard Sale" by Evan Hughes inspired the film Pain Hustlers. In the movie adaption, Emily Blunt plays the role of a struggling mother who eventually finds employment at a failing pharmaceutical startup.
To her utter astonishment, the business is engaged in the planning stages of a potentially disastrous racketeering scheme. Watching how Emily can stop this conspiracy and save others will be quite anxious.

Henry Cavill Out as Superman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman on Hold: All About the DC Shakeups — So Far
Things are changing among the big-screen DC superheroes. In October, Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad directors James Gunn and Peter Safran were announced as the new co-CEOs of DC Studios, formerly known as DC Films, at Warner Bros. With the new leadership came unexpected changes and announcements about the franchises' future.
Gunn, 56, tweeted on December 8 that "building the next ten years of the story takes time & we're still just getting started," and he and Safran were aware that they were entering a "fractious environment." Gunn warned there would be "an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming."
"But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities and the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far and to help rectify what has not," he wrote, adding, "We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the story and in the service of the DC characters we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives."
The director added that the team is "giving these characters and the stories the time and attention they deserve, and we still have a lot more questions to ask and answer."
Before the new leadership took over, DC was undergoing a few alterations that caught fans and filmmakers off guard, including canceling the already-filmed Batgirl movie.
Read on for what we know so far about the future of DC movies. In early December, The Hollywood Reporter and multiple outlets reported that a Wonder Woman 3 script by director Patty Jenkins was rejected, putting the planned trilogy's conclusion in question.
Gunn said on Twitter that "some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven't decided yet whether it's true or not."
The reports came days after Gal Gadot (who was cast as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, nine years ago) wrote on Instagram that she "can't wait to share her next chapter" of the character with fans.
Gadot, 37, added, "I've been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character, and more than anything, I'm grateful for you." The most amazing, warm, and loving fans in the world: "I'm still pinching myself to see if I will wake up."
Jenkins broke her silence on the reports, clarifying that she "never walked away" from the project and that she was "open to considering anything asked of me."
She added, "I do not want what has been a beautiful journey with WW to land on [a] negative note. I have loved and been so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman films. She has an incredible character. "Every day, living in and around her values makes you a better person." "I wish her and her legacy an amazing future ahead, with or without me."
Henry Cavill, who debuted as Superman in 2013's Man of Steel and launched the subsequent DC movie series, showed up in a cameo during Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie in October. At the time, Cavill told fans on Instagram that he was making a comeback to the role and said in an interview days later that there was a "bright future ahead" for him as the character.
However, Gunn revealed that his team was moving forward with a Superman movie about the "earlier part" of the character's life, and therefore he "will not be played by Henry Cavill." Gunn said he'd been writing the script for a while.
Cavill, 39, then shared a statement about the "sad" development, adding, "After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, before Gunn and Safran's hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life."
He said he has "respect" for Gunn and Safran's decision not to bring him back, writing, "The changing of the guard is something that happens." I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck and the happiest of fortunes.
Still, Gunn said they are still open to collaborating with Cavill: "We're big fans, and we talked about some exciting possibilities to work together in the future."
Ben Affleck returns as Batman in the upcoming movie The Flash, in theaters June 16, and possibly Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, out Dec. 25, 2023. But the future of his days as the Caped Crusader beyond that is unclear.
Gunn, though, tweeted that he had met with Affleck, 50, "precisely because he wants to direct and we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project."
Variety reported that DC Studios was considering potentially weaving Robert Pattinson's version of Bruce Wayne into the main cinematic universe. (He debuted in the part in director Matt Reeves' The Batman back in March, and a TV spin-off is in the works, built around Colin Farrell as The Penguin.)
Gunn denied the report, though, calling it "entirely untrue." The upcoming Joker sequel, with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has begun filming and seems to also remain separate from the extended universe.

Speaking of details!! Who are your ultimate favourite characters and why? What are some specifically *them* things those characters do? (Could be mannerisms, a quote, etc). I hope you're having a good week! ~ PSC Secret Santa
Hi PSC Secret Santa! To be honest, this was quite interesting to narrow down. khslkghdlskghd. In no particular order, my ultimate faves are: Bess Adams McCord (Madam Secretary)
I love her leadership and her character is so empowering. I also love her little quirks and reactions, especially her 'wait, what?' moments and how she rises above any challenge.
Samantha Stephens (Bewitched)
I know this is an old show, but I love how she has an egalitarian relationship with her husband, considering the period it aired. But what I love about her is she doesn't take s*** from anyone especially when she's been wronged or hurt. I love how she stands up for herself.
Sophia Petrillo (The Golden Girls)
Okay, another old show but I just love how she can be angry and be honest, and everyone respects that because it's Sophia. She's my spirit animal. shfklsadfhlska
Mrs. Which (A Wrinkle In Time 2018)
When we watched this, this quote stuck with me: "Do you realize how many events and choices that had to occur since the birth of the universe, leading to the making of you just exactly the way you are?"
Roger Healey (I Dream of Jeannie)
I love this character because he'll never leave his best friend. Through thick and thin, he'd stick out for him no matter what. Also, I love his '???' moments haha.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast 2017)
One of my fave Disney characters.
Tony Stark
Aside from that, I love RDJ, I love how his character can remain so serious, but then we don't see coming either his puns or comebacks hfskldhgslkaghsla
Diego (Ice Age)
I've always liked Diego from the standpoint of deviating from what is called 'normal' because he's heart wants to go on a different path and standing up for his chosen family and friends is cool. sdkfhlkasgh
Please don't feel pressured to make anything if it's not in your fandoms, 'cause I know these are some smol fandoms. So who are your ultimate faves too? Maybe we have some common fandoms yet to be discovered. shflskadghdsla. Also these are such good questions that I had to write short essays of them last night before posting today haha. I hope your day brings you more joy. <3

Yankee shortstop 2015
Tumblr media
#Yankee shortstop 2015 upgrade#
Lindor is a player I would highly consider not only trading for but locking up long term.
#Yankee shortstop 2015 upgrade#
Lindor would be an upgrade defensively and add a new dimension to their lineup. Also, Lindor is still putting up solid Statcast numbers and is still only 27 years old. He’s a switch-hitter with power from the left side. The Yankees have the pieces to make this deal, both in terms of prospects and major league level talent. Cleveland is trying to move him, as Lindor will likely make around $20 million in arbitration this year, per Jon Paul Morosi. ]I believe that second base is the preferable position for Torres. To be fair, Torres has never exactly rated highly on defense, so this is more a question about where the Yankees feel like he would be more comfortable playing. Torres’ defense is where he had the most issues, where he saved -9 defensive runs last season, via Fangraphs. He got off to a slow start, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on offense. Yes, it was only a 60-game season, but Torres disappointed, both offensively and defensively. The Bombers gave Torres the keys to the almighty position last season. Here are my brief thoughts on the matter. Shortstop is one position where the Yankees should look at their options. Severino and Boston RHP Nick Pivetta are to start Saturday. The Yankees need to make several moves to improve their team for the 2021 season. Yankees: Rizzo was hit on the right hand by a fastball from Eovaldi in the fifth inning that tailed in. Red Sox: Bogaerts on his hamstring: ”Hopefully I come back tomorrow and I feel good and get ready to go.” … RHP Matt Barnes was not available because of back tightness. Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka moved the new Pitch Com signaling device from a wrist to a shinguard. The former player and broadcaster died Oct. 2 in memory of Jerry Remy, whose last name is in red. New New York City Mayor Eric Adams played catch with Yankees right-hander Luis Severino before the game.īoston is wearing black patches on its right sleeves with a white No. Every pitch counts and that’s the way we’re taking it.” ”That’s the kind of atmosphere you want to play in. ”It’s intense and that’s fun,” Story sad. Story played his first big league game at second base after 733 at shortstop and went 0 for 5 at the plate in his Red Sox debut. Eovaldi, who allowed three runs and five hits in five innings, didn’t give up his second home run last year until June 4. Stanton has five opening-day homers, including four with the Yankees. He was stranded when Stanton struck out for the fourth time. Judge, who said he will not negotiate during the season, went 2 for 5, including a two-out double in the ninth off Hansel Robles. New York star Aaron Judge let his deadline pass for a long-term contract. ”That’s a tough spot where you’re down 0-2, shadows, late, first at-bat of the season, everything on the line.” ”I’m sure today was a really tough day for him,” Boone said. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, also obtained in the Donaldson trade, started the inning as the automatic runner at second base in the first extra-inning game of the strange rule’s third season. ”It’s amazing for him to come and to get on the good side of this place right away,” teammate Giancarlo Stanton said. He completed a comeback from a 3-0, first-inning deficit, becoming just the third Yankee with a walk-off RBI in his first game after Roy Weatherly in the 1943 opener and Chase Headley in July 2014, according the Elias Sports Bureau. ”It doesn’t get any bigger than this right here.”ĭonaldson, the 2015 AL MVP with Toronto, was acquired from Minnesota on March 13. ”The energy in the stadium, the atmosphere was pretty electric,” Donaldson said Friday after his 11th-inning single lifted the Yankees over the Boston Red Sox 6-5. Shadows had crawled across the infield by the time Josh Donaldson capped his New York debut with a performance reminiscent of the Yankees of old – their first walk-off win on opening day since Yogi Berra charged across the plate on Andy Carey’s single to beat the Washington Senators in 1957. NEW YORK (AP)Fans packed Yankee Stadium and red, white and blue bunting was out on a sun-splashed afternoon, just like opening days before the pandemic.

All eyes on Bonnaroos attendance as the festival makes its comeback
With major questions swirling about its current popularity, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival returns to Manchester on Thursday after a two-year hiatus. The 2020 festival was canceled. Last year’s event was delayed by the pandemic and then canceled at the eleventh hour due to flooding. Why it matters: Bonnaroo has become a massive music industry success story and one of the nation’s premier festival experiences. The 2019 event was declared a sellout. Yes, but: Four-day passes for this year’s comeback remained on sale Thursday morning. The last two cancellations didn’t help, and there’s now way more competition within the festival business. Summer music festivals have proliferated across the country in recent years, giving fans who were willing to sojourn to rural Tennessee less-expensive alternatives. Between the lines: Considering those factors, stakeholders will be scrutinizing the size of the crowds to gauge the popularity of this year’s event. Bonnaroo, which is primarily owned by the corporate concert giant Live Nation, doesn’t disclose its actual attendance. However, public records kept by the Coffee County budget office revealed how many fans purchased tickets in previous years. The intrigue: It’s also been a tumultuous few years for Bonnaroo organizers dealing with the local government. Bonnaroo pays for the emergency responders, trash collection and other festival-related expenses incurred by Coffee County and Manchester governments. After Bonnaroo was unable to reach an agreement with the Coffee County government for road improvements around the venue, organizers struck a deal with the city of Manchester to annex the farm. That agreement means Manchester will get the tax revenue generated by the event rather than the county. Coffee County responded by working with state lawmakers to pass a law that will allow it to impose a new fee on each ticket sold for future concerts on the farm. Bonnaroo booked Stevie Nicks, Tool and J. Cole as headliners for this year’s festival, which boasts its typically deep and genre-diverse lineup. The Chicks, 21 Savage and Machine Gun Kelly will also play prime time slots. But forecasts show high temperatures will take center stage. This year’s festival will be defined largely by how fans and organizers manage the heat. What we’re watching: The vast majority of fans camp on the festival grounds, where there is precious little shade. Our thought bubble: The Axios Nashville team is too reliant on central air to attend. But Adam’s brother, Luke, who is a diehard Bonnaroovian, offered this take on how to make the most of the festival. “For a quick blast of chilly relief, give your bandana a quick dip in the bottom of your cooler,” Luke says. “Fold it up with a few ice cubes, and soothe your sweltering forehead with an ice-cold, fashionable headpiece.” And: “Go to a show solo. Bonnaroovians are a peaceful, welcoming bunch. Going to a show without your crew can open you up to some wonderful, or downright weird, interactions.” For the casuals: If you don’t have tickets and prefer to avoid the heat, you can catch Bonnaroo from the air-conditioned comfort of your living room. Hulu will livestream performances throughout Bonnaroo. A Hulu subscription is required, and a lineup of which artists’ sets will be streamed was not released as of Thursday morning. The complete Bonnaroo lineup. https://ift.tt/dW8gMcs https://ift.tt/JnzHR03
