Paul Wilson's boy is such a nice young man, shame about his boyfriend though; they say

That Wilson boys sure knows how to pick ‘em they say, shaking their heads when Sam starts dating the head cheerleader at his school. She's a lot. Smokes pot behind the abandoned burger joint by the docks and sings obscene lyrics loudly when driving around streets of Delacroix, windows down, music on full blast. Sam likes her anyways, bails her out when she gets arrested for underage drinking and drives her home with his hand on her thigh.

Paul’s boy is such a nice young man, shame about his boyfriend though they say as Sam strolls around town holding hands with his first boyfriend. Sam smiles at them and listens to Connor talk about the gig he booked in a rock club in New Orleans. His neighbors shake their heads and his dad’s friend sighs as they pass them, but Sam still goes to Connor’s gig and kisses him after, clutching at his chains as they scramble for some privacy backstage.

What a good boy, Wilson’s oldest, why’s he gotta step out with that little troublemaker they say when Alicia parks her dirt bike in front of Wilson family home. Sam waves at Mr. Boyd across the street, scowling at them and helps Alicia get off the bike. He kisses the front of her closed helmet, making her giggle.

Darlene must be losing her mind, for his boy to go to war and come back with a drunk like that they say when Riley chugs beer after beer and shouts obscenities with thick accent at the soccer game only he’s watching. People at the bar turn to them when Riley swears at the TV when his team does not score. Sam ignores their murmurs and raised brows. He tucks himself further into his boyfriend’s side and smiles when Riley kisses his head.

What’s a nice boy like that doing with such a reckless fool they say when Sam shows up to Delacroix after Washington, bruised and battered with Steve beside him. He laughs at Steve’s pouting face as they scold him for putting Sam in danger. Sam comforts Steve with a kiss to his burning cheek at the dinner table after his uncle Martin chastises him for risking Sam’s life like a common fool.

Good to see Wilson’s picked a nice boy for a change they say as they watch Bucky sand the deck at Paul and Darlene. Sam glances at them and shakes his head with a smile. He laughs as Carlos gives him a thumbs up behind Bucky’s back while they clean the trash off the deck. Of course they would like Bucky. Figures.

Darlene Wilson must be dancing in heavens, seeing his boy with a gentleman like that they say when Bucky keeps sticking around and charming the hell out of the whole Delacroix. Sam teases Bucky about it later, chuckling between kisses as Bucky tries to hide his blush in Sam’s neck.

Paul did always say his boy had a knack for danger they say when Sam limps off of the quinjet right at Sarah’s backyard, leaning on Bucky as he holds him up. They shake their heads fondly when Bucky keeps asking his neighbors for Darlene’s foolproof homemade remedy for bruises. Sam kisses Bucky’s arm and playfully nips at his shoulder while he wraps vodka soaked cabbage leaves around Sam’s bruised thigh.

Paul and Darlene would have been so proud they say when matching silver bands appear on Sam and Bucky’s ring fingers. They bring homemade whiskey and spicy potato salad and pretend the annual Wilson cookout is Sam’s wedding. Sam stands with his arm around Bucky’s waist as they ah and oh at Bucky’s war stories. Sam sneaks Bucky off to the boat and pretends to watch the sunset as he watches Bucky with his lips pressed to his metal hand.

That boy’s gonna be a giant, just like his daddy they say and Bucky agrees.
