A Journey Into JoyStep 3 — Week 4: The Refusal
Step 3 has us looking at what makes us turn away from “the call” we established in Step 2.
With this step, it’s time to look at the fears, disbeliefs, a sense of inadequacy, or plain unwillingness to make the sacrifices that are require…in other words: basically anything that keeps us from answering “the call” in some area (or areas) of our life…
That's right, because when hyperfixation hits I have to do this during my free time.
I know there are some people who enjoy these types of coloring and relaxing projects so anyone is free to download them and give them their personal touch (just don't remove the signature please).
If you share it please don't forget to show me!!
You can find this design on my Kofi page for better resolution and on Redbubble! (color version)
Painting how I see music has been one of my favourite projects lately. It's an excellent creative challenge to translate what I see in my head into my style of art! The green swoops around the outside definitely turned out more leaf-y than I had intended (I was aiming for firework-y), but I'm still very happy with it overall!
In some of the rare times where I create something small and cool, I love sharing it with other people :)
For context, I've been working on a video game and started looking into some loading screens. I got carried away a bit, but I loved the capabilities and parameters I could experiment with here!
Since my game is set in a Mystery Solarpunk world, I was aiming for brighter and lighter color schemes :).
I was surprised with how beautiful all the parameter combinations can be!
Code
So if you want to try it yourself, feel free to check out the following repo:
You will need to download Processing in order to run it. It's a nice open-source sketchbook language built on top of Java to draw some cool visuals :)).
If you end up creating something with it, please tag me so I can see your creations! B)
Also, if you happen to have a GitHub account, I would love it if you could star the repo as well (but no pressure on this!) :))

I’ve been having fun turning my VR art into AR paintings lately.... really makes me feel like I’m just casually living in the future. this scene is the landscape from ‘Reality Is’, and it was brought into AR with Figmin XR!
if you want to see how this was made, I’ve got a process video here. (everything you see was hand painted and hand placed in virtual reality)

Xenobia Bailey is a trash alchemist, a single stitch, urban crochet aficionado, designer, artist and community activist, whose practice industrializes the visual aesthetic of “Cosmic-Funk,” practiced by African-American homemakers since Emancipation, into utilitarian “Funktional” design. She has shown internationally, with such institutions as Creative Time, the Sharjah Art Foundation, and numerous U.S. Embassies. Her work is held by numerous museums, as well as in academic, corporate, public and private collections.
A Journey Into JoyStep 4 — Week 4: The Guide
Step 4 encourages us to find a guide/mentor or something (externally or internally) to help us overcome/heal/process the root cause(s) of our refusal (step 3) so that we can turn towards the call (step 2) rather than continue to turn away from it.
With this step, it’s time to seek guidance and/or take a deeper look within to help clear the fears,…
