the plan is ariel is the daughter of a senator who wants her to become a lawyer but she really wants to pursue history because she loves museums and she has a secret band with some of her college friends on the side and eric is the son of the college’s president who wants to study marine biology but his mom wants him to become a politician (and he will have a therapy dog). the two meet somehow (maybe he’s failing history and grimsby his professor, recommends ariel idk) and fall in love. and yes im keeping the face claims from the live action because halle is the perfect ariel and jonah is the perfect eric. however, i might change the face claim of ariel’s friends just based on age and stuff but we will see!! im really excited to start writing it and getting back into fanfiction

vanitas working at the sanctuary just makes me laugh because any time riku gets swarmed by the bats he makes it a point to record it to send to roxas. vani promised lil bro that hed send anything like that to him cause shits funny as hell

vani rescued a bat from drowning (coughfloodcough) and its the one bat that Does Not want anything to do with riku. hes a nippy bastard and Will Bite, vani is the only exception and hes the only one who can handle him and not get bit

ventus being an announcer is genius i love it, he hypes sora up so much for his shows and they play off each other So Well! i can see him being like... head waiter? idk if manager would be the right word here

and by extension xion would probably be a mermaid too! i can see her making necklaces/bracelets/etc out of shells around the aquarium and they sell them at the gift shop, though she def gives some directly to some kids during her shows

Mark hated his new summer job.

The employees in the offices around him sure knew how to push his buttons. Sending Mark on a coffee run for them to then decide they miscounted. Making him fetch their lunch to then change their mind once he had already gotten to the deli. Mark had lost count of how much ‘overtime’ he had already done in just a week. He hadn’t had a single lunch break yet, opting to work through in any hope that he could leave early. Poor chance that was. SMLabatories were truly using Mark to their advantage.

Today though, Mark had barely seen a soul. It was as if his floor was a ghost town. He hadn’t had any paperwork dropped on his desks, no task list in his email either. It was only when he caught sight of Wonshik leaving his office with a styrofoam box labeled ‘HAZARD’, did Mark finally learn the reason why. Wonshik looked surprised to spot Mark at the small desk in the corridor, realization dawning on his face soon after.

“Ah, Mr.Lee. It’s a pretty big day for us, work wise, today. Our focus will be on the new subje- research project for the rest of the week - If you’ve not received a task list or anything to do, feel free to brush up on your studies.” And with that, he was gone quite quickly leaving Mark standing there with furrowed brows of confusion.

That was the nicest he had been spoken to so far... Mark had also noted that Wonshik looked nervous, jittery, and stressed. Mark just brushed it off, leaning back in his office chair to squeeze his fingers into his pocket in search of his phone. Teeth gnawed onto his bottom lip as he glanced at the time ‘12:34’. Lunchtime. Mark perked up, with no work... He could have lunch today.

At that thought, he grabbed his satchel bag and slung it over his shoulder, locking the desktop and strolling down the hallway with a newfound happiness at the thought of food. Remembering where the canteen was was a feat of its own though. He was sure there was one on this floor, He just couldn't remember where. Even if he just found a secluded space to eat his sandwich and read his Deadpool comic, Mark would count that as a win. The visitor pass around his neck swung as he walked, trying different doors with no joy. Until he stumbled across a barely lit hallway.

Mark had seen enough zombie movies to know that any corridor of a science facility that looks like this should be off limits. Still, he glanced over his shoulder for any one who may get him in trouble before turning the corner. He walked slow, footsteps a dull thud as he attempted to be as light on his feet as possible. All the doors so far were locked but Mark’s keen eye was drawn to the glowing hue emitting from a door at the end. It’s almost as if someone hadn’t fully closed the door behind them.

He crept toward it, his index and middle finger gently pushing the door the rest of the way open. He didnt spot it at first, focused on closing the door behind him without any creaks, then being distracted by the different diagrams and formulas written on a whiteboard next to the door.

Mark’s hearing heightened at the sudden sound of sloshing water. It was a gentle sound but it was enough for Mark to finally register that he wasnt alone.. That he felt like he was being studied.

“You’re new.” A quiet, melodic voice called out into the silence.

Mark was drawn to the sound, slowly turning around as if captivated. Though the colour drained from his face as he finally caught sight of the center piece of the room.

“W-What the fuck?...” He choked, feet nearly stumbling over one another to press his back against the door.

In the very center of the room sat a large rectangle tank filled with blue murky water, spilling over the edges as the occupant of the tank moved within it. Mark’s eyes were glued to the fiery orange fins and scales, as beautiful as they were, he had never seen such a thing. In place of legs, there was a thick tail with fins at the very end. The tones of orange and red complimented the person’s skin tone beautifully, shimmering in the water. Mark’s frightened, but curious, gaze drifted higher. Noting that the tail blended into a regular human torso, flawless, naked navel and he couldn’t fight the blush on his face at the white bikini top that covered you. It took him a while to register what he thought he was seeing… A..mermaid?

Little mermaid au where Ariel is a working class girl living in a college city. She wants to go to college and be part of their world but her father says no and she can't afford it without him. He wants her to work in the family business instead.

One frightfully cold winter evening she takes a detour passed the college campus (as she often does out of curiosity) and stumbles upon a severely drunk young man laying in a snowdrift clad in nothing but a toga. To her great relief she succeeds in waking him but he is obviously far too drunk to get home by himself (he can barely see straight) and she decides she can't leave him there to (possibly) die. With an arm around her shoulder they begin walking towards the (thank god) neraby adress he (again thank god) manages to mumble.

He seems to clear up as they walk and she starts talking to him to keep it going. About his courses, about what party he came from, about his family. He goes on a long and loving (and half unintelligible) rant about his family that warms her heart enough to make the effort of half carrying him home feel worth it. After a wild moment of not finding his keyes (please don't let them be in the snow somewhere!) she finally gets him into his room and pushes him into bed.

The warmth is a relief from the winter cold. She tucks him under the covers to get him warm and turns to leave when his arm gently grabbs hers. His eyes are closed but he speaks to her sofly. "Stay a bit please, and tell me about yourself, I've done all the talking."

Hesitantly she sits on the bedframe and begin to tell him a little bit of everything. About how she grew up by the ocean. About how her sisters drive her insane even though she loves them more than anything. She's just about to tell him about her college dreams when she notices he's fallen asleep.

How precious he looks she thinks to herself and without really considering why she starts to sing him the lullaby her mother always sang to her. She strokes his hair as she sings. Soft locks against her fethery touch. With the final notes of the song she gets up to leave. When the lamp comes off he becomes nothing more than a silhouette in the darkness, comfortable and safe in bed. She smiles to herself and hopes that maybe one day they'll run into each other again. And with that she closes the door and leaves.

When he wakes up the next day, hungover as rarely before, the girl who saved him hovers in his mind like a ghost. Barely more than a dream but he can't shake the feeling she was something special. He never got a good look at her but the memory of her voice echoes in his mind. With no idea how to find her, no number, or adress or even a description of her appearance he's left with nothing but the hope that one day that one sweet voice will find him again. And then he won't let her get away so easily.

overview

Ariel travels to England much to her senator father’s dismay for her first year of university. He believes that she is studying to be a lawyer but she's actually is pursuing archaeology. On the side, her and friends, Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder, started a band called "Under the Sea" that play at her aunt Ursula's underground club every weekend.

Eric, the son of the university’s chancellor, is struggling to convince his mom not to become a politician and rather study marine biology. To help him get through his third year is his therapy dog, Max and his favorite professor, Grimsby. While Eric is failing his archaeology, Grimsby assigns Ariel to be his tutor and soon the two connect over their parents’ want and what they actually want.

I'm super excited to write this as a huge Little Mermaid fan and also I'm so hyped for the live action. As noticed with the cast, there are a few changes. Because this takes place in college, I had to change characters based on age for the humanization of Ariel's friends, but other that, the cast stays the same.
