Hello TWDG community! <3 I’m currently looking for a handful of roleplay partners to rp twdg. I’m aiming for someone that’s interested in doing oc x canon doubles— with a literate to novella roleplay style. (I can get fairly descriptive so I’d rather have a partner that does the same.)

Me after seeing Barbie: I'm so normal. It's so great I'm really normal about it I love how it speaks to both little girls of today and the little girls still inside us older generation bc we never got to heal from all the anti-women shit we put up with, especially in school environments to the point that even seeing the colour pink made some of us nausea

Me, as soon as I get home and am alone: I literally need to redo my whole wardrobe forget "hot girl summer" its fucking Barbie summer where we wear cute clothes and care for our bodies and do our shit and carry ourselves with so much confidence that anti-feminists and problematic people literally cower in fear

Also me, when I'm alone: (giggling as I flip through my bookshelf) She's Barbie (she's the daughter of his enemy and has 0 experience with powerful people yet she can literally twist him to her wishes). He's just Ken (he's the most powerful man in like the fucking mafia or something) She's Barbie (she's his assistant, the only one who can deal with his bullshit and that's by giving him 10x more bullshit back), he's just Ken (he's a multi billionaire who runs his own company) She's. Barbie. He's just Ken.

I am not legally bound to this but I keep feeling a need to find a common theme w all the fatt PCs per player so here is my not-peer reviewed analysis (obviously not completely universal due to the sheer number of characters):

dre characters - unnassuming but surprising when they follow their convictions to shocking or violent ends. may or may not sleep/eat/die

ali characters - blorbos and icons. Romance is important in shaping the characters

janine characters - macabre, fully in her aesthetic wheelhouse or explorations outside of that comfort zone

sylvi characters - little guy and or really cool and or have family issues

art characters - stoic, explorations of religious worship, or a guy completely out of his depths may or may not alter life as we know it (i dont know enough about duvall)

keith characters - fun and funny and not taken seriously. unsurprisingly follow their convictions but to unexpectedly sad ends

jack characters - wide variety, multiplicity, convincing in-character role play, one brit allowed

Not planning on elaborating on all of these but for Jack wrt multiplicity (some c/w + marielda characters spoilers below 😱):

to answer your question quickly: yes! i'm planning for there to be unique qualities to certain infected strains, but i'm not sure what that'll be - the aesthetic of the upside down will be a heavy factor in how i design the infection!

this is gonna turn into a ramble but honestly, i've barely begun the zombie (worldbuilding) part of the au, mostly because it's not really my forte, characters are! it doesn't mean i'm not confident in my abilities to make an interesting world- it's just that i'd have to do a whole lot more research to make a world i feel is cohesive and fits the characters well because it doesn't come as naturally to me :) after i finish off the character sheets, i'll dedicate some time into outlining more about the apocalyptic world!

under the cut, i'll provide my main sources of inspiration that i'm going to be drawing from!

regarding the entire au as a whole, here's some games that i'm most likely going to be drawing inspiration from for what i'm thinking of:

days gone (currently playing <3): weapons, open world, concept of "drifters" and camps, government play in reference to the infection, science involved in how infection spreads

the last of us i + ii (games): the communities, concept of immunity, use of environment to show not tell, stages of infected, fedra involvement

left 4 dead 2 (the fuckin goat): concept of immunity, special infected concept, tightknit group of survivors that are competent,

resident evil (the og): las plagas similarity, infection resiliency, government involved in infection

the walking dead (franchise): child character references (carl, clem + the ericson boarding school)

other notes: as i said, all of these are games :D video games are my absolute favorite form of storytelling! in particular, l4d2 and tlou games have stuck with me since i was a kid so i have a huge soft spot for them! these aren't really set in stone ideas, just what i had in mind when making this au

honestly, i'm not gunning for originality or anything - i'm just hoping the world i create is interesting and fits the characters well in context! i've always been much more interested in characters than the worldbuilding in regards to general storytelling, but i do believe characters have a heavy hand in making the world feel lived in + interesting, which is why i'm trying to make a world around the characters :)

Development

Fuchsia went through numerous phases in development, going from Mallow to Anthea, being named Reese in Rough Sketch, then becoming Scarlett, then Crimson (from where her design is solidified), and finally Fuchsia. Each step of development mellowed her out, going from goofy bully in her first conception to only occasionally a prankster but still fairly edgy in RS to mostly serious, if not somewhat quick to anger, in ICT.

What's it like to date Clem?

//One word. Wild.

Clementine is confident in her body and skills, and aesthetically compliments most people she goes out in. She's more likely to remain in the background than stand out, mostly as a personal choice.

She will do whatever she has to to keep you safe. Even if that means leaving.

Clem is affectionate, but respects boundaries. She'll normally be able to tell if she can get away with plopping herself down in your lap and kissing you stupid.

She is an unapologetic flirt. She will give bedroom eyes to you if you're wearing something nice.

Clem is not used to being treated like a lady and spoiled. Her little heart longs for something like that, but she'll never ask for it. Gentle touches make her heart flutter.

She is a cuddler in bed. If you were on opposite ends, you will find at some point she's nuzzled up into your chest. She's warm to cuddle with, like a blanket out of the dryer.

She wears your shirts. Hers now.

She will kill for you if someone is trying to hurt you.

If there's a thunderstorm, she may seek you out. Her tail will wrap around part of you, and be reluctant for you to go outside. She's afraid you'll leave and not come back.

Clem is a bottom/switch, and open to almost anything. She'll let you mark her up, show the world she's yours.

She doesn't like to bother you with her problems, but may tell you if asked... then tell you she's handling it so not to worry.

She'll dress up nice for you.

If she's out and sees something that reminds her of you, she'll get it if she can afford it.

palisade 28!

first of all, the intro—loved it. honoring black screen, reclaiming rhythm, acknowledging that post-combustor it still doesn’t feel like anything’s changed, but pushing forward anyway… (also i am so curious about this pirate rap station. who are the other hosts?? what are their shows like??)

i know the particular game of the interview scene was that brnine couldn’t gain any rhetorical ground, but ali absolutely slayed. incredible rp. truly a horrifying situation and brnine still landed some fantastic lines.

also want to make some sort of comparison to fever-dream and nightmare sequences—not quite sure what to call it, but i’m thinking of the kind of scene where a delirious character seems to hallucinate old arguments. coming under judgment, past and present blurring. (and how do we understand what it means to leave palisade?)

“stolen cameo” is a cool ship name but it became much funnier when it was revealed that they had kidnapped brnine to put them on tv

the question i had during that sequence was what’s asepsis doing while brnine’s in prison, and by the end of the episode i still had that question but even more so. what… the fuck! (also, didn’t brnine have some drones with them? does asepsis know where they are???)

eclectic opposition is The keith character name lmao. that’s just all of them already

jokes aside this character rips and i’m so excited for more terrible sleuth energy. black sequined poncho. “eclectic, and easily.” i have such a soft spot for noir aesthetics pasted over another genre. also very excited to dig into why all these hooks are “leap says”.

brief reflection on crew dynamics in brnine’s absence: figure stepped up, thisbe stepped in. which is really cool to see for both of them. figure took the lead in the scene and called the meeting to order, which really speaks to their freedom and confidence post-clem. thisbe didn’t do that, despite being technically in command, but she redirected the conversational dynamic in the way brnine might’ve tried to (her telling cori that vaping is bad for you is maybe my new favorite thisbe line… okay, no, it’s still second to “spoilers, corn is a grass”, but it’s up there.)

really excited for figure’s plotline! talking to gur, seeing ghosts everywhere, bringing partial palisade onboard—they’ve leveled up and i’m so here for it. (also thinking about the past bleeding into the present, or maybe it’s better to understand that as a sort of recognition of continuity—same people, only changed. (which appeared a few times in this episode.) anyway, no new life can free you from your past, etc etc.)

also: partial palisade!!!! coming back onscreen!!!!!! we LOVE to see it

my main feeling after the latest faction turn was that somehow, post-combustor, nothing had actually changed. the blue channel got a huge win! the hugest! and then the cause went directly back to reacting to (and losing to) the authority, rather than actually making moves (cf outro of 25). i’m hoping we see more of a shift on the blue channel side, at least—it seems like the table is still set for that. having partial palisade on board could be really powerful (plotwise/thematically but maybe also mechanically). who knows—things could take a while to develop. (but also let’s drop another pillar!!!)
