Also I cannot express how much I love job systems in games, does anyone know any good games with versatile job systems? The most I know is Final Fantasy, Octopath Traveler, Fantasy Life and I suppose Fire Emblem
Oh and I guess Miitopia as well

Remembering British film director, Michael Apted, who passed away January 7th, 2021, aged 79.
According to his obituary in The Guardian,
"He was a director who moved with ease between socially conscious documentaries and feature films with a special focus on female achievement".
His career began as a trainee at Granada Television, Manchester, where as a researcher he worked on the first of the ground-breaking documentary series, Seven Up, in 1964, originally conceived as a one-off episode as part of the World in Action programme. He also directed episodes of Coronation Street (he described Violet Carson and Pat Phoenix as 'the biggest divas in Britain'), and The Lovers, with Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox, along with other television plays and programmes.
In Hollywood, he directed a number of acclaimed, diverse and successful movies, including Coal Miner’s Daughter (seven Oscar nominations with Cissy Spacek winning Best Actress), Gorky Park, Gorillas in the Mist, one James Bond (The World is not Enough), and Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
He continued to steer the ‘Up’ documentary series each seven years, which checked in on the fate of a number of British children from different classes and backgrounds, from the age of seven. The most recent, 63 Up, screened in 2019. He said, "The series was an attempt to do a long view of English society. The class system needed a kick up the backside."  He described the series as the most important thing he had ever done.
According to The Guardian;
"...Though the Up films were internationally acclaimed, winning Apted the coveted Peabody award in 2012, he mourned their skewed portrait of women. "The change that’s gone around with women in the workplace and women’s place in society is the most significant socio-political event in contemporary culture," he said in 1995. "I missed it. I only had four women out of the 14 and all four of them settled into domestic life very quickly"... In his good-natured way he prodded and challenged the trio of working-class women in the show, who gave as good as they got..."
He intended to continue the 'Up' Series for as long as he was able, and 70 Up was proposed for 2026.
In 1995, Michael Apted appeared on a documentary by fellow director Stephen Frears, along with Alan Parker, A Personal History of British Cinema. He was typically forthright, did not seem to think particularly highly of David Lean's epics including Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia, and opined that Ken Loach's Kes was the best British film since the war.
Perhaps fittingly, 63 Up was Michael Apted's final screen credit.

Duppy Echoes on Telemarketing
I am trying to write more so please forgive me for any grammatical or clerical errors.......
Tumblr media
I will start this by saying, I am not reviewing this yet but whatever you do watch this. Secondly sorry for the image it is a bad screen grab from my phone sadly.
Tumblr media
When I graduated i was desperately looking for work, and generally the places that where hiring where telemarketing type institutions. A lot of them where straight up con jobs, just like the institution at the heart of the aforementioned documentary. The company CDG, works by soliciting donations, from people on behalf of Police organizations. The people, the work environment and actual work remind of places a lot of down on his or her luck college grads find themselves working for a few years. Or the only option for a lot of people with criminal records, little to no education or experience. Many Americans are slaving away in some cold cubicle warehouse doing work similar to the stuff you see in this show. For context I graduated with a graduate degree to a fairly shaky market, with a degree in Non Profit management, and on every job board, Linkedin post the only people who ever responded where these weird shady murky corporations. Corporations whose business models never made any logical sense. It was either that or these save the world campaign groups that had you working for nothing at all, standing around passing flyers and screaming slogans. It was at this time that I was depressed but very intrigued at the nature of the job market and how it is full of these strange traps that coerce people into spending their lives doing things they clearly deem immoral.

the hardest part about this very moment is that we are so lost, no matter who we are or what any of our statuses in society today are. the wealthiest are so far detached from society that they could not comprehend the struggles of the average person, no matter how hard they tried. the rich strive to be the wealthiest, and they consume and overtake and they help funnel more and more into the pockets of their friends and those above them. the middle class barely exists as we once knew it. the poor are suffering even more than ever before and they are trying their best to make ends meet, find a new job, a better home where they don’t have to spend their entire month’s worth of paychecks on rent, and trying to feed themselves and their families. the impoverished are pushed so far down the barrel, and their screams are more muffled than ever. we’re all sardines in a tin can, trying to reach our way out so we can go back to the ocean and avoid being eaten. but it’s too late.

It's kind of refreshing to go back to the blunt honesty of 1800s slumlords and plantation owners, before all the rationalizations and obfuscations of liberal capitalism.
The whole idea of people being inherently lazy comes from them seeing that if people weren't working for them on their mines or farms or factories they were subsistence gardening and hunting.
"How dare those ingrates want to provide for themselves and be left alone instead of producing bulk goods to stimulate the economy! How can they see all these resources out there and not want to exploit them to depletion? Really, we need serfdom/slavery, these brainless animals need to be taught discipline."

whenever right wing people talk about “parental rights” they are talking about property rights. they are arguing for further political and legal enshrinement of their children as their literal actual property

I saw this on FB today and I wanna try and express something about it. Like, you know the curbcutter effect? Where when curbcuts are put in it benefits everyone (bicyclists, people with baby strollers etc) and not just disabled people?
There is also whatever the opposite of the curbcutter effect is. And this is that.
This isn't just anti-adhd/autism propaganda... this is anti-child propaganda.
Kids have developmentally appropriate ways that they need to move their bodies and express themselves and sitting perfectly still staring straight ahead is not natural or good for ANY CHILD.
Don't get me wrong, I was punished unduly as a kid for being neurodivergent (and other types of kid will ALSO be punished unduly for it... Black kids come to mind) and thus UNABLE to perform this -- but even the kids who ARE able to perform this type of behavior are not SERVED WELL by it. They don't benefit from it.
This is bad for everyone.
The idea that bc some kids may be capable of complying with unfair expectations, those expectations don't hurt them... is a dangerous idea. Compliance isn't thriving. Expectation of compliance isn't fair treatment.

"But if college was free, then people would abuse that and get useless degrees" hell yeah I would! If I could go to college without debt I would make it my job to get a degree in every little thing that interested me. I'd get a doctorate in film studies. I'd have a bachelor's degree for every science I like. I'd try to learn at least 5 languages with varying results. I would learn something "useful" like coding and then follow it up with a ""useless"" degree like art history. I'd be the world record speed run holder for getting every degree possible.
But I can't afford college without going into massive debt, so instead I spent the last 5 years trying to figure out what I am passionate enough about to consider going into debt over, because unfortunately being passionate about everything is extremely expensive to pursue.

All hail the landlord king
“Upon taking the throne, Charles became the largest individual landowner in Britain, presiding over around 700,000 acres of various types of land together worth an estimated £5bn. The king’s property empire doesn’t just include palaces like Buckingham (£3.9bn), Hampton Court (£960m) Kensington (£500m) and Balmoral (£95m); it extends all the way to business parks and even small rented cottages. Of the top ten most valuable residential homes, the monarch owns six.
“Residential homes are not the only valuable buildings in his portfolio. He also owns the Tower of London (visited by 2m tourists last year), which is worth around £880m; in addition, the monarch earns £28m per year from estates overseen by the Duchy of Lancaster. Overall, Charles’ array of homes, historic landmarks and tourist attractions are collectively worth £20bn ...
“The king owns 17m sq feet of retail and office space, including 10m sq feet in London alone. This includes seventeen retail parks, all of Regent’s Street and multiple shopping centres. The businesses that rent property from the Crown include 7 McDonald’s franchises, 13 Next stores, 10 Marks & Spencer supermarkets and 6 Primarks. Within Greater London, the monarchy owns more commercial real estate than almost anybody else – only the Canary Wharf Group owns more.
“Notably, the monarchy’s control of Regent’s Street in London is more than simply passive renting; the Crown Estate actively dictates which shops are allowed to operate there. Charity shops, travel agencies and cafes are among the businesses effectively banned from renting on Regent’s Street.”

Hierarchy & Class - Pixiula Ecology & Sociology
Hierarchy Structure
For Pixiula Class is determent by a mix of ones own intelligence, ability to form connection and network, skills, creativity, and wealth. when it come to the role of leader Pixiula tend to have two co-rules witch are often a pair of twins, with each one getting there own title and having to deal with certain aspects of ruling.
The Pixiula Hierarchy is generally set up in the following list: Monarchy > Oracles > Court-royals + Nobility + High Priests > Court-nobles + Priests + Scribes > Artisans + Merchants + Performers + Worriers > Servants + Farmers + Hunters
- hierarchy diagram to be added -
The Monarchy
Pixiula hierarchy structure generally includes a pair of rulers at the top usually given the titles: Nicnevan & Elphane, though it is typically not a absolute monarchy but is in fact a constitutional one. the Monarchy decisions can be overruled and they can even be removed from power: by ether the Oracles if the majority of them chose to or if most people of the domain call for an election.
The Monarchy is often not hereditary as it is more based on nominations and so technically anyone can become the next Monarch but usually the Nominations are ether: members of the current royal family / Court-royals, Nobility or even Court-Nobles.
The Monarchy tends to change in a few ways: death, retirement or voted out via election, if the monarchy is alive when they lose there power and title they can leave a nomination for the next Monarchy but they are not allowed to actively talk and partake in the meeting about the nominations thought they may listen in.
As the Monarchy is a set of twins when one is replaced the other must be as well, thought when it comes to the new Monarchy only one twin need to be nominated but both are often discuses when the choosing of the next monarchy is in prostration.
The nominations for the Monarchy are often done by the Oracles, and a collation of random picked people from all class levels, in witch they will hold a large meeting to discusses and pick who will be ruling next, these discussions can sometime last several days.
The Nicnevan & The Elphane
The Nicnevan and The Elphane are the titles for the current ruling twins Monarchs of a particular domain, thought they both hold a lot of power they perform different roles and govern different parts of the domain and it's society.
