Grey Swan I - Birds of a Rose
Tumblr media
The Divine Flock. Some call them crazy, some even dangerous. Some even say the cult is hiding dark secrets. But, in all your life you have yet to find one. After all you should know should there be any dark secrets: you are a member after all! A member, not only of the Divine Flock, but also of the Avis Academy, the best school the cult has. Your life is quiet and follows a strict routine, at least until two Strays from the outside, the normal, world are allowed in the normally so closed off grounds and as a newly appointed Wing it is your job to keep an eye on one of them. With their arrival some of those dark secrets may finally come to light…
You ARE not playing as a BIRD!!!
DEMO https://dashingdon.com/go/13119
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Dark Academia.
Moniker for MC: Wing MC.
Genderselectable MC: cis male or female, trans male or female. However due to growing up in a cult, MC wont know that trans is a thing/what it means, this is something MC can learn about. The same goes for sexual orientation: play as gay, bi, straight, aroace or ace, but be prepared for consequences.
Pick your level of devotion: be a devout follower of the teachings of the Divine Flock, reject it partly or wholly, or simply not care. All of it will have consequences.
Choose one of various school clubs, your volery, and get an unique storyline. Ranging from dance to school security, to managing your social media page.
Important people: Your flock, a group of younger pupils you were responsible for before the Strays arrived. You may not be their Wing on paper anymore, but you still hold a special place in their heart! They do miss you and are looking forward giving you a present on your birthday!
Your volery: whichever volery you joined, you are going to met pupils that are just as enthusiastic about your chosen interest as you are! Some more than others.
Your parents. It’s another question if the relationship between you is good, but important it surely is!

Grey Swan II - Hawks and Doves
Tumblr media
Unless otherwise stated you are playing as a normal human! Two legs, two arms, internal organs, hopefully a brain too. We will see how much of this organ stays intact after state propaganda, will we?
Someone once said that you were the most happiest youth in the world after the Great Heartbeat, that had shattered the old world. Earlier you would have agreed in a heartbeat, wearing the light green uniform of your state youth organisation. But now? When war has come to Avistrions shores and news reels show only destruction ?
Choose your gender, way of thinking and stance while growing up in a religious dictatorship on the giant island Avistrion. Be a devout follower of the Divine Flock, the only thing that survived the earthquake that devastated the earth. Or be the Vulture, trying to rip it to shreds, while wearing the badge of youth leadership… where will you be when war strikes your so closed off country? Which side will you be on when it ends? Will you even survive long enough to see the outcome?
Moniker for MC: Fugol MC.

Wisteria Birds (fantasy, drama, angst)! Currently on pause.
You are beautiful, trained in art and music. You are deadly, trained in the unique weapons that no one except you can use. You are dying. Kept alive by the very same thing that keeps you save from others abusing their power over you… You have no rights. But you can do whatever you want, even kill, without having to fear any consequences. You are the most pleasant death that anyone can wish for. You are an artwork. And all you are supposed to be is look pretty, show of your owners wealth. But oh, you could become so much more…
You play as a highly specialised trained entertainer… an Artwork, expensive companion to the rich and noble ones in Aklant, a country with rigid rules and unspoken laws, strict class divide and obsessed with anything that shows how rich they are… or at least let them appear rich. Artworks themselves are outside of this all, freed from all those social chains, but not seen as human… maybe its time to change that? Or leave the status quo as it is, up to you!

Undead Heart
Astarion x Y/N - drabble - 1.4K WC
Masterlist
Warnings: necromancy, defensive reader, Astarion being a supportive little baby (he is so precious), doubt, reassurance, flufffff, kinda angst? idk
———————————-
Astarion laid his head on your chest, smushing his face in for good measure. You let out a breathy laugh. It was still early, the birds hadn’t graced the winds with their songs yet. The sun hadn’t peeked over the horizon to start the new day. You held Astarion close, one hand gently caressing his soft curls at the base of his neck - the other drawing circles on his bicep that was holding your waist. For a creature who didn’t sleep he appeared pretty dead to the world currently. You listened to the little breaths that left his mouth. You watched his eyes move beneath his closed lids. You loved looking at him, especially when he was like this. His face was calm and smoothed over with rest. Nothing could hurt him here, you wouldn’t let it.
“Staring is rude.” he mumbled into your chest, somewhere between sleep and wake.
“It’s not staring, it’s admiring.” you whispered into his ear, kissing the side of his face softly. You could feel a begrudging smile form on his face for a moment before his breathing evened out again.
You slowly slipped away from him. You were a necromancer, of unknown origin. Your past was muddled but you had found histories of yourself at the citadel from the far reaches of Faerun. You had lived a life. Full of good and bad but your future was yours alone to define. You were ancient, you never aged. The years, for the most part, had been kind to you. Your powers were unmatched and your beauty was unparalleled. Slipping out of the tent you walked out of camp through the fog of the early morning. You could feel the sweet dewdrops kissing your feet as you walked barefoot to the cemetery you had passed yesterday before setting up camp. The souls there called to you. They wished to be released, to visit one another after an eternity apart. As you walked to the center of the graveyard you felt your powers start to flow from your palms. Black smoke and glowing green light emanated from you, swirling and twisting about. Figures started to arise from the graves, transparent and ghostly. You kept your concentration as the ghosts mingled. Laughing and dancing with one another as if they were in the midst of a ball. Your power enveloped the graveyard in a shimmering light, as if millions of little sparkles had graced the small event you created. You walked through the endless rows of graves, quietly admiring everyone. Out of all the things you could do with your abilities, this was always your favorite. Reuniting old friends, families, lovers. Even some enemies who decided to call truces due to their undead circumstances. Everyone always looked so happy, so relieved. The ghosts could see you just as you could see them. One floated through you before another held your hand, spinning you about to the quiet tune that drifted through the air. An enthusiastic bard playing his instrument, as if he had never put it down all those centuries ago. You knew the sight was strange, and that people often found you strange yourself. Death did not scare you. You were its equal and enjoyed teetering that otherworldly line.
You had never shown this power to Astarion, concerned he would find it odd. You had been together for  a few months. He knew you were ancient and powerful but beyond that you tried to be quite vague. You continued to smile and laugh amongst the ghosts, feeling relieved to use your powers. In battle you were skilled with necrotic and psychic attacks along with general melee fighting but this is truly what you enjoyed using your powers for. Bringing peace, unity. After a while though, the air shifted. You felt eyes watching you. You searched for the source, eyes finding a very much awake Astarion leaning against the graveyard gate. You jumped, sucking in a shocked gasp. You made the shimmer fade, the swirling slow, the smoke dissipate. The ghosts slowly drift back to their respective graves, solemn looks on their faces. No amount of time living or dead would be long enough with each other. And yet, you felt their appreciation radiate to you. You felt pale, almost sickly. Astarion was going to think you were some sort of freak, you just knew it. You slowly made your way to him, keeping your head low and arms tight across your chest to protect yourself from some unknown threat.
Astarion’s face wore a slight frown, his eyebrows drawn up in a furrow “Little love, whatever could be the matter?”
Your heart raced at the pet name. “How long have you been standing there?” you asked, walking past him, heading back to camp.
He trailed after you, “Long enough. You looked like you were enjoying yourself.” he quipped. There was no malice in his tone, nor teasing but it made you cringe internally anyways.
“I wish you hadn’t.” you whispered, walking into your tent.
Astarion felt confused, he tried to follow you into your tent but was stopped by a similar shimmering force at the entrance of your tent. He stepped back, he could still see and hear you but he couldn’t get to you, couldn’t touch you.
“I would like to be alone.” you said picking up a book and sitting down, eyes never meeting him.
“Darling…” Astarion said quietly, noticing a few tears on your face. “Please let me in.”
“Why?” you spat, you wanted to fill your heart with anger in preparation for the negativity you were sure you were about to receive.
“I let you in.” he spoke softly, you knew he wasn’t just talking about his tent. He had shown you every facet of himself, the least you could do was let him into your damn tent.
He slowly pulled the book from your hands as he sat down, attempting to take them in his own. You pulled away quickly, crossing your arms over your chest. He felt a pang of hurt within him but pushed it aside. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Well, get on with it…” you huffed  out shakily.
“I have to say… that was pretty powerful magic you were doing back there…” you snorted a bit at his comment. ‘If only you knew’ you thought.
“Freaky, right? Strange? Unnatural? Unholy?” you rambled off sounding angrier by the second. Your walls were building back up at breakneck speed, preparing for the worst.
“My sweet, why do you sound so upset? I thought what you were doing was quite… amazing. Honestly… everyone looked so elated, thanks to you.” your eyes flicked to his.
“I know it’s weird to be so… involved with the dead. I never wanted you to see me doing anything like that… but they sounded so sad, so lonely…” you tried to explain yourself.
Astarion chuckled, causing you to snap your head up. “My precious, you do realize I am undead? I think I might understand better than anyone why you wanted to give those souls a reprieve. It was… sweet of you.” he smiled at you tentatively, hesitantly going for your hand. He smoothed his thumb over the back of it.
You wanted to trust him, to believe him. Yet a voice still tugged at your mind. “You think so?” you whispered.
“Darling you gave them a few minutes of life, do you know how sacred that must be for them? And you did it out of the kindness of your heart. Now that, is truly meaningful. That shows the soul you possess.” Astarion moved his other hand to cup your cheek, tilting your face to be level with his.
Your eyes were glossy, “I just don’t want to be too different. Too strange.”
“You are quite strange… it’s quite possibly my favorite thing about you.” he smiled, his fangs peaking out a bit. “Do you know why I rest on your chest so much?”
You shook your head ‘no’ at him.
“I do it so I can listen to your heart. I feel almost as if mine beats with yours for the first time in centuries when I hear it. Strong. Compassionate. Wonderful.” you tilted your head into his hand, kissing his palm.
“I love you.” you said quietly.
Astarion smiled, you had only said those words to each other once before when your emotions became too much to hold inside.
“And I you, endlessly my strange little love.” he kissed you deeply yet gently before laying you both down. He settled in his usual spot, listening to your heart. Strong, even, calm.

She is happy now Part 3/5
Modern Aemond X (Ex Girlfriend Reader)
Warnings after the break

She is happy now Master List
Modern Aemond Master List
Full Master List
Banners by @arcielee
Warnings: Alcohol use, mentions of cheating, angst
You enter the red keep hand clutched to Cregans arm. You hadn't been here in a very long time. The Targaryen family haven't lived in the old castle that their family has owned for generations, but they did use it for large gatherings and celebrations. The old bedchambers set up like elaborate hotel rooms. Balls and parties taking place in the old throne room with the local wealthy elite The throne was moved to the citadel museum years ago, but when you're standing in this room, it feels like you're standing in a piece of history.
Being Aemonds girlfriend for all 4 years of high school afforded you invitations to many of these events over the years. As always, the hall was decorated lavishly as was Alicent's superpower. She always had an eye for the exquisite.
"I don't belong here, aemond."
"Of course you do. You're my girl" he laughs
"We've only been together 3 months, and this is not a party my family would ever be invited to." You look around the hall self-consciously
"I hardly belong here myself. All these picture perfect people and then me, the disfigured nerd"
"Aemond!" You smack his shoulder."Don't say that!"
"So let's not belong together, ok?" He shyly grabs your hand and guides you further into the room to join the other guests.
You sigh and Cregan looks down at you.
"Looks like the seats are assigned. Let's find our place, ok?
You nod at him and let him lead the way. People are standing around in pockets talking. Servers walk around with trays of drinks, offering them to wedding guests as they pass by.
"Drink miss?" One such server offers you. You grab the glass of wine and start chugging it.
"Hey take it easy there darling"
Cregan lowers the glass. "We are going to have fun, ok? Dancing, food, and a little bit of alcohol nothing crazy "
You smile sheepishly. "Can't I just get black out drunk, and then you carry me home?
"That wouldn't be good" Heleanas voice rings out behind you.
"Hey, Hel," you turn around and give her a hug. "we were just weighing our options on how best to celebrate. I was thinking of going vintage Aegon"
Heleana snorted at this "no no no I have pictures to take and I can't have you all sloppy" she pushes your shoulder.
"Speaking of that" she takes out her phone and points it at you and Cregan. "Smile love birds!" Cregan wraps his arm around you and you smile looking towards Heleana. She starts snapping some shots.
Behind her, you see that familiar mop of silver hair. He is so tall his head bobs above the other heads as he quickly gets closer. His mere presence causes your head to sag.
"Sister, let me take a photo of you with your.... friends, " he says, sounding a little nervous while holding out his hand towards Helena.
"Yeah, ok. Thanks, Aemond. " Heleana gives you an unsure look before handing him her phone and moving across to stand on the other side of you, placing her arm above Cregans on your back, making you the center of the photo.
Aemond takes a few pictures and then he looks right at you.
"Absolutely beautiful"
You two lock eyes and you freeze. Until you feel Cregan squeeze your waist.
"Come on hun. heleana says our table is over there, " he said, pointing to the far side of the room
"Oh um ok" you barely squeak out as you let Cregan lead you away on shakey legs.
"Well, he's an odd duck. Certainly brazen. " Cregan half laughs, but you can sense the tension in his voice.
" That's a term for him, I guess." You nearly growl.
"I thought you said you were over him?" Cregan says voice low, but you can hear he's annoyed.
" I am, I just want to simultaneously set him on fire"
"Hmm" he scratches his beard. "Is that what you were trying to do? Set him on fire with your eyes, is that why you couldn't take them off of him?"
"Creg..." You stop walking and close your eyes. "I do not want to fight with you. I especially do not want to fight with you because of him of all the people in the realm"
"I'm not trying to start a fight. It's just.... hard to ignore the way you two..... the way the air changes when your near each other." He says pinching his nose.
You go to say something, but he interrupts you. "I'm going for a smoke. I'll be right back. Our table is right there"
He leaves, and you take 2 more steps toward the table and then see a server. You grab 2 cups of wine off the platter and go sit down by your name tag.
"Vintage Aegon it is"
"We have to get him back to his room, or my mom is going to actually kill him," Aemond says between huffs, trying to pull a very enebriated Aegon to his feet.
"I want to go back to the paaaaarty," aegon slurs, trying to free himself from his brothers grip.
"Aegon!" You giggle,"your mother is in there!"
Aegon slouches against Aemond. "Ok, my room then, but no making out or anything gross between you two." he wiggles his eyebrows.
"Shut up, Aegon," aemond says, pink slowly spreading across his cheeks and the tips of his ears.
You successfully get Aegon situated in his guest room within the keep, and both you and Aemond collapse laughing against the door in the hallway.
"I'm sorry, my brother is an idiot. " he says, looking down and scratching the back of his neck.
"He's not an idiot. Not a genius either, but at least he's amusing?" You shrug your shoulders at him standing up. "Let's get back to the party. Your mom might question it if you're both missing"
You reach your hand out to him, and he grabs it, pulling himself up. You turn to walk down the hallway, but he pulls you back into his chest. He takes a deep breath and then gently places his lips on yours.
Your heart beats wildly in your chest as he pulls away, smiling gently and putting his forehead against yours. "That was my first kiss," you say elated.
"Yeah, mine too," he says breathy, "was it.. good?" He asks nervously
"Yes, very," you snuggle up closer to him, grabbing the lapels on his tux jacket. "How about you? Was it everything you thought it would be?"
He let's out a long breath "and more" as he leans in to kiss you again.
You had already sucked down your two glasses of wine and had picked up two more, and Cregan still wasn't back. You sat at the table, your chin resting on your palm.
You hear the clinking of glasses as Alicent hightower-targaryen stands by the table that is placed in view of all the other tables where Aegon, Cassandra, and the wedding party members are sat.
"I just want to say a few words about my firstborn son and how lucky I feel to finally be a mother-in-law." You roll your eyes and take another big gulp of wine.
"Aegon has always been a free spirit. As free spirited as a young man can be. That's why when he told me he was going to marry Cassandra, I knew it was nothing short of true love. " she raises her glass "to Aegon and Cassandra. May this marriage be everlasting may you be eachothers greatest support, may you trust, love, and confide in one another. May your days always be filled with honesty and devotion. Congratulations, my baby boy!" Everyone cheers, and you finish off your 4th glass of wine for the night.
Aegon yells out a disgruntled "mom!" And laughter spreads around the room. Cassandra's father Borros stands up and starts his toast, but you couldn't be bothered to listen. You pull put your phone and text Cregan
"Where in the seven hells are you?"
"Outside. Be in soon"
You let out a huff. This was typical between you and Cregan. When you got in a disagreement or argument he would go out under the guise of smoking a cigarette and play on his phone for an hour until he calmed down and then would come back like nothing ever happened at all. You knew that wasn't the proper way to take care of issues, but avoidance was your go-to defense mechanism, and Cregan avoided most negative interactions. He was an easy breezy guy.
"you don't want to talk to him about it? Find out what actually happened?" Heleana asks you gently handing you back the tub of ice cream you were sharing between you.
" I know enough of what happened. He was naked she was naked, and he looked ike I just rose from the dead, " you say, violently jamming your spoon back into the carton.
" I understand that but don't you want him to explain himself? At least for your own closure? Yell at him maybe? Call him out? Anything?"
"Nope. As far as I am concerned I never met an Aemond Targaryen and I'm thankful for it. Guy sounds like a clown"
Heleana sighs. " I just want you to be able to heal and feel better. I heard closure is a necessary ingredient to that recipe"
"Heal? Hah. He didn't hurt me. He hurt himself. I'm fine. The second I saw that all feelings turned off for him" you stare ahead hard at the TV
Heleana looks at you with a disbelief on her face.
"Just think about it ok?"
"Nothing to think about. It's over he's gone, and I'm fine"
The room goes quiet again, and Aemond stands up, holding his glass out.
"Aegon and Cassandra, a love like the two of you share is a rare and valuable thing. It is irreplaceable and changes you forever. It only takes a second to lose it. So I ask you both whenever you make a decision, be it innocuous or extremely important, ask yourself how this will affect the other. If the answer is ever negatively don't do it. No matter what it is. Most things can be replaced, but a love like this can not. A love like this is palpable. Tangible even. One only needs to stand in the presence of the two of you together to feel how the air noticably changes. That can not be replaced, duplicated, or imitated, and if it is lost, trust me when I say you can spend a lifetime in mourning. That is real, and the value of that is incalculable. Aegon and Cassandra" he clears his throat."I wish you a marriage filled with love and all the blessings that come with that. But the thing I wish you the most of is time. A long, long time to spend together and in love. Cheers to Aegon and Cassandra. " he quickly sips his drink and sits back to down to a round of applause.
"You can spend a lifetime in mourning," you whisper to yourself.
You run both your hands down your face in an attempt to keep your emotions bottled up.
Are you sad? Angry? Confused? You're not even sure anymore.
But you realize Heleana was right. You need closure.your not sure if it is liquid courage or if you have finally had enough, but you are going to get it from him tonight. Whether you have to chase him down or beat it out of him,
You are going to get your closure from Aemond Targaryen tonight.
A/N: Closing in on the end here! It has been so much fun writing this and interacting with you all! 💗 Thank you for reading! I should have part 4 out in the next few days!

above us only sky / Aemond Targaryen x Allyria Dayne (OFC)
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2
A/N: Hi there - this is the first fanfic I’m posting anywhere online since a break that lasted roughly three years. English isn’t my first language. Also, in this chapter Aemond and the OFC don’t even meet yet. Idk, I have a good feeling about this. Maybe you would still like to give it a read?
Summary: A historian stumbles over a lost record of the ‘Dance of Dragons’, aka the Targaryen civil war. He excitedly tells his boss about it. We get to see the first part of those records, set in 128 AC, a few months prior to Viserys’s death and the events of episode 8 of HotD. Aemond attends a family meeting.
Warnings: Slight fat phobia at one point, mention of NSFW themes, canon-typical violence later on.
Words: 2,8k
I have a lot more to say, but I promised myself I will keep it short. So I will leave you to it, and keep my comments till the end.
To the honored Archmaester of the Citadel,
And my good friend and fellow scholar –
Dear Perestan,
Often have we discussed the history of house Targaryen, and the three colorful and turbulent centuries spent under their reign.
You know me to be a true scholar, determined to pass on the most accurate version of events, and therefore always cautious not to rely too much on any biased source, be it an overly piteous septon, a certain court fool who could have done with a bit more piety in his life, or an old and withered bearer of the maesters’ chain, much like ourselves. I am a scholar, and I do my best to only tell of what is true – I must plead with you to keep this in mind while you study the transcripts of my most recent source, for otherwise it must sound all too much like hogwash and old women’s tales.
But from all I know, this is the most truthful retelling regarding the fates of Aemond Targaryen and one of the women – no, I cannot say it otherwise; the woman in his life. It holds little bearing for the overall history of Westeros, but it shall be answering some questions we have long asked ourselves. Inconsequential as it may be, since stumbling across this little booklet in the dusty depths of the Starfall library, I find myself returning to my research with renewed vigor every morning.
I ask you, dear friend; if even we, as life-long students of the Dance, could be so blind, what other tales and truths may rest in other libraries strewn across the continent?Mayhaps another maester in another time will unearth those. For now, the both of us have to be content with some new knowledge regarding the tale of Aemond One Eye and Allyria, the Sunken Star of Dayne.
Your good friend,
Yandel
From The Diary of Allyria Dayne:
Today I saw my first dragon. We had finished our morning meal and were about to depart, when we all heard it – a strange noise in the distance, at first like the cry of a rooster, a piercing, solitary note, before it developed into a full roar.
I have never heard anything like it – no wounded boar or stag, not even a cornered mountain lion can scream like that.
It died down again after some moments, and we all were silent.
Servants and guards alike stopped in their steps for a breath of time, just like the horses and birds and beasts of the forest.
It was a bit like we were all children, each waiting to be coddled and told this was nothing to worry about.
Though of course, no words like those were said.
The animals seemed to shake off their stupor a moment earlier than us – horses neighing and thrashing around, and suddenly the sky was dark with swarms of birds, each sounding their own alarm as they made their exit.
I was looking up at that storm of wings and fathers, so I was among those who actually saw the dragon.
Our tross is composed of many riders, wheelhouses and even city guards at this point, and yet wherever they stood today, they all were touched by the shadow of the giant beast's wings.
For just a moment I saw it in its entirety; a dark outline against the bright morning sky, terrible and mighty. I wish I could describe it more closely, but the next moment it was already gone, like a bad dream in the morning sun, so neither I nor anyone else got a good look at it.
But the chaos in the camp remained – and weirdly enough everybody immediately got to work to set things straight again, without even losing a word about the dragon.
Chests had spilled their precious cargo over the rotting leaves, along with fallen crates full of provisions. One of Lady Fowler’s court dresses is stained with mead now, and it smells like it, too. One of my nephews cut his hand on some broken pottery while he fell, and there was plenty of crying, snot and blood and dirt all mixing on little reddened face.
He was the one who asked it, too:
“What was that, mother?”
And just like that, the spell of silence over the whole company seemed suddenly broken.
CIty guards were cursing the dragon, and so we learned its name – her name.
Vhagar.
“My old nan used to tell tales of Balerion, the black dread, but I can’t think he could have been much worse than that bronze beast”, I heard one of them say, and another told one of our guards:
“They used to fly out only over Blackwater Bay, where they would disturb no one but the fishes. Out to Dragonstone and back, and it only took one ring of the bell, or maybe two,”
His eyes were shining when he said it, as if what he really wished to say was:
‘They terrorize us small folk, us ground-dwellers, but I would not find it all that bad, if only I was one of them.’
I asked him ‘why do they come here now?’, and for a moment he looked at me all gruff under the rim of his helmet and over his beard.
“Fought with each other, m’lady. Or so they say. So one half stay on Dragonstone now, and the other here, and avoid each other like the plague, that they do.”
He snorted and spit out while I was still trying to make sense of this.
“The dragons?”, one of our guardsmen asked him, and he looked confused.
“The dragons were the one who fought?”
The city guard laughed. “Aye, you could say so. Dragons they do call ‘em… Nah, lad, I’m talking about the Targaryens. Rhaenyra and her black lot on the ‘Stone, and in King’s Landing we have our Greens.”
He probably could tell he was not making much sense to us and fell silent. Lady Fowler called for me then, and I bid them goodbye, and as I left I only heard some more talk of princes and dragons and that we were lucky to have none of that down in Dorne.
I’m not much of a believer, but in terms of bad omens it does not get much worse than that, I suppose.
Vaghar, the scourge of Starfall, they call her at home, – though I assume a beast like that , nearly 200 years old, gets called ‘scourge of’ in a hundred and one places.
And this very same dragon is the first I see of King’s Landing. This morning, we were 5 days from the city, and this evening as I write this it’s five days, still.
An axis on the Fawnton’s wheelhouse broke, and by the time it was fixed it was nearly turning dark.
I must admit, at least to me there is something good to it, too; Soren wants to ride ahead with some men, maybe to hunt, maybe to stock up on provisions, and Lady Fowler has allowed me to come with.
I think I’m a bit of a disappointment to her – not another daughter to adorn her happy, pretty family, but a thorn in her side.
She disagreed when I found the courage to ask her about it last week.
“You come after your mother, Allyria. Maybe not in looks, but your spirit is all the same. And that is just fine with me. I must confess, more than once I have almost called you by her name, too.”
I don’t remember my mother as well as I wish I could, but tonight I miss her terribly. I miss home, and grandfather, and my little brother. But above all, both those living and dead, I miss Raydan.
And that is what drives me forward. I still believe that the only way to get justice for my big brother’s death leads through King’s Landing.
Aemond
“You stink of dragon shit”, prince Aegon greeted his younger brother, before grabbing a maid that had tried to sneak past him unnoticed.
“What are you waiting for, girl? Get my brother a cup as well.” Then he let go and she hastened away, lips pressed shut and eyes blank.
Aemond stepped aside to let her through, looking after her as he pulled off his gloves.
“Watered down”, he reminded her, and the servant girl turned again, eyes widening a bit as she stared at his eyepatch and the scar, before she hastily curtsied and fled the room.
“You know I don’t”- “You don’t drink wine during the day, yes”, Aegon interrupted. “But I also know you usually crack during these nice family gatherings, and then you can even be fun to be around”.
He grinned, and Aemond found himself grinning back. He and Aegon had not much in common – but they were family. The blood of the dragon. The True Blood, as their mother had hammered in, time and time again, from the moment she deemed them old enough.
For Aemond, that time had come a bit earlier. On dragon wings, and with a blade and searing pain.
There was that phantom itch under his eyepatch again, and he balled his hand shut to keep himself from scratching at it.
He had told them, back then, that he deemed it a fair trade – an eye for the biggest dragon alive.
Nowadays he thought it more than fair – what was an eye lost, for the insight he had gained?
Otherwise he might have grown up as spoilt and unfocused as Aegon.
The doors opened again and their mother Alicent entered, along with their sister Helaena and their grandfather Otto Hightower, followed by Sir Criston of the Kingsguard.
“You may leave”, his mother told the other two guards who had been waiting in the shadows like pale silver ghosts.
They left, and a moment before the doors closed, the servant girl entered, carrying the cup of wine for Aemond, keeping her gaze on his shoes and fleeing from the room the second he had taken it from her.
He was not much of a gambler, but he was willing to bet his eye – or maybe one of his brother’s eyes – she had waited for the queen to arrive.
In his mother’s presence Aegon would not dare to touch them, the servant girls all knew that.
They all sat down at the table, and Aemond did his best to follow along as his mother and grandfather recollected the events at court this week; Which ones of their highborn sheeps, always flocking to the throne had died, had given birth, would soon marry. Who came and went, and what had happened elsewhere in the realm.
Aemond paid little mind to it – there was only one family in this realm he cared about, only one that really mattered.
The rest of them were just sheep, no matter if they called themselves nameless peasant, son of a long line of nameless peasants, or Lannisters or Tully or Baratheon.
His family had dragons, and dragons ate sheep, whether they walked on four feet or two.
Alicent maybe was a Targaryen in name, but in name only. She would never understand, for she had never seen King’s Landing and all of Westeros shrink beneath as you rose up into the sky, until even the mightiest stronghold looked like you could squash it with your thumb.
And so she chose to bore him and his siblings with the fates of their people.
“Then there is the arrival of Lord and Lady Fowler later this week. They bring some other Dornish nobles with them – a son of the Yronwoods, and a lady of the Daynes” – “Sweetstar Dayne?”, Aegon interrupted.
Alicent frowned, looking down at the raven message in her hands again.
“Sweetstar?”, Haelena asked. “Do they call her that because she is nice?”
Aegon grinned. “No, because she’s fat.”
Aemond choked on his wine.
“Aegon!” Alicent's voice cracked sharp as a dragon whip.
Helaena flinched at the loud noise, as she usually did.
Otto cleared his throat.
“It’s not Lysa Dayne, and not one of her daughters, either. Just a girl from a minor family branch they want to marry off. Ellyn, Alana, something like that.”
“Why?” Aegon asked.
Aemond began to wonder if he was dragging this out on purpose, to taunt their mother or simply to steal everybody’s time.
Maybe his brother had nothing to do but drink and whore himself into an early grave, but Aemond himself had other plans – for this afternoon, and life in general.
“Family died of Spring Fever. Or was it Dornish Cold? I’m not sure, though Lysa and Aspin Dayne sent a letter to inform us – something her surviving relatives always neglect, even though the Crown has an interest and a right to know what is going on in any keep in the realm, even if it’s just an inconsequential sheep shack with a wooden palisade and a handful men to it’s banner.”
Aemond had closed his eye and had barely listened, but that seemed like a good time to interrupt his grandfather.
“Shall we discuss something that actually matters instead? Is it true Rhaenyra is pregnant? Again?”
Otto and Alicent shared a glance.
“We have not had a raven carrying such news yet”, Alicent then stiffly replied.
“Strange. It is all the keep seems to talk about these days.”
Aemond leaned forwards in his chair. “Should the crown wish I could ride to Dragonstone, find out if there is any truth to these rumors.”
“The crown wants you and Vhagar to stay here. To serve. By your brother’s side.”
“And father’s”, Haelena added. No one paid her any mind, except Aegon who rolled his eyes about his sister-wife.
Aemond was not ready to back down.
He would follow his mother’s and grandfather’s wishes, but it could not hurt to remind them once in a while he could do more than fight on the training grounds, and Vaghar could do more than shit and feed and sleep.
“We might actually be of better use elsewhere. I don’t know if you noticed, mother, but neither I nor Vhagar particularly care for council meetings or dances.”
Aegon snickered.
“Imagine, though. Take mother’s seat in the council, and have Vhagar look on through the window, and maybe then all those little lordlings would learn to hold their tongues.”
Alicent looked at Aemond, as if she had not even heard her other son’s words. Then, suddenly she reached out and grabbed his hand.
“Your time will come, and once it does, you might wish for slow times like these to return. Use this time to prepare. Do not squander it-“ Finally, she took her eyes off him, Hightower-brown eyes meeting two Targaryen-lilac ones instead.
Aegon lowered his head in faux-acceptance, though Aemond was sure his brother had probably not been listening and certainly did not care.
Mother turned back to him again, and Aemond evenly met her gaze.
“And you, Aemond… do not squander it by forgetting to live. There is a whole world outside the dragons pit and training grounds, and in time you shall find something you enjoy in it.”
Aemond felt his lips stretch into a sour, ironic smile.
Dear mother. How could she understand that the rest of the world only saw a missing eye and the rider of Vaghar, death-bringer and city-burner, where she saw her darling son?
The eyepatch meant the high-born ladies did not scream or faint when they saw him, but none of them could stand to even look at him for long.
That did not mean he didn’t know what the world had to offer – if you had the coin to pay for it, and as a son of the crown, his pockets were deep. Music and booze and women, pretty girls in the houses along the streets of silk, who would try not to wince when they looked at him, who always preferred if he took them from behind.
“Go to dragonstone. If you must.”
For a moment, he was speechless as he looked first at her, then at his grandfather and brother, before he slowly rose off his seat.
“But know that I ask you not to. You have mended yourself into this family’s sword and shield over the years. But even the sharpest blade can fail when used in the wrong way.”
So she would let him go, and grandfather too, judging from the lack of protest. He considered it for a few moments, before he slowly sat down again. His mother had said it, and in his heart of hearts he knew it to be true: Now was not the time. Not yet.
Aemond sat down again.
“No, mother. I shall stay and listen.”
Alicent returned to her notes about taxes and Tyrells and the king’s name-day tournament, and Aemond did his best to listen, though soon he found himself wondering if that afternoon, he should try to fight not one, but two men of the Kingsguard during practice.
End of Part one
A/N: Hm. Would honestly be kind of surprised if anybody makes it till here. Well, just in case you did: Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! While you read it, it probably became clear WHY this thing needed some sort of prologue - I spent way too much time on the ‘a song of ice and fire’ wiki and set myself the goal to write a story that is mostly canon-compliant. The great thing about Westeros is that it is huge. There are hundreds of noble families where for entire centuries we don’t know what they were up to. The terrible thing about Westeros is that it is awfully detailed, and you first have to fine a corner where your story can bloom. Is it entirely canon-compliant? Definitely not. You would probably have to be a hardcore fan to point out most of the discrepancies.
The other reason I formatted the story like this is, that this story lives somewhere on the middle ground between the TV show and the book, and the comments from the historians were some of my favorite parts about the book.
Last but not least: Please hit me up if you like Aemond, or just HotD in general, and you want to talk about it! Let me know if you like my writing, or if there is something you would like me to write about Aemond (or some of the other characters on the show, this is very much not a one way street!). I’m honestly just excited about being able to return to Westeros again, and I’m excited to share my excitement with other people - and because I am very excited, I will overuse the tagging system a bit, to get this baby *slaps roof of this fic* out there. Is this considered very rude? Idk. Let me know?

Things to Do at the Summer Sunset Festival
Summer Sunset is celebrated all throughout the Kingdom of Lucis, and thus, several traditions from the different regions of the kingdom are represented within Insomnia. The royal ball is, of course, the Crown City's main attraction during festival season, but it is by no means the only thing to do. So be sure to pack accordingly!
Here are just a few of the activities that will be available to participate in during the week leading up to the main event. This is not an exhaustive list — rather, just a taste to get you excited!
Chocobos — Wiz and several of his assistants from Wiz Chocobo Post have graciously offered to bring several of their finest, liveliest, cutest birds all the way from Duscae to partake in the big city festivities! Come pet, feed, and learn how to ride on the backs of these lovable critters. The chocobos will be traveling a long way to come celebrate Summer Sunset with us, so be sure to give them a warm welcome!
Chocobo races — Of course, the birds aren't just visiting to be pet! Chocoback riding newbies and experts alike are welcome to participate in the races, and there will be prizes for the winners!
Farmer's market — A tradition hailing from the more rural regions of Lucis, based in the festival's historical roots as a celebration of the changing seasons and coming harvest. Come to the central park to grab some fresh produce, or try foods from traditional Galahdian fare to the seafood of Galdin Quay!
Dance workshops — Planning on attending the ball, but worried about your two left feet? Worry no more! Citadel staff will be holding open house workshops to teach the basics of ballroom dance. You'll be certain not to step on any toes by the time of the actual ball.
Painting stalls — Several artists will be stationed throughout the city to help send you on your way with some unique artistic flair. Need something to entertain your little ones? Get their faces painted! Looking for a souvenir? Commission our city's local artists!
Shopping — Of course, there will be no shortage of ways to spend your money in such a bustling metropolis as Insomnia. Whether you're looking for a souvenir of your trip or still need a last minute outfit for the ball, there are plenty of places to find what you need, from small mom 'n' pop shops to full on department stores.

It's been forever since I dabbled in the Penumbra Podcast, which is a shame since it still remains my favorite piece of fiction. After catching up/ relistening to choice episodes a few times, I have a couple theories I'm confident in! Been out of touch with the fandom, so I have NO IDEA if I'm just repeating what's been guessed a thousand times.
In the Junoverse: it HAS to be Ruby that sent the distress signal to dark matters, yeah? I have no idea why, but I figure we're lining up to learn more about our friendly alien car and it was described why none of the carte blanche crew could've done it.
Second Citadel: relistening to the demonic dance, there was a falcon heard cawing when Arum met up with Damien post-Tristan encounter. Directly before that, in his usual anxiety prayer fashion, he mentioned when Saint Damien talked to him at Fort Terminus. Sir Tristan the Cold most definitely got his intel from there, not Saint Damien. Whether he can talk to his bird or was just hiding in a bush is unclear.

Hi lovelies,
Today’s entry is a little different from usual in that rather than talking about about something, I thought I would just share a few of my favourite extracts from ancient literature. I hope you all enjoy!
Homer- Iliad Proem:
“Goddess, sing me the anger, of Achilles, Peleus’ son, that fatal anger that brought countless sorrows on the Greeks, and sent many valiant souls of warriors down to Hades, leaving their bodies as spoil for dogs and carrion birds: for thus was the will of Zeus brought to fulfilment. Sing of it from the moment when Agamemnon, Atreus’ son, that king of men, parted in wrath from noble Achilles.”
Homer- Iliad 19:
"As Dawn, in saffron robes, rose from the stream of Ocean, bringing light to gods and men, Thetis reached the ships bearing Hephaestus' gift. She found her beloved son groaning aloud, his arms round Patroclus' body, while his men stood by, weeping bitterly. The shining goddess came and took his hand, saying; "My child you must let him go, however great your sorrow, and leave him here, dead for all time, slain by the will of heaven.”
Virgil- Aeneid 2:
“Laocoon, the chosen priest of Neptune, was sacrificing a huge bull at the holy altar, when suddenly there came over the calm water from Tenedos (I shudder at the memory of it), two serpents leaning into the sea in great coils and making side by side for the shore. Breasting the waves, they held high their blood-stained crests, and the rest of their bodies ploughed the waves behind them, their backs winding, coil upon measureless coil, through the sounding foam of the sea. Now they were on land. Their eyes were blazing and flecked with blood. They hissed as they licked their lips with quivering tongues. We grew pale at the sight and ran in all directions, but they made straight for Laocoon. First the two serpents seized his two young sons, twining round them both and feeding on their helpless limbs. Then, when Laocoon came to the rescue with his sword in his hand, they seized him and bound him in huge spirals, and soon their scaly backs were entwined twice round his body and twice round his throat, their heads and necks high above him as he struggled to prise open their coils, his priestly ribbons befouled by gore and black venom, and all the time he was raising horrible cries to heaven like the bellowing of a wounded bull shaking the ineffectual axe out of its neck as it flees from the altar. But the two snakes escaped, gliding away to the highest temple of the city and making for the citadel of the heartless Pallas, the Tritonian goddess, where they sheltered under her feet and under the circle of her shield.”
Euripides- Bacchae:
Dionysus is glad when someone in the mountains falls to the ground from the whirling bands, wearing the sacred cloak of fawnskin, hunting the blood of goat-slaughter, the joy of eating raw flesh, racing to the mountains of Phrygia, of Lydia, and the leader is Bromios. Eugi! The ground flows with milk, flows with wine, it flows with the nectar of bees the Bacchic god holds high the blazing flame of the pine to and lets it stream from the shaft, fragrant as the smoke of Syrian incense with running and dances he spurs on stragglers, rousing them with his call, tossing his long, thick hair in the breeze amid the joyful cries he bellows: “On, bacchants! On, bacchants! Wearing the splendour of gold-flowing Iaccus. Sing praise to Dionysus with the sound of the deep booming drum. Joyfully singing Eugi!" to the god of that cry. With Phrygian calls and incantations, when the sweet holy music of the pipe sounds out its holy notes.
Ovid- Love and War:
Lovers all are soldiers, and Cupid has his campaigns:
I tell you, Atticus, lovers all are soldiers.
Youth is fit for war, and also fit for Venus.
Imagine an aged soldier, an elderly lover!
A general looks for spirit in his brave soldiery;
a pretty girl wants spirit in her companions.
Both stay up all night long, and each sleeps on the ground;
One guards his mistress's doorway, one his general's.
The soldier's lot requires far journeys; send his girl,
the zealous lover will follow her anywhere.
He'll cross the glowering mountains, the rivers swollen with storm;
he'll tread a pathway through the heaped-up snows;
and never whine of raging Eurus when he sets sail
or wait for stars propitious for his voyage.
Who but lovers and soldiers endure the chill of night,
and blizzards interspersed with driving rain?
The soldier reconnoiters among the dangerous foe;
the lover spies to learn his rival's plans.
Soldiers besiege strong cities; lovers, a harsh girl's home;
one storms town gates, the other storms house doors.
It's clever strategy to raid a sleeping foe
and slay an unarmed host by force of arms.
(That's how the troops of Thracian Rhesus met their doom,
and you, O captive steeds, forsook your master.)
Well, lovers take advantage of husbands when they sleep,
launching surprise attacks while the enemy snores.
To slip through bands of guards and watchful sentinels
is always the soldier's mission - and the lover's.
Mars wavers; Venus flutters: the conquered rise again,
and those you'd think could never fall, lie low.
So those who like to say that love is indolent
should stop: Love is the soul of enterprise.
Sad Achilles burns for Briseis, his lost darling:
Trojans, smash the Greeks' power while you may!
From Andromache's embrace Hector went to war;
his own wife set the helmet on his head;
and High King Agamemnon, looking on Priam's child,
was stunned (they say) by the Maenad's flowing hair.
And Mars himself was trapped in The Artificer's bonds:
no tale was more notorious in heaven.
I too was once an idler, born for careless ease;
my shady couch had made my spirit soft.
But care for a lovely girl aroused me from my sloth
and bid me to enlist in her campaign.
So now you see me forceful, in combat all night long.
If you want a life of action, fall in love.
Homer- Odyssey 24:
Past the ocean-stream they went, past the white rock, past the portals of the sun and land of dreams, and soon they reached the field of asphodel, where spirits dwell, spectres of worn-out men. Here they came upon the spirit of Achilles, son of Peleus, and of Patroclus too.
Messermoon- Choices 40:
(Okay strictly speaking this one isn’t actually from ancient literature entirely- I just really love it- @little-shit-soph)
After Patroclus fails to convince Achilles to fight for the Greeks.
After Achilles lets Patroclus face the Trojans without him.
The great warrior tilts his head back and asks the gods to “grant that he may return unharmed.”
Bring him back to me, he begs them.
Bring him back to me.
Bring him back.
Gods are a Muggle invention and from what Regulus can tell they are rather unreliable when it comes to keeping people safe. But then, he’s not sure that magic has ever really protected anyone he loves either.
He stares at the door a long time after James leaves.
Bring him back to me.
Bring him back to me.
Bring him back.
But Wizards don’t know how to pray. And Regulus doubts the gods would listen even if they did.
There you have it! These aren’t all of them so maybe I’ll do a part two at some point. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Dragonstone loomed larger with every stroke of the oars. Davos could see the shape of the mountain now, and on its side the great black citadel with its gargoyles and dragon towers.  Davos II - pg 133
Davos arrives at Dragonstone.
I went with a bird’s eye view of the Shayala’s Dance since I had already done a picture of Daenerys leaning over a ship’s railing last week.
It was an interesting challenge.
figuring out what Dragonstone looks like. I didn't see any versions that had it built on the side of the Dragonmont as described in this chapter. I admit I probably made the Dragon mount too large but rule one of A Song Of Ice and fire is when in doubt think big.
Mr. Martin describes Dragonstone's towers as sculpted in the shape of dragons. So, I went with that. The distance allowed me to fudge the details.

These curated experiences promise an unforgettable journey through the heart of Sri Lanka, unveiling its hidden gems and iconic landmarks. In this blog post, we will delve into the enchanting world of Sri Lanka sightseeing packages, exploring the must-visit destinations and unique activities that await.
Historical Marvels
Sri Lanka's history is as captivating as its landscapes, and sightseeing packages often include visits to some of its most significant historical sites. One such gem is the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 11th century. Explore the well-preserved ruins of palaces, temples, and stupas, each telling tales of a bygone era.
The iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress is another must-visit destination. Rising dramatically from the central plains, this ancient citadel offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Climbing to the top, you'll encounter intricate frescoes, a colossal lion's paw entrance, and a sense of awe at the architectural brilliance of the past.
Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, is often included in sightseeing packages. Home to the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic, it provides an immersive experience in Buddhism and showcases traditional Kandyan dance performances. The annual Esala Perahera, a grand procession featuring elephants, dancers, and musicians, is a spectacle that should not be missed if your visit coincides with this vibrant festival.
Natural Wonders:
Sri Lanka's diverse ecosystems offer a haven for nature lovers. Sightseeing packages often include visits to the lush tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, where you can witness the tea-making process and savour freshly brewed Ceylon tea. The scenic train journey from Kandy to Ella is a highlight, winding through mist-covered hills and verdant landscapes, providing postcard-perfect views at every turn.
For wildlife enthusiasts, a visit to Yala National Park is a must. Home to a variety of animals, including leopards, elephants, and numerous bird species, a safari through Yala promises an exhilarating adventure. Wilpattu National Park, with its unique landscape of natural lakes known as "villus," is another fantastic option for wildlife safaris.
The coastal areas of Mirissa and Trincomalee beckon beach lovers with their pristine shores and turquoise waters.
