if kai hadn’t become overhaul i imagine he would have become a doctor who’s just insanely stressed and done at all times. like he’s living off black coffee, falling asleep at his desk, constantly rubbing his temples, short tempered and blunt with everyone— he tries to be professional with his patients but he doesn’t have the patience a lot of the time which make people avoid him or ask for another doctor even though he is the most qualified and trustworthy of all. he’s rude but he’s not evil. he just wants a day off to do nothing.. except maybe obsessively scrub a few blemishes on his kitchen counter or windows. he’s a simple man with simple wants. bonus chronohaul in this au too, the only thing keeping him sane is hari’s presence and reassurance

post overhaul arc chronohaul where hari has some… realisations about he and kai’s relationship (and about kai as a human being, who knew staring at a prison cell wall for a few months would make you understand that you were manipulated and taken advantage of for years) and he does. not. like it,, so when he breaks out he finds kai because of course he does, he loves him and couldn’t live without him all the same, but he’s also angry and bitter and just a bit deranged, he lost so much too and who’s fault is it? so he’s like “i’ll never not love you and you will always have me and i’ll always be here to take care of you should you choose it, always.. but you WILL repent,” and how exactly will he do that, kai thinks, bitter, helpless— well, how does anyone? through blood, sweat and tears. cue dynamic change and living in hiding and learning how to be vulnerable and telling the TRUTH finally and persisting despite, despite, despite. it’s punishment for both of them, they were doomed from the beginning.. oh i’m thinking so hard…
