Eddie is green
Green like the army uniform he used wear as a disguise and a shield from his problems at home and feelings he wasn’t ready to feel, grounded and stubborn but growing and nurturing like the earth-green, (the jealous one green),
And Buck his blue
Blue like the baby he never completely grew out of, Blue like all those years growing up sad and heading out on his own trying to find himself alone, blue like the ocean that nearly killed him the day his best friends son became his son too,
Ocean meeting Earth, something untameable and unpredictable being held still while still being allowed to move and something unable to move and going dry being watered and encouraged to grow, that fact that they choose to run into fires together every single day, and the fact that Buck was struck by lightning, a literal fire from the sky, dangling in mid air until Eddie helped him to the ground, the fact that Eddie was buried alive under ground and nearly drown, but the water itself was how he found his way out and up to air, the air that they both seem to breathe easier around each other than anyone else in their life, something about the elements guys, something about the colours, it feels, something

eddie making buck chris’ legal guardian if he dies is still so funny to me years later because like. bro if this was for normal reasons you would have picked someone with less than a 70% chance of being taken the fuck out right there with you

Christopher, during the finale, immediately after he and Buck are reunited: Hey Buck, at least it wasn’t a tsunami 😁
Buck switches from sobbing hysterically to laughing hysterically
Buck: You are the love of my life kid, you know that?

EDDIE: Chris is turning into you.
BUCK: He is not turning into me.
CHRIS: I am pretending that I don't want long-term commitment when actually it's that I have abandonment issues.
BUCK: I was wrong, he is turning into me and you should be very worried.

The moment that will haunt me forever is Eddie standing in the back of Buck's hospital room, exhausted and overwhelmed to the point that he physically cannot answer Christopher's questions. That moment when Christopher asks about the tubes and he just shakes his head in frustration because he just can't. He can barely stand to look at Buck, he certainly can't bring himself to explain all of the machines that are Buck's only lifeline because he can hardly bring himself to face that reality at all.
This poor man is so drained—from staying close at the hospital, from arguing with a stubborn kid who's not supposed to be there, but who deserves to be, from trying to take care of the rest of the team, from trying to pretend he's not falling apart.
This man. This beautiful, loving man—who would do anything at all for his son, who is exceptional at communicating when it comes to Christopher—he couldn't bring himself to do more than shake his head in frustration when his son asked this question.
The amount of pain and fear that implies in Eddie is utterly heartbreaking.

[ID: 6 gifs of Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz from 911 episode 7.04, "Buck, Bothered and Bewildered."
GIF 1: Buck turning towards Eddie after learning about all the things Eddie and Tommy are doing, saying, "Well, listen, I-I think it's great..."
GIF 2: Eddie looking up at Buck expectantly.
GIF 3: Buck continues talking, nodding and giving Eddie an earnest smile, sounding like he's fumbling through. "...you know? You-you can't have enough friends, right?"
GIF 4: Eddie agreeing with Buck, looking down into the sewer to watch Ravi's progress before he looks up at an indeterminate spot, thoughtful as he says, "Right. Y’know, it’s like that thing when you meet somebody and you just…click, y’know what I mean?"
GIF 5: Buck turning looking at Eddie from where he was looking into the sewer, looking slightly crestfallen and wistful even as he smiles, saying "I do."
GIF 6: Buck looking away from Eddie slowly as he says, mostly to himself, "I really do." He turns to look back into the sewer.
