that reminds me i need to get back into like making full on meals cause years of living in [gestures at my childhood living situation if you know you know] made me culinarily inept, and i know how to make and cook things but i just dont have the library of recipes or meals to make, and a big reason why i dont start making my own meals and just eat processed stuff is a twofold of:
since i no longer have a roommate i am not incentivized to cook a full meal
because i dont have a lot of experience with a lot of dishes, i worry about going through the hours long efforts it takes to make a meal only to find i dont like it/it tastes bad
so i often just entirely avoid making meals for myself for those reasons, topped with that im always a rather tired person and so the idea of spending hours just to do one thing (make a meal) when i could expend that little energy to multiple things (draw, sleep, play video games, go for a walk) also keeps me from cooking. i dont know if anybody else has this experience but this is just something on my mind

Lemon and Herb Roasted Mackerel, Pepper and Potatoes

The skies may still be greay, and the air chill, wherever you are, but this fragrant and colourful Lemon and Herb Roasted Mackerel, Pepper and Potatoes will bring a taste of Provençal Cuisine (and thus a bit of sunshine!) to your lunch or dinner table! Happy Friday!
Ingredients (serves 1 or 2):
2 medium potatoes
2 small carrots
1/2 long red bell pepper
1 tall, fluffy sprig fresh rosemary
6 sprigs fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lemon
1 (160-gram/-ounce) fresh mackerel, gutted and prepared by your fishmonger
salt and freshly cracked black pepper
1/3 cup dry white wine, like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc
Preheat oven to 200°C/395°F.
Rinse potatoes, carrots and bell pepper.
Dice potatoes, cut carrots into thick chunks, and slice bell pepper. Combine all into a roasting tin. Break the rosemary sprig in two. Add half of it to the vegatables, along with halve of the thyme sprigs, and the bay leaf. Season with coarse sea salt and black pepper. Drizzle with olive oil, and toss well, to mix.
Cut half of the lemon into slices, and cut these in halves. Set aside.
Season the inside of the mackerel with salt and black pepper, then stuff with remaining rosemary, thyme and a few lemon slices. Sit the mackerel in the middle of the tin, on top of the vegetables, and drizzle with olive oil. Scatter remaining lemon slices all over, and thoroughly squeeze the juice of reserved lemon halve over the fish and vegatables. Pour Chardonnay all over, too.
Place the tin in the middle of the hot oven, and bake, at 200°C/395°F, 35 minutes.
Serve Lemon and Herb Roasted Mackerel, Pepper and Potatoes hot, with a glass of chilled Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

I just finished Raising Steam and I'm just so emotional about it. I mean, it was obviously intended to be one of the last Discworld novels without being an ending, tying in and tying up so many things; the scope of it is huge, encompassing so much time that would have otherwise, I think, been split into many more novels taking place in the intervening time.
And just-- Cheery Littlebottom. Starting (or at the very least being on the edge of) a tiny Ankh-Morporkian ripple that turned into a WAVE that shook dwarfish culture to its core, and Rhys Rhysson later using this wave to flip the culture on its head. I love both of them so much.
Moist, dancing on top of the Iron Girder and later not even thinking it was super fucking weird that Vimes has a wolverine moment and just totally rips off his fucking shirt, bless him. What a guy.
And Vimes! Putting Moist in his place in a way even the Patrician never managed! Incredible. Iconic. Way to go for ol' Stoneface.
Vetinari, FrYiNg eGGs oN a SHoVeL and shoveling coal, and then beating people to death with that shovel. I'd say "King shit" but regrettably that title is already claimed by Harry King.
And speaking of! Harry King! Hard-ass break-your-kneecaps-with-a-pipe, king-of-shit, no-fucks-given-and-no-fuckery-recieved Harry King being A GOOD MAN throughout the whole novel? We love to see.
I just-- there was so much. So, so much. Sybil teasing Vimes about vacation. Adora Belle's greeting on Moist's return. Whatever the hell is going on with Vetinari and Lady Margolotta. The goblins!!! The golems!!! Colon and Nobby being typically useless, Angua and Detritus being typically useful, all the Sammys (including Feeny)! New gods. The list goes on and on. I just have so many emotions about all of it.

Eating fruits/vegetables outside in the sunshine☀️: the best meal of my life, exquisite flavor and texture, I am a lagomorph 🐇 of some kind or perhaps a deer and this is a tasty snack 🥕I have stolen from the witch’s garden but she just laughs 😂🤣 and gives me a package of carrot tops 🌿before sending me on my way🏠🌲.
