To anyone who may care to read this...

There are certain users on this site who claim to be Uhura and Spuhura fans, but have made some very misogynoiristic and hurtful posts regarding SNW Uhura, as well as "anti" posts about certain pairings with the tags for those pairings attached (some people have also done this to Spuhura, but that's another issue). The majority of the Spuhura fandom do not condone the actions and attitudes of these users at all. With such hateful and negative attitudes, I question the validity of these users' "love" of Spuhura, and therefore Uhura.

These rather problematic users are not one of us, and never have been.

yeah, no.

i’ll be the first to admit that i don’t agree with every single decision the writers/showrunners have made for 911 - but they’re definitely not the bumbling fools i feel that some parts of fandom kind of make them out to be. and it’s fun, i know, to feel like you know your blorbos better than the writers, to feel like you’re secretly picking up on relationships or hints that they didn’t even mean to include - but that’s really not how anything works. the writers aren’t idiots - they’re trained professionals who know how to craft a story. they aren’t just some randoms hired off the street that have never met these characters before in their life.

i’m not saying that fandom absolutely hasn’t played a role in how we view these characters, and the things we believe about them. but all those meta posts and character analyses? they weren’t just pulled from thin air. they’re pulled from what we know from the show, and the narrative the writers have crafted over the years. even our headcanons- the vast majority of them are extrapolations of things we already know to be canonically true about these characters.

also, the idea that the writers don’t know about buddie/have accidentally created the buddie ship as it exists today is just. laughable at this point, tbh. i understand not believing it was a conscious choice back in season two - but also, back then, maddie and eddie were supposed to be a thing. long-term plots change over time, based on audience feedback (and actor feedback - everyone say thank you jlh for madney) but at this point, with such a carefully crafted story being written for buck and eddie - do you really believe we got here by accident? do you really think they’re still building this story, adding in scenes like the will reveal and the family dinner without realizing the implications it has on the overall plot? like, lol, oops, we implied that the three of them are a family unit. definitely didn’t mean to do that!

and - like. i get it. it’s easy to feel frustrated with the writers when you want buddie canon already or stuff like that. but they’re not your enemy - they’re trying to create the best story for these characters, same as you.
