we see the party heading off to college, new beginnings and all that. mikes helping will pack up his stuff into a pickup truck, he says something like "well, looks like we're all done, everything's strapped up!", will walks over to him from where he was saying his goodbyes to joyce, jonathan, hopper and el (shes going to a local college with max in this idk) and just with every bit of softness in the world says "thanks for helping me pack, mike, are you sure you don't mind bringing all this to chicago for me?" and mike's eyebrows just shoot up because he literally went to hell for this man, and in the most sassy tone you can imagine "uh, yeah, we're gonna need some type of furniture for our new place and the government hush fund didn't stretch that far" will lets out a little chuckle, "damn, its the least they could do after the last 7 years" "i know right", mike squawked out, "anyways we better start heading if we want to make it there before dinner, see you soon mrs. byers!" muffled tears of happiness can be heard from her, and her voice wobbles slightly when she shouts back "call me when you get there and send pictures of the apartment! i love you boys", even a sniffle can be heard from hopper when he shouts out some reminders for driving the long distance. as the boys get into the truck, will shouts "we'll be back for thanksgiving, you'll hardly know we're gone" and as mike pulls away from the newly renovated byers-hopper house, there's this perfect shot of a normal loving family wishing their son(s) off to college and in this moment everything is forgotten, no more upside down or vecna or demodogs, no more possessions or otherworldly connections, just two boys holding hands over the console of the car as they set off to a new city, knowing that no matter what happens they'll always have eachother.

BUT ANYWAY will knew mike was coming back in town bc hawkins is tiny and karen wheeler is SUCH a gossip and will was always her fav of mike's friends anyway. and yeah he invites mike over for dinner and they talk and drink and mike has to stay on the couch bc he can't drive home and will's house is just as small as the byers' used to be and even tho mike's only been here like once before for a christmas it's already so familiar. it's /will/. and yeah they start to become friends again and maybe more and mike has to come to terms with the feelings he still has for will that he thought were long buried.

Mike and Nancy cuddling headcanons?

Even as kids, they never used to be really touchy feely, at least not that they would admit of, even if they did show affection towards each other directly, they would pretend like that never happened and proceed to never talk about it again.

Like when they were younger, Mike would come to Nancy's room whenever there was a thunderstorm outside and sleep beside her and hug her tight whenever a thunder crashed and Nancy would hold him tighter because when she was a kid, she was scared of it too, but she didn't have anyone to hug. Sure, Karen would be there if she called her, but Nancy would never, and as much as she hates to admit it, even now she's a little scared and since both of the siblings are scared, who cares if they cuddle right? They're gonna pretend it never happened the next day anyway.

Nancy also used to pat him on the head if he was scolded at, cuddling was never their thing. However one time, Karen was drunk and overwhelmed so she took her anger out on him, and Mike went to his room and started crying silently, that's when Nancy followed and lent him a shoulder to cry on and held him tight as she insisted him to rant it out.

Though, as they grew up things changed, they grew up and apart, even with the upside down and shit, they rarely confided into each other, let alone cuddling. But now everything has changed for the worse, Hell has emerged into Hawkins and the threat is ever stronger than before, and if anything good did come out of it, it's the bonding of the wheeler siblings, and yes with all the worries and overwhelms and stuff, they've started confiding into each other more than ever and even started hugging each other more than they have ever in the first few years of their lives cause if not now then when?

alright i have something to say.

i think the take that hopper hates mike and will throw a fit when he and will start dating is way off mark, and is completely missing the point of WHY mike and hop's relationship is strained at times.

hopper is not 'mikephobic'. he doesn't hate him, he doesnt actually want him dead.

lets recap. what were hoppers issues with mike dating el?

They made out constantly and did nothing else

He was "corrupting her"

He felt like she was "pulling away from him" and distant because she did nothing but spend time with mike

They had no boundaries in place

hoppers issue isnt with mike. they have been shown having genuine moments together, like at the end of season 4 when they hug

his issue was that his daughter was in an UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP and pushed all her other relationships to the side to be with mike, and he (unfairly) put most of the blame for those problems on him. it was unfair, but blaming mike is pretty much to be expected when all he can see is his daughter who he loves dearly not spending time with him anymore.

but hopper CARES ABOUT MIKE

he also cares about el and will. he wants all three of them to be happy

i think ultimately hop saw that milkvans relationship was just a middle school fling. he knew it was never serious, that it would never work out.

mike and wills relationship is built on a much stronger foundation than his and els ever was. they dont need to spend every moment together making out to know that they care about each other. they dont need to constantly abandon the other people they care about to still spend time with each other.

their relationship is and will be a HEALTHY one, and I can't see hopper being anything but supportive of it once he sees that its real and healthy and makes both of them so so happy
