Vox x Autistic!GN!Reader
Tumblr media
Dating the CEO of VoxTek Enterprises has its perks. You always get brand new devices before they even hit the shelves, and occasionally, Vox makes things specifically for you - like noise-cancelling headphones.
Word Count: 1.3k
WARNINGS: none!
A/N: this is for the autistic homies but it works for anyone with sensory issues! 'tis based off of my own experiences so apologies if it feels inaccurate to anyone, i'm projecting so hard rn. this is also my first time writing x reader/2nd person POV so I hope I did alright! also, i do requests if anyone would like to see more of this kind of thing :)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Doll, c'mere for a second, would ya?" Vox calls out to you, gesturing for you to come to his desk with a 'come hither' motion.
You raise a brow in interest as you approach your boyfriend where he's sitting in his rather eccentric chair, tinkering with...something. You hop up onto the desk, careful to sit in a spot that you know has no important screens or buttons (you learned the hard way). You don't say anything, instead just tilting your head and waiting for Vox to show off whatever he's been working on this time.
He finally lets you see what's in his clawed hands: a pair of headphones. They're clearly a VoxTek product—the blue and red color scheme gives it away—though you're certain you've never seen these on sale before. It's not uncommon for Vox to show off new products to you before they're released, though, so you don't question it.
He smirks as he holds the headphones out to you. It's not that sly, devious smile he so often has on his screen, though; it's that grin you have when you're about to surprise someone and you just know they're going to love it. "These are for you, darling."
On one hand, you get a little excited (free shit, fuck yeah!). But on the other, you're a little worried—you're not good at receiving gifts. It always ends up awkward because you don't really know how to express gratitude in an expected, neurotypical way. But Vox is well aware of that, and he can tell when you're grateful, so you push those worries to the side and take the headphones from him.
You look at them curiously, inspecting the foldable hinges, the ear cushions, and the small assortment of buttons on the speakers. You can tell that the three buttons on the right speaker are for adjusting the volume—increase, mute, and decrease—but you have no damn clue what the button on the left speaker is for.
"Well? Put 'em on," Vox encourages you, still with that expectant grin as he anticipates your reaction.
You do as he says and place the headphones over your ears. They're certainly comfortable, but you don't see what the big deal is. You already have headphones—they’re not great, as it’s damn near impossible to drown out the unbearably overstimulating sounds of Hell, but you manage. Kinda.
Just as you’re about to ask what’s so special about these headphones, Vox presses that mystery button on the left speaker, and everything goes blissfully quiet.
Your eyes widen as you get the first moment of true silence for the first time since you arrived in Hell. The sudden difference is initially jarring, but the relief is downright euphoric.
During the entirety of your afterlife in Hell, it's been ceaselessly loud and often unbearable. The screams, the explosions, the gunshots—it's incessant, and you never get a moment of peace. The V Tower is not nearly as bad as the rest of the Pride Ring, thanks to a lot of soundproofing, but there's always something. Moans and other lewd noises fill the halls of anywhere within five floors of Valentino's studios. You can hear the screeching and yelling beneath the thrum of music emitting from Velvette’s section of the tower. 666 Studios isn't much better, with the constant chattering of the crew and bickering between newscasters.
Vox's lair office is by far the quietest place in the entirety of Hell, at least in your experience. The soundproofing here is much more effective than anywhere else in V Tower, and Vox is the only person ever here. He does talk and maniacally laugh to himself fairly often, but you don’t usually don’t mind that (and he’ll typically quite down if he can tell you’re having a rough day). But it’s far from perfect—there’s still the intermittent click-clacking of a keyboard, the constant whirring of the computer fans, the low humming of all the tech, and the audio from whatever security camera Vox is spying on. You can tune it out most of the time, but it all overwhelms you so, so easily.
And you aren't very good at hiding it (at least not with Vox, who’s too observant for his own damn good when it comes to you).
Which is why your dear boyfriend has just spent the past several days making you the best noise-canceling headphones Hell has ever seen. He knows what the constant overstimulation does to you, and he sees it far more often than he'd like to. You get irritated and snippy, and sometimes it gets so bad you have a meltdown. It's gotten less common over time, but it still happens way too frequently for either of your likings.
“So, who’s the best boyfriend ever?” he hints, clearly fishing for a compliment. His voice is surprisingly clear despite the headphones practically deafening you—his words are muffled, but just loud enough for you to understand what’s being said. He's grinning at you like he's the one that just got the excruciatingly heartfelt present.
Usually, you’d have a witty comeback to Vox’s attempts at getting you to stroke his ego (always followed by an actual, genuine compliment to ease his insecurities hiding behind that ego), but you’re drawing a blank right now.
The gift is so thoughtful that you don’t even know where to start on expressing your gratitude. Noise-canceling headphones seem so obvious now, but this is Hell! Both you and Vox had died before this technology became commonplace, and not many people in Hell care that much about the noise. Vox made these headphones specifically for you. He doesn’t need them (he can quite literally just turn off his audio input) and he probably won’t make much of a profit with them as a VoxTek product. He’s a busy man, being a CEO and an Overlord, yet he took the time to make this for you himself, not even passing the project off to one of the poor souls that works for him.
“Babe?” Vox calls out gently, waving a hand in front of your face. Oh, shit—you’re overthinking your response so much that you forgot to actually fucking respond.
You blink a few times, meeting your boyfriend’s gaze. His brows are slightly furrowed, in what you think is a mix of concern and amusement. He’s a little worried he’s fucked up somehow, but he knows you well enough by now to recognize when you’re thinking too hard about something. He actually finds it quite adorable, at least when you’re not about to have a panic attack from it.
As he looks at you expectantly, you decide to just go with your gut (at least, that’s what you think you’re doing—you’ve never entirely understood what the fuck that phrase means).
You don’t give yourself time to second-guess your actions before you’re practically jumping into Vox’s lap—though it’s more like falling since you were just sitting on the desk. He lets out a little ‘oof’ of surprise before he chuckles and moves his hands to your waist, holding you steady while being careful of his claws. He smirks as you wrap your arms around him and bury your face in his neck, jostling the headphones a little but not enough to fuck with the noise cancellation.
“So…you like them, then?” Vox prompts, just wanting the confirmation even though the answer is already clear. You can tell by his tone that he’s still grinning proudly.
You just gently nod, inadvertently rubbing your face against the fabric of his shirt (fortunately, Vox is a fancy bastard with high standards when it comes to clothing, and he’d long ago thrown out any garment made with fabric that triggered your sensory issues).
“Thank you,” you murmur against his neck.
His hands tighten ever so slightly around your waist, and his response is so soft you can barely hear it through the headphones. “Anything for you, doll.”

Ed and Stede are primed to have the most delightfully autistic interactions of all time.
One day Stede leaves to go get groceries and when Ed's like "ooh I might come with," he's like "oh no, there's a new hole on the way there and I'm planning to drop a rock into it to see how far down it goes. Might take a while." Someone else would be like "oh fuck that's a very transparent excuse, is he cheating on me?" But it wouldn't even cross Ed's mind, he'd just be like "cool yeah I do hate standing out in nature. Keep me posted on the results of your experiments"
When they have little domestic spats it's incomprehensible to anyone else. The crew come for a visit and don't notice they're fighting at all because they seem normally affectionate with each other (they don't deprive each other of kisses and comforting touch unless it's serious). Ed leaves the room and Stede's like "ugh. He only called me his boyfriend once and didn't end the conversation by calling me the love of his life, as is our favorite way to signal our discussion is over. He might as well have spit in my face"

i think for me the unique difficulty in nailing the Stede Voice is partially that he does actually say things like “amongst” and “dramatic upsets” and “immoderate use of the citrus” in casual conversation except that they’re seamlessly woven in with things like “a whopper” and “yeah right” and “it was whatever” and striking that balance can be pretty hard
but the other thing is that a lot of his voice’s distinctiveness happens in the way rhys darby delivers his lines. i’m of the understanding that he’s done some voice acting work, so maybe that’s influencing his habits here, but stede’s speech is brimming with inflection, like, virtually all the time, even for lines in private one-on-one conversations that call for very low levels of energy
it creates the impression, to me, of someone giving a presentation on something they’re passionate about while acutely aware that the audience in front of them is losing interest. a kind of subtextual preemptive “i already know you think what i’m saying right now is stupid and useless, and that i’m stupid and useless, but! listen to me! listen to me! HEAR ME OUT!!!” like if he treats every word that comes out of his mouth as though it’s interesting and important, maybe his audience will consider the possibility that he’s saying something worth listening to. like going “MmMMm!” while making a show of eating a gross-looking vegetable in front of a kid who refuses to try it. actually, now that i think about it, his children were probably the first people in his life whose attention made him feel like he was actually being taken 100% seriously when he spoke. yeah i can see that coloring how he interacts with the crew at the beginning of the series
i had another point in here somewhere. hang on. btw for all my autistic stede trutherz i also see the exaggerated inflection as an element of his autism, yk what i mean

Can you do an established relationship Zoro or Sanji x autistic reader? If you don't want to thats totally fine, I just don't know if there's any out there and I NEED one so bad.
Tumblr media

Where the light goes
Zoro Roronoa x autistic!reader
Summary : having autism was never easy. Ever since you were small, you've been struggling with this disorder. But growing up,you learn from the man you love that its not something to be ashamed of
Warnings : none i think,reader has autism,gender neutral,hurt/comfort, insecurities,panic attacks and such,mention of eating habits,fluff and happy ending
*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘
The streets were awfully busy today.
As you walk alongside your crewmates, you hug your bag close to your chest and try to make yourself impossibly small.
There were so many people. Too many loud voices. Everything was too much
And when someone bumps his shoulder to yours for the third time that day,you swallow down the lump in your throat;this was exactly why you always chose to stay back in the ship , where there would be no loud voices or people around. So when Luffy suggested that all of the crew go out for lunch and give Sanji some well-deserved break, you had no choice but to comply.
And gods above, how much you regretted that decision.
Ever since you were small, you had trouble with crowded places; being diagnosed with autism when you were only 4 years old,had turned your world upside down. Playing with other kids, being called weird and other humiliating names, and not being able to walk the streets in daylight without breaking down into a full panic attack, were only a few problems you'd to deal with daily.
Your life felt short, cramped and suffocating. The way your parents would fuss over you when you did the smallest things had you crazy. So when one faithful night, you stumbled upon the StrawHats, you gave yourself a chance to live. The best decision of your whole life, specially since joining them, you immediately fell head over heels for your crewmate.
"hey,you alright?"
The same man who always seemed to know exactly how you felt.
You swallow around the lump in your throat and nod.
"y-yeah. Thank you."
Zoro stares at you in the way that you know he doesnt believe you. You try to give him a wobbly smile but it only makes his lips pull down into a frown.
He leans down, and talks in a hushed voice so its only you who hear him.
"wanna ditch lunch?we can go back to the ship."
You glance nervously at your loud crewmates and look back at your green hair crush.
"are you sure?"
"i wasn't a fan of the whole idea of 'eating out' anyways," he says with a shrug and folds his arms against his chest, "I'll gladly ditch it to go back."
You give him another smile, brighter this time and giggle.
"you just want to go back so you can drink."
"your point being?"
And when Zoro informs everyone that the two of you will head back to the ship, they oddly enough let you go.
Once you step inside the ship and the quiet hits you,you let out a sigh of relief;you were finally home and away from the busy street.
You sit yourself against the back of the ship, where Nami's tangerine trees give you some peace of mind. the feeling is so relaxing, that you dont even notice that Zoro has arrived to where you're sitting. He clears his throat and knocks on the wooden wall to get your attention;to which you sluggishly turn your head to. He raises his brow at you and jerks his head toward the front of the ship.
"you're not hungry?"
You shake your head;your eyelids oddly heavy.
"no,not really."
"your eating habits acting up again?"
"maybe," you smile bitterly, and start to chew on your nail, "today was...a bit too much.to be honest, I'm kinda sleepy ."
To that, Zoro nods and after that, doesnt say anything. He just...stands there, and stares so intently that has you chewing on your nails harder.
Was he disgusted?was there anything wrong?did you offend him in any way??
You could've never read people's emotions, and the emotionally constipated Zoro?
It was an impossibly task.
Just when your thoughts were getting out of hands,a heavy weight suddenly drops on your lap.
The action has you jumping a bit and you let out a surprised squeak.
"Z-Zoro?what are you doing?"
"what does it look like?" He grumbles and opens one eye to stare up at you, "I'm taking a nap."
Your eyes soften at his answer, and tentatively, your fingers start to comb through his soft locks.
And when he lets out a satisfied groan at your action, you swear you'd died and went to heaven.
"aren't you hungry?"
"no. Just sleepy."
You smile and nod your head understandingly.
"then sleep."
Zoro slowly shifts, until his face is buried in your stomach and you can feel his hot breath through your thin shirt when he speaks next.
"tell me next time, when you're not feeling well."
Your heart warms, and you lower your head to drop a loving kiss on his hair.
"will do. Thank you."
When Zoro dozes off in your lap,you own eyes watch him for few more minutes before you're falling asleep yourself as well.
And when the crew comes back later that day,for once in their lives, they decide to keep it down and not wake you up.
*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘P.S : Zoro doesn't eat or sleep unless you do so as well :) i hope you liked it,dont forget to leave comment

I got thinking that the most honest and raw details about Ed and Stede's past are revealed in Stede's fever-dream and Badminton hallucination and Ed's coma, when they're confronted by their own subconsciousnesseseses (too many esesesss didn't know when to stop).
I had a pick over some of Ed's dialogue from the Gravy Basket the other day, which was barely even scraping the surface, including his expectation of violence when he's vulnerable, anticipation of hurt/cruelty in a domestic sphere and from a caretaker, desperate need for validation and approval and more.
While rewatching episode 1-4 today, it hit me how much Stede's demonstrate his belief that:
he was and remains nothing more than a disappointment to everyone around him, fit for scorn and derision (covering the parent, spouse and child for his fever dream)
no one would care if he was hurt ("Yeah, congrats")
he was insufficient ("you are such a disappointment")
he was a coward/weak ("He was scared of geese, for god's sake," say the man who shows up holding the goose he forced his son to watch him kill)
his choices, thoughts and fears would be laughed at (All of the above + Nigel)
no one cares about his physical well-being (Standing over him, taunting and laughing while he's in pain)
he was a terrible father by choosing to leave ("They'll never see papa again")
his children would hate him and wouldn't care if he was dead ("scoundrels spare no one")
Messy, emotionally-repressive autistic lad hasn't had anywhere to let out his distress for a long time, because he's never felt safe to do it. Mary says she knew he was unhappy and thought she heard him crying alone and, in a flat monotone, he denied it and said the crying was the wind.
He was conditioned to believe anything he said would be shot down. He wasn't allowed to express opinions and thoughts and his father made damn sure if he did have any, they were scoffed at and ridiculed, whether it was Stede's belief he was fortunate to have comfort and wealth or derision about his belief that he could marry for love. Mary's anger at his ship plan comes in there too, even if her reaction is warranted - he still sees a rejection of him, his ideas and the things he cares about.
It says it all that the only time he really does lose his temper in S1 (not including the meltdowns over things not going to plan) is when Jack is deliberately smashing all his buttons, treating him like his peers and dad used to and then, to rub it in extra hard, pissing on his shoes.
Stede tried to do what he normally did in stressful situations: he was going to go back to the ship so no one would see anything, because Conceal Don't Feel is that man's watchword. He bottles so finely he has an entire wine cellar of Trauma.
Ed catches him before he can leave and Stede's all out of control of his emotions and lets opinions fly and next thing he knows, Karl is dead, the crew are upset and Ed is leaving with Jack. So he learns Do Not Show The Emotions Again and boy, how that spectacularly backfires.
And on that note, watching S2, ohhhhhh there's an eruption coming at some point. He has been pushing it all down, shaking the bottles and stacking them. We've had his flashbacks again. We've had him kill for the first time. We've had him almost lose the love of his life multiple times. He's not dealt with any of that and a storm is a-coming now there's nothing to distract him from it.
Also, in case there's any doubts that his trauma isn't lurking to sneak back up and bite him, look at the man he chose to spend time with after Ed left him when he did something regarded as "man's work": an older man in a bloody leather apron just like his father in the flashbacks.
"You like me for me," he says to that guy, the one who has been reassuring him and validating him and telling him how good and worthwhile he is all day.
Stede "Daddy Issues and Then Some" Bonnet.

silly Izzy situation: he gets a parrot.
HE GETS A PARROT OH THIS GAVE ME BRAIN WORMS
-Stede is the one to get him the parrot- something about how hes got the wooden leg he has to complete the look? honestly izzy wasnt listening, stede was using his excited voice and izzys learnt he can zone out a bit when he gets like that. there was a hat too but that went to someone else Real quick (the parrot was trying to eat it anyway)
-i know nothing about parrots but im gonna say stede gets him an African grey. it's the goth-est parrot and they're Friends Now, hes got to give a gift that fits in with izzys Look
-when stede gives it him he protests LOUDLY but when stede gets all sad and says he will return him izzy draws a knife. wtf you can't return my gift Stede
- the parrot learns to say fuck REAL quick
-izzy learns bird care from buttons, obviously- izzy is Rules autistic he needs to know How you look after his pet. he is super rigorous with following the rules and at least one crew member has faced a tirade for feeding him something bad
-the bird rides everywhere on his shoulder. frenchie makes him a little pad so his claws don't scratch izzys leathers and so he can grip better
-he starts stroking the bird as a comfort (in Correct places, thank u buttons) he doesn't notice hes doing it but everyone else does. lucius has a sketch
-you know how some pets are like? exactly like their owners? yeah. this is the grumpiest fucking parrot and they are perfect together. he only likes izzy. after a while he mimicks izzy yelling at the crew and nobody knows what to do they all just. stare. izzy laughs.
- the parrot spends a little too much time with the swede somehow (jackies? izzy & jackie friendship my beloved i will force you in anywhere) and picks up his singing. its. something. they end up using it on raids as part of a fuckery. two haunting tones to create a sense of unreality, of being surrounded.
-i didn't give the parrot a name here because i genuinely believe izzy wouldnt give it a name, hed just call it 'the parrot', occasionally 'my parrot' when drunk. the crew call it mini Izzy.
(buttons asked the parrot its name)
-someone once gave the parrot a knife because they thought itd be funny. we do not talk about the parrot knife incident.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is all a little different from my usual style, but i love the magnus archives with all of my heart so i really wanted to make some collages based around the concepts explored in the podcast. notes on each collage under the cut.
1.) the hunt - i tried to keep this one on task with werewolves and such, but I am a supernatural fan and it has gone terminal so sorry about that.
2.) the eye - based somewhat off of an oc but still very jon coded
3.) the desolation - one of my faves, the colors really just came together
4.) the lonely - i didn't originally have the text on this one, but i think it tied it together in a way my stickers weren't.
5.) the dark - there's not really an artsy reason for the text on this one, i just wanted something to contrast against all of the black
6.) the buried - not many stickers on here, but im really proud of that dirt detail on the bottom
7.) the stranger - yeah i know the stranger in tma is mostly based around circuses, but whenever i think uncanny i think the mandela catalogue
8.) the web - this one gave me the most trouble, as the color scheme was really hard to nail down, i think its one of my weakest.
9.) the end - believe it or not this is one of four death based collages i've done on landing
10.) the corruption - this one was also very hard, not becuase of content matter but because i am deathly afraid of wasps
11.) the vast - i am so autistic about mike crew. no one understands him like i do.
12.) the slaughter - based more off of murder than war, partially because i have an slaughter oc that leans more towards murder and partially because it didn't match the scheme i was going for
13.) the spiral - i think i developed a medical condition making this absolute monstrosity. If you go to my landing page, it moves
14.) the flesh - my absolute fave, this one just came out so well.

do you think Gil dumbs himself down in canon to make people underestimate him
honestly??? no?? idk i think he is-kinda smart? but only in certain aspects-he can sew and cook and i think he's mathematically and history smart, like he can remember things like no one else-but he is a lil dumb, he's a himbo, he's our himbo-let him be a himbo-the himbo of descendants. Chads not a himbo he's not buff or nice enough-so Gil's our himbo~ Buff stupid and sweet. i think Gil's autistic n stuff so he finds it hard to read social cues-which is why he fumbles with 'not' saying certain things like 'shrimpy' and doesn't always read the room right unless Harry or Uma tap him to get his head back in the scene.
Tumblr media
i think the only people he dumbs himself down for are like-his brothers and dad-just so he can be out of their radar because he's 'too stupid'. when he's around people he trusts, Uma and Harry, he lets himself-just be himself, no matter how stupid he comes across as.
but yeah, hes a lil dumb, a himbo, but we love him for it and he has a lot of skills so he's not stupid, just a himbo~ i mean in 'revenge of the isle' he put Uma's shattered necklace back together after it had been shattered to like-millions of tiny pieces, and everyone else, including Harry and Uma had given up on repairing it, so he's got steady hands and infinite patience, he's quarter master/2nd mate so he can read maps well enough and knows how to command the ship if need be, and is the main lookout for the crew-which means he has incredible sight and perception.
...anyway-so no Gil doesnt dumb himself down unless its around people he wants to make sure think he's dumb so he doesn't get hurt-or that's just what i think

Yesterday I watched Data's Day and it made me cry and I need to talk about it.
First of all I love that it was lowkey a slice of life episode? Like Data is just describing his normal day and some crazy stuff happens as usual on the Enterprise but it's also just like. The crew hanging out. I especially love his conversation with Worf about what wedding present to buy because it's just so normal? Everyday? And just seeing his casual friendships with everyone? And they all love each other? I love the whole tng crew so much.
Anyway, what made me really emotional was how much I related to Data as an autistic person and I know people talk about this all the time but I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN FOR MYSELF.
Right in the beginning of the episode he talks about how he used to have trouble maintaining friendships but now that he's become better at predicting other people's emotions he's become able to form friendships. And just. The whole ordeal of having to take years and years to LEARN TO MAKE FRIENDS when it seems to come so naturally to everyone else, when it seems like something that should just be easy. Yeah. But then also the absolute joy when you succeed! When you think ah yes I've finally learned to understand others enough, to do the correct analyses, to make the correct predictions, I can finally make friends! And Data is so pleased with himself just like I have been the past couple years. And the thing is! He makes mistakes still in predicting emotions! But his friends forgive him and help him understand! And it's just so??? Oh my god the happiness that comes with being accepted despite your flaws, despite who you are and what you can't change about yourself. With being reminded that you still deserve friendship and a special place in people's lives even when you make mistakes. Because even though he upsets Keiko by trying to change her mind about the wedding she forgives him and still lets him act as "the father of the bride" because she still loves him! Everyone does! Because he's so sincere! Oh my god I love Data so much-
But the thing that made me cry was one little moment when they suddenly redirect their course towards the neutral zone and Data says it's a good thing his duties can't be interrupted by emotions such as the uneasiness he might feel about such a change to the course. While clearly exhibiting signs of being nervous like tapping his fingers and glancing behind himself at the drivers. And this is something about my experience of autism that I hardly ever see in fiction. Not only do I have trouble understanding the feelings of others, I have trouble identifying MY OWN FEELINGS. I have low body awareness so instead of feeling emotions in my body I have to engage with them intellectually which means I often can't tell that I'm experiencing an emotion even when people around me can. I saw another post a month or so ago talking about how Data probably has similar troubles because his emotions don't manifest physically the way they do for humans. And just. I've spent so long feeling like and being accused of being an unemotional person because I don't feel my emotions the way other people do, so to see this implication that Data DOES have emotions even when he himself doesn't always notice them is so lovely. Just because he or I don't always feel emotions physically, and must understand them intellectually, doesn't mean we are uncaring. It just means so much to see a character who thinks of himself as emotionless be portrayed as so gentle, kind, and loved.
And then the end of the episode- Data says he believes humanity is not an inherent quality but a way of thinking and something he can achieve. And that's so reassuring. Even if I'm not human now, maybe someday I will be. And even if I'm not human, even if I'm never human, I can still be good, I can still feel, I can still make friends, I can still be like Data.

My thoughts on CX-2 in the most recent episode. Spoilers for The Bad Batch ofc! (Under the cut)
Okay, I have so so many thought and things I noticed in the most recent episode and I feel like if I don't share them I'm going to explode. So tune in and buckle up cause here comes a lot of word vomit 😂😭
I'm saying it right now to get it out there, I think CX is Tech and I am absolutely expecting to sob about it in the upcoming episodes.
So actually starting off, the way he interacted with Phee and Phee's ship!
He was able to get into the computer of the ship and maintain the information so easily
And the way he lingers after and watches Phee. He didn't have to do that, he had the intel, he could've left
But no, instead he stays and risks getting caught so he can watch her for a moment
Doomed love makes me so sad :(
Another thing I've been paying attention to and thinking about is that people keep theorizing CX-2 is either Tech (most likely) or Cody (less likely), right?
People have also pointed out that in yesterday's episodes CX had an accent resembling Cody as well as an accent resembling Crosshair later on
Did you know that a lot of autistic/neurodivergents in general have a subconscious tendency to mimic the way speak speak, things they say, and even their accents to fit in?
Since Tech is cannonly confirmed to be autistic and he definitely struggles with social interactions/situations the CX trooper being Tech would make that much more sense
Another thing I noticed a lot of people pointing out was how CX used the term "domicile" and...yeah.
I'm sorry but I deadass can't imagine any clone ever ever using that word other than Tech.
Also, and this one absolutely set the final stone for me, even his ship is programmed to do a Tech turn
I fucking cannot
I want my brother back, but at what cost?
If CX really really is Tech (which is seemingly more and more likely every episode) how the hell is the crew gonna handle this??
I cannot see a way that it turns out to be Tech and he doesn't die again or kill his brothers or something
I am so anxious 😭

Leverage/Psych crossover ideas
Shawn and Elliot are cousins. They havent met because Henry is estranged from his sibling who is Elliot’s parent. Team Leverage does a job in Santabarabra while Shawn and co are in the middle of in unrelated murder investigation. They come within mere seconds of crossing paths several times until finally Parker runs into Lassiter. They both see someone do something dumb and mutter the same thing under their breaths. They hear each other and catch eyes. They have a short talk where they bond over being autistic coded. Then they go their separate ways, fully expecting to never see the other again. Yeah, they thought the other person seemed cool but neither of them are really in the market for more friends
The Leverage team finishes their con successfully and leaves town. Somehow the bad guys manage to learn Elliot’s name. Wait, Spencer? Like the psychic? They look into it and yeah turns out they’re related. They kidnap Shawn to get to Elliot and then call Sophie or rather Sophie’s alias and say hey guess what? We’ve got your cousin and unless you undo the damage you did and give us a bunch of money we’ll kill him.
Elliot is confused at first before he remembers yes, he does have a cousin who is from Santabarbara. Didn’t know he was psychic though. (Not that he’s sure he believes that) So they turn around and head back to Santabarbara.
Naturally since Shawn was kidnapped Lassie and Jules are on the case. (And Gus)
At first their are no leads. They have no idea why Shawn was kidnapped. Then, they find security footage and manage to link it back to the same company whose ceo Lassiter arrested for fraud the day before. They aren’t sure what the connection is, but it’s there.
Then team Leverage gets back to town. They team up with the Santabarbara crew and rescue Shawn. (Possibly Elliot intentionally gets himself captured because it’s the quickest way to find Shawn and then takes the bad guys out while Shawn is standing is standing in the background like “wow my cousin is badass!”)
Sidenote: Shawn gets his kidnappers to spill the beans on what’s going on and they tell him about how his cousin framed a guy for fraud. Shawn recognizes that for the half truth it is.
During the time looking for Shawn Parker befriends both Jules and Lassiter. (She goes with her fbi cover, which Hardison has officially made almost full proof in its authenticity.) or not. Idk.
Gus and Alec would obviously love going undercover together. Alec finally has someone who will go along with his dramatics easily, like it’s any other day. Gus meanwhile is used to working with Shawn and is having a blast, cause its very similar. Obviously it’s different then Shawn and Gus, I mean Alec and Gus just met, but its an equal tug and pull of power. They are both just grounded enough that neither one of them is the crazy one, but neither are either of them the completely normal levelheaded one either.
Maybe at the end, Henry reaches out to his estranged sibling or something. As for Sophie and Nate? Well Sophie can’t get involved because she was already the public face of the con. And Nate is intimidated by chief Vick, but he doesn’t tell anyone that. By the end only Shawn and Gus know that the crew are thieves. Lassiter and Jules know something is fishy about them, but hey, it’s probably just fbi stuff. (Plus Jules reached out to her brother and Ewan said Elliot is a good guy.)
Thanks to @duckapus for kickstarting this idea by your leverage psych crossover post

please PLEASE do go on about how autistic Hunter is. As a probably-neurotypical person I love to learn more about neurodiversity from people firsthand rather than textbooks it's so cool, plus media diversity rep is something so important, I did a whole project about it actually
OKAY, BET
he's just...... soooo autistic-coded, like there's NO way he's neurotypical lmao (there are of course some things that he does that can also come from his PTSD or his upbringing/growing up conditions rather than autism (or just both! since they might overlap) but there's just.. SO much stuff that's strictly autistic that like........ it's canon. canon to me.)
like, how dramatic he is at times? the entire hexside scene???
the moment where he comes up to that one random kid like "CLASSMATE. ignore the fact that we'd never met, how would you say abt [gets straight to the point where he tells him to join a coven and leave his friends and family forever in an overconfident cheerful manner]" LIKE THAT'S SOOO XKSJKSK the manner in which he said it, the way he just came up to that random person outta the blue, how he got straight to the point, like COME ON
and THIS????
Tumblr media
"teens are probably into the same things as me! like authority. and rules!" BRO........
also how expressive his face is (especially how expressive it is for some emotions and schooled/subtle for certain others)
oftentimes his choice of words and the specific intonation in which he says stuff???? 💀 "stop acting foolish" "it will take more than that to thwart my mission" "that's sacrilege" okay grandpa let's get you to bed nxsjksk BUT LIKE. NO, EVEN THE INTONATION he uses in very casual sentences, it's very...... yeah
how much he likes to share fun facts and talk abt stuff he knows abt and is interested in (wild magic, titan's veins/eclipse lake, mindscapes...)? and how he sometimes stops himself mid-sentence before he says too much? that could definitely be interpreted as info-dumping and special interests
how much he loves research in general? i just KNOW he loves knowing stuff and reading up on stuff and memorizing cool fun facts (him immediately reading all the grimwalker books he could find after finding out that's what he is- like obviously he did that, obviously he wanted to know what he is. but also just..... it's so, so very huntercore)
taking things literally.. wanting clearer/more direct instructions on stuff......
“i don’t feel sick” 💀
him just turning around and walking away with no word right away after willow introduced the rest of the team
him not realizing emerald entrails rly didn't want to join the emperor's coven and not realizing he did sth wrong until later, when he noticed willow was upset
THE FREAKING. DELETED SCENE FROM CLOUDS ON THE HORIZON in which he automaticaly moved to climb the vines onto amity's balcony along with luz and didn't get why luz could possibly wanna be alone with amity before willow and gus stopped him. willow and gus saying "you'll understand when you're older" and then him arguing with flapjack how he IS older, JUST. LMAO....
the whole description of him as this...... “prodigy” and everything related to that (not necessarily a positive thing, considering how he was treated and described as by many adults)? the little intricacies of it.... hm
him being kinda bad at lying and making up stuff
and even his stance sometimes???? boy
Tumblr media
and not just THIS one, but. many many different poses in which he stands sometimes. very hmmm hm
how direct he is?
also this is a headcanon/interpretation but him constantly wearing gloves? and him saying "why are you touching it [the selkidomus] with your hands? gross"? sensory issues. so real.
also the sounds he makes and his squeaks???? how he sometimes fidgets with his hands/thumbs?
and MORE, like there are also many many moments that can be interpreted as other autistic traits or behaviours, just. ALL OF IT.
the crew did say that they've written neurodivergence into the show and into who these characters are intentionally, even if they might not be aware of some terms or labels at times, so like... i’m 100% certain hunter’s purposely written to be neurodivergent. and i’m gonna be very surprised if not specifically autistic (+ ptsd ofc)
he just... is.
anyway...

I think fitpac are both touch starved and touch averse so it's like. Sometimes they're inseparable and then other times one of them goes "i can sit next to you but that's about it rn" and it's a mutual understanding. Sometimes physical contact is the best thing ever and is necessary and other times it is the worst thing ever and it's okay to just Be Around Each Other instead. Also they're both autistic I hope this helps
FITPAC AUTISM4AUTISM IS REAL AND CANON YOU CAN PRY AUTISTIC MORNING CREW FROM MY COLD DEAD FLAPPY HANDS!!!! Im 100% a believer in touch starved and touch averse fit bcuz his ass is NOT used to positive physical touch but to me pac is like the touchiest person ever 70% of the time and only touch averse on a Bad Day (he's always had Mike w him to cuddle and hold hands w for comfort bcuz tazercraft qpr is also real and canon) I think he's big on casual physical affection and he and Mike have been the ones slowly getting fit used to it over the months, but once Mike's gone and it's just him and fit pac starts being a little bit more awkward about it bcuz there's no one there to act as a buffer between him and his definitely not just friendly feelings but then fit notices that and starts missing the hugs and the playful hits and thumps on the back so he (very awkwardly) begins to initiate it more often... the one clip of "do .. do you want to hug" "yeah we can hug" lives in my mind rent free

I absolutely INHALED this series over about three days, and good god it was fun. Becky Chambers has such a flair for sci-fi worldbuilding and continually tantalizes you with distinctive, fully realized worlds and societies that, with few exceptions, you only ever scrape the surface of. This is because Chambers, with her clearly towering worldbuilding skill, is putting all of that towards telling rich character dramas, easing you further and further into her universe with each one. The first book follows a ragtag crew of space miners becoming a found family, with four of them being humans of different backgrounds learning to live with the different alien species that inhabit the GCC. The second follows an AI in an illegal "bodykit", learning to be a person and what that means for her--in a refreshing twist on "AI being a person" stories, she's not trying to be more like humans or other sapients, but simply wants her personhood recognized for what she is, without forcing herself into a bodyshape that's uncomfortable or a way of living that doesn't suit her. My autistic ass is LIVING for it. The third dives deep into the Human culture of the Exodans, nomadic humans who still live on the ancient spaceships that once carried them away from the dying Earth, even though they no longer need to be nomadic now that they've found the GCC; it's a lovely exploration of the value of different ways of life, tradition, connection, and, ultimately, choice. And then, after three books of immersing you in her galaxy, the fourth book features no humans at all; instead, five members of four species are trapped at effectively the space gas station due to a satellite crash. They learn more about each other and each others' species, overcome prejudices, form bonds, and share their disgust and horror when learning about the bizarre human delicacy of cheese. (3/5 of those present aren't even mammals and find the concept of milk at all pretty gross; the other two are just "if it's made of milk, it's a children's treat, right? Wait, they put WHAT in the milk???" It's a DELIGHT of a scene, has me howling.)
The character drama is first and foremost, always. There's a war going on in the background of most of the books, but we are spending no more than a few pages there, we have an interspecies romance to explore the intricacies of. A ship explosively decompressed, killing thousands? Yeah that's not the plot, it's a thing that's gonna happen when you're still flying a 200+year-old ship. There's no dramatic plot there, what we're focusing on is the grief, shock, and terror of Exodan society. Spoiler, but the satellite crash in the fourth book is no diabolical plot, it's just a space infrastructure issue, and there's no bad guys to fight except for our own racial prejudices and clashing political opinions. It's great, and I want five hundred more books of it, and WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE FOURTH BOOK IS THE LAST Q_Q
