i have absolutely no idea if this matters, but if you take a look at the training/physical aptitude test results... ichiji is almost always first (and sanji is ALWAYS dead last)
jumping/uhh idk what this is lmfao: ichiji = reiju (unclear) > niji > yonji > sanji
running/speed: ichiji > reiju > niji > yonji > sanji
agility: ichiji > yonji > niji > reiju > sanji
swimming: reiju > ichiji > yonji > niji > sanji
swordfighting: this is just niji and sanji and uhhh. yeah. 😬
kind of makes me wonder: if niji/yonji outperformed ichiji, would one of them be selected to ascend to the throne?? like would judge throw primogeniture out the window (AGAIN) if one of the others were more competent than ichiji????
maybe this is why im particularly attached to interpretations where niji and yonji are also 'defective' in some way, they've just learned to hide it 'better' than sanji. and that part of their resentment/confusion regarding what happened with sanji is based in this kind of 'suffering in silence' mentality where they're struggling too, they just don't understand why sanji is so 'loud' about it.

Well, everyone can be quite scarry (except robin. I refuse to fear him. He can break in in my safe house, stel my stuff and try to pick a fight, but he still a little ankle-bitter in my eyes. I change his diapher, i would never fear him)
But he one i really don't want as an enemy is Signal and not for all that meta shit (i rather fight superman than him) he's just fucking insane. I see him break every single bat-rule and never, ever, not a single time pay the consequence of his action.

Summary: Dr. Flug crushing/dating headcanons with an adventurous, yet clumsy reader. Mainly hurt/comfort.
Extra Info: audacious(adj) - showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks
Dr. Flug's entire.. self, kinda depends on a schedule. He feels incomplete without order in his life, and can hardly keep track of his work without something written down to help. This put-together side of him led him to.. not really get along well with people like Demencia. Luckily for you, you weren't like Demencia. Not completely.
Unlike Flug, you didn't care much for schedule. If something interesting caught your eye, you set everything you were doing aside to check it out. The thing you were just doing was immediately forgotten--not on purpose, of course. Because of your eagerness to start new, spontaneous quests, you often found yourself gaining new.. injuries. And experiences! But mainly injuries.
As said before, you weren't like Demencia. Despite everything, Flug could still tolerate you! And, uh.. care.. for you. Yeah, he's still going over that part a bit, but he will admit, he's pretty fond of you. So he gets pretty worried for you when you get yourself hurt, either on missions, in his lab, or just on your own. ..Oh, who am I kidding, he loses his shit.
First reactions to any injury are probably something along the lines of "How'd that get there".. if it was his own. He's never really had to deal with other people's injuries other than 5.0.5's, and he doesn't really care much for Demencia--generally assuming she'll figure herself out. But he has a first aid kit somewhere in his lab, just for extra safety measures. Flug's relieved that it paid off, yet not so relieved that you managed to get yourself hurt. Again, apparently.
To say Dr. Flug was shaking would be an understatement. He was trembling. Sure, he was a doctor, but he never studied medicine in college! He wishes he could've now, but he was just too busy with engineering, wasn't he? Flug was just nervous--partly because he was.. uncomfortably close to you, but he also didn't want to hurt you anymore than you already were. The last thing he wanted to see was you in pain. Honestly, he crumbled at the thought. Though, you seemed to be handling the injury quite well! He was surprised by your endurance.
Eventually, Flug finds himself patching you up more and more often. No matter how hard he tried, you always seemed to be off doing your own thing on missions. Not like he minded--even if it did intrude on his plan--he'd make an exception for you. As far as Dr. Flug knows, this was just out of fondness. You know, friendship..! That's what he told himself. After all, it was a bit cute endearing to see you go after something off topic, completely unaware of the focus. He just made sure to look after you at times to prevent you from getting hurt for the 32nd time on a mission. He was surprised you were still alive at this point.
You scare him. Not on purpose, but rather he's scared.. for you. Especially if you decide to visit him in his lab. He's got plenty of "hands-off" items scattered around his workspace, and considering you were more of a hands-on type of person.. you and his lab didn't really mix well together. And yet, you always seem to catch him off guard. Surprisingly, you felt a little bit more calmer when in his lab. It was pretty peaceful, you'd admit. If Demencia didn't decide to randomly wreck Flug's lab (which she does weekly), 5.0.5. was usually somewhere asleep in a corner while Dr. Flug worked--and it was cool to watch him work on whatever machinery he was developing. However, this did make Flug slightly more nervous around you, especially if you were watching him. He wouldn't want to mess up in front of you, would he?
He's never gonna admit his feelings for you. There, said it for him, over the past few months, Flug's definitely grown a lot more than just "fond" with you. Dr. Flug has a plentiful amount of fears, one of these being rejection. But he'd never expect having this fear around you. He didn't like feeling anxious around you, but for now, he's just gonna have to let those butterflies thrash in his stomach. Unless, of course, he spills his guts.
I'd like to imagine one of his confessions being mainly on accident. Maybe it just slipped out, maybe he planned on it and backed away at the worst possible second, but I'd like to imagine a little something like this:
"Why would you do that?? I was so worried and.."
"Because I love yo--"
"I seriously thought tha-- What."
He may stumble and he may fall, but now you know the truth, and it begins knawing on Flug from the inside. ..I mean, unless you reciprocate feelings--which he knows you wouldn't. Would you..?
If you do, he is completely stunned. Why would someone as amazing, confident, captivating, and fearless as you.. like him? To Dr. Flug, it didn't make sense--but you? You were already on your way to schedule a first date.
Your first date is mainly just you taking the lead, and Flug frantically following you white a dorky smile plastered on his face. You were also holding his hand. The entire time. You really know how to make a fool out of him, don't you?
No date is finished without an injury! Yup, to this day, you're still running into freakish accidents, but this time, Flug's always there to patch you up. With the amount of dates the two of you go on, mainly all planned by you, most would be surprised that you're somehow alive at this point.
You don't mind, though. At the end of the day, you still have a somehow calming lab to come home to, and that's healing enough.

finally, finally finished the ~definitive~ designs for my main Motley girls :’)
Extensive design notes under the cut (mostly for documentation purposes, but also because i like talking about my ocs lol)
In my last post, I introduced the idea of giving each character multiple colors, rather than being one uniform color throughout the design. The idea is that the characters can earn up to 3 new colors as they age+experience new things.
For each color they earn, they’ll wear a new ‘evolved’ version of their previous outfit.
For comparisons sake, here’s the initial pass I took at trying to give my characters more colors:
(euhg. theyre really really ugly. im honestly embarrassed i ever posted these at all lol)
Fact: it’s actually incredibly difficult to design monochrome outfits for characters without the designs looking extremely unfinished (to me, anyways lol). In an attempt to break up the monotony of the monochrome outfit designs, I found myself over relying on the outline colors to fill in their outfit pieces (cherrys pants, limes turtleneck, etc). This hypothetically works, but it ended up causing a lot of confusion as to how many colors the characters had actually earned, especially when the outline color was vastly different from the intended color. Basically, the tl;dr is that over relying on the outline colors felt like cheating, looked bad, and caused a lot of issues.
All of this explanation is to set up the 2 design rules I gave myself for the New Definitive Designs:
1. Outline colors MUST NOT be over relied on, and should be used as sparingly as possible
2. Nothing is sacred. If it looks bad, throw it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also decided to shift around their body types slightly, since I realized that practically every character had the same build with a different height (with the exception of Banana). Marshmallow is a bit curvier, Watermelon is slightly more muscular, etc. And, while you cant really tell because of their baggy outfits, Lime is much boxier and Blueberry is lankier and has wider shoulders than the others.
Finally, here’s some specific design notes for each character, how they changed, and why:
Cherry Pit - Cherry may not have had the most drastic changes, but hers were definitely the most important. She’s had the same hairstyle ever since the first time I drew her (back in ....... middle school lol), and as attached as I was to it, it caused a LOT of problems. It gave her an ugly silhouette, the sharp edges kind of ruined her circle motif, etc. So it had to change. I decided to give her a fluffier hair style to incorporate more round edges into her design, and I truly cannot tell you how many hairstyles I cycled through before I landed on that one. It was major development hell. But I think the new style is much much cuter! Due to story reasons, I also decided to give her 2 outfit colors instead of just one, and she seriously looks so much better because of it. Big fan of Cherrys new design lol
Blueberry Cobbler - Ohhhh where to start with this one. Blueberrys design has always been a headache to me. I found it difficult to draw consistently, and even when I got it to look how I wanted, it still didn’t look very good. So, my goal for her redesign was to overhaul her design while keeping the general idea behind it; most importantly, she needed to be Fun To Draw. So, I changed the silhouette of her sweatshirt by giving her a more exaggerated hood, replaced her bulky zipper with the hanging ties (idk what theyre called lol), and Changed Her Ugly Ass Tights into baggier pants. I also crimped her hair to make it more angular. In the context of this universe, cold colors have naturally colder body temperatures, so they have to wear insulated clothing to stay chilly; the overall baggier clothes really just fixed all of my issues with her design honestly. Better for her personality type, prettier silhouette, in-universe reasoning, etc. Scrumptious.
Lime Pie - I decided to swap out her cargo pants for a long skirt, and let her hair down. This was mostly because, with the monochrome outfit she needed to wear, the turtleneck+cargo pants combo just wouldnt work without looking Pretty Bad. It also helps her outfit stand out a bit more, as she’s now the only character in the main cast that is wearing a skirt. She’s meant to be an inversion of the “nerdy girl lets her hair down and puts on a dress and Now She Is Popular” trope, so the idea is that when she earns her 2nd color, she will start wearing her hair up again, and the cargo pants can come back. Maybe.
Marshmallow Fluff - I honestly hit the nail on the head with this one in the initial batch of concepts I did, so I didnt change much lol. The biggest change is that I made her hair light again. This was because shes obviously meant to have a cloud motif, but her sister (who I rarely post about lol) has a thundercloud motif-- basically, I’m just saying that the darker hair is gonna go to her sister instead.
Banana Pudding - Again, she looks almost exactly the same. I just changed the red outline of her original dress to be less contrasting, since I got a lot of people asking if she’d earned two colors or not. Hopefully, its more clear now that she’s only earned one.
Watermelon Sorbet - As much as I liked her original design, many many people told me she looked like a ‘cool yoga instructor’ character. Which, while not terrible, wasn't exactly what I was going for; she’s meant to be more of an ‘edm dancer’ kind of character. So, I decided to change out her pants for bigger legwarmers that I’m hoping make her look a bit more hyper active.
Thats all my notes lol. I have no idea if anyone is gonna read this far, but if you do, thanks :’) I fully realize that making so many notes about this looks silly, considering theyre OCs and not like ..... widely known characters. So Im sure a lot of what Ive said just sounds like gibberish. But its fun to ME!!!!!!!!
I’ve got more character designs to post over the next week or so; namely, the 3 Antagonists (Grape Soda, Orange Custard, and Angel Cake) + the parents (which includes 2 characters Ive never shown before, but Im very excited to share lol). Those posts wont be accompanied with longwinded notes like this one is; Im just the most excited about these designs and wanted to talk about them.

WRITING TIPS🗣️

hello and welcome to my soup. my letter soup. someone asked a very long time ago if i had any writing advice, and i said no, because writing is very in my head for me, but having thought about it there are some tips over the years that have changed the way i write! so
no. 1
youve probably seen this before. its what i call in my head the 70% rule -
- characters should never communicate more than 70% of what they feel to those around them.
70% is an absolute max, too. most of the time, characters interacting with each other should only articulate 50-60% of what they mean. think of your own life and how much you can struggle to say what you want, or say what you need. you can’t say it perfectly, right? it might be due to the strength of what theyre feeling, difficulty being honest, where they are. the likelihood of ever being to perfectly articulate yourself is low. utilise that, it makes conversations so much more fun to read!

adding onto this, unreliable narrator should always, always (imo) play somewhat of a role in a narrative voice, unless omniscient third person is being used. i used to write a lot of first person pov, and now i prefer third person (growing up🤝🏻) but in third person a narrative voice can and still should be just as strong as in first person - tall ask, but its possible.
we are seeing the world through this character’s eyes: act like it. even if another character is a mess, if your pov character wouldnt notice it, the pov is going to be affected by that. they dont know what others are thinking or feeling. theyre guessing. and those guesses are going to be informed by their own experiences or perceptions of those around them, along with the world in general.

show not tell. this kiiind of links back to no2 bc its sort of related to narrative voice. trust your readers to pick up on implications and read between the lines. every single interaction / scene has purpose - and it doesnt have to be clear!! i promise that even if readers dont get the purpose, they’ll pick up on the vibes🫵🏻

you do not have to solve every plot hole or character flaw to show development. in fact id encourage you NOT to, especially if ur work is <30k.
i <3 toxicity and rancid vibes, so im a bit biased on this one. its definitely sort of an acquired taste. 😕✌🏻 but in short one shots (anything under 40/50k, id consider short, lol) fixing everything is unnecessary!! you can leave things unfinished! it makes everyone feel incredibly human and raw!!

relating to no4 slightly, tension.
never never never show your full hand. theres always something left to be revealed! whether its about the world itself, another character, or someone’s motivations, it needs to be kept secret. riiiight until the end
(this is more for longform writing)
finally
world - your characters have to be casual about where they are, with little exception. the BEST aus ive read are where the characters feel casual about the crazy things happening bc this is THEIR normal, and its taken for granted so much but it really makes or breaks a work.
slang or language, reactions to stuff that we as readers might be alarmed by but they arent - think a burn in a hospitality au or injuries in sports aus - they might not be as big a deal to the characters since this is their normal.
exceptions include charas thrown into ur world brand new / really big events - essentially you pick and choose where the biggest reactions are to events for plot🫶🏻

I wonder if the Skrall would have been more compelling as a threat and made the necessity to unite the villages more urgent by like... Exploiting the glatorian system.
So in the story they are already outsiders whom nobody likes. They do nothing but fight and enslave agori and glatorian. Their alliance with the bone hunters is treated as a shocking concept - which you could consider fair since the other tribes dont do alliances apparently - but in insight its not that surprising. Uniting the tribes against them is also just... not really necessary? The Glatorian work for whoever pays them or whatever they believe in, and theyre fully capable of coming together independently from the villages to kick the skrall into a new pair of pants - plus as mentioned, this is their job. If the tribes unite and the Glatorian system ends, they end up losing their main source of income. Hell, Tarix and Ackar made the rules for the system, everybodys worked hard to keep it going smoothly and it hasnt caused any trouble in one hundred thousand years. Why should they get rid of it?
The tune changes if the Skrall are smart enough to maintain a semblance of legality.
The thing is that the Glatorian system accidentally sets itself up to be exploited by the Skrall. They are a tribe of warriors, of course theyll thrive in an environment where disputes are solved by controlled fighting where side that wins gets everything they demanded without any more arguments. We enslaved some of your people because they were trespassing on our territory, if you want them back fight us. We want this spot that's in your area and would let us get more water, if you want to keep it fight us. We need resources and we decided we want yours, if you have something to say about it fight us. And because they are formidable in the arena they keep winning and thus expanding their hold on Bara Magna inch by inch, and nobody can say anything against them because they do so legally through the Glatorian system, and if they start complaining about it and not respect the outcomes of matches against the Skrall that will lead to people not respecting the other matches' outcomes either and theyll all fall back into a war. So they grit their teeth and bear it, because its still better than fighting directly.
Except the Skrall don't have the time to keep doing this forever. The Baterra are coming and they need more land to put between themselves and them, and this careful approach is too slow - so they need to crush the other tribes, catch them between two fires, weaken them until theyre easy prey and have no choice better than submitting to them - so here comes the alliance with the Bone Hunters, that nobody would imagine because who would be foolish enough to work with them? Not even the Skrall, certainly...
And this is why the tribes must unite. Because the peacekeeping order they made isnt ensuring their safety anymore, and their insistence in staying separate is only making them easier targets.
