Hadestown poster concept!!

I comPLETELY forgot about this, I think I made it for fun maybe right around graduating college, or sometime teetering on my college/PMDD/endo/newfound chronic pain burnout. (I think I discovered hadestown sometime in my second or third year and I’ve adored it since, might be my top musical. Definitely top 5)

It’s kind of oldish now but I think it’s still pretty good! I’ve gotta do more stuff like this!

My thoughts on Hazbin Hotel

Overall I did enjoy the show, but it’s very flawed. I think the characters and songs are great and the cast is amazing, but I don’t think the concept is executed very well. The main thing I have a problem with is that after finding out how corrupt heaven is, Charlie & co still see ‘redemption’ and going to heaven as something to be desired, even though redemption really means conforming to heaven’s double standards and being a good little Christian. I just wish that they had done something about how they don’t need heaven’s approval instead.

i have true and da capo stuck in my head. they’re both such delicate and lovely songs and they take immense talent to sing well while also keeping the tenderness and meaning of the songs. amalee did a pretty good cover of true but she added too much power to her voice during the chorus, which is impressive on a technical level but it doesn’t quite fit the song.

they’re goodbyes. they’re sorrowful and soft with just a hint of optimism for the future, even if old friends won’t be there, even if your story will never finish and will only continue through those you hold dear to your heart. and it takes a lot of talent to be schooled to make people understand what the song is about and feel through just the sound of your voice.

#there’s also a weird electronic buzz to her voice when she sings that part and i don’t know if it’s intentional but it is distracting #but that’s just a nitpick #overall she did really well it’s just not a good fit for the song imo #honkai impact

They have to go on a 14 year long journey to finish the job but by god they will do it.#The sheer chaos in the Audio Drama is really fantastic. Reminds me of those traincar murder mysteries.#The lights go off and there's a scream and then BOOM dead body. Who did that!!!#Okay it was qi deviation and he did it to stop himself from killing his brother. He did it to himself.#JGY sadly has the worst alibi ever though. Both the strongest motivation and also uhhh presence at the scene.#Not to nitpick but as someone who loves murder mysteries - I do feel like even *one* other suspect would have made it stronger.#I get that he tried to make it look like an inevitable Qi Deviation and that it *is* something within the family legacy.#And a big part of NHS figuring it all out comes down to his own perceptiveness and intelligence.#If you weren't close enough to JGY and NMJ of course it looks like an accident.#Sadly 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card'' is also weak to 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card''.#NHS was the better subtle manipulator at the end. That's probably the strongest mystery part of MDZS. And why he's in my top 5.#My man pulled the 'kill him just as he falls from the top of his game and loses everything' gambit and I love him for it.

Artists really gotta stop giving “do this ✅ don’t do this ❌” style art advice. I understand having personal icks but there are no hard and fast rules in art, people aren’t doing it wrong if they draw something in a way you don’t personally enjoy, and it comes off very arrogant and anti-stylization

#it’s sorta fair if it’s like instructing on how to draw fat ppl or ppl of color properly but like #most of the time when I see it it’s incredibly stupid and unimportant nitpicks #like ‘don’t draw clothes flesh with the body’ or ‘don’t draw too many wrinkles on hands/clothes’ or whatever #just leave it alone let people stylize in the ways they want #not everyone has to draw conventionally attractive fuckable anime style sit down #lyla’s talking again

Finished Silvio's route, solid 8/10. I mean I still have questions and things I wanted to see explored. Like more about Silvio's past and why he behaved why he did. I mean I got a glimpse of it in the dramatic route a bit. Maybe I will do the romantic route too someday. Congrats Silvio, you got into the second playthrough team. But I'm satisfied with this. So here are some sketches of the ultimate tsundere. I really love that the guy that is all about the money and wealth has taken blue as his primary color. And it is that Lapis Lazuli kind blue = one of the most, if not, the most expensive pigment made. I'm really curious why his hair has a small tuft of dark blue color there. Has he dyed it? Is it natural?

Also more my ramblings... In the prologue, as they set the world, they talk about how this game takes place in late medieval time. (of course a fictional world, but not like fantasy, with magic and such (shame really, I would love there to be some magical elements there)). BUT the clothes... the fashion... They are very modern in many aspects. I know, i know, this is very nit picky of me. This is pretty much like Bridgeton. A period fiction. But really, they didn't need to go give us a reference to a certain time period xd They could have left it even more vague. But alas... This is not really a criticism, as I can totally see past this. I just find it funny.

BUT ONE THING THAT MADE ME PUT MY PHONE DOWN FOR A MINUTE WAS THIS:

My young horse girl self just was ready to smack Silvio off his horse. You don't use reins to encourage horse to go faster! Not even with the carriages either. But especially not when you actually ride a horse. Reins are for steering and slowing down. You use weight and your legs to apply pressure to horse's sides to encourage them to go faster. (ideally you could do this only by using weight, but that needs skill and a sensitive and well trained horse.) Routes and ratings so far (my opinion purely, there is nothing else to it really): 1. Clavis's route, dramatic ending + epilogue. I laughed so much and the theme was very interesting. Cyran was MVP. 9/10 2. Silvio's route, dramatic ending + epilogue. He was an asshole, I wasn't disappointed. Enjoyed the ride and the political shit with usage of money. Giving me Itachi vibes with the gesture of messing your hair. Could have used more Carlo. Also where is Emidio?? 8/10 3. Licht's route, dramatic ending. He edgy but sweet. I wanted to see more of twins being twins and I got some of that. I was happy :slight_smile: And he loves horses, more points from that. 7.5/10 (the reason why I didn't do epilogue for Licht was because I didn't use walkthrough and I didn't want to start paying for those points :0 4. Nokto's route, dramatic ending + epilogue . Playboy, got what I asked for. Entertaining. Could have needed more time with Licht. I want to see brothers being brothers. 7/10 I see my style evolve and I kinda like it. Indulging my teenage aesthetic. Sometimes face shapes get all weird and I'm not sure if it is because they are weird or that I'm becoming blind to them and am just trying to find something weird.

Creators in this fandom are subjected to such an intense amount of criticism especially historical Hetalia fandom in particular. It is honestly suffocating sometimes. We hold creators in this fandom at a level we don't even hold Himaruya to. People assume malintent, without realizing there is often so much they haven't seen in a creator's portrayal of a character. Often there is hours and hours of research into all aspects of history of a country that you don't see that the creator has done.

I find myself constantly hesitant to explore more historical stuff in my own works because of this. I find myself hesitant to explore parts of the world I know less about for the same fears. I wouldn't be surprised if others are turned away from creating in this fandom because they too are worried about this.

I want people to understand that people don't create with malintent. Portraying a country a certain way doesn't mean they justify every part of that nation's history. The opposite is also true. And yes these nations are nations but they are human and it doesn't always mean their relationships with one another are exact copies of irl relations between countries.

Another thing is we shouldn't get mad at creators for using canon information in their works if you don't agree with that aspect of canon.

Finally I want people to understand that creators work to create a narrative however, every aspect of a nation cannot fit perfectly in a story of one character. It just can't.

My extremely minor pet peeve in designs with computer screens for faces is Im slightly bummed when people draw the face being “real” instead of a digital display on the screen.
