SteveTony Weekly - May 9
Tumblr media
Happy Sunday!! Here’s what I’ve been reading this week. As always, leave your fic authors some love if you read and enjoy their stories!
**Indicates my recent favs
~*~
pretty little thing by areiton (MCU/2K)
Steve isn’t little. He isn’t fragile and precious, a treasure to be hoarded. Maybe he never was, but now, now, now with his too big body and his broad shoulders and miles of muscles--
Now he sure as hell isn’t.
It was the Fourth of July by seratonation (Proposal AU / 12K)
Based on The Proposal. Steve has been Tony’s assistant for 3 years when he finds out that Tony is actually not American and is going to be deported. Tony talks Steve into getting married but Steve insists on seeing his family first. Tony invites himself along to make sure his plan doesn't go awry, but unfortunately Steve’s family is actually pretty amazing.
Object: Matrimony by BladoftheNebula (A/B/O /38K)
Omega Tony Stark craves adventure and an escape from the life his parents have planned for him in New York. He places a listing in a marriage catalogue to seek a match with an alpha out West, and Sheriff Steve Rogers answers his advertisement. But finding a nice alpha doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing from there...
- A Mail Order Bride AU -
***Papa Don’t Preach (Series) by FestiveFerret & SirSapling (Ultimates/102k)
"Whoever did this has a reason, and Stark needs to be with someone who can protect him. He won’t exactly be able to protect himself like this.” Fury looked at the baby consideringly. “No, it’s you, Steve. Besides, he likes you. Suck it up, soldier, you’re stuck with him.”
Treasured by HashtagLEH (Warlord AU/9K)
No one in Manhattan spoke their language – or at least, no one fessed up to it – and so all of the negotiating was done with Natasha acting as translator. Steve didn’t think it mattered, because he had told the ones who would leave the ship earlier that day that he had no intention of accepting any treaty, that they would lay siege to this city before the week was out.
But then Natasha stilled beside him at something that Stane had said to them, and Steve focused in, more alert. Something was wrong, he could feel it, but he didn’t know what with everyone speaking what may as well be gibberish all around him.
“He offers an unmated, untouched Omega,” she told him, not taking her eyes from the bald man at the other end of the table.
An unmated – what? He wanted to trade an Omega? Did he not have any idea of an Omega’s value? Surely his resources would be better spent whisking the Omega away to safety before the city was set to waste.
Natasha was looking to him for direction, confirmation, he didn’t know. So he told her, his voice placid and even and giving nothing away. “Accept the negotiations. Don’t let on that I want that Omega the most."
***Take My Heart Clean Apart by Mistmountainking (MCU/13K)
He’s tired, so tired of waiting, tired of touches with no meaning, tired of holding his breath when Steve’s in the room, tired of keeping this love to himself.
 “I can’t—I can’t, if you don’t mean it.”
***
Tony comes home exhausted after an SI event. Steve acts as welcoming committee. It's an old, careworn routine they've perfected over the years, but tonight ends up going in a very different direction.
And the world keeps spinning by Perpetual Motion (Comic/15k)
He considers everything he knows. His keys don't work. Bucky's in his apartment. There's a gun to his head. He doesn't have his phone or his Avengers tag. "I died."
T is for Thong by Elspethdixon (Marvel616/2K)
Naked might actually have been slightly less distracting. Tony was… almost wearing… a tiny, tight scrap of red fabric that most definitely didn't hide anything.
***Orbiter dictum by schmevil (MCU/7K)
Steve is at the sink, washing the few dishes that pizza for two generates, when he realizes that Tony is in love with him.
Nothing important happened today by thedevilchicken (MCU/17K)
Steve's stuck in a time loop. Sometimes he's not sure he wants to get out of it.
***Off grid by Letterblade (MCU/7K)
Steve and Tony go camping, bears are the greatest threat facing America, and tick tweezers are the best invention of the decade.
Some form of electricity by FestiveFerret & SirSapling (AU/57K)
Steve doesn’t know what he’d do without Tony, and thank god he has him, because after getting the phone call that Bucky’s alive, everything is a blur. But Tony gets him there, all the way to Germany. It isn’t until he’s watching his friend lie motionless in a hospital bed that it really hits him.
Bucky is coming home, and he’s coming home broken.
The stark-tangled man with a crappy plan by Serinah (A/B/O / 13K)
*At first, it seemed to be an easy job: find the O, secure the O, and hand him over to his guardian and the fiance. Simple. Unfortunately, the omega wasn't onboard. At all.*
OR:
Steve has to return a runaway omega to his guardian Mr. Stane.
Stories we never tell by ashes0909 (A/B/O / 32K
One could argue, it was none of Steve’s business. The omega was obviously bonded to the alpha, even if the bond was one-way. That bite was all society needed to overlook the transgressions that Steve had witnessed on the sidewalk. But Steve wasn’t society, and waking up decades in the future, he’d been disappointed by what had changed and what had very much stayed the same.
As hoarded as gold by FestiveFerret (Soulmate AU/12K)
Steve wakes up in a new world, in 2008, and joins the Avengers where he finally gets to meet the man whose name has been imprinted on his skin since birth. But Tony Stark is closed-off, distant, and disinterested. While Steve is trying to come to grips with finding out his soulmate doesn't want him, he can't help but notice the decline of Tony's health. Worried about his heart after the arc reactor, Steve steps up to help him, but when Tony confesses what's really wrong, it's not at all what Steve expected.
Patience by FestiveFerret & SirSapling (AU / 8K)
Try as he might, Steve just couldn't seem to paint the arc reactor quite right. And it was driving him crazy.
***Love’s such an old-fashioned word by AnnieD (MCU/11K)
Steve gets the very brilliant idea that he and Tony should date, but Tony needs some convincing.
I saw cap kissing santa claus by Mizzy (Marvel 616/7K)
When Tony dressed as Santa for Queen County Hospital's annual toy drive, he wasn't expecting Steve to recognize him...as Iron Man.
Disjointed by veryvincible (Horror /16k)
His hands— cold, clammy, lightly trembling— reached for the glass of water on his nightstand. His grip was tight; he knew he would drop it if given the chance.
It was lukewarm against his lips, and wholly unsatisfying. His forearms shook slightly with the tension, the tremors in his hands causing a noticeable shift in the water. It had a syrup-y quality to it as it dipped back and forth in its glass, almost, though he hadn’t noticed the difference in texture as he drank. The longer he stared, the lower the viscosity, as if it noticed him perceiving it and willfully moved with less ease.
Christmas affair by Neverever (MCU/6K)
Tony thinks that Steve will be proposing to him after many years of living together, except that Steve has a secret that could ruin it all.
Unknown caller (Do Not Engage) by gottalovev (Non-Powered/13k)
Steve had one job: exchange a couple of texts with a guy who thought he had Natasha's number, and let him down gently. It ends up being a lot more complicated than that.
***Genesis by teaberryblue (Ultimates/35k)
Reluctant to make the truth about their secret weapon known, the American Government tells the world that Captain America is a man named Steve Rogers. According to public record, he died, tragically, in 1945, and he became legend.
In 1998, the Avengers find a body trapped in ice.
She's alive.
Her name is Eve.
She has Captain America's shield.

“Absolutely not.”
Protesting groans fill the common room.
“Why not?” Clint whines.
Steve scowls, placing his hands on his hips. “What do you mean ‘why not’?”
“I mean, it isn’t going to kill him. It’s harmless.”
“How is that—”
Thor nods solemnly, grabbing a bite from his Pop-Tart. “I dare say, I must agree with Clinton—”
“Please don’t call me Clint—”
“Why not? ‘Tis a fine name!”
“Yeah, but—”
“Aside from that,” Thor continues, changing the subject, “I do not see the harm of—”
“There’s a lot of harm!” Steve insists. “A lot of harm in—”
“Harm to Tony?” Natasha says coolly. She barely spares any of them a glance, taking a long sip from her mug of hot chocolate. “Or harm to you?”
Steve stills, his heart leaping in his chest. “This has nothing to do with me.”
“Uh-huh. Sure it doesn't,” Clint drawls, propping his legs on top of the coffee table. Bruce immediately nudges it off. “Us thinking of setting up the guy you’ve been pining—”
“I’m not—”
“And there’s the denial,” Natasha says dryly at the same time Clint continues, “—for with someone who isn't you doesn’t piss you off.”
“How am I—”
Four pairs of eyes stare right back in blatant judgment.
Finally, Steve lets out the sigh he’s been holding back since they started this meeting.
It’s already bad enough that he was rouse from his sleep at two, three in the morning for this. It’s too early to deal with this. Or well, ever.
“Fine. Bruce and I—”
Bruce has the audacity to flash him a sheepish smile. “Sorry, Cap.”
Steve groans. “Seriously? You too? Am I the only one that thinks this is just—just—”
“Come on, Cap,” Clint says. “We all know Tony needs some pick-me-up. Locking himself up and moping over his last breakup isn’t healthy.”
“He’s not—”
“He was crying last Movie Night. And you know he hardly cries during Movie Night.”
“I mean, if the movie's—”
“We were watching Inception.”
“Inception has—”
“He was crying during the fight scenes. And for half of the movie.”
Well… Well.
Steve hadn’t been there for that, having been on a mission for SHIELD. It’s hard for him to figure out whether Clint’s lying, considering everyone else is murmuring in agreement.
He gets Natasha, Thor even. But for Bruce to agree with Clint without any hesitation is just unheard of.
Steve exhales, holding his hands up in surrender. “Fine. You guys do whatever want. It’s not like you planned on even listening—”
“No, we weren’t.”
Steve scowls, Natasha brightening in return.
He’d think that being Captain America and the leader of the Avengers, he’d have some form of respect and authority over them. But no, he’s just a leader to a bunch of stubborn kids. Teenagers.
Sometimes he wonders what he did wrong to land himself in this situation, in this era. Not wholeheartedly because the thought of not meeting Tony is just ab—
“You know he’s going to hate this, right?”
  *****
 “I think it’s a great idea.”
Steve does a double-take at that. In fact, everyone’s staring at Tony in puzzlement. Except for Natasha but that's hardly surprising. Nothing fazes her.
What's surprising is Tony's reaction. The Tony in front of them can’t be the same Tony who has to be dragged or hauled out of his workshop for meals or gatherings, let alone galas and big parties. For him to willingly agree to be set up on blind dates by his friends is a huge breakthrough.
A breakthrough Steve hates but a breakthrough nonetheless.
Tony cocks an eyebrow, setting his screwdriver down. “What? Why’re you all staring at me like that? I agreed to it. Isn’t that what you guys want?”
Clint smacks his lips together. “Well, yeah. But—”
“We do not mean to insult your intelligence, my friend,” Thor replies. “We assumed you will not be amenable to our proposition.”
“Well, Winghead wasn’t,” Natasha cuts in.
“Still isn’t,” Clint pipes up.
Steve makes a mental note to double their drills during the next training session.
“I just thought you wouldn’t like it,” he explains when Tony trains his curious gaze on him. “Going on blind dates, I mean.”
“It’ll be a nice distraction,” Tony says after a beat. “It’s pretty overdue, anyway. Probably good for me to get into the dating game again and try to—”
“I don’t know. Isn’t it too soon?”
“It’s never too soon to date,” Tony counters. “Sides’, Pepper and I broke up... What? Seven months ago? I think it’s high time I get back into things. Go out. Have some fun.”
“And being around m—us isn’t fun?”
Once again, all eyes are on him. A snicker fills the awkward pause. Steve makes another note to triple the drills for Clint.
“I think Tony meant a different kind of fun,” Bruce offers.
Tony directs his screwdriver in his direction, grinning. “Right on the money. I’m not saying you guys aren’t fun to be around because you are—”
“We love you too.”
“Sure you do, birdbrain. But yeah. You guys are fun and all but it’ll be nice to go out and have a nice time in a less platonic setting, you know? Have some little flirting going on—”
But I flirt with you all the time, Steve grumbles.
Sure, they always go unnoticed every single goddamn time but it’s flirting all the same. If Tony wants someone to flirt with him, Steve’s his guy. In fact, he could—
“—and maybe fall in love—”
“Fall in love?”
Steve almost claps his hand over his mouth as once again, several pairs of eyes zero in on him, most of them in mirth.
He really, really hates himself sometimes.
Tony raises his eyebrows. “You seem pretty adamant of me staying single for the rest of my life.”
“Yeah, Cap,” Clint adds, smirking. “Why’re you so— Ow!”
Natasha might get her drills halved for that.
“I’m not trying to stop you from—from falling in love,” Steve says, the words heavy on his tongue. “I just— Well, I— You know—”
Tony frowns, his eyes roving around Steve’s face before softening. “Alright, guys,” he says, clapping his hands. “Clear the room. Steve and I are gonna have a lovely chat alone.”
Their friends move to vacate the room, not without protests from Clint. As soon as the door closes shut behind them, Tony shifts his attention to Steve, crossing his arms.
Steve feels like he’s being put on trial.
“It’s been months, Steve.”
“I know—”
“You know I’ve moved on—”
“I know. I just… I just...”
“Is there something you want to tell me?”
God, there are so, so many things he wants to say. All the words and sentences clash in his head, swirling around in a whirlpool of anxiety, hope, and fear.
I think you’re making a mistake in agreeing to this.
I think our friends aren’t thinking things through.
I think you deserve better than blind dates.
I think you should date me.
“No. Nothing at all.”
Steve swears there’s a flicker of disappointment that crosses Tony’s face before it vanishes.
“Don’t you worry that pretty little head of yours,” he says, poking Steve in the ribs. “I’m a big boy. I know how to handle a little date. Nothing I can't handle.”
“Four dates.”
Tony's eyebrows arch. “You’re not giving it a go?”
Steve shakes his head. “Don’t really know anyone who’d be interested,” he lies.
Tony gasps, clutching his heart. “How dare them? I am a catch.”
“Uh-huh. Sure you are.”
“I am, you asshole. FYI, I was voted Sexiest Man Alive thrice.”
“Good for you,” Steve says dryly.
“Asshole,” Tony mutters, spinning on his heel. “Fine. Be like that. Whatever. Good talk. Now shoo. I have—”
“Oh no, you don’t,” Steve interrupts, resting his hand on Tony’s shoulder. Years ago, Tony would’ve shrugged him off. Now, Steve’s glad Tony’s willing to let Steve touch him, let alone hand him things. “We’re having breakfast. Bruce's making breakfast tacos and you are going to join us.”
“But I have—” Tony scowls. “Stop that.”
“Stop what?”
“The puppy dog eyes. You know I hate—” Steve flutters his eyelashes. “Ugh, fuck you, Steven.”
Steve couldn’t help but cackle as Tony storms out, striding to hurry after him.
If he hasn’t been savoring his time with Tony, well, he’s going to savor it so much more now. His borrowed time with Tony might be shortened very soon.

MCU/Marvel Characters Tag Game
thankyou for the tag <33 @meidui
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most):
Tony duhhh. I'm not even kidding when I say i can legitimately write an essay on how much I love him <3 + he's the one that got me into MCU/Marvel in general. He's such a complex character and the things that really made me admire him the most are when he conquers his personal demons. One of the things that I love about him the most is that he just tries to be good, and there's just something so inherently human about it that you don't really see in other popular superheroes. And while his actions/decisions may sometimes be vilified by people, I've always empathised with what he does because I (and Steve LOL, see that Captain America/Iron Man Annual (2021) Issue #2) feel that his heart has always been in the right place. I can go on and on about him, but I once saw someone say this about Tony (especially 616!Tony i.e.) is that while all superheroes are willing to risk their lives for a noble purpose, Tony's willing to sell his soul.
(I don't want to flood people's dashboard so)
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped):
Yelena <33 honestly I started liking her before Black Widow came out just on the basis that she's canonically asexual in 616 + I saw that Florence Pugh was gonna play her in MCU. And hello??? A badass Russian assassin who can kill people with her bare hands and has the same sexuality as me?? Listen, there's not a lot of asexual characters out there okay, and when they are, they're not exactly in a media that I would want to watch (I literally cannot force myself to watch something just on that basis alone so). While watching Black Widow, I was just so smitten by her!! Look at her, she's so cute!! A squishy lil baby that i wanna cuddle with and give kisses all over her face <33
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave):
Kate!! Idk, is she underrated? I don't venture out much bc I like being in this stevetony fandom bubble so idk if she is or not <3 but cmon, look at her and how can you not ADORE her?? she has a good sense of humour, she just wants to do her best in helping the people around her and she's so relatable LOLOLOL bc if I were to ever meet Tony (yes ik he's not real, im not actl insane guys even though I've said I am 100000 times), I would NOT be cool also and would just follow him around the same way she did with Clint
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) :
DUM-E LOLOLOLOL!! BRUH I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO SCREAMED WHEN I SAW HIM IN SPIDER-MAN NO WAY HOME OKAY?? You guys can all judge me if you want but I do not care! I have never, ever been happier!!!
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave):
Wanda. She IS controversial (in MCU) and I get it because of reasons that I wouldn't be able to explain as clearly as someone else (im incoherent 99% of the time). I'd love to be able to say that I have a strong moral compass that points North all the time to be able to not like her, but I can't help but do. I didn't like her before WandaVision, however, I do blame the writers for that and wished they didn't write her MCU origins the way they did!!! UGH!!! But yeah, the part that made me start liking her in Wandavision was that last episode where the townspeople were confronting her for her actions and she was just crying because she finally realised that her actions are hurting people. And I guess im just excited to see where her character arc is going to go, and I'm fine if MCU wants to make it a redemption arc or a corruption arc because (to me) she's complex and interesting enough for it.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason):
Tony, of course, horse plinko should always be your blorbo <333 i just love seeing my favourite characters (in whatever fandom) be tormented <333 you think Marvel has tortured him enough? Yeah, well I like to see fic writers hurt him 10x worse bc he suffers beautifully okay? Have u seen those panels of 616!Tony just full-on crying/bleeding/bruised (with a full-on existential crisis to boot) and mcu!tony with the bruises on his face and tears in his eyes??
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell):
Howard Stark (616!Howard Stark especially), must i elaborate?? lol.
tagging: @thahiree @avengersprotectionsquad @alwaysash13 @dodqerevans and anyone who wants to do it (you can choose the fandom u want to talk about, it doesn't have to be mcu/marvel!)
It's fun reading people's thoughts on characters LOLOL

Note
any winteriron blogs you'd recommend? kinda new to the ship 👀 thanks!
absolutely!! i can’t promise that all of these blogs are exclusively winteriron, but most of them are my go-tos for buckytony stuff!!
writing:
@riotfalling:  Riot does all of it, crack, fluff, angst, and has some of the most delicious nsfk stuff (her kinktober last year is actually how we met). She’s currently doing a buckytony bdsm series with @therollingstonys (Stella)
@anthonyed: Ana’s stuff is the stuff of legends. she does both drabbles and longer, bigger fics and both of them are so brilliant. ive been in love with her work since forever
@imposter-human: absolute gem to the mcu fandom, and particularly to the buckytony fandom - brooklyn churns out fics faster than anyone ive ever seen. she could single-handedly run the content for the fandom and we’d never run out. i think she’s got upwards of 100 fics on her ao3?? which should tell you just how much she writes
@wintersoldierland: Kat is currently on a hiatus (she’s on a sabbatical in the witcher fandom) but she has the most delightful stuff
@iam93percentstardust: Alle is possibly one of my favourite people in the whole world, and only a small portion of that is how talented she is. all of her fics deserve an incredible amount of love
@kimannhart: one stop shop for your buckytony needs. absolutely amazing and i love Jo endlessly
@hddnone: i dare you to find a fic by OP that’s bad. its just not possible
@deathsweetqueen: Simi has a special place in my heart because she writes Indian Tony, and all of her fics are so rich. they’re beautiful, and all completely binge-worthy
art:
@monobuu: OP has this adorable style that always makes me 🥰 because they capture Tony’s bambi eyes so perfectly
@anthon-e: OP is largely stevetony but they have some amazing buckytony pieces (one of which i commissioned so check it out)
@beir: if OP’s art doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy inside i have no idea what will
@catalus208: i only very recently discovered OP but they have some very cute pieces!!
@gayspacesprinkles: absolutely adorable style. i love everything OP comes up with
@seijishun: OP currently has a dancer series going on that is the sole provider of my serotonin
also, im going to drop in a couple of names of people who i think are fandom staples!!
@27dragons and @tisfan: both authors have separate works, but they tend to collaborate together a lot on a whole plethora of buckytony fics (the Nights in Sandbridge series is the stuff of myth and legend. its a fandom staple.
@hawkbucks: some of the most well thought and detailed AUs ive ever read in my life, and also does art occasionally!!
@aurumacadicus: OP writes for a whole plethora of fics, and is a very good place to go for rarepairs - but also has some amazing buckytony stuff!! (im partial to Yield, but there’s a whole bunch)
@lovelyirony: Jess also dabbles in a lot of rarepairs, but her buckytony stuff is the *chef’s kisses*
@NaturoRox: i have to be very honest, i don’t actually know if OP is still in the fandom, but they have the most amazing fics
@not-close-to-straight: a fandom great. ‘nuff said
@rayshippouuchiha: i think it might be illegal to mention buckytony without mentioning the absolute queen herself
and if you’ll indulge me for a second, im going to rec my absolute favourite buckytony series of all time (that i am still hoping will one day be updated because its just so beautiful)
We’ll Meet Again (Some Sunny Day): @tangodancer91 (four part series)
Stranded in the past, Toni Stark builds herself a new life, far from superheroes and corporate expectations
those are all my recs!! welcome to the buckytony fandom, we’re not extremely large but there’s a lot of us to go around so this is by no means an exhaustive list. i hope you enjoy your time!!

stevetony fic recs
BUCKLE UP MY DUDES THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE
here are my recs for steve/tony fics that i seriously think need a ton more love! (aka, have less than a 1k kudos lol)
starts w angsty recs, then fluff, then pwps
Pyriscence by @nostalgicatsea, 6.9k, MCU
written pre-release of endgame, but damn. so good. i cried.
She also knows this: Tony handed over his heart to Steve—to all of them but most of all to Steve—along with the keys to his house the day he recruited them.
Even if Steve knew that, Natasha isn’t sure he would keep it anyway. She knows he thinks himself undeserving.
She knows it’s because he loves Tony.
A Long, Lonely Time by asktheravens, 58.5k, MCU
holy SHIT, this was a WILD FUCKING RIDE. totally unique.
Author’s summary: Steve returned from the war injured in body and mind- and able to see the dead. At loose ends and desperate to get out of New York City, he accepts a fellowship through the Stark Foundation and retreats to a quiet lake house on the grounds of the Stark Mansion. He's supposed to be there to paint, but he quickly realizes that the house is more than he bargained for. Anthony Stark died here a decade ago, but was it an accident? A suicide? Or a murder? Obadiah Stane still lives in the main house just up the hill, and the past casts a long shadow.
A Cabin in the Woods by nightwalker @onemuseleft, 26.7k, MCU I really don't want to spoil this but this fic has it ALL - fluff, funny dialogue, and ELDRITCH HORRORS
Author’s summary: It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, a chance for them to spend some time as a couple and work out some of the kinks in their relationship. That was before everything got weird.
Steve Rogers is a Tactical Genius by @swankyo0, 2.6k, MCU
I love when Steve is assertive and knows what he’s doing (in terms of romancing Tony)
“What’s up, Cap?” Tony’s voice is light but Steve can tell it’s forced.
“Tony Stark, you and I are going out,” Steve starts, his voice a bit more commanding than he had planned. “We are going to get dinner at a nice place, and I’m going to open doors for you and let you pay because you are a stubborn ass. I’m going to bring you a gift and you are going to accept it because I am a stubborn ass. And at the end of the night I am going to walk you to your door and there will be a kiss good night, because I’m gonna do this right, damn it.”
when i run out of road, you bring me home by @quidhitch, 18.4k, MCU
Tony buys a farm. Steve lives in the farm beside Tony's. (Featuring: Riri Williams!)
“It’s no use trying to keep him out, Tony supposes. He learned a long time ago that he could plaster his whole body with signage declaring ‘WARNING: HAZARDOUS MATERIAL’, and it would only further tempt Steve Rogers’ self-immolating tendencies.”
call me, maybe by ohmyloki @bootycap, 1.8k, MCU
Tony hums, bouncing up to the balls of his feet for a second as he looks around the gallery. “I’ve got an idea.”
Steve narrows his eyes at him. “I’ve only just met you but I get the feeling that phrase tends to get you in trouble.”
Tony laughs, and Steve’s heart does what feels like a little pirouette in his chest.
“You have no idea how right you are, Steve.”
There’s a deep sense of satisfaction in the way Tony says his name. He wants to hear it again. Which is partly why he can’t be blamed for what comes out of his mouth next.
let me be the one (who never leaves you all alone) by ohmyloki @bootycap, 11.7k, MCU
It was Tony’s wide, brilliant eyes, the rare full-blown smile when he’d accomplished something he’d struggled with, the way he couldn’t seem to stop himself from talking when he came up with a new idea and wanted to show off. Like an excited little kid, ever at odds with the man who drank too much and thought too little of himself. These thoughts of Tony’s kindness, generosity and brilliant mind ran an undercurrent beneath the fantasy of Tony’s slick, tanned skin, and perfectly shaped upper lip. That was when it struck Steve.
Maybe he could have this. Maybe he could have Tony... if Tony would have him.
Get Down On Your Knees And Tell Me You Love Me by @heartsandmuses, 5.1k, MCU
Author’s summary: When Steve opens the page to this month’s calendar, he freezes as he catches sight of a reminder in the space for next Friday, exactly a week from now. PROPOSAL!
Motherlode by nanasekei @elcorhamletlive, 6.8k, MCU
Author’s summary: After Steve returns, though they've made up, his relationship with Tony remains distant.
“Great,” Steve says, smiling brightly, and Tony can’t, he just can’t handle that smile. It makes him want to float and giggle and dance and do all sorts of crazy things. It makes him want to kiss Steve.
He clutches his hands, giving in to one indulgence over the insane, dangerous other. “Awesome. That’s, that’s awesome.” Then, out of sheer despair, he reaches for another salmon roll, popping it in his mouth.
On the plus side, it gives something to busy his mouth with that isn’t, you know, Steve’s lips. On the down side, he’s now awkwardly chewing with a full mouth in front of Steve.
That seems to remind Steve of the forgotten pig-in-a-blanket on his hand, and he hurriedly eats it, cheeks flushing a little.
So now they’re both chewing. It’s great.
if I time it right, the thunder breaks (when I open my mouth) by nanasekei @elcorhamletlive, 11.9k, MCU
Or: Five Times Steve told Tony he loved him, and one time he didn't need to.
“That is the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever done for me.”  He pauses for a moment, winded, and Tony looks at him now, mouth curling to fight back what Steve knows would be a self-satisfied smile. “I love you.”
Tony freezes.
Steve… Steve wonders for a second what the best course of action would be, going through all the options, including running to the garden and asking Thor to drown him in the pool for good. He has no idea why it slips out now, exactly, but at this point he has no idea what tiny thing Tony is going to do that’s going to cause a fluttering feeling in his chest.
Strategic Thinking: Armor Wars Edition by Annie D (scaramouche) @no-gorms, 1.8k, Avengers Academy
Tony tries to pull his hand away, but it’s half-hearted. Tony’s neck is flushed pink, which Steve finds far more charming that he probably should. But that’s all right – it’s Tony, who makes Steve think all sorts of things he’d never before.
Every True Thing by @dirigibleplumbing, 3.9k, MCU
Author’s summary: After escaping captivity, Steve and Tony go to a safe house. Ordinarily, it would just be boring. But they’ve both been dosed with truth serum…
“You like it, then?”
“Of course I like it, it’s you.”
“But, I don’t want you to like it just because it’s me, I want you to like it because I’m good at it. You’re good at it, you—know what you’re doing.” Steve blurts this into Tony’s neck, glad that he doesn’t have to look Tony in the face while he speaks.
Mission: Improbable by @cptxrogers, 5.6k, Avengers Assemble Author's summary: Tony is called on to investigate strange events which have been occurring in the upper echelons of society recently. There's just one small issue - he needs Steve to pose as his date for the evening.
Tony glanced around. “I think they’ve moved on. We can get back to work now.” “Are you sure?” Steve asked, a little too quickly. Perhaps the men might still be around. Perhaps might come back. Perhaps they’d need to hide by kissing some more.
Steve Rogers Does (Not Do) Marriage Counseling by Neverever @captainneverever , 6.4k, MCU
Tony stared incredulously at Steve. “Are you that dense?” “No,” Steve replied miserably. “Basically, you’re telling me that you wouldn’t know what to do if someone made a pass at you.” “I wouldn’t know what a pass is or was. That’s what I’m saying.” “So you wouldn’t call shoving your hand on my ass a pass?”
The Fear of Consequences by @keptein, 4.5k, MCU Author's summary: It really isn't a problem. Then one day, Tony looks at Steve and thinks, shit. It might be mutual.
“Cap,” Tony says helplessly. The tomatoes roll around on the brown tile, barely visible in the tower's automatic night light settings.
Steve looks angry, and Tony's suddenly reminded that shit, this guy fought in World War II. It's not usually something you can see on his face. “Why are you avoiding me?” he asks, without preamble, eyes never leaving Tony's face.
“I.. haven't been?” It comes out a question, which really wasn't what Tony wanted at all. “I mean, I haven't been avoiding you, of course I haven't. I've just been busy, you know, Iron Man maintenance, and just because Pepper's CEO of Stark Industries now doesn't mean I don't have to do shit, unfortunately.“ He bends down to avoid Steve's stare and starts to pick up the tomatoes, until he feels Steve's large, warm hand on his shoulder. It startles him into looking up, still bent down with his hand reaching for a tomato. “Cap,” Tony says, and is absurdly proud when the name doesn't lose its warning tint.
Together, At Dawn by RoseGoldAmpersand, 8.1k, MCU
Lingering in his past and missed opportunities, Steve was overcome with the urge to check in on his teammate. As team captain, it was the right thing to do. Nobody would know he had taken a detour. Nobody would suspect he lingered because he ached to see Tony look at him again with eyes bright with friendship. If he couldn't help his Tony, he was making damn sure this Tony knew that Steve Rogers would always be there for him.

“You were thinking of something. I knew that look, what was—”
“You,” he answers without hesitation. “I was thinking of you. How good you look with those on, how—” He bites his own lip hard, angling his head away from Tony’s kiss in shame. “I— Tony, you’re tired, and we’re in the library—”
Wash That Man (right out of my hair) by @mizzy2k, 7k, comics - 616, sorta pwp?
Holy shit. Holy shit. He'd assumed when Tony said he had a brand new body that it was a metaphor, a dramatic exaggeration, not a completely new unrecognizable-as-Tony-Stark body.
“Hey, Cap!” Tony beams widely at him, his mustache twitching with the smile. “Fancy meeting you here!”
“Haha,” Steve says, “yeah.” Smooth. That’s Steve Rogers for you. Eloquent under pressure.
Nicotine Hit by @festiveferret, 7.5k, MCU, pwp
The idea of Steve smoking in secret wormed its way into Tony’s brain and wouldn’t let go. It was the worst kind of craving, vague and misdirected, because it came in the shape of Steve instead of the nicotine hit he knew he really wanted. He associated Steve with the ritual of smoking and it got so bad he couldn’t look at the man without starting to feel antsy and wound up.
voglio sentirti by lackluster_lexicon @usenecessaryforce , 4.2k, MCU, bdsm
Tony closed the distance between them, unwound his arms to grab hold of the front of Steve’s shirt. Steve hissed in surprise, wrapped his hands around Tony’s wrists, but when Tony put the full force of his body into pulling Steve forward, Steve willingly dropped to his knees. Tony released Steve’s shirt, moved one hand to Steve’s shoulder and grasped Steve’s hair with the other, pulled Steve’s head back and forced him to look up at Tony.
“You’re going to beg,” Tony growled.
Side Effects by @elimymoons , 29.2k, comics - ultimates, bdsm
"You… what?" Steve's breath caught. He felt off-kilter, out of time, like he'd just woken up again and found everything flipped on its axis, but this time it felt good and right, and he just wanted to take Tony in his arms and never let go. "You love me?" he asked, soft, reverent almost. Tony Stark loved him, Steve Rogers, who— who swore too much, whose best friend wore dentures because his teeth all fell out, who talked better with his fists than his words most days. Steve Rogers, a ham-handed, bumbling oaf a man, and sweet, suave, wonderful Tony Stark loved him. "You love me?" he asked again, and Steve could feel his lips pulling back into a wide, beaming grin.

dont get me started on stevetony
ajksakjhajd anon I could talk for HOURS about stevetony. My otp. My favourite dynamic. The Tony ship I enjoy the most, read the most about, and create for the most.
What is absolutely amazing about this ship is that there is something for everyone. The sheer amount of fanart, fanfictions, and other content that has been created by fandom is staggering. And also perfect because I will always find something that fits my needs.
Also, the fact that there are stevetony moments in a LOT of Marvel universes. EMH, AA, 616, MCU, Ults, 1872, AvAc, etc all have at least one iconic stony moment, and I love it.
My favourite stony is, without doubt, 616 stony, because I am a sucker for angst. Give me all the canon fix-its and angst with a happy ending, I will literally inhale those fics. There are some amazing authors out there that have played a great role in making me love stony, so kudos to them. Also, 616 stony has some of the most moving speeches, imo.
It wasn’t worth it and he loved you even when you fought will always have a special place in my heart. You gave me a home is also a very good sentence. I’m sorry, but no other universe has quotes as raw as 616.
If we’re talking about things that annoy me about stony is that fandom has latched onto certain tropes and characterisations and somehow decided that it’s canon? I see that mostly with MCU fics, where for example Steve’s personality changes from fic to fic bc canon Steve is so vague, or where Tony is written very ooc to make him cuter or adorable.
I have big issues with how their dynamic is written in some fics. I abhor the thing fandom tends to do when they recreate sexist roles in a relationship and someone becomes “the woman” in the relationship. I’ve ranted about this a lot of times already, but I hate that Tony is very often written as the “woman” in his relationships, and that’s also true with stevetony.
If you’re thinking: “What in the world is oluka talking about?”, let me give you a few examples. Notice how Tony is very often described as small, weaker, how people focus on his big eyes and his butt? How he needs someone to take care of him? How he’s needy and clingy?
In contrast, Steve is always big and strong and masculine. He takes care of Tony, doesn’t mind his clinginess, is protective. He’s the prince charming to Tony’s damsel in distress, if you will.
You can’t tell me you haven’t read a fic where Tony is not taking care of himself/neglecting basic hygiene/is having a panic attack and then Steve comes and takes care of poor baby Tony and everything is good again. I hate that Tony becomes a child, that Steve becomes nothing more than a nanny, and that this is something that is very recurring in fic. Not to say that I don’t like hurt/comfort fics, but the way that it’s often written.... Not for me.
Don’t get me started on smut, because things are even worse there. Ask yourself: why is there an overwhelming majority of bottom Tony fics?
stony as a ship is amazing and is practically canon (is canon in Earth 3490), and some of the absolute best fanfics I’ve read are stevetony fics, but there are trends in stony fandom that annoy me sooo much. Luckily, tag filtering is a thing that exists, and now that I know what I enjoy and what I don’t enjoy, I almost only read fics that I end up loving.
I don’t know where I wanted to go with this, but I really love stony. Thanks for bringing them up!

endgame time
okay i figure i might as well post all my thoughts on the movie and get all of it out at once
the good shit (oh yes i loved iron man 5)
the tony and nebula interactions were so good. so soft. love that sweet validation of them being stuck for 3 weeks and getting along. TONY OFFERING HER THE BLUEBERRIES on their last day of oxygen and her pushing his hand away and tony immediately scarfing them all. tony thinking of a complete stranger’s needs before himself even as he’s dying. fucking good shit a+
when he stepped off the jet and it was STEVE who rushed immediately to catch him lmao my heart nearly leapt out of my chest. a beautiful cinematic stevetony moment.
“i lost the kid, i lost the kid” holy shit superfam........ SUPERFAM. how he looked so distraught and heartbroken like he knows he took a teenager up to space with him to fight the greatest villain the world has ever faced and he LOST him and the way it broke him saying it out loud as steve was holding onto him
the catharsis of tony having his big “I WAS RIGHT FUCK YOU” speech and then collapsing afterwards. SHIVERS. and it was fantastic seeing rdj physically weakened and looking like crap surviving for 3 weeks on the ship with zero supplies. WHEN HE TORE THE REACTOR OFF HIS CHEST AND SHOVED IT INTO STEVE’S HAND. “where were you when i needed you” “we’ll lose together. you said we’d do that together too, LIAR” (not a paraphrase) oh my gOD. fucking deserved. his righteousness, his betrayal, his hurt. so excellent. loved that for him. all the avengers watching him with mild concern but also resignation knowing he WAS right and they’d treated him like he was crazy two years ago for nearly losing his mind because he was so worried about the threat of impending invasion.
5 YEARS LATER. steve holding support group was such a great moment of continuity from him watching sam holding the veterans group (a first win for samsteve in the movie), i loved him still wanting to create a space for others to share their trauma and to talk. the painful irony of having a whole cap trilogy and 4 avengers movies and having so few scenes of steve actually talking about his trauma and instead having his experiences filtered through other people’s dialogue has been so fucking painful and endgame continued to screw him over (see below lmao) with this one but i thought this scene was still a nice touch.
really enjoyed natasha saying she’d found a family and a purpose in THEORY but it wasn’t backed up enough by the context. she was running point on what was left of the avengers essentially but it felt more work related than “oh we’re a FAMILY” which the avengers has never been as much as they might try to act like it for one line of dialogue that’s meant to be so meaningful
AVENGERS ENDGAME AS A TIME TRAVEL CAPER. holy fuck a literal au come to life. loved it. we got a whole stevetony going undercover in the 70s on a mission which was awesome. spy!steve and spy!tony shenanigans. the throwbacks to 2012 avengers and continuations of the scenes we saw in the movie were so so much fun.
america’s ass. god bless. tony thirsting after steve in every world in every universe in the multiverse.
“i missed that giddy optimism” he also missed that ass, apparently
they really fucking WENT there with the hail hydra but i thought it was a smart (if smug) wink to the audience of steve one upping the hydra guys and taking the scepter from them.
STEVE LIFTING MJOLNIR!!!! steve WIELDING mjolnir and doing the lightning thing. THAT’S MY BOY!!!!!!!!
being 90% sure that tony was going to die going into this movie i knew it was nails in the coffin the MOMENT we saw the 5 years later flashback and we were at this beautiful house and tony was married and playing with his kid. it seemed gratuitous, it seemed too good to be true. and it’s everything tony deserved and more. the domesticity, the beautiful simplicity and quietness of having a wife and a kid and being surrounded by so much love. I LOVE YOU 3000. i love you 3000. holy shit. you cannot tell me or anyone that tony isn’t the best dad in the whole damn universe. that kid was so loved, so adored. all along, all tony has wanted is a family. he just wants people to love him and people that he can love that will stay. and he got exactly that. he got five years of that and maybe it’s not enough but being a superhero it never is. i’m glad he got that 5 years.
RESCUE PEPPER was incredible. gwyneth got more screentime than i thought she would. seeing pepperony flying their suits in the sky was SUCH a trip ironfam really won this whole event.
tony being bitter and putting up a front when natasha, steve and scott came to visit him. it was so jarring watching steve seeing tony with the happy family and life he’d never been able to have, always an impossibility to him. steve jumping the gun with “is pepper pregnant” in cw. such a bittersweet moment. it’s one of those very classic comic moments in the multiverse where they have a wild au concept and they lull you into a false sense of security that everything is beautiful and perfect and happy until they have to ruin it all again and go be heroes. it was very that. except the happiness and love was all REAL and tony got to have it.
their conversation about how everything had worked out for him and how he had a family he couldn’t leave behind..... bro he really got me (and the avengers) there. do you really think THE tony stark could ever live happily ever after knowing half the world was dead? either he’s going to die trying to bring them back or he won’t be able to live with himself at all. the simulations were such a satisfying move. his conversation with pepper. her telling him he wouldn’t be able to rest. it was tony asking permission but also telling her that he was going to go and leave behind their life to do what he had to do. the subtext of that whole scene was really fantastically done.
PETER AND TONY. THE PHOTOGRAPH. HIM LINGERING ON THE PICTURE OF PETER LIKE OF FUCKING COURSE HE HASN’T HAD A MOMENTS REST NOT THINKING ABOUT HIM.
so anyway. tony invents time travel. we love a genius. he also invents an infinity gauntlet. incredible.
i was holding my breath the entire scene of tag when they were tossing the gauntlet back and forth mf wAITING for it to land near enough to tony. i knew it was coming but like,,, jesus christ part of me wasn’t sure when they had bruce do the snap. they skipped a lot of the technicalities of wielding the actual gauntlet (like not going mad from power and having the whole weight of the universe inside your head at your fingertips) probably to keep from weighing the story down but THAT would have been a brilliant touch to seeing tony finally getting the stones. and having them slot into place on his OWN GODDAMN ARMOUR. TONY STARK FUCKING DID THAT.
“i am inevitable.” “I AM IRON MAN”. literally the most iconic line of the entire marvel cinematic universe and tony gets to say it as the biggest fuck you the biggest villain they’ve ever faced. loved it.
so yeah the gamma rays taking tony, baseline human out, vs. bruce was a much less satisfying end than having it be the weight of the whole universe and the promise of madness and infinite power. but this is the ending tony deserved. we always knew that one or more of the OGs would die and it was tony and this is exactly the way this should have gone.
tony died saving the entire universe. he died sacrificing himself and HIS future with his family for the avengers and for the universe. the story of the mcu begins and ends with his sacrifice. he wouldn’t have had it any other way. to know that what he did, what he’ll be remembered for, is saving the universe. it validates all the selflessness and heroism and grace we’ve always known he has when it comes to being a hero. tony isn’t the hero that gives speeches and moves peple to action, he’s the hero that just DOES the thing that needs to be done. the one that will lay his life down on the line to let everyone else crawl over him because he wouldn’t be able to live knowing he hadn’t done more. him dying meant that he’d finally done enough. he finally gets to rest. and getting to die surrounded by the ironfam was such a beautiful touch. tony stark is unquestionably a hero. his legacy will always be one of sacrifice and heroism and creating the possibility of a better future. he has always, constantly, relentlessly been working to build a future he will never see that is better and stronger and more resilient than the present; it’s inherently a part of being a futurist that he will never get to see this world that he’s willingly given up everything for. and in the climax of the final battle, he gave up HIS future so that the rest of the universe could have one, and if that isnt the most tony stark thing i’ve ever heard idk what is.
the unsolvable problem of the avengers
how do you write the culmination to a grand universe of 22 movies with the avengers being the cornerstone of that massive cinematic vision when your avengers aren’t even really a team? what are we supposed to root for when none of them seem to visibly friends or even like each other except when they’re in pairs? what “TEAM” are they referring to?
the avengers from day 1 aren’t a team. they aren’t a family. there’s no sense of camraderie in any of the movies between them all as a unit.
we had ONE scene of teamwork in the movie where they were locating the stones and planning what to do with them. the shot of nat bruce and tony lying on the conference table was great, but unearned. why should we care when they haven’t shown us how these people care about each other outside of saving the world once every few years? we don’t watch superhero team-ups for the cool fight scenes we watch them because we want to see these heroes actually care about each other and the BOND between them that makes them a worthwhile team on AND off the battlefield.
there’s no sense that even strategically, they work well as a team. steve is the leader sure and tony provides the tech but apart from that? there’s no spark. there’s no connection between them that makes us thing oh shit, this could really work. they’re on the same wavelength. they’re going to try and do the impossible and it shouldn’t work but it just might because it’s them.
cannot emphasise this enough: not enough carol danvers. she was yeeted out of the movie after her intro and then came back for the final battle and that was it. she should’ve been THERE in the war room coming up with plans and going to the space destinations with the teams. it was ridiculous to have the future leader of the avengers and the legacy of the mcu not be front and center with the (non-existent) team dynamic. it fucking bewilders me that CM could write and develop a fury + carol friendship better than her dynamic with ANY of the avengers, her future friends and teammates.
so, the avengers aren’t really friends. they’re coworkers who occasionally put up with each other to save the world and that’s fucking depressing and arguably why all the avengers but tony were so badly fucked over in the character development and ending of endgame.
the bad shit (full circle rip)
thor and bruce were treated like comedic relief for too much of the movie. i wasn’t expecting bruce to have much of a storyline because he never does but his conflict was solved with a handwave explanation in the beginning “oh i have the best of both worlds now, i’m both banner AND hulk the brain and the brawns”. was such a bizarre fucking feeling. and the insinuation that he’d just been chilling in the 5 years post snap with his new updated hipster wardrobe taking pictures with fans??? what the fuck? what kind of storyline is THAT? he should’ve been WITH natasha helping her deal with the fallout of the snap and working with the remainders of the team. what the fuck.
thor was done EVEN dirtier in this respect. it’s as if all the ugly stans that hated and mocked tony’s im3 ptsd storyline decided to put their messy caricature of him into a character arc. hemsworth pulled it off, to his credit and comedic delivery, but it wasn’t a story fitting of the mighty thor. there IS a way of writing thor going through trauma, trying to process the loss of his entire world and family and people, without reducing him to an absolute farce. imagine a thor, treated with gravitas and respect, lost and kingdomless and peopleless wandering the world, a recluse and a hermit, like the better side of the coin to hawkeye, but being called back to heroism because he couldn’t stand by and do nothing. idk if its the taika effect or just the massive turn that the thor trilogy took but i think the overt humour was the wrong way to go with thor and it made his entire storyline seem regressive and like they were laughing at him more than they were laughing with him. i would’ve accepted taking a leaf out of dc’s book (i.e. diana and arthur in JL) if they had to go down this path with thor’s story, of having him retreat from the trauma and grief of what he’d lost. because his pain was understandable, you could very clearly sympathise with what he’d been through but they turned his pathos into bathos and let his storyline play out in jokes instead of being the noble warrior and hero finding the strength to believe in people and have hope and fight for the world again. endgame really made a mockery out of thor’s legacy and not knowing if there’ll be another thor movie............... god he deserved better.
clint?? we don’t speak of mcu clint but idk. i gUeSs the russos achieved what they thought they wanted to achieve with ultimates clint going full rogue and becoming a lawless deadpool but without the jokes. (ugh 616 clint... you will always be the only clint ever.) of all the characters that SHOULD have a lighthearted ironic storyline, it’s CLINT BARTON. he semi redeemed himself by wanting to die instead of natasha??? thereby absolving him? idk whatever lets not think too hard about mcu clint.
i think most of fandom has long given up on mcu natasha so it’s less an issue of “this isn’t the natasha we deserve” and “well how badly can they fuck this up”. i think natasha’s development was well-handled and it was a Relief to have her final moment be between her and clint, purely driven by platonic love and all the shit they’ve stood by each other through. i don’t know that she needed to die, clint easily could’ve fallen instead of her lmao. but her being prepared to die for the fate of the world has been a theme since aou and i was glad it played out her seeing the necessity and pragmatism of sacrifice. i liked how she said “you think i want to do this?” because of course she doesn’t, ofc natasha romanova who’s lived through the rise and fall of empires and died so many deaths, wants to live. but she’s also a hero, and she’s spent so many years working to be a better person (when she said the avengers made her better g o d loved that line) and she knew what she had to do. idk that this was a fitting end for her but i thought her character development was well done (even if the team itself is a shallow non-existent “family”) and her sacrifice, alongside tony’s saved the universe.
ok don’t let the shortness of these points belie how much they annoyed me but CAROL deserved more screentime RHODEY deserved more screentime. SAM AND BUCKY deserved more. for characters that are so charismatic and bring so much life and dynamism to the avengers it was a fucking shame that they didn’t make the most of them. carol and rhodey especially. the lack of carolrhodey air force interactions and tonyrhodey was offensive.
sam getting the shield and the little moment of passing the shield was amazing but At What Cost
so..................... steve. oh boy. oh fuck here we go. the mcu has never known what the fuck to do with steve and i have written countless answers and thinkpieces and meta posts about it. the most heartbreaking part of steve’s story is that the avengers is literally his life. it’s tony’s life. and it is to many other avengers but all of them have always had something else to fall back on. steve has always only had the avengers, or the army or SHIELD or whatever affiliation he’s currently part of. his purpose and his drive is part of the team and whatever Thing he’s part of that he can throw himself into and embody. not having the avengers be a fully functioning team and misfit found family really handicapped his entire storyline and possible development. you could argue that steve found a family with the capfam but it’s really having a Team of people to lead and befriend and become family with that’s integral to steve’s character. his story as steve rogers, not captain america, is about finding a home and a family in the 21st century. making peace with what he’s lost in the past so he can live in the present and fight for the people of the present and future.
it’s ironic and tragic and an absolute abomination for steve’s plot to literally be about regression. as if nothing has changed. he hasn’t learned anything from tws he hasn’t moved on, he hasn’t been able to let go “but not us” (AND WHY THE FUCK NOT RUSSOS?) he hasn’t been able to grow or make peace or find catharsis. he was SUPPOSED to, burying peggy, letting go of her. getting bucky back. but the setup of the mcu and the failure of the avengers as a team and family has actively kept steve from being able to ground himself in the present. the mcu ripped sharon carter right out of their universe so she never stood a chance. bucky had to go back under ice. natasha was running point with the 5 years later vengers. so in the end capfam is just???? sam and steve? his only support system is two and a half people?? it fucking breaks my heart. steve DESERVED a family. steve DESERVED a home. and even if mcu wasn’t going to let that be all tony stark-related there should’ve been SOMETHING.
of all the endings they could’ve pulled out of their asses
of all the fucking endings
this shit was straight out of the comics
straight out of the bad place darkest timeline scenarios
the ramifications of it all. hydra? bucky? sharon? homewrecking peggy’s own family and happily lived life just to get them back together? steve willing to risk it all for a dance and a woman he knew for a few months over the friends he’d spent nearly a decade with? we’re supposed to believe THAT’S steve rogers???????????
a literal fucking mess.
captain america as we know him in mcu ends with tws thats it
also, my expectations for stevetony was 0 but we got more than i thought we would. there was no development in terms of their actual relationship but as the filthy stevetony shipper i am happy with the cheap meal we got. there should’ve been a conversation between them about what happened, about what went down, something to tie together the avengers and the “trust” they wanted to establish between them. something like tony keeping the phone with him all this time. a little comic parallel “we still friends?” “never stopped”. just. Something. we needed more than “you trust me” “i do” in the time crunch of a mission. it was unearned. idk how this conversation would go, literally there are a hundred choices that i’m sure we’ll see play out in fic but one final big conversation between the two cornerstones of the mcu involving heroism, sacrifice, where they stand as heroes, how they see each other, who they are to each other. something like tony and steve always, at the end of everything, at the heart of who they are, seeing through each other’s masks and facades and personas and SEEING who the other person is. a tiny mcu nod to “you gave me a home” that ties the past and present and future together. tony believing in steve. steve believing in tony. i could’ve forgiven mcu all it’s other stevetony sins if we just had that.
just spitballing but – tony: you know, i never wanted to be a part of this thing. the super secret boyband. it was never supposed to be me. steve: we made it work though. for the most part. until we didn’t. tony: even when it looked like there was no way of ever getting the band back together a part of me still believed you. gullible of me, i know. but i wanted to think that if there ever came a time when we had to make one last stand, as avengers, we’d do it together. like it was always meant to be. steve: i know. tony, i – tony: i should’ve called. steve: it’s a two-way line. i could’ve, too. tony: that’s how it always seems to be with us, huh? shoulda woulda coulda. always just missing the mark. always just out of reach. steve: i’ve thought about it a lot. about what i would’ve done differently. what i would’ve said. tony: that’s why you need me, cap. i mean, hell, it doesn’t have to be me but we all need someone to tell us to get over ourselves sometimes. to stop beating yourself over the head with your own mistakes. steve: [laughs] that’s rich, coming from you. tony: maybe. but i’m a firm believer in second chances. steve: you think that’s what this could be? a second chance? tony: i know it. futurist, remember? i’ve seen it all happen. steve: oh, good. we could use one of those. maybe you could tell us if we survive tomorrow and save everyone. tony: we will. because things are different this time.  steve: this time? tony: the way it should’ve been. you and me and everyone else. together. we can win. steve: now who’s the one with the giddy optimism? tony: i prefer to call it hopeful pragmatism. after all, i’ve run enough simulations. steve: i do, tony. i trust you. tony: well, we’re betting the future of 5 billion lives on this. steve: i know. and there’s no one i’d trust more to do it.

Hi! I saw on one of your posts you said that you used to be a stucky shipper. I actually started off as a stony shipper but then absolutely fell in love with stucky but I like both . I was just wondering what made you "jump ship" on stucky lol. Sorry if this comes across as annoying or anything im just curious!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey! As you can see a couple of people have asked me this over the last couple of weeks and I’m really lazy and haven’t got around to responding yet, but the people deserve an answer so here we go. Before we start a quick disclaimer: I’ll only be talking about the ships themselves, not the communities or any of the discourse surrounding them. This is not a ship-bashing of any kind and please do not take it as such, it’s just my own personal experience surrounding these characters and these relationships.
Buckle your seatbelts kids, this is a long one.
I first got into Marvel c. 2015. I’m European so I’d never really watched any marvel movies before that, I watched Age of Ultron on a plane and remember being vaguely aware the Steve/Tony was a thing (what is pretty interesting is that to this day I have no clue where that knowledge came from) but was mostly just excited by the superhero stuff. I then got home and watched The Winter Soldier and fell in love. I love the Winter Soldier, it’s probably still one of my favourite marvel movies (it got kicked out of its top spot by Black Panther last year unfortunately) and to me no other marvel movie could hold a torch to it at the time. So I came onto tumblr, searched up The Winter Soldier and was just inundated with Stucky stuff, as expected. I rolled with it, got invested just from constant exposure (it was also around the height of the Stucky ship) and as far as I was concerned, that was that. I was super into Stucky for almost six months and was pretty much your average shipper, I didn’t understand stevetony, loved Steve Rogers, was close to creating a Stucky sideblog wit some ridiculous pun as my username, I was gone over this ship.
Then one day, I sat down and read the man on the bridge by boopboop on ao3. You’ve almost definitely heard of it, but it was the most popular fic in the Steve/Bucky tag on ao3 at the time (for some reason I had just never got around to reading it until then, it was long and I didn’t have the stamina I have now). It was your pretty standard Stucky fic, Steve gets Bucky back, they have to deal with his trauma which results in Steve and Bucky declaring their long lost love for each other etc. etc. What was different about this fic, was that it was all told from Tony’s point of view, and since Steve and Tony were on the same team at that point, their dynamic was a huge part of the fic. And I found myself falling completely in love with Steve and Tony’s dynamic. I went back to the fic for this post (and god it is a good fic) and pulled up the first couple of chapters and instantly just found so many instances of that dynamic
Tumblr media
(grade A stevetony arguing over each other’s safety with a side of flirting from Tony)
Tumblr media
(Idk why but the image of Steve and Tony not going to sleep, but rather staying up and brewing coffee together was such a vivid one when I first read this fic, I still remember it to this day. )
Tumblr media
(Tony picking Steve flowers while trying to desperately play off that he didn’t aka. Tony caring while trying desperately not to care)
Tumblr media
(Everyone knowing that Steve would definitely come to Tony, apart from Tony himself.)
Now obviously, this is a stucky fic and I went into it knowing this, but I found when Steve and Bucky finally got together I felt honestly a bit bored, a bit cheated. I had no idea why at the time. I remember very clearly x-ing out of the fic at the end and feeling really uneasy, I came onto tumblr, went straight back into the Stucky tag and all was well.
When I next went back onto ao3, I started out with a couple of oneshots in the Stucky tag, but for some reason it wasn’t working for me anymore. I remember sitting there, a little bored, not at all invested in this relationship and just missing something. I figured I was probably missing Tony’s presence in the fic and so filtered in Tony Stark’s character tag. I read a few of those and all was well but I realised the same thing was happening as had happened in man on the bridge, the moment that Steve and Bucky got together, the fic lost something for me. Desperate at this point, and a little annoyed at myself I conducted an experiment and went into the Steve/Tony tag on Ao3 and as they say, the rest is history. If you go onto older posts on my main blog there’s a pretty drastic, almost overnight shift c. January 2016. I have to admit, I expected Civil War to be a conversion so I enjoyed stevetony without consequence for five months, while still labelling myself as a Stucky shipper because I expected to be pulled back to Stucky after civil war, the reality was that somehow I came out of civil war shipping stevetony harder than ever before. From there, I spent two years reading my way through the stevetony tag on ao3 and finally set up this blog in 2018, with a really obscure reference as my username and it’s been stevetony til I die ever since.
I just couldn’t read Stucky anymore. That’s what I mean when I say on this blog that stevetony has ruined me for every other ship, because it has. Steve and Tony’s firecracker dynamic pulled me away from what was fast on its way to becoming my favourite ship in 2015, all because they had a bit of banter on the side in a fic. It’s kind of depressing really, the sort of hold that Steve and Tony’s dynamic has over me,
It’s strange you say you fell in love with Stucky, I fell absolutely out of love with it. I have thought a lot about how I ended up falling into stevetony and why I was so drawn to them instead of Stucky in the first place and I think it all comes down the the story itself. To me, Steve and Bucky’s relationship carries much more weight as a friendship, I still have no doubt that Bucky is one of if not the most important person in Steve’s life, but having that be a lifelong friendship is way more powerful and impactful to me, (especially since what I know I misconstrued to be Steve’s obsession with Bucky is actually Steve’s obsession over the past. I’m not saying Bucky isn’t dear to Steve and he does want to obviously rescue him, but looking back on it there’s more to Steve’s obsession with Bucky than just love, it’s a fear of change and it’s him desperately trying to hold onto a past that’s gone.)
Conversely, I feel like adding a romantic element to Steve and Tony’s relationship enriches the story being told, if you look at something like civil war (either MCU or 616 tbh) in the context of Tony being desperately in love with Steve, it makes a lot more sense, especially with things like The Confession in 616 or the stuff brought up in that strange conversation in the conference room in the MCU. There’s lines from Steve like “I’m home/you gave me a home” or even straight up “he loved you” and his tormented behaviour throughout infinity war and endgame that just really makes you wonder, not to mention lines from others like “you two still gazing into each other’s eyes/sounds like both of you got into bed with the wrong people” and they did have to share a bed at Clint’s farm after all lol. The tragedy of their story is heightened if you look at it through the context of them being absolutely in love with each other, just never having actually got around to telling it to each other’s faces. This tragedy is heavily implied in The Oath/The Confession in 616 when they confess their deepest darkest secrets to the other’s comatose/dead bodies, and apparently it’s always been that they love the other person. Actually you could easily introduce a romantic element by making relatively few changes to the MCU, but that’s a post for another time (I have a long and comprehensive list in my notes app on how little you actually need to change to make that happen, it’s literally the matter of a few lines of dialogue and one major story change at the end of IM3, an interesting thought exercise to say the least).
Finally, there’s a quote that came up on my dash the day I made that fateful venture into the ao3 stevetony tag, “your soulmate isn’t someone who comes peacefully into your life. It is someone who makes you question things, changed your reality, somebody that marks a before and after in your life. It is not the human being everyone idealized, but an ordinary person, who managed to revolutionize your world in a second” to this day, it resonates so strongly with me about stevetony. It’s everything I love about this ship just compressed into a quote.
So yeah it was basically a bunch of happy coincidences, but thank god it happened. As a writer, stevetony has taught me so much about character and dynamic, stuff that is honestly invaluable. When you have long fics that basically detail the day by day life of Steve and Tony post-civil war in rural Italy and consists of them sleeping, crying and working through their repressed feelings (looking at you @silkspectred ), it is the characters and their unique dynamic that drive the entirety of the story. Steve and Tony, in the hands of a compelling writer, can keep me hooked over a frankly embarrassing number of words. I still have a bit of a special place for Stucky in my heart really, it did start me out in marvel after all and it was one of my first ever ships, but your first love is only so good until you meet your true love, not to get all sappy but stevetony has completely destroyed my ability to ship anything else. I might get a bit flirtatious with some other ships, like sambucky (I still love Bucky, and I love Sam!), or the riverdale ships (beronica and jarchie or bust), or even the game of thrones crack ships (daensa til the day we die), but I’ll always come back to stevetony.
So yeah this escalated into a far longer post than I intended to make but I’ve never really spelled out on this blog how or why I ended up jumping Stucky to Stony when I know it’s usually the other way around. I guess it just comes down to stevetony catching me out when I least expected it, and never having let go of me since.

top 5 f i c s
all my top 5 fics r for inception but like um in terms of marvel (i havent read marvel fic in a while ok this is hazy)
also i kind of hate you for this ask because i just re read literally every single fic i recced and now im fucking sobbing like a maniac
most of these r gonna be stevetony just an fyi and they are not in order bc honestly every fic is different and has it's own qualities and joys so they are not comparable or ranked i love them all. i would also like to mention that i am the type of person who has loved writing since i was maybe 4, and has been a writer since i was maybe 5, so like. when i recc these, i mean that these fics made me a different person. they made me a better writer. they made me a better human being. because every time you relate to a character over something you have 0 experience with, you are a different person. you have a new perspective. so i am reccing these from the perspective of both a writer and a human being and a person who loves words.
1. maya's (@quidhitch ) entire christmas AU makes me cry and laugh and cry and cry and smile and cry so much i love it (all her other fics are also life changing)
“I love this song,” Steve sighs.
Tony snorts. “Everyone in the world loves this song.”
“Doesn’t make it any less worth loving.”
2. hold your fire by jenthesweetie. this fic. god. this fic. raw. so fucking raw. i am a big big fan of the whole ravaged world idea, and this fic does it justice so beautifully. i even wrote my own fic sorta entirely based on this one. it's. so fucking good. plus im a really really big fan of...not ambiguous endings, but endings that aren't concrete. it's a fucked up world, and sometimes things dont have to be definitively good. it's a beautiful, beautiful fic.
"Yeah," Steve says, and then Tony's quiet for a long time, and absolutely nothing is ever right anymore but given the circumstances it's not exactly wrong, either.
3. okay. so this one is very difficult and honestly I'm gonna cheat and not even do it properly. there are a few select fics that @elcorhamletlive (nanasekei on Ao3) has written that literally maybe have changed my being. probably. quite possibly. almost undoubtedly.
the first is responsibility. this fic haunts me. genuinely. i fall asleep thinking about it, sometimes. it fucking hurts, but like in the way that makes you want it to hurt. (although this is the only fic i will ever recc with a sad ending. the only one. it is the only one i have ever found worth the pain.)
You think of Vormir, of how he kissed you too many times to say goodbye and not enough times to distract you from his shaking hands. He said I wish and you know now what he was thinking of.
the second is Hating Steve Rogers. no joke, for a period of like 5 months, i re read this fic at least ocne a week. i won't say more. the fic speaks for itself.
The thing about loving people is that no one’s exactly good at it. And Tony loves too much and too loudly, and Steve loves too much and too quietly, and they learn to find each other in the middle, to create their own frequency. It’s like palladium and shrapnel, and ice, and Steve’s touch in Tony’s hair in the morning, Steve’s voice at his ear at night, Steve’s hand carefully and slowly reaching for his during a team dinner.
Tony thinks: I’d start a war to get you to look at me like this.
(Maybe, Tony thinks, you just can’t be that stubborn and kind and brave and exist in the world without also being sad. Maybe being sad is just the price Steve pays for being real.)
Tony counts the endless shades of blue in his eyes, thinks of his hand still so close, wonders how it’s possible to feel drunker on someone’s presence than after five shots of whiskey.
the third is Five Seconds. it's a massive fuck you to the mcu and i love it immensly.
There are the moments where Steve thinks love, in itself, is not a good word to express what they have. Steve thinks love is too small a word – too simple, too easy –, and what he feels for Tony is something humanity hasn’t yet named. He wonders if in some reality someone has found the word, a word for the way he watches Tony yawn and stretch his arms above his head in the morning, a word for the feeling of dying and being born exactly at the same time.
the fourth. if I time it right, the thunder breaks (when I open my mouth). this fic is gorgeous. intricate. delicate. beautiful. just beautiful. it's sort of an ode to love and wanting someone, in its own beautiful way.
(If he’s going to be honest – and he’s always honest –, the minute the words actually leave his lips, he doesn’t regret them in the slightest, just like he didn’t before, in the hospital room and watching Tony sleep. At the end of the day, Steve thinks, you can’t regret the truth. It is just what it is.)
all the rest of her fics are beautiful and lovely and funny and so good, but these ones i would gladly get tattooed across my body, if i had to choose.
4. When Our Day Comes by thepartyresponsible
this is a funny but slightly serious fic about steve dealing with everything, cuz like. that's kind of a lot, and it's fun and it wormed a way into my heart. i adore it.
“Ugh, what the fuck,” Tony says, running a hand down his face. “JARVIS,” he says, as he falls back onto his bed, “I despoiled America’s sweetheart. Call Rhodey. Call a tattoo artist. Call a priest.”
5. Put My Guns in the Ground (I Can't Shoot Them Anymore) by jukeboxhound
one of the most important things in a fic for me is characterization. i don't really give a shit about grammar or format or even plot, i just want true to form characterization. tony stark is by far the hardest character I've ever written in terms of fanfic. his syntax and phrases and word choice are insanely unique. so, by large, i do not believe most authors tend to capure that perfectly. however, every fic on this list definitely does. but one of the defining characteristics i remember of this series is that i was pretty impressed with this take on ptsd and depression and mental health in relation to both steve and tony in general.
i have reread a few paragraphs in this fic daily for a few months because it's a piece of writing that sees me, that grips my fucking heart and hurts, says in no uncertain terms, "I hear you. I see you."
So yeah, Steve is their captain and their icon and this means he has to make the decisions that other people can't, or won't, or pretend don't exist in this modern civilized world. Tony puts his gauntlets on Steve's hips as though it'll anchor him in the correct era, in the here and now with Tony himself and the consumer capitalist soulless nation that America's becoming, where the American Dream has become the Wall Street Dream. Tony holds himself solid in the face of Steve's hard, bruising kisses, imagines himself taking in what Steve needs to give him and tucking it close inside the harsh light of the arc reactor because he's too cynical to let Captain America bear the weight of all their sins himself.
I'm aware that's technically both 5 and technically not 5, and i want to reiterate, this is not my top 5. this is not ranked. these are the fics i remember right now, and yes, they're beautiful, but there are dozens of other fics i love. there are fics so gorgeous i wish i could make every person on earth read. nasafic's fics got me into stevetony in the first place. i love romcommed by fate, i love first impressions, i love so so so so many more fics than this. but here we are.
i'm gonna go cry some more now and maybe go take another 4 hour nap.

hey!!! so i have a few questions: what is your favorite fic that you've ever read?? top 5 favorite tv shows?? top 5 favorite movies??
Fic:
omg only one favorite fic??? Can I do three? I’m doing three.
1. West of the Moon by distractedKat - it’s a Spirk fic which isn’t a pairing I talk a lot about but holy fuck this fic. I could (and have) go on for hours about how much I love it: the character development, the plot development, the relationship development. I’ve read it so many times I can practically quote it and YET I still want to read it again.
2. where thou art, thou is home by ShanaStoryteller - okay so this is Sterek fic series with some of my favorite tropes. Again the development is so good but also there’s a ton of Magic and BAMF Stiles which is *chef’s kiss*. I love how it’s an AU but still the pack manages to find each other in a really beautiful way.
3. TOASTERVERSE (aka In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned by Nick Fury)) by scifigrl47 - I read this all in one day years and years ago and you know what, no regrets. This is peak 2012 Avengers found family magic and if you love Tony Stark and/or SteveTony THIS IS THE FIC SERIES FOR YOU. Four (or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark is so entrenched in my head that I actually thought one of the lines from it was MCU canon until I remembered it was from this fic.
Honestly, for every OTP I read fic for, there’s always one specific fic that I love and will reread over and over again. These are just three of them!
TV shows:
1. Leverage (FOUND FAMILY TROPE! HEISTING! CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! CLEVER PLOTS AND INTERESTING SIDE CHARACTERS!)
2. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (god I want to be Phryne so badly - she is the glamorous badass we all want to be)
3. 911 (I’m absolutely obsessed with Eddie Diaz and his overwhelming love for his son and his best friend….if you can’t tell from the last 3-4 months)
4. Hawaii Five-0 (it will always hold a place in my heart despite the fact that I haven’t watched it for a season and a half)
5. Killjoys (I am Dutch and my nonsexual life partner is Johnny and this show bound us together in unspeakable ways)
Movies:
ngl I had to text my bff and ask him what they were:
1. LotR: The Two Towers
2. John Wick
3. Iron Man
4. Now You See Me
5. Under the Red Hood
Honorary mentions:
- Jumanji
- Logan Lucky
- The Man from UNCLE
go anon and say whatever you’d like to me

*****
Being the futurist he is, Tony always knew his day would’ve come – the day when Steve would leave him for someone else.
It’s his destiny, his curse as a Stark. Or according to Howard, how Starks are meant to be.
Tony shouldn't be upset. It’s not like Steve and Tony are dating, let alone in love, in Steve’s case. Their relationship's built on casual sex and friendship. Nothing more. Tony's long accepted the fact he's meant to be a placeholder for the person who would heal Steve's lonely heart.
Tony just never dreamt he’d be the placeholder for Steve’s childhood friend who’s supposed to be dead.
He can’t seem to look away as Steve and Bucky embrace, can’t seem to spin on his heels and hightail out of the room. Maybe it’s the masochist in him cementing him in place to remind him why he could never, ever call Steve his. It’s already terrible enough that Tony offered to help Steve search for Barnes (he's weak for Steve's smile, sue him). But to be one of the people to help pick Barnes up? To help wipe away the triggers from Barnes’ mind? All because Steve flash those pretty blue eyes of his? All because Tony gave up his pathetic little heart to Steve?
Howard would've had his head if he isn't already six feet under.
“Tony.”
He startles, whirling around to meet Natasha’s careful gaze.
“You doing okay?”
“Yup. Just peachy.”
Natasha arches an eyebrow.
Tony rolls his eyes. “It’s nothing. Don’t be such a worrywart. Take it from me. Frowning will age you—”
“Tony.”
He scowls. He loves Natasha. He really does. But he hates how she could see right through him sometimes, hates how they're more alike than he’d like.
“Just tired. Today has been a long day, you know? Picking Barnes up, helping his ass and not to mention—”
“Get some rest.”
Tony grins. “Tell Cap congrats on getting his buddy back,” he says, clapping her on the shoulder. “Okay. Thanks. Bye!”
He could still feel her skeptic gaze on him as he dashes off. Good thing she doesn't try pressing him for details. The last thing he wants to talk about is that he just lost Steve to a fucking ghost, anyway.
A ghost who’s back to life and everything Steve loves and longs for.
It all makes sense now. Sure, Steve held a torch for Aunt Peggy then. But maybe Steve and Barnes had something brewing between them. Hell, Peggy and Bucky could've shared Steve.
Not that his aunt ever told him. But he wouldn't be surprised if it's true.
Tony tries to put the thought out of his head as he gets ready for bed. But even as he slips under the covers, his mind insists otherwise.
What would they be up to right now? Would they be discussing their feelings? Hug? Kiss? F—
He can't find it in himself to finish that thought without his stomach churning. Yet his traitorous brain won't stop imagining Steve kissing Barnes the way he kissed Tony, touching Barnes the way he touched Tony, telling Barnes—
Tony groans, burying his face in his pillow.
He shouldn't have kissed Steve while he was high on adrenaline and rage, shouldn’t have let Steve fuck him against the wall of his workshop, shouldn’t have offered Steve to do it again and again and again because Tony’s been in love with Steve since New York burned and he never could resist fire and pain.
How could’ve he been so stupid? How could he have fallen for Steve? For Captain America? It was supposed to be just no-strings-attached, sex. Feelings weren't supposed to be involved. Ever.
All his life he’s been told he could never be enough to be like Steve. What makes him think he could even compete to be enough for him? What makes him—
He feels the bed dip.
“Tony?”
Tony braces himself before flopping onto his other side to meet Steve’s concerned gaze in the dark.
“What're you doing here?”
Steve's brow furrows. “Nat said you were tired. Thought I’d check up on you.”
“I’m fine. Just tired,” Tony replies curtly. “Where’s Barnes?”
“Settling in in one of the guestrooms. Hope that’s okay with you.”
Nope. Definitely not okay. Very, very not okay.
Tony does his best to keep his grin from slipping off his face. “Of course it is? Mi casa es tu casa and all that jazz.”
Steve’s eyes narrow. “You know, I could put him up in my old apartment if you want—”
And to give Steve more initiative to spend time away from here? Absolutely not.
But then Tony remembers his place and makes a decision.

Another Endgame Review
Ok, so I finally saw Endgame and I am only beginning to untangle all my feelings about it. I had seen a big huge spoiler before I saw the movie (and then I promptly said “fuck it” and went on to find all the spoilers I could, but that’s just me). I am actually kind of glad I knew what to expect because when I did get to see it I was in a relatively stable place to get whacked over the head with the real thing when I finally did see it. So here are some of my thoughts.
(Spoilers below cut, stop reading now if you don’t want to!!!)
Things I liked:
RHODEY!!!! Rhodey the sass master, Rhodey the unapologetic movie nerd, Rhodey who is every Avenger’s best friend, without question, without resentment. Rhodey was one of the best parts of the whole movie.
Natasha the team mom: the pb&j moment was so great, I loved it. I was also actually kind of okay with her death scene? I mean I thought the whole Clint and Nat “who wants to die more” bit was a little overboard, and it was a bit too “female character dies for shock value” for my taste, BUT it was quiet and noble in the end and it made me cry all the tears.
Carol’s hair!!! Gives me life!!! As a disaster bi this movie Killed me.
Professor Hulk: Yes Yes Yes!!! Love!!! Bruce has been through so much, I was so glad that he has finally made peace with himself. The comic relief was cheesy but much needed.
Also can I say I really loved the little nod to ThorBruce they snuck in there? I loved how kind and understanding Bruce was to Thor, because as he said, he’s been there and knows exactly what Thor is feeling now. He was one of the few who took Thor seriously when most everyone else treated him like a joke. Anyway, I officially headcanon that after Endgame, Thor and Bruce continue on their Excellent Space Adventure together and live happily ever after.
Steeeeeeeeve!!! Steve looked so gooood in this movie? Like no wonder literally everyone in the world wants to stare at that ass. Also big mood: everyone in the theater LOVED when Steve got the hammer and started waling on Thanos, that’s my boy!!! Also, I liked that Steve did at least acknowledge that he is being a hypocrite, telling everyone to move on when he is definitely not. It showed that he does have some self-awareness and I respected that.
Tony: oh god, where do I begin, besides screaming into the void... RDJ CARRIED this movie. Besides Nat’s death, all the scenes I cried in were his scenes. In That One Scene, the whole theater was SILENT, tears were streaming down my face, it was just... So Much.
Tony and Nebula, Tony and Morgan... they gave me all the feels.
Tony and Nebula probably saw a lot of themselves in each other - both of them know what it’s like to have a father you could never be good enough for, to not have the chance to be a kid, to not have the love you so desperately wanted. Tony was trying to give Nebula some of that and I loved seeing her opening up to Tony and the team.
Tony and Morgan !!!! This was so good, especially now that all the Tony antis who said Tony wouldn’t be a good dad are eating their words. I am so glad Tony got a taste of the life he’d always wanted and it was cruelly ripped away but it was beautiful to see.
Tony and Peter!!! The hug was so satisfying, and the look on Tony’s face had me crying all over again.
SteveTony: So this whole movie was basically a SteveTony event, which was so unexpected and yet so goooood!!!
Steve running to Tony the second he’s off the ship!
Tony getting his (well deserved) “I told you so” moment. Steve not even trying to defend himself, just taking it because he knows he failed Tony.
Tony being dramatic af and putting his literal heart in Steve’s hands? Saying “I needed you” - not the Avengers, Steve specifically?
Steve finally listening to Tony and Respecting Tony’s Choices. FINALLY.
“Do you trust me?” “I do.” FINALLY. Also can we appreciate there was no wedding in endgame but who was it who got to say “I do”?
The time travel heist with SteveTony bantering (aka totally flirting) the entire time and Scott being a literal third wheel was sooooo good. Scott: what are you guys talking about I don’t get it. Stony: no one cares, let us flirt in peace kthanks!
Tony blatantly checking out Steve’s ass is the quality content we deserved all along!
Aahhhh there were so many good moments, the SteveTony content gave me LIFE even though there were parts I didn’t like too.
Things I didn’t like:
Gamora’s relationship with Thanos made me kind of uncomfortable through the whole movie? They made her seem way more complacent and buddy buddy with Thanos than she ever was before. And I get that she was acting, I just wish they hadn’t gone to that extreme.
How they treated Thor, with no one (except Bruce and Rocket) really treating his depression and PTSD seriously. After how well they treated Tony when he was going through the same thing, I was really disappointed. Mental health issues are not a joke.
Steve’s ending. I know people are very divided on this, and I totally agree that Steve should be happy. BUT I’m just not convinced that he would be happy in the past after everything he’s been through. He is not the same person he was when he went in the ice, no matter how much he misses the past. As for it being OOC... as much as I personally don’t like it, I can see that it would be in character for mcu Steve, since the writers never let him move on and find a new home in the present like he did in the comics. mcu Steve never got to move on, while comics Steve was given the chance to really build strong relationships and a home in the future so that when he was given the choice to go back to the past or stay in the future he chose to stay. I personally think that is a more powerful ending and it makes me sad that they never let him get there.
But hey, there’s always fic! And overall, I did think it was a good movie.

Favourite avengers movies scenes? Favourite iron man movies scenes? Favourite captain America movies scenes?
Omg, you have no idea how hyped I am because you're the first person who asked me so thank you for that. Anyways, you are in for a long ride because I won't be able to shut up about this.
1. Iron Man movies
Fave scene in IM1, I am Iron Man. That was the line that made MCU a different universe. I think they were gonna follow 616 (based on Tony's prepped statement courtesy of Phil) until RDJ disregarded the script and just opted to say that.
You see Nat going from playful to serious master assasin mode because her best friend is in danger. That scene basically shows that they will do everything for each other (FACT PROVEN IN ENDGAME). Basically, I loved all of Clint and Nat's scenes (kinda a low-key Clintasha shipper) in the first movie. I absolutely love their friendship and how it's portrayed in the MCU in its entirety. I mean I would've preferred that they be a couple but their platonic love for each other is what really got me to burst into tears in Endgame.
Whenever I watch that scene in IM1, I always find myself shaking my head and smiling because of how unbelievable Tony is. A part of me thinks he said that just so he could fuck with Christine Everhart and the other part of me thinks that he said it because he wants to tell people that you can be a superhero, no matter who you are and what your past is. It makes me think that way because before declaring that he's ironman he says that he's not a superhero because of his list of character defects.
In IM2, fave scene is Nick and Tony's talk in the latter's Malibu mansion. The whole conversation about Howard Stark. It highlights the fact that Tony never really got to know Howard. We all know he was a bad father to him but I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I mean, we see our parents as parents until we get to know who they are outside of being that. Personally, I'm just knowing who my mom is, now (I'm 20). Tony never really got that (part of the reason why that scene where Tony meets Howard in Endgame was important, for me).
And IM3, I don't have a specific favorite scene but I love its concept. I loved the fact that they showed Tony having anxiety attacks and PTSD and how he got through that. It's one of the things that made him human and so relatable.
I have to confess that I didn't see any CA movies until 2016. I only watched it because Tony was in CA:CW then I watched CA:TWS before watching CA:TFA. Basically, I watched it in reverse. 😂😂
I also loved the fact that the person who got him through it was Harley, a kid who became Tony's sidekick during that time. God, I don't really know how to explain how important it is to me, it's something that I can't put into words but I REALLY FELT THAT.
2. Captain America movies
CA:TFA, hands down to Steve and Peggy's last conversation. My god, that was heartbreaking. I've always been a sucker for what-could've-beens and almost love stories and they really reflect that. I sympathize with the both of them so much because they have to live with that heartbreak for the rest of their lives. It will always be the one bittersweet thing that they will carry. But the one my heart really aches for is Peggy.
I have a lot of favorite scenes from the avengers movies. I really loved the scene in A1 where Phil pulls Nat from a mission because Barton's been compromised.
I mean just. look. at. that! Holy shit, that grimace and half smile that she does. That's the face of a woman who can't get mad at the man she loves for leaving because the reason of said man for leaving her is the same reason that made her fall in love with him. It's kinda of like the look Pepper gives Tony in Endgame when the latter talks to the former about the time gps.
I'll put it on the list is easily my fave part in CA:TWS. It shows Steve doing everything he can in order to adjust to this world. It shows him moving forward.
And for CA:CW, it's Tony's presentation at MIT. Yep, loved that. It echoes with his character development.
Tumblr media
For A:AOU, I'd say Fury having dinner with the Avengers. I think that's when he says I have you, guys, I have nothing to worry about. We know that AOU takes place after the falling of SHIELD and Nick doesn't really have all the resources that he had before but he still believes. He knows that these are the people who will save the world because they see it as something that they have to do. These are the people he watched closely and saw grow. We all know how the Avengers Initiative came to be after Captain Marvel and saw how soft Fury is back in the 90s and during the dinner in AOU, I see it as a parallel. I've always loved Fury and have always wanted to see how he came to be and who he was before SHIELD fucked him up, you know? And that scene in AOU really gave me a glimpse. I see him as the tough loving dad of the avengers.
(I got the gif from google and it says it's from bitony's tumblr so credits!)
It shows how much he wanted to help people with mental health issues because he's been there and he knows how hard it is so he wants to do everything he can to make it easier. It's for the people who finds it hard to talk to a psychiatrist so in order to contribute, he created a noninvasive tech that helps deal with that (that's why I stan one man, why I can't understand people who calls him selfish).
(P.S. CA:CW could easily be IM4, let's be real)
3. Avengers movies
A:IW honestly fucked me up (they dusted some of our faves!!!). Buuuuuuuut, I'm gonna say the Okoye-Nat team up. THAT SCENE GOT ME LIKE:
Tumblr media
BC I LOVE OKOYE AND NAT SO MUCH!!! And to see them - these two powerful women of MCU who deserves more recognition - team up against the enemy, I swear, the BDE radiating from them.
(Additional stuff: what made me love Okoye way more is during that scene BP where W'Kabi was like would you kill me, my love? And my girl's like for Wakanda? Without question. I literally sobbed during that scene bc it hit me so much, I'm like I feel you, it just shows how much Okoye loves her country and that spoke to me)
SPOILERS AHEAD.
AS FOR ENDGAME, GOD DAMN, I LOVED EVERY MOMENT. It's easily my favorite Marvel movie. Stevetonies won in that movie, Clintasha shippers won, Thorbruce shippers won. It's basically a service to the people. I know some have been hating on it (especially on Steve's ending) but I think tied everything up.
Endgame's opening scene was Clint teaching his daughter archery. That was so soft for me. The last we saw him was CA:CW (and tbh, I didn't like him in that movie bc he's such an asshole to Tony, like the things he said cut deep) and then now we know he's on house arrest just like Scott and being happy with his family. I loved how normal it was bc that normalness made it so painful when they disappeared. Then we saw Clint become Ronin. It's a parallel, to me, because it shows that the good can be bad. It showed us flaws and that losing someone really brings out the worse in us. But he's storyline also showed how much a bad person can change with the help of other people.
Now, let's talk about Nat and Tony, let's be real, those two heroes started it. I mean, sure, Downey really started the MCU but Scarlett immediately followed him (IM2). To see their characters' journey end meaningfully by saving their families and creating a better future for the world, I gotta say, it may not be the ending we wanted (bc we want everyone to live) but they died doing what they love most, you know? They died knowing that they made a better future for everyone. And if they're gonna go, they have to go like the hero they truly are.
For Steve's arc, I'm not mad at it. I actually smiled when I saw how happy he was with Peggy. I would have wanted for him to stay in the present but I kinda get why he did it. I know it doesn't really reflect the comics (since Steve grew to love the 'future' in there) but MCU is a different universe. Steve's always been selfless, always puts the world's interest before his so to see him finally putting himself first by following Tony's advice (back in AOU) makes me understand. Like, okay, finally, this guy does something for himself.
I LOVED THOR. I know a friend of mine thought that Thor was a laughing stock during Endgame but I deemed him gaining weight as an important arc his character. Thor lost everything: Friga, Odin, Loki, Asgard, Heimdall, the people he's supposed to lead... Then he failed to stop Thanos because he didn't go for the head. He thinks he failed, he thought it was fault. He became an alcoholic, he was depressed but hides it behind jokes. I feel like somewhere in there he thought he wasn't worthy anymore. That's why he doesn't use stormbreaker, anymore. That's why for the last 5 years, he's 'not' the god of thunder. Also the reason during time heist, when he was able to call for mjolnir, it made me smile from ear to ear. Thor's endgame arc proved that no matter how depressed you are or how much of a failure you think you are, you're still worthy.

Bruce, Brucie-bear, Bruce... finally, he learned to accept Hulk. At first, I thought it was funny that he's Bruce and Hulk at the same time but the more I think about it, the more I saw how much Bruce grew. I mean, flashback in A1 when Tony told him to accept the guy and think of them as one instead of two different people, I remember how much he hated that idea because he sees himself as a monster and then in Endgame, we see him finally accepting his demons and actually became a better person because of it. Like, it really reflects how things would become better if we just embrace and love ourselves for who we are, you know?
THAT'S ABOUT EVERYTHING.
