saw a tiktok of a mother taking her very tiny daughter to an art museum and she’s just walking around going “whoooa” “woooaah” to everything but then they got to a marble statue of a nude woman lying on her back and the girl points and goes “mommy🫵” and i just immediately welled up with tears and all the comments are just laughing about it and of course it’s funny but how are you not insanely moved by the way art connects everyone on earth from a centuries-old sculptor to a toddler in 2023

in my review meeting yesterday he said that something feels very british about the pieces i submitted and he also said western but he focused on british and im happy with western bc i said many times the point of folklore and legend is that it gets built upon and regenerated over time and transnationality and especially since im only taking the form of a type of ghost but not the ghost herself (etc etc) HOWEVERRR my heart keeps sinking at the ‘british’ bc i NEVER used to write from a ‘british’ standpoint but now i do and i know it’s virtually a trauma response to the mistreatment and, tbh, repeated verbal abuse from our poetry professor during undergrad. even while i was writing the second piece i like.. englishified it when i was editing it out of pure fear when i NEVER would’ve done that 7 years ago and i can’t stop thinking about it right now i feel like i need an emergency meeting with my supervisor to unpack this immediately
