As a child...

there was one book and movie series that absolutely saved me. I became obsessed and also began to reread the books until even the hardcovers were wearing down. You know what that series was? Harry fucking Potter. It was so intense of a fixation that not only was I the go-to person for knowledge, but I managed to convince my neighbor that I was 1. a boy and 2. Harry Potter. Later on in my childhood I switched my focus to Hermione because I related to her the most. Fast forward to my adult years and having to come to terms with the fact that my special interest (I am convinced that is what it was due to how it made me feel and so on) was written by a horrible bigot. And then having to come to terms with the many problematic areas in the story itself. I used those books to learn so many things including how to socialize and a bit about social cues too. I learned so many words and I felt whole whenever I escaped to the Wizarding World. But then I was disillusioned. Since then, I have found a different book series with a way better author to fixate on. I wouldn’t say it has become a special interest but it has certainly helped me. I will probably never fully move on from Harry Potter, and especially not the wonderful actors and the good they do. I will probably always be a proud Ravenclaw, but I can’t seem to stomach the books anymore and I can’t seem to pick them up to revisit. A huge part of me was ripped away and the pedestal I had Rowling on as I aspired to be her (I am a writer) came crashing down. I had lost a real hero and a fictional hero and I hope one day I can fully heal and move on from it, but for now I will move onto anger. Denial and bargaining has long since passed, now I am just so pissed at her and so hurt. If you see me speak about Harry Potter or share something HP related it is because the ghost remains, but it has become this empty husk. Indeed, I feel it withering every day. Now I only refer to her as J.K. Trolling and I’m pretty proud of that wit.

"life doesnt get better, you just get stronger" does NOT include ages 11-17. life does in fact just get better from there. those years are dogshit. like, you do get stronger but its mostly just a factor of not being 11-17 anymore. positive thinking helps but it doesnt fix whatevers going on at 15, you have to brute force through that one raw
