Omg thank you for the ask, ill do my best nons. Some of these come easier than others, and im fully aware my takes might be weird/unpopular but as long as im having a blast i think its fine. And im just riffing btw, not following any specific format:
Volta
She celebrates not getting kicked or pushed by anyone... I feel like that's pretty telling of her being a very punished/tragic character. But she also disrespects Vulgora and fights them back, so she can’t be completely helpless. I personally adore the idea of Volta being like a mongoose - will destroy you given the chance (literally. Super potent digestive juices? corrosive saliva? Teeth that never seem to end when you look into her mouth? All checked in my book. I'm thinking Pennywise's mouth from “IT” remakes or a sea turtle's mouth)
And YEAH she could mess up Valdemar, controversial opinion ik. They just get sucked in like spaghetti and DIE knowing the “weakest” of the demons was a herald of their demise >:)
Vlastomil
Basically always snooty and prone to blaming others for everything wrong in his life. Even when he’s hyping about the study of invertebrates, he manages to shade you and be patronizing... At the same time though, he is very zesty. Fun conversation partner and the best associate if you manage to get in his good graces. I also hc him to have ambiguous genitalia, and YES if you cut him in half there will be two Vlastomils :) just like earthworms. Overall a lot of cool wormy features that people pick up on overtime. I feel like some will disagree but I always saw him as a “chaotic neutral” kind of char. Should be evil, yes. But he’s just too fun and lovable imo. Like a snarky professor you weirdly like and respect. He’s also a bottom on a mission. Get it peepaw.
Vulgora
DEVS. DID. VULGORA. DIRTY. And I, for one, love it. No matter how you look at their patron arcana - Vulgora is fucked. If it was always their patron, I don't blame them for making a pact with the devil. Trying to avoid great pain, upheaval and loss seems natural. They are the courtier I would want to get lore on THE MOST. I want to know how their life was before “the demoning” sooo bad. As for their disposition - fun. Frenemies with Lucio, threatens Valdemar, doesn't realize they’re always screaming... just a fun little dude (gnc). I mentioned before that I defo see them doing public beheadings, ancient rome style (they’re the leader of the guard, a high ranking noble... they probably are doing it and its legal). As I said. Fun.
Also they hold the highest score in the game of “push Volta off the stairs”. Valdemar comes in 2nd.
Valerius
I honestly don't feel like I can do Val justice. That's all on @c0nsul-valerius. I will try tho! He’s always been torn between actually wanting to do good and upholding his own reputation/pride no matter the cost. The moment his rep is on the line, everything gets sidelined; relationships, acquaintances, morals. It’s delicious how he’s fleshed out in Nadia's route, just that one encounter, seeing how warped and disgusting he became, how ashamed of it all he is - i really want to see that vulnerability again, get to “crack him open” in a way and see how he would be when there's no obligations, work, or masks being put on for the public.
Valdemar
I have... too many hc’s and theories. I would love to overshare in the future! For this post though I'll try to keep it brief. I think people give Valdemar TOO MUCH CREDIT. An amnesiac apprentice, fresh out of the nest manages to kick their pathetic concave ass time and again. And while the apprentice is made to be OP in game, one would think an ancient demon, capable of raising cities, fallen armies and planning to challenge the devil would easily handle an inexperienced magician (and a redhead armed with a chair) but instead they always abscond. Sure, it could be them just going “LOL” and running off to irk people, but Lucio and Julian routes show them to be rattled by getting SLIGHTLY CHAFED. WIMPDEMAR REAL, DESERVES TO BE JOSTLED. They are on the spectrum and mask it so-so, loves a good stimmy. ALSO - MASSIVE HYPOCHONDRIAC, even tho they cant really get sick anymore. Obsessed with disinfecting everything and everyone.

first impression: absolute confusion. i started playing the series w kh3 bc i thought it was the first game remastered and i wanted to know why she was in a forest with a concerningly tall man
impression now: OUGHSJFDSHF *sounds of screaming and crying as i rant endlessly* but i should say most of my loving rants are about manga kairi where most of my frustrated (at the writing) rantings are about game kairi so most of the stuff here will be manga kairi. i will say this is my longest lasting obsession with a kh character, even roxas didnt go as long or at least my feelings weren’t as strong as it went on
fav moment: “sora im still waiting for your reply. still waiting…”, “maybe waiting isn’t good enough”, when she drags sora to riku-that-looks-like-ansem, “no, not this time! i promise i wont get in the way! i’m through waiting!”, when kairi threw her key blade like a boomerang in the manga and she got really happy when it came back, when she defended axel and demyx to riku because he didnt think nobodies had feelings and she said that they were good to her, when she gets pissed that sora told her not to use the keyblade and tells him to “not let the organization abuse him and hes like O.O okay!!!, when she bites axel and scolds him for kidnapping people to ask for help, when she wiggles to convince the nobodies to let her out, when she decks demyx and he starts crying and begging her to let him kidnap her and she has literally the best facials omg it gets me every time, “im tired of waiting so don’t tell me to stay behind! wherever one of us goes the other follows got it?”, and various other moments where she has agency and it results in either a good laugh or me violently screaming and crying
a story: OH TO SEE HER TRAIN.. this was done really well in this comic but id like to see kairi train with aqua and see her break down out of frustration of being alone again/not having a choice in the situation/not feeling good enough or valued n then aqua comforting her and aqua remembering how lost and alone she felt in the realm of darkness and doing whatever she can to make sure kairi doesn’t ever feel the same
unpopular opinion: i dont think there's many popular opinions so i dont think this counts as one but her kh2 outfit kinda ugly ngl.. like girlie what are those SHOES and why do they have less of a red hue than ur dress? ik u havent seen ur two best friends in a year but GET IT TOGETHER !!!!!!
favorite relationship: HER AND AXEL HANDS DOWN i wish i got to see them actually train together rather than just them talking ab training. they ARE siblings it doesn’t matter if its true or not and axel is like a more grown up and mature roderick from diary of a wimpy kid. once again the bite scene is so funny but i rly like how afterwards kairi is still bothered by being kidnaped and scolds him then realizes that they’re both against the organization after empathizing w him missing roxas.
personal headcanon: oooohhh kairi plays an electric black heart shaped guitar covered in stickers. she writes songs in the style of candy pop, frequently covers beach bunny and songs from paramore’s self-titled album, and she likes to sew her own outfits as well as embroider little things on her clothes.

yeah like. Obviously my opinion on fashion is my own, & i do think people should generally be free to act & wear whatever the hell they want (even if i personally think it's dumb), but ...... i think the whole point of the original post was to point out that tiktok's definition of Weird has become so, so fucking sterilized it's unbearable, yknow ?? it's so aestheticized that it's become utterly disconnected from the real world .
like .... when ur definition of 'weirdness' relies entirely on outfits and makeup that have been carefully curated (constructed based on social media, influencers/celebrities, brands, & an amalgamation of fast-moving trends (yknow .... the ____core styles...)), ur just perpetuating an increasingly narrow and increasingly inaccessible definition of what is "Weird" .
yknow what i mean ??? the search for uniqueness eventually makes everyone look the same anyways. & the push to make "Weirdness" trendy is just resulting in an idealized aesthetic that completely doesn’t account for actual social outliers .... bc lets be real: most of the genuine weird kids u knew from highschool were probably poor, probably mentally ill, or both. they're not the ones dropping $450 on depop for appearance-based attention & validation .
i'm genuinely not angry at people who want to participate in fun trends, i just like . wish they were more mindful of why they feel the need to do it, how it plays into beauty culture (& the fast fashion crisis), & whether or not they feel good about themselves when they're Not doing it. i just wish there was more substance behind it, and that it wasn't a dress-up game restricted to the Rich And Pretty.

hey ik this is random but I was scrolling thru the leaving cert tag and saw your post abt your results. Firstly congrats (even if it is 3 years late haha), secondly I’m currently in 6th year and was wondering if I could ask for some English advice? I’m looking to go up a grade (h3->h2) and was wondering if you have any particular tips for studying english, the exam, technique, or for literally anything relevant to the subject. There’s no pressure to answer this, ty either way :)))

LC English tips below!
Okay so it’s been a while since I did the LC but if things are more or less the same, then you’ve got your three texts to answer a question on.
Tip #1: Even though there is an awful lot to learn, you just need to remember key words, and you’ll sail through!
In the comparative, you need to compare your texts in every. single. paragraph. You could write a fantastic essay, but if you don’t say “In comparison to this…” “Text 2 however differs from this…” “Similarly…” “The two texts are different in the sense that…” etc. you will get zero marks at all.
When answering your poetry question, you need to keep referring to the style of the poet. Every past poetry question can be broken down into two simple questions: What did the poet write about? and how did they say it? If you can answer both these questions on every poem you learn, you’ll do great!
Also, do not learn any more than 5 poems per poet and don’t learn any more than 5 poets to begin with. This covers you completely no matter who appears on the day!
Tip #2: Please please pleaseee remember that for the comphrehension section, you must answer one question A and one question B from two different texts! If you answer from the same text you will get 0 and worse than that, this section is worth 12.5% of your total paper which means you will be down an entire grade immediately.
The length of your answer needs to correspond to the marks going for that question. In question A you usually have three parts, worth 15m, 15m, and 20m. Your 20 mark answer must be longer than your 15 mark questions.
For every 5 marks a question is worth, you need 1 A4-page pararaph. Unless you’ve got tiny writing, this is usually 5 to 7 lines of the page.
Your teacher has undoubtedly told you all about timing and “don’t spend any longer than 40 minutes on your question A” and yea they have a point, to an extent. I spent about an hour answering my question A and then sailed through question B because for me, I found the second question a lot easier to answer. Don’t panic if you don’t stick to the “recommended time” because every single person is different and what you find easy might be difficult for someone else.
In saying that, if you are spending loadsss of time on one particular section and you can feel the clock ticking, then move the heck on. Take a deep breath, leave a blank page for yourself to come back to that question later, and start your next part. Every question has a finite amount of marks, so no matter how brilliant your 20 mark answer is, you can only ever get 20 marks for it, and if that answer came at the expense of not getting question B done at all, then you’re down a grade already.
Tip #3: They want your opinion. Let me repeat that. They want your opinion. No matter what the heck they ask you, whether it’s about poetry or your novel or a Shakespearean text, the examiner will be checking to see what you thought of the text. I know firsthand how weird writing things like “In my opion...” or “I believe that...” but this is how you get the marks. Don’t lose the H2 you’re aiming for cause you’re feeling a bit awkward. After the exam, that feeling will never matter again, but your grade will!
Link every single paragraph in every single answer. This doesn’t have to be complicated, you don’t even need to write an entire sentence. Just start every new paragraph with phrases like “However...” or “Therefore...” or “In contrast to this...”. If you don’t link your paragraphs, the examiner will think that you don’t know what you’re talking about and that you have no opinion of your own (see Tip #3) so use those joining phrases!
Tip #4: For that letter/article/diary entry question B, make sure that whatever part of it you answer, you know the layout for that style. Reports must have a title, introduction, work carried out, findings, suggestions, recommendations, and conclusion sections. Essays need to have a clear introduction, 5+ paragraphs, and closing. Even diary entries should begin with ‘Dear Diary’ which physically causes me pain to write, but it’s what gets you the marks!
Letters are the most asked question B but the most diffuclt to get good marks in. First things first: Figure out if it’s formal or informal. Formal will be editors, principals, government, or anyone that you would address as “sir” or “ma’am” in real life. Informal will be your friends, close family members, penpals, or anyone you’d hug goodbye and laugh with in real life.
Formal letters begin with your own name in the right hand corner of the page, with your own address directly below it. Skip a line, and then write the date below it, always in the format of “01 January 2020″ and be sure to check the question for any hint about what this date should be. If you’re writing a letter to your boss asking about organising a staff barbarcue for staff morale, then you wouldn’t date it in the middle of December, right? Sign off with something professional like “Kind regards” or “Thank you for your time”
Informal letters begin with your own address on the top right-hand corner of the page but do not write your name! It’s an informal letter to your friend; they know who you are. Skip a line, and then write the date below it, always in the format of “01 January 2020″ and pay attention to the time of year again. Sign off with something casual like “see you later!” or “talk soon!”
Tip #5: Section 2′s composing section is worth an entire 25% of your paper. If you want to get a good grade, you need to get a good grade in this. If you’re aiming for a H2, then you need to get a H2 in this section minimum.
Your essay should be between 4 to 6 pages, or 1000 to 1250 words. At least.
Always open with a quote, a rhetorical question, or a shocking statistic. I went online the night before my Paper One exam, and wrote down 10 quotes from well-known people about the most popular topics in life, eg. Education, Love, Money, Travelling, Death, Youth & Aging, etc. and just learnt them off in half an hour. I ended up using three of them on the day, and you have no idea the relief you feel when you’re guaranteed that at least one thing in your composition will get you marks!
Take an entire A4 page and plan your essay before you start. Not only is it just common sense and super helpful to get all your ideas down before you forget them, but if you run out of time for whatever reason, then the examiner will be able to see what you were planning to write, and will give you an extra mark or two. Your plan doens’t have to be complicated and you definitely shouldn’t spend any longer than 5 minutes on it. Just throw down a few words, organise them based on paragraph, and then start writing.
And finally (i’m so sorry that you had to read all that) remain calm! No matter what happens, whether you get a H1 or a H7, as long as you do your best then no one can say anything to you! You are more than your grade and you are more than some English exam that won’t matter in ten years anyway. Stay calm, always put your mental and physical health first, and remember that this paper is not the end all be all of anything. You’ve got this.

hello! I would like to request a haikyuu matchup please :D (I apologize in advance if I write too much aksjk hopefully it'll make it easier to match me up?)
1) I'm a straight female and use she/her pronouns
2) I'm about 5'6", have straight brown hair (my friend says it looks orange-ish in the sunlight??), brown eyes, and I've been told that I'm kinda pale (but unfortunately flush easily lol).
As for things that make me stand out, I have patches of eczema littered all over my skin. I have a few on my hands and wrists and even though ik they're not a good thing and of course would much prefer not having eczema, I kinda like that it makes me unique. I also have round glasses (my eyesight is extremely bad ㅠㅠ), wear a lot of black, and recently have been wearing this tan overcoat everytime I go out bc it's big and comfy. oh, and I've always loved black low-top converse!
I'm overweight so I'm kinda insecure about my physical appearance, but I've been dealing with it for so long that ig I've come to terms with it and have just accepted that this is how I am (but I have been trying to exercise... >_>)
3) I'm a gemini, istp-t, and enneagram type 5. I think I treat people how they treat me; if someone doesn't talk to me, I probably won't talk to them unless necessary, and if someone is very friendly and nice to me, I'll be a bit more open and talk more. I'm usually pretty reserved and go with the flow, but around people I'm more comfortable with I can be very sarcastic and playful. I'm kinda a mom/therapist friend. I'm very lazy and an expert procrastinater (I do what's necessary in the most efficient way possible, unless it's something that I enjoy).
Some things I enjoy: cooking & baking, arts & crafts, reading, sketching, 80s music, watching anime/tv/movies (especially crime, mystery, and thriller), and photography (as far as taking scenic photos with my phone goes lmao). idk if this counts as interests, but I'm planning on majoring in business administration and accounting. and as for my clothing style, I currently dress for comfort bc I'm always inside, but if I get a chance to redo my wardrobe I'd like to dress in a style more like dark academia/comfy casual? I have no idea if those are the right words to describe it 😅
4) I'm pretty sure my love language is physical touch, but I also really enjoy receiving spontaneous gifts or stuff I've been wanting (and money lmao I'm a big saver)! I've never been in a relationship, but I know I would definitely have to be friends with someone before even considering a serious romantic relationship, so I would ideally be comfortable around them already. I have a tendency to bottle up my emotions and I'm honestly a bit of a tsundere, so I think I might be shy in voicing my wants/initiating things. as for my type, I would prefer someone tall, mature but able to be playful and can take a joke (I sometimes use "idiot" as a term of endearment sksj I can be kinda mean sometimes tbh), patient since I'll take a while to open up, and ideally ambitious and willing to take initiative (bonus points if they're able to keep up with my sarcastic banter!)
5) I definitely like to sleep in, but if I need to wake up early and I can do so relatively easily. ig you could say I'm more of a night owl. I'm in a constant state of tiredness (possibly fatigued but idk) lol. I could technically live without music but would 100% prefer not to. my favorite song is "eyes without a face" by billy idol. I've never really thought about what my ideal first date would be, but I would like if it was well thought out and personal instead of the typical movie and dinner I suppose.

♡ . . . REASONINGS : filtering through the information, i have decided that, in my personal opinion, you are best paired with kuroo tetsurou!
starting off, the trench coat? comfy and casual dark academia fashion style? from looks alone, you seem like a pretty good match-up with kuroo. on the outside look in, i feel like you both would look like a really smart, cute, and sensible / mature couple! in all honesty, i think that kuroo would find your big glasses adorable ( and if you're prone to loosing them, he would find it sickeningly cute if you cling to him while you both searched for the glasses ). i imagine his breath hitches whenever his eyes lay on your figure in the setting sun, turning your hair into a pretty orange-brown shade that makes his heart beat a little bit faster.
kuroo is used to being around more reserved people ( as he was once reserved, and now his best friend is rather reserved as well ), so becoming a friends-to-lovers dynamic would be easy. your playfulness and possible sarcasm seems to perfectly interact with his own, and considering some research about your enneagram and personality type, i think that your ( possible ) creativity and curiosity really intrigues him and keeps him curious and attentive with you. i feel that he might always be wondering what's going on in that pretty head of yours, curious to know what your next wonderful idea is or what your mind is thinking about.

YOUR ART IS INCREDIBLE YOU’RE HONESTLY SO INSANELY TALENTED I AM HONESTLY IN AWE WHENEVER I SEE ONE OF YOUR ART PIECES, THEY’RE ALWAYS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! And pls ignore those haters they’re absolute idiots who seem to think asians only have certain features apparently and can’t seem to realise that there’s something called creative liberty😐
So many capital letters haha ^^ thank you a lot for your appreciation. *bow 😀 I gonna take your comment as opportunity to write down some thoughts I had on this topic.
Of course I am not painting isolated, I love to browse art from other artists, sometimes getting inspiration or just to get more stimulated. And for sure I stumble sometimes over art which technically is maybe not as refined but somehow hits me, then I stumble over art which is technically extremely good but well... I feel nothing but I still awe the beauty and there is even art which slightly disturbs me and fetishizes something I don't really am into... but dammit it's really well painted and I can just accept that the artist did a great job and I don't need to be in the fetish.
Then, there is also art which is technically undeveloped, due to the painters inexperience for example but I appreciate the try since ik myself, painting is work.
I caught myself a couple of times being about technically extremely versatile artists more critical and then thought.. who am I to judge, went into some introspection and realised: that was pure jealousy. Oh yeah, jealousy, nothing more, that yellow eyed monster within me trying to lower down others just to feel better myself. But... I never released that monster officially of course. In fact, before I leave a critical comment, I think twice and when I comment I just comment on the technical side. If the picture isn't violating any real persons or depicting very, very, very controversial topics like religion or politics to ridicule opinions of other people I basically don't care. Let people paint what they want, I don't need uniformity.
If someone wants to paint the earth is flat, just go ahead! First, idk if the person really thinks the earth is flat... or, is it maybe just some fantasy? Is it just for fun, did the artist just try out how the earth would look flat or is it easier for him to paint the earth kind of flat. Is the painter of that pic maybe someone who had no education and just painted what he sees and tries to imagine how it might look like. Or is the artist just painting something that came into his mind without a lot of thinking and it's now me interpreting something in his flat earth picture which he didn't even think of. But the most important thing: the earth won't get flatter just with that one flat earth painting.
Even with 1000 of that flat earth paintings, it won't. Being an individuum that is able to controle my emotions and to recognise what's important and what not I wouldn't even think to rent about that flat earth artist. Let him paint the flat earth, I can mildly smirk about him or shake my head and move on to the round earth painting I like most. There are more important things than to explode about a flat earth painting.
Now... I am not painting reality, I don't believe in my paintings showing reality or anything remotely close to reality. It's impossible that any character I paint is real. And I clearly distinguish between real people I see on the street or documentaries (I don't say media in general cuz... we only see the most beautiful people in movies or social media with all the filter and photoshop and it gives a contorted view on "reality") and painted anime charas. Recently I saw (oh I got actually an education by one of my "critics" in how I should paint!) a lot of realistic anime character fanarts which clearly just were repaints from given photographies of random prototype Asian models... the technical side was extremely good, forgetting the fact that it still was a repaint and repaint is always a bit easier since u don't need to think about the facial features anymore yourself... but the charas... they looked so realistic, so much like real people that again I wasn't able to see the anime chara anymore. For me it was just the random prototype Asian model (perfect as they are, because, well... model) from the photography with slightly changed hair and... blue eyes.
But! And now that's the big difference, I look at that kind of very realistic fanart and although it doesn't even remotely remind me of that anime chara and I feel nothing for it than some portrait photography repaint, it would never, never come into my mind commenting with (insert the vomit emoji here, cuz that's what happened to my art) a disgracing and hurtful comment just because I think my vision, my very private believe of what is a good fanart stands above anything else and I have the right and privilege to lower the artist in any kind of way. Who am I to feel superior?... exactly, I don't have that right, especially on something very subjective as looks of anime charas in fanart.
I realised by a couple of conversations with people who have no issues with my art that a lot of the hate roots from wanting to feel moral-wise superior. It's like a trend to stomp over everything, doesn't even need to be very important or influential, that doesn't meet the standard of what is moralistic acceptable in one owns subjective believe. Some call it being sensitive about what art should show and I guess the haters would call themselves even very sensitive and caring for over people... but want to be frank here, it's not sensitivity, it's being bored by their own lives and having no creative potential themselves. So.. what are we gonna do today? Complaining, cancelling, hating, yeah, that's a good hobby!
Sorry to inform you that your "sensitivity" is hurting me a lot.
I don't aim to call out specifically with my art to a particular group of people or disgracing them, there is clearly no hate inside or anything, I certainly don't try to portrait reality... dammit it's Anime charas! They aren't real in the first place! Gargh... If someone has an issue with the facial looks of how I paint, I am very very fine with a comment like: "hey you know, somehow I see in my mind Miya Osamu looking more like Toshirou Mifune... but, you know, it's ok, you aren't a mind reader. :) I would like to share my fanart of Osamu with u, too then u can see what I have in mind." That's a respectful, a very constructive and even inviting and mature comment. If I sounded a bit rude in the past towards haters it wasn't because I am rude but I got a couple of very humiliating comments that my only way to answer was to give them the same medicine back they forced me to swallow.
Hfff... so long... sorry.
Idk if haters or immature people who come across my paintings are going to read this and understand what I want to say so just for repeat: I don't have anything bad in mind with my art, I don't try to colonialize Asia, I don't see my art as absolute truth and its not a perfect replication of the original anime character. It's fan-ta-sy. If u don't like the style and aesthetic, move on, paint your own interpretation, that's the best way to put my art aside if u want to put it aside.
And for the people who like my art, you are my heroes, not because u are flattering me with comments (yeah also that tho lol) but because u let me see that there are rational thinking people out there, not oversensitive and in constant alarm to sniff around like blood dogs finding another topic to rent about but just enjoying fanart at what it is: fanart. It's you who enjoy their lives and I am enjoying it, too.

ok i still havent gotten the secret ending but farming for it might take me a bit so im gonna make a thoughts post for age of calamity now:

things i enjoyed:
revali beatdown simulator
the controls for the divine beasts are a bit clunky, but i think the angles they used for them did an excellent job at really making the player feel like we were actually controlling a divine beast. so i think it was done well.
link’s personality really gets to shine full force in this game with the amount of cut scenes and it was wonderful to see
every character clearly had a lot of love put into how they operate. they truly all feel unique, & all of their play styles fit them really well in my opinion
the game does a really good job of making you understand what a real threat the monsters are. like in botw they’re intimidating at first, but once you’re far enough into the game they become just an inconvenience to work around if anything. this game managed to actually make certain monsters intimidating for me again, and i think that’s a real accomplishment
the blight battles are actually somewhat challenging in this game and that is truly a commendable achievement lol i think all the bosses are good tbh. i didnt rly dislike or not enjoy any of them.
the way daruk and link’s friendship & urbosa’s motherly relationship towards zelda got to shine was. so good. it’s all i could’ve ever wanted
seeing the descendants again was really nice & it was awesome to see the champions interacting with them!! especially sidon and mipha omggggg. that was. really fucking good shit
kohga. just. kohga in general. getting to see more of him was really rad, he’s such a fun guy! and his english va was Excellent. you could really tell he was having a lot of fun playing him, and it was lovely to see! :)
zelda getting to really shine in this game was also lovely to see. and her being so assertive and badass by the end? omg. it was so wonderful especially after botw. man.
the combat is done very well imo. im rly glad that they took so many elements from botw, but also added their own flares to make it feel fresh. it was rad.
sidon’s tagline is “winning smile” and his power is “boundless optimism” and i think that’s beautiful
the music in this game is SOOOOO good oh my god. multiple times during playing i had to pause to just appreciate it. it’s pretty much all remixes of botw with a few originals for the new characters, but they all slap. there was not a single song in this game i didn’t like. it is definitely one of my favorite video game soundtracks officially. maybe one of my favorite overall soundtracks in general tbh.
the visuals obviously look just like botw, but it still looked fucking gorgeous at some points. like. man. they really went off to make it look not only faithful to botw as far as appearance goes, but also as far as capturing botw’s beauty and it was. excellent to see!
if anything is true to botw’s backstory, it’s definitely how op link is. cause he was established to be op in botw, & when u finish botw he is also op as hell. he is so fun to play as the higher leveled he gets. he absolutely kicks ass. especially with a two-handed weapon??? daaaaammmmnnn. thats my badass baby boy!!!!
link eating rocks not once, but TWICE. just showing PEAK gremlin energy. 10/10 for those scenes they were great
the ending was really beautiful actually and i did cry like a little baby for it what about it
things i didn’t like:
obviously first and foremost.. this is not the game we were advertised. and no matter how much i overall enjoyed the game, it will always have some layer of being tainted attached to it due to the false advertising. this is not the prequel we thought we’d be getting. & not using “prequel” specifically doesn’t matter when all the advertising, including the box art talks about this being the story of what happened 100 years ago. with no indication it wasn’t the story of what happened 100 years ago in the botw timeline, but a separate universe/timeline entirely. i do hope we get dlc for the game at some point giving us what we were advertised, but at the same time... rly wish that the story that’s in the final game was dlc, & the story we were promised was the original :/ or just having the game have two separate storylines originally would’ve been cool. i just wish it wasn’t falsely advertised.

the ai for player characters when you aren’t playing as them can also be pretty useless. it was really frustrating failing missions because my fellow party members weren’t helping me, and i was basically expected to be in two places at once to get shit done myself. :/ ik you can just switch between characters to make it easier, but like. i like playing as link the most. he’s my favorite character, & ofc since he’s mandatorily played for most of the story, he’s gonna be the most leveled up character regardless so he’s just the best to play as in general especially for harder missions. it was annoying to be forced to play as other people Solely cause the ai was so useless.
king rhoam’s attempt at a redemption arc. i’m not sorry that i just fucking hate this man. i don’t mind him entirely in botw bc you can see clear, genuine remorse during the cut scene at the end of the great plateau. but the redemption arc he gets in this game? after all the fucking shit he does in this game? especially when after his ~redemption arc~ i had to sit through a cut scene of him being an absolute fucking asshole to baby zelda after her mother just died????? absolutely fuck that shit. i don’t appreciate that crap at fucking all. he’s a verbally abusive piece of shit and i hate his guts.
obviously there was gonna be some retconning of how certain things worked in botw in order to make this kinda game work but the way sheikah technology works in this game is so goddamn confusing i do not get it. the works of botw are never outright said or explained completely, but it’s straightforward enough that it doesn’t really matter. this game does try to explain certain things and it just becomes. really clunky and confusing very quickly.
the story is alright, i guess, but..... really confusing/convoluted as hell at times to a point that it’s. really fucking distracting. especially in comparison to how straightforward botw’s story is. like..... cannot help but be annoyed that such a problem wouldn’t have been a thing if they stuck to botw’s story.
i was sad when the egg thing died but i dont like the egg thing.... it is the MAIN reason shit was retconned so much & i just. dont get its purpose. but i did really like the reveal that zelda made it herself. that was good shit!
also the egg glitched out like. a LOT. idk what the fuck was going on with the poor thing but there was multiple times during a cut scene or when i was just sitting there that it was freaking out in the background and it was rly weird
elemental overworld boss monsters................. obnoxious. especially elemental guardians like goddamn bro what the fuck
i know warriors’ games aren’t about exploring anyway but the limitations for exploring was really sad/frustrating. this is still somewhat the world of hyrule before the calamity, which is something we’ve always wanted to see. not being able to explore even the immediate area at certain points because of shit like timed missions was really upsetting, man. :( i just wanted to see hyrule castle Before the calamity why was did they have to rob us like that.....
creepy corrupted egg’s transformation. why. what was that. what the fuck
even though i did enjoy the boss fights, it did get. incredibly taxing eventually to have to fight the SAME bastards so many times. like yeah botw is also guilty of this with the blights, but goddamn.... at least i have a choice to avoid certain encounters with them? this game has you fighting the same bitches like upwards of 3-4 times. it was. really annoying tbh. like the fights themselves are enjoyable, but damn we added new characters and it still inevitably lacked variety in boss fights.
no playable kass >:( if he’s available later in dlc then fine but i wish he was playable in the original game. so many random choices you’d never expect are. why couldn’t he also be there >:(
overall:
it will forever have that sour taste for the false advertising attached to it unfortunately, but that aside, i overall did enjoy the game! i think it has a lot to love in spite of the issues i encountered. as someone who has this as their first warriors game as well, it did lend itself to letting me see the appeal of them. idk if i’ll get more, but i do get why they’re so beloved/popular now. it was an alright time, with some amazing highlights that i’m gonna think back on very fondly for a very, very long time. if i had to rate it..... 7/10

your gifs always look AMAZING!! do you have any colouring tips regarding skin?? sorry if youve answered this before!
hi omg 🥺🥺🥺 thank you first of all for saying my gifs are nice ; v ; !! i reallllly appreciate that !!! secondly so sorry that i took so long to get to this ask, i really didnt have a chance to open up ps and look at everything that i always use in my gifs and i wanted to give you a good answer to this question ; ___ ;
Colour Theory: i’d really recommend you look into colour theory and do some quick research on how colours work, what colours look good together, what colours cancel other colours out, etc, etc... it’s really important to get this sorta thing simply because it’ll make your life on photoshop a LOT easier, and that might be a personal opinion but !! i genuinely think that its a great first step when it comes to making gifs! its also super important bc every vid is obviously different, and knowing where to start from/go from is a big help and if you understand colour theory, the moment you look at a vid you’ll be able to kinda form a plan of how certain colours will look on this and how your psd will change it, etc etc!!
Red/Yellow/Green: skin is just mostly a mixture of reds and yellows, but also green plays a role there too. when you’re adjusting the colouring and trying not to wash out the skin tone, it’s important to add in yellows and reds without saturating it too much so that it doesn’t look unnatural. adding green in can mellow out the reds if they’re too intense (and blue can tone out yellow)!!!
Curves Adjustment: curves are really your best friend... i find that adjusting the curves helps to create a natural unnoticeable bias (if you’re not pushing it too much that is) with the RGB scale... it’s really useful and its my go-to when it comes to trying to keep the skin tone looking natural!
Selective Colour Adjustment: selective colour is also fantastic bc it targets the specific colours and can therefore easily darken or lighten a certain colour that you’re working with OR change it to a completely different colour. this is also why i really recommended learning some colour theory bc selective colour really depends on understand what you’re doing.. (of course for the first little while that i giffed i didnt know shit abt colour theory so i just guessed and you can always do that but i just really recommend to make your life easier!)
Hue/Saturation + Brightness/Contrast + Vibrance Adjustments: Also important, these 5 can also play a big part in colouring (in general and not just for skin) and you should also pay attention to how some problems are super easily fixed by dropping saturation, or upping brightness, or etc. its the little things that can up how good your colouring looks and paying attention to these can help!!
Practice (?): ig it sounds dumb but yeah... just with time it’ll become easier and more natural for you... you’ll probably create a psd you really love eventually and keep it and use that a lot! i recommend just testing different styles until you find something you really love!! its not an exact science and everyone has their own unique style so just have fun TT TT ik giffing gets bleh a lot for me but colouring is the part i usually enjoy the most !! and dont feel afraid to ask for advice from someone?? like i get second opinion from even my family when i’m making gifs so !! yeah ; __ ;

I don't know if you've talked about this before but how do you build your confidence with writing? Ik it's something that takes time and at the end of the day you have to enjoy what you're writing, but every time I write something, I'll post it and then later on reread it and just inwardly cringe because it seems sloppy and just overall lacking? ~taeil anon
Well you see, like you said it will definitely take time. How much time it takes depends on you and only you you know? We all have different standards and ideas on how to write, and we all like different things.
I think the reason your pieces (and I don’t mean YOU specifically I mean you as in the general person, and I’m including myself in this) seem maybe lacking here and there is because when we read our own works, we don’t read them for enjoyment we read them because we feel like we could’ve done this. We could’ve done that- things we hadn’t noticed before. And this is because with every fic and with every blurb or timestamp, we’re learning. We’re always always learning, so when we come back- whether you notice it or not we’re more knowledgeable than we were a little while ago.
Just always write and build on yourself- don’t force it, just enjoy it. When you get an idea you LOVE maybe throw together a mini blurb and literally just blah all over a draft and see what you get. Not everything will be perfect and that’s okay, bc you’re still writing and trying and improving all the time you know?
Onto the confidence side, I think the reason it takes time is bc as you write and write you begin to realise what is most comfortable for you, what your own personal style is. I mean I didn’t even know I had one until this ask got me thinking and I ended up asking Ivy- who told me I DID.
This confidence comes from posting and getting messages and notes and reblogs for FEEDBACK. Please don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t have a lot at first bc that doesn’t mean your writing is bad it just means it’s hasn’t been circulated a lot. And you will always get more over time. Some logical tips you could do is use lots of tags and ask for interaction and feedback! If you get criticism that’s fine, good even! Because now you know where to build, where you were lacking before and now you can hone in on it and fix it and see how your writing changes and becomes more confident, do you see what I mean?
If it helps you can always ask a friends opinions and ask them for ideas, for them to proof read and instill their own opinions and help you. God I really hopes this makes sense bc honestly? This is what I did. I wrote a piece, wasn’t sure about it until I sent it to someone whose writing I liked and asked her to read it. She said it was great and reblogged it, helping my fic to get to more people and receive more feedback! Over time I just continued to write and filled my masterlist and I got more of a platform and my works were seen and people liked it, and I realised wow...maybe I am good at this...right?
There’s that quote that goes something like “a good artist copies, but a great artist steals” IM NOT SAYING PLAGIARISM because that’s bad!! But look at how others write and get ideas from that. Explore, create, listen and show. I really hope this helped bc I feel like I babbled and I wanted to make sure nothing in here gave you the idea that you won’t be in enough, because honestly Anonnie? Your works? GREAT. I love them, your little blurbs are so sweet and creative and you fit the perfect amount in such a small paragraph and I really applaud that skill! Remember when I said everyone has different opinions? Maybe the fic you don’t like, is saved in someone’s favourite fic blog or someone has it screenshotted to reread over and over again.

1.) Oh hell, I’m not sure if I can actually pinpoint my first ship. The first I can actually remember is probably Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, way back when I was five or six and finally got my hands on The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Of course, I had no concept of romantic vs. platonic or subtext or anything like that, but I did know this John Watson fellow really seems to spend a lot of time talking about Sherlock, and Mom always said you talk a lot about the people you like. Honestly I still ship it.
2.) Hmm…Fred and Daphne from Scooby-Doo. I know it’s hinted with all the subtlety of a burning building, but as I got older I kind of fell away from the series and when I drifted back in every so often, it just never had the same appeal or finality it used to.
3.) Probably Clydi (Clyde/Heidi)? It doesn’t seem to have much of a following, at least none that I’ve found, and while it’s a recent ship of mine (borne purely out of a superhero au I’ve been tinkering with) I really like it. I think it’s a pairing that has a interesting dynamic, and I think Clyde is capable of being a good boyfriend when he’s genuinely invested. It would probably be more of a high school relationship, though; Heidi needs to stand on her own two feet for awhile again before she looks into dating.
4.) Kyman. Specifically when it’s played off as healthy and mutually desired. Until Cartman works through his issues (and the kid could keep an army of therapists in business for decades), he’s not capable of a healthy relationship in the long term—just look at what happened with Heidi. And I really hate everyone buying into intense hatred meaning there’s romantic attraction in there. It’s a dangerous bit of heterosexual/patriarchal thinking geared towards normalizing and romanticizing abusive relationships. Just because Cartman likes to pull Kyle’s pigtails and Kyle reacts does not mean there’s grounds for a relationship. I’ve given the ship a try, but it bothers me like hell when people sweep Cartman’s many issues under the rug (and at the same time feminize Kyle) in order to make it work. I’d much rather Kyle end up with someone who fully respects him and has no interest in tearing him down as a person.
5.) An underrated ship? Probably Amir and Shelly. Or Larry Feegan and Shelly. Those were really cute ships that only lasted an episode each. I really liked the storyline between Larry and Shelly; it was cute and wholesome and honest. And the one between Shelly and Amir was sweet and awkward, and very much like what you’d expect between a couple of twelve/thirteen-year-olds. I wouldn’t expected them to last into adulthood, especially since Larry’s dead but it would’ve been nice to see them last a bit longer than a single episode.
(Putting the headcanons under a read more because it’s fairly lengthy. There are a lot of kids in this show.)
(*) Stan: Gay. 100%, dyed-in-the-wool gay. Might experiment with genderfluidity for a bit in college, but would decide he’s most comfortably with a male identity and pronouns.
Shelly: Bisexual. She’ll likely experiment a bit in college and find out she likes girls just a little bit more than guys. She’s also a cis-female.
Kyle: Gray-asexual, demi-romantic. Might identify as agender or as a demiboy as he gets older, but would likely still use male pronouns because it’s easier than having a discussion on gender identity every time pronoun usage comes up.
Ike: 100% straight. The kid’s been obsessed with ‘taming strange’ since he was a damn toddler. He might go through a ‘bi-curious’ stage around high school or college, but he’ll definitely be more interested in women.
Cartman: Severely closeted homosexual who will spend his entire life insisting he’s straight. He’ll probably marry a woman and have a kid or two before it blows up in a messy divorce once he finally comes to terms with liking dick. Will also never stray from a cis-male gender identity, but will cross dress intermittently.
Kenny: Technically has three sets of sexualities and gender identities, since I headcanon him as having D.I.D. Kenny is a pansexual, panromantic, and agender. He doesn’t really feel much claim to a masculine or feminine identity, but like Kyle he sticks to male pronouns because it’s easier. Mysterion is a straight cis-male, and Princess Kenny is a pansexual, biromantic, transgirl.
Kevin: Straight cis-male. Not that he ever really thinks too deeply on it, though.
Karen: She’ll probably be either a cis-female or identify as a demigirl. Demisexual and heteroromantic.
Butters: Bisexual cis-male. I know a lot of people love transgirl!Butters (I do, too), but we’ve only ever seen Butters dressing as a girl in one episode. If anything, he’s effeminate, but very decidedly male.
Craig: Demisexual, homoromantic, and a demiboy. He doesn’t really think too much about how he identifies, but when he checks out an LGBT+ group on campus, he discovers a plethora of identities and picks out what seems to fit best and leave it at that.
Tricia: Lesbian. Cis-female and up until the end of high school her style can be described as ‘baby butch’. (Or something like that; like, you can tell she really likes the butch aesthetic but her parents won’t let her accomplish the full look. I’m not certain if there’s an actual term for that.)
Tweek: 100% homosexual. The kid couldn’t be gayer if he tried. Cis-male and his aggressive, take-charge tendencies are kind of a huge turn-on for Craig.
Clyde: Heterosexual, biromantic, cis-male. He tries dating a couple of guys in college, but no matter how much he loves them, he’s just not in to sex with guys. He has a relationship with an asexual homoromantic guy that lasts for awhile, but it eventually ends on amicable terms.
Jimmy: 96% straight. Occasionally he’ll find a guy he likes, but Jimmy’s more interested in girls and doesn’t really think ‘bisexual’ applies to his tastes. Also a cis-male.
Token: 100% straight, incredibly traditional views of romance and relationships, and very firmly identifies as a guy.
Wendy: Bisexual, probably leans a bit more towards lesbian. Identifies as female, but doesn’t really feel a very strong connection with female pronouns.
Bebe: 100% lesbian. Demi-romantic, though, so actual relationships are rare for her. Very self-reliant and has a strong sense of self.
Red: 100% lesbian as well. Most likely goes through a dozen relationships throughout high school and college, will likely get engaged and married with her father firmly convinced she and her wife are just ‘gals being pals’. I headcanon her dad as Skeeter.)
Heidi: Hasn’t really thought about dating girls, tentatively considers herself bisexual since she doesn’t mind the idea of dating and having sex with girls, but doesn’t really act on it. Cis-female.

Fire Emblem Heroes: Long haired gents tier list

Edit: Forgot Jeorge so I added him. Thank you @animemes420 for pointing out his absence.
I haven’t seen anyone do this so I’m gonna rate all the guys with long hair and put them in a tier. I’ll do the same for the girls later today.
Warning: This is purely my opinion. Feel free to make your own tier list.
C Tier: Hoshido without Takumi
These gents have not fully mastered the long hair look and could use some more work. Of course, their hair is nice but they’ve got work to do.
At the bottom, we’ve got Corrin. His hair is pretty unique but is completely outmatched by his female counterpart’s beautiful hair... And everyone else’s. 5.5/10
Hinata’s got a bit of a mess going on. I’m sure it would look better down but Hinata chooses to tie it up weirdly. He should find a nicer style. 6/10
Oh, Lobster Ryoma... His hair is long and fluffy but the varying lengths make it hard to wash and it probably gets stuck in his armor a lot. 6.5/10
B Tier: Normie hair
Here we have the average hair. Nothing bad or good to say, it’s average. Could be better but could be worse.
Virion probably played Final Fantasy VII and was a big Sephiroth fan. Sadly, he doesn’t pull the bangs off as well as Sephiroth (who’s a top tier). 7/10
Valter has potential but he doesn’t seem to brush his hair enough. Can’t blame him too much since it’s probably hard to find nice brushes where he lives. 7/10
Innes’ hair is simple and practical. Nothing bad to say. 7/10
Eldigan has got a beautiful hair color but minus points for the mullet. 7.5/10
Simple and manly. Hawkeye’s hair makes him manly and he takes care of it. But he doesn’t seem that interested in his hair... 7.5/10
A Tier: Nice hair for everyone
Now starts the beautiful hair. These gents’ hair is above average and well taken care of.
Subaki has got a nice and practical hairstyle. It’s definitely a style that suits many people. 8/10
Seliph’s hairstyle kinda looks like Marth’s but longer. Beautiful hair seems to run in his mom’s side of the family. It’s a shame he didn’t get his uncle’s hair gene. 8.5/10
Jakob has great hair which reflects his personality. It is well kept and noble. 9/10
Leon has the luck of having natural purple hair. His hair is also practical and seems very easy to wash and dry. 9.5/10
Jeorge has got beautiful long hair with a beautiful color. It’s tied so that it doesn’t get in the way. Overal it’s quite nice. 9.5/10
S Tier: Long and beautiful flowing hair
These gents have hair much better than you and I. They’ve spent time on their hair and take pride in it.
Joshua’s hair is plain badass, it makes up for his Ryo face. Great color too. 10/10
Navarre has got beautiful flowing hair. I don’t see any flaws in it. 10/10
I couldn’t tell at first glance that Michalis had long hair because he keeps it underneath his cape. Very smart of him, he found a way to have long hair and keep it protected in battle. 10/10
Karel’s hair is long. Longer than anyone else’s on this list. This doesn’t stop him from kicking ass. If you’re a great swordsman like him, no one can even touch your hair in battle. 10/10
Everyone’s favorite taco/pineapple, Takumi probably has the most unique hairstyle. It looks even nicer down, it’s a shame he always keeps it tied though. It cost him the SS Tier. 10/10
SS Tier: Pretty Magical Boys
And at last, we’ve reached the top tier. These magical gents have got the best hair of all. They probably use at least one bottle of L’Oreal shampoo everytime they shower. You want their hair and they know it. Don’t touch it though, they’ll blast you with their magic. Oh, I forgot to mention something. Being a magic user and having long hair is what guarantees an SS Tier spot.
When I first saw Arvis my first thought was “His hair is beautiful”. His hair has such a beautiful color and it matches his magic. His hairstyle is also amazing, I wish I could have his hair. 11/10
Not putting Lucius in the SS Tier would be a crime against humanity. His hair is so beautiful and smooth. The only reason he didn’t make it into the Long Haired Gents gauntlet was that he’d destroy the competition, his hair is that beautiful. 11/10
And last but not least, Ike’s boyfriend or whatever they are to each other: Soren. His hair is beautiful and his style makes it so that his hair stays in the middle of his back. It’s a great thing that his magic is wind-based, this allows for many opportunities to see his hair flow in the wind. Ike’s a lucky guy. 11/10
Now it’s time to do the girl’s version.

My Fire Emblem Rankings
I’ve had a few questions about my legitimate Fire Emblem opinions and thoughts, so I figured I’d write this up while I’m waiting for some things to process.
This is all just personal opinion, no shade is meant to be being thrown, and this probably won’t interest you too much. But, hey, here it is. I’ll list the Fire Emblems going from favorite to least favorite, and explain a little bit about why I feel that way.
Note that I won’t be including 1-5. I’m considering the remakes the “definitive” versions of 1/2/3, and I haven’t actually played the Jugdral games. I’m also not counting Heroes because it’s kinda hard to “judge”, but I do like it a lot and play on a pretty regular basis.
THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR EACH GAME!
#1. Awakening
Awakening is a game that gets a few things wrong but most things right. What don’t I like about it? I preferred the art style of the Tellius games. The maps aren’t very creative. Pair Up is a thematically cool mechanic that really doesn’t hold up to scrutiny and trivializes many encounters. The story is simple, with the exception of a couple twists, and Validar is a dull villain.
I like pretty much everything else. Awakening managed to be accessible to new fans and still provide a nice challenge for series veterans. There’s a diverse selection of characters who are all pretty viable, meaning you can use your favorites. Most characters have a lot of personality and depth to their lines, like with how they turned Frederick from a typical stoic Jagen-type into this goofy obsessive pyromaniac without making him a complete joke character.
The SpotPass characters are also a lovely addition if you adore the series like I do, and there’s just so much to do in this game, so it feels like a celebration of the franchise as a whole. If I’m trying to get someone into Fire Emblem, I will tell them to play Awakening.
Favorite Character: Gregor or Owain.
Least Favorite Character: Yarne
#2. New Mystery Of The Emblem
This is bias, yes, but I love New Mystery. I was really excited for this game, because I was pretty new to the fanbase when it was announced, and couldn’t wait for an English release. I waited, and waited, and waited, and...
Once I finished playing my JP copy I just lamented that we didn’t get to play this game here. I think that while Awakening reinvents Fire Emblem, New Mystery is sort of the pinnacle of “classic” FE. The game is just fun, the maps are diverse and challenging, and the combination of reclass and the sheer amount of playable characters gives it immense replay value.
The plot is nothing to really write home about, but after the vast wasteland of Shadow Dragon Plot, I really liked what was there. It’s nothing that’ll blow your mind, but there are some nice moments. I know a lot of people hate Kris, but I don’t mind them. I won’t go to bat for them being any kind of great character or vital addition to the story, but as a sounding board to give other Archanea characters a little personality, and a way to customize your own unit and give them all sorts of terrible hats, they work just fine. I also like the idea of Marth as a bit of a shell-shocked, reluctant king who relies on his friends to rise to greatness. It prevents him from being “too perfect”, like RD Ike. But I can see where people have problems with this.
I wish this were a more accessible entry in the series, because I think it has a little bit of something for every Fire Emblem fan.
Favorite Character: Honestly? I like Caeda and Ogma, they’re cool people.
Least Favorite Character: matthis is creepy and I hate him
3. Blazing Sword
Like a lot of people, Blazing Sword was my first exposure to the series (through an LP on Youtube for me), and it does a great job. You could honestly probably swap these first three around in any order, to be frank.
The balance in this one is a little wonky, and it goes on a little too long. But I like what it does with its extra time. You get some clever gaidens that mix up the formula, have room to use lots of units, and the sprite animations are just wonderful to watch. The three lords all bring something to the table, even though you’re honestly probably just going to play Hector Mode once you’ve unlocked it. Lyn has a story about claiming your birthright and using nobility to help people, Hector’s brash and boorish nature is offset as he learns how to be a better person on his journey (That scene with Matthew on the Dread Isle is great.), and Eliwood...exists.
With maps ranging from cramped and objective based to sprawling battlefields, there’s a lot of variety in gameplay and room for different units to shine. It’s also got some of the best supports in the series. It’s a must-play for any Fire Emblem fan.
Favorite: Hector is a good boy and a friend. Legault is also a surprisingly involved side-character with some great lines and dialogue with almost every Morph in the final map!
Least Favorite: Jaffar, because it’s hard to tell if I hate him more for killing Leila or ramming his face into the paladin in Battle Before Dawn and getting slaughtered so many times.
4. Path Of Radiance
I guess only the top 3 are getting thumbnails, sorry. PoR sticks with me because it tries a lot of new things and most of them work out. The bonus experience is a good system, I think this game does support unlocks better than any other, Laguz units are fun to use, and the conversion to pseudo-3D maps feels smooth and never gets in the way of gameplay.
There are issues, though. I’m not a fan of the way the full-body portraits look in the cutscenes of this game, biorhythm is silly, and that Bridge Map sure does Exist. The reason this isn’t breaking Top 3, though, is that I just never really got attached to the cast. Characters are a big part of Fire Emblem for me, and while there are some great ones in PoR, there are also several that feel very forgettable. The plot is also a little...iffy, because it’s all FANTASY RACISM and it feels like it’s trying to punch above its pay grade sometimes. Like, be honest, did you give a shit that you had to kill Jill’s dad? That character who showed up maybe once? The maps also tend to blend together, with a few notable exceptions (because they’re annoying, mostly).
In Minor Nitpick Town, the 3D cutscenes are hilariously goofy and the Trial characters have really awful unlock conditions.
Still, PoR is a very solid entry and I’d give it a hearty recommendation.
Favorite: Ranulf, probably.
Least Favorite: makalov shouldn’t have been recruitable
5. Sacred Stones
I balked a little at putting this one this low, like “Really? This is FIFTH?” But I guess that’s just a testament to how much I enjoy all these games. Like with the top three, you could probably swap this with PoR.
Sacred Stones gets a lot of shit for being “too easy”, and I don’t think that’s necessarily wrong, but I also don’t think it’s that big a deal. This game takes risks, but they’re good risks that frequently pay off. This was the ideal game for the Trainee classes to come in, because you can actually feasibly use them! The monsters add variation to the types of enemies you encounter! Split promotions are interesting tactical decisions that give the player more control over their personal experience!
There’s just...not a ton of substance to SS, though. The monsters, at heart, aren’t really interesting to fight. The game’s plot often feels like it’s on fast forward, and it ends before any real tension builds. The villains are, with the exception of Lyon, who’s great, mostly just cardboard cutouts of bad guy stereotypes. The postgame is mostly just grindy and once you’ve beaten the Tower or Ruins once, you’ll probably say “okay, I’m done!” Well, you aren’t, not if you want 100%! Get back in there and kill more Dracozombies to unlock your underleveled Druid!
If you really crave that “challenge” as an essential part of your FE experience, although I think SS is often made out to be easier than it really is, you can probably skip it. But for most fans, it’s not to be passed up.
Favorite: L’Arachel, of course.
Least Favorite: I usually forget Syrene is in the game until she appears.
6. Fates: Conquest
Yes, I’m dividing Fates into three games. Sue me. Conquest feels like the best of the Fates routes, because it’s creative. In... a lot of ways. The maps are creative. While some just amount to gimmicks, several are, in my opinion, series standouts. Chapter 9 is a Defense map that actually feels like a Defense map. You’ve got anti-siege weapons, you’re scrambling to keep the Hoshidans from flooding in, and when Takumi drains the water the whole dynamic of the map suddenly changes. It rules. To me, that map encompasses all the best parts of Conquest.
It’s too bad it’s still in Fates, though. Let’s get it out of the way: Plot Bad. But, unique to Conquest, I think, is a plot so utterly ridiculous and convoluted that it actually becomes actively enjoyable. This is a story where your cousin puts on a different colored costume to COMPLETELY FOOL your adoptive dad, who she reveals is actually a jelly monster, but cannot tell anyone else because of a terrible curse inflicted by the King Of The Jelly Monsters, so you organize an invasion of an entire country to unmask Jelly Dad by making him sit on the Super Special Chair that will reveal his gelatinous form. I love it, to be honest.
Otherwise my issues are mostly just the standard Fates Problems. The game tries to take what worked in Awakening and amp it up to 11, which ruins most of it. The child characters are unmemorable and the plot explanation is bafflingly nonsensical (BABY DIMENSIONS), the characters often feel like they’re just gimmicks that smash into eachother and then get married for some reason, and the game tries to be so many things at once that most of them feel half-assed or over-complicated.
Jelly King Dad though.
Favorite: Arthur cracks me up.
Least Favorite: Peri Peri Peri peri peri p e r i p e r i
7. Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia
Confession time. I still haven’t finished this one all the way. I’ve seen the ending, though.
Let’s get the problems out of the way first. The gameplay is not very fun. The map design delights in sticking you in poisonous swamps, slow and dreary deserts, or Nuibaba’s Abode, which I would personally say is the worst map in the series. While some of Awakening and Birthright’s maps feel lazy, most maps in this game feel like they were designed either just to frustrate you or with a series of random dice rolls that somehow plant a single Cavalier at the ass-end of nowhere and extend the map for three turns with zero rhyme or reason. Class balance is all over the place and you basically just want all the Dread Fighters possible, with a Cleric to summon more Dread Fighters. The dungeon crawling doesn’t add much, most of the game mechanics go woefully underexplained, and the voiced supports feel minimalist and shallow.
But when Echoes works? It really, really works. I don’t like playing it, but watching someone play Echoes is a treat. The game is bursting with personality thanks to some phenomenal voice acting, which leaves the story with some unforgettable moments, both comic (the boey scream) and dramatic (Berkut Loses His Shit). Even though the characters don’t have a lot of explicit backstory, their voices and conversations are so expressive that it’s easy to sort of form your own ideas about their personalities and lives. The art is some of the best in the series, and each portrait is expressive and well done. It’s clear that this remake had a lot of care put into it, and it produced some of the series best lords and a wonderful new villain in the sinister Berkut.
8. Radiant Dawn
A lot of good things from Path Of Radiance carry over to Radiant Dawn. Namely, the stuff I mentioned earlier, I won’t go into it all again. All of that is good, but the new additions and changes often don’t work.
The multiple viewpoints has a few cool moments, like facing down Ike and friends in 3-13 (with the greatest faceless NPC of all time on your side), but often just contributes to making the game way too long and making the characters often appear outright stupid or contradictory for the sake of moving the plot along. Remember when Micaiah, who spared one of the most vile people in FE history in Part 1, dumped flaming oil on a 13 year old girl and her guards in Part 3? Remember when Ranulf just walks up and tells you who the Black Knight is, ending a mystery that had been developed since the previous game with the dialogue equivalent of showing you a spoiler on the internet? Remember blood pacts?
The massive split in characters also makes some of them completely worthless. Never forget the sad case of Vika, who suddenly disappears and doesn’t return until almost the final chapter, still at her Part 1 level. Yikes.
I do enjoy the Finale maps a lot, however, and the final boss encounter is fairly memorable, though it does carry its own problem with Ike being basically hero worshipped by the entire cast, to the point where only he can strike down Ashera. I like Ike, but RD kind of feels like it’s forcing him down your throat sometimes.
Favorite: Out of the new characters, Nolan, probably?
Least Favorite: surprise it’s still makalov
9. Shadow Dragon
I’m sure this is bottoming out a lot of people’s lists, but let me make my case.
1. Reclass is cool and they introduced it in this.
2. Hardin’s turban.
3. The Prologue, where IS got to make new stuff, is a lot of fun and has personality.

Okay, so Shadow Dragon is disappointing. It’s a remake that did not change enough, and if the FE games were yogurt flavors, Shadow Dragon would be the batch they just forgot to put flavoring in. Everything, down to the graphics, is covered in this thin veneer of blandness, and it’s sort of a muddy march to the finale, so you can finally take down a villain who literally gets about four lines in the whole game.
The Gaiden chapters also feel like a rude prank. If you want to get at the fun maps with the interesting characters with good dialogue, you have to slaughter all of your friends on purpose! At least it’s in Shadow Dragon so you probably won’t like most of them anyway!
Favorite: The guy who calls Gordin “Gaggles”.
Least Favorite: surprise it’s still makalovmatthis
10. Binding Blade
I admit that this is bizarre placement. I just...don’t like Binding Blade. It’s mostly due to stat distribution in gameplay, honestly. The skill/luck formula in this one results in a lot of boss fights that are just two 40% characters whiffing on eachother for ages. Several of the maps are giant slogs, especially 14, but I don’t remember any in particular that I really enjoyed. The plot is okay, but not memorable. Idunn is a bit of a letdown encounter. Hector deserved better. To summarize, I guess I just don’t think this is a game that does anything that Blazing Sword didn’t do better. So I’m gonna play that one instead.
Favorite: Bors because of a terrible stupid inside joke I have with a friend.
Least Favorite: I don’t remember anyone I cared enough to dislike, really. Let’s go with Cath for having the worst recruitment for a Worse Chad.
11. Fates: Birthright
Remember all those cool things Conquest did? What if they didn’t?
Birthright!
While the story is still bad, it’s not nearly as funny-bad, although I do have to give props to the scene where Flora sets herself on fire and Jakob spends about a solid minute screaming out how pointless this is, echoing the player’s thoughts perfectly. The maps are mostly just stat-checks and open fields, and the answer to your problems often isn’t “make a better plan”, it’s “go grind a bit and then just roll through it”, especially on some late-game maps. Iago’s comes to mind, with the whole Entrap into Berzerker combo? Screw that.
Favorite: Azama is a treasure. On the NPC (in this route) side, Elise is a beacon of rationality and kindness. I sure hope nothing happens to h-Oh.
Least Favorite: I remember literally nothing about the personalities of Hana and Hinata so them, I guess.
12. Fates: Revelations
Do you remember when I said Shadow Dragon was like unflavored yogurt? What if all the flavorings got mixed into one batch? And then you add chocolate and cherries and sprinkles and nuts and caramel and parsley and cinnamon and more cherries and shaved ice and spaghetti and then you tell it to explain the plot of Fates. That’ll be 20 dollars.
Revelations actively harms the other two routes of the game by being the obvious “true route”, where nobody has to get hurt (except the best characters, r.i.p. Scarlet and Izana) and everything turns out just fine, negating any sort of moral ambiguity present! Anankos is a non-entity and a dull villain, and to add insult to injury, you don’t get to learn shit about him unless you buy the other DLC for this DLC that also decides to crib from Awakening and mess with some of the characters from that one. Almost every map has a bizarre gimmick that’s just weirdly cumbersome, and the amount of plot twists the game shoves at you in an attempt to explain EVERYTHING is just exhausting. You can play as any character in the Fates package (almost, double r.i.p. Izana) but the balance is tossed out the window to the point where once Niles and Odin come crawling in, they’re nigh-unusable in their joining chapter.
It doesn’t feel like any part of it really comes together.
Favorite: not this
Least Favorite: Thinking about what else I could have bought with those 20 dollars.

Sorry if I dissed your favorite, but if it helps, know that I can see why someone would enjoy any game in the series, even my least favorites. Also, know that I’m an idiot on the internet and that my opinion doesn’t have to impact what you enjoy! Just love the games you love, I’ll stick with mine, and we’re cool!
