[Repost] Creation - Abby
Tumblr media
Part of this set of WIP Wednesday
Wanted to put this batch out once the main post posted in time for Vincent's birthday, so here's this one again!
Raw, unedited writing, Vincent pushing away Leonardo's hand made me feel a certain way during my run of Vincent's route and now I'm writing that 'certain way' feel out, mostly fluff otherwise, Leonardo does say cavolo tho, if that's a warning.
-----
Leonardo stood in the doorway of Vincent's room, sunlight pouring into the room, but there was something else in the room that could rival the sun in brightness and warmth.
Vincent's back was to him, his apron tied loosely around his torso. His feet were planted firmly on the floor as he sat on his stool. And if that had been the only thing of note, he might have left, to leave a fellow artist to his creation devices.
But the second set of feet, dangling between Vincent's, and a smaller hand holding onto a paintbrush in his, had the older vampire smiling with affection.
He remembered the day he had found Abby struggling to make her lines looser and how he had given her some tips, as an artist, but also to help with her general demeanor. Scrunched up like a nervous kitten wouldn't help her in the long run and he had hoped the message got across when he was teaching her.
Now, it seemed it was Vincent's turn to help her, much closer to her than he had been, sitting in his lap. Both of them were growing bolder, he thought. A natural process for Abby as she was overcoming her timidity, but she wasn't the only one growing bold. Leonardo looked at his hand, remembering when he had attempted to pat her head, something he had done countless times to encourage the little cara before, only for Vincent's hand to stop him, pushing him away from her not unlike a lover would protect his love from unwarranted advances.
He chuckled and pushed away from the door frame, closing the door fully behind him. He also couldn't help but see Vincent's hand tightening on Abby's thigh, a blue eye briefly glancing directly at him for a split second before returning his attention back to the painting session.
Even for all of his long life, Leonardo felt the briefest of chills from that single look and started walking away, lighting his cigarillo as he walked away.
"Cavolo…" he whispered, shaking his shoulders of their tension.

Doctor Who's Magnum Opus
TW: Mention of suicide.
It's Vincent and the Doctor. This is not up for debate, I am right. This is a hill I will die on. Vincent and The Doctor is the best 45 minutes of television ever put to screen.
But this post isn't only to gush, this post is to try and explain why the episode has such an emotional impact.
But I want to stress this: If you haven't already watched this episode, please do. You don't need to have watched Doctor Who before, pop culture osmosis has definitely filled you in on everything you need to know. Please give it a go.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
So, first up is the scene in which we meet Vincent. Its short, and the opening of the episode, but it's this shot:
Tumblr media
I am firmly of the belief that character introductions are some of the most important scenes in a story, and Van Gogh has a fascinating introduction. The opening few seconds give you the most important details of this new character, and it's his eyes. This episode is about how Vincent sees the world.
But the character introduction doesn't stop there. Still before the opening credits, the story starts again, this time in an art gallery with various folks talking about this historical painter. We get a child saying the following:
"He was the doctor who took care of Van Gogh when he started to go mad."
Tumblr media
Contrast this with Bill Nighy's character, Dr. Black, fanboying over Vincent, and we get the rest of this story explained to us. This is also a story about how the world sees Vincent.
Then we get Vincent's actual introduction, the point where our protagonists meet, and it is... understated.
Tumblr media
There's no ceremony about it, it just happens quietly. But there's something about Vincent's actions that I want to point out. He refuses help.
"You don't know three things. One, I pay for my own drinks thank you. Two, nobody ever buys any of my paintings or they'll be laughed out of town, so if you want to stay in town, I suggest you keep your cash to yourself. And three, your friend's cute."
I cannot understate how phenomenal of a line this is. It establishes lore, of course, but it also establishes Vincent's personality. This is a man who is down on his luck but cannot accept help. This is a man who is spiralling but refuses to be defended, justifying it as protecting someone else's honour.
At this point, the world sees Vincent in the same way he sees himself. He's mad, and an awful artist.
Tumblr media
But I know what scene you are waiting for me to mention. So here it is. Vincent in the gallery. That panoramic shot and the conversation with Bill Nighy.
Tumblr media
And again, its understated. On the surface of it, this is boring. Its just Vincent's face and some paintings and some sweet music. Bill Nighy doesn't even say anything we haven't heard him say before in this same episode. So why is it so influential?
Of course, one highlight is Tonny Curran's acting and how the camera frames it. In a story like this, the best special effect you can have is just a close-up of an actor earning their paycheck and then some. There is no loud weeping or ugly crying, this is so subtle, and so masterfully acted.
The other significant element is the context. I mentioned earlier that this episode is the contrast between how Vincent and the world saw each other. And up until now, Vincent and the world have been on the same page, but it's only here that the two views differ so much. Finally, Vincent is in a world where people unironically love his creations, where someone can fanboy over him without a care of being chased off, that's why this has such an effect. Not because of what it says, but because of what it does.
Tumblr media
But there's one more scene that I want to mention.
Vincent still commits suicide. They don't save him. I don't need to explain why that is heart-wrenching. But this final scene unpacks that and presents the following idea:
"Every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant."
No, they didn't save Vincent. You can't do that in 45 minutes. But they did make a difference. They gave a man in pain some respite hope for the future, they made his life just that little bit better. And that's all anyone can ask to do.

💕 self-love time! talk about which ones of YOUR creations (edits, artworks, fanfics) you like the most then send to other creators to do the same 💕
AHHHHHHHH Hi🥰🥰🥰
Oh goodness, probably college au? I remember when I actually first started to post about it, I was so excited to share so many thoughts and ideas and it really grew into this complex story that I’m almost worried I won’t be able to give Justice too. Obviously it’s not published yet, I’ve hit a wall with writers block but hopefully I’ll get back in there before interest is lost. College au has been a comfort for me for a while, even if I’m not writing it, I’m thinking about it constantly.
As for characters? Vax. I love Venus and Vincent and Vex, but Vax is my first love and always will be. I think it’s because he was the first V I ever made and was actually able to play the game with, I heard him crying over Jackie and telling Vik how scared he was, fighting Johnny. Hearing a raw emotion like that connected me with him more than I thought it would. That’s dramatic I know but it made me want to give him a happy ending, a happy ending with his friends and Kerry and Johnny. Vax also has more of me then I realized in him, with his anxiety and really no interest in sex until he met someone he felt comfortable with. I made something I was proud of when I started writing for Cyberpunk.
I wish I could share a fic I was proud of but if I could go back and rewrite them I would😭 I was still learning about the fandom and game when I wrote them and my V didn’t even have a name yet so yeah.

HBD GRIMSLEYYYYYY 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 u can use this ask to talk about ur blorbo of ur choosing if u want. I HOPE TODAYS GOOD TO U
TY VIXEN MY BELOVED!!! <3 i hope it's good to me too, we're watching advent children w/ my mom and that will be. An Experience
Anyway! i believe i shall talk about my current on-the-mind meowmeow, mr. vincent fowler who is living in my mind rent free because he's my focus for miqomarch. here he is!
Tumblr media
i originally made him because i wanted a character in xiv to sexualize (sorry) because my main wol is a BABY teenager. and i wanted to play with mods. but then i got attached and now vincent makes me feel shrimp emotions
he's got like. four different verses but the main one i focus on is wol!vincent because Ough. he's a sharlayan moonkeeper miqo who had a special interest in primals as a kid and got scolded, put down and bullied for it for his entire childhood and he has a bit of a complex about it. when the sharlayan exodus happened (when vincent was 12), he broke into the great gubal library and stole a bunch of books on primals and ran off into dravania/coerthas in the middle of winter :^)
he got picked up by a young estinien and accidentally weaseled his way into becoming estinien's adopted younger brother. estinien renamed him to keep him from standing out as much around ishgardians so he just white-ified his name (vincent was originally named vincen'to fawhra. and estinien went "hhmmm how about vincent fowler". really creative estinien thanks). and then vincent joined the dragoons and, at 17, accidentally became the second azure dragoon. which he did not want! he became a dragoon as a cover for studying summoning/primals and then he got too good at it. so he wasn't exactly thrilled and got shoved into a position of power WHICH LED TO:
he got sent off to fight garuda alone when the ixal summoned her because the ishgardians wanted him dead, and because vincent's azem was the one who created her and risked a lot to save her from being destroyed as a creation, she recognized his soul and let him kill her to spare him. and because of the way smn works (yknow, have to have killed the primal to summon it!) suddenly vincent found himself able to just. summon her. he can't summon any of the other primals it's just her. they're best friends but they act like they hate each other and they make me cry so so much (it's the red-string-of-fate i-can't-let-you-go-even-though-i-can't-remember-why AGONY)
also he was childhood friends with g'raha and y'shtola but obviously lost contact when he ran away. g'raha had a kid crush on him that he never really got rid of and long story short, they end up together after shb but not without like, a LOT of agony
Tumblr media
guys who make me really, really insane. vinraha my friends my meowmeows. i don't want to talk too much about their stuff because that's like. this reply is getting so fucking long but just know that they make me feel like screaming
but yeah. he's a weird drg/smn/drk combo where a lot of his attacks/abilities utilize garuda in some way. i call him a windcaller :)
UHHHH other than that, he's pretty and a little bit of a whore and extremely loyal to a fault and he puts on a scary face until you talk to him for like 5 minutes and realize he's actually very sweet. he gives good hugs and has wide shoulders and he's beefy and i want to kiss him on the face.
OH AND LAST THING: he and sidurgu had/have a weird relationship where they had a one night stand one time and sid thinks about it all the time and vincent never thinks about it at all. sid is still hopelessly in love with him despite the fact that it's been years. rielle likes vincent more than sid and also bullies sid about still being Like That with vincent. they permanently have weird sexual tension and also vaguely don't get along and it is so fucking funny to me. sid sees vincent showing raha around ishgard and vincent's making cat kissy eyes at raha and sid's like Oh. God Dammit. i think it's funny when grown ass men are weird like this.
anyway that is all <3 hope you enjoyed my ted talk and ty again for letting me talk about my blorbo

Vincent hasn’t called him to stand since the time with Felice, although there have been multiple nights where Simon has slept over. He supposes that while one can assume, it’s not actually evident that he and Simon had sex during those times (even though they definitely have). There was no mistaking the way they’d left early the night before, however. No mistaking the darkened bruise on Wille’s neck. They’ve already received some smirks from the boys around them, cheekily asking them if they’d had a goodnight.

Some thoughts about Kristina:
We know she grew up as crown princess, so obviously she grew up with all the pressures, but as another layer she would be the first crown princess of Sweden ever. The change to the law of succession making the heir first born child regardless of gender was made in the 80s, so it would have applied when her dad was growing up. If she didn’t have any brothers there’s a chance it might have been changed specifically for her, which adds a whole other layer of pressure. Then, there’s the misogyny aspect of it, where there’s an idea that a woman would make a weaker ruler because of her emotions/ that they would be too emotional to leave. She’s probably had to intentionally tamper down any feelings so people would respect her as a leader and not question her decisions.
She’s also a grieving mother, she is clearly affected by Erik’s loss, but despite losing her son she still has to be the fave of the monarchy. She might be pushing down her emotions even further because if she let’s herself fear all that grief will bumble to the surface. If she lets herself show too much emotion others might question her ability to rule. Her way of protecting herself was to harden and thats what shes trying to do with Wille because its the only way she knows how.
I think she does truly care about Wille but her entire life has been warped by the crown and the pressures of the role, and she’s never really been challenged to unlearn that. In her mind, she’s doing what’s best for him. It doesn’t excuse the ways she’s hurt wille but there’s more nuance to it. She’s also a victim of the weight of the crown, and she’s passing along that weight and trauma to Wille because she doesn’t know any different.

FF7Rebirth Wishlist
- Sephiroth killing Claudia. I look forward to seeing Nibelheim burn in general, but I want the pain of Cloud seeing his mother die.
- Sephiroth’s revelation... just fucking hell, the entire Nibelheim flashback. I want it. NOW.
- Aerith and Sephiroth interacting. Zack and Sephiroth interacting. But especially the former, I really love their life/death dynamic and I want to see more of them. Apparently the motion capture actors had a session together that lasted hours, so here’s hoping.
- Fuck it, more Sephiroth in general. Pre-Nibel Seph is nice but I prefer it when he’s a creep. I REVEL IN HIS SCENES.
- Vincent Valentine! I really want to see Rebirth’s take on him, and how he’ll be incorporated into the story (I suspect he’ll have a bigger role than in the OG since he won’t be optional)
- LUCRECIA. PLEASE. Please let her and Sephiroth interact PLEASE (though this might be more a part 3 thing). I think there was a dev interview a while back where they said Sephiroth would be important in part 2, so I’m hoping his backstory will be a focus and there will be set ups for him interacting with those involved in his creation.
- Hojo. On the beach. Just... Hojo. I want more of the mad scientist.
- THE REUNION SEQUENCE.
- More violence. And blood. Give me the blood. NOW.
- More DEATH. I despise that the compilation brought Tseng and Rufus back to life, retconning what had clearly been their deaths in the original game (especially the latter, Tseng may have had a chance of survival but Rufus coming back was ridiculous). Don’t be afraid to kill off a character here or there.
- Aerith’s fate... I don’t want her to die, surprisingly. But I still want some kind of loss.
- The lowest emotional point of every character (except Sephiroth who’s on the way to succeeding). Ending on the Northern Crater scene would be perfect for this, and I think they will considering the fact that there’ll be three games.
- THE MUSIC!!!!!! It was top notch in Remake and I expect it’ll be the same in Rebirth. I look forward to Cosmo Canyon, Wutai, Cid’s theme, hopefully more Jenova themes, and anything involving Sephiroth’s leitmotifs. Also, this is very much a part 3 thing but I am dying to hear Birth of a God. ALSO THE MAIN THEME!!!

Brushstrokes of Expression: Unveiling the Power of Painting Titles
Tumblr media
In the vast and colorful world of art, the power of a painting lies not just in the vibrant brushstrokes that dance across the canvas but also in the thoughtful titles that artists bestow upon their creations. These titles serve as the silent whispers that invite viewers into a deeper understanding, guiding them through the artists' minds and hearts. "Brushstrokes of Expression: Unveiling the Power of Painting Titles" dives into the enchanting relationship between an artwork’s visual journey and its titular compass, revealing how these elements combine to shape our interpretation and appreciation of art. The Gateway to the Artist’s Soul Imagine standing before a captivating piece, its hues and textures weaving a tale of unspoken emotions. Now, picture encountering its title—a few choice words that suddenly illuminate the artwork's essence, offering a glimpse into the artist’s soul. Titles are often the bridge connecting the viewer to the abstract realm of feelings and thoughts that the artist navigates. They are the whispered introductions that ground the floating interpretations of color and form into a narrative that resonates on a deeply personal level. Creating an Emotional Resonance A well-chosen title has the power to amplify the emotional impact of a painting. It can evoke a sense of curiosity, nostalgia, or even discomfort, prompting a deeper engagement with the artwork. Titles like Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night or Edvard Munch’s The Scream instantly evoke imagery and emotion even before the canvas is in view. These titles work in harmony with the artworks to amplify their emotional resonance, creating a memorable experience that lingers long after the viewer has looked away. The Unspoken Dialogue Titles also serve as the starting point of an unspoken dialogue between the artist and the audience. They act as the question to which the painting is the answer, or perhaps the clue to unraveling the visual enigma before us. This silent conversation is a dance of interpretation, where each viewer brings their own experiences and emotions to complete the narrative that the artist has initiated with their chosen title. SEO Considerations for Art Enthusiasts For individuals keen on delving deeper into the fascinating world of painting titles and their profound impact, leveraging search engines like Google can offer rich insights. Utilizing keywords such as “meaningful painting titles,” “artwork interpretation,” or “emotional resonance in art” can guide enthusiasts to scholarly articles, artist interviews, and virtual galleries. These resources not only enrich one’s understanding but also shine a spotlight on how artists masterfully use titles as a conduit for expression and connection. A Call to Explore The art of naming a painting is as intricate and nuanced as the act of painting itself. As we venture through galleries, either physically or virtually, let us not overlook the titles accompanying each piece. They are not mere labels but expressive keys unlocking deeper dimensions of appreciation and understanding. In the brushstrokes of expression, painting titles are the subtle yet powerful guides that lead us into the artist's envisioned world, making our journey through art both more meaningful and enchanting. As we continue to explore the vast landscapes of visual art, remember that the title of a painting is not just a footnote but a whisper from the artist’s soul. It invites us into a realm where colors, textures, and words unite to tell a story deeper than the canvas alone. So, the next time you encounter a piece that moves you, take a moment to reflect on its title and discover the layers of meaning it unveils. In the intersection of visual and verbal expression lies the true power of painting titles, a testament to the unending dialogue between the creator, the creation, and the observer. AI and Denny Ja Technology: Revealing the Secret Behind the Work of the Maestro
The presence of artificial intelligence technology (AI) has changed various aspects of life, including in the field of arts and creative works. One of the figures involved in the exploration and use of AI in art is Denny JA, an artist and researcher in the field of AI. Denny JA has succeeded in uncovering the secrets behind the works of the maestro through AI technology that he developed. AI, or artificial intelligence, is a technology that refers to the ability of the machine to imitate human intelligence. AI allows machines to carry out tasks that require thinking, understanding and decision making as well as humans. In the context of art, AI can be used to create works of art based on certain patterns, styles, or themes in the works of maestro. Denny JA has developed an AI system that has the ability to analyze and understand art. By using the AI technology he developed, Denny Ja was able to uncover the secrets behind the works of maestro, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso. The AI system developed by Denny Ja can analyze the pattern and style of the artwork, as well as identify the key elements that make these works so valuable and influential. Through an analysis conducted by the AI system, Denny Ja can extract information and knowledge in the works of maestro. This information can then be used to produce new works of art inspired by these works. Denny Ja uses this approach to create unique and original works of art, but still has the same influence and beauty as the works of the maestro. The use of AI technology in art does not only allow the creation of new artwork, but can also help in learning and understanding existing works. Denny Ja uses the AI system that he developed to analyze and interpret the works of art. Thus, we can learn more about the techniques, styles, and meanings that exist in the works of maestro. In addition, Denny Ja also uses AI technology to analyze responses and responses to artwork. Through this analysis, Denny Ja can understand how the artwork affects human emotions, perceptions, and experiences. This information can be used to improve observers' experience in enjoying artwork, as well as helping artists in creating stronger and impact works. For art maestro, the use of AI technology in art can be considered a threat or challenge. However, Denny Ja proves that the use of AI technology can also be an opportunity and source of inspiration. By revealing the secrets behind the works of maestro, Denny Ja helps us to better appreciate and understand these works, as well as enrich and expand the world of art. In conclusion, the use of AI technology in art has opened the door for broader exploration and experiments. Through the development of an intelligent AI system, as did Denny Ja, we can reveal the secrets behind the works of the maestro and create new and original new artwork. In the world of art that continues to develop and change, AI technology brings unlimited potential to inspire and change the way we see and appreciate the work of art.

#Movist guide movie
This is definitely a documentary primarily for the diehard fans, but even a casual listener can enjoy bearing witness to such a cool creative process. It's a fascinating look at a truly collaborative process between an artist and her fans, showing how songs were written with their help over Instagram Live, and also presents a raw account of Charli's struggles with anxiety. Told largely through self-taped footage, Alone Together follows the inception, creation, and release of one of the more unique projects to come out of the pandemic: Charli's near-perfect 2020 album How I'm Feeling Now. It might be a little too soon to relive early quarantine days, but it's different when you do it through the eyes of one of our greatest (and somehow still underrated) pop stars - in this case, Charli XCX. Tim Surette įor fans of: Spy jinx, movies that don't require brain activityĬharli XCX: Alone Together Greenwich Entertainmentĭirector: Bradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler Love it or hate it, no reaction would surprise me from this truly original and daring film. And just when you think it's gone entirely off the rails, it becomes an emotional and thought-provoking film about character relationships. From there, Titane is a riveting and savage ride as shocking as it is unpredictable (you'll never think of airport bathroom sinks the same way again). The French-Belgian film defies genre but spends lots of time in almost all of them - horror, science-fiction, drama, comedy - as it follows a model with a titanium plate in her head that she got after a car crash when she was young at car shows. But I'm glad it did because Titane is absolutely amazing in the most primal sense of the word. Given its everything, I have no idea how Titane became the winner of the 2021 Palme d'Or, the top prize at the Cannes International Film Festival. Stars: Agathe Rousselle, Vincent Lindon, a dope Cadillac Uh oh! Deep Water was supposed to get a theatrical release in 2020, but now it's going directly to Hulu with less fanfare than it deserves - though straight-to-streaming may end up being the best thing for it.
#Movist guide movie
Deep Water stars Ana de Armas and Gone Girl mode Ben Affleck, who started a relationship when the movie was shooting in 2019 and have since broken up, as a married couple who play twisted psychosexual mind games with each other, and then people around them start turning up dead. Now that streaming is creating a demand for erotic thrillers again, Lyne is back like he never went away. His last one was 2002's Unfaithful, which came out right at the end of the erotic thriller's period of commercial viability. This is the first film from director Adrian Lyne ( Fatal Attraction), one of the central figures of the erotic thriller subgenre, in 20 years. Allison Picurro įor fans of: Saving the environment, guilt, beautiful shots of places you can't goĪna de Armas and Ben Affleck, Deep Water Claire Folger/20th Century Studios It's likely the only movie you'll see this year that has jokes about Quibi, My Cousin Vinny, and Yolanda Hadid. Kim Booster stars as Noah, the Elizabeth Bennett role, and Bowen Yang plays his best friend Howie, the Jane Bennett the film hits all the Austenian beats regarding class and social status, but Kim Booster's observations about being gay and Asian-American gives such a well-trodden story an updated perspective. Joel Kim Booster writes and stars in this hilarious, heartbreaking, and horny adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, which reimagines one of Jane Austen's most famous novels as a gay romantic comedy set on New York's Fire Island. Stars: Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, Conrad Ricamora, Margaret Cho, Matt Rogers Margaret Cho, Tomás Matos, Bowen Yang, Joel Kim Booster, and Matt Rogers, Fire Island Jeong Park/Searchlight That means this list will look a little different from the other ones out there, as we're focusing on Hulu originals, new arrivals to Hulu, films that aren't streaming anywhere but Hulu, and our own personal favorites. This list isn't just about the absolute best movies of all time that critics tell you are good it's about the best movies to watch on Hulu right now. And if you're trying to keep summer going even though it's officially September, might we recommend Fire Island, Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang's summery Pride and Prejudice-inspired rom-com? There's a lot here to keep you busy for a while. It joins movies like Prey, which stars Amber Midthunder as a woman going up against the Predator himself the maternity crisis documentary Aftershock  and Joey King's fun and silly The Princess. The latest addition to our list of recommendations for the best movies to watch on Hulu right now is Jerrod Carmichael's directorial debut, the very dark buddy comedy On the Count of Three, which he also stars in alongside Christopher Abbott.

36: Define Art.
66: What is your heritage?
70: Are you the kind of friend you would want to have as a friend?
78: Can insanity bring on more creativity?
82: What is your favourite word?
Apologies in advance, this one is going to be kind of long and I tried to keep the answers as short and sweet as I could manage. But, it was hard for me to do. I like to overthink. :/
36. Define Art.
Self expression via outlets of varying types of communication and mediums (visual or verbal) based on a collective of emotions, theologies, philosophies, morals, personal experiences and life perceptions all as a continuing response to the tangible and intangible within the earthly process of human existence and projection regarding the impact of the surrounding universe. :)
A less intense answer: I am a creation creating in the world as a response to being created within the universe. 💖
66. What is your heritage?
Hungarian, predominantly as it exists on both my mother and father’s side. Otherwise, with little pieces of other various cultures impacting me like German, Italian and French. They’re not the only cultures in my family, but examples of ones that impact me most specifically.
My maternal grandfather for example on the other points was Italian and my mother spent some of her teen years in Italy with him and I’ve got to experience specifics like classical art and cuisine through both of them as a result of that part of her upbringing.
70. Are you the kind of friend you would want to have as a friend?
I am going to answer this based off of my own priorities of what qualities I look for in a friend as well as from the perspective of the standards I look for in others in general: Mostly, yes.
I try to uphold myself to the morals and ethics I would seek in other people as friend’s. I think for the positive, I would be a loyal friend who would motivate me to better myself.
I think I would be my own tough love friend. I would never tell myself what I want to hear, but what I would need to hear. If I had to observe anything negative, I would say I would need to balance not getting so critical. I think if I don’t, I could see how I would annoy myself as a friend, too. I have a bad habit of over-analyzing that leads to anxiety attacks and can imagine at my most insufferable that stresses other people out. I would be in denial to think otherwise.
78: Can insanity bring on more creativity?
It’s going to vary for every person. I don’t think it sways one way or the other. Some of the most imaginative and creative people within history suffered from madness.
Madness can inspire people to cope through outlets of art, music, writing, etc. Edgar Allan Poe, Edvard Munch, Vincent Van Gogh, Ozzy Osborne, Kurt Cobain, Amy Whinehouse...all of these people have suffered from a symptom or condition impacting their overall mental well-being that often got them villified as ‘mad’ by conventional society.
However, it’s really going to depend on the person’s life experiences and how much they are willing to cope through healthy over toxic outlets. Some people fall too far deeply into a specific type of madness that they can be left feeling unmotivated or stagnated by it, too.
82. What is your favourite word?
I have many as I love phonaesthetics and love learning multiple languages and intend to know as many as I can over time.
Words that are pleasing to the ear are called euphonious and this is my small example list of words I consider to fall under that category:
amour, charmante, stygian, abyss, void, aster, sehnsucht, nacht, night, iridescent, desirous, effervescent, luminous, shimmer, melancholy, lascivious, ardent, eternal, ephemeral, passion, seduce, phantasmagoria, celestial, ethereal, veil, lunar, majesty, hold, tündér, sárkány, róka, farkas, varázslat, sötét, éjszaka, fekete, zene, szeretet, etc.
Also, if you are wondering many of the latter words are examples of my favorite Hungarian/Magyar words. Hold is Hungarian for Moon. :)

Ikemen Vampire and their Godly parents
Inspired by Percy Jackson.
Mozart: Apollo
Son of the God of light, of sun, of music, of truth, of poetry, and arts. May not be a leader but set trends. I will start with the most obvious fact and that is Mozart’s talent for music, as all of us know Apollo’s children are exceptional for the arts in general. Mozart is not someone that tends to laugh frequently but as a good children of Apollo, you can hear the sound of what it could be beautiful Bells when he does, and a smile as warm as the sun. Because of his prolonged time on practicing he sometimes has little to none sunlight, that makes him really moody (more than he already is) so taking some walks or playing with Schelm in the garden are necessary for his health even if he claims to not need it.
Not all of Apollo’s children are blond, some of them have physical traits that are related to the sun such as freckles, warm skin subtones, and even if their hair is black if you see it in the sun light you can see a golden or brownish reflection on their hair, in Mozart’s case if we see carefully there’s also warm subtones such as beige, and pink :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While other white haired characters have cold undertones like blue:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of Mozart’s incredible fair skin it’s easy for him to get freckles. Apollo’s children are lie detectors, as they say, you cannot cover the sun with your thumb, Mozart knows from miles away when someone is lying.
Apollo’s children are scary when they get mad, be aware of what they could do when they lose control, just like Mozart, it may seem like he’s always angry but he actually isn’t, when he’s angry you will know.
Apollo’s kids are naturally over dramatic, they turn everything into inspiration for music, plays, etc. remember that time when Mozart said that dry things like cookies are his “worst enemy”? Just because Marie Antoinette gave him a bunch of them, he didn’t know what to do and decided it was a good idea to stuff everything in his mouth...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To what MC finished laughing because ... bruh 😂
Isaac: Athena
Goddess of wisdom, handicraft, knowledge and warfare. Children of Athena are gifted with a sharp and brilliant mind. Do I have to say more ? Isaac is a genius, he has an incredible hunger for knowledge, and curiosity that makes him discover the most incredible things in this world. Children of Athena enjoy reading a good book and most of the time you can see them lost in their thoughts.
We know that Athena’s children can be street smart and book smart, the majority likes to be street smart since they already have a facility to keep info from books, but in the case of our apple boy he’s chosen to be book smart, this kind of children tend to have difficulties to relate to others and create deep bonds since their brilliant minds make them feel detached from the world that surrounds them.
Napoleon : Zeus
Charismatic
Natural leaders
Children of Zeus are the leaders struggling with the pressure of being leaders. Since they are such a reliable people, their friends usually seek for them when they need help, maybe they are not as wise as a child of Athena, but their empathy makes them good advisers too. They’re strong and resilient.
Serious but yet humorous
Assertive
Children of Zeus are prideful, they like to tease others but when the tables turn they don’t really know how to react (not like they are doormats but more like in a teasing way something like pikachu face: “you ... you just teased the son of the lightening.. right in front of my salad” that kind of reaction. It’s actually kind of cute 😂
They can be flighty or warm, depends of the person they are dealing with and their mood.
Physically traits could be grey, blue or in some cases green eyes. Children of Zeus usually have gray hairs since a young age.
Arthur: Dionysus
God of wine, madness, ecstasy and theatre
Children of Dionysus are sociable, charismatic and the life of the party. The ones with all the connections. They’re the friend that everyone references when they say ‘I know a guy’ and we all know that Arthur knows or at least recognizes a lot of faces in Paris.
Children of Dionysus are not only party people, they are really clever too, people usually don’t give them credit for how smart they really are, but they prefer to keep that intelligence hidden ‘cause they don’t want to intimidate anyone, after all the party needs to continue !
They are the ones you can always count on to have a good time. The best telling jokes and reading the atmosphere of a room. they are the ones you call when you’re upset and just want to forget about reality for a night.
Stubborn, determined and chaotic nature.
Most of Dionysus children are empaths, that’s how they can feel the mood so well and make everyone have a good time, nevertheless if they don’t have a control over this ability it can be bad for their health, appropriating other people's problems or feeling guilty if they cannot help their friends as a good “host” would do.
Another thing, Arthur really seems to enjoy alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, etc. besides coffee.
Talking about physical traits Dionysus children rock semi long hair, this chill and laid back appearance is the signature of the god of party and wine. Even when they wear formal clothes you can see this relaxed look on them.
I remember one time I read a post where it said that Dionysus children often have the nicest shoes in the room (idk why? 😂) BUT DUDE that’s true, there was also other post where you guys were talking about who had the best taste in shoes and guess who was one of the best fashionistas 👌👌😂
Also, olive undertones, in hair, skin, etc. if we see Arthur’s hair for example, sometimes it doesn’t appear to be entirely blue, it also has olive undertones:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jean: Hades
God of the underworld
Talking about children of hades we can see that they are not only the “quiet ones” but also people with a sharp intuition. They observe everything and everyone, quietly. Tend to hold grudges and feel out of place, they stay a lot of time inside their heads and because of this children of hades usually have a hard time finding their “meaning in life” or “their place in this world”. Since they are deep they have a difficult time relating to others, meanwhile everyone is talking about the trends of the year, children of Hades are in other Chanel .
They like to be by their own, or maybe with someone that actually understands them.
I think most of the time people only focus on their “dark personality” and forget to appreciate other traits like the incredible willpower that they have to achieve anything that attracts their attention.
Physically talking, as we all know, children of Hades have dark tones in their hair, eyes and skin tone. There’s something cold in their appearance that makes them look intimidating and mysterious
Vincent : Apollo
Do I really need to explain this one ? 😂😂
I will just cover some facts that relate to Apollo’s children since Vincent is like the PERFECT example of what is being an Apollo’s child.
I think Vincent has a BIG potential to learn any instrument that he likes, also archery but I doubt it since he wouldn’t like to hurt anyone.
Is easy for Children of Apollo to tan, just imagine our angel with a beautiful sexy tan 🙌🏻😫✨
EMBODIMENT OF LIGHT
also, Apollo’s children are healers, and Vincent wants not only to help but if possible heal everyone’s suffer, as we can see in his route, he wants to help MC with her anxiety to return to her time nevertheless he’s never too pushy and waits until MC feels prepared to open up to him.
Apollo’s children are people pleasers, in a mini drama, Vicent tells Leonardo that if there was a girl in the mansion he wouldn’t know how to behave, since he only wants to give a good impression.
Leonardo : Hephaestus
Children of Hephaestus , Their minds are constantly working on something and their ideas running wild.
They have SO many ideas that they have dozens of project running AT THE SAME TIME, they can even compete with children of Athena.
Some of this children may not be geniuses but out of their curiosity and hunger for knowledge is because they can become worthy opponents to the other god or goddesses children.
Masters on none, but master of many.
They also got that freaking cheeky smile of their father.
Intelligent, good looking and good jokes.
Physically talking children of Hephaestus have strength in their upper body, just like their father, they have enough strength in their hands, arms and back to carry or forge any metal and turn it into a weapon (or any creation but you get me) what usually makes them have (on males) big shoulders or backs and in females, they have shorter but stronger fingers.
Comte : Aphrodite
Who was the one that fell in love in the middle of war ????
YUP this guy ☝️
Children of Aphrodite are hopeless romantic, they find beauty and love in the darkest places and times. They are the ones that you go for advice (not the kind of advice you would go to Athena, but one that helps your heart to find a solution).
They like luxury and aesthetic stuff, Comte with all the money that he has could be living his life like Leo, relaxing, giving little attention to appearances, etc. BUT NO
DADDY COMTE NEEDS TO WEAR HIS DIOR PAJAMAS AND RELAX IN A ROMAN BATH THANK YOU. It’s not like he’s superficial, but he just likes to pamper himself.
Children of Aphrodite have charm speak, Idk you but every time Comte speaks is like velvet for my ears. Most of the time people only see Aphrodite’s children as superficial, not so intelligent and unnecessary at battle but they are dead wrong, actually they are really observant and can be manipulative since they understand and almost feel others people emotions and intentions.
Even though their mother is the Goddess of Love, they can hide their emotions pretty well
It is known that Aphrodite’s children can speak fluently French and Oh look at that Comte is French, coincidence ? I DONT THINK SO.
Theo: Ares
God of war
Children of Ares are topically seen as this really short-tempered guy /girl but there’s more about them. I’m gonna start with the basic personality traits, Children of Ares are stubborn as hell, does it reminds you of Theo ? 😅 they are also really protective of those they love, it may not appear like it but they don’t like injustice, so when they see someone that’s being a jerk they fight with everything they got, sometimes they exaggerate tho.
HATES GOSSIP they like to say thing straight to the point and don’t have filter, sometimes they may seem rude but they are just saying the truth
Doesn’t take shit from anyone
Determinant and never gives up, they also give (its rare but they do) advices when they see you really struggling with something, an example of this could be when (in Leo’s route) MC had a hard time deciding what to choose between staying in 19th century France or coming back to her time with Leo, to what Theo noticed her struggling and gave her a brief but nice advice.
HARD ON THE OUTSIDE SOFT ON THE INSIDE
Children of Ares are aware that they intimidate their siblings, that’s why they become silent and prefer to stay in their cabin, but if you want them to open up to you, a nice smile and kind personality would be a great combo to go with them.
Children of Ares are really intelligent, after all their father is also a strategist.
Shakespeare: Hades
Again ... do I have to explain this one ? 😂
Shakespeare is deep af. Children of Hades see the deepest and darkest things in life, that’s why they tend to feel depressed, but because of that they also can see the brightest parts. This contrast usually is embodied in an artistic way, it may be in plays, dancing, singing, stories, etc.
The goth friend
Children of Hades are one of the kindest siblings among all God and Goddesses out there since they know what loneliness feels like.
guess who feels like that ? YUP Will does
they like to be alone but not lonely.
Dazai: Dionysus
Dionysus was known to be a Reckless, crazy god that resembled freedom and fun. Children of Dionysus are usually found smiling for ... no specific reason, some could say is even scary or suspicious, like if they were drunk 😅.
Dionysus has parties where everyone dances and can fall into madness and ecstasy. Dazai is a sensual man, he has this aura that is just so appealing and comfortable to be with, but he is still a mystery, just like his father. Dyonisus was a god that usually doesn’t get in other’s people problems but it is known that he has a lot of powers, and the majority remains a mystery to humans.
Dazai is someone that craves to feel and be loved, but is scared to be rejected for who he really is, instead of that he prefers to show the “clown facade” that everyone likes, after all is easier to have “company” in a party full of people that you don’t know but they don’t really care about you than opening up to someone and being vulnerable.
People usually describe children of Dionysus as “crazy”
They are normally underestimated, but they have an incredible ability for the arts, they create the most crazy yet deep monologues.
These people tend to get obsessed over things they like, this is somewhat bad for them since they can get addicted to things like alcohol, tobacco, etc.
Talking about physical traits, Dazai is like the perfect definition of a Dionysus child, chill appearance, medium long hair, PURPLE HAIR, likes (maybe a little too much) alcohol, smooth voice.
Tumblr media
Sebastian : Demeter
Goddess of agriculture, fertility, nature, and seasons.
Children of Deméter have this motherly figure in their group of friends.
Natural protectors.
Great cooks
They can be really strict at scolding their friends, family etc. but they just want the best for their loved ones.
Children of Deméter aren’t really aggressive, but don’t get in their wrong side which would be trying to hurt their family, because they go havoc.
They have an amazing intuition, just like a good mother.
Their personalities are calm and collected, they may panic on the inside when something bad happens but never let it show.
Deméter children are so aware of the details they are the ones that give the best gifts since they know deeply their loved ones, what they like and what they don’t, again, like a good mother.
Faust: Hecate
Goddess of magic, witchcraft, ghosts, necromancy and crossroads.
Children of Hecate are really intelligent and have an amazing memory, after all they have to memorize dozens of spells.
They usually have lots of books, since they have to know the functionality and sources of the magic they are using.
CU RI O US
They may appear frightening since they face and aesthetic aren’t really welcoming sometimes, but they are actually pretty nice.
SNAKE PERSONALITY
cunning and ambitious
Children of Hecate know how to handle necromancy, which makes them closer to death, that’s why talking about this kind of topics doesn’t scare them.
Children of Hecate can be obsessive, they can stay all day and all night practicing their witchcraft, PLS SOMEONE TAKE THEM OUT OF THEIR ROOM.
They have a different type of aesthetic, maybe is not totally GOTH but there’s something religious or spiritual there, they believe that there is a superior power in the world.
Incredibly good teachers. They may not be as charismatic as Apollo kids, but they are patient and good listeners.
Calm but can be sadists too so be careful.
Vlad : Nemesis
Children of Nemesis, as their mother, tend to hold grudges and is really difficult for them to forget those who wrong them.
They can go ExTrEMe lengths in their revenge, elaborate plans that doesn’t matter how much time they take, they will do it.
Maybe scarier than Children of Ares.
Yandere personality who ?
They are really observant and intelligent, they have the ability to find Achilles ankle of any of their enemies.
Manipulative, that gives them the ability to awake rage on the ones they want like allies.
Curiously children of Nemesis have a strong sense of justice and balance, and they will do anything to carry on with their ideals, even if that means taking extreme measures.
Physically talking there’s always red on them, and I’m talking about red hair, liking for red color, and oh ! Look at that, who has red eyes ??
Charles : Tyche
Goddess of chance, fate and fortune.
I really had a hard time deciding for this one, and I don’t know a lot about him but from what I’ve seen I can say he’s a Tyche’s child.
Children of Tyche are extremely friendly and enthusiastic.
J O K E S
very hyperactive
Smarter than they look, observant and empaths, also they like to prank people like a pixie would do.
Pretty smiles, and they giggle like a lot.
Usually green eyes.
Obviously they like to gamble or if the other participants doesn’t like to, Children of Tyche conform with just playing
They love nature and animals.
A kid in an adult body
Don’t let their cute smiles, dimples or freckles fool you, they can be manipulative.
Idk why but I imagine Tyche kids with fairy like features, maybe that’s why lots of them have a short height.

Hello! Sorry if my English is not as good 😅, but I really love your insightful thoughts about the characters and how you describe Comte 😍. If it's not an annoyance, I wanted to ask something about Charles (I know his route is not out yet and there is not much information about him). I've been seeing in some posts that Vlad did something to him in Dazai's route (i'm not sure what really happened) and i'm really curious about it, because even though it's known that Vlad uses his powers against his people, i can't really picture it due to the way Charles acts towards him with so much affection ?🤔 or admiration... (I guess it's because of his personality or trauma, behavior that it's different from Faust, who acts cautiously with Vlad) So it's something i'm truly curious about. Sorry for bothering you and Thank you!
Welcome welcome! Please don’t worry, I had no trouble at all understanding you, your English is great! ❤️❤️❤️ As for what I know about Charles, my information is limited due to the nature of his content so far--I haven’t seen a ton about him quite yet. But in Dazai’s route we get a glimpse into his situation due to his increased screentime there.
I’m just going to put a spoilers warning here for Dazai’s JPN rt, since that’s where I’ve learned the most about Charles:
Charles is indeed a very affectionate and generally genki boy as far as interpretations go, but there are heavy implications that Vlad is manipulating him on a profound psychological level. I say this only because there is plenty of evidence that Charles’ behavior isn’t quite his own at points, and because Dazai himself proves it to be true.
One piece of information that is necessary before delving too deep is that Charles finds MC’s handkerchief at one point early on and develops a sudden curiosity/desire to see her. While a person could just assume he was curious, I don’t personally believe that curiosity went without surveillance or intervention--since Vlad was there the whole time.
My best guess is that Vlad wanted to find out more about MC and perhaps use her as bait to manipulate Dazai (or threaten Comte), but Dazai already offered him something interesting in wanting to warp the flow of time--so Charles’ relationship with her was only collateral in the end. While Charles did have some level of sincere feeling for MC, it’s later revealed that it was ostensibly an obsession and did not operate on a normal level of personable feeling.
The way Dazai further proves that Charles’ mind has been manipulated is that, when Dazai begins to suggest that Vlad is essentially a con-man that intends to use Charles for murder no matter the cost to his mental health, Charles reacts with unnatural distress. It’s not the kind of refusal a person would normally have at the suggestion of someone’s betrayal of their loyalty, where they reject it and are uneasy but otherwise aren’t physically controlled by the emotion. Charles seems unable to mentally handle the suggestion that Vlad’s intentions aren’t good at all--that he’s lying--to the point where Charles nearly collapses from the intensity of the dissonance between his own mind and the parts Vlad is forcing into obedience.
There is also a scene following Charles’ intense mental distress where Vlad essentially interrogates Charles as to his loyalty, and gives the overtone that any kind of disobedience will be swiftly destroyed if he sees it. Faust tries to protect Charles as best he can, but his power is limited compared to Vlad’s.
Furthermore, Vlad is Charles’ sire (aka Charles’ creator as a vampire)--if he can command and manipulate Shakespeare as well as people extraneous to him so easily, I really doubt Charles would be beyond his control. The only reason Faust seems to have more agency and stability is that Faust is highly attached to his own internal emotional compass and what he believes in. (The keyword here is “seems”, if I’m honest I’m not 100% sure if Vlad isn’t still there in his mind, subtly manipulating him to the darker sides of his nature.) Charles, as much as I love him, seems even more susceptible to the emotional/motivational overtones of others around him. I mean Faust even uses a similar tactic to help Charles, in that he slowly walks him through to the solution, and Charles never once questions his judgement or thought process because it feels right to him. If you think about it Shakespeare is much the same way; he’s so obsessed with the creation of his plays and public reception to them that he is easily manipulated because he lacks personal grounding. Vincent, despite his gentle nature, is not half so susceptible to this manipulation because he is immovable at his core. There are moral lengths he will not go to no matter the intentionality, and his inspirations come from deep within. Even Dazai is too mentally strong to be controlled due to his immense love for other people. Vlad also cannot control him because he loves MC so deeply he would never betray that trust, the only single time he betrays it is when he seeks suicide (which is more about fighting his mental illness and self-harm than it is about hurting MC).
If I’m honest, I think Charles may want to believe in the best of Vlad. But I don’t think that necessarily means that Vlad is not manipulating him to his own ends, or that he isn’t causing Charles significant psychological distress/dissonance throughout the game. Charles seems like the type to want to believe in people even if he knows that belief might be misplaced. As for Vlad, I have little to no reason to believe he is not hurting Charles. He does not consider Charles his son in any capacity, and openly treats both Charles and Faust like tools to a greater end. With Vlad, only the results matter--the means are irrelevant.

On cats. (Vincent and Alice meta)
Something went wrong when you were born. There was some kind of mistake, some earth-shattering cosmic screwup that resulted in your creation. Nothing can be done about it- that mistake is who you are, something inseparable from the core of your being. Humans must scorn you, or else be made to suffer. You know that. No one will let you forget it.
Supposedly, you’re surrounded by people like you. They find camaraderie in each other, share each other’s pain so no individual is given too much to bear. Supposedly, supposedly they’ve all been tossed aside, declared too sinful to be tolerated by humans, and supposedly that means you’re all family and you’re all friends. They don’t like you, though. You’re a step further.
Who’s there to care for you? Your sibling, in a sense, but also not- they know what you are and can’t ever really forgive you for it. They love you, in their way, and then also love the one who put you there, who tells you your life is forfeit and approaches you intending to one day have you killed. Nothing can be done about it. To go against him would doom you both.
There’s one person, though, just one person who seems to care for you. He’s not like the others- he’s from the outside, where he says he’ll take you someday, away from the family that scorns you. This person is gentle and warm to you in a way no human has ever been, says you’re pretty, says you’re kind, says he loves you. You love him religiously, of course, since it’d be a saint that could love something as hateful as you.
Tumblr media
(chapter 103)
There’s someone just like you out there. You hate them.
The first bit of information we’re given about Alice and Vincent’s relationship is delivered in the most shocking way possible- Alice, fawned on by Jack and caught in the sort of innocent infatuation one would expect a young girl to have, is approached by Vincent. Immediately she identifies him as an enemy, talking of how she hates him for how he bullies her. Then he shows her her cat, presumably Alice’s only real friend, whose eyes he’s gouged out. (chapter 31)
It’s something I see PH fans talk about a lot, often with the perspective that it’s proof of how Vincent had always been evil. That’s understandable. The setup of a protagonist whose only companion is a cat, otherwise bullied an isolated, then having their cat be brutally murdered is common in Japanese media (think of Mob Psycho 100, Mahou Shoujo Site, and Misao as examples from different genres and mediums). It’s a very easy way to garner sympathy for a character and to demonstrate the degree of their helplessness. What Vincent had done seemed, when it was first shown, to be an act of needless cruelty.
What Vincent had done was wrong. In no way do I attempt to argue that there’s any justification for animal cruelty, especially to the degree that he had committed. The issue I take here is in how many refuse to take into account the full context of their relationship, one I think is extremely important to understanding both characters. Pandora Hearts is a series whose structure largely relies on going back over the same events from different perspectives, with new information- information that more often than not completely changes the meaning of the events previously shown- displayed each time.
Tumblr media
(chapter 39)
Here’s the thing about children- they only know what’s been shown to them. A child that’s been violently abused will not understand the immorality of violence. A child that’s only been shown cruelty will not understand the problem with being cruel. Here’s Alice, told from birth she was dangerous, that she was to be held in isolation and abused, ostensibly for the greater good. Here’s Vincent, told the same thing. Here’s Gil, who wants to kill Alice now, because Vincent needs Gil, needs Gil to protect him from Alice who’s being cruel to him now, and if Gil can’t make Vincent need him, what point is there in Gil being alive?
She makes Gil wear that expression again because of me. It’s worth noting, Alice is gleeful to hear Gil was going to be murdered after Gil threatens and physically assaults her. Vincent was the only child in that scenario who seemed to have no interest in the death of another.
From the beginning of their relationship there’d been a mutual understanding between Alice and Vincent of each being, in some way, interchangeable with the other. It’s why Alice mocks Vincent to begin with- a defensive anger out of the perception that Vincent intended to steal Jack away when Jack was all Alice had. Vincent felt no anger towards Alice for the things she said to him, but Gil’s reaction to them- he recognized his anger at her as being, in a way, a product of Gil’s emotions towards Vincent. The thing about hating yourself is you start to hate anything that looks like you, too.
Alice and Vincent’s respective cruelties were that of children, meaning, ultimately, they were that of adults. Both had been abused and dehumanized by their family and then groomed by Jack, who encouraged conflict between them knowing it would drive them both further into helplessness and isolation. I have no intention of debating whether either deserved it (neither did) nor if one traumatized the other more thoroughly (does it even matter?). I am stating plainly: Alice and Vincent, who were abused children, both treated each other horribly, as they were abused children.
(Do not try to argue that Vincent should have found another outlet. He was an abused and dehumanized eight year old who fully believed his guardian intended to kill his brother. If Vincent had a healthy outlet, he would not have any conflict with Alice to begin with.)
There’s something very important to consider when discussing both Alice and Vincent’s abuse- the fundamental reason as to both why they connected with one another in the way they did and why they were abused in the first place. In fact, it’s the common factor in their connection to Jack, why he had been interested in them in the first place, as they would both eventually find out.
Tumblr media
(chapter 72)
Tumblr media
(chapter 103)
It’s Lacie. Their connection is Lacie. The reason for their abuse, the reason for their grooming, their reason for their subsequent empathy and hatred for one another is their shared connection to Lacie. Both, for their resemblance to her, were isolated and dehumanized in accordance to the circumstances of their birth. Remember, had that tower not been occupied by Alice, it would’ve gone to the next Child of Ill Omen. It should have been Vincent’s.
The other important piece of knowledge to understanding Alice’s hostility towards Vincent would not be revealed until long after their confrontation is first shown. It further cements that their aggression towards one another was from their shared connection to Lacie, a sort of self harm by proxy between two children with no other means of expressing themselves.
Tumblr media
(chapter 71)
Alice knew.
She knew who her mother was, what had happened to her- someone told her, Core of Abyss or someone else. That Alice would know what happened to her mother and know the stigma surrounding the Child of Ill Omen but not understand what the two meant together is unlikely. Alice definitely understood the connotations of what she had said to Vincent- mocking him for being marginalized in a way that had caused him to suffer continuous, extreme abuse- and it’s likely she understood what those connotations meant in relation to herself.
If we assume she knew what happened to her mother- which she did- and assume she knew her mother being a Child of Ill Omen was the cause- which is likely- then her mockery of Vincent for being a Child of Ill Omen takes on a new meaning. Not only is it the recognition that she and Vincent were of the same cloth, similarly regarded as unwanted. It is the recognition that Vincent is the same as that which had birthed Alice to begin with. She implicitly blames him for her creation.
Vincent hates Alice. He hates Alice for hurting Gil. He hates Alice for upsetting Jack. He hates Alice for having caused the Tragedy of Sablier, for have created the circumstances which led to Jack’s death. In the second to last chapter, Vincent says he is sure that he and Alice are the same.
(Consider reading my meta on Vincent and Miranda.)

With a comforting heat emanating from the hearth, and the curtains drawn tight over the windows, it almost feels like you’re hidden away from the outside world. It always does, when you’re in here with him.
You’re lounging on the sofa, back pressed against two ridiculously fluffy pillows, cheek smushed against one palm. The sash of your wrap-dress is undone, both sides pushed away from your front, baring your skin to your husband’s focused gaze.
Soft bristles dip into more paint, silver this time, before they meet soft skin. You had just awoken from your nap, unable to pinpoint when you had fallen asleep, to see Vincent smiling up at you, still sweeping his paintbrush across your skin. He’s positioned between your legs on his stool, palette in hand, sans shirt with his paint-splattered apron tied around his torso and loose trousers hanging low on his hips.
“Nearly done, mijn schatje,” he murmurs, flaxen bangs mussed from your hands and his own creating the visual of a wild, darling angel. Your eyes are drawn to the jut of his collarbone, to his well-toned arms. There’s a smudge of blue paint on his cheek, and above his left brow.
You hum and close your eyes, sighing softly at the ticklish sensation you haven’t quite gotten used to, casting your thoughts out and away from the low, hypnotic buzzing in your skin.
“Take your time. It feels nice.” ‘A little too nice,’ you think, but keep that to yourself. The backs of his hands have brushed the underside of your breasts exactly nine times, and you might be going a little crazy here.
Skilful fingers, the paintbrush a medium for his magic, dot another cluster of stars onto midnight blue, concentrated around your belly button and spreading out into curlings tendrils. A galaxy depicted on a canvas that could only have come from the gods, and blessed is he who gets to be the one to fill it.
Sky blue eyes, bright with reverence, fixate on the curve of your rounding belly. His heart, swollen with love, throbs insistently. Vincent has been living life with a constant hum in his veins, and not just the hungry kind. No, this is a delirious sort of happiness, of sunshine between his ribs; being with you, watching new life grow within you. His wife. A creation he had a part in, so wondrous that it leaves him humbled and so grateful he could fall to your feet and weep.
He’s going to be a papa.
Vincent doesn’t quite know what to do with such strong emotions, ones that seem to remain at high tide so often.
A little over eighteen weeks and it still embarrasses you a little, at first, when he touches you with quivering fingers, wanting to explore all the way your body changes, softens and yet, strengthens. He has been there for every little thing, from holding your hair back while you heave in the bathroom, to prenatal visits and to helping you with chores. In the early mornings—now that the nausea has been abating—when the first few glimmers of sunlight spill through the windows and Vincent is blinking awake, smiling at the warmth of you in his arms, hand curled over your striped belly tenderly.
The force of his own ardor scares him, sometimes.
With love having forced the door open, others seem to have walked in along with it. There’s jealousy, and greed. Possessiveness, and an endless want. Vincent has always been protective of you, but lately, just having you out of his sight leaves him anxious. He hasn’t said a word about it, but he knows you’ve noticed. It’s for him to work on, and so he will.
It’s also a bit thrilling, to be so overwhelmed after being so...muted, in some ways. To have someone in his life who draws out the good and the bad. He revels in the constant waves of emotions because he has you to share them with.
He catches your eyes on him before you close them again, the curve of your mouth tensing, your free hand curling into itself. Head tilting slightly, he sets his brush and palette down on the floor, reaching for a washcloth as you shift slightly, feigning a doze.
Vincent cleans his hands, watching the minute movements of your eyes beneath their lids, the goosebumps on your skin.
Slender fingers settle on your knees; you don’t open your eyes, but he catches the way your breath quickens.
‘Ah.’
A smile teases at the corner of his mouth.
“I know you’re awake,” Vincent says softly, palms flittering over your thighs. The air between you two changes; it’s like flipping a switch. Lips parting, you finally look at him and his pulse begins to race. There’s a request in your eyes, a need, and something primal within him rises to answer it at once.
He’s leaning over you within seconds, your hands in his hair, his own cradling your head as he presses his lips to yours. He’s careful, but you won’t have any of that, sweeping your tongue into his mouth demandingly as you shed any pretence of sleep.
“I tried to be patient.” Your smile is sheepish as your hands settle on his shoulders before sliding down his broad back, the tip of your tongue running over the stud in his ear, then the cuff, teasing and testing. It makes him shiver, makes his gums ache, and he clamps down on his self-control.
“I know, darling,” he assures you, kissing both corners of your mouth before he slides off your body, sinking to his knees. Undoing the ties of your underwear, he clicks his tongue softly. “But you were supposed to tell me if you needed something.”
“It was fine! I knew I could wait,” you mumble, picking at stray threads of the sofa.
“Mhm, this doesn’t look fine to me. I’ve neglected you. Allow me to acquit myself?” An entreaty. A delicate trail of kisses up your inner thigh. He inhales deeply, your heady scent going straight to his groin, the groan he lets out making you squirm.
“...You don’t have to make up for anything.” Mouth pursed, brows furrowed—you look adorable. His patience is endless and his affection for you is etched in every inch of his being. It allows him to read every move you make, makes him smile at the very thought of your fussing; the unmistakable desire in your expression, though, leaves his pants feeling a tad bit tighter. He has, after all, made it his mission to understand not just your mind but your body as well.
“Alright. Then, will you let me take care of you?” Vincent beseeches you, and you don’t possess the power to resist that, not when you’ve been thinking about this for hours.
With your nod, hands curl around the backs of your thighs. He hoists them over his shoulders and dives in with fervour, the immediate taste of your arousal rich on his tongue. His mind nearly melts at the way you keen, writhing under the clever ministrations of his mouth; his nose presses into your tiny bundle of nerves, his fingers slide in with ease. The cry of his name echoes in the room, punctuated by the loud, slurping sounds coming from between your legs.
He feels a little lightheaded, drunk off your taste alone, and fights to keep his fangs retracted.
Vincent will never get enough of you coming undone on his tongue, your thighs trembling with the aftershocks as you suck in quick, shallow breaths. He revels in the sight of you drenched, your body lax, watching him, silently asking him—we’re not done, are we? It thrills him to know you’re just as eager for him, as he is to lose himself in your warmth. That he isn’t alone in this insatiable longing, this constant craving for closeness.
He struggles a little with the tie of his apron, his mind focused on your face as he licks at the wetness coating his mouth. You reach for him and he meets you with a toe-curling kiss, throwing his apron to the side, smiling at the slide of your palm from his chest to the waistband of his pants.
“Are you sure, ___?” he asks, tucking your hair behind your ears, cradling your cheeks, studying your expression worriedly as if expecting you to throw him off, or for your unborn child to interrupt with a fluttering kick.
“Vincent,” you begin, admittedly huffy and more than ready for him. “I don’t think you realize how stimulating body painting can be. I’m losing my mind here. Just a little.”
“Perhaps we can try it the other way around next time.” You would have to take the time to think about that once you’re a little less occupied. His musing is cut short when you tug at his waistband, eyes slanted pleadingly as if begging for a treat. “Oh, sorry! Okay sweetheart, how do you want to do it?”
You take a moment to gauge the state of your body as he slides his pants off, kicking them to the floor before sliding your robe the rest of the way off. And then you push him onto his back, him going down a willing devotee, climbing onto him carefully, mouth quirked up with a sly grin.
“Perfect,” he breathes, smiling broadly. Unbeknownst to him, it still flusters you a little. It’s a warm sunny day wrapped up in plush lips and a devastating dimple, and it’s lethal to your heart. And hormones. “Here, careful!”
With a steady grip on your hips, Vincent helps you sink onto his length slowly. You look at him, eyes half-lidded, watching the way the thick vein on his neck tenses, his fingers digging into your soft skin before he relaxes them with visible effort, pale lashes fluttering as he gasps at the feeling of your heat engulfing him.
With a languid roll of your hips, your head tipping back, you set a steady pace. His length is heavy and straining in you, his abdomen taut. He begins to thrust into you, dragging short, ragged moans from you with each slow slide.
‘Gentle. Gentle. Gentle,’ he reminds himself over and over again. He palms a breast, thumb running over a pebbled nipple, tugging at it lightly, gritting his teeth at the low, pained sound it rips from you—the way it makes your walls flutter around him. Your steady rhythm falters, your hips coming down harder and Vincent does not feel in control. You do that to him. It’s an inebriating rush, a heat in his belly, beckoning to parts of him hidden even from him.
“It’s okay,” you gasp, palms splayed across his abdomen. “It’s okay, please, I just need—harder. Please.”
The sound that leaves him is a cross between a groan and a cry, as he loosens the reins and thrusts deeper, spurred on by your loud moans. You look otherworldly, with your hair a wild mess and your eyes so dark he could feel them dragging him in. The clusters of stars, blue and pink and silver, a tiny part of the universe on your skin, made full by him. He hadn’t quite anticipated the effect it would have on him, that it would rob him of coherence and control.
Your hand slides down his navel, running up his skin and coarse blond curls until it meets your flesh and rubs quick, tight circles. He holds on to you as your sex convulses around him, clutching him tight as you come hard, jaw slack.
Even in a daze, you protest softly when he pulls you off him, pulling you down to rest next to him on the sofa. He curls around your back, one arm cushioning your head while the other hikes your leg up, entering you smoothly once more.
Your shoulders relax, back arching as he thrusts swiftly, a few solid strokes and then spills himself within you, his breath warm against the damp skin of your nape. You lie boneless, mind made mush, until he stirs and props himself up on an elbow.
“Are you okay, ___?”
You turn slightly, indolent, to see him peering down at you in concern. Furrowed brows smoothen when you reach up to swipe damp bangs away from his forehead, the lines of his face relaxing once more. A chaste kiss and you share a small smile as he nuzzles your cheek.
“I’m...perfect. You?”
His hand comes to rest on your rounded abdomen, caressing the painted skin tenderly. “Me too. Are you hungry?”
You want to say no, but the knowing smile playing across his lips makes you sigh and nod instead. “A little, yes.”
“Good. Then let’s-”
The rest of his words are cut off by a loud knock at the door. You both turn to face the door in slight trepidation, an exasperated groan building in your throat.
“Broer! ___! I’ve brought you some water. And Sebastian says dinner’s ready. Are you two done painting?” There’s a short pause, and another—hesitant, perhaps—knock. “Broer?”
Well. Perhaps there is one other who is just as excited about this as the two of you.

[Excerpt] Long after the lives of the lovers had past, the kingdom fell to ruin, stuck by a great disaster out of anyone's control. Another kingdom would rise, and fall, in its place, just as others had in the past. It would face problems like its predecessors once did, and would be given hope by the few glorious souls that rallied the masses and dared to fight for their values. Yes, the kingdom they fought for would fall too. Yes their hardship would essentially equate to nothing in the ultimate infinity of the universe. But, in their short existences, they tried and did their best to make a difference in their time. They made a difference to those around them. They made a difference in the course of history They made a difference in each other’s lives. And in their end, they had love. What other end could be more joyous than to die in love?
[Ana and Jack rejoin Overwatch. Jack finds himself becoming closer and closer to Reinhardt, who had been pining for years.]

Long ago, there existed a kingdom in a forest. It was breathing the breaths of life in it's newfound status and growth. It was prosperous, stable. At some point in its history, it began a cruel conquest, fueled by the memories of it's suffering from a recent war. It feared that suffering, and sought to ensure that it would never suffer again.
-
Reinhard stood at the resting place of his master. He remembers his sacrifice. An honorable death. A death that perhaps could have been avoided if he wasn't so cocky and such a honor hungry glutton. That bit of guilt always resided in him. This is part of the reason he fulfilled his master's last duty. It was the least he could do.
It is bittersweet, but his master's unfortunate death allowed him to become a better person. It was this passed down, sacred duty given to him from his felled master that led to him experiencing and learning so much. It allowed him to meet many great people who he would never forget. It was for the gift of those memories that he would always honor his duty and answer the call. He would keep the memory of his master alive. He would not let it be forgotten.
The scans were completed a while ago, so all that was left to do was pay his respects. He left the medallion entrusted to him all those years ago on the armrest. A piece of those memories for his old friend to hold onto, memories that perhaps could have been his.
-
Long ago, there existed a forest kingdom. It was ruled by a king favored by many. He brought forth a new era. He was spurred by the memories of old stories he heard in his youth, among them, stories of a grand and prosperous kingdom. He desired to bring those stories to life as much as he could, and he did.
-
Jack stared at the photo, an old thing that managed to withstand the passage of time and preserve distant memories. So many memories, all filled with so many emotions, many of them never to be felt again, forever just a memory. Yet, it was the memories incited by that photo that spurned him in a seemingly distant past. Even in the present, they still provoked him to fight on.
Ana understood this well, perhaps even more so. Her husband, her daughter, available to her only in memories. Yet, they compelled her to continue the fight more than anything. She never needed to ask why he stared at it in silence for so long, caressing the worn edges. She knew that despite wanting more, they were still content enough with their current lives. He had kept tabs on Vincent, and learned that moved on, and was living a good happy life. She had kept tabs on Fareeha and Sam, and saw that they had come to do just fine.
All was well in the end. The ghosts who were kept alive by memories were accepting of their afterlife in the physical realm. That was, until their shared ghost had come back to life to haunt them. A recall was issued for Overwatch, and suddenly, there was an opportunity to face the present and future, to no longer be bound by the past. At least, that’s how Ana saw it. She wanted to see her daughter, even if she was doing what she had never hoped the girl would do. But, what child always listens to their parents?
She expressed her desire to Jack, just to learn that the stubborn fool desired differently. She honestly expected as much. Their time as ghosts were over. The Shrike and Soldier: 76 had to cease their existence, even if just for a moment, so that Ana Amari and Jack Morrison could face the present: the reality where their dreams were long gone, replaced by the truth, cold and hard it may be at first. Cold and hard it may even always be, but it is the truth.
She decided that she would leave, with or without him. She wanted to face reality so that she could have a decent future, what would remain of it, at least. She wasn’t getting any younger, and she knew it. Still, she tried to convince him one last time. She was his friend, and only wanted the best for him, be it a whack to the back of his head, or a hug.
“Overwatch was our home, Jack. It still is. It is our family. Are you really going to abandon it now that you have this second chance?” she questioned.
“You know as well as I do it was a lot more than just that.” he replied. There was Blackwatch, for starters. And Overwatch was an international organization with the power to help and hinder many, for better or worse. Eventually, it toppled under the weight it carried. When it fell, it was evident it was something the world no longer needed. Talon and its adversaries had bested the organization as well, proving to Jack that it could not be dealt with in the light. Yet…
“Even so, we have a chance to live, to help others learn from the mistakes we made. Will you even abandon that duty just so you can mope all day and beat someone up now and then? The dead can only affect the living so much, Jack. There will come a day when you will truly die. Will you be content to die as someone forgotten, content to die a miserable, delusional old man? You know when I’ll be leaving. You’re welcome to stay here as long as you like, and know that you’ll be missed, again.”
With that, she left him to think. He had been alone for so long, it hardly seemed to matter anymore. But, she had a point. Was he really alright with dying alone. In the crisis, he had his fellow soldiers to live and die with. He was fortunate enough to be among the survivors. In Overwatch, he did not enter the battlefield much anymore. It was indeed lonely at the top, being pulled away from his friends, family, and love. For what? He wasn’t sure anymore. Even so, he was never truly alone. Gabe and Ana were still with him, more often for work related reasons than not, but still. Vincent, the understanding man he was, still loved him despite how often he was away. Jack loved him too, still did, in a way different than before, but it was love all the same.
He considered that she was perhaps right, calling him miserable and delusional. His time as a ghost among mortals was miserable. Even as Strike Commander, working seemingly endless hours, he was able to find moments of repose. A calm night with Vincent, a huge dinner with Ana and Gabe and their families, a simple thank-you letter handed to him from a promising trainee. There was none of that as a ghost.
He missed that, more than he wanted to admit. Did he really think this was how he wanted to live? Even if he wouldn't have any of that if he returned to the living, there were other things life had to offer. He feared he could lose even that too. But, he had to try, didn’t he?  That was what he had always done. There was no reason to stop now, especially not in the name of fear. What kind of soldier would he be otherwise? A dead one, that’s what.
-
The kingdom went across the lands, conquering and destroying any who opposed it. Soon, their conquest had ended. They gained a vast amount of land, inhabited by an array of peoples. These people were now people of the kingdom, and the people of the kingdom did not suffer. The people of the forest forgot this.
-
Reinhardt and Brigitte were the first, aside from Lena, to respond to the call. After their short flight, they were at their new base, the base of the new Overwatch. Reinhardt had been there at Gibraltar before, though not often. He remembered it as mostly uneventful, but great for his tan. There, he and Brigitte met up with Winston and Lena. By all definitions, this was the gorilla’s home, and a second home to Lena. It was great to see some familiar faces. Being the only ones to have currently “officially” rejoined Overwatch, Winston and Lena were excited to give them a tour of the new base of operations. It was a work in progress, one knight and his squire would be happy to help complete.
That night, over dinner, they discussed who they thought would answer the call and show up. Winston noted that Angela and Genji were likely candidates, and Mei was en route after a trek through the Antarctic and traveling across the world. They also imagined Torbjorn would be joining, and Ana’s daughter if she caught wind of the revival. Aside from them, it was anyone’s bet as to who would answer the call. It may not be a lot of people, but it was a start, and that was all they would need. Their first mission was already set for a few months time, leaving plenty of time for people to answer, and to work on the base.
Torbjorn was the next to arrive, to the great joy of Brig and Rein. His engineering expertise was invaluable. After that, came Mei. Only Torbjorn and Winston knew her beforehand. Tracer, Brig, and Rein had found her very agreeable, very clearly a wonderful woman who would fit right in. She became incorporated into their friend group in no time. After her, to everyone’s surprise, was Echo, renowned creation of Mina Liao and overall a great companion.
Before they knew it, their first mission came and went, a stunning success. It was no surprise that Fareeha showed up at their doorstep soon after. Rein remembered her very well. She was an adorable little one who loved heroism, and grew into a fine, strong woman. He would play with her with Mcree every now and then.
While he was glad she was among them, fulfilling her lifelong dream, he could not help but feel that he was a bit alone. Among brilliant minds and an advanced AI, he stood out. Fareeha was similar to him, just a simple soldier, but much younger than him, so not as relatable. He was very close to Torbjorn and Brig as well, but he still could not help but feel that something was missing. He realized what it was when Torbjorn had bought it up one night, when it was just them sharing a few drinks. Or rather, Torb had directly said what it was.
Ana, Gabriel, Jack. Things were just not the same without them. Even as things got rough towards the end, they were still family. As Torb had put it, they were as core to Overwatch as “a nano-thermal heat sink was to a intra-dynamic processor module.” Reinhardt could only assume the man was correct. His knowledge of technology and such was minimal, just enough to keep up his armor and hammer by himself. Even then, he trusted Brig to take care of it better than himself. He was just a soldier after all. A Crusader, yes, but a simple soldier all the same. He was only taught what was necessary for battle, same as his long dead companions.
Yet, they still stood out among even the best. Rein supposed he was much the same though. By all means, he was an accomplished man. He could have retired and lived the rest of his life as a distinguished soldier during the Omnic Crisis and honorably discharged member of Overwatch. No. He decided to continue fighting on, to eventually die a warrior’s death, as Balderich had, as Jack, Ana, and Gabriel had. He imagined they would have done the same, except for maybe Ana. In all fairness, she did not have super soldier juice in her, and had a family. Rein certainly wouldn't have blamed her.
That night, as he lay in his bed, he remembered back to the days and nights they all shared together. The revelry of a victory, the woe of loss, the small moments that are difficult to remember, but the feelings they contain never forgotten. Eventually, his mind wandered to the first time he met them, there in Gibraltar.
It was a great honor to be working with them to aid in the creation of a better world for all. They all responded accordingly, in their own way of course. It was when Jack greeted him did Reinhardt swear he fell in love. He did not realize it at first, but he would realize it soon enough. He knew it was a bad idea to fall for your superior, but he did nonetheless. There was something about his smile and the way he spoke.
Hearing that the man had a boyfriend both gave him hope, and crushed him a little. On one hand, he wouldn't be pining after a straight guy, on the other, Jack was taken. Rein might wield a smashing hammer, but he was no homewrecker. Over the years, he would only fall for the Strike Commander more and more.
Yet, for all his bravery, he never told another soul. It is the simple things that time takes away: small yet warm memories, the first time he ever kissed another some time while a soldier, the voice of a friend from his youth. However, his love for Jack was not simple. Thus, it persisted.
-
The king, fueled by the memories of stories, forgot he resided in the present, in reality. His enemies knew where they resided. By the time he realized he could not attain the greatness he desired, he was fine. He had learned how to deal with reality, and did his best to bring what he could of those stories into reality. It was not easy, but with the memories of his people, he did what he could, and created new memories in the process.
-
When Jack and Ana had arrived at the Watchpoint, it was well on its way to sliding into the ocean. Smoke bellowed in places as agents, many of them familiar faces, fought off what were obviously Talon forces. Ana rolled her eye, always sure the organization would have collapsed without her. It did fall after she was “killed,” so she might have been onto something.
Without hesitation, they joined the fray as unknown, masked combatants, proving who they sided with very quickly. They eventually found themselves split from each other, nothing concerning in the slightest. Ana found herself working alongside her daughter, the memorable cowboy, and an omnic she recognized as reminiscent of an OR-15 model. She made sure to keep her children healthy in between getting acquainted with the omnic and sleeping any fools who dared get close.
Meanwhile, Jack found himself fighting alongside the Crusader, an ancient bastion unit, and  one very talented, very short, engineer. The giant crusader tried to make small talk with him, but Jack repeatedly responded with a noncommittal grunt or with something basic and unrevealing. Despite this, the German remained as friendly as ever, just as Jack had remembered. He had found the man to be loud, but never really minded so long as he wasn’t having a bad day. If it was one of those days, which were frequent towards the end, he would kindly lower his voice, which honestly wasn’t particularly quiet. Regardless, it was a greatly appreciated gesture when he felt so underappreciated himself.
Eventually, the battle reached its conclusion. Talon robots lay defeated, their remains would later reveal useful information. A few enemy ships were making their escape, Tracer chasing after them in hopes of being able to land a tracker on at least one of them. And to top it all off, Widowmaker had been captured. However, the one known as the Reaper had escaped, as they would learn in a hastily thrown together meeting with some refreshments. It was then that The Shrike and Soldier: 76 spoke up.
“The Reaper is a strong foe, though a dumb one.” the Shrike spoke. “Dumb fool…”
“We also know him as Gabriel Reyes, former head of Blackwatch.” 76 revealed. He was immediately bombarded with questions of how he could say such a thing without any evidence. Not only that, Gabriel had been long dead after all.
“You’d be surprised at how hard it is to kill an old soldier.” she responded, taking off her mask to reveal her face. Of course, her daughter was the first to recognize her.
“… Mom?” Fareeha asked. “You’re… alive.” Her mother nodded her head. A wide variety of emotions covered Fareeha’s face as she stormed out the room. Ana sighed.
“Well, if you’ll excuse me, I have to deal with this. I’m sure you all understand.” she said with the nonchalant wave of a hand as she went after her daughter. A moment of silence followed, all eyes eventually shifting to the masked man who arrived with her.
“You… I know who you are then! You’re Jack!” Reinhardt shouted, pointing a large finger at the man.
“…”
“Ahh! Your silence isn’t hiding anything old friend!” he bellowed, moving a few steps to give him a heavy pat on the back, making the smaller man slightly off balanced for a moment. “It is great to have you back.” he said more softly with a warm smile. Somehow, it made Jack soften up a little.
“It…” he began, taking off his mask before continuing. “It’s nice to see you too Reinhardt.”
-
It was not until they saw their memories played out by the people they conquered, who were now people of the kingdom, that they remembered this. The conquered lands were given an option, they could receive reparations and sever their ties to the kingdom, or receive one half of the reparations and join the forest kingdom in a coalition. They would form a single kingdom, each land in the kingdom equal in power. Many refused. They survived just fine. Those that joined experienced the mixing and melding of their memories that, as a result, birthed new memories reminiscent of their old ones
-
In the following months, things began to return to normal. The base was quickly rebuilt thanks to the help of friends around the world. More recruits, of faces old and new, had joined as well. Sojourn, Genji and the cyborg's brother were now a part of Overwatch. Other new faces included a friend of Winston’s from the moon, a freedom fighter who utilized the power of music and sonic technology, and a combat medic who was once a part of Talon. Meanwhile, Angela was making progress towards reverse engineering the brainwashing process so she could help Amile.
Ana had slowly been warming up to Fareeha, who was rightfully angry at her mother for deciding to leave. It saddened Ana, but was sure things would be alright in time. In the meantime, Overwatch provided her with a decent amount of work, be it missions, training, or catching up. It was decidedly better than being a ghost, but Hawai'i seemed much more tempting at times. However, she did find much joy in sharing what she had learned over the years to the younger ones, and had definitely missed gossiping at a base over tea. Vishkar representative Satya and former yakuza prince Hanzo proved to be good company in such a pastime.
Jack, on the other hand, was well in his element. He was no longer the Strike Commander, back to being a regular old soldier. Though, his insight from his past experience proved valuable of course. He soon found himself being happier with a smile on his face more often than not. He had Reinhardt to frequently thank for that. They seemed to bond over being two stubborn old soldiers. It was something Jack wished he had the time for back then, but, he had the present to do that now.
Rein was funnier than he remembered. There was also something about him that made Jack want to spend more time with the Crusader. Perhaps it was his hearty laughs that captured the attention of all, or the frequent nights they would spend together sharing a friendly drink, talking about the good and bad of their pasts, ultimately finding comfort in each other through the virtue that they weren’t so alone anymore. Perhaps it was because the man was an inspiration, a glorious sight to those who wished for hope. Jack had been one such person for a long time.
-
It was during these times did the great king reign. During all this, he was aided by many people who cared for him dearly. His mission of dreams and reality left little room for love in his life, even refusing beneficial marriages as he did not want to be an absent husband. Yet, after many years, he came to realize that there was in fact someone he loved: a knight of great renown who hailed from a conquered kingdom that joined the coalition. However, the king did not confess his love. It was only when the knight lay near death did he reveal his feelings. Perhaps it was that admission that spurned the knight to fight off death. Perhaps he would have lived regardless. What is known is that they kept their taboo love a secret.
-
This mission was supposed to be an easy one. Both soldiers should have known better than to expect things to be easy, but they were so confident in their teammates, and each other. They had been separated from the group, fighting their way to the drop point to escape. Comms went down after the order was issued to retreat and the coordinates were given. Hacked. Hopefully, the ship they were using to escape wouldn't be hacked.
The Talon machines were typically weak things, but plentiful. The sheer volume of them was what made things difficult. Jack could shoot all day, Reinhardt would hold his shield for as long as it could, and turn machines to scrap when it came to it. It was when his shield was down did his friend get hurt. A bullet to the chest, another to the leg with lots of blood flowing from it. He immediately rushed to the man, scooping him up, holding him close as he ignored the enemies and charged for the escape point. Rein didn’t know if he himself would make it.
“You know… you’re a good man, Rein.”
“Save your breath. I’ll get you to the doctors soon.” he assured.
“Heh. I think… this is fate. A warrior’s death… Honorable, and all that.”
Reinhardt remained silent. A warrior’s death was indeed honorable, but also sad, so very sad. But, at least Jack’s would not be lonely. No. There was no room for such thoughts. He steeled his resolve.
“No. You won’t be dying today! I love you too much to let you die like this!” he announced. I don’t want to lose you!
Just then, the machines froze, as if by command, their glows shifting from red to purple. Rein did not care why. If they were down, they were down. That’s all that mattered. He eventually arrived at the ship, Baptiste and Angela already there. Quickly, they shifted their attention to Jack. Fareeha was already patched up, leaving her to check Rein for any major wounds, thankfully none. His armor had served its purpose. Winston had suffered only minor injuries, and could patch himself up.
Rein could only pray and watch as the two doctors worked their gruesome yet incredible magic. Hearing that he would need a blood transfusion was concerning, but he had faith in the doctors, and hope. He could not bear the alternatives. He did not want to have to actually bury his friend again so soon like this.
It was fortunate that he and Jack shared the same blood type. He did not hesitate to offer his blood. He would never hesitate to sacrifice his blood for those he loved and wished to protect. All he could do was somberly wait, his eyes fixated on the man pale as a ghost.
They arrived back at the base where he was given more thorough treatment. Rein hated that he had to be pulled away from his fellow soldier, but he needed to be examined too, and they couldn’t risk his blood levels getting too low. They had all they needed at the base. All he could do was wait once more.
When he returned to Jack, he was still asleep on the bed in the medical ward. That night, he stood by Jack’s side, falling asleep in a chair was just barely a bit too small. He had the oddest dream that night, one of an ancient king and his lover, a knight.
When he awoke, Jack was still asleep, machines methodically beeping and droning quietly. But, Jack was still alive, and some color had returned to his face. Throughout the day, many came to visit, Brigitte and Torbjorn bringing breakfast, Ana, Winston and Lena drinking lunch, and Fareeha and Mcree bringing dinner. They all recalled old memories and stories, wishing for the best when they left.
It was a few hours after Fareeha and Mcree had left when Rein noticed that he began to stir. He shouted for one of the medics as he quickly returned to focus on Jack. Baptiste was the one to show up.
“What…”, Jack groaned, “Where... am I?”
“Safe and sound, that’s where. You took some pretty nasty hits back there. Let’s see…” the combat medic said as he pulled up the patient notes. “Major blood loss, damage to a major artery, punctured lung. Yup. Pretty nasty. Thanks to our friend here, you’ll live. Hmm, and thanks to some super soldier serum, apparently.” he noted. “Well, you should be good as new by the morning. Rest until then, and take it easy after. We’ll go over it tomorrow.”
“Right. Thanks doc.” he said as Bap began to walk away.
“Finally!” he gasped. “Someone thanked me! You’re welcome. Oh, and maybe get some actual food in you. Holler if you need anything, One of us will answer.” he finished with a wave goodbye.
Once the doctor left the vicinity, Rein practically jumped to pull Jack into a killer hug.
“Ah, thank goodness you will be well!” he rejoiced.
“Ack! They just fixed me!” he shouted.
“Right, sorry.” he sheepishly apologized. Jack let out a light huff.
“It’s alright. It’s nice to see you though.” he said with a friendly slap to the tank’s back. “So, uh, thanks. For helping me out back there.”
“Bah. Think nothing of it. It is what comrades do for one another. But, you are welcome.”
When he left Jack to get him some food, which ended up being warmed up leftover burgers and fries from the night before, Rein got to thinking. He wondered how much Jack remembered. Did he remember getting wounded? The declarations of love? The robots being hacked? How he held him tightly in his arms? Or even what happened in the ship? Rein hoped that he at least remembered the declaration of love. He didn’t think he'd ever get the courage to do it again, even after knowing Jack had moved on from Vincent.
When he came back, he noticed that Jack seemed lost in thought. But, he seemed to snap out of it once he noticed Reinhardt, thanking him for the food.
“It seemed as if there was something on your mind.” he said.
“Yeah… I need your opinion on something.” Jack requested. Rein was eager to give it. “I’ve been thinking, maybe I am getting a bit too old for this.”
“You know, I had been thinking of retirement as well.”
“You have?” Jack asked, shocked. Rein gave a lighthearted laugh.
“Yes, I have. A warrior’s death is honorable, but it would be missing something I want.” he replied.
“It’s love, isn’t it?” Jack questioned. So he did remember. Rein sheepishly turned away.
“Yes. It is love.”
“I think… I love you too, Reinhardt. Sorry, if I read things wrong, I─”
“No! You didn’t!” Rein quickly responded. Jack laughed, his bright smile the apple of Reinhardt’s eye.
“I’m glad then. I’d be honored to spend the rest of my life with you, if… that’s alright with you.”
“There would be no greater honor, than to spend the rest of my life with the man I love.” he said, placing his hand gently on top of Jack’s. They softly smiled at each other, gazing warmly at the man they loved.

Long after the lives of the lovers had passed, the kingdom fell to ruin, stuck by a great disaster out of anyone's control. They made a difference in the course of history. They made a difference in each other’s lives. And in their end, they had love. What other end could be more joyous than to die in love?
-
The honorable beings, who time and time again would arise to help their world, were fueled by the memories of others. And in turn, they fueled the memories of others as well. In a never ending cycle of despair. But, this is where hope and love are reborn, time, and time, again.

Sooooo, pre!, post!, and redeemeed!Seph's reactions once meeting Lucrecia? (On one hand, I feel like she'd be relieved he's alive. But on the other, that would mean her visions were true 😔)
Ello Anon, thanks for this.
May I just start off by saying that I was so pissed off when Vincent told Lucrecia that Sephiroth was dead. I get that it would’ve been painful for her to know the truth, but JESUS CHRIST, JUST TELL HER THE TRUTH!! I mean, she’d be in great pain, but a) I want her reaction, b) she’s part of the reason that he exists in the first place, and c) I feel like, after all the explosion of emotion she’d go through, she’d want to find him, and...
... well, yeah, I’d love to see an interaction between the two. Hopefully the Remake will give us something like that; especially if it wants to tie up all the loose ends.
Pre-Nibel Seph
This will highly depend on context.
I won’t go into what would happen if she raised him alongside Hojo and Gast, since that’s a WHOOOOOLE other question, and trust me, this is already going to be a very long answer.
WELL. If she somehow met him just before the Nibelheim Incident, maybe when he’d entered the Library, hmm... I wouldn’t say he’d be super aggressive, but he’d be angry for sure. This is the moment where he realises his life is a lie, the moment which pushes him to the realisation that he is, ultimately, nothing. Although her presence may decrease the chances of him going on his rampage, they do not entirely negate them either. I must note that I believe that Sephiroth was going to destroy the town, with or without JENOVA’s temporary influence (I refrain from saying it’s a headcanon because I do have evidence to support this idea in an upcoming post).
He’d be angry. He’s ask questions. There’s a chance he may reject her in his anger. But there’s also a chance that she may manage to... well, not calm him, but do enough to prevent the deaths of Nibelheim villagers. Though, well, certain other deaths may still be on the table. His emotions are so powerful, and he knows so little on how to handle them, that this can’t ever really go over very smoothly. Especially when you consider the fact that he was raised a weapon. Hmm... maybe a few tears may or may not be shed if she encouraged him to be more open with his emotions, somehow (difficult but not impossible)
If he’d met her beforehand, he’d obviously be very curious and excited to find out about his mother. But the moment he finds out the truth would be the moment everything falls apart (especially if she keeps it a secret from him). He’d feel so betrayed.
The best way for it to occur would be for her to get him out of Shinra, essentially setting him free from the company, and be honest from the get-go. Again, it wouldn’t be easy, but the betrayal wouldn’t be as bad as the previous scenario, and he wouldn’t be trapped alone in a basement for days on end with thoughts of rage.
Post-Nibel Seph
Death, in 90% of cases I’d say. I mean, Sephiroth is faced with one of the three main players in his creation (other two being Gast and Hojo). However, even if I think he’d most likely kill her... I don’t think she’d go instantaneously, like with President Shinra in the Remake.
The thing is, this is his biological mother. The person from which he was born. The only person in the project who seemed to oppose it because they felt a personal connection to him. He’d want to know more.
Psychological torture is a given, because when hasn’t he done that? He’d venture through every part of her thought process, force her to confront all the guilt, force her back into all the terrible memories. But what would make this interesting is that this would be a very revealing moment for Sephiroth too, because he’d be exploring one of the things that make him so vulnerable: his creation.
One may see more raw emotions from him. While he makes her face the horrors of her past, he’d be forced to face the horrors of his creation. And then, maybe, the questions, memories, and emotions he confronts her with may take a more explicitly personal turn. This is the very thing which pushed Sephiroth to do what he does, after all.
The main reason why I say the death rate isn’t 100% is because Lucrecia is, in my opinion, the only canonical character that would love Sephiroth unconditionally. Even if she’d be completely horrified by his actions, she still wouldn’t stop loving him, and would believe that it’s all her fault (which isn’t entirely incorrect).
I could see Sephiroth getting second thoughts in the deepest depths of his subconsious mind about killing her, but then stuffing them away. He might kill her without remorse, he might kill her precisely because of these uncertain thoughts, or, in the least likely scenario, he may spare her for the time being. He’d certainly deny it, but in at least some situations, her unconditional love may come to emotionally affect him in some manner.
But don’t get me wrong, if I’m incorrect and her love is not unconditional, then he’s definitely going to kill her (I’d elaborate but this has already gone on so long).
Redeemed!Seph
Well, since Redeemed!Sephiroth, you know... actually wants redemption, and as I explained in my post here (which also has a paragraph on Redeemed!Seph’s potential responses to Hojo): he is not inclined to kill. I go into detail about exceptions and special cases there, but in the overwhelming majority of cases, he will do what he can to avoid taking the life of both man and beast (which is easy, since his superior strength means he can take care of conflict without outright killing). This means that, unlike Post-Nibel Seph, he’s not going to approach Lucrecia with plans to kill her.
He’d feel a lot of emotions, all mixing together to the point where he’d be uncertain on how to describe how he feels. He wouldn’t be super warm to her, because even if she feels remorse over what she did, he still came into existence. And, as I’ve said a lot by now (don’t blame me, I love this concept): he would NOT EXIST if it hadn’t been for the experiment. Lucrecia didn’t randomly get pregnant and decide to experiment on her own child, no, as far as I can tell, THIS WAS PLANNED BEFORE CONCEPTION. Even if this was not the case, a Sephiroth without JENOVA cells literally would not be Sephiroth, but rather, a completely different person (I’d explain this more but I want to stay focused on the initial question).
Lucrecia felt bad because it was her child, not because of the ethical implications of creating a sentient being for the sake of exploitation/weaponisation, so I don’t think Seph would be super stoked about that.
Ultimately, though... I dunno, if she had a breakdown, he wouldn’t just leave her in such a state. He’d definitely want to talk to her, ask her questions, and I can’t see him rejecting her or the maternal warmth she throws at him (though he’d be quite awkward about it). But... he’d still very much feel bitterness over the nature of his existence and challenge her over her decisions. Hell, maybe go off to find Hojo alongside her too, for the sake of closure.
Since he’s nomadic, and would still be inclined to continue his travels (kinda relevant to the whole ~redemption~ thing), he wouldn’t stop for too long to spend time with her: but if she wished to join him (and I’m sure she would), he wouldn’t stop her unless he’s doing something particularly dangerous.
