Abby stood by the window, watching nervously as the rain fell in buckets to the ground below. She curled her fingers in front of her mouth, trying to stop herself from pacing.

She shouldn't have told Vincent about wanting some strawberries. She should have looked out at the weather. She should have stopped Vincent from going out, that she would have been fine going without.

Yet, he still insisted with a gentle tap on her belly.

"Just like your Oom Theo, I see." he had said with a smile.

Now, she was trying not to pace in front of the window waiting for him. He had already been gone half an hour by the time she heard the first crack of thunder. Had he been caught outside in the storm? She hoped not. Yet, it was coming up on the hour and Vincent still hadn't returned. She was worried. He hadn't taken his phone with him as he thought he wasn't going to be gone long enough to need it.

Stepping in front of the window, Abby caught her reflection in the glass, the raindrops quickly sliding down and breaking up her image. She ran her hand down her front, the journey down longer than it used to be. It had been a stormy day like today when she had first told Vincent that she was expecting, she remembered. She had been so scared and nervous then, wondering how Vincent would react, if they were even ready to be parents when they could barely afford to live in their current apartment. There was barely even any room for the crib they had bought second hand next to their bed.

She took a breath to calm herself, gazing at her reflection in the rain-soaked window with her twenty-week belly benignly stretching her shirt.

"You're being silly, Abigail," she said aloud. "Vincent will be home soon. He's probably waiting under an awning for the storm to lighten up. O-or in a shop, maybe. O-or maybe stopped somewhere to sketch something, even in the storm."

She chuckled softly.

"Yes, that does sound like something he would do. No need for all these butterflies in your tummy. He's perfectly fine."

Looking down as she lifted her long shirt, she rubbed her belly.

"Sorry that your mama is so nervous. Must not be much fun for you, sharing space with such a worrisome mama, nervous butterflies and all that."

She sat in a nearby chair, continuing her little massage.

"You've grown so much already, haven't you, little guy?" She smiled. "I can't wait to see what you look like. If you've got your papa's eyes… his nose… O-or maybe you'll take after your Oom Theo instead? Oh, Oom means uncle in Dutch! That's the language your papa speaks and I'm learning it with you as your papa teaches me. A-and your Oom Theo is your papa's little brother. I-I mean his younger brother, he's certainly not little like you are right now."

She looked over at the side table, a small assortment of photos arranged with a framed sonogram picture in the middle.

"He might have acted mean …a lot of the time, always teasing me and calling me hondje, but I know Theo would've loved to meet you. All of the mansion residents would have, I think. You would've had so many uncles looking after you."

The rain pattered against the glass, softer now.

"My family? Sorry, I don't talk about them much. Well… I'm sure that my auntie would love to meet you too. Maybe pinch your cheeks. She did that to me a lot when I was younger. I haven't seen her in a long time, not since I ...came back."

She started to laugh again, but the sound drifted off. Her voice turned somber, hands curling around her belly.

"Your papa and I don't have much," she said, "and I wish we could provide more for you, but I hope that, more than anything, you’ll know that you are very, very much loved."

She looked out at the window again, the room turning quiet once more.

Then, she heard the door opening and heard a few distantly muttered Dutch words. She was on her feet before she knew it and raced towards the door, seeing Vincent soaked from head to toe, his blond locks heavy with rain. He brightened up when he saw her.

"I'm home, schatje." He said warmly.

"Vincent!" Abby said, taking his face into her hands. "You were caught in the storm, weren't you? I'm so sorry."

"It's alright. The green grocer and I got to talking, so I didn't notice how long it had been. He gave me some advice about helping you out since he and his wife have four children already, expecting a fifth one soon."

"F-five children?"

"Yes, five. That's how many siblings I had, actually."

"It.. It sounds like a lot."

"Maybe we can ask him about playdates once our little one is old enough. Their youngest would be around the same age as ours."

"Next time we see him, w-we'll ask him about it." Abby said, brushing back his wet hair. "But you need to dry off first. You're still soaking wet."

"Ahaha, yes." He set his bag in the kitchen, peeling off his wet shirt. He then smiled as he noticed something. "Did you start the laundry before I left?"

Abby's back was turned, looking for some towels for Vincent.

"I started to, but then it started raining, so nothing is dry at the moment."

"So, no clean clothes?" Vincent walked up to her.

"Nothing dry, anyway. I had to hang them in the bathroom so they could-" Abby then realized what she said. "Oh no, there's nothing for you to wear!"

Vincent laughed.

"Well, there was one shirt I could wear, but..." He trailed off.

"But?"

He tugged at her shirt, the hem just a little too long for her, even with her belly noticeable under the fabric.

"You're wearing my last clean shirt."

Abby flushed pink in realization. Vincent chuckled happily as he turned her around.

"Next trip out," he said, still tugging at the shirt hem. "We'll get some more shirts like mine for you to wear, since you like wearing them so much."

"J-just for doing laundry! I can still wear my regular clothes!"

"And around the apartment. And when you sleep sometimes."

"Vincent!"

"I don't mind at all," he laughed. "I think you look cute in my shirts."

Vincent pulled in closer, the scent of the rain enveloping her as his hand pressed on her belly.

"I missed you two, when I was out."

Abby smiled, holding his hand in place despite the damp spot it was creating.

"We missed you too. And I was worried.. when I heard the thunder start."

He leaned in and kissed her, droplets sliding onto her face and tickling her.

"Sorry for worrying you. It's not good to let you fret so much, schatje, especially with all these butterflies in your tummy."

"I know but I can't-" she paused, putting Vincent's hand back where it was. "You… you can feel this too? I-I thought it was just me being anxious but…"

"Abby?"

"M-maybe it's not me, but I've… I've felt this when I started talking to him earlier, t-to calm myself and-!"

Both of their eyes widened, having felt the same thing.

"He kicked…" Abby said.

"Our baby's kicking." Vincent echoed her.

"Our baby…" Abby repeated, looking up at Vincent.

He enveloped her in a tight hug, a squeak escaping her.

"Vincent! Now your last shirt is wet too!"

"Ahaha, sorry, just… our son is kicking! Kicking!"

"He is.." Abby said with a smile, not caring anymore that she's wet too. "He's kicking, Vincent."

He kissed her again, harder this time, his clammy hands rubbing over her.

"Vi-Vincent…"

"Oh, I did get my last shirt wet, didn't I?"

His chilled hands slipped under her shirt, making her jump as he pressed into her warm skin.

"You're so cold!"

"And you’re very warm, schatje."

He lifted the fabric higher, pulling it over and off of her, revealing her fully to him.

"Y-you should still get dried off first…"

"If I can keep touching you, you can dry me off. Our son is kicking, I don't want to miss this."

His cold hands pressed on her bare belly again, making her jump and shiver.

"But, I need to get you a towel…"

"Use my shirt."

"Vincent-"

He touched her again, his normally gentle blue eyes darker with need.

"Please."

Abby sighed and started to rub his hair with his shirt, humming as she got into her task.

Soon, Vincent’s hands warmed up as he looked at her, glowing with happiness. The rain had stopped outside, a little rainbow breaking through the dark clouds, illuminating the couple with warm sunlight through the window. Once Abby was done drying his hair, Vincent laid his head on her shoulder, looking down at her semi-bared form.

“Thank you,” he said quietly. “Do you still feel him kicking?”

“He’s calmed down, I think. Maybe he tired himself out?”

“Maybe.” He ran his fingers down her belly one last time, stopping when he felt it rumbling.

Abby flushed red and looked away.

“I… remembered that you’d brought home the strawberries I wanted.”

Vincent laughed and kissed her cheek.

“Well, now you both can have some strawberries, to get your strengths back up.”

“But, neither of us are wearing shirts. Nor do we have anything clean or dry to wear.”

“Easier clean up, schatje.”

“J-just be sure that the door’s locked. I don’t want the neighbors to see us like this.”

“Ja.”

Abby’s face was still red as Vincent pulled away, noting that his pants were still wet as he walked away, but felt redder at the thought of bringing it up and stayed silent with a sigh.

Different Universe, Same Love: Magic AU

"Oi! Broer! Hondje! We need to reach town before sunset! Hurry it up back there!"

"Okay, Theo!" Vincent called back, holding out his hand to the little healer mage, Abby, at his side, helping her step over a low branch that would have tripped her.

"We've still got plenty of daylight left," he reassured Abby, "Theo's just worried about us using up too much of our energy from the fighting earlier."

"How are you holding up? You used a lot of mana in that last fight against the manticore."

"I-I'm okay." she said, "I still have one more potion left in my bag so that should hold until we reach town."

"Are you sure? You look a little pale and your hand feels very warm."

"Mhmm!" She nodded with a smile.

Vincent still tightened his grip on her hand, keeping to her pace.

"This path is so beautiful…" she said absentmindedly, admiring the colorful flowers.

"Yeah," Vincent said, "if we weren't in a rush, I would have liked to paint them."

Vincent glanced ahead, seeing Theo talking to Arthur. Or bickering, with the way Theo was scowling and the eternally mischievous grin on Arthurs's face.

"But, we do need to conserve our strength and resources. Perhaps I can ask Theo if we can stay in town for a few days, so I can paint the flowers with you, if you'd like."

"Really? I would-!" She fell forward, Vincent's surprisingly strong arms for his class, catching her before she hit the ground.

"Careful!" Vincent helped her to stand upright, brushing her bangs out of her face, his hand lingering on her forehead.

"…Theo, Arthur!" He called, taking Abby's staff out of her hands. "Take our staves. Abby isn't feeling well."

"V-Vincent, I can-"

"No way, Hondje." Theo took her staff, noting her flushed cheeks. "You pass out and we're all in trouble."

"You sure you don't want one of us to carry her, mate?" Arthur offered, "Magic users aren't exactly known for having great strength-"

His words vanished on his tongue as Vincent easily into his arms with a tiny squeak from the little bird. Theo smirked.

"He might be an elemental mage, but Broer has strength to match any brawler or sword-wielder. And beat them."

"Bloody hell," Arthur whispered, staring in disbelief. "Guess… there are exceptions."

"Naturally." Theo said proudly , then turned back to Vincent. "Do you want to rest here?"

"How far off is the town?"

"We can make it there in less than an hour, if we move fast."

Vincent nodded.

"Keep an eye out for fever reducing plants, both of you. Maybe even a restoring fountain if we're lucky."

They also nodded and turned to move on ahead.

"Vincent, I… I'm so sorry…"

"Rest, schatje." Vincent said, readjusting his grip for speed and followed Theo and Arthur at a brisk pace. "We'll find an inn to recover in once we get to town. You'll be good as new then."

Abby laid her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes.

Another entry down! Only one more to go!

I know the prompt said circus/magic au, but I couldn't think of much for the circus theme, so I just went with my first thought at seeing magic, which was a sort of OG Final Fantasy kinda setting.

[Repost] Creation - Abby

Part of this set of WIP Wednesday

Wanted to put this batch out once the main post posted in time for Vincent's birthday, so here's this one again!

Raw, unedited writing, Vincent pushing away Leonardo's hand made me feel a certain way during my run of Vincent's route and now I'm writing that 'certain way' feel out, mostly fluff otherwise, Leonardo does say cavolo tho, if that's a warning.

Leonardo stood in the doorway of Vincent's room, sunlight pouring into the room, but there was something else in the room that could rival the sun in brightness and warmth.

Vincent's back was to him, his apron tied loosely around his torso. His feet were planted firmly on the floor as he sat on his stool. And if that had been the only thing of note, he might have left, to leave a fellow artist to his creation devices.

But the second set of feet, dangling between Vincent's, and a smaller hand holding onto a paintbrush in his, had the older vampire smiling with affection.

He remembered the day he had found Abby struggling to make her lines looser and how he had given her some tips, as an artist, but also to help with her general demeanor. Scrunched up like a nervous kitten wouldn't help her in the long run and he had hoped the message got across when he was teaching her.

Now, it seemed it was Vincent's turn to help her, much closer to her than he had been, sitting in his lap. Both of them were growing bolder, he thought. A natural process for Abby as she was overcoming her timidity, but she wasn't the only one growing bold. Leonardo looked at his hand, remembering when he had attempted to pat her head, something he had done countless times to encourage the little cara before, only for Vincent's hand to stop him, pushing him away from her not unlike a lover would protect his love from unwarranted advances.

He chuckled and pushed away from the door frame, closing the door fully behind him. He also couldn't help but see Vincent's hand tightening on Abby's thigh, a blue eye briefly glancing directly at him for a split second before returning his attention back to the painting session.

Even for all of his long life, Leonardo felt the briefest of chills from that single look and started walking away, lighting his cigarillo as he walked away.

"Cavolo…" he whispered, shaking his shoulders of their tension.

OC Brain Rot Introductions

After making the first post with Thea and Abby, I realized that I didn't have an intro post introducing the character or to formally address what these kind of posts are going to be about (aside what I put in Thea and Abby's first post)

OC Brain Rot (based on this post here originally) are posts where I ramble off about my OCs and what they're up to currently outside of my writings and arts. In essence, these are brain dump posts. Sometimes they might be a couple of sentences and half-formed ideas, others might go into meta involving my ocs and whichever game they are a part of. Sometimes it might also include simple screaming, you just never know.

Brain rots will also NOT be spoiler-free! I'll usually note at the top of each post if there are going to be spoilers. Content and trigger warnings will also be noted in the beginning and in the tags where applicable.

OC Brain Rot is also open to questions towards and about the OCs themselves. They might even answer your questions themselves!

I've decided that, instead of having a separate tumblr blog (since I have like four of them at this current moment in time), I'll just make little posts about the ocs on main since I'm not especially active here as I'd like to be outside of queued posts and I have answered some questions in my OC's voices on this blog before (like this one from Houki giving her opinion on IkeSen's Masamune) and would like to get back into doing something like that.

Brain rots are also mostly going to involve my otome/dating sim OCs, but everyone is also welcome to ask about my original ocs and, if you're really curious, about older ocs that I've made for other fandoms outside of the otome/dating sim ones.

Below the cut, I've also put short intros for each of my ocs as quick reference for future brain rot posts. Longer, more detailed profiles will be made at a later date, but these will serve as little reminders for where this oc is coming from when I make future oc brain rot posts.

Houki of Jiyel, "Houki"

Preferred Pronouns: She/Her

Game: Ikemen Sengoku

Suitor: Mitsunari Ishida

Age: Early 20s

Physical Description: Short stature and chubby, large, bright green eyes, long straight black hair (that looks blue in certain lights), light to medium skin, wears round glasses

Personality: Quiet, Introverted, Observant

Brief History: A transplant MC from a different game, Houki was a noble lady sent on a diplomatic mission to strengthen ties between her home nation and six other kingdoms, mainly through the means of political marriage and alliances. Her plans were interrupted when she arrived in Sengoku era Japan and is now trying to find a way back to her home world to complete her original goal.

Misc. Fact: She loves reading more than anything in the world. It is her favorite pastime and is more often than not found reading some tome at almost any point in the day.

Ophelia of Revaire, "Ophelia"

Game: Ikemen Sengoku

Suitor: Kennyo

Age: Late 20s

Physical Description: Pale skin and hair (chin length and straight, parted to her right, our left), medium height, thin and willowy, dark red eyes, chin mole towards the right side (our left) of her face

Personality: Calculating, calm, refined

Brief History: Another transplant MC from a different game (same game as Houki), she was on the same diplomatic mission as Houki, but for different reasons. Born into a poor noble family, Ophelia has spent most of her life trying to bring up her family's position, was even briefly married for the cause, but thanks to her previous husband's passing, she's needing to social climb again to keep her family afloat, thus joining in her country's call for this diplomatic mission, hoping to marry rich. Being transported to Sengoku era Japan was not on her agenda and she's definitely not happy about this new life turn.

Misc. Fact: She has eight younger siblings, six sisters and two brothers.

Dorothea "Thea" Reid

Physical Description: Fair skin with lots of freckles, esp on her face and shoulders, long reddish-brown hair that she keeps in a braid most of the time, large blue eyes, medium-tall-ish height (just shy of Theo's eye level)

Personality: Friendly, outgoing, stubborn

Brief History: A lover of history and fashion, Thea had combined her love of both and had just finished her degree to be a fashion historian, and thought to reward herself after finishing college by taking a trip to Paris! Who knew a trip to the Louvre would start her biggest adventure yet?

Misc. Fact: Always wearing something either historical or historically inspired, like long skirts and embroidered blouses.

Physical Description: Short-medium height, blonde bob/short hair that she grows longer to shoulder length as she ages, warm brown eyes, fair skin

Brief History: Escaping from a bad situation, Abby finds herself in Paris, admiring the art and history that the city has to offer. Running into a mysterious gentleman that helps her escape some hooligans, she accidentally follows him through his magical time door and ends up in the 19th century! What's a girl to do now?

Misc. Fact: Her favorite hobbies are drawing and photography, though she wasn't really able to explore them as she liked in her previous life. She thrives under the tutelage of history's greats in Comte's mansion.

Madeline "Maddie" Fleming

Physical Description: Short and curvy, greenish grey short hair that's wavy, wine red eyes, light medium skin, ears pierced (once in each lobe, and two at the top of each ear, making a total of six piercings)

Personality: Outgoing, caring, fun

Brief History: Visiting her grandparents in London, Maddie had found herself in James Park, meeting with a nice, if absent-minded gentleman. She had tried to return his lost pocket watch to him, but she accidentally follows him back to Cradle, starting her journey to unlocking powers she previously didn't know she had and to bringing peace between the two warring armies fighting over the magical wonderland she had found herself in.

Misc. Fact: Her power manifests itself mostly in non-living items. When she was younger, she made fake flowers to give to people she knew, singing to them as she worked. Her flowers would then take on characteristics she was singing about (a la Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle book version). Her flowers could make you have more luck on a test or even give you the confidence to confess to your crush! But be careful if you piss her off as her negative vibes can transfer to her targeted item and turn it cursed!

Clara Laurent

Physical Description: Medium skin tone, wavy dark brown hair usually kept in a low bun, short to medium height, pink eyes

Personality: Serious, stubborn, kind

Brief History: A ward of Mr. Akatsuki, she was taken in by bookstore owner at a young age, growing up around books and a love of learning. During a festival, she met with a few of Rhodolite's princes, their interactions watched by Sariel, the prime minister, looking for candidates to be the next Belle, a person with a pure heart that chooses the next king of their country. She is chosen for this role, using her best judgement to make the right choice for her tiny kingdom, especially with the loom threat of war on their heels.

Misc. Fact: Her favorite book series is the Midnight Cinderella saga, telling the varying adventures of a commoner chosen to rule over the fictious kingdom of Wysteria. Her favorite in the series is Byron.

Miriam "Miri"

Age: Early 20s in season 1, close to late-20s by season 4/nightbringer's timeline

Physical Description: Medium-dark skin tone, pink curly hair that gets to its longest by season 4 (which is mid back), purple to pink gradient eyes, short stature, her pact marks glow when she's actively using her pact bonds. Pact mark locations include: Chest over her heart (Lucifer), behind her right ear (Mammon), Left knee (Leviathan), Right forearm (Satan), Lower back (Asmo), Stomach above the navel (Beel), Neck right on her windpipe (Belphie). Post Season 2, she has Lucifer's Ring of Light on her left hand ring finger. Season 3 and beyond, she has her Sorcerer's Society Tattoo on the back of her right hand, along with a ring on her middle finger that signifies she's a sorcerer and a member of the Sorcerer's Society, given to her by Solomon.

Personality: Curious, kind, stubborn

Brief History: Arriving in Devildom as a little pink sheep, Miri works to find a way to turn herself back into a human, which leads her to being made an exchange student at RAD, a school-like organization run by the devildom prince Diavolo, who hopes to bring the three realms together into peaceful relations. While staying in devildom, she is taken in by a group of powerful demon brothers, former angels from the Celestial Realm fallen from grace. In order to turn herself back into a human, she needs their power and she makes pacts with each to gain their help and support. As her bonds grow stronger with the brothers, so too does her own power, coming to a realization that she is a sorcerer in later seasons, learning to control her powers and to use her powers for good and to help Diavolo's cause to bring the three realms to peace.

Misc. Fact: She loves sweets and hates spicy things. She has a healthy fear of Mammon's extra spicy ramen and refuses it every time it's offered to her. Even regular ramen makes her suspicious after having sampled Mammon's favorite once.
