You know what I would love? For someone (cough cough low-key would love if it was Eddie or bobby) were to catch buck and Tommy kissing by accident- maybe by barging into his apartment? My stance on Buck, Tommy, Buck and Tommy, and Buddie.

This is about to become an essay so... yeah, you've been warned!⚠️

So, I am a big Buddie shipper. I wasn't always, I must admit. I've been keeping a distance if you will from Slash-shipping and voicing my opinion about shipping after some sh*tty bullying from Sterek fanatics for being a big shipper of Stydia. But eventually i started reading Buddie fanfics and i was sold.

Now, with all these new developments with Buck, Tommy, and Eddie, I would now like to give my opinion about it.

Buck

Buck's bi! Or he likes boys too and kissing them! But he's queer! As a bi-curious girl, seeing this happen for him and reading the interviews with Oliver Stark about Buck's sexuality, have solidified something for me and helped me accept that it's okay to not have a label on my sexuality, that it's okay to be fluid and have opinions change, it just has to be YOUR truth. Not another one's truth. So, yeah, I'm bi-curious, not bisexual. That is my truth. If you wanna know more about it and me, my ask and messages are open! I would love to talk!

Tommy

I love him. I love the character. Even from the flashback episodes with Hen, Bobby and Chim. I like the actor a lot from his other works, especially Sgt. Rocker from S.W.A.T., though there, I had to warm up to him, tbh.

But, Tommy. Tommy is good guy. I genuinely believe that. Of course, we don't know much about him, other than he's formerly been apart of the 118, now at the 127, he's someone who likes to help out (when chim called him to help out the 118 with a fire in a neighbourhood and with flying the team out in to a HURRICANE to save Bobby and Athena), and apparently he likes Twilight 😉

I know that we found out in the latest episode that he was also in the army, knows muay thai, but you know that I mean. Bottomline (so far), I love Tommy Kinard!

Buck & Tommy

Buck and Tommy as a pairing is a surprise that i didn't see coming, but a happy and welcoming one. I love this ship. For me, it makes sense. Tommy is the right person for Buck for right now. I hope that they get the rest of the season together, where Tommy can guide, teach, cuddle, show Buck "the ropes" and just be there for him through this new stage in Buck's life. Buck needs that, in my opinion. Buck needs Tommy.

This relationship with Tommy is what I believe to be a part of Buck’s discovery and journey towards Buddie.

The Buddie of It All

For me, Buddie is endgame, no doubt about it.

But, while it's been a long time already, I don't want it to happen RIGHT NOW. Buck only just realised that he likes boys too and kissing them. Eddie is DEFINITELY not there yet.

Which is why, again, I think Tommy is good for Buck now. If they went with Buddie straight away, something would just be not right. It wouldn't make any sense.

Eddie needs to have his own discovery and journey.

In the Future

I hope The Powers That Be make it so that this season (season 7) is about Buck and his discovery and journey, with the season maybe ending with Eddie having his and then season 8 (YAY!! Thank you ABC!) can be his journey, so we end season 8 with Buddie actually happening.

This, for me, should absolutely NOT be rushed. There needs to be a journey for both Buck and Eddie before Buddie happens. Tommy will be a part of Buck’s journey and I actually hope that Eddie will get his own Tommy to help him through his journey.

Yes, it's been 6 seasons already, but neither Buck nor Eddie are ready for Buddie yet, no matter how much us fans are.

i realize i recently made a post talking about how amazing multishipping is and i still stand by that. i’ll probably continue to stand by that but for the love of god, if you are going to talk negatively about or trash a ship, tag your post correctly.

i’ve been scrolling the buddie tag for about five minutes and i’ve seen nothing but pro bucktommy posts trashing buddie and vise versa.

i’m happy for the bucktommy shippers, truly. i just don’t want to see it in the buddie tag. anti tags exist for a reason.

Have we talked about the NEGATIVE SPACE in this scene, from the leadup of the kiss all the way to after the kiss?

Negative space in film is often used to direct focus onto an object, or to show scale (like when you have a small figure in a wide landscape), but in close-ups like this, it's often used in a metaphorical sense.

You'd expect Buck to be centered here; Tommy is mostly centered, or more centered than Buck when the camera is on him. Buck, however, only covers the left half of the frame most of the time.

So what does that mean? Well, it could very well mean what many of you are probably thinking - the Eddie-shaped elephant in the room; the one whose attention Buck was trying to get, the one Tommy literally is a mirror/foil for. The one mentioned several times here throughout the scene while not being physically present.

What it can also mean - either alternatively or additionally - is that things are simply off center. That can be in a good way or bad way. Buck's word is about to be turned upside down, so that would convey the unease (in a more positive than negative sense) he's feeling.

So yeah, there are many nuances in which this could be read, but what's certain is that this was a choice. Something being 'off' or missing here - or simply aligning itself in a different direction (i.e. different side of his romantic and sexual interests).

Either way, I found it super interesting, and unlike many other details, it was something I spotted from the start but was still to dhuglsdhglsdhgsldgh about this all to make a proper post on it, lol.

I think Tommy and Buck have chemistry for what the relationship is supposed to be. And that's Tommy taking a baby gay along to show him the way. The kiss was exactly that in my opinion. He was gentle then checked for consent twice. The sort of took over with assertiveness. Made the plans. Definitely the date just in that small snippet showed a whole lot in how inexperienced Buck is.

So I'm willingly to ride it out because I know it leads to Buddie end game. And nobody else will ever have the chemistry Ryan and Oliver do.

Totally agree like the chemistry is up and down but it makes sense in their context 100% and it’s definitely present in the kiss scene, idk how sure Tommy was that buck is new to dating men but I think post kiss it’s definitely more evident (plus we know he flat out tells him at the date)

I loved that kiss tho like go script and intimacy coordinator and go Oliver and lou- like the chin tilt and the check in are just👌also loved how post episode interviews they legit made a point of explaining how they needed for Tommy to kiss buck but to do it in a way that like he’s not a predator like we gotta give them their due it’s a tough scene to act/write and they did it in a way that was both assertive (on Tommys end) and yet gentle and sweet so legit all the kudos to them all

spoilers for 9-1-1 ep 7x04 this is the start of a fic i wanna write but i thought i'd share just this lil snippet bc it's bi buck day!!!!

Buck collapses back against his island and just barely restrains himself from lifting a hand to his lips like he’s fourteen again, getting his first kiss from a dare at a birthday party. He just kissed Tommy. Or, well, Tommy kissed him. He kissed back, though, kissed back and reached out to pull Tommy closer. Buck closes his hand around nothing. He remembers the firmness of Tommy's shoulder under his palm, the smell of his skin, the surprising softness of his lips. Buck doesn’t know why he’s so surprised about how soft Tommy’s lips are. Maybe because of flying? All that wind must chap someone’s lips. Maybe Tommy carries around ChapStick. He must. Otherwise how would he keep his lips so—

Knock-knock.

Buck blinks out of his ChapStick spiral. Another knock at his door? What now?

He shakes himself out of his stupor before walking over. Anyone knocking on his door at this time of night would have a good reason, like an emergency or a kiss, and Buck’s already gotten one of those tonight. He knows he’s smiling stupidly at the thought of it but he can’t help it. Tommy kissed him.

He’s still smiling stupidly as he opens up the door and he’d be embarrassed about it but he’s too happy to care, and then he just smiles wider because standing there, panting slightly and a little sheepish, is Tommy.

Tommy returns Buck’s smile. “I have PTO saved,” he says without a formal greeting. “Ruiz still owes me a favor from our fantasy football league. He’ll cover me.”

Stupid butterflies kick around in Buck’s chest. “Oh.”

“If you want company.”

Buck’s heart rabbits in his chest. He just kissed a guy for the first time in his life and he’s not entirely sure what it means, and he’s also supposed to call Eddie and apologize for being a dick even though he doesn’t know how to explain himself without getting into the whole I-might-like-dudes thing, and he’d already been kind of tired before Tommy came over so he was kind of thinking he’d just head to sleep, but—

“Yes,” he says, because if there’s one thing he’s sure of, it’s that he wants Tommy to keep looking at him. “Yes, I do.”
