calling it right now that season 3 starts like this
#so confused about people saying the season finale feels like the end because to me it didn't at all#there's like 5-10 issues immediately set up for another season#they're in a happy place at this point because they've both realized their love is bigger than anything else#and makes it worth working on their problems together#the problems are still very much there#both of them have deep self esteem/self loathing issues that haven't been resolved in the week since ed woke up#ed doesn't know about stede's trauma#they haven't talked through anything#and they'll be shit at starting/running an inn lmao it's not gonna go well#and those are just some of the internal issues#then there's prince ricky and all the authorities that would very much like to get their hands on both blackbeard and stede bonnet#because stede just full-on kept using his government name after faking his death. nice one#the crew are not “gone” they're more like off to college for a bit but will probably run into trouble immediately#again because while they escaped to the ship they didn't eliminate the threat (the british empire)#it's not a forever goodbye#ok this got super long already anyway i have a whole fic marinading in my brain until i've finished these 4 wips i'm in the middle of ✌️#hope we get a renewal soon because i want to see the rest of their story!!#ofmd s2 spoilers#ofmd s2#ofmd#our flag means death

whenever ryou is described as "polite", I always thought, in terms of jp, that that meant he uses polite speech (aka keigo) regardless of whom hes talking to. iirc the english version of the manga, which I read many years ago, didnt (or cant) really reflect this nuance accurately, so I took that information at face value for the longest time.
now that Im rereading the series in jp (currently on volume 6 of the bunkobons, which means ryous only been around for 3 volumes), Ive discovered that... ryous speech is pretty casual. almost on par with yugi's, actually. the most glaring difference between them is yugi infrequently adds the masculine assertive particle/indicator ぜ at the end of his sentences
and sometimes fuses his vowels (ie. どう → どー).
Im still early into the series tho (duelist kingdom) and Im not sure if yugi stops doing so later on (aka battle city onwards). btw in the DM anime, these mannerisms were only done by atem (which is also markedly different in the manga). I also dont know if ryous speech pattern changes as the series goes on but we'll see! I doubt it tho.
one thing I found quite funny tho is this scene!
JOUNOUCHI: Whoa!! You're still carrying that dangerous thing around!!
RYOU: It's fine! As long as I don't wear it, it's harmless!
ryou uses なけりゃ which is the colloquial/informal form of なければ (meaning "not"). and then he tacks on だもん at the end, which is cutesy/childish (like, "you know!", "come on!", or "listen now!") and expresses dissatisfaction.
so hes being quite petulant/indignant here 🤭 and, well, it says quite a bit about how attached he is to the ring.
if we take ryous words literally, what hes saying is,
"It's fine! If I don't wear it, it's a plain thing, you know!"
but anyway, what Ive learned through my reread is ryou is decent at best, very mild-mannered, and doesnt quite fit the idea of "polite" Ive been led to believe. I mean, he occasionally has a sharp tongue but its not like hes throwing out DA★ZE in his sentences like every other character around him who uses rough language lmao

I really do hope Glammike is canon because I just love the sheer dichotomy of the fatherly, superstar sweet Glamreddy, and the inferentially angsty teen energy that Michael brings
Like, idk when these sorts of situations would pop up, but I find it really funny if like, idk, FazEnt just found Burntrap or smth in the ruins, and just decided to make him a new spooky character to pander for the teens? (this all is going somewhere, I swear)
speaking of swearing, like, what if his area is right next to freddy's green room or something, and they know that they're Michael and William Afton, so then when they pass eachother in Rockstar Row, its like
"Father."
"Michael."
"......So are ya leavin?? Get the F--- outta my sight-"
"-gasp- William!"
"???? What???"
"There are children around!"
And then William has a flashback to a memory where Michael is in Fredbear's or something, and he stubs his toe and he swears like a sailor and then he just goes

“How was it large enough to fit in one direction but too narrow in the other…??” Well, it's easy! As was demonstrated by Prof. Shadoko in his Shadok Logic (or Logique des Passoires), you only need for the circumference of the hole that the PVC surrounds to be both larger in one direction and smaller in the other than Pirlouit's leg. Hope that helps.
I love you for randomly bringing up Shadok logic! I actually dug up my old Shadok VHS tapes a few years ago and added English subtitles to a bunch of episodes, so my English-speaking kid cousins could discover the series...
For people who don't know this monument of French culture, the Shadoks is an absurdist anti-educational children's programme about bird-shaped aliens whose logic is too evolved to be understood by mere humans.

Rope MF is one of the best Kirby OCs I’ve seen in a while. I love how he simultaneously is silly but also not a joke.
I can’t tell if you actually mean it or if it’s a joke that’s flying over my head, but thank you!!!
Focusing on the topic:
He is no joke, my guy swings on rope 24 hours a few days a week. Like I said in my previous post, probably have a crazy sleeper build.
Like if Bandana Waddle Dee was able to crack the planet at the beginning of his career, just imagine what Rope MF could do
Going into Rope MF origins when being created:
It’s funny you say that their not a joke because originally that what they were!
Rope MF was a joke character in a game concept I had where Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight were all captured and Bandana Dee had to save the day.
It would’ve been a turned-based rpg where you had different waddle dees to join your party and Rope MF was one of them. Because while I was looking at the different types of waddle dees I just found it funny that swinging waddle dee was a type of waddle dee. Rope MF would’ve been one of the weakest member of your party because all he had was a rope, and you can’t do much with that. But then I grew fond of the idea of if you had him in your party the whole time, and if you complete his side quests he’d be one of your most powerful asset (imagine Terry from Lisa the Painful).

This was the second drawing when Bandana Dee completes his arc of not being ashamed of being a waddle dee. He then goes on an entire rant about how each Waddle Dee was special, and I included Rope MF because I thought it was funny:

I'm working at a restaurant in France rn, and today an English speaking customer asked our cook what was in today's soup. Our cook didn't know how to say "pumpkin" in English and he must've forgotten I was like Right There. His brain did connect the dots of pumpkin - > Halloween tho. So in a fit of panic (or genius) he simply yelled :
"HALLOWEEN. HALLOWEEN"

Seeing Lou and Siobhan fight over whether raspberry mustard or grape jelly is more weird is so funny because I have never heard of either of these things.
This season is just The Most cultural study into both American culture and British culture, because this is like the fifth thing to come up this season where Siobhan is weirded out by American culture and the others are in return weirded out by whatever British thing Siobhan brings up to counter and I am just sitting there, weirded out by both but also deeply fascinated by them.
