Now i know Jay Park has said some dumb BS in the past, but the way the newer kpop fans hate on him is so fucking corny 😅 they talk about him as if he’s a nugu and that their kpop groups are much more successful without even knowing all of jays history and successes. Sometimes I wish kpop wasn’t as mainstream as it is now, mainly because of the newer fans and their attitude towards the senior artists. Like when they called blackpink as the first Korean act to play at Coachella - even though hyukoh and Epik high performed before them. But anyways, I’m rambling lol..
Yeahm I agree. They say so much stupid, disrespectful shit. Like they were trying to clown BoA of all people when she did that unit with SM girls! BOA!!!!! The same boa who did the US career before ANYBODY!!! The same Boa who was so popular in Japan that some of us knew about her for her songs being anime ending theme songs before we even knew what KPOP WAS!!!!!???? The same BoA who was a legend before she even hit 30?!?!?! Also, she can outsing and outdance most of the current people when dancing wasn't even as important back then. The dances were not even close to being as elaborate as they are now and yet she was still SERVING great choreography throughout ALL of the gens! The "Only One" dance?!?!?!?! I don't know much about dance but I feel like I see some of the same complexity and polishedness in her early dances as I do in current kpop. But anyway, moving on.
And yes, Epik High was the first from what I remember!
Like I don't know much about Gen 1 kpop but I NEVER opened my mouth to say anything bad. A lot of the groups aren't my thing but I know none of the 2nd or 3rd gen would have been possible without them.
As for Jay (funny you bring him up. I just got done editing a video where I say pretty much what I'm about the say next LOL), he has a LOT of things to criticize, but I'm never gonna outright LIE on his name! He has A LOT of accomplishments and he's very well-respected as an artist and CEO. I wish people would just stick to the REAL issues with him instead of giving people ammo to say people are "just hating".

Personally I love the TAN stylist work. She worked with A.C.E as well and has such an interesting eye for patterns and colours and silhouettes and I love how batshit insane they can get. Like she is not a bad stylist at all - there is clearly a thought process behind it and connection between outfits (usually through pattern, material, or colour) to show a unified group. They just don’t look “cool” or “trendy” in the way a lot of fans expect nowadays, which makes me sad lol like you all should embrace creativity! Brings me back to the deranged exuberance of 2nd/early 3rd gen where stylists dgaf about fans constantly whining about omg my faves looked bad - let them look silly!! Embrace fun!! It suits their concepts!! It’s about committing to the bit!!
i’m glad there’s people out there that enjoy tan’s styling !! i am just not one of those people!! but taste is subjective, fashion isn’t about everyone liking it, i do respect that they commit to the bit, and i simply would die if my son was getting dressed like a second gen idol on the reg like ngl i do want him to get to look cool and and on trend LOL like this can all be true ALSJSJSJ

Please vote for which song you think is better! If you haven't already, make sure to listen to both songs under the read more before voting. Propaganda is encouraged, but please do not be negative in doing so. This is meant to be a fun tournament!
youtube
Luna is Oneus's 2nd most viewed MV! This is one of the few kpop songs that i would say is a masterpiece with its incredible pacing and great mix of traditional and modern Korean music. I also really love the choreography, especially when they use the fans in it!
youtube
This song brings back the style and swag of early 3rd gen boy group bangers with its rapping, audio effects and instrumentals! This song's potential in the competition is limitless!

HQ 2nd gen Story teaser - CH5
(2035 - Sota Bokuto 2nd year, 15 turning 16)
Spring had sprung in the land of Japan. The flower blossoms bloomed and so do the want to up his game on the court.
Bokuto Sota thought there wouldn't be much he could change to become better, but he asked around looked online and would practice something's he saw and thought looked cool to pull of. Starting 2nd year of High this March, stresses him to only study and practice more, Thanks to some new first years on the team.
But it never seemed to be able to get his anywhere. He wasn't improving at all and it was starting to be come frustrating. Until his parents found the stress had become too much, Sota.
He was left crying in his room one night, unknown to him, his parents heard at his door.
***
With summer now around the corner, they were invited by the Kageyama family to spend some time in Miyagi and the Bokuto's thought it was a fantastic idea, perfect to give their son the vaccination he needed.
(2035 - Kageyama Twins 3rd year of Junior high 13 Turing 14)
"Yes we would love to come see you Shoyo!" Kotaro yelled into the phone, getting scolded by Tobio on the other end, he chuckled.
"To be honest, Sota could really use some time with friends, he works really hard and I think with his sudden early presenting, school study, his part time job and his desperation for progression with Volleyball, he really need a break right now." The tone in his dad's voice shifted. It wasn't something he heard often, the fatigue crack.
Looking out of the sliver of the door from his dark room, looking right into the Living room. Sota only saw the back of his dad's head, as he sat on the couch talking on the phone.
Kotaro's shoulders and head would usually be out, straightened, Spikey two-toned hair, looking proud and joyful of everything he has around him. But this, Kotaro's shoulders hunched forward, droopy hair and head hung low. Sota could hear the frown on his face, almost bringing him to tears. He could smell all the sadness his dad seemed to be able to hide so well.
'Sudden Early presenting. Is he upset that I didn't turn out like him?' Sota thought to himself. 'That can't be it right... And I have friends, plenty of them.'
That was a lie. He knew, if someone asked him, if he had friends and to be completely honest about it. His head would hang low too. Because he knew that he didn't. At least those who Sota thought was his friends, wouldn't say the same about him. All he had was his family.
Not even most of his volleyball team liked him much. Finding it annoying always asking them spike more of his tosses, when it was time to go home, they all hated it, so.
'Maybe because I am not like them, that they want to hang out with me.' As most the team turned out to be Betas and some Alphas. But that was only the 3rd years... that was still quite a few people.
It's not his fault, that he presented this early.
He wasn't meant to present until towards the end of the year, his birthday. And all that in itself started to bring him unwanted attention while walking in the halls. Something he hadn't told his parents, the sudden change in the behaviors of his peers. He was being harassed, same as some of the older Omega's at school and the girls and teachers he knew so well.
"Thank you, we can't wait to see you again!" Tuning back into to his Dad's voice as he was happy again, hanging up the phone and turns to see Keiji walking in sitting down next to his husband, Kotaro laying his head on the Omega's shoulder as his hands run through the soft Alphas locks.
"I'm scared for him Keiji. Our son." Sota still starring through the door, sighs and closed it.
Shuffling back to the pile of clothes and blankets, he calls a nest, snuggling right around a plushie of the MSBY mascot. It was his favorite thing he ever got from his parents, smells just like them.
Life went on. Stress levels seemed to sky rocket, trying to get through, school work piling up, studying for setter, getting a new coach trying to play to his new style and with first years. Mid terms.
He cried ever night, trying to stay strong and get through the rough time, but soon.
The day had come, The Bokuto's packing their bags for a summer week in Miyagi.
The trip down wasn't long, but being stuck in a car, for so many hours at a time, always felt longer then they were to Sota.
Soon they arrived, Sota had fallen asleep in the back, so his dad woke him up, told him they made it and the Kageyama family all came running out of the house.
"Kotaro! Keiji! Little Sota! Welcome." The orange hair man says hands up open wide, greeting the tired family.
"Sota-nii Sota-nii." The two boys ran and jumped up onto they older teen. "Hi guys it has been awhile." He chuckled hugging them back, they slink off of him.
The two families bring in their bags from the car and show Sota to the spare room where he would be sleeping for the week, they parents off doing the same.
"Man it so lucky you are a single child I would kill to have my own room." One of the twins say as they helped Sota unpack done of his stuff dispute his asking them not to. He shrugged it off and continued with what he was doing. "It's not as good as you think." He sighs looking off to the side placing down more of his clothes on the bed. "I feel more lonely then I have ever been since I presented, I'm not allowed to sleep in the same room as anyone anymore." He glances over at the two, listening closely.
"It just sucks." The older teen tells them. "I'm sure it'll get better Sota." The red head twin, Shun, pats him on the shoulder awkwardly. "Thanks Shun." he chuckled holding his hand for a moment.
***
Thinking back to his team, everything was the opposite now from what it used to be. The black haired teen lowers his head, watching his feet not looking where he was going, when a voice called out from behind him. "Yo. Featherhead watch out!" Getting his attention, Sota looking over his shoulder saw something coming his direction, but didn't have time to move, only turning around full, when it hit him, making the teen fall backwards into the concrete.
Now on the ground with this something on top of his chest and upon opening his eyes saw it was another person. From this angle he could only see the back of their head, but the halo of the sun made it seem to glow, the head of golden yellow locks.
Sota, with a flushed face, reached down and lightly ran his hand through it. "It's so soft." He spoke to himself, the heat rushing from his cheeks to his ears, a lightless in his heart washed all over him.
-----
I have finished and I do have a comic about what happens a bit later in this up on Instagram right now. As this story will be how Sota meets his friends and future boyfriends Ena and Kinhoshi.

i'm sorry for not wording my thoughts properly, i don't even stan shinee so i wasn't trying to make excuses for them. my ask was mostly about 2nd gen and early 3rd gen idols, and i genuinely wasn't trying to paint them as brainwashed victims, what i meant to say is that these issues aren't individual issues and a lot of idols ended up internalizing those views because they're judged by harsh standards. but this isn't an excuse and when i said that we should have a conversation and make a change i genuinely wasn't talking about your blog i was referring to fandoms and their interactions with their favorite idols. because a lot of fandoms tend to bury these scandals and only bring them up when it's convenient to them. i don't think idols these days have any excuses because they have a lot of global fans, but back then a lot of 2nd gen idols were openly colorist and fatphobic and they would make offensive jokes on tv and get away with it because colorism and fatphobia are common problems in south korea and yes not all koreans are like that i'm not trying to make generalizations but the fact that they got away with it and didn't get criticized for it shows me that joking about people's skin tones and weight was an acceptable thing to do, and i heard so many stories from koreans these days talking about people, even strangers on the street, mocking their skin tones and weight unprovoked. so basically all i wanted to say is that these issues are not individual issues, and idols should be criticized for it by their fans and when i said "productive conversation" i genuinely meant that fans should discuss it instead of letting it slip under the rug and only bring it up during fanwars. i know it isn't your responsibility to reform the south korean society i apologize if my words came across as that
Thank you for rephrasing ❤
It's a sentiment that has been suggested by a lot of people which really irks me because of the slippery slope towards orientalist roboticism of that line of thinking. These issues definitely aren't localised to individuals and I hope everyone who keeps up with my blog knows that I condemn both the individuals who perpetuate this and the society that allows it to be perpetuated.
Semi-related, did you know how the introduction of American TV to the islands of Fiji is purported to have caused an increase in disordered eating?
If you want to have a conversation on the pervasiveness of fatphobia and colorism in Korea and what everyone can do to improve the situation, both domestically and internationally, then I think we need to broaden the scope of what is being discussed. Korea and its societally held beauty standards are more than just K-pop, as I'm sure everyone here knows!

BNHA Generational Timeline Theory
Key for the above graph:
Blue items are related to the generational timeline itself and how I defined it
Orange items are related to One for All and its holders
Black items are not related to either
Diamonds are used to indicate birthdays
Arrows are used to indicate other events
The reason I started this from 2000 is because Office Timeline forced me to use real-world dates, so I went with 2000 because that’s pretty much the closest I could get to starting from a Year 0.
Tagging people who’d be interested in this: @owlf45 @pocketramblr @cyber-phobia
Writeup under the readmore
Assumption 1: A “Generation,” as referred to in the phrase “X Generation Quirk,” is in reference to the number of “social” generations (typically a 25-30 year period) since “Year 0,” the year the Glowing Baby was born, and that the Glowing Baby was in fact the first person born with a quirk.
I’ll be using 30 year long generations for this, due to the fact that with 25 year generations the timeline breaks right around the time All Might gets OfA. (Long story short, 40 years would be too far back for AfO to be “over a century old” before Yagi goes to America, like Gran says he is in All Might Rising.)
So to start with, we know Inko is 42 years old and 4th generation, so by extension Izuku (who’s 16) is 5th gen.
Assumption 2: Based on the fact that Present Mic and Meatball kid bring up the Quirk Singularity when discussing how powerful the kids in the Remedial Class chapters are, it can be inferred that those kids supposed to be the start of the 6th gen.
These children are in primary school, and based off the school’s name (translated “precocious brat”) I’d say they’re probably 6 or 7 years old, (children start in primary school at 6 in Japan,) meaning that the current timeline is approximately 7 years past the start of the 6th generation, which gives us an almost exact timeframe of 157 years to build an actual timeline in.
Generation - Years from Year 0 / X Years ago
1st gen - 0-30/ 157-127
2nd gen - 30-60 / 127-97
3rd gen - 60-90 / 97-67
4th gen - 90-120 / 67-37
5th gen - 120-150 / 37-7
6th gen - 150-157 / 7 or less
So, going back up to our other examples, Izuku was born 9 years before the end of Gen 5, or 21 years into it, meaning he’s a mid/late 5th gen child, and Inko was born 6 years before the end of the 4th generation.
Assumption 3: All for One was born during Year 0. I don’t have direct proof, but he was already an adult during the societal breakdown part of the Dawn of Quirks, so it is reasonable to assume he also was an early 1st gen quirk user.
Daruma Ujiko is over 120, so he’s early 2nd generation/maybe late 1st, meaning AfO would be in his 80s when he meets the doc, who’s in his 50s, around 70 years ago. I’d also like to point out just how convenient it is for AfO that Ujiko would just so happen to be rendered completely destitute, and thus devote himself and his longevity quirk to AfO, right around the time old age could do the supervillain in. And how now, AfO is pulling this potential body hopping stunt with Tomura at nearly 160 years old, which, since Ujiko’s quirk “doubles [his] life span” according to the official translation, would mean AfO is, on an adjusted scale, right around 80 again.
In fact, I’ll go even farther and say that if you regard the circumstances that led to Tenko Shimura coming under AfO’s care as suspicious, you should also regard the circumstances that he met Ujiko under with that same suspicion, because it’s the same exact pattern:
1. Individual has some aspect of their life that could attract AfO’s attention (Being Nana’s grandson, being a prominent quirk researcher with a longevity quirk.)
2. Tragedy befalls them, leaving them destitute, adrift, and isolated
3. Nobody is willing to help them
4. Except for AfO
5. An act which very much is to his own benefit
Anyways, enough about AfO, let’s discuss One for All. AfO and Yoichi are both adults when OfA is created, so it was likely made approximately 30 years after Year 0. I suspect for symbolic reasons it was around 32 years, so that OfA would be exactly 125 years old now, and that’s the reason it’s “reaching singularity” for Izuku, but again I have no direct proof for or against that.
Now we know All Might went to UA, and there’s never been anyone quirkless in their hero course, meaning he got One for All before then, likely at 15 like Izuku. Chapter 304 confirmed he’s had it 40 years, so he’s probably almost 56.
Also, since he had OfA for 40 of its 125 years, that means all of the previous holders, excluding Shinomori, would have had it about 66 years total, for an average of 11 years between all 6 of them.
Except that the revelation that Second and Third rescued Yoichi together and that they’re probably all around the same age makes it more likely that they had it for less than 10 years each, (because iirc it’s kind of implied that Shinomori was the only holder to reach 40,) and everyone else had it for longer. In that case, the most you can take off of their cumulative total is ~15 years, with a 7-9 year average being more reasonable, because otherwise you would be putting Daigoro, En, and Nana too close to, or even over, 18 years each.
So an approximate timeline for when they each had it could look something like this:
Holder: Years from Year 0/X years ago, how long they had OfA (Age they received OfA)
Yoichi: 32~38 / ~125~119 years ago, 6 years
Second: 38~45 / 119~112, 7 years
Third: 45~53 / 112~104, 8 years
Shinomori: 53~71 / 104~86, 18 years (Got OfA at 22)
Daigoro: 71~85 / 86~72, 14 years
En: 85~100 / 72~57, 15 years
Nana: ~100-116 / ~57-41, 16 years
AM: 116-156 / 41-1 year ago, 40 years (Likely got OfA at 15)
Izuku: 156-157 / 1 year ago to now, 1 year (Got OfA at 15, but we already knew that)
As you can see, we also can calculate how old Shinomori was when he received OfA. Unfortunately we don’t really have enough information to do this with any of the other holders other than All Might. But there is something else we can get into about them.
Let’s look at the quirks and lives of the earliest holders for a minute.
Yoichi - Was given the stockpile quirk by AfO
Second - Based off his support items, he probably had a long-range quirk, and his life-or-death attitude towards battle makes the prospects of someone surviving seeing his (at this point) minor strength enhancement very low
Third - Let’s face it, Fa-Jin would be the perfect cover for One for All
Shinomori - Vanished into the woods for almost 20 years
Which leads us to Daigiro: Blackwhip is by his own admission, already a top grade quirk. Add in a not-insignificant strength enhancement, and you have a quirk that’s a beacon for a supervillain who can literally steal them. Also, it’s confirmed that AfO has only tried to take OfA from someone who currently had it twice; Once from Daigoro, and once from En.
Therefore I posit the following hypothesis: That AfO did not know about OfA’s existence until he tried to take Blackwhip and instead got a face full of his brother’s ghost.
It also adds another reason for AfO to seek out Ujiko, (who we know knows about OfA) because he would have found him only a couple of years after mostly killing Daigoro. (But incidentally leaving him alive long enough to pass on his brother’s quirk.) That is that he didn’t just find him for his longevity quirk, or because he agreed with the singularity theory and saw it becoming a problem in general, but also because he had a perfect example of a quirk on the fast track to singularity for Ujiko to study and plan around.
Finally, I have a few other points that aren’t directly related to any of these other ones, but I still figured out anyways.
First, we have some information about Nana’s family. Kotaro was 32 before he died when Tenko was 5, and we know Tomura’s 21 now, which means Kotaro would be 52 years old (~4 years younger than All Might) if he were alive today. Knowing this, it’s likely that AfO killed his father and Nana subsequently gave him away in the latter half of her time with OfA.
Also, it is worth noting that Tenko killed his family 16 years ago, which would be the same year Izuku was born.
The Meta Liberation Army had been in hiding “for generations” when ReDestro was a child, and since there’s no way he’s not in his 40’s bare minimum, (the man is balding for god’s sake) that means he’s 4th gen, and the only way things work out is if Destro was 1st gen and the Liberation War was during the 2nd gen, or maybe early 3rd. Likewise, Compress mentions that he’s Oji Harima’s great-great-grandson, and since he’s confirmed 32, that means that the Peerless Thief was also 1st gen. Both of these probably seem obvious without the math, but at the same time it’s also not evidence that this is wrong.

Can I request a prompt #37 with Karl Jacobs? I love your writing btw :)
Ring(s)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The four times Karl tried to propose and the one time he actually did.
- Karl Jacobs x gen!neutral reader!
- Prompts: 37) "Are you proposing?!"
⚠︎ swearing, fluff, angst if you squint and a rushed ending. I didn't proofread either
an// TYSM FOR LIKING MY WORK 😭ALSO Thanks for requesting and sorry this came out so late! Hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
To say that Karl loved you was an understatement. He adored you and practically worshipped the ground you stood on. He is so respectful, which is a major upgrade from your other boyfriends, and loves you for who you are. You didn't have to put on a facadè at all during the 3 years you two have dated.
This love wasn't a one way thing. You loved him just as much, or even more, than he did. Everything he did you supported, you were always cheering him on from wherever you were. You were here for the good and the bad, and he was too. You two never shyed away from admiting your love and support. You could write a essay on each thing you love about Karl.
The idea of marriage came up during a late night dinner at Denny's. The idea came so naturally to you, so it surprised Karl that you didn't tense up. Karl was tense when bringing up the topic of marriage, so when you said "Yeah, I wanna get married to you one day." so casually it caught him off gaurd.
You two had already talked about marriage time and time again, but this time Karl wanted to take the initiative. He was ready to get married and since the marriage talk was just a few months ago it was fresh in his mind. Karl could vividly imagine you walking down the aisle towards him looking angelic. He could see everything now and he wanted those daydreams to become a reality. He wanted to physically feel your hands against his as you two say "I do" to one another.
He couldn't stop thinking about settling down in a nice house with you. Karl already bought a ring for you and always has it with him. Now he justs needs to figure out how to tell you.
1st proposal: Fireworks
"THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE FIREWORK IN THE ENTIRE WORLD-"
You blocked out Jimmy's yelling as you sat in a lawn chair in the middle of the woods. Karl had invited you to a MrBeast video shoot because he thought it would be a great early 4th of July. It was late at night and slightly cool outside, so you were wearing a MrBeast hoodie Karl was wearing earlier. You zoned out as the boys talked to the camera over and over again, taking multiple shots.
You found yourself looking at Karl most of the time you sat there and you always caught his gaze towards you. Every time you caught him looking at you, you sent him a small wave or blow him a kiss and every time he sent a shy wave back or sent a more exaggerated kiss back.
During halfway through the shooting you begrudgingly had to move your lawn chair further and further away from your original spot. Karl always checked up on you before and after each firework set were blown up. He has been acting fidgety around you and you didnt know why. When you tried to confront him about it he would always turn away and go back to the boys without a glance back, and his hands in his pockets.
You loved watching the guys play with so many different types of fireworks, this was a great 4th of July for you, but you wished that Karl was sitting next to you feeling the bliss that you were.
You were currently sitting behind bulletproof glass while the guys had a control panel on their lap. Karl kept sending glances towards you and you looked at him and smiled whishing he was next to you and not over by the guys. You knew it was selfish, but he invited you here.
Karl kept bouncing his leg, he kept his hand in his pocket which held the ring. He kept sending glances towards you, knowing he should be on one knee right about now. Jimmy was about to fire off the last rocket of the night and Karl couldn't seem to go over and ask you to marry him. He knew he was hilding himself back which made him hate himself. You deserved a good night and he hoped you enjoyed the fireworks, but he knew on the ride back he would have to apologize.
He stayed with the boys as they went to go see the fireworks they would be setting off soon. Once they came back they were all about to press the button to set off the expensive fireworks they counted down from 5 and he looked towards you. You were standing up with your arms crossed, hopefully shielding yourself from the cold, and looking towards the fireworks that were going to burst. They finally pressed the button the fireworks went off.
Each burst of light in the air sent a glow onto your smiling face. Karl sent a somber glace and marveled in how the explosion of the fireworks sent a beautiful glow around you.
This wasnt the right time. Next time.
2nd proposal: Donuts
"Im sorry for last night." Karl apologized as you both took a seat at a booth by the window at the small coffee and donut shop.
This was supposed to be an apology for the last failed proposal. Instead of spending time with you, he kept his distance which was the opposite of what he really wanted to do. This was a way to spend much needed time with eachother, but this was also another attempt at a proposal.
Karl wanted to hide the ring in the middle of a donut so when you inevitably look at it when he hands it to you, you'll see the ring and then he'll propose right there. To him it seemed flawless.
You never wanted a huge proposal. You didnt want that much attention on you when your future significant other would propose. Something simple would be the ideal proposal and you've hinted that many times to Karl and right now he was listening. There were only two other couples in the small diner because others were picking up donuts and leaving. If he decided to get down on one knee it would cause a scene.
You stayed silent for a moment looking at Karl before deciding to speak.
"It's no problem. Please dont stress out about it." You smiled softly and he smiled back at you. "I mean the fireworks were beautiful, but you all were screaming too much."
You both laughed as you both recalled that night in the desert.
"Yeah I just didn't..I didn't really talk to you all night. I feel bad." Karl said fiddling with his hands.
"Its in the past Karl. And I still know you love me." You reached out to grab both of his hands and hold his cool hands in yours.
"I do love you." He whispered for only you to hear leaving both of you smiling ear to ear.
"What kind of donuts you want?" Karl asked looking into your eyes carefully.
You thought about it for a while before speaking up. "I'll keep it simple. Icing with sprinkles. Surprise me with the icing color!" You exclaimed while letting go of his hands for a second.
Once you two let go of eachothers hands he immediately went to his pocket and played with the velvet box. He nodded his head and without a word he stood up to meet the cashier behind the display box of donuts. He ordered only one donut as you said with orange icing this time.
He paid for the food and stayed at the counter where he paid. Karl looked back to see if you were paying attention to him only to see you looking out the window at the people passing by. Karl smiled at the sight knowing he really wants to marry you one day and then he looked down at the glistening ring inside of the box.
Karl was supposed to put the ring in the middle of the donut that was laying alone on a napkin on the counter. He started to think of the possibilities of what could happen. What if you didn't see the ring and crumble the ring with the napkin and throw it away? What if you accidentally put the ring in your mouth? What if you weren't hungry anymore?
He looked over again to where you were looking at him giving him the same smile you gave during the fireworks. Karl sighed and once again closed the box with the ring. He was a coward and he knew that.
Karl picked up the donut from the counter and made his way over to you.
"Here's your donut with sprinkles and orange icing!" Karl exclaimed putting emphasis on the 'orange' part.
"Thanks babe!" You smiled as he sat down across from you. "Wait, you didn't get anything for yourself?"
Karl sighed again for what seemed like the 100th time today and put on a smile. "I ended up not being as hungry as I thought I was."
"Well I could always share!" You started to eat your donut as Karl ended up looking outside.
Unbeknownst to you he was thinking of another way to propose without himself getting in his own head.
He'll find a time.
3rd proposal: Livestream
"Chat! As you can see I have my significant other here with me!" Karl exclaimed to his Twitch following.
You were sat next to him in another one of his office chairs with a blanket across your lap. You loved to join Karl's streams, the last couple of time you two played minecraft, gang beats, played on the nitendo switch for a while, but this time he didn't tell you what games you two would be playing. Karl just told you to come over tonight and ended up asking to join him for a stream last minute.
Now you are here next to him as Karl glows with excitement as he streams to his growing followers. You loved how he interacted with his fans and had a genuine connection with them, but sometimes that strong connection can, and has led to some nights where you had to stay the night and comfort him from his inner demons and the internet. Those nights made you love him even more, the vulnerability he gave to you made you comfortable with him.
It seems like the more time you spend eith him the more you want to officially get married. You didn't want to rush him because you soon figured out for yourself that there is no rush to express your love, which you two do everyday day. You two can get eloped in Vegas and you'll be happy, as long as you can spend the rest of your life with the man you love.
Karl kept sending glances towards you throughout the stream hoping you were having fun with the chill, q and a stream. Again he wanted to propose to you tonight during the stream. He loved showing your relationship whenever he could and whenever you would allow him to. His community also loved you the moment you became his significant other, so hopefully this will be a beautiful moment.
You talked to his chat as he contemplated, again, about whether to propose tonight. It wasn't infront of people, it was infront of a screen and it would be on Twitter in less than a week. This would be a good moment, but then again he wanted this moment to be between you two and he couldn't find the right time nor the right "moment".
As the stream continues you ended up wrapping yourself fully in the blanket and lying your head on his shoulder. You both cuddled eachother while you two answered questions. Karl kissed the top of your head and finally collected all of his thoughts.
He didn't need to propose to officially claim his love to you. Karl knew you both loved eachother to the ends of the Earth and back. There's no need for ceremony and the one day he will propose, he know it will come naturally. There is no need to force it, and now he wont.
Only time will tell.
4th proposal: spongebob
"Are you ready, kids?
Aye, aye, Captain!
I can't hear you!
Aye, aye, captain!
Oh!"
The TV illuminated the comfortable, dark room you two were in. You were lying on the couch with Karl with the blanket you had while streaming. It was late at night after the stream and you two ended up watching re-runs of spongebob. Karl sang along to the theme song softly while you hummed along. This was the 4th episode you both watched this night and it was a great way to end the week.
"Do you want to stay over tonight?" Karl asked softly with tiredness in his voice.
"Of couse. Im too tired to move, so thanks for offering." You chuckled.
"You're welcome here anytime." Karl yawned and squeezed your sides. "Do you want popcorn?"
"Hell yeah." You got off of Karl as he walked to the kitchen.
He put the bag into the microwave and leaned back onto the kitchen counter as he waited. Karl looked over to the side and saw a empty vase which was next to the velvet box he was carrying with him this whole week. He shook his head and laughed to himself before getting the popcorn out of the microwave, dumping it in a bowl and walking back to see you taking up the whole couch.
"Move over or I'll sit on you." Karl said standing above her.
"Is that a promise?" You teased.
"Okay then!" He turned around and began to slowly and dramatically fake sitting ontop of you.
You began to laugh and try to push him off of you. You successfully got him to sit down and returned to your previous position, but this time with popcorn.
"I love you, you know that?" You hummed into his chest.
"Yeah, and I love you more."
"I love you most."
"I love you mostest." Karl laughed.
"That's not a word." You smiled.
"I love you so much I made up a word for ya." Karl kissed you head and you hugged him tighter.
"You know what?" Karl chuckled. "I love you so much that I tried to propose to you 3 times this week."
Karl finished and you sat up from your spot looking surprised. Karl sat up as well thinking he made a mistake telling you. He was abkut to apologize, but you beat him to speak.
"Oh my gosh!" You exhaled.
"Look, I'm sorr-"
"Are you proposing?!" You exclaimed with a smile on your face.
"Huh-?"
Karl was surprised just like you were before. He remembered that he wanted the Maybe this was the moment he needed this week.
Karl grabbed both of your hands and caressed them both, looking into your eyes. "I was planning to all week. But now I think this is a good moment. So Y/N? Will you marry me?"
"Of course I will!" You enveloped him into a tight hug and peppered his face with kisses. He finally found his moment and he couldn't be happier.
"You said you tried to propose three other times?" You questioned. "When was that?"
"Its a long story."

Big Kpop question tag
Tumblr media
I was tagged by @myeoning-call thank you!! ♥
------
•Song That Got You Into K-Pop: Bae Bae by BigBang. I first clicked on Loser, I wasn’t feeling it completely but liked it enough to give them another chance so I clicked on Bae Bae, that one was on repeat for weeks.
(Idk... I think I might seem like an older kpop fan but I got into kpop in 2015. I’m one of those people who when getting into sth they really dig further until the origin of a thing, especially when it comes to music. So I know a lot about 1st and 2nd gen too, and I am mainly a fan of 2nd and 3rd gen bc I’m more around the same age as late 2nd gen - 3rd gen kpop idols, we grew up around the same time so I relate to them the most. For reference I am 2 years younger than Gikwang (late 2nd gen) and Yongguk (early 3rd gen), same age as Ken (early 3rd gen) and Sunmi (late 2nd gen). I heard about Kpop before 2015 ofc but i was in an industrial/obscure electronic music fase before kpop)
• Song That Gets Stuck In Your Head: The Chaser by Infinite is an earworm
---
• Fav. Male Group: When it comes to male groups, I make the distinction between ults and mains (ults are the most important, but “main” means I listen to them all the time as well, I just don’t feel as connected to them as people).
Ult: B.A.P, Highlight/Beast, iKON, VIXX
Main: BigBang (they were my first group which is special but I feel less connected to them than with my ults), SHINee, TVXQ/JYJ, H.O.T, SuperM, NCT (WayV mainly), 2PM, Super Junior, Block B
• Fav. Female Group: Wonder Girls, 2NE1, f(x), Orange Caramel, Brown Eyed Girls, 9Muses, Ladies’ Code, T-Ara, Kara, 3ye
• Fav. Underrated Male Group: “B.A.P we didn’t deserve them”  <- agreed!
• Fav. Underrated Female Group: Spica
---
• Fav. Male Soloist: Lee Gikwang, Taemin, Bang Yongguk, G-Dragon, Jonghyun, Woodz, Ash Island (last one is actually khh, and Yongguk used to be kpop but I guess he’s more khh now)
• Fav. Female Soloist: Lee Junghyun (her debut album “Let’s go to my Star” is my favourite kpop album actually!), Sunmi, BoA.
---
• Fav. Male Choreography: Drip Drop by Taemin is a classic for me + So many other Taemin performances.
• Fav. Female Choreography: Paradise Lost by GaIn, another one would be 24 hours by Sunmi.
(-> I generally like solo or pas de deux (duo) more than entire group choreographies, it grabs the heart more imo. Tbh as I’m writing this I have ballet performances in mind when it comes to touching you emotionally through dance. Kpop dance has some impressive tricks but it isn’t particularly emotional, which is what’s most important to me)
---
• Fav. Subunit: Orange Caramel!! (and WayV if that counts)
• Fav. Senior Male Group: H.O.T if we’re talking about disbanded senior groups, TVXQ/JYJ, Super Junior and Sechskies if we’re talking about still active senior groups.
• Fav. Senior Female Group: Brown Eyed Girls
• Fav. Disbanded Male Group: B.A.P ♥
• Fav. Disbanded Female Group: Wonder Girls and 2NE1 ;;;;
• Fav. Band: N.Flying
---
• Fav. Male Rookie: Idk.. Oneus maybe? I listen to them casually. (I consider them rookie)
• Fav. Female Rookie: 3ye (They debuted in 2019, to me that’s still rookie)
---
• Fav. Male Dancer: Highlight/Beast Gikwang, SHINee Taemin, B.A.P Jongup
• Fav. Female Dancer: BoA
• Fav. Male Rapper: B.A.P Bang Yongguk
• Fav. Female Rapper: Brown Eyed Girls Miryo
• Fav. Male Vocalist: iKON Junhoe (he has a very unique and ‘harsh/rock’ voice for kpop, my fav voice in kpop), VIXX Jaehwan (Ken), Highlight Yoseob and Gikwang (Gikwang has a good voice but it’s not the most powerful one, but I just really love hearing him so.. :)) ♥♥)
• Fav. Female Vocalist: 2NE1 Bom
---
• Fav. Male Debut: Warrior by B.A.P, 7th Sense by NCT U
• Fav. Female Debut: 와 (Wa) by Lee Junghyun
---
• Fav. Music Video: The Closer by Vixx !!
Honorable mentions: Yamazaki by Bang Yongguk, We are the future by H.O.T , Mirotic + Rising sun + O -正.反.合. (정반합) by TVXQ, Lies + Haru Haru + Last farewell by BigBang (those MVs bring me back to when I was a teenager, the low rise jeans, the pink Motorola flip phone.. one of my friends had the exact same one at the time), One Shot + Skydive by B.A.P., Mystery by Beast (both the official mv and their self-made mv) + Adrenaline by Beast/Highlight (a very basic mv but I instantly become happy when I watch it)
• Fav. Underrated Song: The Closer by Vixx, again! Also Outside Castle by H.O.T, Copy and Paste by BoA, Dear. Rude by JeA ft. Cheetah, She’s gone by G-Dragon, and Hikikomori by Bang Yongguk(♥)
• Fav. Male B-Side: Obsession + Divina Commedia by G-Dragon, Blind + 주소서 (Pray) by B.A.P, Love me do + Silence + Trigger by VIXX, Sexuality by Taemin...
• Fav. Female B-Side: Ca teint moi + GX 339-4 by Lee Junghyun (!! the entire Let’s go to my Star album is a no skip for me), Wonder Girls: almost all of the Reboot Album...
• Fav. Comfort Song: (Most comfort songs are either by B.A.P or by Beast/Highlight because they’re the ults of the ults lol)
B.A.P: Save me, Diamond 4 ya, almost the entire Noir album (+ Ya by Bang Yongguk)
Highlight/Beast: Lightless (unplugged version), Sad movie, Curious, Danger, Sleep Tight
Some H.O.T and TVXQ songs
---
Top 5 BG + Fav. Song/s:
B.A.P: Young, Wild and Free (my very first Bap cb and their very first cb after the hiatus and law suit), the entire One shot EP, Power, Feel so Good, That’s my jam, Warrior, Unbreakable, Badman, Excuse me, 1004, Bang X2, Hands up + the ones I’ve mentioned above (+ many of Bang Yongguk’s solo stuff)
Highlight/Beast: Plz don’t be Sad (<- always makes me happy), Breath, Bad Girl, Mystery, Shock, Special, Fiction, Shadow, Good Luck, Celebrate, Love like this, Not the End, Disconnected + the ones I’ve mentioned above (+ many of Lee Gikwang’s solo stuff)
iKON: Killing me, Rubber Band, Bling Bling, Ah Yeah, Dive, Why Why Why, Dumb & Dumber, B-day, Rhythm Ta, I’m Okay
VIXX: The Closer, On and on, Voodoo, Secret Night, Black Out, Hyde, Light up the Darkness, Love me Do (actually produced by Yongguk and it does sound like it could’ve been a B.A.P song♥), Rock ur body, and almost the entire Eau de Vixx album

---
Top 5 GG + Fav. Song/s:
Wonder Girls: basically the entirety of the Reboot album, So Hot, Tell me, Why so lonely, Like this, Like money (the version without Akon), and last but certainly not least So Hot + I Feel You (band version♥)
2NE1: Crush, Come back home, Hate You, Can’t Nobody, I love you, I am the Best, Don’t stop the music, Fire, Goodbye (;;;)
f(x): Pinocchio (Danger), Mr. Boogie, Nu Abo, Hot Summer, 4 Walls, Chu, La Cha ta, Electric Shock, Lollipop (ft. SHINee)
Orange Caramel: Abing Abing, Catallena, My Copycat, Lipstick, Gangnam Avenue, Shanghai Romance, A-ing
Brown Eyed Girls: Kill Bill, Sign, Cleansing Cream, Sixth Sense, Abracadabra, How Come
---
Groups Planning to Stan:
A.C.E: (I listened to them casually for a couple of years but I want to get to know them better and I’ve been binging a lot of ace videos these past 4-5 months.)
After School: (I LOVE Orange Caramel, but for some reason I never listened to the main group’s songs)
Infinite: (been wanting to for years, I know a good amount of songs and been listening to them for years but yeah)
(These 3 groups feel like they have the potential to become fav groups of mine.)

Hey! I'm the 2nd gen anon that sent you the ask the other day. I agree with what you said especially the thing about social media.
For the past few years, I've been wondering why I fell out of Kpop because at that time, Kpop was gaining more attraction. I think the first reason would be that many older groups were disbanding. Then, it would be the presence of social media (toxic fans are the loudest). Other than that, I couldn't get myself into the newer songs. I remember thinking that the reason for this was due to newer songs being too westernized. However, foreign producers have been making songs for Kpop artists for a while. Over time, I noticed that a lot of the newer songs (even non-Kpop songs) don't have full choruses. The songs are mostly focused on the beat and the title of the song is repeated in the chorus. I don't hate this type of music but I tend to get sick of it quickly. A lot of 3rd and 4th gen groups are coming out with this kind of music now which makes sense into why I couldn't get myself into them. Even when my favs, which are 2nd gen and early 3rd gen (I actually regard them as 2.5 gen because they had similar styles to 2nd gen) come out with songs that don't have full choruses, I rarely listen to it.
I know in my previous ask, I did say I stopped being a Kpop fan at one point but I did still listened to my favourite Kpop songs as well as trending songs. I don't think I can ever stop listening to Kpop or music in general. I guess you can say I just became a casual listener. I'll check kpop news from time to time but that's it. I couldn't keep up with the fandom.
I don't know if you ever felt this way before but I feel bad for not putting in time for my favs or ults(?). What I'm talking about is things like streaming and voting. Luckily, my favs don't really care because they've been in the industry for a while but I still feel guilty because streaming and voting is a form of supporting the artists you love.
Sorry for the long ask. It's just hard to find 2nd gen fans on Tumblr. Also, thanks for bringing awareness about mental health. Like you said, it's sad that such tragic events have to happen in order for us to bring light to an important topic. With this, I hope people will care for the mental health of others and themselves.
I definitely agree with a lot of what you said. And thank you for dropping in again! I personally don't like songs where the structure is "skimped on", e.g. not having a full chorus, or several lines of lyrics being just the same word or phrase repeated over and over. Although that said, "Sorry Sorry" and "Ring Ding Dong" are what got me into kpop and are the most iconic songs ever and you can't tell me otherwise lol.
For me personally, rediscovering Super Junior and SHINee after 7+ years of not keeping up and being a casual listener was like a shock to the system. With Super Junior it was like, hold up, you mean Kibum, Hangeng, Kangin AND Sungmin are not in SJ anymore?? And with SHINee it was like... how can we go on without Jjong?? And hold on, Taemin is now the biggest solo artist of all of them?? TVXQ was now only Yunho and Changmin and the rest had left?? It was so much to take in.
When I was coming back into kpop circa late 2017, besides BTS I wasn't that thrilled with what I arrived to as a 2nd gen fan to be honest. Monsta X and KARD were a breath of fresh air, as a proper very EDM focused and a mixed gender group, respectively. Musically though, aside from BTS it was VIXX I loved the most and they sit awkwardly in the time line, somewhere between 2nd gen and 3rd gen. They're usually considered 2.5 gen.
It was sad learning about everyone I knew from 2nd gen that was disbanding or not active (f(x), 2NE1, SHINee were just recovering from Jonghyun's passing at the time). But at the same time I was thrilled that so many were still going strong. I felt i could relate to them because I was getting into that later-twenties stage where I was worrying about getting older, but I was comforted knowing my 2nd gen idols were growing older with me, they were already a few years ahead of me and still rocking it.
You see, with feeling guilty about not streaming and voting, I didn't really experience that. When I was an early kpop fan it wasn't even possible to vote outside of Korea so I never felt like I had missed out on these opportunities or let my idols down. When i got into kpop again I did take advantage of the fact that I could stream, vote for MAMA and vote on some music shows. I never felt guilty though because I knew that the majority of these voting drives were for the younger fans, who didn't have full time jobs, families or that many responsibilities. So I always felt I was doing my best as a fan in moderation, without sacrificing all my time, money and sanity.
With 4th gen, I don't even bother with voting. Some people might say that makes me a shitty or lazy fan, but my ults are 2nd and 3rd gen, and I'm only one person. I know 3rd and 4th gen have loads and loads of young fans who do the streaming and voting better than I ever could. I just stream on comeback day and enjoy the music, and buy the occasional album. When I was a young fan I had no money at all, I couldn't buy any albums or go to any concerts. So I don't feel guilty because I can do more now as an older fan than I ever could before to support my idols. I save my voting rights for my 2nd gen faves who aren't as popular anymore, because I know it would mean much more to them to still win awards this late into their careers :)

Scoob!Dick Dastardly headcanons
Because I loved movie!Dick so much (some of these headcanons were created with my friend Xtaabay)
He totally remembers his date of birth but is in denial about his age, probably early or mid 50's. He hates being so old he never gives his age or date of birth, uses black wax for his hair, eyebrows and moustache to hide his greying hairs, tries to be hip but fails terribly (thinks Simon Cowell and Gérard Depardieu are still relevant, calls Gen Z teens millenials...), etc all while still being a boomer in contrast with old principles
He's the movie version of Dick the 2nd (Wacky Races). He inherited the flying machine and the taxidermized pigeon from his father the movie version of Dick the 1st (Dick Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines), and his son the movie version of Dick the 3rd (the 2017 reboot) is barely older than the Scooby gang and still is in college where he dates his girlfriend Pandora
Officer Jaffe's disguise is actually based on Penelope Pistop (the 1st) when she was the age he knew her. He had a huge crush on her developping when they were still racers but she rejected him. He never truely recovered so he made a latex copy of her for CREEPY reasons. Useful with other clothes to pass as a fictional woman for schemes. So the fact his son gets to be with one of her daughters who took her main good looks from her makes him both proud and salty
He has a brother and a sister. He is the oldest male and his father being a boomer he was the one who inherited, but he is actually younger than his sister. The 3 siblings do like each other but are in conflict for opposite personalities and goals, childish fights and the fact they all are evil who grew up in a villain household so they have different relationships than us good guys. They rarely see each other ever since he became an international criminal. He doesn't care about his niblings Desdemona and Longarm though, never really met them
He was born and raised until he was 11 in London hence hiw British accent
His favorite chilling hobby is binging Netflix (using his mother's account because EVIL and broke) shows and movies where the main character is morally grey while drinking scotch or smoking a cigar (hence his yellow teeth) in his night robes and laughing at dumb plot point and characters with Muttley. He missed that one aspect a lot when Muttley was missing...
He's been looking for Muttley for 6 years and found about the Cerberus skull legends 6 months before the movie's events. He actually became a criminal during these years, needing to find any way as illegal as they were or whatever way he needed to pay for things even if it meant stealing. Anything to bring back his friend. Back when Muttley was there he just cheated, made schemes and inventions, could be a scammer (and frankly taking gold from an ancient mythological interdimensional portal can't truely count as stealing) but he wasn't really a criminal until that. Stealing also became essential to live since he was now on a constant run abd had gone through a divorce where his ex wife earned everything
For these 6 years, his relatives thought he was dead or abandonned them after the divorce all for a dog they believed had simply died. He does love his son but he was so obsessed by bringing back his friend he KNEW was alive and felt guilty for how he had gotten trapped because of himself, and also was too busy on the run and to focus to the point of lacking sleep that he forgot to cintact him. The reunion was very awkward and not very calm
He had Muttley ever since he was a puppy (from his father's dog Muttley 1) when himself was a young adult (dogs seem to live as much as humans in that universe lol), even before becoming a dad, when it was mostly himself alone and no one else. Hence why his disappearance broke him so hard
He can swear but only when he is really furious, taken aback or surprised. Over than that he TRIES not to because he hates it, that is not refined and big bad vulgar words can even fluster him like a kid. A sort of family tradition actually just like cheating and keeping a moustache
Despite how the gang thinks he is ugly because of many factore (they are just teens after all and like Daphne said he looks more like a dad than anythinh else, tjey hate how he tries to hurt their friends and is a criminal and they didn't actually meet him IRL yet to see by themselves), he is actually quite charismatic in universe when he wants to. During the movie he only focuses on his goal that is so close to be achieved so no other distraction is needed, but usally if he wants to have some fun, he can seduce women by being suave without too much difficulty (JASON ISAACS VOICE HEH). One night stands are not rare
It's precisely during a one night stand one eay he was back in London for a race that Dick the 3rd was unexpectedly made after a condom broke (they sued the company, won and by the time of his birth had a big house). Out of boomer principles Dick the 2nd felt obligated to marry her and brought her with him in US but never really liked her, adultery wasn't too rare form his part and fights were not rare. Hence why she was SO eager to kick him out after the divorce, leaving him only his flying machine as a home
He used to be a skinny nerd with technological diplomas who did inventions only for racing traps, scams and financing himself, but he ended up exercising and get buff thanks to natation and weightlifting because he was tired to struggle at he bottom of cliffs with rivers and trying to get out of his car wreck
He was a particular Dastardly since while being into tradition in a way (the moustache, the obsession to cheat and a determination to TRY to temain classy and dignified...), he didn't plan to go on with the lineage at all and just try to live a hedonistic life of a champion. A failure that had brought his feet back on earth
He gave his car to his son by the time he retired from racing (shortly before losing Muttley) and taught him to make traps and fix it himself. He still is horrified out of nostalgia he gave it updates changing its design but doesn't dare saying it outloud
He was inspired to become a racer from childhood thanks to racing celebrities he saw on TV and magazines and also because he loved mechanics especially vehicles, and was sure he could win as many prizes as them in a record time if he cheated his way to the top. Bad idea... he ended up retiring out of spite and focusing on scams and inventions after about 20 years of career. He still can be nostalgic of these times and whenever he met some of the few fans (there are some, generally villainous who admire treachery, and less often normal people who just found him funny) he had, he gladly signed autographs proud like a peacock. Well that was until the movie's event when he became an internationally criminal. But during these 6 years of inactivity, he still made jail but without it being public since not a lot of people remember losers and cheaters and the few who did assumed he was dead or something
He was and will be in jail more than once ever since he started his criminal ways. But he can be sleazy so he often gets out after some weeks (for cartoonish logic since it seems to be applied in that universe) thanks to good bootlicking conduct, blackmailing and snitching in other prisonners, so he would get out giving them a mocking salute. And being nearly 200 cm tall and muscular, you could hardly fight. It was only ONCE the guy he snitched on was actually 220 cm tall and beat the shit out of him. Dick was his buffoon bootlickikg servant for the remaining of his stay since then
Even while being a criminal after the movie's events, he made up with his son to catch up the lost time and so has him visit him or visits him all while being incognito. He hates how he got sarcastic towarss him though
He hates being reminded he is old so MUCH he hates years later the idea of becoming a grandpa. He still deeply gets attached to Dick the 4th when he's born
Just like his cartoon self, he's a scalie. Anthro female gators ooh~ he loves their lovebites

Pokemon Franchise Narrative Comparison
To this day, there have been only three other mediums that have run for as long as the core Pokemon game series has: the anime series, the Pokemon Adventures manga series, and the Trading Card Game. With the obvious exception of the TCG, these have all had narrative arcs within each passing generation, and I want to use this post to compare their quality.
GEN I Games: Red/Blue/Green/Yellow Anime: Original Series: Indigo League + Orange Islands (The Beginning) Manga: Red/Blue/Green Chapter, Yellow Chapter
1st Place - Manga. The original R/B/G Chapter brings the world of the Game Boy games to life in stunning accuracy, while also its own spin on certain things and crafting a simple yet sophisticated coming-of-age narrative, with the Yellow Chapter being its Actionized Sequel that raises the stakes even higher and deepens everything within this manga series. Add to this clear influence from the anime and the fact that it’s the only Gen I product to feature the character of Green in it, and we have the definitive story for the franchise’s first generation.
2nd Place - Anime. While increasingly less faithful to the details of the games, the anime remained very faithful to the spirit of them while telling its own coming-of-age tale for Ash Ketchum in the Indigo League series, plus a “postgame scenario” equivalent with the Orange Islands series. The highlight of this story is definitely how it fleshes out the games’ main antagonists: Gary Oak, Team Rocket and Mewtwo, into interesting, memorable characters.
3rd Place - Games. The 8-bit adventure that started it all is incredibly bare-bones and basic: take the Pokemon League challenge, thwart the evil Team Rocket along the way, and if possible fill up that Pokedex with all 151 Pokemon (”Gotta Catch ‘Em All!”). As a story, it’s not very interesting, but as an excuse for gameplay it works marvelously and established a winning formula for the series, and to this day it’s still charming in its wholesome simplicity.
GEN II Games: Gold/Silver/Crystal Anime: Original Series: GS (Gold and Silver) Manga: Gold/Silver/Crystal Chapter
1st Place - Manga. It’s funny - in the first volume of the G/S/C Chapter, things seemed to be a definite downgrade from the Kanto-based arcs that came before in terms of artwork, characterization and narrative. But then the mysterious masked antagonist appears at the end, and from then on out things just keep escalating to such epic heights that it becomes the best Johto story in the franchise and arguably the best arc in the whole manga series! Practically everyone and everything from the previous two arcs end up joining up with the new elements and the series up to this point is brought to a satisfying, conclusive note.
2nd Place - Games. While the League challenge and Pokedex narrative threads are basically the same as before, and the Team Rocket thread is actually weaker, this story also features a stronger regional setting, a stronger rival, and stronger characterization for side characters both old and new, especially in the special edition, Crystal, making it a welcome step-up.
3rd Place - Anime. An attempt at a new narrative was notoriously abandoned early on, with Takeshi Shudo leaving the head writer position and the whole show devolving into formulaic Filler Hell. While the Johto League tournament that concluded the whole thing was good, there was barely a story to support getting there, and the main characters had all become Flanderized versions of their former selves by the end. Without question, the anime had jumped the shark. But Shudo did give us the best movie and an OVA that properly concluded Indigo League’s Mewtwo arc before he was through, so let’s not say it was a total waste.
GEN III Games: Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, FireRed/LeafGreen Anime: Advanced Generation (Ruby and Sapphire) Manga: Ruby/Sapphire Chapter, FireRed/LeafGreen Chapter, Emerald Chapter
1st Place - Games. The first time that the games get first place, but only on the technicality that the other contenders are worse, since this really isn’t that big an improvement over the previous two generations’ game narratives. The biggest difference is that your character is the child of one of the Gym Leaders, and the evil team narrative thread (Team Aqua and/or Team Magma this time) builds to an epic high-stakes event that involves the Legendary Pokemon mascot of the game which will become a mainstay of the formula from now on. There is also the remakes of the original Gen I games, and aside from some small tweaks of improvement and a postgame scenario in an island archipelago (anime-inspired, perhaps?), the narrative is basically the same as it was before. Nothing outstanding, but serviceable.
2nd Place - Manga. Talk about a mixed bag...the R/S Chapter started out with promise but ended up going to shit in its second half, the FR/LG Chapter was fantastic only to conclude with a bullshit last-minute cliffhanger, and the Emerald Chapter that connects the two arcs is just stereotypical, badly-written shonen crap with only a few good elements in it (plus some ironic enjoyment to be had in its batshit insane climax). On the whole, this was the weakest period that the manga series has ever had, despite Kusaka and Yamamoto’s best efforts.
3rd Place - Anime. Beyond May and her character arc which, by some lucky fluke, came together wonderfully, the anime hadn’t improved that much from the Johto days. Hoenn was not done any justice (even the manga did a better job with it!), and the FRLG/Emerald composite for the filler arc afterward was just weird in spite of how entertaining half of it was. All in all, the anime hadn’t gotten a real narrative back. It was just going through the motions.
GEN IV Games: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver Anime: Diamond & Pearl Manga: Diamond/Pearl Chapter, Platinum Chapter, HeartGold/SoulSilver Chapter
1st Place - Manga. Pokemon Adventures retakes its crown in this generation, with a phenomental two arcs in the Sinnoh region that are so linked that they essentially make up one whole story, and a brief, adequate arc in Johto that properly bridges the gap between those Sinnoh arcs and the Emerald arc before them. Whenever I think of Sinnoh, it’s the region portrayed in this manga that comes to mind, which is a testament to its high quality.
2nd Place - Games. One word can describe the narratives of these games: overcooked. There are a lot of good ingredients here that elevate the series’ storytelling to a new level, but way too many cooks who don’t have a unified idea of how to properly mix them together means that it becomes a muddled mess of mythology, philosophy and vague character motivations. This particularly pisses me off when it effects the otherwise solid Gen II remakes. However, the good elements are still good regardless, and as showcased by the following generation this was a necessary learning curve to get through, so it deserves some respect.
3rd Place - Anime. Ugh. Newly appointed head writer Atsuhiro Tomioka tries to have his cake and eat it too here, maintaining the anime’s banal filler formula while also attempting to tell a legitimate narrative, but he as just one man somehow manages to clutter up that narrative more than the several writers did for the games in this generation! It is an increasingly insufferable roller coaster of plot threads and supposed character arcs that are drawn out to the point of disinterest across four years, with you really feeling the disastrous pace when it takes a years’ worth of time between Ash winning his 7th badge and him winning his 8th. Combine this with the source material of the games being disrespected or cast aside perhaps worse than ever, and you get what I will always believe is the lowest point for the anime.
GEN V Games: Black/White, Black 2/White 2 Anime: Best Wishes + Best Wishes Season 2 (Black and White) Manga: Black/White Chapter, Black 2/White 2 Chapter
1st Place - Games. With this generation, particularly with its first set of games, the learning curve undergone in Gen IV paid off. This is quite possibly the richest narrative in the whole game series in terms of plot, characterization and themes, and the peak of the traditional formula. Combined with stellar gameplay, it creates a high point that has yet to be matched.
2nd Place - Manga. The Black/White Chapter had a rough start, just copying the games’ plot almost to the letter but with the characterizations for the main characters truly being less than ideal (see what I did there?) However, once Black and White go their own separate ways the arc starts rapidly improving until it ends on a phenomenal high note that segues perfectly in the Black 2/White 2 arc that, like the Yellow arc, is an Actionized Sequel and, like the Platinum arc, is essentially the continuation and conclusion of the same story as in the previous arc. The only real mark against it is that it can be too fast-paced which only adds to the frustrating irony of the absolutely Hellish schedule slip it underwent (8 fucking years for an arc of just 24 chapters / 3 volumes to be completed! It’s never going to live that fact down!)
3rd Place - Anime. Kind of the reverse of the manga: had a great start being the best that the anime has been in a long time, only to get progressively weaker, with the third and final year being a trainwreck of checking off plot points in a mad rush to promote the upcoming Gen VI and pander to the whiny fanboys who’d been complaining about the loss of the formula and D/P-style story writing (yes, they actually liked those) plus the “soft reboot” aspect going on, particularly with Ash. However, much like the Gen IV games, the Gen V anime proved to be a necessary learning curve for the future and is a highly impactful series in that regard, so it deserves respect for that (although I hate that both a natural disaster and the B2/W2 games screwed up the originally planned Team Plasma arc! It’s never going to live that fact down!)
GEN VI Games: X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Anime: XY + XY&Z Manga: X/Y Chapter, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Chapter
1st Place - Manga. I thoroughly dislike the story of the X/Y games and the Delta Episode of OR/AS, so imagine my surprise when Pokemon Adventures actually makes something good out of them (or, in the Delta Episode’s case, something tolerable at best). The X/Y Chapter is a delightful deconstruction of a lot of what’s in the games, turning what was light and fluffy and hollow into something dark and suspenseful and meaningful. And the OR/AS Chapter gets points for being the best that Ruby and Sapphire have ever been characterized, to the point where they’ve been officially Rescued from my Scrappy Heap (Emerald’s still lame tho).
2nd Place - Games. Like I said, I dislike the X/Y games’ narrative and the Delta Episode of OR/AS; I think they are the worst writing the game series has ever seen to date. But the main narrative of OR/AS - the actual remake of the Gen III games which features a lot of new and necessary improvements - is solid, and that’s enough to put the games at second place here.
3rd Place - Anime. Similarly, the one thing the anime series does really well - the Myth Arc, which includes the Team Flare storyline - is not enough to elevate it beyond third place, because the rest of the series’ narrative is just as lame as the X/Y games’, there’s not much benefit from OR/AS elements, and everything that it positions in its shameful fan-pandering utterly fails to deliver or add up to anything meaningful in the end. The Mega Evolution specials pretty clearly demonstrate that this should have been Alain’s show, not Ash’s.
GEN VII Games: Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Anime: Sun & Moon Manga: Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Chapter
1st Place - Games. The Gen V games have serious competition story-wise with the Gen VII games. Both S/M and US/UM are excellent, with things not done so well in one being done better in the other and vice-versa to the point where they compliment each other beautifully.
2nd Place - Anime. Miracle of miracles! For the first time since Gen I, the anime series gets its narrative in second place, with Daiki Tomiyasu and Aya Matsui completely reinventing it in a refreshingly fun and vibrant way. There are some missed opportunities here and there, but overall it’s a perfect adaptation of the Alola region and everything that makes it so great.
3rd Place - Manga. While this is still an arc of good quality that I like, it’s also perhaps the most disappointing since Ruby/Sapphire back in Gen III. After doing so well with Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos, one senses that Kusaka and Yamamoto struggled to adapt Alola to that same standard, and while the decision to keep US/UM as part of the same arc rather than be a separate one was wise, it’s during the US/UM half of the arc that things really start falling apart and the wasted potential of stuff that got set up earlier becomes overbearing. It doesn’t help that the leads are an unlikable hero with an interesting, relatable goal and a likable heroine with an uninteresting, unrelatable goal respectively. Let’s hope that the patchwork done in the volume releases fixes some of the problems so that I can like this arc even more.
GEN VIII Games: Sword/Shield Anime: New Series (Journeys) Manga: Sword/Shield Chapter
1st Place - Manga. As I recently stated, Kusaka and Yamamoto are back at their A-Game with this arc, taking advantage of all that was lacking in the games’ story and utilizing them in an interesting narrative that I can’t wait to further experience alongside our surrogate, Marvin.
2nd Place - Games. If the Gen IV games’ narrative was overcooked, then the narrative of the games four generations later is most definitely undercooked. It’s not the worst story - that’s still Gen VI - but it’s possibly the most disappointing since it’s so easy to see how it could have been better and you are left baffled as to why the writers didn’t go in that direction.
3rd Place - Anime. This series is highly enjoyable thanks to the continued leadership of Daiki Tomiyasu, but not only is there not as much of a narrative as there’s been in earlier shows, it isn’t even uniquely Gen VIII-based: taking place across all regions in the Pokemon World and taking influence from mobile games like Go (released in Gen VI) and Masters (released in Gen VII).  Add to that the unfortunate hiatus it’s now on and it can’t help but be placed last.

Darkness Ultras: A Harbinger Conspiracy
So after refreshing myself on Ultra Dark Killer lore, I can to a very interesting realization
Cause as of now we have no idea where did Geed and X Darkness come from and everyone (even me) is just assuming that both of them came to be just like how Ultra Dark Killer created the Dark Killer Brothers
But this is where it gets interesting, there's an issue with that assumption, there are great differences between the Dark Killer Brothers and the Darkness Ultras
1. Colour Scheme
I pointed out this in an earlier review post that all the Dark Killer Brothers have only black-white colour scheme while the Darkness Ultras have Black-Red-Purple color schemes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Naming
And of course the Dark Killer Brothers have their prefix of 'Dark Killer', eg Dark Killer Zoffy and Dark Killer Ace etc
But Geed and X Darkness?
Hmm
SO
It's likely that Ultra Dark Killer did not create X and Geed Darkness, which led me to realize that know who else has the exact SAME color scheme and naming?
Tumblr media
Now this is HUGE
Cause if we can rmb, the Zero Darkness form is achieved when the spirit of Belial possessed Zero
So I have very strong reasons to believe that Belial is somehow involved in all of this:
1. Ambiguous death in Geed
I pointed this glaring plothole here back in Geed when Belial was seemingly 'killed' in exile space where Geed pushed him there
I reasoned that because the wormhole was closing very quickly, Geed might've not been able to check on the condition of Belial
So it's very certain that TsuPro left that plothole there to have Belial's condition shrouded I'm ambiguity
2. Belial is a Reionyx
We learnt in Ultra Zero Fight Season 2 that due to the core spirit of Reiblood possessing Belial, Belial can never truly die, just like Reiblood can't as well
And this allow Belial to exist as a spiritual form even after death and be able to possess other beings such as Armoured Darkness and Zero
So even if we assume that Belial was left confirmed dead in exile space, his spirit will definitely still exist and could've been wandering around
3. The unknown whereabouts of the Darkness Five
I pointed this out in the first episode of Geed back then when we weren't even given any information on the whereabouts of the Darkness Five during the Omega Armageddon event
And I've always found it very suspicious that we have never heard about the Darkness Five throughout Geed
And considering the fact that Belial and Kei had planned to continue their operations in a pocket dimension near Side Space Earth, it's likely that the Darkness Five were involved in this plan too
By the end of Geed, we can only confirm that Kei truly perished but till today, the whereabouts of the Darkness Five are still shrouded in mystery
And considering that Belial and his crew have gotten smarter and smarter with each appearance, it should not be a surprise that Belial would have the Darkness Five be prepared for his eventual death at the end of Geed
And if they can harness such advanced technology in the Kaiser Belial Movie to achieve interuniversal travel, it's should also not come as a surprise to have the Darkness Five enter exile space to retrieve Belial's body and/or his spirit
4. Taiga is commemorating Zero AND Belial's anniversary
From the recent leaks we know that Zero will make a cameo in Taiga to give him the Plasma Zero-let to commemorate HIS 10th anniversary
So it's likely that Belial will make an appearance somewhere this year as well, either by proxy or as himself
Reasons below will be going into speculative territory:
5. The lack of involvement from the LoL
From what we can understand so far, it seems that the events taking place in Taiga seems to be within the main M78 universe, but I pointed out if that were the case, since Ken has universal+ clairvoyance, would they come and immediately rescue the Tri Squad?
UNLESS
At the end of the war 12 years ago, right after Toregia poofed all the Tri Squad, Belial makes his appearance and has been keeping the LoL occupied
And even if we look at the war 12 years ago, why were there only Taro and the New Gen Members involved in the resistance against Toregia? Where are the rest of the Ultra Garrison?
Could it be that Belial is causing havoc back down on the LoL and that's why they have a shortage in manpower?
6. How was Toregia able to escape
I pointed out early on in Taiga on how did Toregia even manage to escape Taro and the New Gen Ultras but now with this new information, it's likely that Belial may have entered the fray after the dual Ultra Dynamite detonation, which may give rise to the possibility that Toregia and Belial were in cahoots all along and working together to enact their own vendetta
7. The Ultra power within the Kaiju Rings
Although my previous theory of Toregia's corruption was killed by Ultra Galaxy Fight, but now it points towards the source of the Ultra's power in the Kaiju Rings may have come from Belial
Let me explain, in ep 3, although Taiga was able to pinpoint the appearance of MK 2 Galactron to Toregia, and yet each time the Tri Squad gets a new Kaiju ring, they never connect that obvious dot to Toregia, a development which then I pointed out was absolutely retarded
BUT, it might be foreshadowing that the power of the Ultra that was hidden in the Kaiju Rings arent indeed from Toregia, but from Belial himself
If Belial can harness the powers of the Kaiju Capsules, he sure can enlist someone else to manufacture the Kaiju Rings
EVERYTHING COMES FULL CIRCLE NOW
Although I have many more reasons that support the possibility that Belial is involved here, I just listed enough or else I won't be able to finish this post
So overall, what I suspect is that there's mainly a tripartite working relationship going on between Ultra Dark Killer, Toregia and Belial.
Perhaps with Dark Lugiel and Etalgar playing the comparatively minor roles (although imo each of them individually could literally play major roles by themselves sigh)
So it seems that Ultra Dark Killer may have first created the Dark Killer versions of X and Geed, but since Belial now only exists as a spirit form from the end of Geed, he possesses both of them to create X and Geed Darkness
And while Ultra Dark Killer and his league of Darkness keeps the New Gen Heroes occupied, Belial and Toregia might have already intruded into the LoL to cause havoc there to keep the others occupied
And the 2nd act would involve Toregia siphoning the Tri Squad far away while Ultra Dark Killer, Belial and his League of Darkness continues their assault on the LoL
The 3rd Act would perhaps involve Belial meeting up with Toregia for perhaps the grand finale of the Taiga movie or just something after that
The possibilities are literally quite endless at this point but I really hope TsuPro brings back Belial and really add a whole new dimension to a conventional series by making it just simply a portion of a GRAND PROJECT
