I know they said the lineup for the Nine Muses comeback will be confirmed later, but we all know it’s gonna be OT8. maybe Sungah might sit this one out and I know this is wishful thinking, but if they reached out to Sera like they should’ve in the first place, she might agree to it. eventhough she left the group earlier than OT8, they still should’ve asked her as well as Hyunjoo and Eunji if she wanted to participate.

do you have any 2nd or 3rd gen gg songs you think everyone should listen to? or what are some of your faves?

this is such a hard question lmao, because i grew up on second and third gen kpop. if any followers have recs, feel free to drop them as well.

for me, of course there's the big or moderately popular groups (kara, 2ne1, f(x), snsd, wonder girls, apink, girls day, sistar, miss a, brown eyed girls, 4minute, aoa, after school, t-ara, secret, etc etc)

in terms of groups that might be considered more obscure:

all of 9muses' discography, in particular glue, drama, and dolls (they were not that obscure but they didn't get a single win before disbanding so they still count as flops)

evol - get up, we are a bit different (ngl they were the original girl crush concept, like girl groups were not making music like this back then! they were totally ahead of their times)

stellar - sting, vibrato (they were totally exploited by their company and sold using sex appeal, but their music was great. they deserved all the success, but NOT under that management)

spica - you don't love me (the original vocal group. if you like m*mamoo, consider listening to spica instead)

fiestar - one more, you're pitiful

rainbow - A, black swan, cha cha (rainbow blaxx)

hello venus - wigglewiggle, stickysticky, i'm ill

dal shabet - be ambitious, joker

ladies code - hate you (they're regrettably known more for the deaths of rise and eunbi than for their music, but they really did make some bops)

kiss&cry - domino game (queens.... debuted w/ this incredible song and then disbanded immediately </3)

laboum - what about you (literally one of my favorite songs of all time)

secret - shy boy (I KNOW they were fairly successful and got a triple crown w/ this song but kpoppies these days don't know them???/)

BESTie - i need you

and this isn't even getting into any of the third gen proper girl groups i loved and lost 😭 (clc, pristin, wjsn, lovelyz), OR the discographies of any of the groups i listed in the big or moderately successful category above, but I think those songs would just be easier to find if you just look up collections of 2nd or 3rd gen girl group music.

other groups i remember but never rlly got into: glam (problematic but made some fun songs), tiny-g, sunnyhill, rania (dr feel good is still iconic), berrygood

Am bored so heres my headcanon on what kpop artists Yakuza characters would listen to.

Disclaimer: I'm not that familiar with anything recent in the kpop. The most recent you would see here is around mid-2010s.

Kiryu

Of course his no. 1 idol is Haruka. But for kpop it would have to be Girls Generation.

Its all because while playing Y5 where hes a taxi driver and takes place in 2012. I concluded that he has to have listened to Mr Taxi and was like "thats me :)" and i guess from then on he considered himself a SONE (or just a fan idk if he would know about fandom names lol)

Majima

A girl group/solo artists stan.

Definitely a huge inspiration for Goromi and her performances lol

And his collection of albums played for all the Majima Construction crew while they work.

I made a Goromi playlist (priv atm) which I just put in a bunch of female kpop artists in.

This includes artists like Kara, 9Muses, EXID, Miss A, Sunmi, Hyuna, AOA, Sistar, T-ara, Brown Eyed Girls, Lee Hyori, After School...and yeah alot of artists i put in lol

Akiyama

This was all based on a meme I saw on twitter where Akiyama is a Blackjack on stan twitter lol

So I can see Akiyama being a fan of 2NE1. Started listening to them when he saw it was popular with the hostesses and staff of club Elise and they shared it with him.

Tanimura

He would listen to a general amount of artists but would have a lot of interest in artists that have an international appeal...Wonder Girls "nobody" anyone?

(...OK that is the thing with kpop lol especially since it has a presence in Japan for awhile)

I mean like a multicultural image or just have non-Korean members. I can see Tanimura immediately taking interest in those types.

And of course anything that's popular with the Little Asia community lol

Shinada

Definitely into girl groups. Particularly ones that would have sexy dance moves which become popular and iconic later on.

And look Shinada has certain assets...

So he really likes to try out popular dances that usually involve using his tush in some way lmao.

Ex. Girls Day "Expectation" "Female President", Sistar "So Cool" "Touch my Body", AoA "Miniskirt", Kara "Mister"

Mine

This is probably very biased of me XD giving my favorite character my ultimate bias group.

Ahh yes Infinite the "Idols of Obsession" ...hmmm..

I imagine he isn't the type to follow celebrities nor have the time or interest to.

BUT BUT one day he listened to one of their songs and couldn't help but think of...a certain someone...

He doesn't considers himself a inspirit but he did walk into a music shop and bought a few albums, went home and spent his break listening to their discography while having AMVs take place in his brain.

Daigo

I'm aware of his emo taste so I tried here ^_^*

I decided to go with that Daigo listens to kpop bands. From my head it'd be CN Blue, FT island, LEDapple.

A non-band it HAS to be Dreamcatcher, another one maybe Vixx'; their dark concept songs mainly.

Haruka

I can see the idol herself listening to some idols for inspo lol

Few artists I thought of were Orange Caramel, Crayon Pop, Twice, f(x), Wonder Girls, Blackpink..

I can see her getting into some boy groups especially when it's what her friends and peers are into.

In the boy group power battle, Exo showed their Monster popularity, winning over Crooked! In round 2, they bested a girl group icon, beating DDD by EXID! Exo proved that they're no Wannabe winner when they won against Itzy in Round 3!

Monster is Exo's 2nd most viewed MV, and it won the Exo preliminary with 27% of votes! This is a classic dark and powerful boy group song, and even almost 7 years later this song holds up with current boy group songs!

Round 1 match 38 was difficult for voters, and deciding the winner was like a game of Russian Roulette! Red Velvet lost, but came back for a second round! Their luck turned around in round 2, when they won against 9Muses's Dolls! Their winning streak continued against Dalshabet's Someone Like U in Round 3!

Russian Roulette is Red Velvet's 3rd most viewed MV! Although this song is cute and bright, the unique MV shows the girls toying with danger. What an iconic bop!

Taemin won in a landslide victory in Round 1, with his song Move-ing on over Blackpink! And in the Taemin-VS-Taemin battle during round 2, most voters Pressed the button for this song instead of Press Your Number! Taemin proved that he is Mr. popular when he won in Round 3 over Kara!

Move is Taemin's most viewed MV, and with his seductive voice and suaveness, it's no wonder why! And come on, that chorus choreography is among the most iconic in Kpop.
