You ever join a fandom really excited about other people's takes on certain scenes and plot twists but then look at the barren wastelands and realise that there are no other people in the fandom and you will die being the only one with any knowledge on how good this piece of art is?

why is book lovers by emily henry so good!? holy heck. like u think Charles Lastra is gonna be this dark, broody guy but he is literally a SWEETHEART. he is kind to nora! he is kind to everyone. it just warms my heart how much of a not-asshole he is. omg. and I actually believed their love story. usually I'm so skeptical of the whole falling in love very quickly thing but their chemistry was UNDENIABLE. aaah. it turned me from a romance book hater to a romance book lover.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry Review
Wow. Just wow. I have to start by saying I never have (and maybe never will) trust another author the way I trust Henry to lead me through and give me the exact book I need to read.
And this book is now my Bible. It reached me on such a deep level and affected me like no book has in years. I wrote in my journal about it.
I adore Nora. She reads a little chilly at first, but trust Henry, Nora’s character’s unraveling is gorgeous.
Charlie. Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie CHARLIE. Love of my life. New book boyfriend. Setter of standards. Raiser of the bar. Henry’s love interests never disappoint, but Charlie is definitely my favorite.
Now to get down to the meat (spoiler-free!):
Henry is a magician with this book. Just toeing the line between crossing into the fourth dimension (recognizing that they’re in a fictional world), acknowledging tropes while putting her own unique (and sometimes surprising) twists on them. I’ve read books about books before, and this is absolutely the most well-done example of that style. The prose, as it always is with Henry, is gorgeous. So many quotes I highlighted and put my hand to my chest while reading.
The plot is exciting; You can recognize the bones of tropes, but Henry really adds her unique touch to them, therefore, making the book surprising and heart-warming. Things are just a touch unpredictable, which is the perfect combination for a reader (like me) with a little anxiety who doesn’t want to read a carbon copy of the last book they read.
I love the way it deviates from the typical third-act breakup. Reading this didn’t cause me stress, but just the right amount of hurt. I’m very particular about needless breakups or conflicts just for the plot, but every event in this book served a clear purpose for character development.
But my personal favorite thing about this book (potential spoiler, but not really, because it is a romance) is the love. This is my favorite love I’ve ever read. I love the way they love each other. It’s unique, gentle, respectful, passionate, motivating, and everything I think love should be.
Overall, this is the best book I’ve read in 2022. Emily Henry is definitely now my favorite author. Emily Henry, if you're reading this, I want to be you when I grow up. I love you I love you I love you. ❤️
5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm not used to giggling when I read straight romance novels, but emily henry must have put some drugs in 'book lovers' because I'm OBSESSED! with nora and charlie! together, apart, flirting, arguing... I'm laughing, jumping up and down, silly reading this book. emily henry's other novels haven't even come close to the way book lovers is inhabiting my brain.

Maybe love shouldn’t be built on a foundation of compromises, but maybe it can’t exist without them either. Not the kind that forces two people into shapes they don’t fit in, but the kind that loosens their grips, always leaves room to grow.
Compromises that say, there will be a you-shaped space in my heart, and if your shape changes, I will adapt. No matter where we go, our love will stretch out to hold us, and that makes me feel like … like everything will be okay.
