i think steampianist's thing really suits kabukimono. the speaker in the song struggles to convey emotions properly and wishes to have certain traits ("hair like yours," "hands like yours," "eyes to stare and to cry with," "fingers that curl in the cold"), which can be read as fervently coveting to look and feel "normal." or, in kabukimono's case, to look and feel human.

like the speaker in the song, kabukimono cannot understand or show certain emotions, and so he learns from those around him (like a sponge absorbing new information) about human life. he hides his true nature as a puppet and learns how to live as a human, but as human as he may act he can never truly be human if the parameters set for what it means to be human are that (1) you must have a heart and (2) your lifespan must be finite (which are parameters kabukimono thinks equals humanity). he has neither of these, which is why he never truly views himself as a human even though you could argue that being "human" simply means you are a complex individual who can feel, think, speak, and articulate (all things kabukimono is capable of).

as the song nears its conclusion, it's implied that the speaker hurt or killed their friends in some way, and you learn that all along this "thing" has wanted companionship and to feel and display emotions properly. but something goes wrong and the result is this eerie line: "struggling only makes the hugs much tighter." both kabukimono and the speaker in the song are driven by their obsessions, and both have bloodied their hands as the result of their circumstances (kabukimono's motivation for murder being revenge and the speaker's most likely being the threat of their friends leaving, so they become determined to make them stay even if it ends in death).

and by the end, the speaker still continues to wish for the traits mentioned above. likewise, kabukimono continues in his travels after sating his hunger for revenge and with "human" traits he has learned and experienced throughout his journey, only to soon step onto the path that leads him to becoming a harbinger once he comes to believe that his "humanity" is a sign of weakness. and so he does away with the things that made him human and starts a new era of his existence (albeit a more violent, cruel one), much like how the speaker in the song will probably continue to search for a way to express themselves in socially acceptable ways.

i think popopo could also fit kabukimono in that it's a song about an alien who travels from planet to planet in hopes of finding a home and a friend, but no one accepts or wants him so he is constantly shunned and lonesome. thus he is a "shooting star sinking in the spacey, black tar" with "hopes and dreams in teardrops," which are lines that fit kabukimono so much!

#meraki mumbles #yandere scaramouche #'thing' is one of my favorite songs from steampianist #and 'the botanist' and 'the detective' are also so good because they're intertwined within the same storyline #i adore everything about 'the botanist' because not only are the lyrics and instrumental brilliantly composed #the story itself is also so good!!!#a botanist who is 'allergic to humans' has become infatuated with a woman he sees from the windows in his lab #and this woman is allergic to flowers so she doesn't interact with the botanist often #but this only causes him to grow more obsessed #you learn in 'the detective' that the botanist is the one responsible for killing women and taking out their hearts #who the detective has been searching for to solve what felt like an unsolvable case #until the conjoined storylines are interrupted by the plot in 'black hole' which is the result of a shunned scientist creating a black hole #to prove everyone who doubted and ignored her wrong #(a song that really fits dottore)#'unrequited love and he who sleeps beneath' is also really good because the lovecraftian references are very *chef's kiss*#but also because it's a song that reminds me of azul #the singer gets her heart broken and is mentally weak enough for the old ones to invade her mind #if that isn't azulcore i do not know what is

the anons are making assumptions which i'm confused about, but than again i am just all over the place sometimes so i get it. i have never said i was above "drama" can't consider this last thing as drama honestly considering the topic and disgust i am feeling, oh and being petty and mean. its just reserved for one person and associates cause i enabled some bullshit with him being a depressed loser. now i just say whatever on my blog and deal with it like an adult. its good to suffer consequences for yapping.

No need to worry, the screams of fury emanating from her room are just because she made the terrible decision to read someone else’s list of the ‘100 Best Classic Fiction Works in English’

#Usually it wouldn't bother me that we disagree on some of the items on the list- that's a good thing!#And the point in looking at lists like this is to find out other people's opinions and recommendations #And you always know they're going to be biased #And the fact that it's male dominated isn't all that surprising especially for adult literature #However #What really got to me was this particular individual this utter HAM included children's literature #And that's where the gender bias not only became obvious; but it also became clear that this wasn't a list of classic books #This was just a list of the only books this guy had read #Female writers wrote a hefty portion of what we traditionally call children's classics #I know this because I actually read fiction as a child (adulthood less so)#And unlike this journalist I was diagnosed with Little Girl and therefore expected to read books by both men AND women #I'm not angry at this guy; he's obviously made the attempt to unlearn some of his assumptions #Especially with adult fiction #I'm more saddened by how obvious it is that boys of his generation were expected to only read books about boys; by men #And then we wonder why they grow up with a bias towards works by men as adults?#I just thought children's classics had to be an exception; even if they read stuff by men in other areas SURELY they'd read classics #like the Secret Garden or the Railway Children or Black Beauty especially in cases where the woman only used initials so you couldn't tell #It was a stupid fucking idea to put children's literature on the same list as adult classics anyway as children's lit is such a huge genre #But I'm sorry I read Robert Louis Stevenson (loved it) and Jack London and Mark Twain and Kenneth Grahame just like this guy #So I don't understand how he managed to miss out on everything except Little Women (which is sometimes marketed to adults which may explain)#It's not news of course that boys are often not expected to read books that aren't about boys we know this #What really got me is a) I would have thought the books often (rightly or wrongly) marketed as 'classics' would have been exempt from this #And b) now I know this dude didn't do his due diligence when creating this list because he clearly didn't think he needed to go back #and expand his knowledge of children's literature before throwing his list together based on what he personally read as a boy #Like personally if I was going to make the controversial decision to add children's lit to an already controversial list of classics #I for one know that I should go back and read the things I missed out on as a kid #For example my knowledge of children's classics is thoroughly determined by mid-twentieth century British views #Hence I read a lot of stuff from the Edwardian era #Hence I also didn't read many books by non-white writers- something which I now know to have been dictated by outside circumstances #So I would be very hesitant to just list off as 'the best children's books' all the ones I alone had read

Last September, the former star of Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s was convicted of orchestrating the murder of his nephew Andre Montgomery Jr. A federal jury found Norman guilty of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire, and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.

Tim Norman Received Two Life Sentences For “Cold-Blooded Execution” Of His Nephew

U.S. District Judge John A. Ross gave Norman two life sentences for “a cold-blooded, incredibly premeditated, planned execution of your nephew.”

Tim Norman sought to make $450,000 by having his nephew, Andre Montgomery, killed. Instead, he was caught and will spend the rest of his life in prison. Although Andre’s family was robbed of their loved one, hopefully this result will provide some measure of peace and justice for them,” said U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming in a press release.

Fans of the Sweetie Pie’s show will remember the aftermath of Andre’s tragic death playing out on the OWN program. The pain was unbearable for Norman’s mother, Sweetie Pie’s founder Robbie Montgomery, who lost Norman’s father and brother (Andre’s father) to violence. Now Ms. Robbie has lost another son and 21-year-old grandson to greed in this 2016 shooting.

Norman didn’t speak on his behalf at the sentencing hearing, but his attorneys submitted letters from family and friends requesting leniency. Despite the damning evidence against Norman, Ms. Robbie pleaded for her last surviving son.

“I don’t know whether Tim did what he was accused and convicted of. He is still the baby that I bore, and I love him as every mother involved loves their child,” Ms. Robbie wrote in her letter.

Since his arrest in 2020, Norman maintained his innocence in the heinous crime. He even Norman blamed “corrupt cops” for arresting him in retaliation for Black Lives Matter protests. Although the 43-year-old didn’t pull the trigger, he pulled all the strings to kill his nephew and collect a huge payday from the family tragedy.

Tim Norman portrayed one image to the public, but there were more sinister intentions lurking underneath. And the measure of someone’s character is what they do when they think no one is watching. When he thought no one was watching, he planned the execution of his nephew and carried it out, ” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Angie Danis at the sentencing hearing.

Tim Norman Still Takes No Accountability Despite Co-Conspirators’ Confessions

Travell Anthony Hill plead guilty to shooting Andre for $5,000 and received a 32-year sentence. Terica Taneisha Ellis was sentenced to three years in prison after admitting Norman paid her $10,000 to lure Montgomery to Hill. Insurance agent Waiel “Wally” Rebhi Yaghnam got a three-year sentence for helping Norman apply and file claims for multiple fraudulent life insurance policies on Montgomery.

“Five families, especially that of the victim, are suffering and irreparably harmed as a result of Norman’s plot to have his own nephew murdered,” said Special Agent in Charge Jay Greenberg of the FBI. “At least all his co-conspirators have accepted responsibility. To this day, Norman hasn’t accepted responsibility despite the fact 12 jurors unanimously convicted him after seeing and hearing seven days of evidence in trial.”

Last week, Norman used the same excuses debunked by the evidence and confessions from his co-conspirators.

Thank you for all the prayers. I’m still in disbelief. The feds know 100% I did not do those insurance policies. But the jury didn’t get to hear that. And not one person got on the stand and said that I told them to hurt my nephew. They destroyed my name and image so you guys wouldn’t search for the truth,” he wrote on Instagram.

I find it funny how I've never noticed the difference in how people treat me until now. Like at my job it always seems like someone is keeping an eye on me or constantly asking me if I needed help even though I've worked there for a year now.
