When it comes to Loser Baby, I feel so especially moved. Angel sits there depressed, frustrated because while he wants to get better, he also needs his escape from this life. He blames himself for everything as we see in Poison (“the worst part of this hell is I can only blame myself.”)
Then Husk begins the song, but instead of dreaming for a better day, Husk tells him that yes, Angel did fuck up. But that doesn’t mean shit to him or anyone else in the hotel.
Just because it’s Angel’s “fault” doesn’t mean he isn’t worthy of love. It doesn’t mean he deserves the way people treat him. And It doesn’t mean that he will be met with judgement when he opens up to his friends. He doesn’t need to be a perfect person to be worthy of his life.
By owning it, he’s removing the shame from the equation. The situation sucks, but whether it was his mistake or not, he can live for tomorrow knowing he’s not alone.
