Preview of ❝The Little Human Experiment❞ [Legoshi]
Summary: Misaki was just your typical teenage girl living in Japan, but not in the eyes of her society. She's a human in a life where animals live and think like "humans" in our society. She is now brought in as an experiment for her new life outside her facility to see if humans can co-exist with different other species. A certain wolf gets quite attached to our human friend as he is tasked to protect her.
"Going already?" Mei asked as Misaki grabbed her bag. "Yeah, I have to go over there now to facilitate the choreography for the Light Ceremony," Misaki said as she patted Haru's head. "Get back soon!" Haru waved at her human friend before she left.
Misaki opened her phone to text Shiela that she would go to the clubroom as soon as she walked down the stairs. As she made her way to the clubroom though, she witnessed Juno carrying a sloth to the restroom. "Misaki-senpai!" Juno greeted with a smile as she placed the sloth down. "Ah, hello, Juno. Late for rehearsal?" Misaki asked as they walked to the clubroom together.
"Yeah, I am. I apologize. Are you late too, Misaki-senpai?" Juno asked as Misaki texted Shiela once again that Juno was with her. "Not really. I come in and out of the clubroom as I have two clubs to deal with," she shared. "Woah, really? You must be very busy then. It's still remarkable as you're still the assistant head," Juno had great admiration for the human as she clung to her.
"Assistant director, but still the same," Misaki corrected as she opened the door. "Sorry, I'm late!" Juno announces her arrival while still holding onto Misaki. Misaki raised an eyebrow as she noticed how tense the room was until they came in the room. The majority of the members went up to the two.
"Come on, Juno! You're supposed to text Sheila-senpai when you're late," Els informed the first-year. "She was carrying a sloth to the restroom, so her hands were occupied. It was very kind of you, Juno," Misaki acknowledges Juno's willingness. "Why, thank you, Misaki-senpai!" Juno was happy with Misaki's compliment.
"I've also made sure that Shiela got the memo and to not get you in trouble, so no need to worry," Misaki shared as everyone was wow-ed by Misaki's consideration. "But it doesn't excuse me for being late, so I want to clean the training hall after school. Sorry, Louis-senpai," Juno apologized as she bowed.
"Oh, Legoshi-senpai!" Juno called out to the gray wolf. "I saw the dinosaur in the plaza. It was really pretty. The stage crew is doing their best, so we actors are going to do our best with our dancing practice. We're very inspired!" Juno smiled widely and only had her eyes on him. "...Mm, good, good," Legoshi doesn't seem affected by Juno's comment.
"Yeah, you guys did great. Seeing as it's also my first time seeing it, I'm proud of each one of you. I'll be sure to take pictures of all of them when they're finished," Misaki smirked and showed that her lock screen was now the T-Rex Statue they painted, making sure she looked everyone in the eye.
"Aww, Misaki!" Dom looked flattered. "I'm happy it exceeded your expectations!" Kibi smiled as everyone in the creatives team was appreciative of Misaki's honest remark. "Ah, speaking of, Misaki," Shiela walked up to the human and dragged her towards Louis. "We have some sudden news to share with you," she shared as Louis glared at the cheetah due to her comment before.
"Yes, Sanu suggested that you'll be our main dancer," Louis mentioned and Misaki was shocked. "What!? What do you mean? I'll be at the front?" Misaki covered her mouth with her hand. "One of our dancers won't be available for the festival and you know the dances well. So, they made Juno be back up and you in the center since you know the dance very well," he shared.
"There's only two days left though," she looked worried. "You'll do fine, you the entire dance anyway," Louis was confident. "Did... did Tarok tell you that I'll be revealed too? Is that why you weren't opposed to it?" Misaki asked.
"Yes, he did tell me. I asked his permission for the dance and he's fine with it. You won't be wearing that get-up anymore," Louis smirked and Misaki sighed. "Fine, fine. I'll do it. I'll text Haru that I have a big role here so they won't have to worry about my whereabouts," Misaki shared as she went to grab her phone to text her.
"We'll do a quick fitting with you. I'm sure they'll just readjust one of the existing outfits," Louis told her as Misaki was ready to walk away. "I'll let Legoshi know," Louis smirked upon seeing Misaki frozen in place. He chuckled and patted her back and walked away from her to talk to Legoshi. She quickly ran to the changing room and walked out wearing her PE Uniform.
"Woah, you do have fur in your legs," Juno wondered as she gave a close inspection of Misaki's legs. "They're called Hair for humans. Despite it being short and thin, they make sure they regulate our body temperature and keep dirt away such as my lashes here," Misaki pointed her eyes to let Juno get a closer look.
"Woah, they're so tiny," Juno giggled. As everyone was talking to Misaki and was excited to see her fully perform on stage, Legoshi kept his eyes only on her. He looked up and down her figure as he felt aroused by her appearance.
"Stop eye fucking, my sister." Legoshi snapped out of it and shrank away as Louis glared at him. Louis was most annoyed upon seeing Legoshi's wagging tail when Misaki came into the room. "Sister?" Legoshi questioned. "She's like a sister to me, so don't go hurting her," Louis crossed his arms as it would seem that he was finally open for Misaki to be together with Legoshi.
"So whatever happened before they came in was a misunderstanding on your part," Louis pointed out. "You got the tape measure ready?" Louis asked.
"Oh, yeah, I do," Legoshi went to pull it out, "Fix your problem first," Louis interrupted and he walked away. "Problem?" Legoshi questioned. He looked down to see a tent in his pants. He panics and quickly runs to the restroom. He could not believe he just had a hard-on. It embarrassed him more to notice his tail wagging faster than ever. He really wants to disappear.
"Where's Legoshi?" Misaki asked after she got away from the questioning members. "He went to the restroom real quick. Dom will be measuring you instead," Louis informed her as he tried hiding his laughter, which Misaki noticed but she didn't question it. She would truly have a heart attack if she knew that she had such an effect on Legoshi.

The thing I like about making Beastars OCs and fanfic is taking random obscure or interesting facts or abilities animals have and translating it into humanized characters. Instincts might become cultural practices. Misnomers might become stereotypes. Maybe a mouse might cut themselves off from their family because every visit means a mouse colony of hundreds showing up at their doorstep. Maybe otters who hold hands out of anxiety are tired of being assumed to be a couple. Maybe a rabbit is terrified of parenthood because they’ve heard horror stories of rodents devouring their own young. Maybe penguins get engaged with stones instead of rings. So many things can just work their way into societal settings in such interesting ways.
Anyway, I would like to now get off the 4 pounds of crack I seem to have consumed

Hi! If it's ok can you do some headcanon for legoshi,Pina, and Louis who having a s/o with mature personalitty.
(I love your work btw)
Legoshi, Pina, and Louis reacting to having a s/o with a mature personality:
Warning(s): violence (kinda), burnout
A/N: Sorry it is so short!
Tumblr media
LEGOSHI:
-> I would like to say that Legoshi is pretty mature
-> so you guys kind of just vibe together
-> definitely the married parents of the group
-> I can imagine that on dates you would have two of everything (two blankets, two cups, etc)
-> he is overall very sweet when it comes to mature people
PINA:
-> opposites attract
-> you help call him down and notch his ego down a little
-> he also likes it that you basically tale care of him
-> like you just become the designated parent of the relationship
-> you know the dynamic that is like “Person A who has a backpack with everything they might need in it and Person B who carries nothing with them?” yeah Person A is you and Person B is Pina
-> if you ever overwork yourself then Pina will just drop everything and take care of you
LOUIS:
-> power. couple.
-> all I gotta say is that you and Louis become a power couple
-> you always make sure that Louis has enough water during performances and that Bill and Legoshi do not get into another fight
-> when Louis is either emotionally or physically tired you take over the theater until he gets better
*** Taglist (if you want to be added/removed from the taglist, just ask me!):

For some reason, I got an idea for a plot that took place in a Victorian Era AU and included some heavy homoerotic undertones (and overtones, eventually). And since I’m rewatching Beastars and being mentally ill about it again, I made some Lougoshi fanfic out of it.
Summary: This is a historical AU that takes place in the late 19th century in Europe, in the Victorian Era. Legoshi is a set and backdrop artist in a community theatre group. Louis is in the same group, but one of the lead male actors. During rehearsals for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the wolf and the deer both stay behind to work on their respective crafts, and end up bumping into each other. Louis takes an interest in the aspiring artist, becoming his patron. They each learn new things about their crafts, and tensions rise as they test their new dynamic — the herbivore starting to enjoy holding power over a carnivore.

So I kinda got back into Beastars after rewatching season 1 while working on stuff, will soon start season 2 (and prolly try to finish getting all the volumes even tho am missing 16 volumes).
Of course I fell back into loving LouGoshi and now I kinda want to read some fanfic.
Does anyone have good LouGoshi rec? Preferably stories that are completed. Am not really picky either, as long as it's not heavy whump and/or bad ending imma prolly be into it. Maybe not 100k and kire words either i suppose, seeing how my brain struggles to focuse at times.

Since this is the two year anniversary of when I started writing Melon’s Redemption, I decided it was time to rewrite the description (I wrote the original back when I still didn’t know where the fic would go (the manga hadn’t even ended yet!) so it really needed the update!).
The link to the fanfic is here if anyone is interested! 🍈 🦁

Fanfic - Caught in a Capsule Part 2: Newfound Coffee Mates (PKNA x Beastars)
PART 1 | part 2 | PART 3 COMING SOON...
READ NOW ON AO3!
I returned to a conscious state aware of a numbness throughout my arm. My eyes shot open. I wondered what was suddenly causing this. As I looked to my right, a sea of matted gray fur gave me my answer.
I exhaled. “Legoshi, you’re on top of my arm,” I hissed, straining to yank my numb appendage free.
It wasn’t uncommon for the events in my past to plague me with nightmares, nor for me to believe the worlds of my dark dreams and reality would cross over. But here I was, safe, in the capsule I had booked for us earlier in the night.
My earlier remark hadn’t just fallen on deaf ears; it fell on snoring ears. I shook his shoulder with my free hand. “Get off me, you idiot,” I grunted.
“Head hurts…” Legoshi breathed. He rolled over and I took that opportunity to pull my arm free from under his chest. The pins and needles came in full force as I opened and closed my hand to get the blood flowing again.
“I’m never sharing a capsule with you again,” I whispered tersely. As my right arm began to feel normal again, I became aware of my thirst. Checking my phone, I saw it was indeed morning. 7:39 am. As good a time as any to get another day started. I rose up and stretched the best I could in the cramped space, then crawled to the capsule entrance, undid the shutter, and opened the door. Looking to my right brought me face to face with a European-looking duck with sideburns.
“Oh! Did I wake you? I apologize.” I kept my voice low to avoid waking other guests.
“It’s quite alright,” the duck responded. “I was already awake.” The first surprise of the day, a foreigner knowing perfect Japanese. “Is your arm okay?” the duck continued, “Poor circulation is a recipe for disaster.”
“Don’t worry about me,” I responded. He must’ve heard me. These capsule walls were thin. “I can handle my friend.”
“You consider me a friend?” asked Legoshi.
I turned back to him. He was sitting up, eyes shut, good ear twitching. “I’m in a capsule hotel with you in yesterday’s clothes after you drank more plum wine than a grizzly bear,” I remarked. “The situation speaks for itself.”
“Uno, what’s all the racket?” quacked another duck in English. So I was talking to Uno. Was that name Spanish or Italian? And who was this other male duck with him?
Uno looked back. “Nothing, hero,” he said in English. “Just chatting with our neighbors.”
So this Uno was multilingual, impressive. But why did he call the other duck “hero?” Like a superhero?
“Tell ‘em to go back to sleep,” came the other voice. “My head hurts.” You’re not the only one, duck-san.
“As you crawl out to see for yourself,” Uno quipped. Uno focused back on me and the “hero” stuck his head out to see what was going on. Uno blinked. The other duck’s eyes grew wide and he quacked in shock. His hand slipped on the capsule’s hard plastic edge and he lost his balance and tumbled, rear over tea kettle onto the thin carpet below.
“What happened?” I asked. Uno pointed above me. Looking behind me, I saw Legoshi the gray wolf looking out with an empty gaze. His bad bedhead was especially bad this morning. How a lumbering klutz like him snuck up on us, I’ll never know. He looked down at the duck below laying with his rear in the air, then back up to Uno. “Is he okay?” he murmured.
Uno chuckled nervously. “He will be. Since we’re all wide awake now, would you like to join us for coffee?”
Legoshi yawned for what seemed like minutes, baring his fangs toward our capsule neighbors.
I said, “I know a place nearby.”
+++
It was a short walk to the café nearest to the hotel. I sniffed my maroon sweatshirt and the stale plum wine made my head hurt even more. My first hangover and it made me not want to drink alcohol ever again. Ducks are a rarity on this side of the world yet I, like others, found them endlessly fascinating. The way their feet slapped on the sidewalk with each step, the majestic beak, the…brazenness of not wearing pants. If anyone told me I would wake up after my 20th birthday and get coffee with two ducks that happened to be in the capsule next to us, I’d have not believed them.
But then, I stopped listening to those questions long ago.
The café was dimly lit and smelled of cinnamon inside, calming me. The duck called Uno volunteered to stand in line for coffee, so we hunted- er, searched for a table for us and his companion. I slid into the inside of the booth while Louis sat beside me. The duck in the sailor suit took the other side. He was so small, especially compared to me. I wondered who should start the conversation. Out of the corner of my eye, Louis was busy checking his phone. The duck was glancing between us. Did he even know any Japanese?
I found out as he cleared his throat and pointed at himself. “Uh, w-watashi wa namae wa…uh…Donald desu,” he said, trying his hardest to talk to us.
Louis shook his head, but I was glad he even gave it a shot. Before I could respond, Louis said, “Not bad, but we know English if that’s more comfortable for you.”
Donald the duck blinked. “Oh. Really? Thanks. I appreciate it.”
Louis excelled at English. He needed it for his work at Horns. I couldn’t express myself as eloquently as he could, but I wasn’t worried about sounding like a fool.
“My name is Louis, and the wolf is named Legoshi.” Louis gestured his antlers toward me.
“Hi,” I mumbled, waving. “I, er, don’t see ducks in Japan very often.” I wanted to understand him as much as possible, like with all creatures.
“Well, me and Uno are on vacation,” said Donald. “We’re from the USA.”
“I see,” nodded Louis.
“Y’know, I have a nephew named Louie,” said Donald, beaming. “Llewelyn, actually. My sister named him.”
“Lewrelyn…? Loolehwyn-“ The name died in my snout and I shook my head out. That letter still gave me trouble every now and again. So much for not sounding like a fool.
“And that’s why he’s Louie,” Donald said with a chuckle. “Don’t worry about it.”
I felt my cheeks getting hot anyway and I hoped Donald couldn’t see my blush. Well out of high school and I still couldn’t help it sometimes.
That’s when Uno returned, drink carrier in hand. “Right,” he said, “black coffee with sugar?”
“That’s for me,” said Louis, grabbing the cup Uno set in front of him.
“Cappuccino with soy milk?”
“Thank you very much.” I nodded and received the next cup.
“Chai latte for me, and a double Americano for you. And for all of us,” Uno said, setting down a loaded plate in the middle of the table, “assorted pastries.”
Donald took the only remaining cup as Uno took his seat next to him. “Thanks, Uno,” said the sailor duck.
“Nothing like a warm cup of coffee to stimulate you after last night, eh?” Louis asked me.
“Is that why you rented a capsule?” Uno inquired. “They’re very convenient for late-night wanderers like ourselves.”
“Especially when someone here drank an entire bottle of plum wine down to the last drop,” said Louis, nudging me in the side.
This embarrassment seemed never ending. “It tasted good!” I defended. “And I don’t have much experience with alcohol.” I scratched the back of my neck.
“What was the occasion?” Donald asked, sipping his coffee.
“Legoshi’s 20th birthday,” Louis answered.
Donald spat out his sip, turning toward the wall just in time. “Wait, you’re only 20?!” he choked. “You’re huge! And you’re just a kid!”
I laughed. “I’m doing well for myself. I have an apartment, a job and a girlfriend.” Saying it out loud made me feel proud. “Of course, I’m nowhere near Louis.”
“Have some pride in your situation, though,” said Louis.
“May I ask, are you a sailor or is that a school uniform?” I asked, staring at Donald’s attire.
Donald looked at his shirt, then smiled. “Oh, no, it’s just what I’ve worn all my life, even when I was in school. They never required uniforms though, thank heavens.”
“How far removed from school are you, if I may?” Louis asked.
“I’m 36.”
It was my turn to be shocked. “Y-you’re so tiny! And you’ve lived that long? Amazing!”
“It’s not much either, but I’ve done some living of my own.”
Uno eyed Donald. “My turn to say you should have pride for your situation.”
“You’re right, Uno, especially when it brought us to such a neat place.”
I wanted to ask,” said Louis, “what have you done in Japan so far?”
“We went on a bar crawl last night, but we haven’t had proper time for sightseeing,” said Uno.
I made a decision. “Do you want to spend the day with us?”
“Are you sure you’re up for that?” said Louis. “Do you remember what you did last night? And what about your clothes?”
I remembered that plum wine smell that made my throat burn. “You’re right. I could get this washed at the hotel, and we could visit the baths to pass the time.”
“I’m game,” said Donald. “I could use a bath as well.”
My tail began thumping against my seat. This was shaping up to be a great morning.

Carnation
Notes: Recently re-watched this entire series and became obsessed all over again. Technically, this is set in the context of Louis/Haru/Legoshi, but it’s more implied than anything. Set vaguely somewhere in-between season one and two.
Fun fact, I actually love Haru and think she deserves way more fics than she gets.
Summary: Haru discovers a new way to cheer up her brooding wolf.
“What does this one mean, then?”
There was a cool breeze, startling the blossoms and sending them withering back. One of those days that was akin to summer in proximity alone, but it was clear autumn had started to take its hold. Days like this were meant for staying outside, going on walks, exploring the city and hanging out with friends. Legoshi was spending his kneeling by a certain rabbit who quirked a brow at the question.
“Do you really care?” Haru asked, glancing towards the flower he had indicated regardless. A white carnation, standing tall and true against the sky. She had helped nurse some back to health recently after a fight had broken out amongst the students and they had been trampled near beyond repair. Not that she minded helping the poor things, but she couldn’t help but feel bad. They were small, vulnerable beings, always on the verge of death if you weren’t careful—just like her. “I must be boring you by now. You don’t really seem like the gardening type, no offense.”
“No,” Legoshi admitted after a moment of hesitance. He said most things hesitantly, like he was searching for just the right words. Haru could never decide whether it was inconvenient or endearing. “I’m not. But I find it soothing when you talk about it. You make it seem more interesting than botany class ever did.”
Haru felt a glimmer of pride rise up that she quickly squashed. Instead, she carefully snuck her front two fingers under the flower’s base, tugging it towards them gently. “Flattery will get you nowhere, my dangerous friend. As it so happens, however, I enjoy talking about it too, so I suppose there’s no harm in indulging. This one’s a pure white carnation. Put simply, it means innocence, or innocent love, depending on your interpretation. Not necessarily romantic, though that’s usually what it’s used for.”
“Pure white, huh?”
Haru stiffened as Legoshi’s hand found hers under the flower, her heart rate rising despite herself. She knew he could tell, but to his credit, he didn’t mention it. “Just like you.”
“What?”
“You’re like the white carnation of animals.”
Haru blinked, taken aback, before a burst of laughter escaped her. Legoshi stared down at her, his confusion evident. “What? What did I say?”
Haru shook her head, still grinning as she pulled her hand away. “Nothing. You’re just a really strange guy, Legoshi.”
“I’m… sorry?”
“Don’t be. I like that about you. It’s honest, and that’s not something I get with many guys. Although I don’t know how accurate you are.” The grin dipped slightly, and Haru twisted back towards the flowers so he didn’t notice. “I’m not exactly the picture of innocence. I may be pure white on the outside, but inside I’m covered in stains.”
Haru could practically feel Legoshi’s eyes boring into her, burning a hole into her shoulder. She knew if she looked back she’d be faced with those worried puppy dog eyes, brows downcast in an empathetic misery he couldn’t help. She really hadn’t meant to make him sad. Melancholy was in her nature and she forgot sometimes how her ‘reflections’ might have an effect on others. It was better to solve this now before she’d endure the shower of praise Legoshi was sure to rain down on her.
Louis was better for these kinds of things. He was skilled in the art of silent pain himself, so he could understand the need to hurt without wanting meaningless assurances. Between him and Legoshi, it was the perfect balance, comfort and understanding.
For now, however, it was best to nip the oncoming speech from Legoshi in the bud.
“Hey, cheer up will you!” She smiled, a genuine one to let him know she was okay. She whirled behind him suddenly and wrapped her arms around his neck. He startled, arms raising as if to tear her off, but they quickly came back down once his body realized she wasn’t a threat. “Today we’re supposed to be happy—it’s the last day of summer break after all. I’m afraid there’s no frowning allowed on the premises.”
“I’m not sure that’s an actual policy—”
“It is as of now,” Haru determined solemnly. She drew one hand back to scratch under his chin gently, something she had seen other canine couples in school do on occasion. It was supposed to be relaxing, maybe even feel good, and while Haru did have to quickly sidestep due to Legoshi’s tail starting up on cue, she was met with a different reaction.
A sound that was half-growl, half-giggle slipped out as Legoshi jerked his head down in protection. “A-Ah, wait, Haru! What are you—hnn, n-not there!”
Haru paused where her hand has migrated closer to his ears. Laughter. That was a new sound from him. She wasn’t sure she had heard that yet, at least not in this genuine way.
“Oh. You’re ticklish.”
She could practically feel the embarrassment radiating off of the wolf at the question, his shoulders creeping up in defense. “A little. But I mean, isn’t everyone? It’s not that unusual.”
“Yes, but I just never assumed it would apply to big scary wolves too.”
Legoshi scoffed, rolling his eyes, though it was clear the gesture was forced out of nervousness. “I’d hardly call myself scary. Big, maybe. But I don’t think I’m any more frightening than any other predator.”
“You know what, I think you’re right.” Haru hummed happily as she once again started up with the gentle scratching, being extra light on purpose this time. “You’re not scary at all right now!”
And there it was again. That laughter, utterly unexpected from someone as brooding as him. Deep chuckles that shook his body as he gripped his knees, doing his level best not to shove her off. Even now, helpless, he was trying to protect her.
Well. That simply wouldn’t do.
She spidered her fingers back towards his ears, or specifically, the spot right underneath them that had started this whole mess. She was met with a high-pitched whimper followed by a stream of giggles as he gently shook his head, trying to shake her off.
His arms trembled with the effort of holding back, and despite his earlier protesting he was silent now, seemingly content to laugh and squirm under the light tickling. If he was trying to get her to stop, he was doing a miserable job of it.
“It’s funny,” Haru mused, half to herself. Another scribble, another bark of laughter. “It would be so easy to push me off—it’s hardly as if I’m overpowering you. And yet you’ve barely lifted a finger this whole time. One could be convinced that you actually like getting tickled like this.”
A soft, involuntary whine slipped out as Legoshi’s laughter transformed into something silly and embarrassed, giggles tripping over each other. Interesting. That seemed to have hit the nail right on its head. “I-I’d huhurt you,” he insisted, and though she could tell a part of him was genuine, it was clear his reluctance was for much different reasons.
“Please. You and I both know you’re capable of being gentle when you want to.” She paused, and, on the off-chance that he was telling the truth, amended, “I’ll stop if you ask, you know. If you really don’t like it.” She stopped while she waited for his response, and he almost seemed to follow her hands as she pulled them back—maybe she had imagined it.
He was silent, but he was usually silent. She had quickly learned that his awkward, loner attitude wasn’t just for show. Haru allowed him a couple minutes, pressing her face into the fur on the back of his neck while she waited. He was so soft and warm that she often found herself forgetting what a terrifying predator he could be.
“I guess I don’t mind it.”
“Oh?” She curled her hands into the fur on his shoulders and he tensed instinctually, waiting for an attack that wasn’t coming. “So I was right then?”
“I guess it’s kind of relaxing.” He had his musing voice on, and Haru was sure his mind was a million miles away. “It feels good to laugh. I usually don’t have a reason to, so it’s almost a relief to have it forced out of me.”
“You know, that sounds kind of sad.”
“Oh. Sorry.”
“What did I say about apologizing?”
“I—”
“Don’t say it again!”
There was a pause as Legoshi swallowed the apology and continued.
“It feels nice too. Kind of like a massage, but tickly at the same time. In a good way? I don’t know if that make sense. Like my body’s telling me to get away, but at the same time all I want to do is let you keep going.”
“Huh.” Haru walked her fingers up his shoulders and over the back of his neck. She could feel him cringe underneath her, see the hint of a smile already struggling at his face once more. It was funny; the glint of his teeth when he grinned used to make her nervous. She couldn’t imagine being scared of that expression now. “I thought this was supposed to be a familiar gesture for canines—a form of snuggling or something like that.”
“It is,” Legoshi allowed, his hands tightening around his leg as her fingers kept on walking, around his neck, sliding down to his collarbone, his chin ducking right along with them. “For most canines anyway. But most of them aren’t so…”
“Sensitive?”
A blush as his gaze flicked away. “Yeah. That.”
They were silent after that, time seeming to stretch on for an eternity as her fingers’ stroll continued. It wasn’t an awkward silence though. There was something comforting about the moment; sitting and listening to the occasional huff of breath that almost became a laugh; Legoshi never still, always squirming or twitching or jerking forward, like there were bugs crawling around his shirt. And of course, his tail, her failsafe indicator that it was possible he liked this even more than he had just admitted.
“This still okay?”
Her touch had strayed from his neck, tracing gently down his back, nails pressing lightly against his shirt.
“M-Mmhm.”
“And now?”
Grazing his sides, quick, spidery movements that darted back just as quick as they came. Legoshi choked on a strangled sound, trying to regain his composure—a mission that was failing miserably. The squirming had ramped up quite a bit, and if she concentrated, she could hear a light growl of protest emanating subconsciously from his chest. Haru grinned, a sense of triumph settling over her. Legoshi was always so quick to push things down and try to hide his true feelings, all in the guise of protecting her. Anytime she could prompt a real reaction from him was a success in her eyes.
“Legoshi?”
“What? O-Oh yeheah, still—” he broke off, scrunching his face up in concentration. “Still gohood."
He was trying so hard to stay still, and while it was incredibly endearing, Haru couldn’t help but push it.
“And here?”
She crawled her fingers quickly around his sides and onto his stomach, wiggling and digging into his shirt, slipping one hand under the fabric to get at the skin underneath. The last of his resolve came crumbling down as he burst into a stream of giggles, the sound going breathless at times as he fought to withstand the pleasant, but ultimately unbearable sensation.
“H-Hahaharu!” His legs trembled from the effort to stay crouched, his position swaying ever once in a while. He looked like he wanted to push her off, but in the end he grabbed the back of his neck instead, elbows darting inwards. “Hohohold ohohon!”
“And just why would I do that, hmm?” She could feel his stomach muscles twitching underneath her hands, striving to get away. Useless, but cute nonetheless. “Clearly you like this, you said so yourself, so I see no reason to stop.”
“Buhuhut ihihihit—” he cut himself off with a yelp when her hands darted lower, brushing over his lower stomach. He almost grabbed her hand, his own shooting down off instinct, but he managed to pull it up at the last second. Haru was almost impressed by his resolve. Had their positions been reversed, Haru would have given in the moment the tickling had begun.
She tweaked his sides, arching a brow. “But?”
He flushed, the muscles in his arms cording tighter as he held them stubbornly in place.
“Tickles? Is that what you were going to say? It tickles too much for the strong, dangerous wolf?”
Another growl, but he swallowed it down almost as quick as it came. “N-Nohohope, tohOHOTALLY—aha, eh, totally fihine.”
“I see,” Haru said musingly, pressing her lips together to try to prevent the dopey smile that was making an effort to take over her features. “So you wouldn’t mind if we kept this up for the next… what would that be? An hour? Louis isn’t expecting us till then, so we should be fine. I mean, if it’s really not bothering you.”
Legoshi shot her a betrayed look, but a sudden pinch to his hip ruined any concentration he might have had before he could answer. He yelped, his legs finally giving way as he stumbled backside first into the ground. And unfortunately for Haru who was behind him, that meant she was coming down too.
The result was a pile of two giggly highschoolers, each for very different reasons. Haru didn’t even try to get out from underneath him, too content to lay there in the moment.
“You know, you’re a lot more ticklish than I’d thought you’d be.”
A sigh, not offended, simply resigned to the fact. “That’s what Louis said too.”
“Louis knows?”
“Yes, and I’ve gotten him back for it every time. Maybe I don’t mind it, but he definitely overuses that privilege. Which reminds me…”
Before Haru could even begin to consider the implications of Louis being ticklish—she had never attempted to figure that particular bit of information out before, assuming it was off limits, like most things about Louis—Legoshi righted himself in one quick flash. He flipped over so that he was towering over her, one hand braced on either side of her head and a rare Legoshi smirk glittering across his face.
“Hey,” she said, a distraction from the way her heart was pounding.
“Hey,” he said back, not falling for it. He shifted his weight to one hand, bringing the other down to her side. Just resting, waiting, a promise and a request all at once. “You know, I think I deserve some revenge.”
“Oh?” Her voice was too pleasant due to nerves. She couldn’t tell if she was excited or anxious about this new turn of events—probably both. “Don’t you think that’s a bit unfair? Considering the strength disadvantage and all?”
“Hmm.” Legoshi considered it, tapping his fingers against her sides. Long nails adorned those fingers, nails that could rip somebody to shreds but now promised to be a ticklish threat she hadn’t yet considered. “I suppose. How about this. You tell me to stop, I stop. That seem fair?”
She knew she could say no. She hadn’t been tickled in quite a while, and from what she remembered of it, it was utterly unbearable and she could hardly stand it for the couple seconds it had taken then. Still. This was Legoshi. And he had looked cute like that, all giggly and smiley in a way Legoshi never was. Perhaps this could even be fun.
“You promise to stop if I ask?”
“The very second.”
She paused, a brief hesitance, before nodding her assent.
As it turned out, she was still ticklish, and it was unbearable, and exhilarating, and incredibly hard to sit still for; she had much greater respect for Legoshi now.
His hands were fanned out over her sides, brushing against the soft fur.
Pure white.
The innocence of first love.
Maybe Haru wasn’t a carnation, but they were. The two of them, in this moment.
A carnation of their very own.
