In terms of villains Bruce is most tempted to kill it’s mostly white collar criminals. Bruce Wang is actually in great danger of killing someone than the Bat ever is.

Fanfic writers please write some batfam + harvey stories or one shots. Not to be insufferably aro/ace but I mean that not as like "harvey dent is in a romantic relationship with Bruce n also there's batfam", but more like "Harvey is at a point where he can try to rebuild a life for himself outside of arkham even if his footing is shaky. Bruce is intensely supportive of him and so Harvey is inadvertently slowly Integrated into the batfam. Characters navigating situations tm. Typical comic book world shit throws a wrench into everything. Also Harvey being an outsider pov to the batfam and all the fun things it brings".
I am sorry. Is it obvious that Cor Et Cerebrum is doing something to my brain? Because its doing something to my brain.

“Shipping Batcest is harmful for real-life adopted families”
First of all, no, no it’s not. “Fictional people fans think should kiss” could not be more abstracted from real life. Get some fuckin perspective, mate.
Second of all, let’s be real here. You just don’t like it. It’s okay to just not like things, or to even be squicked by them. You don’t have to make up reasons why it’s actually bAaAaAaD. You can just go “it squicks me. Next!”
Thirdly, if your issue really is “I believe the very concept to be disrespectful to adopted families” there’s an easy fix for this.
The obvious solution?
Make them all blood related.
Boom. No more issues with “adopted vs. blood related family” anymore!
You’re welcome.
#clearly the only currently ethical Batcest ship is BruDami *nods sagely*#i don’t *need* people to ship Batcest.#it’s totally okay to NOT ship things!#i would just prefer it if people dropped the morality façade and were just open with the fact that they don’t like that people like things.#‘I think the way you play with your paper dolls on your own time is harmful in some vague way with literally no supportive evidence’#fucking LISTEN TO YOURSELVES.#you could be sparking joy for others!#this also conveniently ignores that canon is CONSTANTLY bouncing around#what the batkids think of each other/how Bruce categorized them in his life.#like the entire EXISTENCE of Damian is based on the idea that a blood son is ‘more real’—#AND THAT IS CANON ITSELF.#so…do you renounce all Batcanon? cut ties to it entirely? if not—why not?#oh…so it turns out that it’s only ‘terrible and bad and disrespectful’ and blah blah if it’s done—#—within a sphere wherein you believe yourself to have some amount of power!#you can’t ‘fiction = reality’ fandom while finding a million and one excuses for why ‘fiction != reality’ for motherfuckin CANON.#CANON—which has SO MUCH MORE reach and impact than goddamn…the niche hobby space that is fandom!#i will probably delete this because I try not to get this salty on main…#…unless it’s about Jim Starlin lol.#BUT THIS KINDA SHIT GETS MY BACK UP?#don’t pretend like having a squick is some moral stance with actual meaning besides ‘it ew to me.’

I know canonically Santa Prisca is supposed to be a stupid bundle of racist cliches about drug cartels and the political unrest of Latin America, but my personal interpretation has always been for it to be an unicorporated territory of the US, like Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. And rather than just being mexican alcatraz, make Peña Duros more of a direct Guantanamo Bay analog. That way it can be used as a critique of political loopholes of American territories, and the human trafficking problems in the American prison system.
The prison becomes a deposit in the ongoing American cup and ball game that is culpability for humanitarian crimes against the incarcerated; people get shuffled thru Pena Duros to keep abuses off official records of American prisons, and off "American soil." In this way Bane's upbringing can be accounted for as he sees a constant rotation of every kind of criminal come thru the prison and he can learn from them all in turn, mirroring Batman's apprenticeship, while also feeding him rumors from Gotham transfers about a certain crime fighting urban legend.
But a secondary business for an industrial prison is the buying and selling of prisoners; not only does Pena Duros become a very obvious auctionhouse for hitmen and slave labor, but by preying on the demands of privatized prisons in the US, sells its prisoners to fill cells in US prisons, artifically inflating prison populations to falsify government contract evaluations. And from this, gangs and governments use the ongoing prison trade to smuggle people and goods across the US boarder, both ways, with Pena Duros as the boarding station.
And in this way Pena Duros becomes the powerful multifaceted underworld enterprise that Bane is able to climb the ranks of and take over from the inside.
And then of course we can also toss in the patented supervillainy of weapons and tech smuggling and harboring fugitives and trading in political prisoners to rationalize why and how this prison complex was dabbling in super soldier serums (rather than just "mexicans sell drugs, wrassle man big, do steroids!") Pena Duros sold the human test subjects for venom, smuggled the chemicals in and the finish products out, harbored and traded scientists and whistle blowers, and in it all built their own working version of the drug... Just in time to test it on their own inmates, including one particular little boy born and raised inside the prison walls...
Bane himself I want to take more after Javert and Eugene Vidoq, as someone who turns his familiarty and mastery of criminal life into that of a enterprising jailer, so invested in having conquered and now weilding the power of a system that abused him and molded him into a monster that he can't ever let it be dismantled. (And on a perhaps more literal level, he literally can't let the prison not mass produce Venom, because no one else produces it, and he is so chemically dependent on it that he needs more of it than anything smaller than industrial scale production could supply him.)
But in any case, a proper Moriarty(Napoleonic empire of crime and all) to Batman's Holmes, as he was originally promised to be, yet not fully delivered on, not just on the personal mano a mano level, but organizationally: Bane's Pena Duros operation should be more than just another gang of faceless thugs, they should be highly and diversely specialized --recruited, trained, and when needed bought or pressganged to fill specific needs-- and comparable to the Batfam or Batman Inc.
And for that matter, he should also be giving Amander Waller's Task Force X a hell of a run for its money while he's at it. He and Waller should have a deeply familiar and bitter professional rivalry, yet both beholden a begrudging admiration.
Also as a tangent, I would rectify the egrigious mistake of calling his recently introduced protege "Vengeance" and not the infinitely more appropriate and obvious NEMESIS, as a distintly feminine synonym for "Bane."

Every time people bring up out of context panels to say 'see! Batman is anti cop!' I get SO annoyed like. I WISH Batman was anti cop but it's just not true, and willfull denial of reality won't get you anywhere. Batcanon and DC as a whole has massive copaganda issues. Do you all just ignore Good Cop Jim Gordon? Even at its most critical of the police system it points to corruption as the issue, rather than the system itself. Dick Grayson was a cop for years, like, come on guys.

talia <3
love her ♡
Sexuality Headcanon: 100% bi . canonically supported by that one joelle jones panel in batman #33, noncanonically supported by the fact i think she should be bi
Gender Headcanon: none.
A ship I have with said character: brutalia but like they’re divorced. TALIANA…(diana x talia)…like they crossed paths and have RIDICULOUS sexual tension…island women…good with swords…
A BROTP I have with said character: talia and selina. i know a lot of people think talia and selina should fuck but i think they should actually just be friends. less of a weird racist meta power dynamic that way
A NOTP I have with said character: talia and jason . nope no way 👎🏽 gross and weird and talia wouldn’t fucking DO that… disgusting
A random headcanon: she doesn’t believe in anyone’s agenda anymore. not her fathers not batman’s no one’s agenda. secretly she’s just sick of all the pointless fighting and dying and just wants to chill in a cabin by the beach with some good heavy books and some nice tea
General Opinion over said character: soooooo much potential . SO much potential what the fuck . and all of it lost to generic racism and lazy writing ! talia is probably one of their most complex female characters given the least amount of exploration or weight and instead used to rehash old shit again and again . she is one of three arab characters in their entire canon and she’s still disregarded despite being a nexus point for so much lore in the batcanon…very disappointing on behalf of dc actually. a year ago i was so viscerally angry about this i actually used it as the topic of an academic essay that would count towards my highschool graduation and i have so much more to say but tl:dr she’s always just a plot device twisted to suit the narrative, never a character given proper storylines or directions and it’s just disappointing .

I feel like with the amount of batcop/military stories being put out nowadays Constantine would probably not even want to associate with Batman 💀 am I weird to find bat x Constantine stuff just weird on a fundamental level
There’s so many problems with Bruce X John as a concept and it’s really illustrative of why Hellblazer doesn’t mesh well with main DC at all. Even if we’re calling a spade a spade and saying this version of John isn’t Hellblazer! John, I really do think his principles should still stand. You cannot remove class narratives from who John is, and this latest John x Bruce trend would have to erase that huge part of him for that to work.
I can’t comment much on pro-cop elements in current Batman; I’m not well versed in batcanon. I DO know that John doesn’t like wealth and he doesn’t like superheroes as an organized entity. He’d hate the Watchtower and he’d hate the Batcave.
It all boils down to people seeing John as what he’s currently marketed as, and not as a character with his own rich history.

Gotham season 1 is great also from a financial perspective. They’ve got a decent chunk of change invested in production staff/filming/IP and they’re not sure it’s going to take, because audiences have been dropping precipitously. Season 1 both tries to set up future plot lines and aims to end on the season 1 finale. Most major batvillains trot across the stage and wrap up their little story arcs. Most never return. Baby batcat have a little puppy crush, the Wayne case is wrapped up, Penguin gets his lounge and takes over the underworld, the season 1 ending perfectly sets up the status quo to flow into Batman.
Then it gets renewed for season 2 and they can pull the trigger on their planned ongoing plotlines, but the same surprisingly careful thought that went into making a season 1 that would hold up on its own AND as part of a longer story means that it feels like a whole foreshadow. Because it has to, every single part of the series comes full circle not just within the vague batcanon but within itself. Season 1 is set up to be the conclusion as season 5 is, and even season 3 (to an extent—more on that when we get there), and so they must therefore echo each other by both echoing the same externally imposed endpoint. Season 1 is the kids’ book version, the animated synopsis of the show.

Bat Family Adventures is my favorite part of Batman canon. It's canonized so many great headcanons of mine!
i mean. you do you, but its barely canon... and honestly its mostly fluffy filler? you cant tell me jason would aactually lose his shit at metal scraping the ground or bruce would join a scuffle over the last cookie. and as far as im concerned, the only definitive batcanon is rhato. but hey, if fillingless pie is your jam then go for it :)

Objectively Bruce knows his actions as the Bat are actually counter-intuitive and may not actually be helping Gotham in any meaningful, longterm sense. One thing that frequently throws people who figure out Bruce is The Bat is Bruce has openly discussed in interviews and in conversation why the Bat isn’t what Gotham needs.
But the Bat has never been Bruce at his most rational, it’s actually him at his most emotional. It’s him hearing a scream, a siren or reading about some new violent tragedy in the morning paper and knowing with all his skills and resources- He could do something right now. Not for the future but one person suffering in the moment.
That’s why he does it and also why he can’t stop.  Once you know you can change the outcomes of dangerous situations for the better after having once been as helpless as Bruce once was- could you ever really turn that instinct off?

Headcanon Prompts | Always Accepting
@virarosea What are Bruce's individual relationships with his kids like? How does he perceive each of them? How do they perceive him in return?
I’m glad you asked because I wanted to talk about this given how important his children are to him.
Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson- Richard is the first of Bruce’s adopted children and on one hand there’s a super strong bond because of that. They both went through similar traumas and helped each other grow as people. But as Bruce’s eldest I think unfortunately that also meant Bruce made a lot of mistakes. I think he was harder on him that he should have been when it came to his training and could be extremely hurtful with how cold he could come across at times. So that’s definitely strained their relationship when Richard got older (not even getting into the fact the two have very different wiring in general) but I do headcanon that Bruce addressed his mistakes after Jason died and held himself accountable to how he’s hurt him which helped their relationship a great deal moving forward.
And Bruce just is??? Super proud of Richard???? He’s so impressed with how outgoing he is and how easily he makes friends not to mention for making his own life for himself in Blüdhaven and what he’s accomplished there. Also while I do headcanon Bruce wanting ‘The Bat’ to die with him I think if he had to pass it off to one of his children Richard would be the one because he believes Richard is the only one who could survive and not be broken by that persona.
Jason Todd- While Bruce had learned a great deal with how to parent after Richard that doesn’t mean he was totally prepared for Jason. Richard was rambunctious but also fundamentally a very sweet kid whereas Jason had a lot of troubles that Bruce wasn’t necessarily equipped to handle. And he definitely let his worry about where Jason’s more troubling behavior might lead dictate how he handled him which isn’t great.
That said his loss was devastating for Bruce. So much so I don’t think he intended to adopt again or have another kid. And then to see what Jason became is absolutely heartbreaking especially given Jason’s attitude towards killing. That line is so important for Bruce and not crossing it really defines his morality and sense of self and I think he feels by crossing it Jason is diminishing himself. But even having crossed that line Bruce’s door and arms are always open for him. He also keeps almost obsessive tabs on him since he’s come back and panicked if he loses track of him if even for a few days because he cannot and will not lose him again.
Tim Drake- One of the things I find so interesting about Tim is that with Jason and Richard obviously Bruce’s taking them in comes from this very emotional place. Whereas Tim approached and appealed to Bruce from a more cerebral angle ‘you need a robin’ basically. So I think in some ways Bruce almost interacts with him more as an equal than he does with his two eldest children.
Tim also strikes me as the son who’s most like Bruce in terms of how his mind works so I think he’s also Bruce’s easiest at least for Bruce. He’s constantly impressed by how intelligent Tim is and has no worries about the type of person he may or may not turn out to be. Imao he really should tho.
Cassandra Cain- Okay so while Tim may be similar to Bruce in terms of wiring I think Cassandra is the child Bruce feels closest too. Because she gets what Bruce is about and what The Bat means symbolically and to Bruce personally. So I see Bruce as putting a lot of trust in her and confiding with her in a way he might not with his other kids.
Though that said he’s also extremely protective of her as his only daughter and given her background.
Damian Wang- Let’s start at the beginning, Bruce never expected or planned to have biological children if only because his relationships can be so messy. Talia is also one of the first loves of Bruce’s adult life (the way my headcanon is structured anyway) and I think even though he left her when he left the LoA he still carried a bit of a torch for her for a long time afterwards. But Damian’s very existence feels like a betrayal to Bruce. For one she didn’t tell him about their son until he was at least ten. And second she trained him to be an assassin which goes directly in the face of everything Bruce believes in from a moral standpoint.
Given all that I think Bruce has much stronger emotional reactions to Damian and his antics than are necessarily appropriate. Also not to mention his fear Damian will end up like Jason. So he has very little trust in Damian and keeps him on a much, much shorter leash than he did his other kids but also tries to encourage his love of animals to teach him empathy and to care for other living things.
Though fucked up upbringing aside Damian is still fundamentally a child so I don’t think he really understands why Bruce treats him the way he does especially when compared to Tim and Richard especially. Not to mention his values are radically different given how he was raised in the LoA which puts them at odds more often than not. Though that said I think Bruce will try and explain to Damian when he’s older what it means to not kill, why it’s so important to him and how it came to be important to him. Damian has so much potential and a very good heart underneath everything and Bruce will happily spend everyday of the rest of his life helping him realize that potential.

If you're still taking requests could u do the lounging around on a lazy day w the batboys hc thank u ilysm:)
I love you so much too and oh my GOD. This prompt has been waiting here forever. Like, literally forever. I am so sorry. Please forgive my overlooking this gem for so long.
I hope that it’s worth the wait…
Tag List: @nxttime, @possiblyelven, @thepuckishrogue, @jinkies-its-a-writer, @queeniepearls (If you want to be tagged, let me know! For more fics, check out my masterlist.)
Dick:
-Dick Grayson isn’t really one for being lazy all day long. He can do a lazy morning filled with cuddling or a lazy afternoon comprised of catching up on a few episodes of that series you’ve been trying to get him to watch for the last 6 months. He’s even happy to tuck in for an evening of cheesy movies and junk food too, on an occasional basis.
-Largely though, he’s got too much energy to just stay cooped up for the entirety of a day.
-This means that lazy time spent basking in Dick’s company is a rarity. When you both have the day off, he likes to go and do things! He plans dates and day trips. He looks up expos and events, conventions and kitschy get-togethers where he can finally meet all of your friends and show off his incredible people skills.
-There are a million places he’d love to show you, and a whole 24 hours of uninterrupted quality time should be used bonding over shared activities; not… inactivities.
-In his opinion.
-You disagree.
-When the Richard is sufficiently socialized and gallivanted, he makes for an excellent domestic partner. He can chill with the best of them, amiable to most endeavors of cuddling, television watching, or video gaming.
-Ultimately, your requests for lounging around the home take place either before or after his scheduled outings. Therefore, because you’re so willing to spend your time doing what he thinks will be fun, he’s 100% happy to return the favor and weigh in on any dramatic reality TV series or sappy romantic films.
-If it makes you happy and doesn’t make him jittery or cross, he’s down to give you your way.
Jason:
-Listen. I argue that Jason, in spite of being so bold and charismatic, is largely introverted. After a hard mission or a bad fight with family, all he wants is to come home and curl up in his bed with a good book and some quality solitude.
-When the opportunity to spend the day doing nothing but hanging out with you and a well worn pair or sweatpants presents itself, he jumps for it.
-Like.
-This is his favorite.
-After the first few trial runs, all the kinks get worked out and the two of you find a good rhythm of relaxed inactivity.
-You don’t even talk to one another all that much! You just get it. He just gets it. You throw on something mindless like an instrumental playlist or a series you’ve both seen a million times and read. Sometimes you watch something he’s seen before while he catches up on mild casework. Other times you nap on the couch with your head on his shoulder, and he wonders how he got so lucky and frets about not screwing things up.
-Whatever it is that the two of you end up doing on your quiet days together, Jason decompresses. He breaths, and sleeps, and eats all of the ways he’s supposed to. He holds you close, and he’s grateful for your patience and willingness to have such calm and unobtrusive expectations.
Tim:
-At first, you were pretty sure that Tim never went a single day without working.
-Like, to the tune of Taylor Swift, Never-Ever-Ever
-It was only after you’d discovered his alter ego and been initiated into more mild outskirts data mining operations of vigilantism that he actually allowed himself to be completely open about his schedule and confirm your suspicions about his utter lack of self-care.
-Boy howdy, did you ever-ever-ever put a stop to that.
-Your boyfriend is a logical man. It was simple enough to rope him into a verbal agreement about post-case recuperation that you then brandished against him as though it were a legally binding contract.
-After a big case gets cleared out, no matter what else is on the board, you text the team to let them know they’re on their own for tech support and snuggle in for a good day of nerdy self-indulgence that sets your heartstrings thrumming in time with the narrative fascinations you share along with Tim.
-Hours of Star Trek, Hannibal, Game of Thrones, or any other delectable series that happens to be buzzing at the time of your 24 hour vacation gets binged with content abandon.
-You snuggle on the couch, limbs flopped listlessly over one another under mountains of plush throw blankets and pillows that have been pillaged from your bedroom and commandeered for the betterment of the couch.
-Lazy days with Tim are full on. No cooking. No cleaning.
-Just binge-watching good shows, making dorky jokes, and loving up on your overworked boyfriend.
Damian:
-The concept of lazing about was also just… not really a thing here.
-Meditation? Yeah. Low activity reconnaissance? Sure thing. Enjoying a few moments of peace to gather oneself before or after engaging in taxing mental/social/emotional activities? Granted.
-Spending an entire day loafing around the house without even bothering to get dressed properly?
-Are you fucking serious?
-This boi straight up rejected your pleas for a low-key day of blissful nothingness until his femur was shattered. No joke. 100%.
-It took serious damage to his structural integrity to get your boyfriend to spend 5+ hours on the couch with you.
-It was then that Damian realized the true joy of being lazy with a partner. There’s no stress. No obligation. No pressure to perform or characterize his behavior beyond noncommittal commentary when so inspired or pressed. He could just be there, with you, collecting himself and enjoying his home and pets as he so chooses with little to no judgement.
-The deep relaxation and trust that he fostered for you during the time you spent caring for him during his recovery changed his opinion of allowing you to stay overnight without a measured schedule.
-Without meaning to, he sort of fell into preferring for you to be in his space, if not his direct proximity, during all of his time off.
-He’ll be in the study brushing up on a Slavic dialect that’s gotten rusty in the back of his mind, and you’ll be tucked into a fleece robe on the couch with Titus flipping through a magazine or watching a movie. And it’s nice.
-Sometimes he’ll be doing maintenance on his vast collection of weapons and antiques, and you’ll be right beside him watching with rapt attention, veritably simmering with questions about each and every unique piece. He is especially fond of these instances.
-When you and Damian share a quiet day together, he likes to cultivate something. Whether it’s in your knowledge of antiquities or his vocabulary of slang and pop-culture references, keeping you near while he gets some much needed relaxation always leaves him feeling more accomplished than lazy.
