Very simplistic and light-hearted (but also very honest) approach to the matter but Macbeth not being able to take a seat because of Banquo's ghost just appearing is one of the top moments EVER in literature for me, no matter how many times I read/watch Macbeth I will ALWAYS gasp bc of it. Maybe it's the fact that, for obvious reasons, the moment is put very plainly ("Enter the GHOST of BANQUO and sits in MACBETH's place"...if Macbeth were a novel, and I were the author, I'd put it just as plainly) , maybe it's the fact that the scene going on from there is absolutely striking and, on a certain degree, heart-wrenching, I don't know. But yes. Top moments from Macbeth for sure. One of my personal favourites by Will. I. Am Shakespeare.

most unhinged moments in act 1 of macbeth
lady macbeth using the MOST FUCKING UNHINGED METAPHOR (“if i made you a promise, even to KILL MY OWN BABY, i would do it even while breastfeeding because IM A GOOD PERSON WHO KEEPS HER WORD”)
macbeth telling lady macbeth that she’s so smart she should only have male children (“bear forth men-children only”)
the first witch saying “a sailor’s wife had chestnuts in her lap and munched and munched and munched. ‘give me,’ quoth i.” that’s ICONIC
banquo saying “you should be women, and yet your beards forbid me to interpret that you are so.”
banquo’s whole character. like what is he doing there?? he’s so silly
lady macbeth begging the spirits to take her period blood and clog up all her femininity so she can be cruel and kill people. also iconic
duncan being SO GULLIBLE he gets betrayed by not one but TWO people. duncan. come ON
banquo not-so-vaguely suggesting that he and macbeth got high and that’s why they saw witches
