Marvel character Gwendolyn “Gwen” Poole aka Gwenpool has been confirmed aromantic and asexual!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwenpool will come to terms with her sexuality in next week’s issue of Love Unlimited: Gwenpool, her current series which is made by an acespec creative team.
Acespec creators Jeremy Whitley @jeremywhitley, Bailie Rosenlund @bailiesartblog, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Alanna Smith @alannawrites and Kaitlyn Lindtvedt discuss Gwenpool’s asexuality and aromanticism in this new interview for Marvel.
It’s a really great interview, highly recommend reading it!
“Acespec people aren’t often shown in media and when they are, it’s often shown as a trope of being a broken thing that needs fixing. The more diversity and stories we can tell, the better.” -Kelly Fitzpatrick
Tumblr media
Love Unlimited: Gwenpool is available now from Marvel Unlimited. The concluding issue of this 6 part limited series will be out next week.
Tumblr media
Check out this reading list for Gwenpool if you’d like to read more of her comics!
Gwenpool is the second Marvel character to be confirmed asexual this year, although she will be the first to have her asexuality shown on-page.
Morgan Red was confirmed asexual back in March and his asexuality will be addressed in New Mutants Lethal Legion #5, out in July.

My favorite New X-Man returned this week.
12 years after his death in Necrosha, and 3 years after a cameo in Krakoa confirming his resurrection, we finally get Kevin Ford, aka Wither, in a speaking role on a Marvel comic.
Tumblr media
Love Unlimited Infinity Comic #43, by Jeremy Whitley & Bailie Rosenlund, is a love story starring Gwen Poole, the Marvel fangirl with 4th-wall-breaking powers.
Out of all the people in Krakoa, Gwen has chosen Kevin to be her romantic partner that keeps her relevant in the foreseeable future. Why?
Well, for starters, Gwen is a woman with taste in comics.
Tumblr media
And secondly, Gwen expects to replicate the success of the Romy relationship.
But, alas, Gwen finds out that Kevin hasn't been sitting idly in Krakoa.
Tumblr media
So now that they're just a vanilla white couple of twenty-somethings (when did Kevin get that old?) Gwen needs to find another source of drama.
Tumblr media
That's, right. Gwen is about to start a love triangle.
Honestly, I've a few mixed feelings on Wither's characterization. On the one hand, I'm glad someone remembered he existed and he's been given his day in the spotlight. On the other, he's a little too "manga romance protagonist" for my taste, instead of the mopey goth we know and love.
But what did you think, fellow Academy X-ers?
