Audio Drama Sunday - 28th April ✨
Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I started two new shows this week and fell in love with both of them!!
👻 @tellnotalespod (S2E8.5) ohhhhhh I’m so emotional. The end of this series is going to make me cry so many happy tears, I can just feel it.
🌲 @hellofromthehallowoods (149) With the description this week, I think I truly realised just how scary-looking the pig man is 😰 Things are looking decidedly down for Shelby and Clem. Eek. God, Valerie!!! She’s such an interesting character because you can literally connect the dots of her trauma but still be slightly disappointed by the consequences on her behaviour! And the poor Mr Greenstreets ☹️ Raj is very Syrensyr coded?? Vincent as a grief counsellor makes me wonder… about who or what Voltaire is….
Also, I want the Auditor to be Polly so bad and I want Nikignik to get out of the interrogation by bargaining to reunite him with Yaretzi and Mort - PLEASE.
🧳 Travelling Light by @monstrousproductions (19) I loved seeing our Traveller stand up for themself!! It’s always so fun to see characters who are usually soft gain a backbone of steel because their core values are tested. And the discussion of the nanobots was so interesting!! The laws on nanobots elsewhere when they are literally required for survival makes the entire person illegal. And we all know that’s not right!!!
👁️ @malevolentcast (41) I’m thinking that maybe Rafters was an exception that proves the rule… Alexander the owl was creepy as anything and I hated the way he seemed to be guiding them towards the crack in the wall. Now we’re in a possible parallel universe, it feels like all bets are off and I’m scared to even consider what might happen to John and Arthur now!
⚔️ @camlannpod (8) OUGH. Oh my god. Can’t they just have FIVE MINUTES to RELAX?? I actually snorted out loud at: ‘you’re good with an axe, right’. Pere is a little shit and I love that for them. Morgan!!! 🫨 And Dai!!! I’m so hopeful that starting down this path will lead to good (or, at least, a whole load of shenanigans for S2!)
🖥️ The Magnus Protocol (13) It’s very interesting to me that we were able to listen in on Sam and Cecilia’s date… how did that work? There’s something here about gambling and chance with this story and the previous one about the dice rolling?? I’m connecting the dots (I’m not connecting shit).
🌞 Small Victories by @wgc-productions is so good, I wish I’d started listening years ago. I love the 90s sitcom vibe and the intro/outro are so unique. I absolutely love shows that centre around character studies. Marisol’s story is so gripping and I love how the writing takes us right inside her brain as she justifies every decision (good or bad). It’s so clear how loveable she is and how much people around her want her to be okay (mostly), but don’t know *how* to get her to that place given the shit they’re dealing with themselves! I got up to 1.09 so . . . bit of a cliffhanger there!! I’m very excited to see how the story progresses. I’m rooting for you, Tiny!!
🧋 I started @hinaypod and it’s safe to say that I’m in love already! Listening has given me the same amazing feeling of listening to Desperado - the sensation that the creators have opened up a door to a brand new world and I’m so happy to be in it! I adore Mari. Even from episode one, she has this quiet self-confidence in herself and her skills which is so refreshing. I also really like the horror writing here and I’m really looking forward to delving deeper into this story!
Hope everyone has a good week! 💙

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I've had a nice bit of time for listening this week so have been catching up on some favourites and new-to-mes!
First up, I finally caught up on @thesiltverses after dropping off for a couple of weeks and oh God this show simply continues to do it like nobody else. And I'm not just saying that because I'm in this week's ep (though I am, and doing rather marvellously if I say so myself. Nobody ever found so many different ways to say, "High Prophet!" 😉😂)
I also blasted through @redvalleypod, which I can't believe I didn't get round to before. Made me laugh out loud, often several times per episode, with brilliant moments of depth and darkness. Also got jumpscared by my cousin showing up at one point playing a side character 😅
Still working my way through @theheartpyre, which remains enormously good fun. If you like the CYOA elements of Travelling Light, THP are doing it on hard mode with a vote every episode 🤩 The characters are fab and I love how the world is unfolding as I listen!
As I mentioned in the intro this week's ep, I've also been working through Chaika's back catalogue, from @y2kpod. It's such a gorgeous show! 😍 Also, if you read our annotated scripts you know I'm a sucker for etymology, and the language stuff in Chaika is 😘👌
Finally, I've also been dabbling in some non-fiction podding with ADWIT (The Audio Drama Writers' Independent Toolkit), which shares tips and insights on writing for audio fiction! Only just started listening but already having a great time 💕 Don't think they're on Tumblr but please tag them if I'm mistaken!
How about you lot - what's been catching your ears this week? Any recs? Let me know!

Good morning,
it's #audiodramasunday!
Tumblr media
This week I relistened to the Moon Crown because it definitely feels like one where you relisten and pick up things you didn't the first time round. This was indeed the case. Also the sound design is a series of creepy binaural jumpscares.
Caught up on Hallowoods. Nikignik's crack about Lady Ethel's dress sense made me cackle.
Caught up on Monstrous Agonies as well. The early 90s episode are great for listeners calling in who make you make an uncomfortable face getting gently binned by the host. It really has been a week for sass.
The neurodivergence committee in my brain finally approved Desert Skies and they were correct to do so. This show deserves it's praise - the comic timing is pristine, the plots balance warm and funny with sorrowful and moving, the world building doesn't feel overwhelming and the powerful electro-trance soundtrack fits the otherwordly-but-worldly vibe perfectly. It took me a while to notice this is another solo-showrunner doing voices, which is a mark of mad skillz. I love Mac but then I think I'm supposed to.
…. * small sad voice * and Shrimp and Crits is nearly finished and I'm not even over Ari yet.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday!
This week has mostly been filled with @ameliapodcast to me. I've listened through a lot of season 5 now and I absolutely love it. Amelia caters to me and I'm really enjoying it. It's difficult to talk about it in detail without spoiling it all, but the season 4 finale really caught me off-guard in a good way. They're also clearly having fun with the VA cameos and all these different time periods. 10/10.

Audio Drama Sunday IV
Alright! Back again! Skipped last week as I went on a binge of Non-fiction history podcasts as is my occasional habit. This week however I resumed my audio fiction engagements with a fervor.
Edge of my seat week to week listens wise this was another win for @innbetween where I have to be a bit sneaky about spoilers since most y'all won't have access yet. This one gave me some chills as Max's character brought to mind some bosses I worked for in the past whom I am glad I am not working for now. Whereas previous adventuring parties were faster to making solid friendships of fate and circumstance this bunch remains first and foremost co-worker relationships which has opened the door wonderfully to working with themes of different types of ableism. I come from a decently cut throat industry myself and that whole "What good are you if you can't..." is a huge thing we need to talk more about as a society. Having party members we feel a little more gray about is a neat shift of dynamic too which I wholeheartedly approve of which has left me hoping either the arc carries everyone to a better wiser place ... or delivers some much needed kicks to the gems for bad behavior by way of catharsis.
My binge listen continues to be Spirit Box Radio where I have hit season 3 at last! The Host/ Creator/ Voice Actor of the show seems to be going through a testosterone based transition which I got to admit I am enjoying vicariously more than I probably should. My circumstances have taken a T transition off the table for me personally so when I encounter someone going through one I get fairly excited myself noting the changes. How deep Sam's voice will be by the end of the series is like an added bit of delightful mystery. On it's more narrative based merits however Spirit Box Radio continues to delight. There's an evolving ruminative quality to the story with leaps and bounds of development just when the slow drip of progress in the mystery starts to stretch the tension to the breaking point. Big changes in the status quo that then must be weighed and understood and considered starting the cycle anew. Pacing wise it's the cautious and moderate person's approach to danger which feels fairly true to life. It's something that works best in podcast format which makes it feel more fresh than the more common arc of act/react. Things must be digested in their own time and lately particularly I have been finding that slower pace is a welcome change from instant gratification.
Editing log of the week is fairy empty as I have finished the second draft of the season Finale and am taking a breather before doing the finalizing process. After this I get a nice two month vacay from all things audio to sharpen up my resolve for the next season and start making our backlog for the airing of season 2. I'm so close to relaxing I can feel it!

It’s Audio Drama Sunday! Here’s some shows we recommend this week!
First up, we’ve got @station151podcast, an arctic horror that gripped us from the first episode! If you love The Thing and are a fellow science nerd, you’ll LOVE this too — we’re already on episode 5!
Next, we’ve got to give a huge compliment to @desertskiespodcast for their incredibly comforting and humorous storytelling. By far one of our new favorites that gives us the same vibes as Adventure Time and WTNV — and all voiced by one person??? INSANE!
We shouted them out for last ADraid, but we haven’t stopped thinking about @vestaclinicpod comforting and meaningful first story. If you’re looking for some amazing scientific alien worldbuilding, a soothing voice, and an actually interesting anthology, give them a try!
We’ve also been highkey obsessed with @malevolentcast , and are already on episode 15. The sound design of this is just masterful, and one of the FIRST ADs to actually give me a true scare, WITHOUT it being a jumpscare! Cannot recommend enough for horror fans everywhere!
Aaaand if you find yourself wanting to support some other indie ADs out there, like Syntax! Find our IGG campaign here! We’re nearly wrapped up with it and still wanting to push for our campaign! Please check it out if you’re able!

Happy Audio Drama Sunday and a happy new year!!
I haven't done one of these in a while cause I was so busy but I don't want to keep pushing it to next week so I'll do a little recap now to the best of my abilities while in the car.
First of, big congrats to @eelerschoice for a great finale!! I really enjoyed the entire season! I honestly love maritime fantasy so much. I'm really excited for next season!
I've also listened to most of The Book Of Constellations over the last week and it's so good! I think it's a story with such genuinely important themes and it makes me think a lot while listening to it. Also love W. Keith Tims' voice a whole lot. A great voice for narration and all the characters feel really unique even if they're all portrayed by the same person.
Then I started @monstrousproductions 's Travelling Light which I also adore. It feels like a cozy travelling show but in space, which is truly lovely. And the narration style kind of reminds me of 19th century epistolarian novels. Idk if that makes sense to anyone else lmao. But I can't wait for the rest of the season!
And lastly I've been keeping up with The Love Talker and this truly one of the most terrifying folk horror stories I've heard. One where even though you know the monster is a supernatural being it just feels so anchored in reality. Also, it has one of my new favourite female characters in it 👀
Well, that was it from me. Hope everyone has a great start into the new year and I'm excited to discover even more great shows next year!!

Audio Drama Sunday - 14th Jan ✨
Oh, friends, I have had a shit week but these listens have definitely gone some way to making it bearable. Happy Audio Drama Sunday 🎧
👻 @tellnotalespod oh how I love you and how I have missed you!! It seems that some time has passed since the end of S1 and Leo has OBVIOUSLY made absolutely stellar choices in the meantime. Nothing is better for one’s mental health than isolation and trusting the slimiest creature on god’s green earth.
🦀 @thesiltverses (37) my beloved Silt Verses have returned with a frankly exceptional HOUR long episode filled with so many things to scream about that I don’t even know where to start. Val’s revelation that extreme power can also be used to bring people joy is VERY interesting indeed. They were never going to be able to control her, but I doubt it even more now. And PAIGE stepping up!! Part of me really wants a Val vs Paige stand off but most of me wants to protect Paige at all costs… I am loving the music choices this episode and the scene with the telephone calls was so good! Also, PLEASE stop foreshadowing Carpenter’s death, I am going ‘lalalalalala I can’t hear you!!’
🧳 I listened to episode 8 of Travelling Light by @monstrousproductions after a night shift and the hazy tiredness only served to make it even more transcendentally beautiful. I adore the blossoming friendships aboard the Tola, especially between the Traveller and Óli 😭🌌
👁️ @malevolentcast (39) I love it when you can *feel* that an episode is gearing up to a season finale, a few little loose strands tied up here and there but one BIG problem looming for the finale. I NEED to remember to not listen to this show when I’m emotionally compromised in any way because I found myself bloody sobbing as Marie was talking about her son. I should know that Malevolent is going to play dirty with my emotions.
🏛 @the-mistholme-museum ENDLESS okay I don’t want to ruin this for anyone who hasn’t listened yet but !!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let’s go!!!!!!!!!!!
🐬 @patterspod P Files brought creative levity into our lives with the tale of Professor Fantabulum. I’m honestly a huge fan of the idea of creative genius as a torch passed on to the people who you inspire
🌨️ @thewhitevault (5) Oh I just don’t trust this guy at all. . . everything he says is so perfectly plausible that there’s just obviously something wrong with him. My friend pointed out that the family meeting mentioned surveyors . . . . .  Now S has been killed by something . . . . I just adore the way The White Vault slowly ramps up the cosmic kind of horror but you’re so distracted by all the other scary human shit going on that your brain is primed and ready to be terrified by the obviously fictional stuff by the time it happens. It’s such clever writing!!
❤️‍🔥 The Love Talker (6) Ah, now, Ren…. Just because you *can* do something, doesn’t meant necessarily mean that you should… you feel me? Some of the anatomical descriptions in this episode made me want to vomit a little. It’s so awful, I need to know what happens next!!
🏢 @somewhereohio (S2E5) I’m absolutely living for these scenes with Green and Sterling. Are they squishing my heart into pieces? Yes. Do I feel sick to my stomach thinking about the impossibility of trying to perfect and control the one you love? Yes. Can I have more, please?
🍾 I finished season 1 of @ameliapodcast and what an absolute DELIGHT that ending was!! What an absolutely masterful raising of the stakes at just the right moment in time to keep the listener absolutely hooked. I hope Tara and Lily come back one day, they were so much fun and I think will be even more fun as free agents!
🌫️ @souloperatorpod dropped this week and the first episode is very intriguing indeed! I think I need to relisten without any distractions if I want to stand a chance of collecting all the threads of red string I’m going to need for this show! I really love the theme music and am very excited for more!
♦️ The Grotto continues to be an absolutely WILD delight. I caved and listened to two episodes this week but it’s okay because I still have ep 4 in my back pocket. I love the music, the sound design, the fact that it is literally impossible to work out what the hell is going to happen next. Go listen to The Grotto!!
Thanks to everyone making art - it makes things better 💓 I’m so excited for @camlannpod next week!!

I am not a religious person, but sometimes you get a weird and interesting podcast in that vein. So... Let's talk about The Gospel of the Flood from Jonas Kyratzes and @astronautdown . The Gospel of the Flood is an philosophical, apocalypse, religiously-framed fiction podcast that seems to be set inspecifically in the modern day. On the day the continents started to sink into the ocean, our main character, a priest, loses his faith. It just evaporates from him. Gone. And so, he travels to visit his brothers in faith. He wants to see how they're fairing, do they still have their faith? What are they doing now that the ocean is rapidly rising? Now that the world is literally and metaphorically sinking. Can he do something/ anything in the face of global death? Can he/should he reclaim his faith? The show is introspective, gentle, and philosophical. As an atheist who was brought up Christian, believe me when I say, I'm not looking for "God" based content. But this is an interesting one. What does a miracle mean when someone survives a large scale event above all those other people? Can something be a miracle for one, when hundreds, thousands, millions die. Surely God can't have only looked at one person. It's desturbing when you zoom out and think about it for too long. What does a prophet look like? What would you do in the face of global annulation? 7, 15 minute episodes of moral philosophy that will either confirm your faith, or your atheism, depending on how you look at it. *Shrug* So, if you like thoughtful philosophy, maybe like if Almehem had a baby with The Tower? Or maybe with Still Lives? Then, The Gospel of the Flood is for you! #drama #dramapodcast #postapocalyptic #specfic #speculativefiction #fictionpodcasts #podcastsunday #trypod #podcasts #podcast #podcastrecommendation #podcastrecommendations #recommended #podcastsunday #audiodramasunday #gospeloftheflood #moralphilosophy #religion #christianity #christianityasaframingnarrative #jonaskyratzes #chrischristodoulou https://www.instagram.com/p/CpzEcInOjBG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A dreary Audiodrama Sunday
Been a while since I audiodrama Sunday'd on account of work has been * gestures expansively *, so there is a backlog.
@ameliapodcast 12 days of Christmas was wonderfully chaotic fun. I particularly enjoyed Sarah Golding doing All The Regional Accents.
New @tellnotalespod! Leo is lead scientist now? Well I'm sure that can't possibly go wrong.
@camlannpod: Oooh it's so lovely. Such characters. And the music. Straight out of the gate making me cry with Tân yn Llŷn and then piling Peis Dinogat on top of that. * sad thumbs up cat.gif *
@thesiltverses: Wow what a cast in Episode 38 (<3 U B. obviously). Aud Andrews and Steve Shell, especially Steve Shell, just getting the pathos of that script across perfectly. Portraying dementia is hard and complicated and my respect to anyone who can do it.
Have a week everyone...

Happy #AudioDramaSunday! Joining our cast as the new voice of Chief Archaeologist Wei Han is Angel Lin, a veteran voice actor, musician and anything synonymous to the word “geek”.
They’ve also performed Off-Broadway, in National Broadway tours, and their love of games and movies totally fit the vibe of the rest of the Marsfall cast and crew! Keep your ears sharp as you’ve probably heard Angel in many other places before.
