There is an unofficial 'hotline' (psychic projection) for Akedeimos students on Krakoa that they use if theyre ever in trouble called "Mom/Dad Pick Me Up", which instantly summons any of the New Mutants to their location. Usually Rahne or Atti turn up, since they get the least mad, but Dani and Xi'an turn up as well.

story synopsis; “the horseman who rides atop his alabaster steed, cloaked in crimson without a head.”

in the sleepy town of Moorwick, you are drawn into the legend of the horseman when you learn it is associated with your father’s disappearance twenty years ago. when the local ghost story turns to be anything but that, and a bargain goes awry, you delve into moorwick’s dark history with hopes of saving more than just yourself.

story warnings; graphic descriptions of gore & violence, stalking, manipulation, murder, brief mention of child murder, mc gets injured quite often, brief mentions of suicide, frightening & grotesque imagery, horror, manhandling bc the horseman is a tank, elements of mystery, very detail + prose heavy, implied parental negligence, mental illness is discussed at length in certain chapters. originally posted 11/2019.

chapter synopsis & links

chapter one; you travel to the sleepy town of moorwick in search of your missing father. with little more than some luggage and your car, you're immediately steeped in the mysterious ways of the residents and of their local boogeyman— the headless horseman.

chapter two; you spend a better portion of your day in the archives of the moorwick public library researching the phenomena surrounding the town. by nightfall, you wander into the haunted forest to confront these myths yourself

chapter three; with the town of moorwick abuzz for the parade, you make every effort to escape your pact with the horseman, only to be thwarted by suspicious circumstances. when you’re lured back to the atticus, your next encounter with the horseman is anything but pleasant

chapter four; some time has passed and you continue to return to the atticus, no closer to solving the mystery of the horseman’s head. after an encounter with the dead, along with something far worse, you were beginning to understand the horseman’s existence wasn’t so straightforward.

chapter five; you could no longer refute that your relationship with the horseman was more complex than you initially thought it to be. what did it mean? Just as you’re coming to terms with this, colson offers a gift that could change everything. and moorwick’s more prestigious residents let you know that there are eyes always watching.

chapter six; you are determined to get answers from the horseman regarding the whereabouts of your father. It goes horribly awry. to make matters worse, new information comes your way about the peculiarities of moorwick, making the search for the horseman’s head far more complex and there are some people determined to keep it that way.

chapter seven; following that bloody night in the forest with the horseman, you couldn’t bring yourself to go back. It’s only after a startling revelation from asta lang that you find the courage to return; albeit you find that the horseman isn’t your only encounter.

chapter eight; the mystery deepens as you confront the one person who may know more about colson’s intentions than anyone else: theodore sinclair. As the nature of your relationship to the horseman evolves, you’re left wondering what it all means.

THE CREW'S BATTLE CRY.

The Storm Bringer is the name of a pirate ship that Hannah Hook and her crew own.

It served as headquarters for the pirate crew and can be seen throughout the series 'The Marvelous Misadventures of Hannah Hook and Co.'

Description:

The Storm Bringer is an old pirate ship that Hannah Hook won and fixed up for her crew. Repurposing it as a safe house/boat/home for her crew and replacing the sails with three homemade sails that have a matching flag up on the crowsnest, a single red flag, and two additional crimson red flags.

Its walls are covered in artwork that she and her crew made as well as random treasures they have picked up over the years.

The wood is mainly brown with hints of red in some places and it has many rooms that the crew share (some of these ‘rooms’ are just areas with curtains hanging up to separate them.

It is one of the few ships on the isle that is almost fully intact and the shape its in has been described as ‘remarkable’ by the few older pirates that have stepped abroad since the ship came into Hannah Hook’s possession.

History:

Hannah Hook acquired the Storm Bringer from it's pervious owner, Blackbeard, in a poker game that she bested him at when she was 6.

In that game, she not only gained a ship but two new enemies (Blackbeard and his son, Barnaby) and the respect of the elder pirates on the isle.

Her first three crew members were Luke Tremaine-Westergaard and Skia Aoratos (her 1st and 2nd mate respectively) and River Le Beak (who decided to just be a crewmate) who helped her build her crew and repair the ship.

They ended up renaming the ship 'The Storm Bringer' and replacing it's old sails with ones they made themselves before tossing the ones in the storage closet.

And over the years, Hannah and her crew ended up redecorating the ship to make it feel more like home. Using art pieces they each made, rewards they'd received, and random treasures they had found to do so.

They even added on to the ship, making more rooms and making it look more intimidating and wild in the process.

“I wasn’t going to ever tell you this,” Ravyn sighed. She stood next to Cal as he faced down a whimpering, bleeding Megaera on the supply closet floor. Her cousin had already sent along the two likely locations to Max Sinclair, who would check security footage of both buildings to see where Alice was being held.

“What, Ravyn?” Excalibur asked, the grin that came from torturing his estranged sister sliding off his chiseled face.

“Everyone else knows, but then you said that I deserved to end up like my mom, so I decided you needed to know, too,” Ravyn continued, grinning too peppily for someone who just watched her cousin cut up his younger sister’s face. To be fair, Meg had it coming for encouraging Lev’s brutal, inhumane plans. He was going to torture Alice, r*pe her, and slowly stab her until she bled out. It wasn’t pleasant, and with Lev’s assassin education, he knew how to drag out killing her for potentially days. Luckily for Alice, Cal wasn’t afraid of a little brutality himself, and so Alice wouldn’t have to suffer for more than an hour or so more.

“Yes?” Cal sighed, wiping his knives off on the handkerchief from his tuxedo pocket. Like his tuxedo, the small cloth was now more blood than anything else.

“Torin hates sushi. He just didn’t want to ruin your excitement when you asked him out. Same for your first and second anniversaries.”

Cal’s favorite food was sushi, and while he was typically well-mannered and deferred to what everyone else wanted, his two exceptions were sushi (he assumed everyone loved it) and chocolate pudding (he loved it more than he loved Ravyn, probably). Plus, Ravyn knew Cal liked the sentimental sushi dates that had ended in food poisoning after the first time (Torin was excellent at hiding it) (she didn’t understand how, but hey, who was she to judge?).

This time, Excalibur growled, and before he’d sheathed his last knife, he spun out of the room and stalked towards the infirmary where they group had taken up residence. Hopefully Atticus hadn’t killed Jamie Boy, but Ravyn trusted Torin to keep her husband in check when she wasn’t there. Ace was still intimidated by the scary assassin, even though he would never be a threat so long as Ace behaved. Except he wasn’t the one who needed to worry about behaving. That was totally Ravyn.

Ravyn followed Cal in silence, chuckling to herself here and there as she imagined Cal’s inevitable outburst. In the last few months, he’d really come out of his repressed shell. Even in the last few years, Cal had gotten much better at showing his emotions around his loved ones. Anyone outside of their little family? No chance of seeing him open up, but now Cal sometimes raised his voice when he was angry at James but not furious. It was hilarious.

Cal threw the door open and raced towards his husband.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me you hate sushi?” he hissed. Ravyn took a seat on the bed where Cal had administered the stitches in her arm, using her good arm to reach for Ace. She wanted him, and she knew he needed her.

Atticus scowled at Cal, clearly not pleased with the timing, but judging by James’ continuing phone call, there was nothing they could do yet, anyways.

Torin’s eyes widened before narrowing at Ravyn as she sat behind Cal’s tall and fit frame.

“You said you wouldn’t tell him.”

“I didn’t tell him about the food poisoning. I never promised to not tell about your hatred of sushi.”

Cal spun around at the mention of food poisoning. Ravyn pantomimed zipping her lips, so he turned back to Torin.

“Our date gave you food poisoning? Why didn’t you tell me? Torin, you need to take care of yourself!” Cal’s voice was heated, and Ravyn could sense that if Alice wasn’t in mortal peril, this would end in make up sex for her cousin and best friend. Ravyn didn’t like thinking of that, but she liked thinking of a bleeding Alice even less.

Torin scowled up a storm. “Because you obviously love it so much, and I didn’t want to discourage you or make you feel bad after you worked so hard to ask me out.”

Cal growled, but before the noise had finished leaving his mouth, his lips were on Torin’s. Ravyn had never seen Cal get distracted like this before, but she also knew he’d had another glass of whiskey in between bandaging up her stitches and going to torture Meg.

“I’ve got her!” James interrupted, verbally yanking the two husbands apart. Before anyone could speak up, he rattled off the address and sped from the room.

It was time to get their leading lady back.
