Hihi saw your post about wanting request so thought I'd send one!!!
How about a drabbles of Finral, Zora, Klaus, and Nozel would react to someone flirting with them in front of their s/o /someone putting their s/o down to make themselves look better??
Lots of love and hope ya get more request! ʕ•̀ω•́ʔ✧
Tumblr media
Parings & Word counts: Finral x Reader 957 words, Zora x Reader 882 words, Klaus x Reader 985 words, Nozel x Reader 690 words
Warning: Bullying, mentions of alcohol, if I missed anything please let me know
A/n: Hello, thank you so much for requesting. I enjoyed writing this especially because there is not enough love for the Black Clover men out there. I went with a gender neutral reader as you didn’t specify so I hope that’s fine. I also kind of split the prompts, Finral and Kalus are reacting to someone putting down their s/o and Zora and Nozel are someone flirting with them in front of their s/o. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and remember to hydrate or diedrate.
Finral:
Finral may have a history of being a playboy but that all changed. After you agreed to go out with him, he flipped his script real fast. The only person he had eyes for was you, going as far as telling Langris he was no longer interested in Lady Finesse and wishes them both well. Having you as a partner was like a dream come true for him, you didn’t care that he was the disgraced son of the Vaude family, or that his magic was only good for support. You just wanted him to be happy and You helped him feel more confident in himself and his abilities.
For the first time in his life finral actually felt secure in a relationship and would do everything in his power to keep the relationship healthy. So, imagine his shock when he notices you shying away from his affection while out on a date. Normally he could hold your hand, kiss your cheeks or hold you to his side as you walk through the markets of Kikka, but for some reason you pulled away every time he tried to show affection.
“Hey, Y/n is everything okay? You normally don’t mind holding hands and stuff.” He asked quietly, sounding almost scared that he did something wrong or misunderstood what you were comfortable with.
Before you could respond another voice Finral did not recognize, started to speak. “Well if it isn’t Y/n, when you said you were joining the Magic Knights I thought you'd at least try but I guess the Black Bulls are probably the only squad willing to take a weakass mage like yourself.” Turning his attention to the person who so rudely interrupted his date, the spacial mage could quickly tell this was some pompous noble. What he couldn’t tell though was how they knew you and why they were being rude.
“Excuse me, who are you?” Finral asked, his tone showing he was not pleased at all with how this person was acting.
Scoff in offense the noble spoke again. “Don’t take that tone with me. I’ll have you know, I’m Claire Elric, you know the family of mages who specialize in Alchemy magic.” The snob, Claire identified herself. “And I was talking with an old friend. I suggest you mind your own business but then again judging from your robe you’re also a Black Bull so you probably don’t understand respect.” Claire stated matter of factly.
Rolling his eyes, Finral spoke again. “It was a rhetorical question, you could be the king’s kid for all I care, it doesn't give you the right to talk down to people for no reason.” He started not having the patience for assholes. “Y/n is a powerful mage, and works hard everyday to help our squad get better. Not only that but they are extremely kind and caring, so I suggest you treat them with respect.”
Having been silently watching from behind Finral since Claire first spoke, you couldn’t hide the shock on your face. Finral was never the confrontational type, but here he is defending you from one of your life long bullies. Being behind him though you could also tell from the look on her face that Claire was ready to snap, and it would probably be best to leave before stuff goes south. “Finral, we should just go. It’s not a big deal, she’s right anyway the Bulls are the only squad that would take a mage like me.” You said gently pulling at his sleeve trying to get him to drop it and go.
Sadly your pleas were left unanswered as Finral was not going to stand for someone convincing his lovely partner they were less than perfect. “No Y/n, we aren’t leaving just yet. Not until this ass realizes that it’s not a bad thing you are part of the Black Bulls.” He said looking over at you before turning back to the now scowling noble. “Like I said before Y/n is a valuable member of our Squad and any other Squad would be lucky to have them. But Judging from your lack of any squad robe, you weren’t even good enough for any, so instead of spending your time looking down on others who have done more than you, maybe you should try being a better person.”
Claire’s scowl went from mildly upset to pissed real fast. Before she could even think to respond Finral quickly used his magic to open a small portal at the noble’s feet and watched as she fell through it. You looked at him shocked before speaking. “One, thank you for standing up for me. Claire has been a bully since we were young. And two, where the hell did you send her?” You were grateful she was gone but you hoped it wasn’t going to lead to problems for you later.
“Oh I just sent her to the farthest place I could without using too much mana. Don’t worry she’ll be fine though it may take her a while to get back, I hear Hage is a few days walk from castle town.” He said with a smirk. “And I’ll alway defend you, no one should talk down to you for any reason. I mean it, you are an amazing and valuable member of the Black Bulls. I know I for one would be lost without you.” With that Finral pulled you into his side, placing a kiss on your forehead before continuing throughout the market. You would probably get a complaint later about Finral stranding a noble in the forsaken realm, in a few days but hey that’s nothing new for the Black Bulls, plus Yami will probably find it funny.
Zora:
Finding time for the two of you to go and enjoy yourselves while being part of the Black Bulls is a hassle. Hell even days off aren’t off limits from chaos as Asta proved when he went to Nean and had a run in with The Eye of the Midnight Sun. So the moment Captain Yami even started to say it was time for everyone to have a day off, you and Zora were out of the hideout and without a second thought.
You guys made your way to a village where hopefully none of the crazier members of the squad would end up and made sure you weren’t followed. Peace and quiet in the misfit squad were hard to come by so you weren’t risking it. Making your way to the local pub, you and Zora sat at a small table only big enough for two and as far from the crowd that had gathered. Planning to enjoy a nice lunch before walking the town and just being together.
Unfortunately maybe the pub was not the best idea for a lunch date. You guys had agreed on it because it would be cheaper than one of the cafes or restaurants around the village. What you hadn’t factored in was the numerous drunkards who either just started their day of drinking or were still there after their night of drinking. In all honesty it took longer than one would expect for one of these drunks to cause a problem but hey it still happened.
You had been mid-sentence about how you hid Magna’s flan the other day and blamed Luck, just to cause some trouble, when some drunk lady stumbled over to your table. “Ex-cuse me, but could I of-ffer you a drink?” The lady said eye one Zora’s shirtless torso, completely ignoring you and the fact Zora could not look less interested in her.
“No. Anyway, Y/n next time we should go a step further instead of just hiding Magna’s food we should -” Zora started plotting how to mess with the resident idiots after turning down the drunk. Only to get halfway through his thought before Drunky spoke again.
“Come o-on handsome, I’m ssure I can give you a great time.” She slurred as she tried to get his attention. Zora just rolled his eyes and tried to ignore her. “Don’t be like thaat, I just want to ssee whatss behind that mask.” The Drunk was clearly to far down the drain to realize she had zero chance.
Being totally done with the lady you decided to take it on yourself to get her to leave. “Hey drunky, he’s not interested. Also we are kinda in the middle of a date and I would appreciate it if you left my boyfriend alone.” You said, making it clear you did not want to deal with her while still being somewhat polite. The lady just scoffed at you before turning back to Zora.
“I know I can give you bett-tter time then this buzz kill.” She said now leaning on the table. You were trying to hide your frustration, when the drunk did something that made the normally calm mage across from you let out his own frustration. While trying to seduce him by running her fingers along his jaw, the lady had the nerve to try and pull his mask from his face.
Standing probably faster than you’ve seen him move in while, Zora completely loses his cool. “Do not touch me and definitely do not touch my mask. We tried to be polite but you leave me no choice. No one would want anything to do with a hopeless drunk who has nothing better to do than interrupt a couple on the first date they’ve had in months, and then touch one of them without permission after being told twice to leave.” The whole time he spoke he had the lady’s wrist in his hand, not a tight enough grasp to break it or leave lasting damage but it was clear from his white knuckles there would likely be a bruise.
Deciding it’s probably best for Zora to not catch an assault charge for possibly injuring a civilian on day off, you step in. Resting a hand on his shoulder you spoke up. “Hey, let's just go back to the hideout. I know we wanted peace and quiet but that clearly isn’t gonna happen here.” Zora thought for a second before dropping the lady’s wrist and wrapped his arm over your shoulders leading you out of the pub ignoring the eyes of the few patrons who weren’t unconscious.
“Sorry our date got ruined by that lady.” You apologized hoping to ease some of the tension clear on Zora’s face.
He just shook his head. “Not your fault. I think we should just accept the madness we deal with. I mean where’s the fun in life if someone isn’t being crazy.” Zora made a valid point.
Chuckling as you made your way back to the Black Bulls’ base. “You’re right, if we wanted quite we probably shouldn’t have joined the Black Bulls of all squads.” You laughed as you reached the hideout and were greeted with the tell tale yelling from Magna and Luck fighting over who knows what this time.
Klaus:
Being at the Golden Dawn’s base was intimidating to begin with, now add not being a member of the top squad and it feels like even breathing wrong could get you yelled at. Luckily you were only there to get your boyfriend for the date you had planned, it was rare that you got the same days off so you liked to take advantage of it whenever you could. Normally, Klaus would either meet you at the date location or come get you from your base, but for some reason he had requested you meet at the Golden Dawn’s headquarters.
You had been greeted at the door by Mimosa who said Klaus was just finishing up a quick meeting with the Captain and then he’d be ready to go. While waiting Mimosa offered to sit and chat so you didn’t feel so out of place, your Black robe standing out in the sea of golden ones. Accepting the offer you and Mimosa sat by a window enjoying some tea while chatting about recent missions and laughing at some stories of Klaus making a fool of himself over Asta.
Completely engrossed in Mimosa’s story about how concerned Klaus was when they found Asta passed out in the cave near Nean, you failed to notice the green haired mage approaching the two of you. “Yes, he really said he was only worried because if Asta was hurt then you would be upset and he didn’t want to see you cry.” Mimosa said holding in laughter also not noticing her Squadmate approaching.
“When did we start letting the riff raff lounge around our base?” Letoile said, as she looked at you with what could only be described as disgust.
“I’m sorry, what do you mean by that Letoile?” Mimosa asked, confused why her squadmate would say something like that.
The compass mage scoffed. “I mean, when was it okay for a Black Bull to just hang around the Golden Dawn’s base, shouldn’t they be with the other commoners and criminals?” Every word that came out hurt, sure you had heard it all before, the Black Bulls weren’t exactly the most respected squad, but this time it felt personal.
Mimosa watched as the color drained from your face, she could tell you were debating leaving even before Klaus was ready to go. “Y/n has every right to be here. They may not be a member of this squad but they are still a Magic Knight. Besides they’re waiting on Klaus, it’s not like they’re trying to move in.” The royal tried to defend you, but it seemed her words only gave the other woman more fuel for her fire.
“Oh that’s right, you’re Klaus’s charity case. The little commoner who barely managed to help save him in that dungeon. I don’t know how you convinced a noble like him to go out with you but he could do so much better. I mean he’s surrounded by powerful mages everyday and he picked a weak peasant like you. You probably used some forbidden spell to get his attention, huh?” Letoile said with a pointed look, clearly enjoying the clear turmoil on your face. She paused trying to think of more insults, hoping to find the one to get you to run off.
Unfortunately for her, it was at that moment a certain purple eyed mage decided to clear his throat. Everyone froze, Klaus may be calm and collected most of the time but when he’s upset it can get scary. “I don’t know what you think you gain from being rude to my partner, Letoile but I suggest you apologize and then leave them alone.” He said voice never changed from his usual calm and strict tone.  The green haired mage mumbled a quick apology and quickly ran off. Klaus then turned to Mimosa. “Thank you Mimosa for keeping them company while I was busy, and for standing up for them as well.” The red head nodded and quickly bid farewell before giving you to space.
“So how much of the interaction did you see?” You asked quietly as Klaus moved to help you stand from the table you were sitting at.
“The whole time, I heard you laughing about Mimosa’s retelling of what happened in Nean and was going to join you before she said much else when I saw Letoile approach. I wanted to see what she wanted.” He explained with a slight frown. “I’m sorry I should have stepped in sooner, I was curious to see how other members of the squad would react to you when I wasn’t present.” It was clear from his tone that he was truly sorry for the things his team mate said.
Resting a hand on his arm you spoke up. “It’s fine Klaus, sure what she said hurt but having you and Mimosa stand up for me means a lot. In all honesty I’ve heard worse, I’m a Black Bull after all.” Hearing you laugh at your last comment brought a smile to his face.
“Are you sure you’re okay, you looked close to crying or running?” He asked as he pointed out how clear it was you had been uncomfortable.
“Yes I’m fine. I can’t say what she said didn’t hurt but knowing how much you truly support me and seeing how much you’ve changed since meeting me and Asta, I know everything she said was out of jealousy.” You answered, now enjoying the look of slight confusion on his face.
“Jealousy? What do you mean?” Klaus was truly perplexed.
“Yeah, She’s just jealous I got the best guy and I didn’t even have to try.” You said, finishing the statement placing a kiss to the steel mage’s cheek. Klaus at a loss for words, his face bright red from the kiss, just held your hand and guided you out of the base towards the originally planned date.
Nozel:
To put simply Nozel is clueless when it comes to people flirting with him. To even start dating you had to straight up say you liked him and wanted to go on a date. That being said he is the most thoughtful man ever in a relationship. Believing that his partner deserves the world and all of his focus. So when a random member of his squad started flirting with him, he had no idea.
The first couple of times you had been out either on missions or just running a few errands, so you weren’t there to tell him this girl wasn’t just being kind to him but in fact trying to seduce him. Sure his younger siblings had been around and tried to tell him after the girl had left that she was flirting with him, but he only has eyes for you and in his eyes it’s clear he’s off limits, so surely Solid and Nebra are seeing things.
He only realizes that his siblings were right when the same girl came up and started flirting with him, while at a feast the Silver Eagles were holding for some reason. You and Nozel were sitting together having a conversation about how he should try being nicer to Noelle, when little miss heart eyes popped up.
“Hello Captain Nozel. How’s your day going?” The girl asked clearly unfazed by the glare both the captain and you gave her at the interruption. After hearing the quick fine breathed out by the now eerily calm Captain, she kept speaking. “That’s good to hear, I spent the day training and was thinking maybe you could give me some pointers on how to be more effective in combat?” She asked, twirling her hair and trying to act cute.
Nozel being clueless, and just annoyed that his conversation was interrupted by idle chatter mumbled a sure and turned to go back to his previous discussion. “Wow Captain, you are probably the best Captain there is, being willing to train even the lowest members of your squad. I can’t wait to learn from such an amazing mage.” The silver haired Captain just nodded and made to look back at you. “Do you do this for all your squad mates or am I just that special to you Nozel?” The girl went from subtle flirting to not trying to hide real quick.
“Honey I hate to break it to you, but Nozel is like this with everyone. He stopped listening to your squeaky ass voice the second you interrupted our conversation.” You said being done with the girl’s clear lack of care for those around her. “Besides take it from the person he’s dating, flirting will get you nowhere. Now if you don’t mind Me and my boyfriend here are gonna leave and if I hear even a suggestion that you’ve been flirting with him again you will wish you never looked in his direction.” With that you stood up, Nozel following without protest because he just wanted some peace.
“She wasn’t flirting with me was she?” He asked as you exited the dining hall making your way to your room at the Silver Eagles Base.
You couldn’t help but laugh at how clueless he could be. “Nozel honey, it was so painfully obvious to everyone she’s been flirting with you. Hell your siblings have told me previously that she’s done it and those two are so absorbed in their own delusions of greatness I’m shocked they noticed before you.” He just stared at you perplexed as he really thought, his siblings were fucking with him. Thinking for a moment he just nodded in acceptance entering your shared room ready to call it a night. “You know, for a Magic Knight Captain, you are really clueless sometimes. I’m sure even Fuegolen could have been able to tell she was flirting and that man can’t understand sarcasm.”
Hearing the mention of his rival Nozel glared at you as he undid the braid at the front of his hair. “Not funny.” He said full of seriousness, but from the slight smile he knew you were only joking.

hiiiii lyra :3 for the event could i request some romantic finessa please? thank you, hope you’re doing well
Hiya Tam! I’m so sorry this has taken me so long to write, and I also apologize this isn’t very romantic, it’s a little more “pining”/“beginning of feelings” but I still hope you enjoy 🥰!
Word Count: 671
Warnings: None

“ Just as I thought, this costume looks great on you!” Vanessa said as she gave Finral a once over, and the made hummed nervously.
“ Are you sure? I don’t look weird?” He asked as he nervously tugged at the frill on his sleeves, and Vanessa nodded.
“ I’m sure! You look great, and all the ladies in Kikka will be swooning once they see you in that pirate costume!” She told him with a grin, and Finral blushed as he rubbed the back of his head.
“ You think so?”
“ I know so. C’mon, let’s go matey!” She said with a wink as she threw her arm over Finral’s shoulder and held up a bottle of wine. He sighed and shook his head but smiled a bit as he opened a portal and the two stepped through it.
The two walked through the town together happily. Vanessa sipped her wine straight out of the bottle as she clung to her friend. Her cheeks were red, her voice was slurring, and she stumbled a bit. But Finral kept her standing with an arm gently wrapped around her waist.
“ Hey Finral, can we go sit over there? I’m feeling a little tired.” Vanessa giggled as she turned slightly, and Finral nodded.
The two walked over to a little grassy area by the fountain and he gently set her down before sitting down beside her. His heart suddenly skipped a beat when she rested her head on his shoulder.
“ Y’know, if people were to walk by right now I wonder what they would think. Would they think we were just two drunk pirates taking a rest, or maybe…would they think we were lovers having a romantic moment?” She asked, her voice holding a flirtatious tone to it. Finral’s face quickly turned a bright red.
“ W-What?!” He stammered nervously, but Vanessa just smiled at him and giggled softly.
“ I’m just teasing you. I know your heart already belongs to Finesse so I won’t try to steal you away from her.” She said with another giggle before she suddenly sighed as she turned her head away and closed her eyes.
“ But y’know, I am a little sad though,” Vanessa began softly, her eyes remaining closed. “ That she gets to have your heart and I don’t…it’s not fair.” She muttered, her voice slurring even more.
As Finral went to open his mouth to speak he heard her softly snoring and smiled a bit, when she said she was feeling tired she meant it. He softly sighed and shook his head.
“ Y’know, I thought I made my feelings clear, but I guess not.” He muttered with a chuckle as his eyes glanced down at Vanessa’s sleeping face.
“ I don’t have feelings for Finesse, at least not any more. I love her, and I always will, but it’s more…familial now than it used to be. She has a small piece of my heart, while someone else…has it entirely.” He said as a blush appeared on his cheeks.
“ You…you have my heart now Vanessa. My entire heart. For the last few years you’ve been by my side supporting me, encouraging me, and comforting me when I needed it most. You even believed in me when others didn’t…”
“ I love you, Vanessa. I thought I’ve made that clear the last two years, but I guess I still have a lot of work to do.” He finished with another laugh. “ But don’t worry, I’ll do like the Captain says and surpass my limits until eventually I’m up front and direct with you about my feelings!”
“ You better, ‘cause I’m getting tired of waiting.” Vanessa muttered as she sat up, making Finral jump in surprise.
“ V-Vanessa?! You’ve been awake this entire time?!”
But a wave of relief washed over him as Vanessa suddenly laid down onto the grass and fell back to sleep. Finral breathed a sigh of relief before he also fell back onto the grass.
He would let her sleep for a little while longer before he taking her back to the Hideout.

MATTERLIST
"One last Apology"
Summary: Nebra was sick, and went to apologise to Noelle before her death.
CW: death, angsty.
Noelle and Charmy were at a small boutique at Kikka, trying to get their minds off the other Bulls, carefully gazing at all the delicate dresses the shop had to offer. The bell of the shop's door clinged- signaling that someone had entered, as she got out of the small changing room.
The woman stood taller than she remembered.
Her hair had grown slightly, and she had a genuine smile on her lips, unlike the usual smirk she always wore. Her quartz eyes sparkled with love and regret, as she approached Noelle.
"Nebra"
Her sister offered a smile, one Noelle gladly accepted.
"Noelle, we... we have to talk." She stated, her voice filled with something Noelle couldn't quite place. Nebra led her outside, and sat her down on the end of the walk.
The streets were empty, nobody was around. The sun had set a few hours ago, and they all, including the bulls, had decided to go back to their homes. The walk they sat on was dimmly lit by a streetlight, its flame desperately trying to stay alight. The end of the walk was a bit wet, but Noelle sat down, and was surprised when Nebra did too.
"Listen Noelle... I-I had to talk to you. It's about... About me."
Noelle scoffed. Of course Nebra would want to talk about herself. She intended to get up, but her sister's iron grip was right on her wrist.
"I wanted to apologise. For everything." She took a deep breath. "I know I haven't been the best sister to you, but I needed to be in peace with you." She concluded.
Were Noelle's eyes tricking her? Or was Nebra crying... Was it a trick of the streetlight? It had to be.
But was it?
Noelle wanted to ask, but her sister swiftly got up nada made her way to the carriage the awaited at the other end of the street.
"Oh, and, Noelle?"
"Hm?"
"I love you, little sister" then, Nebra dissapeared in her carriage, travelling into the darkness of the night.
Nebra sat on her bed, in her nightgown. Nozel and Solid stood beside her, on the couch she had moved into her chambers. She felt lightheaded, and leaned her head on the pillow. Upon noticing this, Nozel and Solid quickly went to her side, holding her hands. They knew it was bound to happen.
If only they had more time...
Nebra paled more if posible, as her breathing slowly turned erratic.
"Brothers... I apologised." She said, a tear falling from her eye.
Nozel and Solid assured her they were proyd of her, no matter what. They wished for her to be okay. But that wouldn't happen.
"Mom... wait for me..."
Her breathing stopped.
Nozel and Solid broke down crying, as they realized they would never see their sister again.
Noelle suddently felt something. Something in the back of her head told her something was not right.
If only she had known that was the last time she would see her...

Ooo may I ask for 7, 24, and 30 for Vanessa and maybe your OC Altan please 🥰?
Aww thank you Lyra! I adore Vanessa and will gladly take any and all opportunities to ramble about her, and I'm flattered that you'd like to know more about Altan. I'd be delighted to answer these for you!
Questions for this Character Ask Game
(Warnings: some mentions of Vanessa's childhood trauma, the Forest of Witches arc, and related nightmares. Some mentions of the House Vaude drama, related trauma, and strained relationship between Finral and Langris)
Vanessa Enoteca
7. A quote of them that you remember
This is a hard one because Vanessa has so many amazing moments, but I think I'll go with the two that came to mind immediately. (1) I love the moment where she tells the Queen of Witches, "You and I have no bonds." Recognizing that the Black Bulls are the family she always wanted and that she doesn't need Her Majesty's "love" to be happy is such a pivotal moment in her character development, and it honestly still gives me chills every time I watch or read it. (2) An anime addition, but I love that encouraging little speech she gives Finral before he faces Langris in the Royal Knight's Exam (I won't type out the whole thing but it ends with something like "You're not going to lose to him so easily anymore. Go show him how awesome you are--and I don't just mean the hair!"). Vanessa just has such a gift in building up her friends and encouraging them, and she believes in them even when they don't believe in themselves. I love that scene because it is a real reflection of that.
24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone?
In general, I think a lot of what happened to her in her childhood is a big secret for Vanessa. Vanessa is the type of person who really tries to bury her pain and focus on the positive and/or on other people's problems even when she, herself, is hurting. She had told very few of her friends about her childhood in the Forest of Witches, prior to the arc that took place there, and even then, I think she only told them bits and pieces of the story.
Since she doesn't want her squad family to worry about her, she's never told them that her past still comes back to haunt her, mainly in her nightmares and fears of enclosed, crammed spaces. Though they had gotten less frequent, she does have still nightmares about her childhood and also about the events in the Forest of Witches arc/losing her friends, and when they get particularly bad, she will sleep by candlelight because she is afraid of waking up back in that cage and her tower.
30. The funniest scene they had?
Vanessa has such a great sense of humor, and I loved any time she affectionately teased her friends. There are some great moments between her, Noelle, and Asta on their first outing to the castle town of Kikka for instance, and her friendship with Magna especially has always made me laugh from their first appearance where they're poking fun at each other's vices. The scene that came to mind immediately read this prompt is also from Episode 80 in the Royal Knight's Exam (can you tell that's my one of my favorite episodes?) though. There's a moment where Magna asks if she'll do his hair too, and Vanessa teases him that there's no way. It's all in good fun, and Luck gets some great lines where he chimes in and teases Magna too. It's cute and makes me laugh every time.
Altan Vaude (OC)
[A/N: Altan loves his auntie very much so he would be so happy to know he has been included as part of the same ask as her 💖]
7. A quote of them that you remember
Poor Altan. I've barely written about him, so he hasn't gotten to say much yet. He has appeared in some of my wips though, and there's an exchange between him and his Papa that I really like so I'll share that here:
Langris had to admit, he was happy for the temporarily distraction from poor Finesse and her failing health. His palms started to sweat again at the thought, and he began to wring his hands before Altan’s tiny fingers curled around one of them.
“Is Mama alright?” he asked.
“She’s just not feeling well,” Langris explained—trying to shake the worst-case-scenarios out of his own head.
“Should we go pick some flowers for her?” he asked with a kindness that brought a smile to Langris’ face. No words could describe how relieved he was that his son took after his gentle, kindhearted mother rather than a disagreeable misanthrope like him. The hard-lines in Langris’ face softened, and he even managed a slight smile.
24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone?
Altan is shy, but he's not particularly secretive on purpose. If asked about himself, he will share and actually answer instead of deflecting questions and playing 3D chess, smoke and mirrors mind-games like his dad used to do. It just isn't easy for him to freely offer such information without being asked about himself since he doesn't particularly like the spotlight. He tends to be pretty open with his family and closest friends though so he doesn't have too many secrets from them.
He does have one big secret, however which is that, by the time he's in his teens, Altan actually knows a lot about what went on between his father and uncle and how strained their relationship was in the past. Finral and Langris had long ago agreed to let bygones be bygones and decided not to tell their children about how much bad blood used to exist between them. Altan, however, kind of put a lot of pieces together and knows that his father made a lot of mistakes when he was younger, especially in regards to his relationship with his brother. He doesn't ever really bring it up, however, because he knows that his father has a lot of fear that learning all of that would change the way his son saw him, and he doesn't want to open those old wounds for his dad. However, the realization doesn't change much for Altan--he has forgiven his father and thinks what is important is that his dad learned from his mistakes and tried to better going forward, and in fact, he thinks that is a very admirable thing. Someday when Altan is a grown man, his father sits him down to tell him the truth, and it is such a moving moment for Langris when Altan just smiles at him and says he has known for a long time and it doesn't change anything.
30. The funniest scene they had?
Altan gets roped into all kinds of shenanigans thanks to his much more rambunctious cousins and friends, but he himself doesn't usually cause too much trouble or chaos on his own. However, he did participate in a prank of his dad once. When Altan wanted to get his hair cut by his aunt, the extended family decided to pull a bit of a prank on him and sent Altan home wearing a wig of a ridiculously awful haircut. Langris was so relieved when it was revealed just to be a wig, and they actually got him to laugh which made Altan very happy.

Mock Cinderella Play
“What?!” Elora yelled in indignation. The others in the club room grimaced at the shout.
“It’s not as bad as it could have been.” Frederick said as he shrugged.
“‘Not as bad as it could have been’?” Benjamin asked as he eyed Frederick in disbelief, “I got the Fairy Godmother! The Fairy Godmother! How am I supposed to pull that off?!”
“I demand we go again.” Kenneth stated with a displeased frown.
Multiple sighs and groans sounded throughout the room.
It all started just earlier that day, when Felix Fronius, Elora O’Riain, and Frederick Atonal were assigned to do a Cinderella play for the festival that was taking place in their school, Kuran Private High School.
They started recruiting actors, first going to two of their friends from a freshman class and their club, Benjamin Adley and Chika Kubo.
The three of them then started recruiting those they knew personally. Felix asked his roommate, Daniel Dalisay, and Elora her cousin, Kenneth Haight, who was in his junior year. Frederick tried asking some people but got rejected for one reason or another.
Luckily, Kenneth was part of the student council and was able to convince a couple of other members, Kikka Lebedev and Marnie Lusk.
Having finally gathered enough people, they were all ushered into their club room, where they decided to just draw lots to discern who got which role.
Which was, apparently, a terrible idea.
“Look, I know the results are less than favorable, but we’re gonna have to deal, okay?” Kikka said with a frown, “The play is in a week, and we must not only memorize our lines but get our costumes together and stuff. We don’t have time to fight over our roles.”
“She’s right!” Marnie agreed with an encouraging smile, “If we just practice, I’m sure we’ll be able to get our roles down, no matter how unfavorable they are! That’s the beauty of acting, after all. Saying and doing things without meaning it!”
Everybody made a face at the weird take on acting but no other objections were made.
Benjamin sighed, “It certainly doesn’t help that the only person who actually knows how to act has the one role that doesn’t require acting.” He muttered. Everyone promptly turned to look at Felix, who had drawn the role of “narrator”.
“What’s with the looks? It’s not my fault you all got bad draws.” The red head said with an unimpressed tone, completely unbothered by the situation, which only prompted more sighs of frustration.
“I get that we can’t really complain,” Elora admitted, frustration clear on her features, “after all, we did decide to draw lots. But you can’t expect me to act like I’m in love with Kenneth.” She sharply pointed at the man in question, “He’s my cousin!”
Frederick cringed and nodded, “Yeah, that’s a fair point.”
“So, are we drawing again or not?” Daniel asked, “I mean, I’m actually quite happy with who I got.” He showed them the paper, which read “King”.
Kikka sighed, “It’s true that it’ll be a little awkward for the two of you to act as the romantic couple,” she gestured to the two cousins, “But it’s only you two and Ben who got bad roles.” The others murmured agreements and nodded.
Elora and Kenneth still looked unhappy as they eyed each other in mild disgust.
“What if we just… rewrote it?” Surprisingly, Felix was the one who asked the question.
Everybody turned to him, intrigued.
He shrugged, “What if we just rewrote the play so we don’t have to do anything we’re uncomfortable with? It’s not like Dick gave us rules we had to follow or anything.”
That was true. Dick, the teacher who assigned them the play, only said to try and make it entertaining, which, while obvious, wasn’t at all encouraging if that’s what he was trying to convey.
“So, you’re suggesting that we just rewrite it to our will?” Kenneth asked, skeptically.
“Why not?” Felix responded, “As long as the basic setting and characters are still there, I don’t see a problem. Dick did say to make it interesting, and if you ask me, the original is getting a little boring.” He said with a smirk.
Frederick made a considering noise as he thought it over.
“Yeah… Why not?” Frederick grinned, “That’s actually not a bad idea. Thanks Felix!” He commended, beaming at the red head.
Felix blinked, “Thanks? What do you mean ‘actually’—”
“So, who should rewrite it then?” Chika said.
“Lusk is part of the newspaper club.” Kenneth informed, “She’s one of their best writers. I’m sure she could whip something up right away.” His tone was almost proud. The girl in question blushed but nodded as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
“Then it’s decided!” Chika chirped happily, “We’ll rewrite the story to fit our needs and make the most unique Cinderella play Mr. Dick’s ever seen!”
Several cheers are sounded throughout the room.
One week later, the teenagers were all gathered backstage in the school gym, where a theater was set up.
“Okay, we only have fifteen minutes ‘til showtime, so let’s do one last check-up!” Kikka ordered, “Costumes?”
“Check!” Elora shouted in response.
“Props?”
“All handmade and ready to go!” Chika confirmed with a mock salute.
“Half-baked, last-minute acting skills?”
“Uuh, define ‘acting skills?’” Ben asked nervously before Frederick elbowed him and gave Kikka a reassuring smile, “Check!”
“Great.” Kikka grinned, “Not the best theater troupe you’ve ever seen, but not bad all things considered!”
“I just hope the audience will like it.” Marnie said with a nervous smile.
“The only one you need to worry about liking it is me.” A male voice suddenly spoke, causing everyone to pause and turn to see Advik Dixit, or Dick as the students had ever so lovingly dubbed him. Not that they ever called him that to his face.
“Mr. Dix!” Elora called in surprise before narrowing her eyes and huffing in faux irritation, “You here to make sure we don’t mess up or something? What, you don’t think we can handle a play on our own?”
“In all honesty, no I don’t.” Advik stated blankly, “I’m only here so I can get a closer look backstage. It would make it easier to grade you.”
Frederick nodded in understanding, “That makes se—Wait, we’re being graded?!”
Felix glared at the teacher, “You didn’t say anything about that.”
Advik raised an eyebrow, “I figured I didn’t need to. It says so on the papers I gave you three.”
Elora whipped around to look for the information papers he gave them, “But I thought—”
“Five minutes left!” Kikka announced, causing everyone to pause and then focus on double checking that they were prepared to go on stage.
“One minute!”
“That’s our cue!” Chika said, quickly pushing Elora to the stage.
The latter quickly scrambled to the stage, where the lights were already dimming.
The play started and the lights on the stage turned on to reveal a girl in rags mopping the floor of a mansion. The sparkly decorations and lavish furniture was a drastic difference compared to the girl’s dirty appearance.
“Once upon a time, there was girl named Cinderella,” Felix narrated into a microphone off to the side, “This girl was a beautiful maiden that, despite the dirty rags she adorned every day, lit up every room with her mere presence.”
Elora, as Cinderella, was indeed pretty with her long silky blue hair and purple eyes.
“However, Cinderella was constantly abused by her stepmother and stepsisters, who were jealous of her beauty.”
Elora abruptly paused her mopping, “Abused?” she mused to herself, “Nah, it’s more like the irritating buzzing of three pompous flies who can’t take care of themselves. If I didn’t clean this place, who would?”
“The fourth wall does not appreciate the beating, Cinderella.”
The girl rolled her eyes in response before jumping at the sound of a very loud “CINDERELLA!!” coming from the side.
She glared as Chika, as Anastasia, came running to her, out of breath and in a panic.
“Anastasia.” Elora greeted in a bored tone, “Is there something wrong?”
“Oh, it’s terrible!” Chika, exclaimed, “A mouse! A mouse in my room! Oh, you must take care of it, Cinderella! You were always the best at these kinds of jobs.”
“Don’t you mean the only one with the nerve to do the dirty work? It’s been like this since we were kids.”
“And that’s how it should be.” Another female voice had cut in.
Marnie, as Drizella, walked in from Elora’s other side.
“As the house-maid, you are the only one responsible for chasing away vermin.” She said in a pompous tone.
Elora huffed, “I am not a maid, I’m just the only competent person here.”
Marnie looked insulted, “The only one?! You—”
“Truly evil, as you can see.” Felix narrated in a dry tone as the two fought, “This continued through the rest of the morning until a knock came from the door.” Right on cue, a knocking sound came from somewhere offstage, catching the attention of the three girls immediately.
“I’ll get it.” Elora said as she walked away from sight.
“Good morning, miss.” Said a disembodied voice.
“Good morning. How may I help you?” Elora replied.
“A message from the king, miss. He wants every eligible maiden to attend a ball to celebrate the prince’s return from overseas.”
“A ball?” the girl asked, thinly veiled excitement in her voice, “And we’re invited?”
“Well, yes, as long as you’re not already romantically involved with someo—”
“Are you kidding me? We’ll be there.” Elora assured the messenger. Not a second later, the girl ran back to the others.
“Did you hear?” she asked, grinning widely.
“Of course, we heard!” Chika exclaimed, “We’ve been invited to a ball!”
“And to meet the prince.” Marnie reminded them, smile hidden behind her hand.
“Oh, who cares?” Elora dismissed, “We get to go to a ball!”
“We?” A voice cut in. Kikka, as the stepmother, walked in behind them.
“And who said you were attending, Cinderella?” The woman asked, a stern look on her face.
“Well, why not?” Elora snapped, “You can’t stop me from going.”
“I can and I will.” Kikka declared. Elora ground her teeth and opened her mouth to shout but was cut off.
“Unless, that is, you can get the house completely cleaned before we leave.”
“Completely?” The maiden asked in disbelief, “You can’t be serious! We live in a mansion! You can’t expect me to finish cleaning the whole house in mere hours! It takes days on average!”
“I suppose you better hurry then.” The mother snidely remarked before turning away, “Come on girls, we need to get your dresses ready for the ball.”
The stepsisters hesitated, but ultimately followed their mother with a “good luck” from Anastasia and an apologetic glance from Drizella.
“And so, Cinderella was left to clean, knowing full well she wouldn’t be able to finish before the ball, let alone obtain an appropriate dress.”
The stage grows dark, leaving a stricken Elora in its wake.
After a minute, the stage lights up again, revealing Elora on the floor, absentmindedly scrubbing the floor.
“What to do, what to do…” The girl muttered to herself, “It’s been hours, and I still haven’t finished… Mum and my sisters have already left…” She huffed irritably and stood up.
“At this point, I might as well just finish cleaning tomorrow. I’m not going to the ball anyway, so what’s the point?!”
“Not so fast!”
Elora shrieked as a figure suddenly appeared in a puff of smoke in front of her.
“Who are you?!” She screamed as she fell back to the floor.
“I am your Fairy Godfather!” Benjamin, as the Fairy Godfather, explained.
Elora stared in confusion, “My… what?”
“Your Fairy Godfather. You know, your godfather that’s a fairy?” He explained, as if it was obvious.
Elora just stared at him incredulously, “Aren’t you a little… young to be my godfather?”
“Never mind that.” The boy dismissed with a wave of his hand, “The point is, I’m a fairy, and I can help you.”
“Help me?” she asked, intrigued.
“Yep. You want to go to the ball, correct?”
“Yes!” She confirmed, jumping up from her spot on the floor.
“Then I might have a solution for that.”
Elora tilted her head to the side in confusion before two strips of cloth shot out from the side of the stage and started dragging the girl away.
“Eh?! Wha— Fairy Godfather!!” The strips dragged her away kicking and screaming as Benjamin watched passively.
“The Fairy Godfather cast his spell to turn Cinderella’s dirty rags into a beautiful gown.”
Elora was all but shoved back onstage, tripping on her feet and faceplanting on the ground.
“Ow…” she groaned, collecting herself off the floor.
“Very good, now, you’ll be taking this carriage here.” The boy instructed as a carriage rolled onto the stage. Elora’s eyes widened in surprise.
“A carriage?!”
“Did you think the one your family took earlier was the only carriage you owned?”  Benjamin said with a judging look, “What, you thought I was gonna whip up a little convoy for you? Turn one of these oversized gourds your family doesn’t eat into a carriage? My godchild, that’s above my pay grade. This will do.”
She had the decency to least-wise look a little sheepish, “I don’t really use them…”
The boy sighed, “Just… get in the carriage. We’ve wasted enough time already.”
Elora nodded and hurried into it.
“Off you go now!” Benjamin said as the carriage started rolling back off the stage, “Oh, and by the way, you only have until midnight before the spell wears off and you’ll be wearing rags again. So, about an hour.”
“An hour?!” she exclaimed right before she was removed from view.
The stage darkened again before it lit up a minute later, revealing Kenneth, as the Prince, sitting in a chair as he idly drank from a cup.
“Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the ball was thriving in the King’s castle. However, the Prince wasn’t all too enthusiastic about it, sulking in the corner as he was.”
“I’m not sulking.” Kenneth refuted irritably, “And I’m not in a corner. I’m sitting at a table in the middle of the room.” He glared at Felix, who was hidden off to the side of the stage. Though their audience couldn’t see it, Felix glared back at him.
“You may not be in a corner, but you are sulking. Now stop going off-script.” He snapped.
Kenneth turned away with a huff, continuing to glower off in the distance.
“Your highness.” Said a voice, catching Kenneth’s attention. Frederick, as the Grand Duke, walked up to him, stature and voice formal.
“It’s been hours since the ball had officially started, and yet you’ve barely talked to anyone. May I ask why?”
Kenneth shrugged, “Nobody’s caught my eye.”
The other sighed, “Your highness, your father explicitly requested that you find a bride tonight. If he found out you’ve made no effort—”
“What am I supposed to do?” Kenneth snapped harshly, “Walk up to a random girl and ask for a dance?”
Frederick gave him a look, “That is exactly what you’re supposed to do.”
Flushing lightly, Kenneth looked away, drinking more from his cup.
“Oh, come on, son!” Said another man, who walked onto the stage and stood next to the Kenneth. Frederick bowed, saying “Your majesty” in greeting.
Daniel, as the King, took one look around the room, “My, there’s quite an abundance of pretty, single, woman here tonight! Why don’t you talk to them?”
Kenneth glared at him, “You’re speaking as if they’re displays at the market.” He scolded, “Stop that. And I already told you, I’m not going to just marry any pretty woman you throw at me. Marriage is the endgame of what should be slow process.”
“In other words, he wants to marry a woman he falls in love with, not one you picked off the street.” Frederick explained.
Kenneth flushed further and glared at the man, to which the latter only shrugged in response.
“But son,” Daniel started with a sigh, putting both hands on Kenneth’s shoulders, “You’re not gonna find someone to date if you don’t talk to them, and that’s exactly what you’re avoiding.”
“I’m not going to find love by looking for it.” Kenneth said, “I want our first meeting to go naturally, not enforced.”
Just then, Both Chika and Marnie walked up to them, smiles polite and nervous.
“Good evening, your highness.” Marnie bowed gracefully, prompting Chika to follow, “How are you, this fine night?”
Kenneth stared at her for a moment before answering, “I’m doing well, this evening. And you?”
“Delightful.” She answered and then paused, a hesitant glance at Chika, before looking the man in the eye with determination.
“Me and my sister here have been itching to dance for a while now.” She batted her eyes, “But I’m afraid we haven’t found any partners.”
Kenneth visibly straightened, already offering his hand, “Then would you—”
“Oh my, look at her!” Said a voice from behind them. All five of them turned around to see Elora at the back of the stage perusing around the props. Multiple disembodied voices continued to sing her praises, the girl completely oblivious to them.
“She is quite pretty.” Kenneth noted as Daniel smiled widely.
“That she is!” He exclaimed before turning to Kenneth and all but shoving the man towards her, “In fact! I think you should go ask her for a dance!”
“Wha—?! But I was—”
“Come on! Just one dance?” Daniel looked straight in Kenneth’s eyes with the most pleading gaze he could muster.
In the end, the man couldn’t resist them, and said yes.
Kenneth walked up to the blue-haired girl, ignoring the disappointed look on Marnie’s face.
“Excuse me, miss?” He called, catching Elora’s attention, “Would you like a dance?”
The girl gave him a once over and turned away.
“No thanks.” She dismissed easily.
Kenneth blinked, before calmly turning to Daniel, “She rejected me.” He stated.
Daniel had his head in his hand and Frederick looked like he was holding back laughter.
“Wow, the most beautiful maiden here, but she’s unfortunately quite blasé...” The brunette said in amusement, his formal stature cracking.
Kenneth rolled his eyes, “She is indeed, quite pretty, but she’s hardly the most beautiful.” He then turned back to Marnie, who visibly brightened by his attention, until a hand grabbed his wrist, prompting him to look back and see Elora standing there.
“Excuse you?” The girl asked, shaking slightly, “And what exactly is that supposed to mean?” She looked Kenneth in the eyes, hot anger burning inside her own.
“I didn’t say you were ugly.” He stated with a frown, “In fact, quite the opposite. Are you so conceited that you can’t stand for anything less than praise?”
That just made the girl glare harder, “You didn’t have to say it in such a rude way!”
The man’s gaze turned irritated, “You rejected me barely a second after I requested a dance.”
“Are you so cocky you couldn’t have imagined a girl would reject you?”
The two glared at each other for a moment.
“C-come on you two…” Daniel started, trying to placate the argument, “Maybe you could settle this over a game or something? In fact, it’s almost time for the midnight dance! You two could dance together to see who’s better!”
At the mention of midnight, Elora gasped and glanced at the clock, only to see that at that moment it was 11:50. All the while, Kenneth shot down Daniel’s idea, saying it would be ridiculous to dance with someone you didn’t even like.
“As much as I would like to continue this delightful conversation,” She started, suddenly yanking her hand from his wrist and backing away, “But I have to leave now. I don’t have time for silly squabbles.” She turned away and dashed towards the food table, grabbing an assortment of treats, before running away in a very non-lady-like manner.
Kenneth jolted at her actions and looked offended, “You’re the one who started this ‘silly squabble’!” He shouted incredulously as she ran away. The man huffed irritably as he walked back to the others.
“Well, that was weird.” Daniel commented, “So, what’d you think?”
“She’s a beauty but it isn’t nearly enough to make up for that personality.” Kenneth scoffed.
“If you say so.” Daniel sighed, “However, I would still like to—” he turned around, only to see that the blue-haired girl had left. The clock’s bells rang, announcing that it was midnight.
“Cinderella ran away that night, her identity a mystery and no clues as to who she could have been, much to the King’s disappointment. However, the Prince and Drizella danced through the night, only leaving the other’s side when the girls had to head back home.”
True enough, Kenneth asked Marnie for a dance, and she eagerly agreed. They danced on stage for a bit before Chika tapped Marnie’s shoulder.
“I’m afraid we have to leave, sister.” Chika said with an apologetic smile.
“Oh…” Marnie looked disappointed, “That’s my cue then. It was lovely to meet you, your highness.” She pulled away and started to follow the other girl, only to be stopped by a hand on her wrist.
“Wait!” Kenneth called, “What’s your name?”
Marnie looked surprised but smiled in delight, “Drizella.” She answered simply before finally leaving.
The stage darkened once more, lighting up again to reveal Elora and her family at the dinner table, drinking tea. A knock was heard from somewhere offstage.
“I’ll get it.” Elora announced as she stood up and walked towards the noise.
“Good morning miss. May we come in?” Said a male voice. Elora watched in surprise as Frederick walked onstage, along with Kenneth. Once Elora met eyes with Kenneth, the two stared at each other for a moment in stunned silence.
“IT’S YOU!?!?” They both shouted, pointing at each other incredulously.
“You’re that stuck-up prince!” Elora yelled.
“Stuck-up—Excuse me?!” Kenneth yelled back indignantly, “Says that rude little maiden who couldn’t take an off-handed comment about your looks!”
“Oh, I’ll show you ‘little’—”
“With all do respect, but you two realize that you have an audience?” Frederick suddenly interrupted, exasperated.
Elora and Kenneth paused their bickering and slowly turned to face Elora’s step-family, who were silently watching in shock.
“Y-your highness!?” Marnie exclaimed, standing up and bowing, “To what do we owe the pleasure?”
Kenneth cleared his throat and collected himself before both him and Frederick bowed as well.
“Excuse us for our intrusion.” Kenneth apologized.
“Oh, not at all!” Kikka responded as she and Chika stood up as well.
Kenneth cleared his throat once more, “I could have come later, but I wanted to do this as soon as possible.” He then got down on one knee in front of Marnie and pulled out a small box, everyone held their breath in anticipation, “Miss Drizella, would you go…” He opened the box, “Go out on a date with me?”
“A date?!” everyone exclaimed. In the box was a small hydrangea brooch.
“Wait, so you’re not going to ask her to marry you?” Chika asked in bewilderment.
Kenneth gave her a look, “I’ve only met her hours ago. Of course, I’m not going to ask her to marry me.”
“But—You—You got on your knees and everything!” The blonde defended herself.
“I admit, it was little misleading.” Frederick remarked. Rolling his eyes, Kenneth turned his gaze back to Marnie.
“Do you accept my offer, miss?”
Marnie immediately dropped to her knees and hugged Kenneth, sobbing and shouting “Yes!” multiple times.
“The heart-warming sight inspired the others to cheer and celebrate the new relationship. Everyone hugging each other in pure happiness.”
True to his word, the others cheered and praised the new couple, throwing flower petals—Which they got from seemingly nowhere—into the air and embracing each other.
Amidst the chaos, Elora crouched beside Kenneth, “Break her heart and I’ll break your legs.” She whispered in a threatening tone.
“I’d like to see you try.” He replied with an unimpressed glare, but then tilted his head in consideration, “…But if I do break her heart, I’d let you.”
The girl gave him a small smile and nodded. The three of them stood up and they all faced the audience.
“And so, the Prince and Drizella started dating and the King could rest easy knowing his son was in a stable relationship. As for Cinderella and Anastasia, they moved away some years later and built their own lives. As the years passed, the couple fell more in love, and eventually got married. They all lived happily ever after. The end.”
The audience cheered as the actors present bowed, followed by Benjamin and Daniel who ran onstage to bow as well. Eventually, they got off the stage and the gym’s lights turned on, signaling the audience to leave.
“That was so fun!” Chika cheered backstage. Several cries of agreement responded.
“I’m pretty sure I was shaking the entire time…” Marnie admitted as she sighed in relief, “You think anyone noticed?”
“I think you did wonderfully.” Kenneth reassured her with a hand on her shoulder. Marnie smiled and nodded gratefully.
“For a play put together by teenagers, I admit it wasn’t that bad.” Advik commented off-handedly.
“Soo, what grade did we get?” Elora asked their teacher, grinning brightly.
“I’m not grading it now. You three will get your grades after the festival is over.”
“Wait, so, what do we get?” Kenneth asked, gesturing to himself, and the five others who helped them with the play.
“Well, since the six of you weren’t assigned the project in the first place, I can’t give you a grade.” Advik stated with an unbothered shrug, “And whether or not you get extra points for it is up to your own teachers.”
“So, we get no compensation?” Kikka asked.
“I believe that’s up to them.” Advik gestured to his three students before walking away, deciding he had better things to do.
“…How about we take you all out to dinner?” Frederick suggested after an awkward silence had settled over them.
“Sounds great!” Chika agreed.
Later that evening, the group found themselves in a French restaurant, lively with chatter, and squeezed around a table.
“I can’t believe we didn’t realize it was graded…” Frederick commented idly.
“Yeah, and I suppose we did see that grading rubric he put on those assignment papers.” Elora huffed as she bitterly took another bite of her food, “But I just thought it was there so we’d know what was expected of the play!”
“Well, this school is known for taking it’s extra-curricular activities stupidly seriously.” Felix commented, “Really, we should have known better.”
“I suppose it was a good thing we followed the rubric regardless of whether it was graded or not.” Marnie laughed. As the one assigned to writing the play, she’d been given the rubric as something to base off of.
“Thank God you weren’t foolish enough to ignore the rubric completely.” Kikka sighed, “I’m honestly glad I’m not actually being given a grade.”
“Here, here!” Daniel yelled in a mock cheer.
The group laughed and chatted until they’d finished their food and it was time to leave.
“You know, all things considered, I had a lot of fun being in the play!” Chika stated as they walked back to their dorms.
“Yeah.” Frederick laughed in agreement, “I suppose, in the end, all that matters is that we enjoyed it.”

Hi! 25, 9, 2 from the music asks?
Hello!
2. A song you like with a number in the title?
60 uutta ongelmaa by Apulanta. (60 new problems). That's the vibe.
9. A song that makes you happy?
No song has ever made me happy.I'm joking. Obviously Blow Your Speakers by Big Time Rush. It was my favourite track from them for a long time. Used to listen to it a lot. Have been listening a lot again now that I got bacik into their stuff. Reminds me of my childhood happy times.
25. A song by an artist no longer living?
Anna rakas raju hetki by Kikka. Went to see the movie about her and she has a lot of really fun songs. A bit sad people didn't take her seriously at the time ( although I doubt they would modernly either, considering the lyrical contents).
Still, she seemed to enjoy her music a lot. It's all so fun.

❝ as you get older, you might start to find that things get harder. ❞ for kika if that's okay?
“Like you know so much?” She pouts and her cheeks push out as she does, brown eyes challenging as she stands her ground. “I don’t need you to tell me that, my Dad already does that enough. I’ll be a pokemon master, so you can shove it.”

It's my birthday soon so can I please have some headcanons for how the entire crew of LoV would celebrate s/o's birthday (like all five of them and s/o)? It doesn't have to be romantic, it could be any kind of weird and funny situations. Please and thank you. Btw I really really loved LoV, like it's my favourite VN that I read in the past half a year or so, it's just so good. Gotta go get that bonus content now. Have a nice day!
Of course! Happy birthday!!!
Kikka prefers more intimate celebrations and in the evening, she’d make your favorite foods for dinner and treat you to a sweet dessert. The two of you would do something fun but calming together, like slow dancing or taking a bubble bath. She’d give you a thoughtful gift like DIY hair pins or a book on self-defense. The day would end with you falling asleep on her shoulder under a cozy blanket.
Bemelle is a romantic at heart, though he’ll never admit it. He’ll work tirelessly with your loved ones to give you a great day, from breakfast in bed to a scavenger hunt through town to a fun celebration running from the afternoon into the night. He’d want to gift you something practical yet sweet, so you’d likely open your present to find a pair of stylish but sturdy boots or a pocket knife with your initials hand-carved into it.
Margret would treat you like royalty all day, from cooking all your meals to even dressing like a butler. She’d fuss over you more than usual, always making sure you were warm enough and everything was to your liking. At the end of the day, she’d treat you to a bottle of wine and freshly baked cookies, along with a massage accompanied with her softly singing happy birthday. Her gift would be something useful but with future sentimental value, like a scarf she knit herself or a photo album filled with memories.
The Guide doesn’t really “do” celebrations, but he wants to make an effort for your birthday. So he does what he does best: be extra. He rents a horse-drawn carriage for the day and it takes the two of you to different places in town, from the museum to the bakery, where you get your birthday cake and other decadent delights. He doesn’t really like being out and about during the day, but he always makes exceptions for you. The two of you unwind afterwards and fall asleep on one another. His gift: his presence, of course.
Lu is certainly an awkward guy but he does try his best. He goes out and buys you the biggest cake he can, but of course it doesn’t fit in the fridge so he stores it in the freezer chest. Then he purchases some balloons but when you open the door, he gets so nervous he accidentally lets go and they float away. He takes you to the park for a nice picnic and it starts raining. When the two of you run back home soaking wet, he apologizes for ruining your birthday and for never being able to do anything right. You laugh and say he didn’t ruin your birthday, and the two of you go on to enjoy a nice evening eating frozen cake and drinking hot cocoa together. For your gift, he’d give you a compass or poetry book “to remember to enjoy the little things.”
Hope these were satisfactory, thanks for the ask!

I recently finished a playthrough of Lake of Voices. I love this game so much!!I have a question involving Kikka, she's one of my favorite VN protagonist now. Strong, stoic, yet sensitive and empathetic. I'm swooning.
From the very first option she can make, she has been nothing but thoughtful and sensitive. It's easy to see how she always masked that part of her by silence. It's true that a stranger would thought she is pragmatic and unmoved, but why would Bemelle, a fellow guard who's been with her for some time, think she wouldn't be as affected by another stranger's passing?
Also, the Guide will always try to get Kikka out alive if she didn't do anything out of line. While considering all 3(4) passenger's identity and personalities, Kikka is a model traveler. (Calm, collected, pragmatic, listens to advice seriously) The selection existed from the start, how would he know she would work hard to make sure people don't get near the lake after she left? Wouldn't Margret or Bemelle do the same?
Aw, thank you very much! It's nice to hear you enjoyed the game.
For Bemelle, he is so earnest he isn't prepared to deal with those who aren't. It's not in his mindset to assume people aren't presenting themselves in a truthful way. She acted as someone who didn't feel things and he simply believed it wholeheartedly. That pretend version of her was reality to him until he saw differently with his own eyes.
For the Guide, I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean. The Guide doesn't want Kikka specifically to make it from the start. Some dying and some living is perfectly fine, it doesn't matter who. In most stories he lets the three main travelers determine their own fates and offers them equal knowledge/minimal attention. In one storyline he does have to pick just one person to help and by then Kikka is the obvious choice. In his own story where he goes out of his way for her, you as the player had to win him over for him to bother assisting. If not, she's on her own still. He begins the story neutral and can stay that way or grow respect/distaste/possibly affection for her, depending on how things work out.

Garden (Valentine’s Day Special #1)
Tumblr media
Pairing: William Vangeance X Reader
Warning/s: None
Note/s: Soft boi going soft for us? yes please. 🤚 Had my readers in wattpad vote for who they wanted me to make a v-day special for, and william was leading as he dominated the first slot 😂 anywayss, hope you enjoy this!! 😚💕
As the captain of the strongest brigade in Clover Kingdom, William didn't really have much time for hobbies, much less his self. But there were several occasions when he had at least a few hours to kill, and in that time he either conversed freely with the birds living in the tree's of the Golden Dawn's base, or studied about a variety of things.
Despite the amount workload that needed to be done, he needed to clear his schedule since tomorrow is a special day.
For tomorrow, is Valentine's.
The masked man didn't have anyone in particular to celebrate the occasion with. The reason why he deemed the holiday one worth mentioning and celebrating, was because his secret project has long been neglected and he reasoned with himself, that he would finally place his plan in motion; a mini garden.
Patri was the one who gave him the idea months ago, seeing how his friend always read a book or two about gardening and yet they never even had one in the first place.
Everything was settled. The place was picked, the structure of the garth was created, and all he needed was plants. Particularly, flowers. The kind that would give him the vibrancy and life he currently lacked.
Being the honest man that he is to those he trusted, the Golden Dawn's captain has mentioned his little project to his acting father; the Wizard King.
Luckily for him, Julius mentioned that there was a local flower shop that had just opened near the borders of Kikka's perimeter. It was far from the base, but it was near where he would be patrolling the very same day. His first impression when he walked inside was how welcoming the place felt. How the light of the open greenhouse hit every flower and plant so pleasantly that it made his smile grew wider. But even before he could make the next step inside the glass greenhouse, you popped out of nowhere and beamed him a smile. Initially, anyone's first reaction would be shock, prominently written across their face. He, however, was not and looked more like he was in a daze. "Well hello, Sir Magic Knight! What can I get for you today?" your words laced in kindness sounded pleasant in his ears. This man has been greeted with the same words countless of times so why does it seem like he's experiencing it for the first? "Flowers." the world magic tree user mentally face-palmed at his answer. Of course, he was looking for flowers! This was a flower shop for pete's sake! You, being the bubbly person that you are, chuckled at his reply and pulled him by the hand to a nearby bed of ones, different kinds of them scattered across the display pots, "There are many more to choose from, but given the date, I'm assuming you're giving it to someone. This plant box has the finest flowers we have for the occasion today so choose till your heart's content!" you said, leaving him dumbfounded. His heart was fluttering inside of his chest. He didn't take notice of the flowers, oh no. His mind no longer remembered why he was here in the first place as all the man could ever think of was how nice your hand felt against his. 'Is this you having a crush on someone?' Patri teased, causing him to shake his head at the thought. Deeply sighing to himself, he clasped both of his hands behind his back and went around the shop. The variety of plants in the place was remarkable. No other place in Clover had these very kinds of flora's and greenery, and he wanted to commend you, or whoever the gardener was for the clear dedication placed into the place. The only problem is that he was unsure how to approach you. He believed that anyone would find it absolutely ridiculous that the William Vangeance, a captain who has fought with strong, zealously dangerous enemies on the battlefield, someone who has laid his life on the table during missions, is now frantically sweating because he couldn't muster up the courage to talk to a florist. A beautiful one, at that. "Can't find anything?" William jumped in place, nearly knocking over the plants near him if it weren't for your effort to hold onto his wrist. You pulled him up, so he could get back to his balance, but the closer his face was to you, the more did it seem like he was losing his composure, "Oh, my. Are you alright, dear?" you questioned, making him even more flustered than he already is. He couldn't say a word as all he did was stare at your eyes and the way they seemed charmingly glossy against the flare of the sun's light. This greenhouse had its benefits for natural lighting, and it seemed like it was most advantageous on your end. If only you weren't so oblivious then you would've realized that his glazed eyes meant that he was fervently adoring your features up close, "Can't find anything pretty you want to bring home?"
  "You."
Your eyes widened at his statement, an unfamiliar heat spreading across your face, "U-uhm sir what was that?" you heard what he said, but just in case you were hearing things, you wanted him to repeat it.
"You-nique flowers are presently available here." he said as you agreed and began blabbering things about the other flowers.
The masked man bit his lip as he continued to stare lovingly at you. If anyone else were looking, they would've thought of him as a teenage boy having a crush for the first time, and in all honesty, he looked absolutely adorable.
"I'm starting up a garden of my own and I'm not entirely sure what to do first or the necessities that I need. Would you… be willing to help me?" he asked you, gulping as he awaited an answer.
For a moment you could've sworn that the tone of his voice seemed like it was pleading, but the amiable smile he plastered on his face tricked you into being deceived by his friendliness, "I would be delighted! Oh, really I am honored. People usually say I talk to much so I'd love to, dear." you said, clinging onto his arm as his breath hitched.
"Hmm, where should I begin?"
Patri, at this point, was already preparing himself for he knew that come by night, William would replay this scene in his mind. How could the captain not when the warmth and life you radiated was too contagious?
"Anywhere, my dearest." he replied, holding onto your hand that was wrapped around his with a smile that gave off his true intentions.
Now, he finally had an actual reason to start a garden.

Chapter 15: The Aftermath
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
- Stephen Chbosky
A small bird sang a sorrowful tune.
It was not unlike a dirge.
The sound of crying and sniffling filled the space. Someone coughed.
Even then, it was surprisingly peaceful. Like a dream: one didn’t want to disturb it, lest it would end.
Tani opened her eyes slowly. Her gaze fell from the ceiling to her side, where a group of people stood. She could see them around a bed. Their backs were slouched. Her gaze strayed from them slowly, towards the figure lying in the bed. A limp arm hung over the edge.
Death.
Tani was suddenly acutely aware that she was watching death. Something stirred in her memory. It came back in a rush, quite suddenly - a limp body embraced by vines, crushed, bruised, bloodied. She sat up quickly, making her head swirl. Her body groaned as she forced it to move. The barely healed skin stretched, the bandaged and supported shoulder refused to budge. Still, Tani threw her legs off the side of the bed and tried to see who lay next to her. She peeked desperately between the bodies of unfamiliar people to see an unfamiliar face. Her heart didn’t stop pounding heavily despite her relief. It was no one she knew. It was an older woman, with a peaceful blankness on her face. Tani held her head. The sudden rise had made her dizzy again. Her heartbeat drummed in her ears. Her mind felt muddled, enough to make her want to close her eyes. Amidst the swirling of her head, she could hear rapidly approaching footsteps. Tani raised her gaze to see a man wearing a white uniform. His face looked friendly, but unfamiliar.
“Please, miss, lie down still,” he asked, but his tone was commanding.
As Tani simply stared at him, he gently pushed her back to lie down and made sure the pillows were well underneath her head. The softness of the bed felt like it might swallow her.
“Please excuse me,” the man, possibly a nurse, continued with a kind voice. “I will do a small check-up on you before informing the doctor that you’ve awakened. Please lie still.”
Tani watched as his grimoire flew open and blue-and-red threads emerged from it. She stayed still, swallowing slightly. Her throat felt dry.
“Any trouble with breathing?” she heard the nurse ask.
Tani considered the question for a moment before shaking her head.
“Where am I?” she questioned, finally finding time to ask.
“Ah. Let us see. What is the last thing you remember?”
“I was on a mission.”
“Very good. Anything else?”
Tani watched as the nurse pulled a notebook of some kind - a folder? - something which he seemed to inspect. The magical threads were still moving around her, hovering above her skin without touching.
“We went to receive an artifact. One of my team members got hurt very badly. Is he alive?”
“Good. I can find out his condition for you in a few minutes, but I need his name.”
Luka Diffidus.”
The nurse nodded. Tani wondered if he knew who she was talking about or not. It was difficult to tell.
“There was also Mereoleona--Lady Mereoleona Vermillion. And Icree Papillo.”
The nurse nodded once more. He made a note and seemingly examined the threads that had moved around Tani all this time.
“First of all, you are in the Kikka Main Hospital. I’m sorry about the accommodations, we don’t have much space at the moment. You are still slightly dehydrated. Please take it easy. I’ll bring you something to drink, and the doctor should visit you soon. Do not move from the bed. After the doctor has talked with you, I’ll bring you news of your team, alright?”
Tani mumbled affirmatively. She was in medical care again. At least it was at home. She knew the street she should be on. If she had a window nearby, she would have maybe recognized it. Tani closed her eyes. Her shoulder hurt quite a bit. She had seen that it was bandaged - like most of her body - again. She wasn’t even wearing her own clothes. After a short time, the nurse brought her a drink that didn’t taste exactly like water, but he made sure she drank it. Tani wished he didn’t monitor her so. Nonetheless, the nurse left eventually and the doctor appeared by her side instead. Tani was rather tired. It took all that she had to listen to the doctor explain her condition. The shoulder was very bad, but would heal eventually - something about pain medication - hydration - extensive burns - some questions about how she was feeling - tired, she answered. Tired. She wanted to know about Luka. The doctor’s answer was noncommittal. It was only when the nurse came back that Tani learnt that Luka had been transferred to Tota Hospital due to his critical condition. The doctors were taking good care of him, the nurse assured. It was a very well-known hospital in the Noble Realm. As for the other two names Tani had given, neither of them had been checked in. He had however found out that those were the names of the two people that brought Tani and Luka into the medical care. She thanked him with a weak voice, and finally succumbed to sleep.
The next few times that Tani woke up, she paid more attention to the nurse. He was a freckled man with extremely curly, dark hair and impossibly long lashes. His smile was easy and friendly, and everytime he visited, he was very considerate, resolute and caring. She didn’t think she knew him, but Kikka was a large town. Tani hadn’t had to visit the clinic too often in her own time. It was a strange thought to get stuck on. Perhaps she paid attention to him, because there was no one else that wasn’t sick or wounded. He was alive and vibrant in the midst of all the gloom, and she needed that. She needed someone who knew what was going to happen and was realistic about the situation. So it came that on the early morning of the next day, having a rather more clear head, Tani decided to ask a favour from him.
“Would it be possible to send some letters?” she asked.
He smiled kindly.
“I will bring you paper and ink. Mind you, you’ll need to be patient. I’ve got other patients to see.”
“Thank you. I just want to inform my family of what has happened.”
The nurse looked understanding. As he was turning away, Tani stopped him once more awkwardly.
“I’m sorry, I don’t think I ever caught your name?”
“You may call me Kanshi,” the man said, turning his head briefly to nod at her.
Tani watched as he hurried away. She was certain she had never heard the name before. That mystery had been solved. Later on, as she acquired the writing supplies, she wrote a short letter to her parents explaining the circumstances and where she was. On another paper, she wrote a letter to Icree, asking her to come visit and to bring her a change of clothes. It was only a day later that the red-haired woman stood in front of her, slightly out of breath. It was a quiet day in the room - not a lot of visitors. There was a gleam in Icree’s eyes as she held tightly to Tani’s hand by her sickbed. The barrage of questions was steady and unrelenting. Icree’s voice was barely contained to normal levels.
“How are you? Oh, please be alright. When will you get out? Do you need me to go talk to your family? Will you--”
“Icree, Icree, please,” Tani stopped her with a slight laugh. “One at a time. Let’s see here. They are monitoring me, but I should be discharged within a week. The shoulder will require an extensive period of healing, but I can continue that at home. They told me not to take a mission for a month or two. Kanshi - the nurse - promised to give me some stretches to do when the shoulder is better.”
Icree’s shoulders relaxed a little as she looked at Tani. They smiled at each other a little apologetically. Tani continued a little softer.
“I’ve sent a letter to my family. They haven’t answered yet, but if I know them, they’ll come visit as soon as they are able to. Thank you, by the way. For taking me to Kikka. It’s easier for my family to visit.”
“We were in a hurry to get you and Luka treated. The whole thing came down, you know,” Icree said, shaking her head.
Her smile vanished as she was thinking back.
“You probably don’t know. Do you want me to tell you what happened in the end?”
Tani looked at her slightly sorrowful face and hesitated.
“Tell me first about Luka. Have you visited him?” she asked.
“Yes. I’ve been by his side most of my time. He hasn’t woken up yet. They didn’t have to amputate anything in the end, but he broke a lot of bones and had some internal bleeding. They say that his body is simply forcing him to rest. I’m--well--they say he’ll be fine. They said we made it in time. We took you first into the nearest doctor. She performed first aid and then we whisked you away to Kikka for better treatment. They transferred Luka almost immediately.”
Tani nodded, closing her eyes for a brief moment. Luka would be fine. In her heart, she wouldn’t be able to accept it until she’d see him moving again. She hoped that by the time that she was discharged, he would have woken up already.
“So, what happened to the dungeon? Did you get the artifact?” Tani questioned, trying to distract herself from the thought. “What happened to the raskonik?”
“Lady Vermillion burnt through it pretty fiercely. When it hit you, it kind of - well, froze. Lady Vermillion used that moment to quite violently wrench the ring out of its body.”
“Did it - did it die?”
Tani wasn’t sure why the thought made her sad. It would be logical to wish for the creature to be dead. She didn’t.
“I don’t know,” Icree confessed. “I was panicking. You and Luka lied in puddles of blood.”
Her voice shivered a little.
“When Lady Vermillion took out the ring, the creature - no, the whole dungeon screeched. Everything trembled around us. We took the hint. Lady Vermillion grabbed you and I took Luka. We booked it out. Last thing I saw of that creature was when it was lying on the ground, on fire, its eyes still on you.”
“What about her? Is she also in a hospital somewhere?” Tani asked perhaps a little suddenly.
“Her?”
“Mereoleona. Lady Vermillion.”
“No, not as far as I’ve heard. She said that she knew someone who could take care of her, someone in the Royal Capital. She nearly dragged you there as well. Honestly, I think she meant the King’s doctor.”
Tani smiled widely. The thought felt warm in her chest. Mereoleona had nearly dragged her to someone that important? It would’ve been absolutely embarrassing for Tani, but the thought was very sweet. It was very - well, she didn’t know the proper word. Very caring. She sighed and shook her head.
“The mission is done, right?” she questioned carefully.
“Yes. I’ve handled the paperwork and everything. You don’t have to worry about anything other than getting better. I’ll come visit you again--?”
Tani shook her head, ending the other woman’s sentence short.
“It’s alright, Icree. Stay with Luka. I have my family here and I’ll get out soon,” she explained, trying to alleviate all the things Icree felt like she had to do.
There was a slightly doubtful look in Icree’s eyes.
“If you want to do something for me, get Lady Vermillion to come down here in a week,” Tani laughed a little. “I need to talk to her.”
The doubt turned into a playful curiosity as Icree grinned.
“Do you now?” she teased while settling to sit more comfortably. “I’ll arrange it if you tell me what’s going on between you two.”
“Fairly little,” Tani confessed. “But I want to make sure we are on the same page.”
Icree looked at her meaningfully.
“Stop it!” Tani said with a faint warmth rising to her cheeks.
Still, seeing Icree cheer up a little made her feel happy. If gossiping about her crushes and love life made Icree think of something else than her wounded friends, it was worth it.
“I like her a lot, but we also argued a lot down there. We were mean to each other. I need to apologize for that. I was needlessly pointy.”
“You were in a tense situation. I know how you get when you are tired,” Icree commented.
“It doesn’t excuse it. I do want her to apologize to me too!” Tani pointed out. “She hurt me a great deal, and--and I want to thank her. Not for hurting - I mean - for helping. And I want to figure out where we are going.”
Icree nodded sagely, a twinkle in her eyes.
They talked briefly of other things - of repairing the squad capes, taking care of Tani’s plants, of Kliodna and Fragil and the other members of Azure Deer. Normality returned to Tani for that short moment. She felt like she could get up and walk out with Icree. When Kanshi came to take her guest away, however, tiredness took over. Too much excitement exhausted her. Luckily all that Kanshi made her take that night were painkillers to help her sleep and that strange tasting water. Kanshi had already explained once that it was to help her stay hydrated.
The days passed relatively quickly for Tani. Her family came to visit her on most days, either together or alone. They brought her flowers and books and made sure she was comfortable. Tani felt herself lucky to have such a caring family. They offered to come take her home after her discharge, but Tani insisted on going back to the headquarters. The last thing she wanted was to lie in a different bed as everyone else was working hard around her. At the headquarters at least someone would be lazying about, and she could be with her plants. As Tani stepped out of the hospital, her own clothes on and a bag of her things on one hand - the other being back in a sling -, she noticed a familiar figure on the street. She would recognize that orange-red hair anywhere. Bright blue eyes stared straight at her with a fed up expression. One tooth poked out of the woman’s mouth.
“Hey,” Mereoleona Vermillion greeted, immediately walking up to her.
Tani smiled, feeling a rush of happiness go straight to her cheeks.
“Hey,” she answered softly.
She wanted nothing more than to embrace the woman in front of her. It was too bad that it was a busy street in the middle of the town and that the said woman was a noble through and through. A first-born of a royal family. A commoner like Tani -
“Give me your bag,” Mereoleona commanded, cutting out her thoughts.
Tani gave her a curious glance.
“Did you come all this way to take me home?” she asked with a slight teasing note in her voice.
Mereoleona looked at her for a brief moment in silence, then nodded.
“I was told you had things to say to me. Might as well help you home.”
Tani smiled at her, accepting the explanation. It made her a little nervous. They flew to the headquarters in relative silence, Tani holding one hand around Mereoleona’s waist. If she pressed her head slightly against that strong back, she could smell earthy, reassuring scent and feel the muscles tense underneath. When they were back on the ground, Tani realized that they had landed in the woods near the headquarters rather than in the courtyard. She looked questioningly at Mereoleona.
“I thought the fresh air would do you good,” the woman said with a slight glance to the trees. “Walking is a good exercise after lying in bed for a week.”
“Thank you, Mereoleona,” Tani answered gratefully.
She didn’t hesitate to continue this time. She knew what she wanted to say.
“I’m sorry for being horrible to you in the dungeon. If you’ll let me explain - I think I can explain it to you.”
Mereoleona raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything. Tani took it as permission to continue.
“You might’ve noticed that I don’t hold nobles in high regard. I’ve seen a lot of it growing up - those lesser in status than others being pushed down by those--well, nobles. People picking on those with less wealth just because they can get away with it. I need you to understand that I don’t -- no, that is a sidetrack.”
Tani sighed, looking down to the ground.
“I’m sorry that I judged you based on my experiences when it came to a dangerous situation. I really don’t think of you that way. I know you are a fair and kind person,” she said. “It came out wrong when I was down there, because I couldn’t admit my own limitations. So, I’m - I’m sorry.”
Tani raised her gaze to look Mereoleona in the eye as she said her apology. She believed that a proper apology should be done that way, if possible. She watched as Mereoleona considered her, changing her weight onto another leg.
“Apology accepted,” Mereoleona shrugged. “I really didn’t take it to heart, but if it’s important to you--”
“It is. I like you, Mereoleona. I didn’t mean to be so mean to you.”
“Thank you. I don’t think either of us was on the best behaviour there. Even if I didn’t realize the situation - I’m sorry that I also hurt you. The biggest reason for you getting hurt was me. I--I do admire your tenacity.”
Tani laughed a little to herself. What an awkward sentence. She smiled a little lopsidedly at Mereoleona.
“Well, that’s that then,” she said cheerfully. “I better get going.”
Mereoleona’s expression changed a little, and she opened her mouth as if to say something more. Tani could see her hesitate, then cross her arms and stay silent. It was a strange look on the otherwise confident woman. Tani walked closer to her, their eyes glued to each other. She opened one of her arms as if to invite a hug. Mereoleona didn’t stop for long to wonder, but instead embraced her carefully. Her strong arms felt very safe to Tani. The hug was short, but warm. For a brief moment as they were separating, they stopped with their faces close to each other. Tani’s heart beat wildly. She stopped breathing. Then, Mereoleona pulled away, and she followed suit.
“Thank you for coming,” Tani said still.
Mereoleona nodded.
So Tani began to walk away, looking at the familiar building behind the trees. The sun was shining brightly in the sky. The conversation felt a little too short, like she had forgotten all the things she had wanted to say. There was more, wasn’t there? At least she had said she liked Mereoleona. Though the other had never said it back. Yet there, when they hugged, she could have sworn there was something there. Tani stopped and turned suddenly. She looked at Mereoleona, still standing there, as if waiting.
“Hey Mereoleona, do you like me?”
A bird sang somewhere. A small smile tugged up on Mereoleona’s lips. She began walking towards Tani, closing the distance with each measured step. Tani had to look a bit up - that was how close she came. When she spoke, it was softly, yet her laugh was low.
“Fool. Have I not shown it?”
A slight blush rose to Tani’s face as an answer. Mereoleona took a hold of her hand carefully and leaned closer. Tani looked at her, wondering where it was going. She half-closed her eyes the closer Mereolena came, finally feeling lips grazing her cheek. They separated slowly, measuring each other, admiring each other’s smiles.
“I’ll see you later then?” Tani asked hopefully.
“My treat,” Mereoleona said with an affirming nod. “I know this great tavern in Kikka…”
Tani laughed, moving away from the half-embrace they had had.
“Well, until then,” she said happily, turning to leave for real this time.
Tani practically skipped the way to the headquarters, stopping only after she had closed the door to the entrance hall behind her. She had the urge to lean against it and sigh dramatically, feeling giddiness overtake her. Then her eyes fell onto the person standing right in front of her, a smug smile on the lips.
“Well, well,” Icree teased with a pleased tone.
Tani sighed. This would be trouble. Perhaps it was the type of trouble she liked, though.
She thought back to the strong way Mereoleona had held onto her, the slight softness in those bright eyes. She looked at Icree.
“Get something for us to snack on, and I’ll talk,” Tani said, matching her grin.
Icree let out a victorious cry and almost ran to the kitchen. Tani thought back onto everything that had happened. It almost didn’t feel real, but here they were.
She and a noble.
No, not a noble.
She and Mereoleona.
It was a nice beginning.

The Black Bull's Hideout
It felt like time stood still as everyone just stared at the small pile of bodies that lied in the center of the room. It was like everyone and everything was frozen. No one moved, no one breathed, and for a moment Yami swore he didn’t see anyone blink. Until finally he heard Charlotte speak softly behind him.
“ Hana, Brielle, Lovely, I need you to take the younger kids outside for a while, alright?” She asked her middle child softly, but Hana shook her head.
“ But big sis-!” Hana began, but her mother quickly shook her head.
“ Hikari will be alright, so please just take care of the others.” She told her, her voice still soft, but it held a firmness to it. Which Hana knew meant that she was serious. Hana, Lovely, and Brielle quickly looked at each other before they began to usher the younger children out of the room.
As soon as the younger children left the room, everyone seemed to be snapped back to reality. Each parent rushed towards their child. Panic, worry, and fear laced their voices, eyes, and faces as they each reached them.
“ I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry! I only got the vision a few hours ago, and when I did, I rushed over here as quickly as I could since my communication device wasn’t working!” Sterling told them, panic in her voice as she rushed over to them. But Josele quickly shook her head as she cupped her eldest child’s face gently.
“ It’s not your fault Sterling, you did well,” She told her softly, a tender smile on her face. “ Do you mind going outside with the younger kids? I’m worried they might get into a bit of trouble if left unsupervised.”
The red haired girl nodded slowly before doing as her mother asked and running out the same door that the younger kids did.
Meanwhile, Yami quickly knelt down and carefully cradled Hikari’s cool and limp body in his arms. Her dark hair was matted with blood, her clothes were torn, and her skin was deathly pale and cool to the touch…he couldn’t ever recall a time when she was so cold. But she was still breathing, it was shallow, but it was there and that was what mattered.
He slowly looked up, he could hear the screams and shouts of the Bulls as they urged their children to wake up. But it all sounded so muffled to him. It was like his head was underwater. He could see Gordon and Henry holding Wendy and Alice tightly in their arms, with Zora and Josele trying their best to aid the girls as Nacht issued various orders to his four devils.
He could see Gauche holding Aloys in his arms, and hear his muffled shouts as Grey tried to use her healing spell on him. His grey eyes slowly moved towards where Finral and Vanessa were kneeling. The Spatial mage seemed to be in shock as he held Ezio’s body, while Vanessa was doing her best to try to snap him out of his daze.
But what pulled Yami out of his daze was Secre, who rushed over to the pile.
“ Rune! Rune, what are you doing here?!” She shouted in shock as she picked up her 21-year-old son.
Rune was the adopted son of Secre. She had found him outside the Hideout when he was 11 years old, and at first she was going to take him to the orphanage in Kikka. But the longer she was around him, the more he reminded her of Lumiere, both in appearance and in personality…and in the end she just couldn’t give him up. When he got his grimoire, he decided instead of becoming a Magic Knight, he was going to travel all around the world and see everything it had to offer. Secre was a little saddened, but still supported his decision.
But when everyone had heard from him two days ago, he was supposedly still in the Diamond Kingdom…so how on earth did he get from there to Hage village?!
Yami shook his head, that wasn’t important right now, right now they needed to get all of their kids to Owen!
“ Finral!” Yami shouted as loud as possible, making the other man blink and jump in surprise. “ Snap out of it and open a portal to the infirmary!” He instructed, and Finral quickly nodded.
He handed Ezio to Vanessa and Magna before he stood up, and with a trembling hand he quickly opened a portal large enough for everyone to fit through.
“ A-Alright! It’s open!” Finral shouted, his voice shaking almost as bad as his body was. But Yami only nodded before looking at everyone.
“ Josele, Zora, you two help Henry and Gordon take Alice and Wendy through the portal first since they seem to be in the worst shape! Vanessa, Gauche, then you two take Aloys and Ezio through. Nacht, you help Secre with Rune. Charlotte and I will be right behind you with Hikari!” Yami ordered, his voice calm and steady, despite feeling nervous and uneasy on the inside.
One by one, each Bull nodded. With Zora and Josele’s help, Gordon and Henry picked up Wendy and Alice and carried them through first. Then Gauche, Grey, Vanessa, and Secre received help from Luck, Charmy, Nacht, and Magna with carrying their sons. Finally, Yami, Finral, and Charlotte all quickly walked through the portal as well. Hoping beyond hope that Ezio had gotten the kids back to the Hideout in time.
When the group appeared at the infirmary at the Magic Knight Headquarters, they were greeted by Owen, who had a very surprised look on his face.
“ My gods! Cecil, get the other Healers in here quickly!” Owen had shouted over his shoulder, and his fifteen-year-old son quickly nodded before disappearing behind the double doors.
Soon, nearly a dozen Healers appeared before the Bulls. They quickly put the wounded onto stretchers and rushed them back behind the double doors, and when Hikari was placed onto the last stretcher, Yami looked up at Owen.
“ You better save them. All of them.” Yami growled, his tone serious and slightly threatening, but Owen didn’t even flinch.
“ I’m going to be blunt with you, Yami. They’re all gravely injured, so while we’ll do the best we can, if I were you, I would prepare for the worst…just in case.” Owen told him seriously, and as he and Cecil began to rush Hikari to the back, his eyes narrowed a bit.
Yami wouldn’t let go of Hikari’s hand.
“ Yami, if we don’t treat her now, her injuries will only get worse. So please trust me, and let her go.” Owen told him softly, his voice full of understanding, but Yami still didn’t budge.
Not until he felt a gentle hand touch his shoulder.
“ Yami,” Charlotte began softly. Her voice was firm, but he could hear a slight shakiness to it. “ We have to let her go now. The sooner we do, the sooner we get her back. So please…let her go.” She pleaded, her voice growing softer and softer and trembling more and more as the words left her mouth.
Yami felt his heart clench in his chest, and reluctantly, he let go of Hikari’s hand and watched as Cecil and Owen wheel her back behind the double doors. Only when they disappeared and were out of sight did his legs buckle, and he fell to his knees. He could hear the worried shouts of his squad members and his wife, but he ignored them and just stared at the double doors in front of him.
No matter how hard he tried, his body wouldn’t stop trembling, from both fear and anger.

A few Hours Later, Infirmary at the Magic Knight Headquarters
Tick…Tock…Tick…Tock
The clock in the infirmary ticked as the Bulls silently waited in the infirmary halls for news of their children. Gauche was restless, so he paced back and forth down the hall, while Grey and Secre sat quietly in a chair beside Charmy and Josele, who was doing her best to comfort the woman. Meanwhile, Henry, Gordon, Finral, and Vanessa were both being comforted by Luck, Zora, and Magna. Further down the hall sat Yami, Charlotte, and Nacht.
What on earth happened out there? They were just supposed to be facing off against regular bandits, which they had done many times before, so how did they end up like this?
Yami ran a hand over his tired face as the memory disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. It didn’t make sense. Hikari and the other brats were all very skilled Magic Knights, and were more than capable of handling bandits on their own…unless…
Everyone jumped as they suddenly heard the door on the other side of the room slam open, their heads instantly turned, and their eyes widened as they saw Asta and Noelle standing there.
The two were slightly out of breath and their cheeks were red, proof that they had rushed to the infirmary. Their faces and eyes were filled with worry as they stared at their friend's troubled faces.
“ We came as soon as we heard!” Asta said as Noelle nodded in agreement.
“ How did you two find out so quickly?” Nacht asked with a bit of a frown.
“ I went to the Hideout to drop off Kaiyo, and I was stopped by Gimodelo. He said he and the other Bremen devils were tasked with protecting the area until you all returned, but eventually he let me through and Sterling told me everything that happened.” She explained, and the others nodded slowly.
“ Then Noelle called me with the communication device, and now we’re both here.” Asta said, and he watched as Yami sighed and shook his head.
“ You shouldn’t be here, brat, you have more important places to be right now.” He told him seriously, but the younger man shook his head.
“ It can wait. Vangeance said he would inform the other Captain’s and cancel the meeting and push everything back until tomorrow.” Asta explained. “ He also wanted me to tell you that he would come by at the end of the day.” He added with a small smile.
“ Have… you guys heard anything yet?” Noelle asked hesitantly, but Charlotte quickly shook her head.
“ No, nothing yet.”
“ That’s good, though, right? Don’t they say no news is good news?” Gauche scoffed at Noelle’s hopeful words as he suddenly stopped pacing.
“ Whoever came up with that line of crap wasn’t a parent,” He spat, his voice full of anger as he looked at her. “ Getting no news isn’t good. It’s pure torture, and I can’t take it anymore.” He added as he suddenly spun on his heel and began walking towards the double doors, but Nacht instantly stepped in front of him.
“ If you go in there right now, it’ll cause your son more harm than good,” Nacht began, his tone firm and serious. “ So if I were you, I would wait-.”
Gauche quickly cut him off.
“ ‘Wait’? Ha! That’s easy for you to say, since none of your kids were on that mission, and you’ve got nothing to worry about,” Gauche began angrily. “ Hell, despite their friends being in the squad, your brats hardly involve themselves in the Black Bulls!” Gauche continued, his voice growing louder as he grabbed the front of Nacht’s shirt roughly and glared at the older man.
“ Speaking of, why didn’t Sterling see this coming? Isn’t she supposed to know things hours, if not days, in advance? So why the hell didn’t she warn us about this sooner!”
“ It’s not exactly Sterling's job to keep tabs on your kids and their futures! Besides, it’d be too much of a strain on her to see the future of a whole group of people,” Nacht told him in an icy yet calm tone. “ And even if she could do that, it’s not like the future is set in stone.”
Gauche growled, “ So I’m just supposed to accept that my son got messed up and there’s nothing I could’ve done to stop it?!”
“ I think you will have to accept it, Mr. Adlai,” Nacht responded. “ Because whatever harmed the kids is done and in the past. It can’t be changed. It can only be dealt with in the present.”
Gauche shook his head, he didn’t want to hear it!
“ Shut up,” He muttered under his breath, his grip on Nacht’s shirt tightening. “ Just shut up you bastard!” He repeated, his voice having grown loud and angry suddenly.
As Yami and some of the other Bulls stood and began to walk over to the two, they all paused as they heard a door squeak open. Everyone in the hallway slowly turned towards the sound, and they saw Owen standing there.
And the look on his face sent everyone's hearts straight to their stomachs.
————
The Crimson Lions Base
Loud bangs and bright flashes of light could be seen and heard throughout the training area of the Crimson Lion Kings base. Some thought maybe it was Lord Fuegoleon and Lord Leo dueling, or that maybe Lady Mereoleona and Lady Elenora were causing havoc and mischief as they trained together.
But instead, it was Lord Leonidas and Lord Alistar Vangeance from the Golden Dawn training together.
Servants, and Crimson Lion members alike, stopped what they were doing to watch the two young men go back and forth. They cheered, they gasped, and the women in the crowd squealed as the sparring session continued on.
Until finally Alistar conceded defeat to Leon, making everyone roar and cheer loudly with pride at the Lion Prince’s victory!
“ You know, our sparring sessions usually end in a draw,” Leon panted a bit as he walked over to where his friend was kneeling. “ So either you were going easy on me, or you’re distracted.” He added as he held out a hand towards his friend.
“ I totally went easy on you,” Alistar responded with a cheeky grin. “ It wouldn’t be right if I kicked your butt in your own base and in front of your entire squad.” He added as he took his friend's outstretched hand.
The young Vermillion pulled his friend to his feet with a small laugh and shake of his head.
“ So, shall we discuss what has you so distracted over a glass of water here? Or would you prefer a cup of tea in my mother's private garden?” Leon asked, emphasizing the word ‘private’ as he felt some lingering eyes from a few of the ladies staring at them.
“ Umm…I think a cup of tea in your mother's private garden would be perfect.” Alistar said as his face grew red. He could feel the women’s eyes on his back, and hear their voices and their giggles float towards him.
Leon nodded and began to lead his friend towards the garden.
The two sighed as they practically flopped down onto one of the stone benches that sat under the large tree in Solara’s garden. Both took a deep breath and sighed softly as the cool breeze washed over them.
“ So, are you planning on waiting until our tea gets here to tell me what’s wrong? Or will you tell me now?” Leon asked, and he almost chuckled when he heard Alistar heave another heavy sigh.
“ Geez, you’re almost as pushy as Hikari,” Alistar muttered before he rubbed the back of his head as Leon chuckled. “ Anyway, It’s just…something feels off today.”
“ What do you mean?” Leon asked curiously as he looked up from the porcelain cup in his hand.
“ Well, last night, my father told us that we would have an emergency Captain’s meeting because Captain Yami and Vice-Captain Nacht found some information on Cerberus.” Alistar began as he stared into the depths of the amber liquid that rested in his cup. “ But then, when I was about to go to the Headquarters, my father called again and said that something urgent had come up and that the meeting had been postponed until tomorrow.”
“ Maybe Captain Yami and Vice-Captain Nacht found more information? Or maybe Hikari and the others did while they were in Hage?” Leon suggested after humming in thought.
It wasn’t unusual for Captain’s meetings to be delayed. Sometimes it was due to schedule conflicts, and sometimes it was because Asta was either behind in his paperwork or because he had run off in search of new magic or adventure.
“ I doubt it,” Alistar said with a soft sigh. “ The mission Hikari’s on doesn’t have anything to do with Cerberus…” He trailed off softly, a frown suddenly forming on his face.
No…surely that wasn’t-.
“ Alistar!” A panicked shout suddenly echoed through the garden, Leon and Alistar both turned to see Phoebe Luftair running towards them.
“ Phoebe? What’s going on?” Leon asked as he and Alistar both quickly stood.
“ You…You need to go to the infirmary at Headquarters!” She panted as she tried to catch her breath and talk at the same time, Alistar and Leon glanced at one another before looking back at Phoebe.
“ What are you talking about? What’s going on?” Alistar asked, his tone serious, but it held a worriedness to it.
Leon stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on Phoebe’s shoulder.
“ Just take a deep breath, and tell us what happened.” He urged softly, but his voice was as serious as Alistar’s. Phoebe did as her friend said and took a deep breath.
“ It’s Hikari. She and the Black Bulls were seriously injured during their mission, and it…it doesn’t look good,” Phoebe said, her grey eyes staring into his blue ones to help convey the seriousness of the situation. “ You need to go. Now.”
Alistar felt his heart sink, and a cold sweat suddenly appeared on his skin. He could see Leon’s lips moving, but he couldn’t hear a single word he was saying, because his voice was being drowned out by the loud and anxious beating of his heart.
With a slow nod, he quickly used his plant magic to create a broom out of various vines, and flew towards the Headquarters infirmary.
—------
Back at the Infirmary
As Alistar rushed down the halls of the Magic Knight Headquarters, multiple thoughts and scenarios ran through his mind. Thoughts such as how could this have happened? How injured was Hikari and the others? Who had done this?
Obviously Cerberus was involved, but just how involved were they? Did they send a group up to Hage for the sole reason of attacking the Bulls? Were they already there to begin with? Alistar quickly shook his head, now wasn’t the time to be worried about that. Right now, he had something more important that he was worried about;
Hikari.
‘ Please let her be okay. Please let her be okay!’ He frantically thought as he grew closer and closer to the doors that led to the infirmary.
Until he finally rounded one last corner and saw the big wooden door that had the sign ‘Magic Knight Infirmary’ above it.
Alistar slowly walked up to it, his breathing labored, his heart still drumming loudly in ears. What would he see on the other side, he wondered as he slowly reached out towards the door.
His hand paused in mid-air. He hadn’t realized it until now, but his hand was shaking, no, his entire body was shaking. He quickly pulled his hand back and took a deep, calming breath.
‘ She’ll be okay, so just calm down, she’ll be okay.’
With that thought in mind, he reached out again and placed his hand on the doorknob and slowly pulled it open.
As soon as Alistar pulled the door open, he heard Owen’s voice.
“ Hikari, Aloys, Ezio, and Rune are all okay. But they all suffered from major injuries and electrical burns,” Owen began as he looked at everyone. “ Rune lost his left arm, Aloys had a gash across his abdomen along with a stab wound to the shoulder, Ezio was the least injured out of all the children. He had a more serious wound across his chest along with some minor ones across his arms and hands, but otherwise he was alright, and Hikari…” Alistar inhaled sharply.
“ Hikari had the most injuries. She had a bunch of minor cuts across her face, arms, and legs. She had a serious gash across her back, and a major stab wound to her chest. But despite that, they’re all alive.” Owen concluded, and a collective sigh of relief escaped from the Bulls and Alistar.
They were injured, but they were alive. Hikari was alive, and that was what mattered. Except…
“ What about Alice and Wendy? How are they?” Henry asked, his normally slow speech seeming to pick up a bit of speed.
Owen’s face suddenly became regretful, and his eyes grew sad as he looked at Henry and Gordon directly.
“ I’m sorry…but they’re gone.”
Owen’s soft voice seemed to boom loudly in the quiet waiting area. No one moved, no one even seemed to breathe…until finally a choked voice asked.
“ I don’t understand…what do you mean they’re gone?” Gordon asked, his normally quiet voice also seemed to boom loudly in the quiet space.
“ I mean…Wendy Agrippa and Alice Legolant didn’t make it,” Owen repeated, his voice gentle as he looked at Gordon and Henry. “ Their injuries were just too great. We did everything we could…” Owen continued, although he knew deep down that his words would give no comfort to them.
The room fell silent as everyone stood there in shock. Alice and Wendy…were gone?
Alistar watched sadly as the Adlai’s comforted Gordon, and Henry crouched down with Josele and Nacht at his side. The others also began to comfort them, as well as each other.
The girls weren’t only Henry and Gordon’s kids, they were also family to the other Black Bulls as well.
Alistar suddenly felt a pair of eyes staring at him, and when he glanced up he saw it was Captain Yami who was staring at him.
“ Give us a bit, will ya brat?” His eyes told the younger man, and Alistar quickly nodded and quietly backed out of the room.
As soon as he closed the door, he could hear loud, painful cries and sobs begin on the other side…

Hello Niu, I know that you love Billy Idol very much (me too!) I'd like to ask what are your other favourite musicians/bands etc?
Yay a fellow fan!
To be honest I’m this strange person where I’m extremely picky with my music but then I can listen to pretty much any genre if the song’s for my liking. Majority of my “favorites” mean that the band/artist has a few songs that I like and that’s a lot lol. So mainly, I randomly listen a song from this band, a few from this artist, some here, two there, three from this, one from that. Only genres I avoid are reggae, hip hop and rap, those irk me a lot.
For genres I like: rock, street punk, city pop, 80′s, high energy, new retro wave, trance, jazz, big band jazz, swing, blues, sometimes eurodisco, death metal, metal, tango.
Billy Idol is A HUGE exception but the trick is that I don’t just listen to his music but his energy/aura which carries in his voice when he sings. So instead of basking into the greatness of his music, I also bask in his natural energy. I don’t know why he’s the only one whose energy carries over like this to me (though this happens with some voice actors!)
Anyway! There are some artists that have 5-> songs that I like, which is a lot for me to like:
Divine (the drag queen from the 80′s)
Charged G.B.H
Modern Talking
Eisbrecher
E-Rotic
Kikka (Finnish artist I grew up with)
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Berzerker
Randomly soundtracks from games and anime
Droid Bishop
Rob Zombie
Ajattara
(Special shout out to Suwabe Junichi, while he’s a voice actor who sometimes sings. If you know any more of his CDs/songs, tell me)
Lately I have been enjoying a lot listening to KISS, which is like, eh, didn’t see that coming! Also Gunther is super fun, I can’t listen the songs without grinning so I guess he counts, too? I love when people do serious stuff with utter silliness, or silly stuff with utter seriousness.
I can’t list every artist/band I listen just for a few songs because it would be an endless void lol. They range from Marilyn Manson to Samira Said, and from Japanese 80′s pop to Indonesian death metal. I have my fave songs over the past 10+ years tagged to my blog as tagged/music so check those out :3
For me, music has no other meaning than helping me to concentrate when I draw or write, and closing the space around me when I travel or walk among people.
