Asian Readathon TBR | May 2023 TBR
My May TBR is here! Check out my reading plans!
It’s my birthday month! As with every May, I’m crossing my fingers and trying to curate a May TBR that has the highest likelihood of success so I can enjoy all/most of my reading this month! I have other books I’m planning on reading this month, but because of a couple real life things going on (I’m starting a new position!) I’m going easy on myself and just fovusing on my Asian Readathon…

Just One More Page Book Photo Challenge
May 2022 Day 1: TBR This Month
Once Upon An Eid
Four Aunties And A Wedding by Jesse Q Sutano
Tiger Honor by Yoon Ha Lee
Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
Shadow Life by Hiromi Goto
For the month of May, I am doing the Asian Readathon! Most of this stack are the books I picked for the challenges (plus a sequel). I decided that even after I finish this stack, I’ll stick with Asian authors for the rest of the month.
I think out of this stack, I’m most excited about Once Upon An Eid.

✨ Asian Readathon ✨
Are you going to participate in the Asian Readathon next month?
I always see this readathon on social media but I've never participated. Because of the whole quarentine situation, I thought it would be fun to join in this year. The principle of it is that you follow the prompts and only read books by Asian authors for the month.
I'm hoping May is the month that I finally read some of Haruki Murakami's works. There's also a Readalong and Watchalong for Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I haven't read this before but it's been on my TBR for a long time. I'm super excited to finally get to it! 🥰
I'm not sure what my TBR is just yet, but when I've finally decided on some books I'll post it!

Look, the little robot wants to read too 😂 Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 is a support women #asianreadathon bonus. Female writer, Asian, Korean to be specific, lesbian translator. It depicts the struggles of everyday women, who grapple with the pressures of motherhood, the lost of self, torn between career ambition and societal expectation of mothers being primary caregiver, the under appreciation of their sacrifices, the isolation and loneliness that accompanies it. Also, this is a make up free shot, no edits to my face. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAW1AnLHMHz/?igshid=1hv6ks6ocsgdg

He⁣⁣ •Wicked Fox, Kat Cho⁣⁣ •Wicked as You Wish, Rin Chupeco⁣⁣ •Cinder, Marissa Meyer (@editorarocco)⁣⁣ •As Extraordinárias Cores Do Amanhã, Emily X.R. Pan (@universodoslivros)⁣⁣ •Aru Shah and The Song of Death, Roshani Chokshi⁣⁣ •Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes, Roshani Chokshi⁣⁣ •Shadow of The Fox, Julie Kagawa⁣⁣ •Soul of The Sword, Julie Kagawa⁣⁣ •Night of the Dragon, Julie Kagawa⁣⁣ •When Dimple Met Rishi, Sandhya Menon⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Os desafios são:⁣⁣ 1) ler um livro escrito por um(a) autor(a) asiático⁣⁣ 2) ler um livro com um personagem asiático ou escrito por um autor que você se identifica.

Read a book featuring an Asian character or written by an Asian author who is different from you.
Ex: If you’re straight you can read about a queer character; if you’re Japanese you can read a book by a Vietnamese author; etc.
Read a book recommended by an Asian.
Ex: Watch an Asian booktuber’s recommendations video; find books recced by an Asian blogger; ask your Asian friend what book best represents them; have an Asian friend choose between 2 books on your TBR; etc.
OPTIONAL: Read “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng and participate in the #LittleFiresReadalong and #LittleFiresWatchalong (more information below)
Remember, as stated on the readathon’s info sheet: “These challenges can be personalized to you—make it as easy or as complex as you want.” Hope you all enjoy. Until next time, take care!

May 23rd, 2020 || another saturday, another currently reading update 😬 i hope you are not tired of these. regarding the #asianreadathon: 🌿i’m 200 pages from finishing A Fine Balance and i cannot tell you all how much i love this book. i almost don’t want it to end despite the fact that the narrative is both breaking and healing my heart at the same time. there is so much tragedy but also kindness. the title is very fitting. 🌿i have finished the first part of On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous and besides having a beautiful writing, i’m not too sure what to make of it yet. what the author is writing about is very traumatic but at the same time there is some sort of disconnection on my behalf. let’s see where it takes me. . 🌿i also started The Luminaries last night because the tv adaptation is coming out the 22nd of june in Spain. I’m only 43 pages in and so far, so good. nothing really to make up my mind yet. better get reading though, because it is an almost 850 pages mammoth. . hope you are having a good weekend wherever you are 😉 tell me below about your current reads! • • • #readingupdate #afinebalance #onearthwerebrieflygorgeous #asianwriters #theluminaries #rohintonmistry #oceanvuong #eleanorcatton #literaryfiction #fortheloveofbooks #fortheloveofreading #pileofbooks #bookstack #unitedbookstagram #mayreads #currentlyreading #saturdaybooks #bookloversunite https://www.instagram.com/p/CAh6h2FKfzq/?igshid=10w3fz8u57y0l
