Jurassic World Before The Storm - Meet the OCs
With seven days to go until Jurassic World Before The Storm is released here and on Wattpad and AO3, it's about high time you meet the OCs who drive the story forward.
There two perspectives to the fic; the humans' POV and the raptors' POV. Thankfully I have two human OCs and one hybrid dinosaur OC along with the canon characters to bring a fresh perspective. Technically there are three human POVs, however I will only list two protagonists down here.
First, human OCs below.
Name/s: Lisa and Joaquin Cobalt [all pronounced: Lee-suh + Jack-ah-win + Coh-bolt]
Species: Humans
Gender: Lisa is female while Joaquin is transitioning to male.
Age/s: Lisa is 21 while Joaquin is turning 10.
Skills: Lisa has knowledge on animal anatomy and diseases, most recently those of dinosaur origin. Perceptive to detail and observant. Extremely skilled with her hands, knows how to handle most tools, and knows how to pick locks. Does not know proper ways to defend herself beyond "punch for the face and hope for the best". Joaquin has extensive knowledge on dinosaurs (mostly of they are his current hyper fixation), but his meek and cautious nature stop him from being as open about it.
Description/s: Lisa Cobalt has long auburn hair, kempt and luxurious. Tidy even. Freckles scatter her chubby cheeks and small nose. She had a tall and plump form. With porcelain skin, it is not uncommon to see her without make-up. She has hazel eyes and usually wears professionally feminine attire. Joaquin meanwhile has brown eyes and hair, the latter of which is usually cut short and a mess. Casual and respectful clothing (under his foster sister's insistence), but long-sleeved and much suited for winter rather than the tropical weather of Isla Nublar (not that he does not have attire accustomed for the season). Has a scrawny figure, and dreads growth.
Affiliations: Lisa is a Jurassic World paleo-veterinarian, while Joaquin is loyal and dependent on his sister.
Backstory: Lisa was abandoned at the nearest orphanage at quite a young age and was never able to be adopted due to several problems regarding her temper, mood swings and track record of being a "troublesome child". She was turning 11 years old upon meeting Joaquin at a new orphanage, also abandoned but only an infant at the time. She aided the (rather neglectful) caretakers in taking care of him, and the caretakers thought it best to keep them together once Joaquin was 3 and Lisa was 14. They both developed a sibling bond of sorts. This bond isn't perfect though, as internal and external factors have interfered with their relationship, but Lisa and Joaquin are trying to mend this. When Lisa came of age, a court proceeding came in place, where she won guardianship over Joaquin. Lisa has been in-and-out of homes and jobs, trying to support herself and Joaquin, homeschooling him to the best of her ability. Thankfully, an opportunity from Jurassic World had presented itself, and Lisa found both a suitable living space and a job that put her skills to good use.
Extra: Lisa loves her brother, and Joaquin admires his sister. Neither know how to express it in a normal way though. Both have a deep respect for fauna.
And dino protagonist is below here.
Name: Indo (pronounced: In-doh)
Species: Indo-Rex (dinosaur hybrid, mainly Indominus and Scorpius Rex).
Gender: Male
Age: 5 (early mid-twenties in human years)
Abilities: Camouflage, heat vision (can detect heat), echolocation (with help of his spines/quills rattling together on his back and tapping his claws on the ground), physical strength, durable against bullets (for a little while at least, will be harmed by excessive use of bullets and especially explosives), good climber and stealthy, good sense of smell, and teeth and talons are dangerous. Unlike his Scorpius Rex relatives, his spines cannot act as a projectile and aren't poisonous. However, he is resistant to most poisons (on Earth) but is notably more fatigued as his body slowly flushes it out of his system.
Description: Indo is a hybrid combination between the Indominus Rex and the Scorpios Rex. Around 8 feet tall (when standing on two legs) at the moment (will grow to 13 later in life) but when on all fours is 7 feet tall. Length is around 8 or 9 meters long (I ain't the best at length so this might be inaccurate). Indo is a dark grey while his underbelly is a lighter grey. He has spines/quills that run down from the top of his head down to his tail. Five-fingered talons. Has old small scratches across his body. Can live up to around 70 years old (IDK what age that would be in human years).
Affiliation: The Cargo Sanctuary. Eventually the Raptor Squad.
Backstory: Indo was secretly created on Isla Nublar in 2010 by Henry Wu and a select few, funded by both InGen and the CEO of a military and robotics industry, who he only knows as "Carmine". Indo had siblings, but they either never hatched or were killed during experiments. Indo survived the abuse and experiments, however, did not produce the results Carmine apparently wanted, and ordered for Indo's termination. Indo escaped the private lab, and found freedom, where he was taken in by two defective genetic experiments, a Dilophosaurous named Phone and an orange Scottish LaPerm cat with a cybernetic implant (connected to his spine) named Diego, where they made haven in an old shot down and crashed Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, or the Cargo for short. Few years passed, and Indo, while out hunting, caught InGen's attention, where he has a fateful (and lucky) encounter with Owen Grady and the Raptor Squad.
Extra: Indo can crunch and eat bones. Hoskins is his least favourite human. Owen's somewhere in the middle while Barry is his favourite.

The Exorcists’ Masks of Virtue
The vast majority of Exorcists in Hazbin Hotel have a notable design element that other angels don’t: their masks are missing an eye. Specifically, the right eye.
I believe this is a reference to the Bible, Matthew 5:29. Jesus says, “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”
He’s being hyperbolic. Mr Free Healthcare was not pro-mutilation. What he means is that you have to be willing to make sacrifices to prevent sin. The context of the eye metaphor is him condemning adultery and warning that even something as easy, casual and small as a look full of lustful intent can lead to further, worse sin if you don’t notice your sin, hold yourself accountable for it and do the work to not let it influence your decisions. This will probably be hard. It could be very, very painful. Changing your perspective can feel as horrible as plucking out your eye, so many people can’t bring themselves to do it. But although it won’t feel that way in the moment, it’s healthier for our general wellbeing in the long run to abandon traits and behaviours that damage ourselves and/or others.
(You may notice that Jesus’s teaching that you can have sinned, redeem yourself by giving up sin and thus escape damnation is the founding principle of the Hazbin Hotel. You may also notice that it contradicts everything the Exorcists believe.)
The Exorcists seem to follow this idea of painfully excising badness for the sake of the greater good devoutly to the point of placing it above teachings like ‘Thou shalt not kill’, with their job being to remove sin, in the form of sinners, to protect Heaven. Hence the missing right eyes. They’re a declaration of moral righteousness and inability to stumble.
But the truth is that the Exorcists all have their right eyes. Their flawlessness is a facade. Underneath, they are untouched, think themselves morally untouchable and, as shown by their horror and outrage when even one of them is killed, would much rather be physically untouchable too. This perfectly represents their complete unwillingness to acknowledge their own faults, let alone improve. They are never the ones who sacrifice. They force the sinners to sacrifice and don’t compensate it with any salvation. They metaphorically rip out the sinners’ eyes, but still condemn their entire bodies as inherently, permanently sinful. So they’ll just have to do another Extermination to get the other eyes! And another one to cut off their right hands! And so on until there’s nothing left.
The only exception to the rule is Vaggie, both in appearance and character. Her mask has the left eye crossed out instead. Even before her expulsion, she’s set apart to the audience as an Exorcist who has the capacity to, shall we say, see a different side of things. Her mask having its ‘sinful’ right eye reflects her understanding that the Exorcist worldview is wrong.
When she almost kills a demon child, her hateful vision clears. She discards the part of herself that’s an unquestioning, merciless agent of death, terror and grief… and as punishment for what Lute perceives as treacherous weakness, gets her eye plucked out.
Of course Lute leaves her with only the ‘sinful’ eye. It brands Vaggie forever as the inversion, a perversion, of what the Exorcists are meant to be.
You know, all this talk of eye removal in the Bible reminds of another line - ‘an eye for an eye’. Adam directly quotes it in “Hell is Forever”. He uses it to frame the Exterminations as Old Testament-style punitive justice; the sinners did harm and so they receive it. But putting aside the debate about how ethical the concept of revenge is, the entire point of taking an eye for an eye is that it’s proportional. The punishment fits the crime. If someone cuts your eye out, you shouldn’t murder their whole family in front of them and then slowly disembowel them to death. That would be the sin of wrath. You should just make them pay without excessive pain or collateral damage. This is the fairest form of revenge.
The Exorcists don’t do that! The Exterminations aren’t proportional to the wrongs of all they hurt, nor was Vaggie’s brutal punishment equivalent to her extremely mild insubordination. Lute literally takes Vaggie’s eye, and more, after Vaggie does nothing to her! That’s the opposite of the phrase! Adam and his soldiers are wrathful and cruel, deriving satisfaction from others’ suffering. But they just can’t stop going on and on about how disgustingly evil the sinners are, in total hypocrisy… despite some of the sinners being far better people than the genocidal Exorcists are… it’s like they’re obsessed with specks of dust in the sinners’ eyes when they have massive logs stuck in their own. Oh hey, that’s in the Bible too!

DC x DP prompt #5
This is so dumb but Danny is Bruce's uncle.
And not in the Danny is old or whatever, no, my dude is 15 looks like he's 13 and when he was running away from home, he met this really really old lady which looked at him, looked at his wounds and went "aight I'm adopting u"
Danny thought she was a ghost and this was her obsession, so imagine his surprise when it turned out that not only this lady was alive, but also supposedly from very influential family??? Danny wasn't sure Abt that one, bc he himself never heard abt these "Waynes" like that just sounds weird, but hey. It made the lady happy so.
Anyway they part ways, bc the lady only wanted to adopt not care, and Danny decides, hey now that I have a new fam, maybe i should get to know them or something?
Well imagine his surprise when he found out some guy in his fifties is supposedly his nephew and has like bazillion kids.
Idk what happens next yada yada sheniganas happen and than Danny ends up in Gotham. And meets Bruce Wayne. Who obviously sees young child w si gns of abuse, black hair, blue eyes and is immidietly like "aight I'm adopting u" (like grandma like grandson huh)
Only this time, Danny is sure he isn't a ghost, and has a counter argument "u can't adopt me I'm ur uncle" and immidietly flees bc dealing w his problems isn't something he does.
Cue confused batfam or stuff idk, I'm so tired and this is just an excuse for crack
