I’ve been sick for a week with some rando virus I picked up taking care of Lila last week when she had it. She tested negative for Covid, Flu A and B and RSV and was feeling much better after 4 rough days.

It’s been a much worse experience for me and I’ve got a Telehealth visit in an hour to hopefully get antibiotics because it’s turned into a sinus infection and I have zero energy to get myself to urgent care. Or to walk the poor dog. Or make myself anything nutritious so I just DoorDash some Mediterranean food - Mujadara, veg soup, a grilled chicken salad, and a fresh carrot and apple juice. That all should get me through tomorrow and Lila will pick up the meds.

Being sick sucks. Grateful for patient clients but also thinking I should prolly consider going back to FT so I have PTO.

I won’t horrify you with what happened in the middle of the night two nights ago when the fever broke other than to say passing out on the toilet is no bueno. Being sick and alone is a special kind of hell.

It was 3am, your eyes shot open, you couldn’t sleep. You were sleeping at Kyle’s house since it was the weekend tomorrow, your parents agreed with your request but somehow you couldn’t sleep. Your eyes wandered around the dark room, it was a bit dark for your liking but Kyle refused to keep the lights on. You let out a sigh and turned to your side, feeling Kyle’s back on you. Your lips formed a smile as you thought of an idea, you scooted closer to Kyle, shaking him up. “Ky.. Ky? Are you asleep?” You asked, your voice in a hushed tone. Kyle groaned, he was a light sleeper so you knew he was already awake, he turned to face you. His eyebrows knitted together as he let out a dragged sigh, “I was” He grumbled, “Oh.. I– I didn’t know” You mumbled, a soft chuckle leaving your throat. He dragged another sigh, grunting as he scooted closer, an arm wrapping you. “Yeah, right, you didn’t know,” he muttered.

It was silent again, you sighed, “Ky? I can’t sleep” you spoke again, this time Kyle only groaned in response but soon he moved, pulling his arm away from you as he turned away, “well, I can” he mumbled, his lips letting out a soft sigh. “But Ky–” you protested but soon gave up, your eyes moved to the ceiling, counting sheeps in your mind, hoping it would make you sleepy. “Kyle.. do you think, aliens think that we are aliens?” you mumbled, suddenly you felt Kyle turn to you again, “Y/n seriously, what the hell are you talking about?” you hear the annoyance in his tone but it only made you let out a giggle. You liked getting under his skin, “I mean– like, you know, what if aliens think that we are the aliens when they see us” you let out a giggle as Kyle groaned at your idea. He was silent for a second, it felt like Kyle actually thought about your question but soon you heard a sigh, “Go to sleep, y/n” he mumbled, pulling the blanket up to your body. “I told you, I can’t sleep,” you grumbled. 

His arm pulled you closer to him, you felt his warmth next to you. Your lips let out a content sigh as you curled up next to him, “What do you want to talk about?” he asked, pressing a kiss onto your forehead, he knew that talks were the only ones that keeps you calm and relaxed at times like these. Your shoulders shrugged at his question as you thought for a bit, “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” you asked, looking up to his face, expecting him to say yes. He let out a chuckle at your question, thinking it was absurd and silly, “I– I probably would cut you in half” he answered honestly, to which you gasp dramatically, letting a light punch hit his chest. “I’m honest, you know if you cut a worm in half, you end up with two worms, I probably would try that on you” he chuckled, your eyes rolled at his response, unbelievable, you thought but it made you let out a chuckle too. “You’re unbelievable, Ky” you breathed, giggling as you shook your head. 

“What? Was I supposed to say, I still would love you?” he asked, a playful smile never left his lips. “Well.. yeah, duh” you murmured, he let out a scoff as he chuckled, “how would I love you if you were a worm?” he asked, entertaining your question to let the topic drag as much as you want. “I don’t know? Like, take care of me?” you huffed, rolling your eyes at his question, “Take care of you? Like keep you in a bottle with soil, don’t you think that’s kinda weird?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked down at you. You let out a huff and rolled your eyes once again, “Oh shut up, let’s move on from that” you wave your hand dismissively.

He let out a chuckle as you admitted defeat from your silly question, he pressed another kiss onto your forehead as he smiled, “you ready to sleep then?” he asked. You nodded, his arm snaked to your waist and pulled you closer to him so you could snuggle and feel his warmth, you let out a soft sigh in return, your arms wrapped around him. Your eyes closed as you tried to drift yourself to sleep, his breathing and body relaxed you and made you feel secured as well as safe. It was hard to not fall asleep whenever Kyle had his arm around you, after sometime, you start to let out soft snores.

I wrote this because it’s actually currently 3 am and I can not sleep >:( I did it on a whim so I didn’t like it...
