The Sweet Delight of Fruit Jelly: A Flavorful Journey.
When it comes to satisfying our sweet cravings, fruit jelly stands as a timeless treat that has been delighting taste buds for generations. Whether you're enjoying it as a spread on toast, a filling in a pastry, or simply spooning it straight from the jar, fruit jelly never fails to bring a burst of fruity goodness to your palate. At Mr. Mukhwas, we understand the joy of indulging in this sweet delight, and today, we'll explore the fascinating world of fruit jelly and its many delightful aspects.
Tumblr media
Brief History
Fruit jelly has a rich history that dates back centuries. Ancient civilizations, including the Egyptians and Romans, were known to preserve fruits in honey or other sweet substances, creating an early version of what we now know as fruit jelly. Over time, this culinary art form evolved, with techniques improving and flavors diversifying.
The Making of Fruit Jelly
Creating fruit jelly is a meticulous process that involves several key steps. Here's a simplified overview:
a). Fruit Selection: The journey begins with choosing ripe and flavorful fruits. Different fruits can be used to create various flavors of jelly, from classic grape and strawberry to exotic combinations like mango-peach or blackberry-lime.
b). Cooking: The fruits are simmered until they break down, releasing their natural juices and flavors. Sugar is added to sweeten the mixture.
c). Straining: The cooked fruit is then strained to remove any solids, leaving behind a smooth liquid.
d). Pectin Addition: Pectin, a natural gelling agent found in many fruits, is often added to the liquid to give it that signature jelly-like consistency.
e). Boiling: The mixture is boiled until it reaches the desired gel point, and the jelly is ready to be poured into jars.
Versatile Uses
One of the wonderful things about fruit jelly is its versatility. Here are some creative ways to enjoy it:
a). Breakfast Bliss: Spread fruit jelly on your morning toast, bagel, or croissant for a burst of fruity goodness to kickstart your day.
b). Pastry Perfection: Use fruit jelly as a filling for pastries, tarts, or donuts to add a sweet and tangy twist to your baked goods.
c). Glaze and Marinade: Fruit jelly can make a delightful glaze for roasted meats or a flavorful marinade for grilled chicken or pork.
d). Cheese Companion: Pair fruit jelly with a variety of cheeses for a delightful contrast of sweet and savory flavors.
e). Dessert Delights: Top off your desserts like ice cream, cheesecake, or yogurt with a spoonful of fruit jelly for an extra layer of flavor.
Health Benefits
Fruit jelly, when made with real fruit, can offer some health benefits too. It's a source of vitamins and antioxidants, and the natural sugars provide a quick energy boost. However, moderation is key as it can also be high in added sugars.

Quill, my lil guy. They're the farmer and an artisan, specializing in wine, cheese, pickles, jellies, and fabrics. They are head over heels in love with the lonely, handsome town doctor, John Harvey 🥹
The fic is written from Harvey's POV, so his perception of Quill is very much through rose-tinted glasses and a hesitant fascination.

Since ive been playing Stardew again, mainly thanks to Stardew Expanded, and have been on a Stardew kick in general:
How would the different villagers (base game, no mod villagers, with maybe the inclusion of Marlon, Gunther, Krobus and the dwarf maybe?) react to a cottagecore (actual) witch (wizard, spellcaster, whatever you wanna call this version of the farmer) who, while making artisan goods like jellies and mead, also makes potions and enchanted knick knacks that help people too?
Hewwo :D
As you can see, dear anon, I got rather... carried away with the question, so I apologize for the long reply. I hope you enjoy it, and thanks again for the ask! 💕
SDV townies react to the cottagecore wizard/witch!Farmer who, in addition to artisan goods, makes potions and enchants trinkets:
_________________________________________
Shane doesn't mind the home-brewed beer and hot peppers from the garden that the Farmer regularly treats him to, but doesn't need to be told about the trinkets and stinky herbal concoctions and other weird stuff. The chicken lover doesn't believe in that (even though he's facing a real wizard/witch), and he has pills for his hangover.
No matter how hard Marlon tried to talk the Farmer out of it and explain that they didn't owe him anything for his help (a.k.a. "how once again Marlon had delivered the unconscious Farmer home"), but the new member of the Adventurers' Guild was stubborn and left on Marlon's table a dozen life elixirs that they had brewed themselves, as well as a whole basket of fresh apples. Well, it was rude to refuse, but the old adventurer still wanted the Farmer to be careful in the Mines next time.
A good luck bracelet? Ha! Thanks, Farmer, but Alex doesn't need one. He's a real sports star (not yet recognized, but soon!), and he relies solely on his talents and muscles. Although, if an athlete knows Farmer very well, he won't turn down a bracelet. Although he's not superstitious, a gift from a friend as a token of attention really touched him. Not that he'll admit it out loud, of course.
"Will I be able to fly?! Or talk to animals? Will I be able to talk to trees too? Will I turn into a dinosaur? Or invisible? I'd like to become an invisible dinosaur!" Yeah, I guess it wasn't such a good idea for the Farmer to announce to Vincent that they were brewing potions in addition to farming. Who knew the boy would be so intrigued by the Farmer's activities, after all, where else would you see a Farmer who could not only make cheese, but also do magic things?
Jas is a pretty smart girl, and quickly guessed about Farmer's unusual talents. She promised to keep it a secret.... If the Farmer promised to show her those unusual black chickens. Given that the farm is not far from her aunt's ranch, Jas often comes to visit the hospitable Farmer, just to watch them conjure or make cheese. And for black chickens. So cute!
To be honest, Marnie is a little... confused. She doesn't really believe in magic and all, but one event has made her reconsider. The Farmer recently gave her an totem that they say protects her lovely chickens from forest predators (poor Marnie is still grieving over hen Matilda, who was stolen by a fox). Now foxes approaching the coop howl, as if wounded, when they see the totem and run away. A coincidence, or does the totem really work?
"Ah, fellow craftsman! Glad to see that the practice of the arts of alchemy and enchantment is still not extinct." Wizard knew from the beginning that Farmer was connected with the magical world, but even for him it was a surprise that the young talent could cast complex spells and brew potions. And most importantly, help the locals (well, or at least not harm anyone). Hm, he was just looking for an apprentice, and Farmer would be perfect candidate...
Leah isn't much into elixirs and talismans, but when the red-haired girl fell ill, the Farmers were the first to help and gave her some funny-smelling potions that made her feel better instantly. They also treated Leah to some homemade goat cheese and fruits. Witch or not, Leah was glad to have such a caring friend and promised herself to do something for the Farmer in return.
Even though Demetrius had no desire to offend or insult the Farmer in any way, the scientist will look very sceptical at the amulet the Farmer offers him for protection against evil spirits. And for all the spells that the Farmer shows, desperately trying to prove to Demetrius that they are real spellcasters, he will wave his hand, saying that it is all scientifically explainable. Farmer is levitating, the hell you mean scientifically explainable?!
Clint wanted to ask something about a love potion, but quickly silenced himself before the Farmer could hear anything. It would hardly be true love if you put that magic stuff in there.... What?! No, he didn't mean anyone in particular, they heard nothing! In general, the blacksmith doesn't care if the Farmer grows strawberries, enchants bracelets or practises fortune-telling.
Abigail has become a very frequent visitor to the farm. The violet-haired girl sometimes likes to sit in the Farmer's kitchen, helping or watching them make blueberry jam or pickled tomatoes. But most of all she is interested in watching them brew potions or just the way the spoons stir themselves thanks to magic. Abigail will also ask them to make her a elixirs taster ("Pretty please!").
Perhaps Lewis would have just politely ignored the Farmer's statement that they were a wizard and that they would be happy to help him and the people of the Valley with potions, but still the Pelican Town Mayor decided to try his luck and ask the Farmer one specific question. Hmm? Why did Lewis need a stamina potion? Erm, well, Lewis wanted to start doing, er... exercise, and- Never mind, forget what he just said, Farmer.
You know that look on some parents' faces when their little child hands them a craft made of dirt or leaves, and the adults try to squeeze out a smile and say what an interesting thing their kid made? That's what was on Jodi's face when Farmer gave her the gift with a proud smile. Thank you so much for the fresh vegetables, Farmer, and, umm.... What's with the skull pendant with the glowing eyes? "Luck pendant? Ahahaha, how nice, thank you!" (Jodi dies inside).
A small woven basket, containing some fruit or goodies, and a small vial of purple liquid.... Almost everyone in the Valley had received a gift from the unusual Farmer, and Robin was no exception. The carpenter doesn't know what's up with the "potion to cure diseases", but she's just glad that the Farmer has fit into their little community so quickly and takes care of everyone like family. Robin smiles genuinely and is already on her way home with peaches given by the Farmer to treat her husband and her children.
One day Haley is sure to drop by the Farmer's to visit and ask them to let her have a photo session of their farm. Because this place is sure to be a winner in Zuzu City's "All About the Country life" photo contest! Plus, the blonde-haired girl discovered the delights of rural life, and the Farmer themself turned out to be a very interesting person. But Haley can't stand the smell of the cauldron. Why would the Farmer have a cauldron in his kitchen?
For about an hour now, poor Maru has been racking her brains and searching medical books and scientific articles for any information about the ingredients that the Farmers, as they themselves claim, put in the "potion". It's phenomenal - a liquid that instantly cured Maru's burn on her arm! (the result of a failed experiment). Poor Farmer only wanted to bring the young inventor the cure and fresh strawberries, but ended up being showered with a mountain of questions from a exited Maru. "Magic? Witches and wizards? Nonsense!"
Kent had been standing by the front door of the farmhouse for some more than ten minutes now, keeping his eyes fixed on the broom that was brushing the porch steps by itself. Either his nightmares had made him crazy, or those pickled mushrooms the Farmer had treated the military man with (and given several jars of mushrooms as a treat to his family) were laced with some sort of hallucinogen. Farmer stepped out onto the porch. "Ah, I can use magic to make a broom sweep!" Apparently it was the mushrooms after all, Kent thought.
Did someone say pendants with stones that have magical properties? Or dreamcatchers? Then Emily's on her way! Nothing brings the blue-haired girl more joy than discussions about amethyst, that ability to enhance the wearer's intuition, or the positive emotion-filled bracelets she's made for her friends. Granted Emily has a slightly different field (and Farmer's pendants are enchanted for real), but she would be the one closest to Farmer's interest in making trinkets of all sorts to help others.
Oh, Gus knows well that if he needs the best quality produce for his meals, the owner of the Saloon can ask the hard-working and kind Farmer for help. Admittedly, at times he is a bit taken aback when the Farmer still offers him unfamiliar herbs and products that they have made themselves. "Moon salt", what is that? Seems edible, even delicious! Definitely going into his escargot.
"That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life." Whoa, Pam, you don't have to be that blunt with the person you're getting a gift from. Yes, the bracelet may not have the most adorable look, but the Farmer is a spellcaster with experience, and this trinket will help bring Pam happiness, wealth, and- "Thanks for the mead and the parsnips, kiddo, but I'm not taking this creepy bracelet." Pam, don't be rude to the Farmer, where's your manners and gratitude?
Yoba, Harvey tries to be polite and patient, but he can't stay away when he sees Farmer offering other residents elixirs that, they say, will "instantly cure illnesses"??? He is a doctor, and has devoted years at university to curing people, while Farmer is engaging in, pardon his harsh words, quackery?! However, when the doctor is convinced that Farmer is a real wizard/witch, he quickly apologizes and goes into a crisis. Someone give this man a glass of wine or Harvey is about to freak out.
Oh, no, no, no, no! Pierre had already made a mistake once in his youth when he bought a "talisman that brings wealth and good luck" from a stranger who claimed to be a sorceress, but it turned out to be just a cheap glass craft. So he had to create wealth with his bare hands. The shopkeeper would refuse all the amulets offered by the Farmer, and the strange elixirs too. But to buy their homemade strawberry wine of iridium quality is always welcome!
When the Farmer had just arrived in Stardew Valley, Willy had once told them that he had an amulet against all sorts of misfortunes, which he had had to sell because the money was almost gone. The old sailor had already had time to regret it, but you can't bring back the past. Farmer remembered this moment, and out of kindness made a real sea amulet for Willy. And unlike the old one, this will definitely protect him from treacherous sirens or huge deep-sea monsters while fishing.
"So enchanting objects for each other is normal for humans?" Krobus had thought that only the Wizard had knowledge of the forgotten arts, but it seemed he had missed some details when he had studied the lives of the local people of Pelican Town. People usually don't do that? Oh, alright..
The amulet that Sebastian received as a gift from the Farmer looks so cool and creepy that Sebby has started wearing it with his everyday clothes. True, the young man was a little distrustful of the Farmer's words about the "enchantment" of this trinket. He was interested in all sorts of occult things, but was not sure about the magic. Farmer, in order to prove their words, gave him another "frog magnet" talisman. The next day, by Sebastian's surprised face and a dozen frogs jumping after him, it was clear that the local emo definitely believed now.
An enchanted pendant that allows you to see artifacts hidden from human eyes... That explains how the Farmers were able to find and provide Gunther with such rare specimens of forgotten civilizations. Did they make such an amulet themselves? Amazing! What? An amulet for him? Thank you very much, Farmer. Now together, the two of them can not only restore the local museum to its former glory, but also make it even better!
Penny doesn't know what the little bottle of liquid the Farmer gave her, but her flu is gone in just an hour after she empties the contents of the bottle. Thank you so much, Farmer, for helping the young teacher by giving her this medicine. "My pleasure, the elixir of healing diseases isn't that hard to make, the main thing is not to overdo it with the wolfsbane." "W- what?...." Penny didn't have time to ask again, as the Farmer handed her a basket of oranges and wished her good health, running off on their own.
Linus had time to show the young mage (yes, it's no secret to him that they have a magical gift) all the secret places to pick unusual berries and mushrooms. Because he knows that the Farmer will definitely use it in brewing elixirs to help people, and that can't help but please the good-hearted wild man. Plus, he has to say thank you somehow for that wonderful blueberry pie.
From the Farmer's window there is almost always the smell of delicious baked goods or the pleasant scent of flowers, and Sam, without noticing it himself, has begun to walk past the farm often. The young guitarist doesn't need to be told twice when he's invited for pie or maple donuts. Farmer is always happy to have guests, especially if the guests decide to brighten up their mornings with a beautiful music. "What's brewing in the pot?" "Elixir of immortality." "Cool. Wait, what...?"
"These leaves give the tea a rather unusual flavor. And I think I'm beginning to see... flowers in my eyes. Dear Farmer, are you sure you've worked the tea leaves properly?" Caroline, your tea made the Farmer's eyes see a white little man dancing on the edge of your mug. So don't go blabbing about the Farmer's homemade tea. They certainly know the basics of herbology and alchemy, and know how to brew the most complex elixirs. So don't even-
Given Dwarf's suspiciousness, they didn't take any medallions or elixirs from the Farmer at first, because it could have turned out to be a devious plan by the shadow people. What if there's poison in the bottle? Or the medallion reveals their location to the enemy? It takes a long time before they can trust the Farmer, and later they have something of a bartering relationship with potions (the Farmer gives Dwarf elixirs out of the goodness of his heart, but Dwarf insists that the Farmer needs to get something of equal value in return).
Hmm! Why would George want this useless trinket, even if it was free? So they could sit on a shelf and gather dust? Farmer, he doesn't believe in all that focus-pocus, so he doesn't need those strange and ugly bracelets and amulets that also smell weird. A spellcaster? Don't be absurd.
Farmers were so kind to come and visit, and they also brought some goodies: ripe berries, homemade cottage cheese... And they even brought George some ointment for his bad knees, how nice of them! And though it's not clear if Evelyn believes the ointment is magical, and if she knows that Farmers can cast spells and communicate with animals. The granny is just glad that such a kind and caring young person came to their house, and without cookies, which just had time to cool down, Evelyn will not let them go.
A lonely, city-weary man who had been hiding their magical talent was finally able to escape the suffocating clutches of a mega corporation to drop everything and move to the middle of nowhere where they could find their happiness and calling... Yes, Elliott is definitely sure that this would be the perfect story for his new novella. The writer was so taken by his own muse that he wasn't even surprised by the fact that the Farmers, in addition to caring for crops and livestock, can do magic and brew elixirs. Novella now, questions later!
Morris has absolutely no time for nonsense, why did the Farmer give him some strange liquid in a bottle? A cure for back pain? Very funny, but he wasn't born yesterday to believe that nonsense. Except that Farmer's curiosity and puppy eyes made Joja's manager take a sip.... And no more back pain! Hmm, interesting... Farmer, how about a contract to sell this miracle liquid?
_________________________________________
Note: I hope I didn't deviate from the main question because I couldn't decide if the people of Stardew Valley believe the farmer is a wizard/sorcerer/witch by default, or if some know and some don't? And how are talismans and potions even viewed from their perspective (Shane, at least, doesn't believe in magic, judging by the canon quotes). I'm open to feedback! 😃

Gallavich discover farmers markets when they move to the Westside.
Ian has been trying to make sure they're eating healthy, and how can it get healthier than fresh fruits and veg? So when he sees a few stands teeming with produce and people, he drags Mickey with him.
The first time, they only purchase fruits and vegetables and bypass most of the other stands. They go back the next week. And then they go back again.
By the fourth time, they have added fresh local flowers to their weekly purchases. Mickey refuses to admit he likes having them on their dinner table, but eventually he's the one picking out the bouquet.
On their sixth trip, Ian gets distracted by a local soap maker. He spends nearly 20 minutes picking out a scent that he likes. Or rather, that he thinks he'll like on Mickey. When he finds Mickey again, his husband is munching on a bag of homemade jerky.
Ian loses count after that.
They try honeycomb for the first time and buy honey from the local beekeeper. They sample artisan cheese and jams and jellies, and they listen politely to a candle maker as she excitedly explains her process for the fourth week in a row. Ian aquires a taste for tea thanks to the blends made by a middle-aged man who pays far too much attention to his daily horoscopes. They make sure to stop by a bakery stand every time to buy fresh pastries and bread.
Mickey often lingers at a stall run by a man who does leather and woodwork, and Ian places a special order with him for Mickey's birthday; a matching belt and wallet.
By far, their favorite vendors are an old woman and her grandson who sell beanies, scarves, and the like. The old woman is nice enough, if a little forgetful, but it's the grandson, who is their age, that they become friends with. He did time for armed robbery and learned to knit while he was locked up. "I did it 'cause I remembered Nan doing it when I was a kid." Now, it's his business. And his grandma enjoys the excuse to spend time with her grandson.
By the time winter comes around, they've each got a matching hat, scarf, and glove set, there are four varieties of tea besides Mickey's favorite coffee, and they've even purchased a couple candles.

Word Count: 5.2k
Pairing: Daeron x Fem! Reader | (angst, hurt/comfort, happy end)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Red Keep, preparations for the impending nuptials of the youngest prince, Daeron, were in full swing. The castle was a beehive of activity, with every corner bustling with servants, artisans, and nobles, all working tirelessly to ensure that the wedding would be a spectacle of grandeur and opulence.
The castle's kitchen staff worked around the clock, concocting mouthwatering feasts that would delight the most discerning palates. Roasts, game meats, and freshly caught fish were all being prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. The scent of roasting meats and freshly baked bread wafted through the corridors, creating an irresistible allure for anyone who passed by. Meanwhile, seamstresses and tailors toiled away to create the most breathtaking wedding attire for the royal couple.
Yet, amidst the bustling activity, a strange tension hung in the air. It was no secret that the Prince and his betrothed had been spending their days avoiding each other. The once inseparable duo had inexplicably distanced themselves from one another. The nobles, who had overheard the heated argument between the two of you just days prior, couldn't help but gossip and speculate about the cause of your sudden estrangement.
Rumours spread like wildfire throughout the castle, with many whispering that your engagement might be on the brink of collapse. The nobles were eagerly waiting for any sign that the young couple's love had soured, as it presented a golden opportunity to push forth their own sons and daughters as potential candidates for marriage with the Targaryen family. It was a chance to secure their own family's prestige and power.
You, consumed by uncertainty and internal turmoil, found solace in Helaena. She was a gentle and kind-hearted soul, but despite her best efforts to console you, and assure you of her brother's love, your restless mind seemed insurmountable. After all, Helaena wasn't there when he called you a bastard, when he called your mother a whore. You could never forgive him, but it still made you ache in a way that felt like someone was scraping a rusted fork across the walls of your heart, repeatedly slow. Still, you allowed Helaena to fill your head with her sweet words, spending hours with her strolling through the gardens.
Your unease was unrelenting. As the wedding day drew nearer, you contemplated the possibility of confronting King Viserys himself and refusing the marriage altogether. Yet, the sight of the aging king's unwavering joy and anticipation for the upcoming celebration filled you with guilt. Every time he saw you, he spoke animatedly of his excitement and blessings for the wedding and the prospect of disappointing him and the entire realm felt like an unbearable weight on your shoulders. It felt as though someone had tied iron weights to your feet and cast you into a seemingly bottomless ocean.
To add insult to injury, you were well aware of what the other nobles said behind your back. The rumours of you and your siblings being bastards started circulating with renewed ferocity, and with everyone hoping for your engagement to fail, a part of you wanted to prove them right and end it right then. It was clear that your so-called betrothed couldn't care less for you as he had not even come to see you once. Even during meal times, one of you always managed to come up with some excuse to avoid attending, and you hadn't seen him since the day he had irreparably broken your heart.
Tumblr media
"What's gotten into you, brother? You look as if you've been denied your favourite wine."
It was Aegon, standing against his younger brother's doorframe, his arms crossed and an amused expression on his face. Daeron sat at his writing desk, a dark cloud over his countenance. His frown grew at his brother's words.
"Not everyone is a drunkard like you brother!"
Aegon lifted his hand to his chest in mock offence, a mischievous glint in his eyes. His grin grew wider and he quirked an eyebrow, wanting to tease Daeron even more now.
"Well, you certainly are in a foul mood. Have a little lover's spat with your beloved betrothed?"
Daeron's head snapped up, his eyes flashing with irritation. "Don't speak her cursed name," he hissed through gritted teeth, his voice laced with venom.
"Ha! Cursed is she now? What, was she not fun to bed?"
Daeron's blood curdled at hearing Aegon speaking that way about you but the resentment he harboured against you outweighed that and that is why he let the next words slip past his lips.
"As if I'd want to bed the likes of her."
Aegon rolled his eyes, "You are going to be married to her. You can't not bed your own wife."
"She'll call off the wedding. She'd be stupid not to."
Aegon's amusement evaporated as he studied his brother's face, searching for any trace of jest in his words. However, Daeron's expression remained deadly serious, and the raw emotion in his voice was unmistakable. Aegon took a step closer, his playful demeanour replaced by some semblance of concern.
"Do you want her to call it off?"
Daeron shrugged, "It will be for the best."
"Then call it off."
"What?"
"If you don't want to marry her, call it off," Aegon pointed out matter-of-factly.
Daeron almost laughed. Aegon was a fool but sometimes he let slip the occasional kernel of wisdom.
"If you really didn't want to marry her, you'd call it off yourself," Aegon repeated. "My brother is a lot of things, but he is no coward."
Daeron did laugh this time. Aegon was wrong. He was a coward. He was the biggest coward. Of course, he wanted to marry you, and he would never break off your betrothal but he was a coward. He wanted you to be the one to end it so he could blame you for yet another thing.
"I mean, you might as well call it off so the rest of the fine lords vying for her attention can finally have a chance."
"Pardon?"
"Don't be daft. Surely you must have noticed, the sudden influx of nobles milling about the Red Keep. The unfortunate state of your relationship is no secret and there are plenty of lords who would give an arm and a leg to be our half-sister's son-in-law."
"No..." Daeron blinked, an unpleasant feeling blooming in his chest. "She wouldn't-"
"You react to her as if she's a plague. Do not delude yourself into thinking that she cannot find a man better suited to her," Aegon winked at him. "Who are you to deny her if she can find a man who brings her greater pleasure."
"Don't be foul!"
"I only speak the truth brother. Either accept it or change it."
Daeron let out a long sigh and leaned back in his chair, his eyes gazing out the window at the moonlit courtyard below. "You don't understand," he began, his voice more resigned than angry. "You don't know about the false accusations she made...and the things I said to her in retaliation. There is no fixing this."
"False accusations? What, did she catch you with some kitchen maid and accuse you of being unfaithful? Tell your dear future wife-to-be that it is simply the nature of men," Aegon drawled sarcastically.
"I would never do that!" Daeron protested sharply.
"Oh, don't act like you're better than me. Surely you must have had plenty of bedmates in Oldtown. Do not lie to your own brother."
"I am not like you," Daeron gritted out through clenched teeth. "I have never...done that sort of thing."
"Liar."
"I am not lying. I have never thought of anyone-"
Daeron paused in the middle of his sentence, not wanting to continue his train of thought.
I have never thought of anyone other than her.
You had been the only thing on his mind. All his life, from the moment he was old enough to know what it meant to want someone, to yearn for someone, it had always been you. All those years in Oldtown, it was the memory of you that sustained him, even when it seemed as though you had forgotten all about him. Now that memory had soured, when he remembered the way you had accused Lord Ormund, a man who had been his father in every way his real father had failed him, which was to say in every way possible.
Tumblr media
The next morning, both Aegon and Aemond decided to take their youngest brother on a leisurely stroll through the castle gardens. The idea had been solely Aegon's, and he took the lead, orchestrating the pace and direction of their stroll. Aemond followed, his silence like an imposing shadow. Daeron, still lost in the maelstrom of his thoughts, complied without much enthusiasm. It came as some surprise, to see his oldest brother so invested in his matters but he supposed he should be grateful. In times of emotional turmoil, Helaena was his chosen person of comfort but since you seemed to be permanently glued to her side lately, he had no choice but to give her place to Aegon.
As they rounded a corner, the sound of soft laughter reached their ears. Aegon grinned and continued forward, unperturbed. The laughter grew clearer as they approached, and soon, they emerged into a sun-dappled clearing. There, seated beneath the shade of a massive oak tree, was the last person Daeron expected to see. You sat with your back to him, looking radiant in the warm sunlight as it cast an ethereal glow across your visage. So enamoured was he by you, that it took him a few more moments to notice that you had company. Helaena and another poshly dressed gentleman sat around you. The man was engaged in animated conversation, his hands flying through the air as he spoke. You and Helaena leaned in, eyes alight with amusement as you listened to his tales, your laughter like tinkling bells.
Aegon paused, his eyes scanning the scene. He glanced at his younger brothers, who were somewhat taken aback by the sight before them. He made a subtle signal for them to continue moving, ensuring Daeron would have a clear view of you and the charming stranger. Aemond shot him a questioning glare but he only winked in response.
Daeron watched, his heart clenching as he observed your joy in the company of another man. It was a scene that struck at the core of his misery, causing his own unhappiness to deepen. Then, almost as if taunting him, the stranger leaned forward ever so slightly, his charming demeanour and engaging conversation drawing your attention.
Daeron clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug into his palms. The pain, however, went unnoticed, overshadowed by the searing heat that coursed through him. His heart pounded in his chest, and his jaw was set in a rigid line, as he watched the scene unfold with a mixture of despair and frustration.
He was convinced that the gentleman would lean in to steal a kiss from you, a thought that tormented him beyond measure. It was as if his world had turned to chaos, and he was helplessly witnessing the unravelling of everything he held dear. Blood welled up from the tiny crescents on his palms, but he was oblivious to the physical pain.
However, the stranger's actions took a different turn. Instead of a kiss, he reached forward to brush a stray leaf that had become entangled in your tresses. As his fingers gently traced the contours of your hair, Daeron's heart sank. You looked up at the stranger with a touch of abashment, as he held the leaf aloft, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
It was enough to make your betrothed's blood boil with jealousy. He felt a burning rage that threatened to consume him, and it took all his self-control not to rush forward and confront the stranger, to shake him by the collar and slice through him with his sword.
Aemond scowled at Aegon, understanding to some degree, the mischievous game he was playing as they both watched their youngest brother try and school his expression. He looked like a tightly wound spring, and when Aemond moved to lead them away from the scene, Aegon grabbed his arm and aggressively shook his head. They had to stay. He had to stay and watch you.
The stranger's fingers brushed your hand, and at that moment, all sense of rationality fled from Daeron's mind. His vision blurred, and his heart pounded even louder in his ears. He was so consumed by his own emotions that he didn't notice your immediate reaction.
In that instant, you withdrew your hand from the stranger's touch. A small frown creased your lips, and a glint of discomfort flashed in your eyes. You had only come out to the gardens at Helaena's request, not seeking the unwelcome advances of an amorous suitor. While you may not have been on the best of terms with your betrothed, you were still a woman spoken for, and you found the stranger's egregious flirting quite annoying. You glanced at Helaena who smiled at you placatingly, gesturing at you to remain seated. When you lowered your gaze to the floor, she flashed Aegon a quick scowl, knowing that all three of her brothers stood there watching. Then her eyes widened in alarm at the approaching figure of her youngest brother, his face a twisted mask of fury. His steps were heavy and resolute, and if looks could kill, the poor gentleman would be long dead.
Daeron came to a stop in front of him, his piercing gaze locking onto the stranger's eyes. His chest heaved with each deep breath he took, trying to control the fury that simmered within him. For a moment, he stood in silence, his gaze shifting between you and the stranger, his emotions churning like a tempest.
Then, with a sudden, almost aggressive movement, Daeron reached out and grabbed your hand. His grip was firm, almost painful, as he yanked you up from your seat. The abruptness of his actions took you by surprise, and you looked at him with wide eyes, your expression a mix of shock and confusion.
Daeron, his voice laced with anger and frustration, hissed, "We need to talk. Now."
Without waiting for a response, he pulled you away from the group and deeper into the gardens, his strides long and forceful, as if he were trying to put as much distance as possible between the two of you and the others.
Back in the clearing, Aegon grinned and slapped the gentleman on the shoulder amicably.
"You have my sincerest gratitude for your assistance, Ser Atticus," he winked.
The gentleman, Ser Atticus, smiled and bowed his head at the oldest prince.
"You set this up?" Aemond scoffed. "I should have known, after all, you're not exactly one to enjoy morning strolls in the garden."
"I was only trying to help our dear brother confront his feelings. He will thank me later."
"You better hope this works," Helaena grumbled. "If my niece has been hurt due to your recklessness, you will regret it dearly."
Aegon clutched his heart, "Oh dear sister, you wound me. She is my niece too. I would never wish to hurt her. She will thank me too. This way both young fools will be able to discuss their true feelings."
Meanwhile, Daeron led you away to a secluded corner of the garden, where the lush foliage provided a curtain of privacy. You pulled away your hand from his bruising grip, glaring at him venomously.
"Well then?" you raised an unimpressed eyebrow. "Spit it out, you clearly look like you have a lot to say. Do grace us with your words, my prince."
You drawled the words, my prince, mockingly, sneering at him to speak.
"What in the Seven Hells were you thinking? Allowing that man to behave so familiarly with you in public. Are you trying to humiliate yourself, you-"
Daeron did not get a chance to finish before he was slammed against the hard trunk of the massive tree behind him. He stopped short, his breath escaping his lips in a surprised exhale. Then his breath caught once again at your proximity. Your hands fisted his collar, and your eyes blazed with unrestrained fury as you glared daggers at him. Despite your smaller stature, you somehow managed to look down your nose at him.
"Go on then," you seethed, your white-knuckled grip tightening in the fabric of his tunic, looking just moments away from strangling him. "Finish that sentence. What was it you were going to call me? A whore? A bastard? What new word has your drunkard cunt of a brother taught you to use? Let us see your expanded vocabulary now!"
Daeron watched your anger and frustration manifest in your sparkling eyes, and the way your mouth twisted into a deadly grimace. Amid the chaos, a singular, traitorous thought rose in his mind, amidst the anger and confusion that had gripped him.
"Say it so that I may have the pleasure of ripping your tongue from between your teeth with my own hands."
He couldn't help but notice the way the sunlight cast shadows against your face, the way your fiery eyes held a flicker of vulnerability, and the angry tears that clung to your lashes. In that moment, a strange and conflicting desire welled up within him. He wanted to reach out, to brush away the tears and caress your cheek, to taste the anger on your lips, to taste the blood that you would undoubtedly draw.
However, Daeron did none of those things because Daeron was a fool and when he opened his foolish mouth, the words that came out were far from what he truly wanted to convey.
"If you're that desperate for another man's attention, perhaps you should consider calling off our wedding altogether."
Your eyes widened in shock and disbelief, your anger momentarily replaced by a deep hurt. Then you laughed, a burst of brief maniacal laughter that had your betrothed looking at you with a strange expression on his face. You were a fool too after all. You were an utter fool if you thought that after your last argument, there was nothing else Daeron could say to hurt you. You thought you had heard the worst of it, but there was always more. There were always new ways to hurt and Daeron, it seemed, was an expert at finding just the right spaces between your ribs to plunge his dagger into.
"Do it yourself, you coward!" you finally snarled, "or are you too afraid that you'll disappoint your father? Do not worry, you can't disappoint someone who never held any expectations for you."
Now it was Daeron's turn to flinch, your words hitting too close to that soft vulnerable place where his lungs contacted shakily against his ribcage. You scoffed at his speechlessness and slowly let go of his tunic, smoothing it down with trembling fingers, a false smile pasted on your face.
"Careful now, wouldn't want to be seen associating with a bastard, now would you," you smiled broadly. "Be sure to tell the king that you have changed your mind."
You smiled because if you didn't, you would cry and you would be damned if you let him see you cry again. You hit first so it wouldn't hurt when he did it. If you turned it into a joke, then it wouldn't sting when he turned you into one.
Daeron remained rooted in place, watching you walk away from him for the second time that week. It was becoming a habit of his. He felt equal parts guilty and furious, and he didn't quite know how to deal with it.
Tumblr media
"Daeron, my boy, it's good to see you. How does it feel to be back at home in the Red Keep?"  Lord Ormund's voice was warm and comforting as he reached out to ruffle Daeron's hair affectionately.
Daeron stood awkwardly in Lord Ormund's doorway, stepping inside hesitantly. At his lack of response, the lord's eyes filled with empathy as he guided his nephew to a pair of comfortable chairs near the window. He gestured for Daeron to sit, then called for the maids to bring some refreshments.
"Well, my boy," Lord Ormund began, "you know that you can always come to me when you need to talk. I'm here to listen and help in any way I can."
"Thank you. I needed someone to talk to."
As the maids brought in a tray of refreshments and poured tea for both of them, Lord Ormund smiled, "Now, Daeron, let's take your mind off your worries for a while. How about a game of chess? It might help clear your thoughts."
Daeron nodded, appreciating his uncle's efforts to distract him from his troubles, "That sounds like a good idea. I could use a distraction right now."
As the game of chess progressed, Daeron tried to muster the courage to inquire about the missing letters that you had claimed were purposely hidden from him during his time in Oldtown. He knew he had to tread carefully, as he didn't want to offend Lord Ormund by accusing him based on mere rumours. Daeron respected Lord Ormund deeply and held the belief that he wouldn't intentionally harm him. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but feel the need to confirm the matter for himself.
Taking a deep breath, Daeron broached the subject, his words carefully chosen.
"Lord Ormund, I've been pondering something," he began. "I was wondering if there might have been any chance that some letters were misplaced or overlooked, during my stay in Oldtown."
Lord Ormund paused for a moment, a flicker of unease crossing his features, though it was subtle. He carefully considered Daeron's question and replied, "Well, my boy, it is possible that sometimes letters get misplaced, especially with the volume of correspondence we receive. Is there a particular letter that you are inquiring about?"
"No, not in particular. I was simply wondering. I have a few acquaintances here in King's Landing who claim they were unable to reach me so I thought I'd inquire about the matter."
"Of course. As I said, these things happen from time to time. Communication is lost from time to time. However, you are here now, so you may reassure them in person."
Daeron appreciated his uncle's reassurance but couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. He decided to probe a bit further, maintaining his gentle tone. "I understand, my lord. I don't mean to doubt your integrity, but I've heard certain rumours, and I wanted to clear the air. I trust you completely."
Lord Ormund shifted uncomfortably in his chair, a subtle sign that Daeron didn't miss. He looked down at the chessboard for a moment before meeting Daeron's gaze. "I appreciate your trust, my boy, but there's nothing more to the missing letters. It was a simple case of some misplaced correspondence. Perhaps a page boy or two must be reprimanded when I return, but let's not dwell on it any longer."
Reluctantly, Daeron accepted Lord Ormund's insistence on moving past the subject, and they returned their focus to the chess game. However, the unresolved issue continued to weigh on Daeron's mind, leaving him with a sense of unease that he couldn't easily dispel. He wanted to banish the traitorous thoughts permanently from his head. What kind of person doubted the very person who had cared for him all these years? It felt wrong to doubt Lord Ormund's words, and yet, he couldn't get your tearful pleas to trust you out of his mind.
That evening, Daeron couldn't shake his nagging doubts about the missing letters. Despite his earlier conversation with Lord Ormund, he found himself returning to his chambers once more, resolved to ask about the matter one final time, trusting that he would accept his uncle's word and let it rest.
As he approached Lord Ormund's door, he paused just outside, hesitant to interrupt what appeared to be a private conversation. He couldn't help but overhear the hushed, urgent tones of Lord Ormund and his grandfather, Otto Hightower.
"The boy is getting suspicious," Lord Ormund whispered, his voice tinged with concern. "You better make sure he finds out nothing. I will not have that boy hate me, not when I have raised him and loved him as my own."
"It's not my fault that you weren't able to do a better job at keeping him apart from that woman's daughter. You knew the stakes of their union, Ormund," Otto's response was low and urgent
Lord Ormund's response was laced with emotion, as he vehemently declared, "I didn't even care about keeping them apart. I only cared for my boy's happiness. I did it on your command, in the hopes that he would remain more focused on his duties and education."
In absolute horror, Daeron retreated backward, a sickening sort of guilt washing over him like a tidal wave. The weight of his actions, the hurtful and awful things he had said to you in the heat of anger and denial, began to suffocate him. It filled his lungs and dug its fingers in his throat, drowning him, dragging him under.
He couldn't help but replay the words and accusations he had thrown at you in his mind. The memory of your hurt expression, the anger in your eyes, and the tears he had caused you to shed were a torment to his conscience. He knew that he had pushed you away, possibly irrevocably and that your relationship now lay in tatters.
Daeron couldn't bear the thought of you hating him, but he understood that he had given you ample reason to feel that way. He paced the hallway, the guilt and regret gnawing at him relentlessly. He needed to find you, to make amends, to tell you how deeply sorry he was, and that he would spend the rest of his days trying to make it right, even if he didn't deserve your forgiveness.
His feet led him through the familiar halls of the Red Keep, and he finally found himself standing before your chamber door. He knew you would be furious with him, and he had no idea if you would even open the door, but he couldn't bear the thought of not trying to make amends.
With trembling hands, he knocked on the door, a tentative sound that echoed in the quiet hallway. To his surprise, the door creaked open, revealing your forlorn form standing on the other side. You were still in your day dress, despite the late hour, and your eyes were rimmed with red as if you had been crying.
You scowled at the sight of him, moving to slam the door shut in his face, but he acted quickly, slipping inside before you could complete the motion. His heart pounded in his chest as he realized the enormity of what he had to do.
"Listen," he said your name softly, his voice trembling with emotion. "I... I need to talk to you." He could see you tense as if preparing for another argument, and he quickly added, "I want to apologize. I'm so, so sorry for what I said earlier. I should have believed you. I should have trusted you. I don't know what came over me, but I said terrible things, and I regret it more than you can imagine. I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I need you to know that I'm truly, deeply sorry. I need you to know how much you mean to me."
"Get out," your voice was quiet.
"No...no please just hear me out. I can't leave like this. I am a fool. I am a fool for not trusting you. For taking all the worst things and using them to hurt you, but I didn't mean any of it. I swear it. I-"
You interrupted him, voice edged with anger, "You hurt me, Daeron. You hurt me deeply. I don't know if I can ever forgive you for the things you said."
Daeron's heart sank at your words, but he couldn't blame you for your anger and hesitation. He nodded, swallowing hard as he replied, "I understand. I understand if you can't forgive me, but I can't bear the thought of losing you because of my foolishness."
It was getting harder and harder for you to keep your own tears at bay.
"Please, leave."
Daeron dropped to his knees in front of you, his hands reaching out to clasp yours. His eyes were filled with raw, unfiltered regret.
"I was wrong. I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I love you. I'll spend my life trying to make it up to you...if you'll let me. Please, allow me to be yours, to be better for you."
You were taken aback by the intensity of his remorse and sincerity. You felt conflicted, torn between the hurt you felt and the love you still harboured for him.
"Daeron, please... I need time," you pleaded, voice quavering as you struggled with your own emotions.
Daeron's grip on your hands tightened, his eyes pleading for your understanding, "I'll give you all the time you need. I'll wait forever if that's what it takes. Just give me a chance to show you that I'm the person who deserves you. I love you, and I'll prove it every day, I swear. it"
Your heart softened at the sight of his vulnerable state, his heart laid bare before you. Your resolve wavered.
"Daeron, please," you began, voice faltering.
But before you could say more, Daeron's voice cracked and fresh tears flowed down his cheeks, his desperation reaching a peak.
"I can't lose you. Please, let me make it right. Please, please, please. There is no one in this world I'd rather be with so please, let me just show you."
Your heart stirred, and almost unconsciously, you reached out, wiping away a tear from his cheek. He stilled almost immediately at your touch, leaning into your palm as his chest heaved.
"Get up, Daeron."
When he stood before you once more, you reached out again to brush your fingers against his face tentatively. Daeron, in turn, gently wiped away your tears, his fingers tracing the contours of your face. His touch was tender and filled with adoration, and you couldn't help but melt into his touch. You knew that it was too soon to forgive him completely, that the hurt ran deep and would take time to heal, but you found yourself unable to resist the pull of his emotions.
Your defences were futile in the face of Daeron's adoration. You understood that he had hurt you, that he might do so again in the future, but for now, you loved him, and you allowed yourself to imagine that he loved you too.
Daeron leaned closer, and you felt his lips against your skin as he pressed soft kisses against the tears that stained your cheeks. His touch was apologetic and affectionate, and you felt your heart soften further, allowing yourself to be pulled into his chest.
He held you tight as if he were afraid you might slip away. Your arms encircled him, your head resting against his chest as you listened to the erratic beat of his heart.
You felt Daeron's breath against your ear, and the words he whispered were soft and sincere, "I love you. I'll do whatever it takes to make this right. I will never give you another reason to complain, so please, just stay with me. Just stay, and don't go."
What else could you possibly do? He had asked you to stay, and so, you would stay forever.

Hey, ¿Are you taking requests?
If you are, i would want to request, some like, what if the Yautja had a ooman mate that is a baker?
Like she often does cake's, cookie's , cupcake's, etc.
Would the ooman have a bakery?
Btw: inglish isn't my first lenguage, , and i love you're blog!
this one is sweet
Yautja mate x Human! Reader no warnings
Your mate would find your work really interesting.
"A cook that only does one specific type of food?" crazy. unheard of.
in his world they eat and cook and drink anything and everything.
"and it's not meat??? meat is the best thing ever, the center of the universe. Ooman is silly."
But then you showed him the Bakery where you work at.
Fairly popular in the area and many Patrons come from far away to visit/order from your place.
You tell your mate that you actually studied for quite a long time to get your degree.
and that you were trained by "masters" in the industry.
Your mate finds this very intriguing.
He finds it weird how the place smells of freshly baked breads and sweet cinnomony frosting—your smell to be exact.
He knew your smell was quite unique but never knew it was because of your work.
He found the carefully handcrafted sweets pretty. Like genuenly pretty.
How fragile some of them are and can easily crumble if handled incorrectly. But also they are meant to crumble as they are meant to be eaten.
He heard that you were making "bear claws" and he got super excited to see the arranged bear claws on display only to be slightly disappointed to see that they were in fact pastries and not disembodied bear limbs arranged on a tray.
these are the bear claws :
Tumblr media
As for if he likes sweets, not really.
he does enjoy the sweetness of fruits from time to time, but to eat cakes and muffins its not his taste.
He does enjoy the artisanal breads you make.
he quite enjoys ciabatta bread. with lots of butter and some raspberry jelly.
If he had to pick a pastry he would pick cake pops or some kind of carrot cake anything.

A Perfectly Normal Schoolgirl, part 2
Well, I managed to churn out part 2 of this! Take that, flu >:) Anyways, read part 1 here
I listened to the rest of the class with a single ear, so busy with plotting our next move was I. Mrs Cheng was going to want to take revenge for my little ploy, and that meant I had to keep on my toes. Things were going to get significantly more dangerous.
Dane, fool boy that he was, had taken it upon himself to become the teacher's pet, a deadly thing to do when the teacher in question was Mrs C. All through the day, I cursed him as I watched him present neatly written equations to Mrs Cheng with glee. It was a small mercy that she had no knowledge of our relationship, for my sanity and for his safety, and suspected naught of him.
As the bell rang and we were released, I shot her a mocking bow and strolled out the door. Soon as I was out of sight, I grabbed Dane's elbow and sunk my nails into his soft flesh. “You idiot,” I hissed in his ear.
His wide prey-eyes met my narrowed ones. “What did I do? Training today wasn't that bad, was it?” When my glare did not let up, he batted at my hand. “Kat, let go, please. I don't know why you're so pissed with me, but you're going to draw blood! So unless you want my mom to have some very awkward questions, you have to stop.”
I glanced down at my hand, with its too-long fingers and too-sharp nails. “Tch,” I said. “You nearly got yourself killed with your antics just now. And all the not-terrible training in the world isn't going to be enough when you end up going toe to toe with C.”
“C? You mean Mrs Cheng? Wait…” Realisation dawned on his broad features. “Oh shit. You gotta be kidding me, right? It's her?”
I barked a laugh at that. “Yes, Dane. It's her. Her and about a quarter of the school faculty. So think twice before you draw any more attention to yourself, understand? You're not nearly ready enough to fight one of them.”
Biting his lip, Dane nodded. “I'm sorry, Kat. I should've thought things through more. Can I get you an ice cream to make it up to you?”
His inanity brought a smile to my face. “Don't apologise to me, silly. I'm not the one who's in danger. But yes, I would love to have an ice cream. Shall we try the gelato place that just opened up?”
He pulled out his wallet and made a show of noting how little there was in it. “You're going to drive me broke, Kat. These cafes are overpriced, you know. The convenience stores work just fine,” he whined.
I tapped him on the nose, and replied, “When you've lived a life like mine, you learn to appreciate the finer things in life, little Dane.” Besides, I thought grimly, I had upset the things running the convenience stores a tad too much to be comfortable eating something from there.
We walked, hand in hand, down the noon-burning street, and I could not help but revel in the heat. Truly, global warming was doing me a favour. Dane did not share my views, sadly. He leaked rivulets of sweat, fanning himself with a piece of paper and he strolled next to me.
It appeared we were not the only ones to crave icy relief, for the cafe was brimming with people munching on artisanal gelatos and sipping iced tea. There was only one person at the counter, a gorgeous woman with hair that fell in auburn waves and overalls that proclaimed her to be an employee. I slipped through the doors and pulled Dane behind me. Without them ever quite noticing, the customers parted around me, and I snuck my way into the front of the queue.
Without turning around, the woman manning the counter chirped, “Hello and welcome to Jelly's Gelatos! How can I help you today?”
I put on my best smile. “Oh, I'd like two scoops of chocolate gelato, please! In a cone. And two scoops of… Matcha, wasn't it? Also in a cone,” I said, winking at Dane as I did so. Matcha was his favourite flavour, and it had always delighted him when I remembered that, so I made the effort to. Indeed, he brightened up when I made his order correctly, and squeezed my hand appreciatively.
Smoothly, the woman scooped out our order. “You two make a cute couple,” she said as she did so. “I didn't know you liked little boys, Katherine.” My uniform had no name tag on it, and neither did anything I carried.
Ah, shit.
I tensed up, sliding into a fighting stance. “How the hell do you know my name?” A protective hand on Dane's shoulder, I leaned in to peer closer at her.
She looked up and tilted her head to the side. Eyes like burnished copper met mine, her pupils just a tad too elongated to be normal. Her hair was down, but I had a suspicion that it hid pointy ears. “Don't you recognise me, Katherine? I'm disappointed,” she purred.
That voice was familiar, and not in a good way. I'd met her kinden before, men and women too beautiful to be purely mortal, the children of unholy unions. They were never up to any good. “You should be,” I replied, baring my teeth at her. “Don't expect me to remember the name of every random person I come across.”
The insult stung, as it was meant to, and she thrust my order under my nose. I took my chocolate and handed the matcha to Dane, who accepted it cautiously. “You think you're so high and mighty, Katherine? You've made too many enemies, and it's only a matter of time before one of us gets you,” she snarled, her pearly white teeth stark against blood-red gums.
I rolled my eyes in my best approximation of a rebellious teenager. “Sure, like, whatever. I'm so frightened by random minimum wage workers,” I jeered. “C'mon, don't expect me to quiver in my boots at you. You're only scary to the children of helicopter parents who point at you as an example of what happens when you fail your exams.”
“You bitch,” she hissed.
“So close, but no cigar, sweetie,” I replied. “And I don't think that's the proper way to treat your customers, is it? No tips for you.” Picking up a handful of change from my pocket, I dumped it onto the counter. “Toodles!”
On that cheerful note, I pushed my way back out into the sunny sidewalk. Dane followed like a lost puppy, looking increasingly concerned. “What was that about? That woman looked like she was gonna kill you!”
I shrugged. “Get used to it, kiddo. Everyone wants me dead. And when they find out about you? Well, you can bet they won't want sunshine and warm hugs.”

Mushroom Cave vs Fruit Bat Cave
I've rewritten this post like four seperate times to the point i thought I had already posted it BUT I have not! Lucky ducky me!
I have been curious about which cave is technically better, especially since I see a lot of people are deadset on it being the fruit bat cave when I am a mushroom cave defender, so I am going to compare the two here!
What is the cave that you normally pick when you start a new save?
Divider Credit
Mushroom Cave
Pros:
Six boxes + A dehydrator
Spawns mushrooms even if theyre out of season
Spawns Common Mushroom, Red Mushroom, Purple Mushroom, Chanterelle and Morel
Helpful for Fall Foraging Bundle, Dye Bundle, Exotic Foraging Bundle, and Field Research Bundle
Helpful for crafting Life Elixir and Fall Seeds (and in turn, tea saplings)
Helpful for cooking Fried Mushroom, Tom Kha Soup, and Stir Fry
Purple Mushroom is a loved gift for the Wizard
Can make dehydrated mushrooms
Isn't obsolete after growing fruit trees
For sure produces every other day
You can customize your cave without risk of it
Helpful for three quests, all three reoccuring
Helpful for 9 unique fishpond quests, 11 total, which are as follows:
Common Mushroom: 2-3 from Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Midnight Carp or Woodskip
Red Mushroom: 2-3 from Catfish, Spookfish or Woodskip
Purple Mushroom: 2-3 from Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Spook Fish, or Super Cucumber
Cons:
Mushrooms are always normal quality, even with Botanist Profession
Harvesting Mushrooms doesn't award any foraging XP
Other Areas Mushrooms Can Spawn:
Common Mushroom: Fall Season, Fall Seeds, Secret Woods in Spring and Fall, and Tapping a Mushroom Tree
Red Mushroom: The Mines, Secret Woods in Summer and Fall, and Tapping a Mushroom Tree
Purple Mushroom: The Mines, Tapping a Mushroom Tree in Summar and Fall
Chanterelle: Secret Woods in Fall
Morel: Secret Woods in Spring
Total Number of Pros: 16 Total Number of Cons: 2 Difference: 14 points
Tumblr media
Fruit Bat Cave
Pros:
Can spawn up to 50 fruit.
Spawns fruit even if they're out of season
Spawns Cherrys, Pomegranate, Peach, Apple, Orange, Spice Berry, Apricot, Wild Plum, Blackberry, and Salmonberry
Helpful for Artisan Bundle, Enchanter's Bundle, Fodder Bundle, Summer Foraging Bundle, and Fall Foraging Bundle
Helpful for crafting Summer Seeds and Fall Seeds
Helpful for cooking Cranberry Candy, Fruit Salad, Plum Pudding and Blackberry Cobbler
Provides Loved Gifts for Elliott (Pomegranate), Robin (Peach), and Gus (Orange)
Can make wine, jelly, and dried fruits
Fruit can be of any quality
You benefit from the botanist profession and the gatherer profession
You earn foraging XP
Helpful for 4 quests (3 reocurring)
Cons:
Cannot customize cave as that reduces the amount of tiles where the fruit can spawn, even if it is crafted flooring.
After growing fruit trees it becomes, essentially, obsolete. Especially with the green house.
Not collecting fruit reduces the amount of fruit that can spawn overnight. For example if you have no fruit there is a 48% chance of NO new fruit spawning, but if you have ten fruit in it that chance raises to 54%
Not used in any fish pond quests
No guarentee that fruit will spawn overnight.
Other Areas Fruit Can Spawn:
Cherry: Cherry Tree in Spring (year round in greenhouse)
Apricot: Apricot Tree in Spring (year round in greenhouse)
Peach: Peach Tree in Summer (year round in greenhouse)
Orange: Orange Tree in Summer (year round in greenhouse)
Pomegranate: Pomegranate Tree in Fall (year round in greenhouse)
Apple: Apple Tree in Fall (year round in greenhouse)
Salmonberry: Bushes throughout the valley on days 15-18 in Spring.
Blackberry: Bushes throughout the valley on days 8-11 in Fall, Fall Seeds (growin in fall or year round if planted in Greenhouse)
Spice Berry: Foraging in Summer, Summer Seeds (grown in summer or year round if planted in Greenhouse)
Wild Plum: Foraging in Fall, Fall Seeds (grown in fall or year round if planted in Greenhouse)
Total Number of Pros: 12 Total Number of Cons: 5 Difference: 7 points

how do u organize your stardew chests im so curious
by item type!! this is my setup in my main save:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the labels are because i use the chests anywhere mod (it's cruel & unusual punishment to expect me to remember things). in an ideal world i would put them in alphabetical order along the rainbow but i haven't gotten around to that...)
most of them are very self-explanatory but i'll explain anyway with some notes:
animal processing (the silver chest by the door) is for eggs & milk i'm gonna make into cheese/mayo
i barely keep any animal products but i do need one of each product of each quality (for posterity). same with artisan goods (working on collecting generic jelly/juice/wine/etc. for that t)
contraptions are machines basically because i've collected a million machines as community center rewards/from crafting that i never use. i should shove my recyclers and everything in there really...
i put my fishing paraphernalia (bobbers, bait) in my fish chest which is convenient but bothers me. i should make a tackle chest but that would mean making another row of chests and an incomplete rainbow would be very bothersome (similar feelings about flowers & forage)
the fact that hay is not tagged as a resource grates at my soul and i did consider making a hay chest for only hay. but i haven't because of my restraint
seeds & such is for seeds & fertilizer, but i could see myself splitting seeds by season and making a separate fertilizer chest
tools & weapons is mostly where my bombs go but also sometimes cool swords. and a couple trinkets
i hope you enjoy. according to my brain this is the objectively correct way to do things

hello!! for the winter drabble requests, could i ask for sophideon drabble where sophie shares a xmas tradition with gideon? my man does *not* understand but sophie loves xmas and he loves her <33 no worries if that'll be too long for a drabble tho!!
Check it out! -> https://slate.com/human-interest/2016/05/an-artisanal-candy-maker-that-relies-on-victoria-era-methods-video.html
Gideon blinked twice at the contraption that Sophie had placed on their kitchen countertop. If he did not know better, he might have believed it a torture device; a giant cylinder that his wife was now turning with a crank, propelled by gears on the side. But his beautiful Sophie was not one for tormenting others, and besides, it was difficult to find it a horror when its surface had holes shaped like stars and shells carved into it. "This," she said, her accent heavy in her excitement, "is the drop candy machine."
"Did people used to drop candy into it?"
Sophie rolled her eyes lovingly. "No," she said. "It creates drop candy. Here," she instructed, "do please hand off the nectar, Gideon."
"It's odd that we call it 'nectar,'" he said, giving her the bowl of butterscotch-and-brown-sugar honey liquid. "It makes us sound like bumbling bees, creating honey and other such, ah, things."
"Well, it does contain honey," she reminded him. As though he could forget - making the nectar had been a grand ordeal in and of itself, and his lips still tasted of sticky brown sugar from when Sophie had kissed him after licking a spoon. "In any case, we pour the nectar into the tray, like so." Gideon watched as it filled the tray in long, sticky ropes. "And... remember how we placed it in the ice box?"
"The tray? Yes. I thought it quite odd."
"Well, here's why." She removed the sides of the tray, leaving behind a perfectly-defined large rectangle of partially-solidified nectar. She then rolled it over with both hands, kneading it against the cold surface.
"It looks like jelly bread," Gideon informed her.
Sophie giggled. "This is just for an even temperature," she said And then, once she had a well-kneaded piece of somewhat flat substance, she handed it off to Gideon. He took it with a tender sort of awkwardness simply because he was unsure of what he was meant to do with it, turning it over and over in his hands.
Sophie shot him a small glance and smiled slightly, brushing a stray lock of brown hair behind her ear. Her scar stood out beautifully against her pale skin, and Gideon longed to kiss it. But she looked expectant and grabbed at the crank of the machine, and raised an eyebrow at Gideon. "Well?" Her voice was playful.
Gideon's face warmed, "Well...?"
"Aren't you going to feed it through?"
"Ah... yes. Yes, of course." He hoped that Sophie believed him to know what he was doing.
He fed the large honey-yellow sheet through the drop-roller, and it came out the other side flat and indented with perfectly uniform stars and shells. It seemed a sort of magic in itself as Sophie picked up the hard sheet and began to pop the shapes out one by one, sticking them into a large bowl beside her.
"Would you wish to try one?" She held up a tiny candy in the air with a small smile.
"Was that a rhetorical question? Of course I would."
Still grinning, Sophie popped a star into his mouth.
